Survivor 50 Red Carpet Interviews

Survivor 50 Red Carpet Interviews

Rob Cesternino is on the red carpet for the Survivor 50 finale, bringing you up-close exit interviews with winner Aubry Bracco, finalist Joe Hunter, social strategist Tiffany Nicole Ervin, and fan favorite Rizgod. Rob gets candid reactions just moments after the million-dollar reveal, exploring the key strategic decisions, alliances, and emotional highs and lows that defined Survivor’s golden season.

Aubry reflects on her hard-fought, 10-year journey to victory, from being “the should-have-won” to finally claiming the title. She explains how ten seasons of studying her losses and competitors shaped her winning final Tribal Council performance and shares why persistence and self-belief matter most. Joe reveals what it means to make the final three twice without ever getting voted out, his struggles to find the right alliance, and how perceptions shaped his new-era Survivor experience. Rizgod tells the inside story of his secret alliance with Joe and Jonathan and why he believes he would have won if not for Aubry’s immunity win—plus, he looks ahead to a possible return. Tiffany opens up about her near miss at the final immunity challenge, her friendship with Cirie, and why being both blunt and beloved helped her soar further than ever.

Interview Highlights:

– Aubry’s “full-circle” win after a decade of near-misses and disappointments
– Joe’s pride in his jury journey and never losing his torch
– Rizgod’s plan to fly under the radar and target a workable final three
– Tiffany’s social game, emotional delivery, and thoughts on facing Cirie at the end
– The finalists’ reflections on pivotal challenges, relationships, and Survivor 50’s biggest decisions

As Survivor 50’s curtain falls, Rob and the finalists reveal who truly had control, whose relationships made the difference, and how close the endgame really was. What lessons will the cast take into future seasons, and who’s ready to jump back in for Survivor 52 or beyond?

[00:02:28] Everybody, what's going on? Rob Cesternino. I'm here on the red carpet for the Survivor 50 finale. And I got some great exit interviews for you here tonight. On the red carpet, I spoke with the incredible winner of Survivor 50, Aubry Bracco. Plus, I also got to catch up with Joe Hunter, Tiffany Nicole Irvin, and the Riz God. They were all here.

[00:02:52] Jonathan did not do exit press here tonight with me or any of the outlets here on the red carpet. I do hope that we have the opportunity to catch up with Jonathan tomorrow on Thursday when I will have the opportunity via Zoom to talk with the final five. So, you're going to hear my interviews with Aubrey and Joe and the Riz God and Tiffany here tonight.

[00:03:16] Owen and Sam Phalen were back in the studio tonight with a full recap of the episode. Plus, I also had the opportunity to do red carpet arrivals, which we'll also have for you coming up soon here on Rob Has a Podcast. But here's my interview with Aubrey. We're here. This is so exciting. We're here with the winner of Survivor 50. It's Aubrey Bracco. And I would ask you how you're doing, but I think you're probably incredible.

[00:03:46] Yeah, I mean, to hear you say that, it's surreal. I never thought I'd hear that. It's unbelievable. I just want to say, I personally, I'm so happy for you with this because we've been on this journey for, what is it, 10 years? Two days ago. It was 10 years since the Korong finale. And I never make it look easy. 10 years. And you were the, you should have won person. And then you, and I thought you articulated this.

[00:04:14] And then it's like, oh wait, no, actually, then the worm turned. And then it was like, you shouldn't have won. And then now, here you are. And now you are a winner. And I just, as, as, as, I think as many of us who are in the like close but no cigar, to, to come back and to get it, that it's, it's just, it's so cool. Thank you. Yeah, I feel so lucky. Like, there are so many people in my position, you know, that have gotten so close. We know.

[00:04:45] I just, I never thought I'd have this opportunity again. And I really have to say, it was that conversation with you and T-Bird. I never thought in a million years. And you guys asked me. And I was like, well, maybe. And I just can't believe we're standing here. That is a wild butterfly effect to think about. But you did such a great job. And you were an alternate, right? I was never an alternate on season 50 of Survivor ever. Yes. I was cut.

