Back here, day two of our Survivor 46 free season special two of days here with the guy who won. [02:18.380 --> 02:27.380] With the guy who went out to Fiji to talk with the Survivor contestants. Give it up for Mike Bloom. [02:27.380 --> 02:34.380] Yes, we are back on day two day, Yonto, if you will, to talk about another Yonto contestant on Yanoo. [02:34.380 --> 02:44.380] Okay, yesterday we talked about Banu and Jilinsky today. In one podcast, we'll talk about Jess and Kenzie, Mike. [02:44.380 --> 02:50.380] Yes, so Jess is a reminder to set the table. In case you're just joining us, Stu makes the pizza. [02:50.380 --> 02:59.380] But also, I had the privilege of getting to fly out to Fiji to interview these contestants in person face to face days before they played the game. [02:59.380 --> 03:05.380] Did you have the pizza? I did have the pizza actually on my last. I believe I actually sent you a picture of Stu's pizza. [03:05.380 --> 03:10.380] I had it hours before leaving to go to the airport. Yes, how about the Stu? Did you have the Stu? [03:10.380 --> 03:17.380] You know, it was quite warm in Fiji. It wasn't great Stu climate, I would say. [03:17.380 --> 03:21.380] And I don't think Stu, did Stu make the Stu, or were we more so? [03:21.380 --> 03:25.380] We don't find out. Yeah, we were more so implying that. This is not just one guy. [03:25.380 --> 03:31.380] The ponderosa staff are multifaceted and multi-staffed as well. [03:31.380 --> 03:37.380] No doubt. No doubt. Stu is not really the head of this organization. He's just the pizza guy it seems. [03:37.380 --> 03:43.380] Okay, so we are about to listen to Mike's full interview with Jess. [03:43.380 --> 03:47.380] Then we'll come back and talk about that. And then you will hear Mike's full interview with Kenzie. [03:47.380 --> 03:53.380] Of course, all of these interviews as we release them are on our YouTube channel at rob. [03:53.380 --> 03:57.380] com slash YouTube. Mike, what do you want to set up here about Jess? [03:57.380 --> 04:05.380] Jess Chong. She is a software engineer from San Francisco, California. She is 37 years old. [04:05.380 --> 04:13.380] She's a bit of a latecomer to a survivor, but actually a bit earlier than some of the other people on her tribe as we've listened to and will listen to. [04:13.380 --> 04:17.380] And Jess is a very unique personality. I know I keep saying that about this cast, [04:17.380 --> 04:22.380] but I'll continue to beat that drum until people actually understand the general tenor of this cast. [04:22.380 --> 04:29.380] I'm excited to listen to this interview with Jess back because she gave off some really interesting vibes in particular. [04:29.380 --> 04:32.380] And Rob, I really want to get your thoughts as to how she's going to do. [04:32.380 --> 04:36.380] Just based on the way she is really coming across the way I talk to her. [04:36.380 --> 04:43.380] Okay. All right. Great setup. Let's listen to Mike's interview with Jess from Fiji. [04:43.380 --> 04:45.380] And then we'll come back and talk about it. [04:45.380 --> 04:49.380] I mean, let's just get off an easy question. Name age occupation. [04:49.380 --> 04:53.380] Okay. So my name is Jessica Chang. I'm 37 and I work as a software engineer. [04:53.380 --> 04:56.380] Interesting. Is that something you've been doing for a while? [04:56.380 --> 04:57.380] How long is a while? [04:57.380 --> 04:58.380] I mean, that's all the time. [04:58.380 --> 05:01.380] I've been doing it for eight years, which is a long time. [05:01.380 --> 05:02.380] I call that a while. [05:02.380 --> 05:06.380] But then if you consider that I was 29 when I was like, I'm going to become a software engineer. [05:06.380 --> 05:08.380] It doesn't seem like that long. [05:08.380 --> 05:10.380] What does your work entail exactly? [05:10.380 --> 05:14.380] I'm getting into fights with people with me now with guys now. [05:14.380 --> 05:19.380] So I work at a 12 person startup and can I tell you about what we do? [05:19.380 --> 05:20.380] Please. [05:20.380 --> 05:24.380] Oh, we're making a really cool, fast way for people to make slide decks. [05:24.380 --> 05:29.380] And we recently had to hop on the AI bandwagon to get money. [05:30.380 --> 05:31.380] Don't put that online. [05:31.380 --> 05:32.380] Okay. [05:32.380 --> 05:36.380] But basically you like input a prompt and then it generates a slide deck for you. [05:36.380 --> 05:39.380] And obviously like the