Purple Pants Podcast | The Amazing Race 29 Summer Rewatch: Episode Ten Recap

Brooke and Brice welcome The Amazing Race 37 winners Ricky Rotandi and César Aldrete to the Purple Pants Podcast Summer Rewatch as they dive into Season 29, Episode 10, “Riding a Bike Is Like Riding a Bike.” The Race continues through Vietnam as the final five head to Ninh Bình, where bicycles become their main mode of transportation and the scorching heat turns an already demanding leg into a true test of endurance. From Tara and Joey’s duck egg Speed Bump to an exhausting Roadblock hauling shrimp traps by bicycle, this leg pushes the racers physically and emotionally, culminating in one of the season’s most heartbreaking moments as Floyd reaches his breaking point and Team Fun’s race comes to an end. Brooke, Brice, Ricky, and César unpack the strategy, teamwork, chaos, and emotion of the episode while Ricky and César bring a winner’s perspective on what it takes to keep racing when your body and mind are telling you otherwise. With the finale getting closer and every mistake carrying more weight, this Summer Rewatch is full of laughs, insight, and plenty of Amazing Race conversation.

[00:01:22] As we dive into Episode 10 of Season 29, Riding a Bike is like riding a bike. The race continues through Vietnam as the final five head to ride bicycles. And listen, riding a bike seems a little bit more difficult than not. There is some speed bumps and an emotional episode.

[00:01:48] So get your tissues ready as we get into this week's Pit Stop. Pit Stop. Pit Stop. Pit Stop. Pit Stop. Pit Stop. Pit Stop. Pit Stop. Pit Stop. Pit Stop. Pit Stop. Pit Stop. Pit Stop. And welcome back to the Purple Pants Podcast.

[00:02:14] Summer rewatch of Amazing Race Season 29, Episode 10. And we are, baby, this podcast is starting off before it is starting off. And so listen, we are here. I'm so excited to always be with my amazing co-host, the contestant on Season 29. She never has any technical difficulties, always keeps cool under pressure. She's beautiful.

[00:02:43] She's talented. And she is here with us. Welcome back to the podcast, Brooke Cam. Hi. Oh my God. You were talking about me because most of those things are not true. We should really record what's talked about before we press record because that makes it even more fun. Hello, my handsome co-host. How are you? I am wonderful. I am even more excited to be here because, well, I'm not excited to be here because... You called me crying. This was...

[00:03:12] We're not excited to talk about what we're talking about today. I did not call you crying. That's a lie. Excuse me? Should I play the recording? That's a lie. Well, I did. I did absolutely call you crying. I thought the call started with... I didn't think I was going to cry. And I definitely started crying. I cried too. I cry every time I see it. But I'm excited because we are here with some of our favorite guests.

[00:03:40] And if you could do the honor of introducing this fabulous duo that does not shop at the outlets, please. No, they fancy. They've got winner money. Welcome today, please, to the podcast. Two of my favorite people went to season 36 of The Amazing Race, which, if you don't remember, traveled a total of 17 miles. But they got there first. That's right. That's right. That's right. That's right. That's right.

[00:04:08] Please welcome two of my favorite humans in the world. When are we going to do karaoke again? Ricky and Cesar. Hello. Bye. I can't wait to compare both mountains. You know, like the ones that with the 500 steps that Brooke climbed this episode and the 600 step plus on our 17 kilometer race, you know. That was in one episode, sir.

[00:04:36] Still, we climbed a couple of steps. Are you climbing a couple of steps? It was a different time. Your season was a little crazy. You guys were all over the place. It was, it was, I'm enjoying watching it back because I lived it. And then you remember, it's what I would imagine, like, when you have a kid, like, you think about having another kid because you forget how awful the pain of having a child is. I lived it. And then I was like, oh, again, great.

[00:05:05] And then I watched it and was like, oh, this was painful. But now I'm watching it again, more removed. It is so funny. It's a good season. I say that not because it's a good season. It's so funny that you're bringing up the having a child reference because that happened so many times during this episode, but I'm like, I had six children.

[00:05:31] Well, we also got this episode also entered a new team. There is a Scott team that entered this episode. I was like watching unfold before my crying eyes. Yes. I turned a little into. Sure. I came over last half of all, not the glasses there. And you know what? I mean, racing for top four.

[00:06:00] Like, yeah. That's what you have to do. But the one question I have to ask, I just love to know how hot was it in Vietnam? It was over 100 degrees. And it was like not a, you know how they talk about it, a dry heat.

[00:06:25] It was so like, I hate the word moist, but like the air was, it was hard to breathe. You had to like, you know how like when you can feel yourself moving through air, it was like that. Like it was just thick. It's a good word to describe it. I mean, you saw everyone had a problem. Like Joey looked like he was going to collapse. I always look like I'm going to collapse. Floyd actually did collapse.

[00:06:53] Like we, I give so much credit to production because they consistently and constantly have water, like electrolyte water on us. They're like, you need to drink, you need to drink, everybody drink. And so they do take good care of us, but we had soaking wet towels all over our head. We had water constantly. It was, it was rough. Like it looked, it looked insane. Yeah. And then to do all of that running, the stairs, the bikes, the biking, the biking was the

[00:07:22] worst because it was a one year bicycle. And I use the term road. First of all, the place is beautiful. Like rural Vietnam is gorgeous. Yeah. But the roads aren't for the most part paved. And as we're riding those one year, thank you for that. As we're riding those one year bicycles, the cameraman and sound guy are zooming along on mopeds next to us. And despite me asking, they did not want to switch spots with me. So. They're like, no, we're good here on the motorized.

[00:07:53] Stop talking to us and asking us to switch. We're not switching. That was a question I had. And I was like, what are the sound and audio people doing? But as I wrote it down in one of the scenes, I don't know if it was like London or you, you see one of them ride by. And I was like, oh, they're on. Smart. Mm-hmm. We had driven around. We did not get those. So any other questions or should we start talking about it?

[00:08:22] Or did Ricky and Cesar want to poke a little bit of fun at me? Because I. I'll save it. I'll spare it for the episode. I'm honestly surprised that you didn't have labels hanging behind you. I was convinced. That episode passed. That episode is not an overwind. Yeah. So. We're moving forward. Okay. Okay. No. I do want to say this though, Brooke. You. You.

[00:08:50] Say the quiet things out loud the entire season. And I think that's why a lot of people are like, oh, she's complaining. No, everybody's complaining. They're just not verbalizing it like Brooke is. Like these are hard challenges. Like you are a verbal processor. So you're encouraged. Your self-encouragement to yourself. Your, your self-doubt. All of the things everyone is thinking already. You're just saying it out loud. So it comes across like, oh, she just can't. No, it's.

[00:09:19] Everybody's thinking. Oh, she just can't. Really hard. She's just verbalizing it, which makes it sound like, wow. Brooke is always complaining. It's like, no, she just verbalize it. Thank you. Motion to have Ricky join every future podcast. Yeah. And you had a very difficult, you had a very difficult season in general. Like the race is hard, but then to race it with a stranger, like that is very hard. And then you're up against these other dynamics and like really strong teams. Like I think you held your own.

[00:09:49] Thank you. Thank you very much. I'm just going to say great TV. Great TV. It was great TV, period. It really was. And again, I. Seriously, how boring would the season be if we weren't on it? Like, I'm just saying. I'm with you. If this season and have Shamir, Mike and Liz, Logan and you. Team fun helps. Team fun. Team fun. And honestly, like Tara and Joy are like getting.

[00:10:19] They're getting. Listen, I, you know, they. I didn't remember. Like, so when I watched your season, it was like when we were studying for the race. So I haven't watched it since before we were on the race. It's been a couple of years. And I just like, I didn't remember thinking like, oh, Joey and Tara were like standouts for me. Just a little. Huh? Giuseppe now because. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Who the hell is that?

[00:10:48] Who that's with my one of my notes? Calling him Giuseppe. But I actually like they, they are another dynamic team that like figured it out. Like they had their rough patches, but they figured it out and they did really well. So it was kind of surprising watching it again. Oh, okay. Wait a minute. I have enjoyed watching them. That's like, that's what I'm bringing. I'm bringing them up as a like an entertaining thing. They were. I did not expect them to be this good at episode 10 from episode one. Right.

[00:11:17] Like I knew Joey, a.k.a. Giuseppe was good, but like, I felt like they had a lot of kinks to figure out. But I'm not sure when they figured it out. But whenever they did, it's like smooth sailing for them. And you know what it was? I think it was Tara. She just does not take any of Joey's BS. She puts him in his place. She's not intimidated by him. Like I deal with worse people than you. And she's so confident and comfortable.