[00:05:14] And then I was re-added to the cast. Wow. Yeah. And so many things in this game. Like, if just the one bounce of the ball went the other way, you wouldn't be here. It's just, like, so amazing. No, it is. And you know, everyone says that, like, luck is part of Survivor. But I have a really good friend, Chris Savage. He always says the recipe for luck is persistence and the belief that good things can happen. You cultivate the environment for luck. And I really believe that that helped me.

[00:05:43] Because I had some real low days. The beginning was not so good. Really sick a couple days. Was on the wrong side socially. And I just believe that if I could scrape through, I could get to another day. Yeah. I really would love to go through the whole thing. The whole thing at some point. But I just think that your final Tribal Council was also one of the best. And I just, like, I had been thinking, like, if you could get there, I knew you were going

[00:06:12] to ace the final Tribal Council. I mean, Rob, I've been studying it for 10 years. I studied my mistakes. I studied these players. I've studied all of these players that I played with. Their wounds. I know that I am one hero in my own story. And there are 23 other heroes in their stories. I really tried to put myself in their shoes. And I realized that there was a way to be direct and tell my story without invalidating all of those people on the jury. And tell them about the tenure your journey has had.

[00:06:37] It seemed like watching the shows that you could sort of, like, see this coming. You, like, you saw, like, there's a point, like, around when Stephanie is going home that I felt like that you could kind of, like, see a path. Is that how you felt while you were out there? I would say I really felt at the Aussie vote. Yeah. I thought I was dead in the water with that rock draw. Those guys were really, like, buddies. But the conversations I had with Rizzo Joe and Jonathan that day, you know, when you talk to someone, you're like, this is a different kind of conversation.

[00:07:07] I felt like they didn't. I thought they were underestimating me a little bit. And I thought that I could get at least to four. And then I had to push it over the line with some motion. Tell me if this is off base. And you cited all the winners of your other seasons. But I thought that this season, I think there's a lot of parallels to Game Changers. And this final three, especially, you were Sarah. And Jonathan was Brad. Brad and Joe, unfortunately, was Troy's Anne. There were a lot of parallels to Game Changers and kind of those dynamics.

[00:07:38] Look, I know I'm not the most bubbly, charismatic person out there. I have more of, like, a more introverted kind of vibe. Sarah is very much a one-on-one person. I definitely learned from watching her. You have to be very methodical about who you want in the end. I mean, I think that Sophie did this really well, too. I was really thinking, who do I want to sit next to? Who do I not? And, I mean, I did not want to get to that final three and lose again, Rob. I was terrified when I actually got to the final three. I'm like, it's going to happen again. Agonizing.

[00:08:07] So I really studied that endgame. Yeah. And then the big surprise, you got a car also? I mean, I'm, like, more surprised about the car because I just was not really expecting it. It had a big logo. I flew outside. I left the door open. It was going beep, beep, beep. And they said, shut the door. They didn't even mention or tease anything about a car. I'm shocked. Thank you, Toyota. Oh, my gosh. Incredible. Like, what the heck is happening? Yeah. All right. Well, we are going to talk more tomorrow. So looking forward to that.

[00:08:36] I just want to say again, I'm so proud of you and I'm so happy for your journey. And it's been just so cool to think about it in the context of this over 10 years to get here. Thank you. And thank you to the fans, production, press, everybody who pours their heart and souls into this game. And Rick Devins. Rick Devins, where do you want to go to eat? What amusement park do you like? What island do you want to go on vacation? You know, I listen to the podcast where you're like, if someone wins, they got to. I've been considering this ever since I was showering and listened to that. Yes.

[00:09:06] Okay. Well, do something nice for Rick. And congratulations, Aubrey. Thank you. All right. We're here with Joe Hunter. And Joe, let me say, I really enjoyed watching you on Survivor 50. I really thought that you had a view of the game that was different than what the other players were doing. And I really thought that you were such a fun person to watch in this season. And I feel like it was a little bit of a hard ride for you as it was playing out. How are you doing tonight? You know, thank you for that.