slide deck that it generates isn't the finished piece. [05:39.380 --> 05:41.380] Like you can go in and edit it. [05:41.380 --> 05:43.380] It's like notion meets Canva. [05:43.380 --> 05:44.380] It's really fun to use. [05:44.380 --> 05:47.380] Is software engineering something you always wanted to do or were you another? [05:47.380 --> 05:48.380] No. [05:48.380 --> 05:52.380] I had no idea that you could become a software engineer when I was a kid. [05:52.380 --> 05:57.380] But when I was like 12 or 13, I was obsessed with making websites. [05:57.380 --> 06:01.380] So I like bought this book that was like this thick about HTML and CSS. [06:01.380 --> 06:07.380] And I owned like a domain with three girls in Canada that I didn't know. [06:07.380 --> 06:11.380] One of them had access to their parents credit card and they like registered a domain name. [06:11.380 --> 06:13.380] And so we just like hosted websites. [06:13.380 --> 06:17.380] I had a WWE fan site, a Christiano fan site. [06:17.380 --> 06:19.380] This is like circa 2000. [06:19.380 --> 06:22.380] And we had like a message board and everything. [06:22.380 --> 06:26.380] And so like I didn't know that you could like have a job doing that. [06:26.380 --> 06:30.380] But also in high school, I didn't want to be the Asian nerd. [06:30.380 --> 06:35.380] So I threw myself into like all the arts and social science kind of stuff. [06:35.380 --> 06:41.380] And kind of was like, I'll just kind of stay abreast of developments there. [06:41.380 --> 06:42.380] But that's not me. [06:42.380 --> 06:45.380] I mean, I don't want to be a nerd that social suicide. [06:45.380 --> 06:48.380] So I studied geography and undergrad. [06:48.380 --> 06:53.380] And I thought I would be, I thought I would work in like writing or editing. [06:54.380 --> 07:02.380] But I ended up, and I ended up in the nonprofit industry and tried a bunch of those things [07:02.380 --> 07:09.380] and then ended up making websites and then actually learning how to write programs in 2015. [07:09.380 --> 07:10.380] Sorry, that was very long winded. [07:10.380 --> 07:11.380] No, please. [07:11.380 --> 07:13.380] I mean, let's move on to the next slide in the deck though. [07:13.380 --> 07:14.380] Yeah. [07:14.380 --> 07:15.380] Why survivor? [07:15.380 --> 07:16.380] Why survivor? [07:16.380 --> 07:18.380] What led to you writing your own program to come out and defeat you. [07:18.380 --> 07:20.380] Oh my God. [07:21.380 --> 07:23.380] So I, a bunch of different things. [07:23.380 --> 07:24.380] I started watching survivor. [07:24.380 --> 07:27.380] So I moved to San Francisco in 2015 to go to this coding boot camp. [07:27.380 --> 07:30.380] And I had not watched survivor ever. [07:30.380 --> 07:36.380] I don't even think I, I don't even think I watched a single episode when it first started airing [07:36.380 --> 07:38.380] when I was in high school. [07:38.380 --> 07:43.380] So, but my husband and his family were obsessed with survivors. [07:43.380 --> 07:45.380] So he would like put on his buff and watch it. [07:45.380 --> 07:47.380] And I'd be like, you're such a normy nerd. [07:47.380 --> 07:48.380] Like what are you doing? [07:48.380 --> 07:49.380] So then I started watching it. [07:49.380 --> 07:53.380] I started watching during cow rung and I was like, this is like addictive. [07:53.380 --> 07:57.380] But I'm also like hate watching it because some of the people on this are really mean. [07:57.380 --> 07:59.380] But then it's got Pollard fans. [07:59.380 --> 08:00.380] Oh my God. [08:00.380 --> 08:02.380] Well, I don't know what he's like in real life. [08:02.380 --> 08:06.380] But when I was watching it, I was like, they're being so mean to that blonde girl to Alicia. [08:06.380 --> 08:10.380] They kept calling her Blondie and like, it was just, it was just like very uncomfortable. [08:10.380 --> 08:14.380] But it was so fun to watch Ty like mess up their caves and stuff. [08:14.380 --> 08:15.380] Oh my God. [08:15.380 --> 08:16.380] Don't put this on. [08:16.380 --> 08:17.380] I know what Scott Pollard going after me. [08:17.380 --> 08:19.380] I have a favorite song. [08:19.380 --> 08:20.380] Oh my God. [08:20.380 --> 08:21.380] He's not watching this. [08:21.380 --> 08:23.380] He has a favorite song. [08:23.380 --> 08:24.380] Okay. [08:24.380 --> 08:29.280] So, but yeah, so I watched cow rung and then I was, and then I just kept watching and watching [08:29.280 --> 