[00:11:47] Like I think that really worked and kept him in check with this. Watch next week. Okay. No. Okay. We're going to start. I will also say we did gloss over Venk and Ashton, who I do think combined with Matt and Red led to some good moments, especially in the first half of the season. Agreed. It's good teams. And I think it's because you have 22 people who all really wanted to race. And it wasn't, you know, one person who dragged their brother who'd never seen the show before

[00:12:16] onto the show. You had people who really wanted to be there and paired up with other people who really wanted to be there. So we should do it again. Okay. Anyway. Episode 10. Random again or the race again? Should we what? Would you pick, would you want to do another random choosing or would you, you'd like to pick somebody? Yeah. We didn't kill each other the first time. We're not going to kill each other the next time. Probably. Who knows? We'll see. But it's not. Let's find out.

[00:12:47] Define the word kill. Ew. We're both still breathing. There you go. There you go. We had our yearly winner's call recently. Like we're still alive. Yeah. And both packed and ready to go. Just saying. Okay. So. Episode 10. Here we go. Don't ever miss a chance. Okay. They want to go too. We already heard. Oh, I know. Oh, I know. The box is sitting there. All our supplies. And you know what?

[00:13:15] Let's start with the episode on the fact that you apologize to Lolo. Yeah. Or whatever happened with the ladder. And then Scott comes and says, oh yeah, like you build an alliance. Yeah, you have to build an alliance, but then you have to know when to break them. Now I'm thinking Bryce didn't see any of this because at the time they showed us mending fences, Matt, Redman, and Logan all had their shirts off.

[00:13:45] So I'm pretty certain that Bryce didn't listen to any of the dialogue. So that's what happened at the beginning of the episode in case you missed it. And I, you know me too well. Cause I, you said that last episode and I was like, where was the mending of the fences? So that, so that, so that did. I am so serious. I did not know that. Honestly, if I want Bryce to like say yes to something, I should just ask for things

[00:14:14] with a very handsome man with no shirt standing next to me. And he'll be like, uh-huh, uh-huh, sure, sure, bro. Move over to your left. Like you can probably get anything you want. So that's what happened. Bryce is like, I saw some guys with their shirts up and we're best friends again. So it's cool. Good. I mean, listen, that's kind of how the race, you have to be able to ebb and flow. And like when things benefit you, then they benefit you and they don't, then they don't. But you have to be able to move on from it. Right. And like, it's like we were talking about last, on the last episode, Bryce, like London,

[00:14:44] London and Logan were the same way. Scott and I are sort of, you air your grievance. You say you're sorry. You move on. That fight's over. Like we're not going to have the same fight twice. Yeah. Fight about something else. Probably worse. But we won't have the same fight twice. So fences were mended and we're staying in Vietnam, but it's totally different Vietnam. So it's cool because, you know, I don't like to stay in the same country, but it was very,

[00:15:07] very city with a bazillion people versus very, very rural with very few people and lots of goats on the side. On the side of that mountain, by the way, goats like hanging off perpendicular. Just kind of like so cool because the stairs were not stairs. They were carved into the actual limestone mountain. It wasn't like someone built a staircase. So they weren't like even stairs.

[00:15:36] And the goats were just sort of like, meh, like just there and cool. So sorry, your internet cut out. What were the goats like? They were just like, meh. Like they were just sort of there the whole time. And I love the goats. I'm surprised they didn't show me talking to the goats because they show me talking to everything, which is fine. Ricky's right. I don't have an inner monologue. It's all. It's just out. And you know what? It makes, it makes for good TV. It is.

[00:16:03] Also, it gives people a chance to like relate, like what's going on there. Also, no one will ever wonder what I'm thinking. Like there's never a question of like what's on Brooke's mind because I've said like there's, it doesn't. Yeah. Anyway. So Beth and Lloyd are first at just before 8am. Then we have Matt and Redmond. Lolo's at 818. We're 20 minutes later and Tara and Joey are bringing up the realer 847 AM.

[00:16:32] Everyone's a little pissed off because I'll say all the teams were ready to have Tara and Joey go home. And there was a non-elimination leg and everyone's a little frustrated, but they have a speed bump. And I got to tell you, this speed bump was not easy. It was like in the heat and you had to find these ducks. We'll get there when we get there. But like, yeah, it wasn't, it was hard. Like I feel for them. Anyway, we're going to the limestone mountains of Nimbin, Vietnam.

[00:17:02] And Floyd's confidence is through the roof. He's hoping to be first again, which we automatically know means they're either first or they're definitely going home. And unfortunately this time they're definitely going home. Um, the boys are talking about how it's so everyone's just like, it's so hot. Lolo's talking about how they're pissed off Tara and Joey didn't go home. Um, Tara and Joey are still feeling slighted by us. We're horrible human beings apparently.

[00:17:28] And we are told we have to take a bus from Hanoi, Vietnam to Nimbin, Vietnam. Question. Yes. You have $30. Did you get them in dollars? Probably. Yeah. Yeah. I think we, yeah. But they took dollars. I'm just curious because we, everything we got it on there, on there. Like the local currency. Uh, but in those cases, yeah, in those cases, like what was your.

[00:17:57] We didn't have to change money. So wherever we were at the bus stop, they gave us what we needed. And we didn't need any more money for that leg of the race because you were driving, driving yourself, riding yourself around. Here's my question. And thankfully London and Logan didn't do it. The first bus has Becca and Floyd and Matt and Redmond on it. The second bus, Logan and London gets the bus and they're sitting there waiting for it to leave at 930. Scott and I get there at 929. The second we get on that bus, I go, guys, how much money do you have left? Yes. Yes.

[00:18:27] Bus driver. Can we leave? Like we will. They all put all the other tickets and buy. Let's go. If I were London and Logan, I would have paid a long time ago. Made us wait for the next bus. But we run to that bus and I say to Scott, I don't think they air this part. I'm like, pull out the money. We're paying to leave because they're right behind us. And so we say to London and Logan, we're going to pay him. And I'm talking to the driver. I'm like, we're going to pay you. Let's go. Let's go. And then Tara and Joey get to the door. And I'm like, okay, I guess forget it. Now it doesn't matter.

[00:18:56] But I was like trying to bribe that bus driver real hard. He was right. I do have a little thing with Brooklyn and Scott. And who was it? Lola on that bus. Because both of these pairs said all the way on the back, leaving Tara and Joey sitting up front and being the first ones out. And I just wanted, if I only had one of those teammates in this conversation to ask, why were they thinking sitting all the way on the back?

[00:19:25] I will tell you, because I don't know why London and Logan sat in the back of the bus. I also don't know why they didn't pay to leave sooner. But when we got on that bus, people were in the other seats. People had gotten up and Tara and Joey took those seats in the front. They were not there when we got on that bus. We would have sat in the absolute front. You are absolutely correct. We would have sat in the front row of the bus. But I was then at that point so concerned about paying him to leave. And then those two seats opened up and they got on the bus and they took him.

[00:19:55] Whatever. Okay. Thank you. That was a good question. See, this is why y'all know I don't think about the amazing race. Because my ass would have just, I would have gotten to back and shut up. I never would have thought of that. Like, hold on. Let me add this to my amazing race log. Oh my God. Front of the bus. Pay to leave. Leave. But I also, my one little comment, because I'm going to be quiet. I don't want to say too much. But like, you are right, Brooke.

[00:20:25] Every episode, Ricky and Cesar, Brooke's like, they turn my mic up 10 degrees louder than everyone else's. And I'm like, no, Brooke, they don't. Be quiet. However, when you were saying leave, leave, leave, leave, your mic definitely was not turned up. I'm like, why are we amplifying this? This is a great moment. Why is it like, I feel like they should have turned it up a little bit. So you might be on to something, Brooke. You might be on to something. Hilarious.

[00:20:55] So we're on these buses. The first bus kind of zooms through. And I guess a half hour later is rush hour in rural Vietnam because we sat on that bus for a long time. But we finally get off the bus and it's time to bicycle. This bicycling, just FYI. I know I wrote this down somewhere. I don't know where it is. And it's probably going to be in my notes later on. Oh, here it is. Behind the scenes. Bill had a movie. It was called like La Ride.

[00:21:21] And it was basically him on a old school bicycle like we took doing the Tour de France on like a one gear bicycle. And they came to New York City and they screened that movie. And Venk went, I believe London went, I went. We all saw Phil. We saw the movie. And after the movie, I went over to Phil and I go, I'm like, that was a lot like leg 10. He goes, where do you think we got the idea for leg 10? And it was based on him.

[00:21:51] I'm like, so you know how much torture this was? It was an idea. It was good TV. I know. Anyway. I know how we can make this harder except for the heat. Let's just make it a one gear bike. It was. Yeah. There it is. It's a good movie. It's very interesting. We'll have to watch it. Okay. Yeah. So we get there. We have to bicycle to this big dong temple and pick up a gnome. I love when there's a gnome.

[00:22:19] You got, the gnome was gone by the time you did it, right? Like the gnome is. This is our only gnome. Oh, hello, little gnome. I have one of those gnomes sitting in my, I'm not, I'm currently on the sun. I'm in Florida, but so my gnome's not here, but normally he sits behind me. Travelocity said it to me. They were very nice about that. So anyway, it's a hundred degrees. We're biking.