[00:09:35] But I'm going to be dead honest with you. I started really thinking about this a lot. And I go, I feel so wonderful. And this is why. I go out of 750 some players to be one of the few that have made it to the top three, both times I played. And then I go out of my entire two seasons. A handful of people can say they beat me. Then you go out of challenges to make it in the top three of overall challenges ever played. And my torch has never been snuffed. Ever. That's pretty. So I sat back.

[00:10:05] And what I've been through with my sister and everything else, man, and the Tyler Perry deal. I'm filled with tonight of like, I refuse to make that a loss. I really do feel great. I made it to the top three in 50. Yeah. I mean, it's awesome. Yeah. Well, I thought that you came into Survivor 50 and it was right after you just played on Survivor 48.

[00:10:27] And I felt like that you were coming into this game really looking for the people that were like the, not to say that Kyle and Camilla are great, but they deceived you towards the end. And I really felt like that you were really like eyes wide open, really looking for that in this game. And they're like, who's going to be the person here who is in what they say they are? True. Well, and I want to say this too about my first tribe, right?

[00:10:57] Think about it. I immediately saw that Rick and Christian were tight with Emily. Yeah. And then I saw Ozzy and Sarif. So I kind of felt, boom. And then we have Savannah. We have Jenna. So you're right in that I was looking for a home and I kept missing the bus. I was trying to get in the carpool. Yeah. And they go, no, we're full. And they would take off. So it was me trying to get my footing, but I did my best I could. I really wanted to work with Genevieve and I wish I would have been able to work more with Emily. And she was amazing. Emily was amazing.

[00:11:26] She said some great things and I'm super grateful for her. Yeah. That was interesting. I heard in the final travel council where Emily spoke about how that there was some talking about like, okay, well, who's going to talk to Joe on this vote? But Emily said that that goes to show how much power you have in the game. Could you talk a little bit more about your relationship with Emily? Yeah. I just thought that it was a great perspective and I don't know why other players didn't talk about that. But that's how I felt when she said it. I thought going into it.

[00:11:56] Well, I got to tell you though. So I come in with that concept. I had a great, Emily's going to be a straight shooter. And then what's funny is right when we sat down at final travel and I put my butt on the stool and I looked out. And right then I go, you know what? We don't have to do this because I'll just go. They were pissed. I could count. I'm telling you, I was like, you've experienced this. You go, you're not getting my vote. Okay. Okay. You don't like me. Yeah. There's maybe a one or two, but the majority were like, I'm like, oh.

[00:12:26] So it was also one of those moments where I kind of knew, but it's also the moment where I appreciate people like Emily, who also was able to separate the emotion and say the truth. How were you feeling going into the final travel council? Honestly, I must have been, you know, off my rocker. Yeah. I thought I was going to battle for second. To be honest with you. Yeah. I was like, okay.

[00:12:52] I think Aubrey has a good argument, but Jonathan's been playing a hell of a game, but I think I'm going to get a handful of votes. Then I really started looking at it and I'm like, ah, man, maybe I got third based on seeing them, but I at least thought I'd get a vote or two. Yeah. That's the only thing. I really did. For other reasons. I think you've had such an interesting survivor journey because in Survivor 48, I thought 100% you were going to win the whole season. I thought that if Joe goes to the end, he can't lose.

[00:13:21] And then this season felt like that. Okay. It feels like that. If Joe's going to the end, I don't think he's going to win. And I hate to say this in that I feel like the momentum and what the players wanted, I feel like also there were some players we just didn't ever get on the same page. Yeah. And that sticks in the jury. I think there's also relationships. When you have returning seasons, some of these players are friends. It's really hard to separate the two.

[00:13:48] If you ended up being on the jury, would you have voted for Jonathan over Aubrey? I mean, here's the deal. It's because Aubrey was such a great person and chose me. It's really hard to say anything negative about her because I truly think she's a great person. But from my perspective in the game, not watching the edit, my perspective in the game, I thought he played a better game. So I would have voted for him based on the real life.