08:33.380] and then I was like disappointed every time the first vote out was like an Asian woman. [08:33.380 --> 08:38.680] And then I watched Gabby play and I was like, that's somebody that I could be because she [08:38.680 --> 08:43.380] just like cried so shamelessly and I was like, I could be like Gabby probably. [08:43.380 --> 08:44.380] Interesting. [08:44.380 --> 08:45.380] Yeah. [08:46.380 --> 08:47.380] Yeah. [08:47.380 --> 08:52.380] I feel like yourself with the most it would be someone like Gabby. [08:52.380 --> 08:56.380] In my, I feel like my lineage is like Gabby, Marianne and Carolyn. [08:56.380 --> 08:57.380] Oh, look at this. [08:57.380 --> 08:59.380] And maybe Fabio further up. [08:59.380 --> 09:00.380] Fabio. [09:00.380 --> 09:01.380] Interesting. [09:01.380 --> 09:02.380] I would not have suspected Fabio. [09:02.380 --> 09:03.380] Why is that? [09:03.380 --> 09:07.380] Because he's like kind of hapless, but also like indignant a lot of the time, you know, like [09:07.380 --> 09:08.380] he's got this. [09:08.380 --> 09:09.380] Yeah. [09:09.380 --> 09:12.380] Like I feel like a lot of the people in that season where I don't know where their heads were [09:12.380 --> 09:16.380] at, but he seemed to have like this strong sense of like what was right and wrong. [09:16.380 --> 09:17.380] Yeah. [09:17.380 --> 09:20.900] And I kind of, I was like, yeah, like he can be a bit like, yeah, I kind of identified [09:20.900 --> 09:21.900] with that. [09:21.900 --> 09:22.900] Yeah. [09:22.900 --> 09:25.300] And he came up was like totally hapless and clueless, but he knew what was going on and [09:25.300 --> 09:28.780] he knew how to like talk to the right people at the right time. [09:28.780 --> 09:31.620] Do you have a sense that you'd bring that sense of morality into the game? [09:31.620 --> 09:33.420] Because that's always tough. [09:33.420 --> 09:36.940] People write the social contracts and sometimes like things that I fly in some seasons might [09:36.940 --> 09:37.940] not fly in other ones. [09:37.940 --> 09:38.940] Oh my God. [09:38.940 --> 09:39.940] I don't know. [09:39.940 --> 09:42.100] I feel like I don't know. [09:42.100 --> 09:50.420] I feel like I don't want to like strong arm anyone into like abiding by my code of ethics, [09:50.420 --> 09:51.580] whatever that is. [09:51.580 --> 09:54.700] But I do feel like when when somebody like crosses me or does something that I think [09:54.700 --> 10:01.180] is like a gracious or is like bullying someone, I will, I'll usually do something about it. [10:01.180 --> 10:04.580] If not, if I don't confront them directly, I'll like turn everyone against them. [10:04.580 --> 10:05.580] Yeah. [10:05.580 --> 10:06.580] So. [10:06.580 --> 10:07.580] No, no, no. [10:07.580 --> 10:08.580] No, I'll just turn everyone against them. [10:08.580 --> 10:10.780] Public opinion is more important than anything else. [10:10.780 --> 10:11.780] I guess that is very true. [10:11.780 --> 10:14.260] What would you say is your favorite moment in survivor history? [10:14.260 --> 10:19.420] Is it going back to like those, those or do you think no, that I don't know? [10:19.420 --> 10:20.420] Oh my God. [10:20.420 --> 10:21.420] Sorry. [10:21.420 --> 10:22.420] I'm not an earthquake. [10:22.420 --> 10:23.420] That was a chair. [10:23.420 --> 10:24.420] That's the ghost of Scott Pollard. [10:24.420 --> 10:25.420] Oh my God. [10:25.420 --> 10:28.140] No, he would have flung me off the cliff. [10:28.140 --> 10:29.140] Oh my God. [10:29.140 --> 10:30.140] No. [10:30.140 --> 10:31.140] Okay. [10:31.140 --> 10:33.700] Um, what was my favorite moment in survivor history? [10:33.700 --> 10:36.300] Wait, let me think. [10:37.300 --> 10:42.420] Uh, the most recent one was when Carolyn was at the, bro down feast. [10:42.420 --> 10:43.420] Oh my God. [10:43.420 --> 10:44.860] Um, cause I know what that feels like. [10:44.860 --> 10:47.780] That happens to me all the time at work or it has happened to me a lot at work. [10:47.780 --> 10:48.780] Mm. [10:48.780 --> 10:49.780] Yeah. [10:49.780 --> 10:51.460] What would you say, you know, if I could give you, you could give me one life experience [10:51.460 --> 10:52.620] that would be most for the game. [10:52.620 --> 10:53.620] Is it something out of work? [10:53.620 --> 10:57.940] Is it something else from, you know, your life prior to getting involved with that? [10:57.940 --> 10:58.940] I have no idea. [10:58.940 --> 