[00:22:44] So team fun and the boys find the temple and the clue says, take a ride to Sanheim and search for your next clue. And that's where we see the speed bump that Tara and Joey are going to have to do. Meanwhile, we're in traffic. Like Matt's doing wheelies on bicycles, having the best time of his life. There's a gap happening between bus one and one, two, bus two. And the first bus finds the roadblock and it says, who is feeling trapped?

[00:23:12] For anyone who knows the race, this is what's called, Bryce, this is what's called a switchback. This is based on a task they did back in season three, where both team members had to basically take shrimp bikes around Vietnam. Yes. You with your hand up, handsome. Yes. Next question is, okay. So it's called this because I love learning the amazing race. So is what we call the needle in the haystack a switchback? Yes.

[00:23:40] Well, if it's after season, what was it? Six? I think it was six. But also like, but if it's the same needle in a haystack is kind of like a thing they do a lot. This was like shrimp traps on a bicycle in Vietnam. So it was like, exactly like they flew in the haystack because like there was a hay bales. Like they did this with hay bales and they went back and did that one again.

[00:24:08] So it has, it has to be in the same city in the same location. Yeah. It has to be like so substantially similar that it's like clearly based on it. And they actually showed a clip from season three to show that it was based on season three, which incidentally had a woman named Flo on it, who I am constantly compared to, but she wanted to play. And I did not. But anyway, she was great. I don't want to spoil it for you, but she did. Don't tell me. Don't tell me. I said she did quite fine. I said she did quite fine. Relax.

[00:24:38] I'm not telling you anything. Do you do any of you guys know of the runner named Flo Jo? Of course. And what she's most iconically known for? Florence Griffiths Joyner. Her. Well, I don't know what she's known for. I mean, she's a scruncher. She said she's a fan. Yes. But like, isn't Flo Jo known or wasn't she known for her nails? Yeah. I was just going to say that, but like, yes, her super long nails.

[00:25:04] I think at one point she was the fastest woman on earth. I believe. Yes. Jackie Joyner, Kersey, Florence Griffiths Joyner. One of them was the fastest woman. I just wanted to give my own switch back. The Olympians. Yes. I had to learn that for a different time. Anyway. So it says who's feeling trapped. This was maybe the worst. Like this was, this was so brutal.

[00:25:34] But Matt's like, I can do this. Floyd decides to do it. And Becca starts talking about how she wants Tara and Joey out, which I love. Like everyone sort of has their own. Logan's already said it. Becca's saying it. They, we've said like everyone, if we had another U-turn, that's probably what would have happened. She said, I like that. She said she was like, I don't trust them. They're tricksters. Tricksters. Is what she called them. I was like, okay. All right. So she, she's cautious of them. It makes sense. They are, they are.

[00:26:03] And then U-turn them. Yes, they did. Who U-turns seem fun. Come on now. Tara and Joey. That's. But I get it. It's a game. It's a game. I mean, yeah, you got to do what you got to do. But me personally, I would never U-turn Mike and Liz, but that's. Me neither. Also, you got to do what you got to do. But if you two down there and we end up on the same season. Here she goes. Don't worry. We all apologize on the next episode.

[00:26:33] And we'll be like, oh, sorry. Yeah, you know. We'll never have a sign. See? Because we'll make it through. That's right. I like that you said you'll apologize at the next episode. I am vengeful. I am action. Okay. So anyway, you have to take all of these shrimp traps and you have to put them on this bicycle. And then you have to ride a million and a half shrimp traps like several miles in this horrible heat to this cute little guy at the end of this trail and give him the shrimp traps and he'll give you a clue in theory.

[00:27:02] And then I'm after Cesar because I got a question too. Yes. Question. Could you walk the bike? Yes. Or you have to ride the bike? You could have walked the bike. See? Okay. See, Cesar and Ricky like, oh, just the questions that you ask. Let me know that like y'all are every you're deserving winner. But like, it's not like an accident that y'all won because that's such a good question.

[00:27:31] I think the racer is looking for the loopholes. Anything that I'm going to do with the bike. Because there's no requirement that you know how to ride a bicycle. You could have walked it, but it was so long that walking it would have taken forever. And honestly, if you've dropped any traps, it doesn't matter if you're right. I don't think he dropped them because he was riding. I think they just weren't attached properly. And I don't know. I just think it's like. So that's my question. Go ahead. Go ahead, Ricky. Sorry.

[00:27:58] No, I was just going to say, Floyd and Matt were like, let's count them together. I am not counting. You are not counting anything. Like, no. Because if you miscount and I believe you, then I'm screwed when I get there. So I was like, I get it. They're like trying to stay together at the front. But like, I'm going to. You can count them. Right. You can count them, but I'm going to double check it. Exactly. I want to count them again anyway. Right. I want to hear your number. So my question before we go to Cesar is, I know. Oh, my God. The way.

[00:28:29] First of all, when I watch these episodes, you'll be, you know, it's you're in New York. It's hot in Philadelphia. I normally am like naked on my bed just watching just TMI. But. You say it every episode. Everybody knows. And just in case my future husband is, you know, watching and like, you know. But anyway.

[00:28:49] But the way my anxiety started to or the saxophone started to playing when like Floyd left and like Becca saw a shrimp trap. And like she is literally like. And I also like this. That's why I love Becca. Because I in my mind, I felt like Becca was like, but I can't say anything. Right. Like I was like, she said that a bit loud. That was your clue to him. Yeah.

[00:29:17] Well, I know you can't say anything. But say I'm Becca. Right. And Brooke, you're Floyd. Ricky and Cesar, y'all are the producers. Would this be okay if I were to see that happening? And then all of a sudden I'm like, girl, you look good. Won't you back that thing up? You a big fine woman. Won't you back that thing up? Call me big daddy. Won't you back that thing up? Girl, who is you playing with? Back that thing up.

[00:29:45] Now, they probably wouldn't think anything of it. But if you like, how would your partner know that you were singing that to tell them to back up? Like, you'd have to be on such a great wavelength to know that like, oh, Bryce is telling me I need to turn around. Also, then you have to make it not obvious. I mean, because let's just say that. Another example, you would be kicking your partner, trying to let them know that there's something that they have to see.

[00:30:13] And they're like, stop kicking me. And like, so. Like, why are you kicking me? So at the moment, even that as a hint might not work. Because hitting someone didn't work. But say like Ricky and Cesar, say like on your first date, Ricky fell backwards on a chair at the restaurant called La Chair. And Ricky is Floyd and you are Becca.

[00:30:41] And as Ricky is going, if you're like, go, go, Ricky, La Chair. Go, Ricky, La Chair. I think as a producer, I wouldn't think much of it. But like the fact that the other person reacts right away, I think it would be it would be OK to have these conversations. And if anyone is going on the race, maybe have something like that. Because on our second episode, that's when happened that I was kicking Ricky and trying to let him know.

[00:31:10] And that night we had a conversation that I was like, if I kick you again, it's not because I'm kicking. Like I have never kicked you in a relationship. So if I'm kicking you, it's for something. So that's an excellent point, because the producers are not going to stop you if you're like La Chair. There's no way for them to think that you're giving any sort of hand. However, and Scott and I talked about this, too. We talked about it a few episodes ago where we yes and no in sign language to sort of like be able to communicate with each other.

[00:31:39] But also you heard me say to Scott because Becca was like Floyd drops them. I was like, Scott, like pay attention. And it's like, get it. And you can say there's no harm in saying pay attention. Like that's not helping. That's just good common sense. Or like Scott said to me at the Lato roadblock, like use your connections. Like because he couldn't give me help. But that's his way of saying to me, like, if you're going to ask other people, ask other people. So there are things you can say.

[00:32:09] See, I like that. Yeah. And I think that's important. Like, yes, if you assuming you know your partner, even if you don't at the beginning, be like, hey, if we have some code words, if we have some something like, but you can only anything that comes across as encouragement, even if it doesn't like not specific. Like if I'm saying to you, like, you know, like whatever the code word is means stop what you're doing. Look around something up.

[00:32:35] Like, yeah, you should have those conversations with your partner beforehand because that can be really valuable. Now, like Cesar said, if say I was like, Ricky, look, chair. And immediately Ricky stops and turns around. Would like production step in or like they will let it go? Because I guess what I'm asking is if you do create these cold words, because listen, this is Purple Pants Podcast. I'm going to rewatch this, the cheat code.

[00:33:05] Like, should you, if I'm Ricky and I hear Cesar, first of all, how do we get to Le Cher? And how do we fall behind on his first date? I think if in episode 11 we hear the shirt, like the shirt. Okay. We would know that something is happening. Yeah. If you were like, if it was like a repeated thing, they would know. So maybe at that point it will be like, uh, like, you know. Change the code word.