[00:14:16] Because, you know, the edit, you can sit back. I'm saying from what I saw in the game, I would have voted for him. Can I ask you about, I think that there was a lot of misconceptions about you also coming into the game. A lot of people talked about that you were in alliances before the game started. I know that you've pushed back against that. Yes. And I'm saying this, and I'll prove it with any way necessary. I had zero alliances. I mean zero. Like, communicated with zero, did zero.

[00:14:44] I won't comment on anyone else, meaning like I'm not, everyone's their own journey. Yeah. But I can tell you, and that was really tough to hear. I think there was an assumption. Now, I wasn't excluding anybody. But I had zero alliances. Zero phone calls, Zooms, whatever. Zero. I'm proud of that. Yeah. Well, Joe, you had such an interesting journey.

[00:15:04] I'd love to talk more with you about your entire game because I think it's so, in the new era, I just think that you're such a different cat with how these other players, the whole way that all the players look at the new era is very different than how you play the game. But I think that that's what makes you a fun person to have in these seasons. So, I just want to say congratulations. Thank you. And I hope you're enjoying everything that's come out of this. I am, and I got to tell you one thing, just to give you this heads up, man, I really enjoy what you do.

[00:15:34] And you're one of the few that it's not biased. You just give the truth. You give perspectives that I really respect, and it's not easy to do that. I appreciate that. I try to look at things from everybody's perspective, and I think that yours is always a really fun one to look at because I just think that you're a great dad. You're a great family man, and I just hope that people always see that about you. Amen. Thanks, Joe.

[00:18:58] Whether it's Verde, Roja, or the orange one. For Jeff, trying any salsa is like playing Russian roulette with a flamethrower. Luckily, Jeff saved with Amazon and stocked up on antacids, ginger tea, and milk. Habanero? More like habanere, yes. Save the everyday with Amazon. All right.

[00:19:24] I'm so thrilled to be here with the man, the myth, the legend. And here he is. How are you doing? Man, honestly, this has been crazy. A crazy two years for me. One year applying to be on the show. One year watching and playing the show. It's been great. I'm holding a lot of records right now, Rob. A lot of records, especially after tonight. Yeah, a new record.

[00:19:46] I don't even know what the record is where Jeff basically put your torch out before anything happened. Yeah. Listen, Jeff and I decided before this happened that we need to invent a new twist. Yeah. And Jeff talked about, why don't we show someone getting voted out and show how they get voted out? Yeah. This time it wasn't a vote out. It was a fire making loss. So that's ultimately what happened. Can you just talk about what was going through your mind during that moment?

[00:20:13] Because as a person who was here, I was like, oh, did I black out for a minute here? Ultimately, I just wanted to be a great professional. I was a little bit confused because from my understanding, I was going to go out after my loss. And ultimately, you know, Jeff says, let's bring out the risk out. And I'm like, all right, I'm just going to hype up this fire challenge. I'm going to hype up how I reversed the curse. And then he says, sit down in the jury. And I'm like, okay. So it was interesting. It was fun. But then we played it off a little bit really well.

[00:20:42] And I think I made the joke about now I'm a part of Survivor history, which I was. Yeah, look, you got to give people something to talk about. And that's what you've done so much. And I just want to say, I'm really proud of your games in two seasons. And it's so obvious how much you love the game. And I really felt like that you came out there with only nine days off. And you really played your ass off. And I really hope you're proud. I am. I am. Honestly, as someone that studied the game and is a super fan of the game,

[00:21:10] I always said that if Jeff gave me one chance, I'd prove him right. And not only did I do it one chance, I did it twice in the biggest season ever. And I still feel at the bottom of my heart, had Aubrey not win that final immunity, it's me and the three guys. I give myself at least a good shot to win the game. You know, I went through all of the scenarios the other day. And I had discounted. I said, you know, I don't know if Rizgott has it in the end. But then I looked at you and Jonathan and Joe. And I was like, you know what? I actually think that you won in that scenario. Yeah, I think so, too.