10:59.940] Everything. [10:59.940 --> 11:01.420] Everything is prepared me from when I was in the womb. [11:01.420 --> 11:05.580] I'm an identical twin and I came out first probably because I looked like I needed more [11:05.580 --> 11:11.140] help because my face was smushed with a C-section like my sister's like knee was [11:11.140 --> 11:12.140] in my face. [11:12.140 --> 11:15.060] So it was like totally smushed and my dad was like, is she going to be okay? [11:15.060 --> 11:20.300] And I guess I'm okay, but I became obvious to section and I guess so I've been fighting [11:20.300 --> 11:23.580] for nutrients since I was an idea. [11:23.580 --> 11:24.580] Yeah. [11:24.580 --> 11:25.580] And continues now. [11:25.580 --> 11:26.580] You got 26 days. [11:26.580 --> 11:27.580] Yeah. [11:27.580 --> 11:28.580] Oh my God. [11:28.580 --> 11:35.380] Um, beyond that, I don't know, I grew up, I like, I don't know, I don't think anyone [11:35.380 --> 11:36.980] experiences prepared me for it. [11:36.980 --> 11:42.180] Like, I grew up in Hong Kong and Toronto and was always kind of moving between places and [11:42.180 --> 11:47.420] moving through these different spaces with people and a bunch of people had different [11:47.420 --> 11:51.620] ideas about how I was supposed to be as like a woman, as like a Chinese girl living in [11:51.620 --> 11:54.980] Hong Kong that didn't speak Cantonese, like all these different things. [11:54.980 --> 12:01.940] I feel like kind of saying, ha, ha, like you don't get to tell me who I am through anything [12:01.940 --> 12:06.460] that I've done, even like in my career as a software engineer, like having a non-traditional [12:06.460 --> 12:09.900] background, I feel like that's kind of prepared me. [12:09.900 --> 12:10.900] Yeah. [12:10.900 --> 12:11.900] I don't know. [12:11.900 --> 12:13.540] That was like really long winded and coherent. [12:13.540 --> 12:15.740] Please, no, coherent and properly winded. [12:15.740 --> 12:16.740] Okay. [12:16.740 --> 12:19.340] I mean, something you wrote in your bio is that you talked about a 24, you had two entry level [12:19.340 --> 12:23.140] jobs and you find them to become a freelance web design, I think, like that's part and [12:23.140 --> 12:27.900] parcel for what you just said of like, I can have other people determine my success or [12:27.900 --> 12:31.260] I can determine my own success, however this game may be and that feels so conducive to [12:31.260 --> 12:32.260] this game. [12:32.260 --> 12:33.260] Oh my God. [12:33.260 --> 12:34.260] I have to tell you about another situation. [12:34.260 --> 12:35.260] Please. [12:35.260 --> 12:38.340] So there was a time where I was like maybe I should like help people get into college because [12:38.340 --> 12:42.580] I was like writing and editing skills and I worked at the admissions office at my university [12:42.580 --> 12:44.300] and stuff. [12:44.300 --> 12:49.380] So I applied for this gig when I first moved back to Hong Kong in my early twenties and [12:49.380 --> 12:56.780] it was run by these like, it was run by these guys who I think were just like we need someone, [12:56.780 --> 12:59.780] I felt like I knew that I was going to be exploited. [12:59.780 --> 13:04.660] And so I tried to like, get out of it as quickly as I could and they sent me an email [13:04.660 --> 13:08.340] that was like really threatening and they were like, Hong Kong is a small place, such [13:08.340 --> 13:13.700] moves can and will damage your reputation and I was like, who the fuck are you to tell me? [13:13.700 --> 13:18.340] Like, I was like, I was like, I think I like shrieked laughter when I got the email but [13:18.340 --> 13:22.100] then I got a little bit freaked out and then I was like, and then I showed it to my friend [13:22.100 --> 13:25.900] who was a lawyer and he was like, you don't have to worry about this. [13:25.900 --> 13:30.700] But yeah, like people telling me like, what I can and can do, I don't like that and I... [13:30.700 --> 13:34.980] Well, that being said, something you can't handle or you know, be able to deal with our [13:34.980 --> 13:35.980] perceptions. [13:35.980 --> 13:36.980] Yeah. [13:36.980 --> 13:39.340] How do you think you're going to be perceived? [13:39.340 --> 13:44.580] I think once people start to talk to me, okay, I think you can already tell from like even non-verbal [13:44.580 --> 13:49.500] communication that I don't take myself that seriously