[00:33:28] But also, like, I think Ricky is a good enough, like, he's smart enough to know that if he hears Le Cher, maybe what he does is like, thanks, babe. And like turns around to like say thank you and then goes, oh, shoot, I dropped something completely unrelated. You got to like find a way to find it. He's not going to be like, oh, Le Cher means I dropped something. Like, it's just, there's waves, you know? Yeah. So when we started this podcast, we should have said Le Cher's to the shades. The blind.

[00:33:58] Yeah. I'm doing the best I can. We're working remotely today. So we're doing the best we can. It's happening. I'm on page three of 16. So, okay. I don't have one question. Go. Keep going. Your questions are fantastic. Because I don't know if anything was on the additional information. But like, I see why Floyd as a super fan thought that, hey, I'm just going to go. I'm going to drop everything. Come back and do it again.

[00:34:28] Do you think, do you remember, like, was there something in there, like on the additional info that said you have to take everything? I do not think this one had additional information. I think this one was legitimately load the bike, ride the bike. You could have walked the bike. But, because I do remember, because I did save, I wrote down every clue. I didn't always write down additional information. But if it had said, like, he was so genuinely surprised he had to take everything back.

[00:34:58] I can't imagine that any additional information said. He would have caught it. Yeah. Yeah. Also, I felt like he knew towards the end, he knew he had dropped. Could he have left the bike where it was, run back once? Because, like, he did fall over and it wasn't, like, eye shot. Like, could he have run over and, like, left? That might be the only thing he could have done. Like, run the entire course back, grab his stuff, ran all the way back. But honestly, production might have stopped him because it might have stopped him.

[00:35:28] But at least they would have stopped him. Also, what he probably could have done, if we're really looking at Chief of System, is right before he got to the guy, if he knew he dropped things, unload the bicycle. Unload the entire thing. Ride your bike back to the beginning. Pick up the ones you missed. Reload it right in front of the guy. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, because he didn't have to bring that giant load. Yeah, yeah. Unless he said, like, he must stay with you at all times. The one thing that...

[00:35:56] But if you drop things, you drop things. I'm right before the guy. He's like, who dropped it? Dropped 17 bundles. My bad. I guess I'm going to go back and try and find all the things I dropped. The one thing that he stayed with the whole time was his helmet. And I was like, that's where his mistake and his, like, downfall was. He started loading that bike with his helmet on through the whole thing. And I was like, no.

[00:36:24] Now I'm trying to be a Cesar here and think astutely. Because now it's like, you know. And a challenge like this. So it was 17, 13, whatever. Say I put on my bike 20 big and 20 of the small in the event that one might fall off. And say I get there and it's 20 and 20. Like, do you think that would still count?

[00:36:53] Like, they're like, or... I think if you knew the right number and you overloaded your bicycle and then when you got there... The thing is, if it's wrong, he's like, go back and redo it. So if you knew the right number, you overloaded your bicycle. Right before you got there, you recounted and took off anything that was still extra. I think that also would have been fine. But again, I have a question, actually, for Cesar. In which one of your past lives were you a bicycle mechanic? Okay, right.

[00:37:23] Yeah, because I feel like you've done everything. And he's going to tell us a story. Go ahead, because I know what's coming. Yeah, and what is it? No, no, no, no. Not even fishing with those kind of baskets. Nothing, no. We might have found Cesar's weakness. What age did you start riding bikes? And don't say six months. No. I actually started riding a bike very late. Not until I was like eight. Oh. I don't know how old I was. A two-wheeler? I didn't ride a two-wheeler. I was just scared.

[00:37:53] Oh my God, were you riding a tricycle at eight? Probably. I guess I had training wheels. Or I just didn't ride a bike because I didn't have a two-wheeler yet. No shit. They did. But here's the thing. I want one. Have y'all seen the big tricycles like they have now? I want one. I want one. Like adult tricycles? Yes. Really? Yeah. Can we all get them and go on like a biking tour with huge tricycles?

[00:38:22] If we could take some shots of tequila first, yes. If we can. I mean, I would be mad if we did. We can't take some shots. Yes. If we can. We can. Know your audience, man. I do think that this leg and maybe leg eight where I did the marching, the changing of the guard. I think these are probably the only two episodes where we legitimately chose the right person for the roadblock. Everything else was probably wrong.

[00:38:51] But this one was it. So, go ahead. Well, I was just, I was thinking, Scott knew something when y'all was riding there. And mind you, normally I don't love when you and Scott fight. But this episode, Scott was hilarious. He was like, come on, Brooke. She's having birth. I have to say, I did not hear. The good part about this is I didn't hear. She's giving birth. It's twins. He was saying it so that the camera could hear.

[00:39:20] But I'm going to see my 20 feet back and I couldn't hear it. I did notice at some point he was like, come on, babe. You can do this, babe. And I'm like, you know what? Okay. Like, we just, the way we communicated in this one was so much better, even though he was completely mocking me when I was grunting like an animal 20 feet behind him. But it was so, it was just so amazing though. Like, cause it was like out of nowhere, it's like, oh, but this is what I will say.

[00:39:50] When I finally have a child, I'm going to call him like from labor and delivery and be like, does this sound like biking? The child was later, at this point it was, you take spinning class every day. Every day. I want to be very clear. I took like a handful of spin classes and I was like, I'll be fine. Like, it's okay. Okay.

[00:40:11] Here is my one note that I have to say, because this is where in the race, we've only had 10 episodes, but we are not hearing Brooke say, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't. Now, mind you, she might be three centimeters dilated. Her water has broke and the babies are coming, but she is saying, I can do this.

[00:40:39] And that struck me because I was like, this is the first time we heard it. And I'm like, okay, Ms. Brooke Cam, like, we see you. So I just, I just want to point that out that like, I was like, oh. I do think also it was, it was sort of because, and again, I didn't hear the baby comments, but what I did hear was like, come on, you can do this. Like, babe, you got this. Like just a few more stairs or like, take your time, keep moving.

[00:41:07] And like, just like you got, like, I feel like the reassurance I was getting in this episode helped me be like, yes, I can. And because somebody else thought I could, I also thought I could. Whereas in other episodes, I know there was frustration and he was frustrated. He's like, we're not going to win. You're too slow. And I'm like, I am too slow. We're not going to win. So for me, and it's very different for Scott because he like internally, he doesn't want me to cheer him on at all.

[00:41:32] But for me, having a partner be a cheerleader telling me I can do it is like, wait, I can do it. Like, shut up, Brooke. You can do this. And so that was very helpful. And I think that switch really helps in this situation. So let's see. Floyd. Yeah, I know. I'm serious. So, so dumb. So Floyd's super confident. They're off. We see Floyd drop things.

[00:42:02] We talked about that. And here's where I talk about where Becca, the things that I made a list of things Becca probably could have said. But we've talked about that. So that's fine. I will say I need more Floyd in my life, in my personality, because even when he knows he's not doing super well, he's like, I've got this. I'm going to be good. But like, he's his best type, which was awesome. It's which even makes it more. Oh, my God. I definitely cried. Matt, meanwhile, is having no issue.

[00:42:31] He zoomed down the road. He got his stuff done. He did come back and help Floyd as much as he could. And I like that. I know Bryce is probably a little bit annoyed about the helping. No, I'm not. I am. I do get a little prickly about the helping, but I think Matt slash Zach helping Floyd in that moment was like perfect. Boom, boom, and boom. That's all you can do. Yeah, super quick. Right. Now, there was other helping. Sorry, go ahead. No, but just saying there was other helping that went on that like I.

[00:43:01] You're talking about Floyd in London? I am. No problem with that. Right. Two things to say about this, and I love London dearly. She's one of my closest friends. Two things. One, when Matt thought Matt and Floyd were so far ahead at this point that when Matt saw that Floyd had dropped a few, there was a part of me that wanted Matt to pick him up. To go on my desk.

[00:43:28] But you can't expect somebody to do that, but I kind of really wanted him to because if that had happened, all else being equal, somebody else would have gone home. Not us. Somebody else. But here's the thing, though. Like, that's what I was hoping that was going to happen. But also, Floyd dropped stuff at the start. So, like, there's no way I would expect Matt, like, maybe if he was, like, 10 feet away. Yeah. There's no way.

[00:43:58] Once he gets back, he sees that and is going back. Like, that's unreasonable. I agree. But what I also think wouldn't have been totally unreasonable, except I have a caveat to this. London's bike broke, so she couldn't have ridden it. So at that point, she had to walk her bicycle. But given how much Floyd had helped her when she fell over, if her bicycle had still been working, I bet that she would have done more to help him. What more could she have done?

[00:44:28] Picked up some dropped things. But she also couldn't have done that because her bicycle was broken. And also, Joey drove past her at that point. So there's only so much helping you can do. Matt was a little bit of a different situation. But again, how much do you expect somebody? And I know we're jumping all over the place. But again, one of my issues is, and again, I love London.