[00:21:38] I think what was great about Joe and Jonathan is that you were a part of the same alliance. So the alliance would have to ultimately pick who they wanted to vote for. I had a lot of the nerd group. I had great alliances with D and Suri. I don't think I would have gotten Ozzy's vote. But I think 6-4 or whatever, 6-5, 7-4, I had a really good shot. Had I been able to articulate my game. Yeah, that's how I was looking at it also. So, I mean, I thought that that was a really interesting group for you.

[00:22:04] Now, I wondered also, watching these last couple episodes, was the Rizzo-Joe-Jonathan alliance, was that actually a three-person alliance that you had been working on for a little bit? Yeah, for sure. Obviously, it doesn't make the edit because neither of us win, so it's not a winning narrative. But since the Ozzy blindside, the reason why I was so willing to do it was I actually locked down a final three with Joe and Jonathan at that vote. We said, listen, we all have flaws in our game. People think I'm a lazy bum.

[00:22:34] Jonathan had, you know, questions about his pre-existing relationships. And Joe was this honor-bound integrity guy that no one took serious. So we all thought if we all get together and make it to the end, we all give ourselves the best shot at winning. And I credit a lot of that awareness to my conversations with Emily and Rick. That never made air. Emily at the final nine was like, Rizzo, honestly, I don't know what you're doing. And I feel like, I was like, great, Emily. Thank you for being so honest. But that tells me that I'm playing such a good game that nobody sees it. Now I need to get to the end with people that people don't respect because they don't respect me.

[00:23:04] So that was the reason why I did that. And we really ran that late game. Yeah. Now, as viewers, we all wanted to see you go to the end with Seri and Ozzy. But I also felt like that we heard from you so much. You really wanted to win. Yeah. And I was curious, how much was that a real alliance in your mind? You and Ozzy and Seri? Yeah. I mean, listen, I think my best comparison and advice to any future players is you want to play Survivor with people that know how to play Survivor.

[00:23:34] It's like playing basketball. You're not going to play basketball with people that don't know how to pick and roll. So in 49, I aligned myself with Savannah and Sophie and we ran the game. And I felt confident that I can beat them at the end. Hence why I went with them to the end. But you're telling me the new kid on the block is going to be Seri and Ozzy? Absolutely not. I worked with them because it benefited me. I realized that everyone was working with Seri. And Ozzy was that comp beast that Savannah kind of was for me in 49. So ultimately, I was trying to go to the end with them. Not the end. Let me rephrase that.

[00:24:03] I was trying to go to the end game with them, but not the final three. So you're working with Joe and Jonathan. Yeah. You have a final three with them. Yeah. They get to the final three. Yeah. But you vote for Aubrey. Yeah. Yeah. You know, it's interesting. To be honest, I was actually very open and willing to vote for Joe. And something that we didn't see was me and Joe had a final two out there. Joe and I had a very close relationship. We saw something in a secret scene where I talked about how Joe meant so much to my family because of my brother's autism and what he did for Eve on 48.

[00:24:33] And I wanted to go to the end with Joe. But once I got to Ponderosa, a lot of the discourse was Jonathan and Aubrey. And I felt like had I thrown a vote at Joe, it might have been a closer vote. So I was now thinking, all right, I don't want to throw a hanky vote and force someone to lose. So then I based my vote on who I felt played the best strategically. And I thought Aubrey had no pre-existing relationships. Aubrey really didn't do anything. Like she played her game. You know what I mean? She articulated her game.

[00:25:02] And to be quite honest, I voted for her based on her Survivor legacy. Playing Korong, falling just short, coming back to game changers, making the final five, playing Edge of Extinction and flopping pretty hard. And to make it to the end of Survivor 50 and doing what she articulated is what gained my respect. Now, all right, that's Aubrey's journey. Have you given thought to what's your journey? How long would you be your ideal layoff before you come back to Survivor?

[00:25:31] Honestly, Rob, this sounds insane. But I would go back tomorrow. If Jeff says we need a 52 stand-in, I would do it. I love the game so much. I have the confidence in myself to know that I can still make it to the end like I've done these two times. If I can do it against all these people at Survivor 50, I can do it in a captain season. I can do it in all returnees. I can do it in all newbies. That's that kind of blind confidence you need in life. And that's what I have. But I would go tomorrow. I mean, I don't think me going, like if I play 52, 55, 60, 75 would change anything.