and I'm like, kind of... [13:49.500 --> 13:53.020] Somebody use the word frivolous, that's the word that my dad also likes to use sometimes [13:53.020 --> 13:54.980] and it's not the right word to describe me. [13:54.980 --> 14:01.860] I think I can come off as hapless and kind of fun loving and like very friendly and that [14:01.860 --> 14:03.540] is a fine perception for me. [14:03.540 --> 14:06.060] Yeah, is that something you're going to try to evoke? [14:06.060 --> 14:08.380] Yes, I don't want them to be like, she's smart. [14:08.380 --> 14:13.980] Like I don't really think of myself as smart but I feel like I don't want people to think [14:13.980 --> 14:14.980] that. [14:14.980 --> 14:20.540] When it comes to other people in the game, are there any qualities you want in like a number [14:20.540 --> 14:21.540] one ally? [14:21.540 --> 14:22.540] Are you looking for a number one ally? [14:22.540 --> 14:25.980] Oh my god, I want a soulmate like Carolyn and Jam Jam. [14:25.980 --> 14:26.980] I want somebody... [14:26.980 --> 14:27.980] I want what they have. [14:27.980 --> 14:28.980] Yeah, I want what they have. [14:28.980 --> 14:33.300] Like I want someone that understands me and doesn't take themselves too seriously and like [14:33.300 --> 14:36.140] wants to have fun because I like... [14:36.140 --> 14:42.020] I think it would really suck to be in alliance with somebody that's like too serious and not [14:42.020 --> 14:43.020] having fun. [14:43.020 --> 14:44.020] Yeah. [14:44.020 --> 14:47.260] Like I would feel very claustrophobic and that kind of arrangement. [14:47.260 --> 14:50.700] Okay, then if I can't find someone like that, then I would hope that I would find someone [14:50.700 --> 14:54.780] that has that under like, that also understands me, doesn't have to be exactly like me. [14:54.780 --> 14:59.060] Hopefully has a skill set that's complementary to mine. [14:59.060 --> 15:02.420] So maybe they're a bit more strategic and logical. [15:02.420 --> 15:06.860] Yeah, you mentioned Carolyn and Jam Jam when it comes down to like the pointy end of the [15:06.860 --> 15:11.460] game and you're someone that you're tight with, would you legitimately debate getting [15:11.460 --> 15:12.460] rid of them? [15:12.460 --> 15:14.660] Jesse and Cody Styler, is it tough to contend with that? [15:14.660 --> 15:18.900] Oh my god, it would depend so much on their relationship with the people in the jury. [15:18.900 --> 15:20.800] Like I have no idea. [15:20.800 --> 15:21.800] I don't know. [15:21.800 --> 15:24.780] Like what kind of guy we had to do with Christian? [15:24.780 --> 15:30.740] I don't know because I do see that I think it would be so fun to play the game with someone [15:30.740 --> 15:33.700] that I like felt very close to and go to the end with someone. [15:33.700 --> 15:38.900] Like I don't think anything could beat that experience except for winning a million dollars. [15:38.900 --> 15:39.900] Yeah. [15:39.900 --> 15:40.900] Yeah. [15:40.900 --> 15:44.660] So I'm assuming you've been, you know, looking around at the people that have been around [15:44.660 --> 15:45.660] alongside you. [15:45.660 --> 15:47.900] I mean, what good vibes are you getting from anyone? [15:47.980 --> 15:53.100] Oh my god, I can't really say because I've been taking very seriously this whole thing [15:53.100 --> 15:54.700] about not talking to people. [15:54.700 --> 15:55.700] Yeah. [15:55.700 --> 15:57.820] Sometimes I go like this when I walk by. [15:57.820 --> 16:00.620] Okay, there's a girl with red hair and she's covered in tattoos. [16:00.620 --> 16:02.300] I'm too indecisive to get a tattoo. [16:02.300 --> 16:06.620] So I'm like, that's really gutsy, but she was doing embroidery and I'm a crafter. [16:06.620 --> 16:07.620] I sewed this outfit. [16:07.620 --> 16:08.620] Oh my god. [16:08.620 --> 16:09.620] Really? [16:09.620 --> 16:10.620] Yeah, it's like a fake jumpsuit. [16:10.620 --> 16:11.620] All right. [16:11.620 --> 16:12.620] Come through a project runway. [16:12.620 --> 16:13.620] Yeah. [16:13.620 --> 16:20.540] So she looks cool, but I also feel like I'm not allowed to like make eyes at her. [16:20.540 --> 16:21.540] So. [16:21.540 --> 16:22.540] Yeah, that's it. [16:22.540 --> 16:23.540] I don't know. [16:23.540 --> 16:24.540] Let's talk about the craftiness. [16:24.540 --> 16:25.540] Yeah. [16:25.540 --> 16:27.820] Second, like, are you going to make fake idols? [16:27.820 --> 