[00:44:50] But like when, and I don't know if this is more a thing of the editing, but obviously when Floyd helps London and we see him like kind of sort of tumble. And then the camera shows us more of the, the baskets on the ground, which will lead the audience to believe like, because he's helping her, his basket fell. So that's like my issue with Floyd helping London because I would have.

[00:45:19] Because it was dropped at the start. So it's not like. Well, not at this start. Oh, you're right. That's what I'm saying. So like, I, like, I would be so curious to know, like, did it just drop or was it because I'm helping? Because this is where I say, like, I think it is all fair to help teams. But at a certain point, we're at episode 10. I love Ricky and I love Cesar.

[00:45:43] But let's share your ass somewhere else because I would have to ride on by. I would have to say Dawson prayers. I know, but Floyd is such a good person and London was just like crying with stuff. Like, please. Like, I don't think there's a world where Floyd hears someone saying, please, please help or he doesn't help. He's just that. He was going to help regardless. He probably would have helped even if she hadn't asked. Yeah. Yes.

[00:46:13] Yeah. I. So anyway. I'm making the sound that I make when pain leaves my body. Excellent. And Joey and Tara have found this temple and they get to their speed bump. Their speed bump is collect six dozen. So. Okay. I heard six originally. No, six dozen.

[00:46:35] Because I was like, no, this is where I would so have race brain because like a dozen means 12. So that means I would have to times 12 by six. 72. And. I do have to give them credit. You don't have to times it. You could just pick up 12 and be like, here's a second 12. Here's a third 12. Another. Yeah. I have another.

[00:47:02] I have to give them credit because they learned from their mistake on the previous episode. Right. Tara didn't read properly and they end up with two mannequins. They end up on last place and something like that affect them all the way. Yeah. So now they're running away with the clue as they just had tweeted. And Joey goes like, wait, what was it? Was it six, six? Oh, sorry. Six, six, six dozen.

[00:47:27] And I just felt like the fact that the editing left that is like, hey, they learned from their mistake. And I'm just wondering. Yeah. But like they weren't going to collect six dozen. And the answer was six. They would have collected six and been told not complete. And they would have reread. The fact that they learned from their mistake. That's true. Okay. Okay. Woo. So let's see. London and Logan are heading to the roadblock.

[00:47:56] Brooke is saying to herself, don't give up. Don't give up. Good for me. Matt finds a delivery guy. He gets the right number of things. And he's in first place. Floyd mistakenly thinks he can go back and pick up all the ones that she does. Which I watched this 10 seconds a bunch of times. The look on Floyd's face when he's like, okay, I'm just going to go back and get them. And the guy's like, I have to take the whole bike back. Here's the thing that pissed me off about this season the most.

[00:48:26] You know, Ricky and Cesar, your season was filled with amazing, like, fluid and like colorful judges. And Brooke and I always love the judges. And like on this season, the judges have been lacking. They're not as whatever. And it just broke my heart that the most colorful and like the best judge we have here is the judge here telling Floyd no.

[00:48:53] Because he definitely was like, just does this. If it wasn't Floyd in this situation, I would be like, let's nominate this judge. Because I love a good, strict, no contact. Don't hug me. Don't touch. Get away. But like. He said, no, no, no, no. Take your clue and go. But like, I was like, why does this. Why do we have to have the best judge? But at the worst moment.

[00:49:23] Oh. I genuinely think that if I were doing this, because I thought about this. I thought about it the day it happened. Remember this. I thought I would think that as soon as the judge said, take your bike back, I would have unloaded the bicycle just right out of his eyesight and ridden the whole course again. Because who's to say you can't do that? It's like. How long is it taking you to? Well, was taking them to load the bike? It is a lot. Who cares? Less than it would take. Like, you're not going to risk dropping. You're not going to risk dropping them again.

[00:49:51] I guess you're right. I don't know. That's just my thought. Anyway. Whatever. Okay. So. Then there's a quick shot of Scott finding a gnome. Me just saying I'm trying. I honestly, at this point, I think I'm just too hot to yell. Like, I just think maybe I'm not so loud this episode, except for on the bike, because I'm just too effing hot. Which is why we're like getting along well. And then they go right back to Matt Redman. Matt returns.

[00:50:21] Of course, Beck is like, I think I should have done this one. She's a legitimate, like, biker, climber. Yeah. Maybe she should have done this one. But Matt Redman get the rude information that says ride to this denti. The. Yeah. Uh-huh. Get your next clue. I will massacre the language. So I shouldn't even try. And this ride, this stretch of it, I think was actually the hardest because you were going out to the water.

[00:50:46] And there was like no page streets and lots of brought, like, I feel like anyone could have just tumbled over their bicycle at any time. But they're going, they're moving. Joey and Tara are splitting up the duck eggs and doing it very fast. And Joey's actually kind of having a good time. He's like, I got this. We're good. Like, he's also hyping himself. I refuse to call him that. So. Is Giuseppe Joey in Italian? She started calling him that when we went to Italy. Oh.

[00:51:16] That's such a. It seems like Giuseppe is so much longer than like. Yeah, that's what she started calling him. It looks like Joseph, you know. Oh, okay. So I wonder what, I wonder what Joey would be. If Giuseppe is Joseph, what you think Joey would be? Giuseppe? It's that. Anybody watching speaks Italian, please. Yes. Let us know what Joey is.

[00:51:46] Giuseppe? Maybe it'd just be Joe. But then, so why wouldn't Joseph be just. Okay, never mind. I gotta tell you. We have to jump the shark at this minute. Anyway, London and Logan find the roadblock. Logan does. London does it. Sorry, my bad. And Floyd gets the no. And he can't unload and he has to go back for Floyd. Matt and Redmond then find the next thing. I am convinced. There was no detour of this leg. And so I am convinced that this was part of a detour.

[00:52:16] There was probably something. Here's the thing. Redmond couldn't do this task. Just like Redmond couldn't do. I don't think he could have done the bungee jumping. Because they clip the bungee jump to your ankles. And so. It was a full harness. It was a full thing. But also your ankles. And so. Because you don't. Could Shamar have done the bungee jumping? Like physically could he? Or.

[00:52:45] I just want to know if the harness and everything. If it would fit. I wanted to see that bungee jump. I could adjust it. So bad. Okay. So. Matt and Redmond find the clue box. Thank y'all. Thank y'all. I missed it. Did I miss it? It was something for the gays. It was something for the homosexuals. No worries. I hate it when things go over my head. Okay. So. No, girl. It go over your head, girl.

[00:53:15] It went over. Never mind. Just go on. That's the problem. You was looking upset. Hey. Go on, bro. Okay. So. Matt and Redmond get to the next clue. You have to row a boat using your feet. To this dragon boat. And. But first you have to put together this little offering for the dragon boat people. And there was a current. This water was not still water. Also. I tried to do it for a second. Shit's impossible. Like. I don't know how.

[00:53:46] These tiny little humans. With just. The. They're so graceful. Because I dropped things. They really were graceful. They were so graceful. Holding umbrellas with their feet. And just rowing with their feet. Like it's nothing. And I guess if you practice. But. You can't be taller than a certain height. You can't. Like. Poor Logan couldn't do it. Because. He was so tall. That his like. Hip flexors didn't allow his legs to move. That much. Anyway. Redmond can't do it. And so Matt's doing.

[00:54:16] It's funny. Because I feel like most of the people who did. The biking. Did the rowing. So it was a very hard leg day for. Some people. They also gave you a stick. So you had the two oars. And you had a stick. And the stick was just in case the current took you. There were some islands. Like sort of like in this water. Or dragons. Masses. No. It was to push off like the island. Or dragons. What do you mean? Or dragons. Logan ran into the dragon. Oh yeah. They did run into a dragon.

[00:54:45] That's true too. I guess you could have pushed off that. But I was trying to push off the little island. Because I was trying to help. I don't know what position. Logan was in. But I. That's the birthing position. If anyone's giving birth. Well. Call me a doula. Because I'd like to deliver that baby. Okay. Current or not. Okay. London is looking the wrong. London in the. London in the gnome. They facing the wrong direction. The helper.

[00:55:15] Let me. Well we can't see her faces under her hat. But I'm sure she's looking. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. That's. They're not used to seeing people who are just so massively big. He's just so tall. So anyway. Let's see. Current, current, current. Yep. We get to the roadblock. We're guzzling the water. There's a horrible picture which I'm certain that Bryce is going to show me. With this stupid yellow towel on my head where I look like a drowned rat. Like. I didn't even.

[00:55:44] Thank God I remember cameras were on me. Because it was just. The whole thing was ugly. I thought you were a Muslim woman. I just was paying respect. But that's how I knew. The towels that we drenched in water and put on our head were dry within minutes. Minutes. Like it was so hot. The towels just dried in like 90 seconds. It was unbelievable. So we get there and Becca is screaming for Floyd. Like Floyd had to bring everything back. But somehow.