[00:26:00] My resume is my resume, you know? So they can put me out there tomorrow and I want to prove the haters wrong. All right. Well, looking forward to it. Looking forward to talking more with you about this game, about Season 49. I know you got to run, but we're going to talk more tomorrow. Absolutely. All right, man. You're the man. Take care, buddy. Give me a hug. I love you, dude. All right. We're here with the robbed queen, Tiffany Nicole Irvin. Am I robbed goddess now? Is that like my official title, robbed goddess? Yeah, you are. You are. I love it. I'll wear it for now.

[00:26:30] You know, I feel like we were so close here between you winning and me having a winner pick. Oh, my God. We were like, I could taste it. I was so close. It was right there within my grasp. Yeah. I regret nothing. I regret nothing because you did so good. You did everything that I thought that you could do. You did. And I just want to say I'm really proud of the game you played. It's so good. Thank you so much. I'm very grateful. First of all, I saw the shout out in your book.

[00:26:58] I saw that you thought I was your winning pick. And I was honestly so flattered. I'm like, finally, somebody out there who knows what's good. Somebody out there with a good take. I drafted you while you guys were still playing. You guys were. You guys were. I don't even know if the game started and I drafted you. I really I just thought that you had everything that I thought the winner of the season. And it wasn't you. But it was somebody who had a very similar ultimate story to you in Aubrey.

[00:27:26] But I just want to talk about your reception here this season, because I really felt like that you could have won in Survivor 46. And you were on that trajectory. And I felt that we saw your full potential in season 50. I could not agree more. I walked away from season 46 with a big gaping hole in my heart because I knew that I had more to give. And I truly believe that I left it all out there this season. The only thing I could have done better this season, in my opinion, was win. Yeah.

[00:27:53] You put that one puzzle together and then you're at four. How are you at some motion? You win some motion? I absolutely win some motion. I'm an artist. My hand eye coordination is impeccable. Yeah. I would have won this game if they wouldn't have gotten me out. That one puzzle piece. I'll tell you, I don't know if you could see the reaction in that room. But when you didn't win that Final Five challenge, the room was not happy. Good. I'm glad. I'm glad to hear it because I also wasn't happy. But you know what?

[00:28:21] That just speaks volumes to how much people believed in me, how much people were cheering me on, and how much they wanted it just as bad as I did. You know, I think you're a little bit of a contradiction as a player. And I hope that you will take this as a compliment. Okay. But you call it like it is, like Sandra, but you are seemingly so beloved by the other players where you really can say things like they are.

[00:28:48] But the other players, it seems to be something that makes you so well-liked by the other players. I agree with that totally and 100%. But also, I do take that as a compliment. And I sometimes wonder about that as well. But you know what it is? I think it's about the delivery. I say what I mean, and I say what I feel, but I always say it with love. I'm never saying anything to disrespect anybody. I'm never saying anything to put anybody down. And at the end of the day, I do think I'm a really good social player.

[00:29:16] And I work hard to let everybody know that I'm your friend. We're friends here. Like, all I'm doing is getting things off my chest. All right. I got a question that I want to know. All right. You were very close with Sari all through the post-merge. Yes. You were going to go to the end with Sari? Yes. I know. I know. I know. I know. I know what that means. I know what going to the end with Sari means.

[00:29:41] But also, I'm a person that believes in giving people what they deserve. I think I deserve to be sitting in there. And I think Sari deserves to be sitting next to me. And I'm just not a player that's scared. Yeah. Nobody puts fear in my heart. Not even Miss Sari feels. Okay. And I would love to sit next to her at the end. Imagine, giving the queen Sari a win. That's a perfect bookend to her survivor career. I would have loved to be one of the people to do that. Okay. All right. Well, Tiffany, we'll talk more soon. Okay.

[00:30:11] But it's great to see you. And congrats on everything this season. Thank you so much. It's always a pleasure. Always.