16:29.300] Is that something you want to carry over into the game? [16:29.300 --> 16:32.780] The first order of business is they did not allow me to wear a hat. [16:32.780 --> 16:33.780] So I'm going to make a hat. [16:33.780 --> 16:37.860] I had to like, I watched this video like 20 times and then I wrote, I drew like diagrammed all [16:37.860 --> 16:38.860] the steps. [16:38.860 --> 16:39.860] And I think I have it like in here. [16:39.860 --> 16:40.860] Interesting. [16:40.860 --> 16:41.860] I'm going to make myself a hat. [16:41.860 --> 16:42.860] I'm going to make a front style or on the materials. [16:42.860 --> 16:43.860] Yeah, yeah. [16:43.860 --> 16:44.860] On the front. [16:44.860 --> 16:46.340] I had like the one that Cody and Jam Jam made. [16:46.340 --> 16:47.700] I don't want to get sunfucked. [16:47.700 --> 16:48.700] Yeah. [16:48.700 --> 16:52.380] And then listen, like we saw it with Cody, like could be an easy out to collect advantages. [16:52.380 --> 16:53.380] Exactly. [16:53.380 --> 16:54.380] Oh my god. [16:54.380 --> 16:55.380] Yeah. [16:55.380 --> 16:56.380] That was so fun to watch. [16:56.380 --> 16:57.820] Well, look at the other side of things. [16:57.820 --> 17:00.540] I know that again, you're trying to keep your head down, but like, is there anyone you've [17:00.540 --> 17:04.500] had experiences with out there that you're saying like, we're on the same beach like. [17:04.500 --> 17:06.460] Oh my god. [17:06.460 --> 17:11.260] I think people that look really serious because I feel like people that are very serious [17:11.260 --> 17:14.940] or can be very put off by me. [17:14.940 --> 17:19.260] And I don't want to, you know, I don't want to piss people off right out of the gate. [17:19.260 --> 17:22.540] But sometimes I have that effect on people that take themselves seriously. [17:22.540 --> 17:23.540] Interesting. [17:23.540 --> 17:25.380] Well, I'm going to go back to advantages for a second. [17:25.380 --> 17:26.380] Yeah. [17:26.380 --> 17:28.500] Let's say for a few days, but pulls up in your camp. [17:28.500 --> 17:29.500] Yeah. [17:29.500 --> 17:30.500] I step out, you know what's happening. [17:30.500 --> 17:32.460] Pick one person from your tribe to go on a journey. [17:32.460 --> 17:33.460] Oh my god. [17:33.460 --> 17:34.460] What are your tactics? [17:34.460 --> 17:35.460] Are you trying to get yourself there? [17:35.460 --> 17:38.500] Are you trying to get like your closest ally or your enemy to go to throw them under [17:38.500 --> 17:39.500] the bus? [17:39.500 --> 17:40.500] Oh my god. [17:40.500 --> 17:42.100] I thought about that. [17:42.100 --> 17:49.140] I feel like I would not volunteer to go because I wouldn't know if I would be allowed to pee. [17:49.140 --> 17:50.140] Okay. [17:50.140 --> 17:51.140] What? [17:51.140 --> 17:52.140] An island. [17:52.140 --> 17:53.140] Okay. [17:53.140 --> 17:54.140] Well, actually like, I don't know. [17:54.140 --> 17:58.620] I don't really, I haven't really plotted out my course because I just have no idea what's [17:58.620 --> 17:59.620] going to happen. [17:59.620 --> 18:01.780] And I feel like whatever happens, I would just have to roll with it. [18:01.780 --> 18:02.780] Yeah. [18:02.780 --> 18:05.860] So if I went to the island, I would do my best to ingratiate myself to the people there [18:05.860 --> 18:10.580] and make it seem like I'm telling them lots of juicy gossip, but not really tell them [18:10.580 --> 18:12.900] anything meaningful, which I'm very good at doing. [18:12.900 --> 18:15.180] I think that's like my magic spell that I do. [18:15.180 --> 18:16.180] Yeah. [18:16.180 --> 18:17.820] So is that sort of like lack of, you know, more thought? [18:17.820 --> 18:21.180] Is that part of the new era for you of just like, you never know what to expect in 26 days? [18:21.180 --> 18:23.140] That makes you feel like, oh, well with the punches. [18:23.140 --> 18:24.180] It's just part of who I am. [18:24.180 --> 18:25.180] Okay. [18:25.180 --> 18:28.940] I like, I just found out this year that I'm ADHD, which makes everything in my life makes [18:28.940 --> 18:32.740] so much sense and makes like, makes this seem like not that scary. [18:32.740 --> 18:36.460] I feel like I'm supposed to be like more freaked out and more like, oh my God, I have [18:36.460 --> 18:39.900] to be plotting and blending, but I'm just going to like, I'll roll with it. [18:39.900 --> 18:43.660] Well, speaking of rolling