[00:56:14] And still somehow. He's still saying positive. I do yell at Scott to pay attention to detail. Which is to remind him like. Make sure you're not dropping stuff as you're going. Watch your path. And Tara and Joey are now also headed to the roadblock. The boys deliver this offering to the Dragon Ball people. And yes. Question. Was it me? But like this. London and Logan got there before y'all. And it seemed like.

[00:56:43] Scott and you got there after. Scott left. Came back. Before London even left. Is that like correct in my notes? I think London. I think London had left. I don't know. So we did get there after. And Scott did it fast. Because I remember. They were sort of working together to count the. Traps. And he was just off. He's like. I'm going to do it. I'm going to go. I counted. Scott left before. London even.

[00:57:13] Pushed off. Did he get. What did he get back? I don't think. I think he did. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He got back. Like y'all left. And again. I just. He was an intersection. Yeah. Okay. So in my notes. In my notes. I have like Scott asked for a hug. And they're like. Okay, don't hug me. Just high five. Right. And then he goes back. And then. They show London. Asking Floyd for help. So like. They didn't cross on the road. Or they didn't show it.

[00:57:43] Yeah. Shout out to Scott. Because like. That's when Scott comes back. I'm like. Did you get it? You got it? I don't know if London and Floyd were still there. They may just not have shown. No, they were there. Like we see them. Okay. Then he got back quickly. I mean. You were there. Yes. But it was all. I was. Well, I just wanted to just shout out to Scott. Because like. He did a great job. He did that. Like. 100%.

[00:58:13] So anyway. The boys. Have given their offerings to the. To the Dragon Ball people. And they are told they have to go to Hangwa Peak. And climb 500 steps. To. Up this mountain. To fill. Like. This thing. Is legitimately. The most daunting. It's like. We had a bunch of. I wish the pit stops were behind me. Because we had a bunch that were up steps. And that Norway thing was really hard. But it was like ramp steps. Ramp steps.

[00:58:43] This thing. That does not do it justice. Like. You could just see. It looked like way more than 500. And I. I to this day will say. It was made way more than 500. Because like. I don't know what they were counting as steps. But since it was carved into the side of the mountain. Like. Some of those were half steps. And some of those were big steps. Like. They were not like. Even. Yeah. Steps. Right. Okay. People were like literally leaning over. Like climbing. And you know like.

[00:59:12] When the boys got there. And Phil was at the top. And he started talking to them. I was like. Bitch. Where is the mat? And then they had to like. Climb up again. To get to the mat. I was like. Oh. Wow. I think it was here. And not in Norway. We were. Because there was no. Road to the top of this. Like in Norway. You could not have driven to the top of this. But. I do. Tell Mike and Liz. I do think. We ran into some tourists.

[00:59:42] And it was either here in Norway. But I think it was here. Because I was like. This is. This is. Cruel. Like this is just not okay. And I remember some like. Yes. And I remember some big dude being like. Where are you? Come on. I know. I know. I'm like. Do. I'm not. I'm talking to you. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. You literally said. That can't be right. That can't be right. And Scott's like. What? Why can't you write? I'm like. Because it's torture.

[01:00:12] And it really was. But I'm trying to remember which leg it was. But I think it was this one. Where we found some tourists. And the guy was like. My big ass did it. You can do it. You've got this. And like. I was like. And I think I was like. How long did it take you? He was like. Don't ask that question. You just can do it. Okay. But I know we're jumping around. But I also like. That moment with you and Scott. When you're like. You literally. You stop. And you're like. This is torture. And Scott's like. Come on. Let's do it. Like again. Ricky and Stacey.

[01:00:42] You know Brooke be on the Facebook. And like. You know. A lot of the Facebook community. Gives Brooke hate. And. But she chooses to continue to. To dwell there. I just want to use that. As a prime example. Of like. What you said. Ricky. Like. Brooke. Her internal thoughts. Are out loud. Like obviously. She knows she has to go up that hill. She knows whatever. But like literally. She's like. Wait a minute. Bitch. I ain't doing that. We're not. And like. Scott's like. Girl. And at that moment. That's when.

[01:01:11] That's when you transform. Into Scott. Because Scott is like. Girl. Can I. Please get. A number. Two plates. And so that's when you. Transformed into Scott. But I just wanted to point that out. That like. You do. You just say what's on your mind. Right? Like where you literally are like. We can't do that. Scott's like. I stopped in my tracks. When I looked up. I was like. Oh. That is a mountain. That is not. That is a legit. Mountain.

[01:01:41] Preserve the right. To put a different picture up. Because that does not show it. But. Okay. So anyway. Back to what's happening. Scott comes back. And he screams. Brooke. You better not complain at all. About what we're doing next. Because I just did that. And I do not complain at all. About what we do next. Because he's absolutely right. Scott. Had leg day that day. So this is where. London falls. Floyd's helping. It's literally hard to watch. Floyd's like slow and steady.

[01:02:10] Wins the amazing race. I know outside. Sometimes slow and unsteady. Might win the amazing race. I wish there was a statistic. On how many teams that have won. Have ever said. Slow and steady wins the race. Because I don't think. Any of the winners. Have ever said. Slow and steady. But I feel like. I'm not ready for. The Cesar shade. I agree.

[01:02:41] It's like. Conniving. And. Raging mess. Sometimes wins the amazing race. Or like. You know. Had 4,000 different jobs. Over the course of my lifetime. And kind and beautiful. Also. Sometimes wins the amazing race. So. Yeah. I wonder if any of like. These super super fans. That keep the statistics. Of that. Have that. Like. I mean. You've heard people say. It's a marathon. Yeah. But no. Like. Slow and steady. When people say.

[01:03:10] Slow and steady. I'm like. Okay. They didn't win this season. Never say it. You will. Not. Wait. Wait. Shout out to Angie. No. 3,700. Slow and steady. Slow and steady. Actually. Do not win the race. Got it. Okay. So. Joey shows up at the roadblock. And he decides to do it. I actually wonder what would have happened. If he didn't. But he decides to do it. Matt Redman. Gets the pit stop. They'll tell them they're in first place.

[01:03:41] And they tell us about that leg. What'd you say? And then they do tell us about that leg. That it is made from carbon fiber. Tell us. And then it's another leg joke ensues. But I love Redman. So I have no problem with it. They win something. Stay true. Tell you. What was it? Costa Rica. Costa Rica. Yes. They go to Costa Rica. Side note. Some of the cast and I went to Costa Rica after it aired. So we all got to go to Costa Rica. I know.

[01:04:11] We did a little trip to Costa Rica. So. Let's see. Wait. Did you go with Matt and Redman? Like. I went with. With them. London was there. Seth was there. Olive was there. Who else went on that trip? I got to go back and look at it. Shamir. No. Tara. Vank. Oh, look at the pictures. I'll tell you. Ashton. You know what? You guys can talk about. Picture that. Uh. No.

[01:04:41] I just was curious. Who. Who went on this trip? Can you pause it for a second? Yes. Yes. So Costa Rica with Seth, Olive, Brooke and London. And then we had a trip to New York where we had Scott, Sarah, Vank, Shamir, Olive, me. Oh. Show us the photo of Shamir. Where's Shamir? Let me blow up some photos. Hold on.

[01:05:08] That's Shamir and Mike to get like we got Shamir and Mike together. We got this. So this one is Chicago with Kevin and Sarah and Brooke and London. Yeah, we did some trips. Oh, I got one for you, Bryce. Hold on. Brooke and Seth in Costa Rica. Hold on. Wait, wait, wait. Let's. Ooh. Ooh. We're scuba diving. Where did you, Tara and Ashton go? I wasn't on the trip.

[01:05:38] Oh. We got the girls and we got this is this is Becca and Shamir and Vank and Brooke and London. We got all sorts of. Time out. Please zoom in on Shamir for us. Oh, wait. Is that Vank? Oh, my God. Yes. Look at Vank. Yes. Wonderful humans. We I'm so sorry if anyone actually cared about the order of this episode. Cause shit went to hell. Anyway. Yeah.

[01:06:07] I don't know where we are. What's happening. Anyway. Right. Okay. And so at this point, Scott and I are at the rowboats. Now Scott gets in the boat and I'm in charge of the offering, which I'm fine with because it's like, this is the attention to detail part. I'll take care of putting this together. He gets in the boat and he's like, I'm going to practice the motion while you put together the offering. You know, Scott, Scott know the motion in the ocean. He needs to stop playing.

[01:06:34] And, but thanks to his big size, he's doing well, except for the fact that the current is actually legitimate. I'm using the pole. He's like, stop yelling at me. And I'm like, I'm really not yelling. I'm trying to encourage. I'm not yelling at you. I'm trying to do things differently. So I just stopped talking, which is totally fine. And then this is the point where Matt and Redmond check into the pit step. And we've already talked about that. So it doesn't matter. Joey's doing the roadblock. London gets a yes. And she's in third place. And Floyd right there and gets the no while London's standing there.

[01:07:03] And it's like, what do you do? Right? Like you're working together. You're trying to help. But Joey's coming up in the rear and Joey's also doing it and catching up. And then what is London supposed to do? I think she does all that she can do. Right? I mean. Yeah. I think that's horribly. Exactly what I would have done. It would have been like, I'm so sorry. Like, I got to go. The thing is, if London was like, what can I do to help? I'll help however I can. I feel like Floyd would have been like, it's okay. Go.

[01:07:33] Right. Floyd would have told her to go because he's just the best human that's ever existed. So, okay. So Floyd gets to know. He's talking about him. He doesn't know if he can keep going physically. And it's just like, here's the thing. I say, I don't know if I can keep going. Yes, I can. Like, I'm dramatic. He says he doesn't know if he can keep going. Like, he's legitimately. Yeah. Suffering. Yeah. Because he's not dramatic. You can see it. I mean, you can see how like. Yeah.

[01:08:02] We see like, even when London and London and Floyd get there first, he gets his no. He goes in the shade. He's chilling. Like, London goes. Joey comes. He's still in the shade. I'm like, oh, he must be like. Really? Yeah. That dehydration that he, that's like nothing to play with. So, London's bike is broken. Joey passes right by her. He's in third. London's in fourth. London tells Becca Floyd needs to do it again.

[01:08:31] And it is just like, just the look on Becca's face. They cut back to Floyd. Like, the whole thing is just heartbreaking. Like, I wish them weren't such good people. Yeah. The fun meter plummets to the trash. Yeah. And Floyd then goes back, finds his missing bundle. He's still, at this point, staying optimistic, which I don't freaking understand. We get to the dragon boat. I'm like, let the current drag you home, Scotty.

[01:09:01] And we are just, we're like kind of in a great mood. Even though this leg is truly miserable, like, we are, we're jiving and having fun. So, kudos more importantly to Floyd, because I would still be laying in that road 10 years later, like, just not having gotten up. Like, his adrenaline just bottoms out. And he just, he's done. We're finishing the boating as Tara and Joey show up for the boating, as London and Logan show up for the boating.

[01:09:28] And Tara, I don't know if you caught this, is like, this is harder than giving birth. There's like four students all over the place. One more reference to Bird. And she's had several children, so she would know. This leg was hard. I do like another, another example of her, like, telling Joey, like, he's like giving, like, he's like, well, do this, you're gonna, she's like, all right, like, shut up. Like, I got it. Like, I'll figure it out. Just stop talking.

[01:09:58] Right. I feel like her and Scott, yeah, her and Scott, I feel like, are the same. Same kind of, I don't need to be encouraged. I don't need to be told how. I'll figure it out. And like, I feel like Joey and I are a little bit more like, yes, tell us from good. Blah, blah, blah. And so they're a little bit snippy. Logan's too big for the chair. I am legitimately giving it everything I have where I'm going. I do love that they show this movie because they do show the part where like, I can't. Yes, I can. Yeah. I keep them saying I can.

[01:10:27] And, but the funniest moment to me in this episode is, or for us anyways, when we're in the back of that cab and we're talking about the gnome and tat and we're just having fun. And I'm like, if they tell us we're team number two, I'm just going to pee myself. And then Scott, his two little brother ways, like, we are team number two. Team number two. Team number two. Team number two. I'm like, dude. I know. Number two. Like, he's just like, but we, cause that's, we were enjoying each other's company at that point.

[01:10:53] And then we see this now and I'm like, no, thank you. No, thank you. I'll stop here. He's like, you're not stopping. Let me get, let me finish this. And I'm like, okay, fine. Cause you know what? He's right. Cause you heard it with the ladle. You heard it. I don't want to be the reason my teammate goes home. So when he said to me, let me get this second place or let me get this win. And there's something about that where it's like, well, I'm not going to be the reason you don't get it.

[01:11:20] So yes, like that's motivation to me to keep going and it works. So. I want to keep it with them and just like a little parenthesis, because with that thought, I just want to say like how Becca was supportive of Floyd. Cause yeah, the thought of like, I don't want to be the reason that my partner goes, but yet we got a little glimpse at the end and I'm just like now moving way too forward. They were like, but it's like, they were like, so, so, so supportive that it was just like amazing to see it. Yeah. Amazing.

[01:11:50] Cause you weren't getting to the first stuff. No, that's fine. Let's, let's rush. Like, let's go through the, like, let's rush through the airport. Cause now I'm wearing like, so London, they run into a dragon boat. We get to the top, we come in second. Wait, hold on, wait. You're second place on this one and it does deserve to be talked about. But I just wanted to mention because you were saying like the feeling of letting your partner down. And I just thought of Becca at that very moment. Yeah, no.

[01:12:17] You get your second place and it deserves to be talked about because look at those happy faces. But also he's like, what place are you? I'm like, two? Two? They said do the classic millennial pose. Brooke said. But listen. I wouldn't know what that is. I'm too old to have. Well, yes, you are a boomer. So it is, you hope you, you are a couple years younger than.

[01:12:48] But listen. Okay. Shut up. Dale. I'm just joking. But listen, this is what I always say, Brooke. I've never played Amazing Race, Ricky and Cesar, but I always say like the seasons that I have watched, I don't like the dominating teams that like dominate in the beginning. Like you're talking to, you're talking to one of those teams. Well, they, they, they went up the block and came back.

[01:13:18] So it's like, how can you not dominate? No. But, but it's different with Ricky and Cesar. I didn't say it. I didn't say it. It's different with Ricky and Cesar because like it's Ricky and Cesar and like they dominated, but they dominated with grace, tact, and class. And brains. And brains. And so you not, like the way they dominated, you don't, you didn't feel like they were dominating. You, you literally were like, well, what the hell has Ricky and Cesar not done? Right.

[01:13:48] Like you did, but you didn't hate it because they were just so joyful to root for. But there are, there are teams and you guys are the Amazing Race savants where like there are teams that like flex their muscles too soon. And I'm always like, stay in the back if you can. And like at episode 10, what a time for Scott to jump to number two. So again, shout out to Scott. I'm sorry. Scott and Scott. No, no, no.

[01:14:17] Phil says Scott and Scott. So shout out to Scott and Scott and the gnome named Gary. There's some great behind the scenes after this because we have, we, we stand there for a while because we're ahead of the other teams. Also from the top of that mountain, you could see the teams doing the dragon, like you could see the dragon boat lake. Oh wow. So we could see, you know, what was happening below. So anyway, we get there in second. Phil goes on a bit.

[01:14:45] We have a great conversation about how I'm turning into Scott and I don't know how true that is, but I'll take it. Lundson Logan. I'm sorry. Tara and Joey come in third. Lundson Logan catch up to Tara and Joey on the mat, which is a testament to them about how quickly they actually climb those stairs. Now here's the important part of the part where Bryce totally didn't call me sobbing. I swear to God that never happened, but Floyd tries so hard to stand up. He's getting dizzy. Medical comes out and medical is amazing.

[01:15:13] They're pouring water all over him. And he's still trying. He's knowing. I'll get it. I'll try and stand up again. There's no chance. They're still in it. And he's like, I'm still trying. He has no quit in him. He is all fight. I am scared to ask this question. So Bryce and I have, I'm just going to say. But wait, before we go, before, wait, before that, I do also want to say like my heart went

[01:15:42] out to Floyd, but can I tell you like when I started crying, it was Becca because I feel like we've seen throughout this season, like it is team fun, but we also know Becca could crack the whip and Becca is competitive. And like, even when Floyd was in the back, like Cesar said, like she never held it against him. She's like, let's go. We could do it. We could do it. We're in it.

[01:16:05] But it's like when Floyd was on the bike and he fell, you could see the shift in Becca's eyes where it's like, okay, forget the race. Like, is my partner okay? And that is when. Yeah, I know. That's when it was.

[01:16:29] That's when I got emotional because it's like seeing Becca realize that like, it's nothing that we can do right now. Forget the race. Is Floyd okay? Like it hurt. Oh, that is what broke me. Do you know what I noticed? Do you know what I noticed that I found so interesting? It's never Becca who's like, Floyd, do you think you can get up and keep trying? Floyd, do you want to try again?

[01:16:56] It's Floyd saying, I think I can get up and keep trying. And Becca is not at all pushing him to try and do more like the friendship and the camaraderie between the two of them. And the fact that she just cares about his well-being and is never being like, just, just try a little, just try and walk it. Just try and do something. And just the, uh, the support between the two of you.

[01:17:22] And then the fact that when they're eliminated, they wrap themselves out and they're like, I wrote it down because I just thought it was so cute. Like team fun out here, living the dream. Becca and Floyd are loving this race. See you at the finish line. Taken. Well, just wait, standing there and waving and saying, yeah. But to think that these people were strangers 20 days before that. I don't believe it. I don't believe it. They knew each other. They were best friends. I don't believe it. Like they're just too perfect together.

[01:17:51] I just, so here's the question on the table with no, no, no, no, no. Oh my God. My words don't work. No input from Brooke or Bryce. Ricky and Cesar. Was this a prelimination? Lechaire. Yes. Yes. No, that's Cesar. Ricky and Lechaire. They both say yes. Prelimination. Oh, okay. Now. It could be one of two things.

[01:18:18] It could have, it could be like production and medical was like, you are unwell. You cannot move forward. We have, hold on. Let me, let me keep going. We have, you need to see medical care. Now on our season, we had someone so dehydrated. They went to the ER after they hit the mat, got fluids, like eat, like IV and everything and came back and continued racing. Now if. Yes. No, it wasn't like that. Yes. It's exactly what happened. It wasn't drop names. Who was it? Who was it? Who was it? Drop names.

[01:18:47] They finished. They were dehydrated. Went to the ER, got fluids. Came back and raced the next day. The next day. The next day. Yeah. Now if they, there was enough time for them, for him to actually rehydrate and everything. Like. No, but then. They could have kept racing. No, because they were already. Floyd was like, I'm not giving up. I don't want to quit. I'm not quitting. So he never once said, I'm out of this race. I quit. And medical did not stop him.

[01:19:15] Phil just came to them because everyone else has already checked in. So if I can't. Phil went down all those 500 and half the steps. He can't. He's going to eliminate him. That's a volumination. So. Matt, to go on the course because everybody's checked in. The time for you to recover and to get to the mat would be too far. You're. And it's not an automation. Right. Right. Oh, Bryce, you're outvoted. So, I mean, listen, normally I would agree.

[01:19:45] And normally this would be something that Brooke would say is not a Phil elimination. No, he's telling him. Just that. Just that. Just that. Just that. Just that. Just that. The only thing that I feel like makes this not everything is right. Other than I feel like medical is clearly pulling him from the race. But it doesn't matter. But it does.

[01:20:12] If you like because of elimination, you have to be actively competing in a challenge and disagree. It's not the act of Phil coming to you. Yes, it is. That's what a elimination is disagreeing. It would be. It would be like getting a flat tire. You don't get recovery time for that. So if you hurt yourself, they are there. They could. Well, if they're there, because if not, they might be like somewhere around. They could arrive. Try to help you.

[01:20:42] And like, for example, let's go back to what was it? Season Connor and his dad. Connor, what's his name? 24. Father. The Achilles heel. The Achilles heel. Like he goes to the doctor and everything. And then they come to the mat. But he hopped the mat. Yeah. Yeah, but he made it to the mat. But you know what? Let me ask you this. The flat tire example is a great example. Let's say we were driving and not biking and somebody got a flat tire.

[01:21:09] And while they're either trying to change the tire or while they're waiting for a tow truck, everybody else checks in. So Phil comes to tell you, sorry, don't bother with your tire. Everyone else has already checked in. Yeah. Elimination. So I, yes. But again, the only thing that I'm saying is we constantly see, and again, I don't want to belabor it because it's Floyd. And so I do want to like just agree with y'all, but I'm never just going to agree with Brooke on this. But like we see them constantly have him stand up and he's like, I'm a little.

[01:21:38] And like, so they're pulling him from the race, whether they show it or not. So, but for, for the sake of this argument, I'll say let's share. That's fine. I'm just saying whether they pull him or they don't pull him, it doesn't matter. Oh, now you know when the bag. Now you know when the bag. You know what? Can I just, can we just for a second talk about how amazing that team was?

[01:22:06] Have a moment of silence for Becca and Floyd. How wonderful and supportive and great they were. And just honestly, if I'm out like that, I'm not joking around at the finish and or at the end of this leg and, you know, wrapping ourselves out. Like just the best positive attitudes. I want to take whatever. That's what they call an all-stars. So if you are going on the race and you want to come back for an all-stars. See you again.

[01:22:37] I thought you were going to say something else. I thought he was going to say get dehydrated and pass out. No, wrap. Just wrap. The opinions of Cesar do not represent the opinions of everybody on this podcast. Don't get dehydrated and pass out. Do not get dehydrated and pass out. Yeah. This was just be the most lovable team that's ever run the race, present company excluded.

[01:23:07] This was- You guys were lovable. Wow. It was a compliment. Thank you. I thought you were talking about yourself. I was like- No, you're the present company excluded. Most lovable team? Hardly. I didn't say most lovable team. We loved you. Oh. I love watching you. I think it's- Again, you had a very hard season with crazy challenges. On top of that, a stranger. Like, yeah. Wait, you were on season three, right?

[01:23:37] Oh, no. 29. 29. But, Ricky, I continue to tell Brooke this as we are re-watching, is that, again, I also feel- And I would say it to her every time we record. I think watching back live and getting the live reaction from the time of the world. Yeah. Again, hard. But in retrospect, like, it's like, Brooke, you are the star of the season.

[01:24:05] Like, if I did not know you, I would be cussing you out, but I also would be defending you, and I would be rooting for you. It's like, you and Scott are like the oddballs. And it's like, there's something about that that I relate to, where it's like, I want to root for you. And it's like, you do and say a lot of crazy stuff, but it's like, you always pull through. You don't ever give up.

[01:24:32] Like, it's like, it's so crazy. And so, like- It's definitely true. We're definitely not milquetoast, so. I agree with you. And you guys are strong. And it's like, you're smart. Like, even when you guys were at the offering table, girl, you- Like, it's like, you show up. And I think sometimes, obviously, they knew what would be better TV to show of, like, the Brooke-isms.

[01:25:02] But, like, there are, re-watching this, there are so many Brooke-isms where it's like, you are a scholar of the race. And so, although it was not a filumination, you are a queen. And, like, I hope this- I love that he said something nice about me right after it, so I didn't even argue about the fact that he's wrong. But I will say, I mean, I appreciate you saying all of that because it was, in watching it initially, very difficult because there was a lot.

[01:25:30] This was like, I feel, correct me if I'm wrong, I feel like this was, like, the sweet spot of, like, cyberbullying. Like, social media wasn't big enough that it happened. And then social media blew up and, like, cyberbullying happened. And now I feel like everything's become a bit softer where, like, people are not used to it, but, like, speaking up against it so it happens less in current times. And I just feel like it was just sort of in that sweet spot of just, like, people were

[01:25:59] not afraid to say very, very horrible things to you. And I just want to, in case any of the producers ever watched this, thank you so much to the Amazing Ray's team because not only were they like, we will help you in any way possible, but they're like, do you need to speak to somebody? Like, we were, like, they were just fantastic. And also thank you to the people who said nice things because I do remember, like, getting stuff on the subway. I was outside Bloomingdale's. Ricky was inside buying a shirt.

[01:26:28] I bet he was. And I remember a mother and her daughter coming up to me and just, this was one of the most moving things that it was while it was airing. They came up to me and they're like, okay, we think you're this girl that's on TV. You're her. Yeah. And I was like, that's okay. What are you going to say? And she's like, this is my daughter. We are watching the show together and she is learning resilience through you. And I was like, this is the nicest thing anybody's ever said.

[01:26:54] So for all those assholes out there, like, when this happened, and it did, it definitely happened. So, like, it's not like everyone was mean, but stuff like that, just leave with kindness, people. That's all I wanted to say about that. Because it means so much more. Because the mean is louder, but the kindness is more meaningful. Yeah. I don't know. And I just think it also just teaches us that we can get a hundred compliments and three negative things, and we will always focus on the negative.

[01:27:24] And so I think, you know, you should always focus on the positive. And Brooke, you are amazing, Ricky. And Cesar, it is always a pleasure. You guys are such a treat to have on. Is there anything that you want to say before you go? Anything you didn't get to say? Anything you want to plug? Anything you want to talk about? Let me go get my ladle. No, just kidding. Just kidding. Just kidding. We love it. If you don't have one, I can make you one. It'll just take me about six hours. We love a handcrafted. Yes.

[01:27:52] It won't look like a ladle. It won't actually strain pasta. But I'll make you something. We're going to hang it on the walls. We're not going to use it. For your birthday. We love you, Jared. Thank you so much for having us. Love you guys. Thank you so much. Always, always. And this has been. What you got, girl? Sorry. Next week. I'd like to do a next. Oh, Becca. I mean, we know what's up with Becca and Floyd because you've seen them on a recap. A couple of episodes ago, but they're all wonderful and fabulous.

[01:28:20] And they survive and they come back and they get to do it again. And Bryce doesn't know how they do on the next one. So we will not tell him. But next week, we go to one of the coolest cities I've ever been to in my entire life. We go to South Korea. We go to Seoul, South Korea. It's a nighttime leg. It is fabulous. And I think Bryce is going to be really, really pleased because certain people who were shown positively are shown negatively. And certain people who were shown negatively, have a good day.