with it, when it comes to advantages, like, are you hungry [18:43.660 --> 18:44.660] for them? [18:44.660 --> 18:48.020] Are you going to try to step back knowing like, oh my God, when you know people, when you [18:48.020 --> 18:50.780] know people know, have them like that and lead to them getting targeted? [18:50.780 --> 18:51.780] They're always a curse. [18:51.780 --> 18:52.780] Yeah. [18:52.780 --> 18:57.540] I feel like if I found one, I would like plant it such that I could see, I could watch someone [18:57.540 --> 19:01.020] else get it and know exactly who had it. [19:01.020 --> 19:04.940] This is like a lot of the magical things would have to fall into place for this to happen [19:04.940 --> 19:08.500] and then put the target on them and hopefully it would be someone I didn't like that much. [19:08.500 --> 19:09.500] Yeah. [19:09.500 --> 19:10.500] You could do what Matthew did with Jane. [19:10.500 --> 19:11.500] Exactly. [19:11.500 --> 19:12.500] You can straight to the fake eye. [19:12.500 --> 19:13.500] That's the idol. [19:13.500 --> 19:14.980] Or what Danny did with Matt. [19:14.980 --> 19:15.980] Yeah. [19:15.980 --> 19:16.980] You never know if something is real either. [19:16.980 --> 19:19.820] I'm almost like, let's not touch anything. [19:19.820 --> 19:20.820] Yeah. [19:20.820 --> 19:25.820] When it comes to making a decision in your life, do you have like a set process of how [19:25.820 --> 19:28.460] you go about it or are you someone that is more gut oriented? [19:28.460 --> 19:35.060] I am 100% gut oriented and this has been a learning experience for me and my husband [19:35.060 --> 19:42.300] because he's very process driven and he's been trying to give me advice about how to play [19:42.300 --> 19:46.700] and he really loves board games and dungeons and dragons and stuff like that and I don't [19:46.700 --> 19:49.660] have patience for the rules and stuff and I'm just like, I'm just going to go with my [19:49.660 --> 19:50.660] gut. [19:50.660 --> 19:52.700] It's worked for me so far in my life. [19:52.700 --> 19:54.100] I'm going to go with my gut. [19:54.460 --> 19:58.820] I think my process, the one thing that will like move the needle on how I decide stuff [19:58.820 --> 20:03.860] is if I've decided that somebody has done something that I find to be morally repugnant [20:03.860 --> 20:04.860] or something like that. [20:04.860 --> 20:05.860] Interesting. [20:05.860 --> 20:10.260] Or if I find that they're like a little bit too like rude to someone that they don't like [20:10.260 --> 20:11.260] then I'll go in that. [20:11.260 --> 20:12.260] Yeah. [20:12.260 --> 20:13.260] I mean, talking about the Carolyn Bro down, right? [20:13.260 --> 20:14.260] Yeah. [20:14.260 --> 20:16.260] If you found out that something happened to someone, you'd speak up about it. [20:16.260 --> 20:17.260] Yeah. [20:17.260 --> 20:18.260] Yeah. [20:18.260 --> 20:19.260] Interesting. [20:19.260 --> 20:20.260] Or like turn the turn and everyone against them. [20:20.260 --> 20:21.260] Well, let's talk about preparation. [20:21.340 --> 20:23.860] Perhaps, besides sure keeping the advice of your husband? [20:23.860 --> 20:25.980] No, I did listen to his advice. [20:25.980 --> 20:29.060] What have you been doing in preparation for this though? [20:29.060 --> 20:34.820] So I conveniently live with the one who bought a 3D printer on Craigslist and printed out [20:34.820 --> 20:40.660] some puzzles and his name is my husband because I would never have the patience to learn how [20:40.660 --> 20:44.820] to use like whatever like AutoCAD or whatever software he was using to do that. [20:44.820 --> 20:45.820] Interesting. [20:45.820 --> 20:48.620] I also started swimming at a pool near my house. [20:48.860 --> 20:53.060] I also started going to the gym because I've been rather sedentary. [20:53.060 --> 20:56.900] Leading up to this, the only exercise I get is bike commuting by necessity because I don't [20:56.900 --> 20:58.540] know how to drive. [20:58.540 --> 21:01.820] I, what else have I been doing? [21:01.820 --> 21:03.660] I did a lot. [21:03.660 --> 21:07.140] I got brain teaser, like a brain teaser book in case there were like the Asian girl has [21:07.140 --> 21:09.540] to do the savvy, the sweater savvy thing. [21:09.540 --> 21:10.540] Oh yeah, the most smart savvy. [21:10.540 --> 21:12.180] Those ones look like look not that hard though. [21:12.180 --> 21:13.180] Yeah. [21:13.180 --> 21:15.860] It seemed like if you have a pattern behind it like counting the rings it seemed. [21:15.860 --> 21:16.860] Yeah. [21:16.860 --> 21:17.860] Yeah. [21:17.940 --> 21:19.300] Or they had to count the triangles. [21:19.300 --> 21:21.540] I think I would have been second guessing myself all the time. [21:21.540 --> 21:24.940] Yeah, that's the thing is that like you're given, you say that like there's no time in [21:24.940 --> 21:27.540] the new era like so you can just you know go with your gut. [21:27.540 --> 21:28.540] Yeah. [21:28.540 --> 21:29.540] It's like nope. [21:29.540 --> 21:31.140] Second yourself because you only have one chance. [21:31.140 --> 21:32.140] Yeah. [21:32.140 --> 21:33.140] Yeah. [21:33.140 --> 21:34.140] The brain teasers. [21:34.140 --> 21:36.660] I feel like every day I did something that would help me. [21:36.660 --> 21:37.660] Yeah. [21:37.660 --> 21:38.660] That would help me. [21:38.660 --> 21:39.660] Nice. [21:39.660 --> 21:43.540] Is there a moment in survivor history like a decision that was made where you were like [21:43.540 --> 21:44.900] I can't believe you did that. [21:44.900 --> 21:47.540] If I was out there, I totally wouldn't have done this. [21:47.620 --> 21:50.620] Oh my God. [21:50.620 --> 21:56.180] I can involve Scott Pollard if you wanted to. [21:56.180 --> 21:57.180] No. [21:57.180 --> 21:58.180] Oh my God. [21:58.180 --> 21:59.180] He's so scary. [21:59.180 --> 22:02.420] I'm sure he's like a really lovely person inside. [22:02.420 --> 22:07.340] Um, I have to think about past seasons. [22:07.340 --> 22:08.340] Mm hmm. [22:08.340 --> 22:12.300] So the other thing, there's something wrong with me because like this is how like when I [22:12.300 --> 22:16.260] watch movies or TV shows, I don't often remember exactly what happens. [22:16.260 --> 22:17.260] Yeah. [22:17.340 --> 22:18.340] But I remember, yeah. [22:18.340 --> 22:20.180] But I remember how someone made me feel. [22:20.180 --> 22:21.980] And that's like the more important thing. [22:21.980 --> 22:27.100] Well, that is actually the incredibly important to like a jury sense in my perspective. [22:27.100 --> 22:28.100] Yeah. [22:28.100 --> 22:30.260] There was so many different types of criteria that people vote for. [22:30.260 --> 22:32.900] But like at the end of the day, a lot of jury members are left with, well, how did you [22:32.900 --> 22:33.900] make me feel? [22:33.900 --> 22:37.340] And so I think that emotional intelligence is actually a very good superpower to have. [22:37.340 --> 22:38.340] Yeah. [22:38.340 --> 22:41.620] I just don't have the strategic acumen. [22:41.620 --> 22:45.420] I just don't have good memory because of my ADHD or I just cause like I just, I just, [22:45.420 --> 22:49.380] it's really hard for me to like go, but I don't have like this index in my head of [22:49.380 --> 22:53.740] like moves because I just, I'm thinking, no, it's, it's fine. [22:53.740 --> 22:58.020] I actually want to go on that train of like training your bio that you've been shows [22:58.020 --> 23:01.300] percent of the way through and like I got to Google the last 20%. [23:01.300 --> 23:02.300] Yeah. [23:02.300 --> 23:05.500] I can't watch it anymore because I just want to know what happens and then, yeah, that's [23:05.500 --> 23:06.500] so interesting. [23:06.500 --> 23:08.300] What have you been doing recently with that? [23:08.300 --> 23:09.300] Do you remember? [23:09.300 --> 23:10.300] What shows? [23:10.300 --> 23:11.300] Yeah. [23:12.300 --> 23:13.300] Succession. [23:13.300 --> 23:14.300] Oh my God. [23:14.300 --> 23:15.300] I missed the finale. [23:15.300 --> 23:16.300] Do you want that? [23:16.300 --> 23:18.300] I feel like Roman is going to die. [23:18.300 --> 23:19.300] Okay. [23:19.300 --> 23:20.300] Okay. [23:20.300 --> 23:21.300] Or Ken, one of them. [23:21.300 --> 23:22.300] That's all. [23:22.300 --> 23:23.300] All right. [23:23.300 --> 23:25.300] We're getting succession predictions in stone. [23:25.300 --> 23:27.300] I don't even realize. [23:27.300 --> 23:28.300] Oh my gosh. [23:28.300 --> 23:29.300] Yeah. [23:29.300 --> 23:31.300] Succession and survivor are like the only TV shows I watch. [23:31.300 --> 23:32.300] Mm hmm. [23:32.300 --> 23:33.300] But you don't. [23:33.300 --> 23:36.300] Do you, 20% of the survivors season if you're not. [23:36.300 --> 23:37.300] Oh. [23:37.300 --> 23:40.300] No, I usually like, no, the most recent one I watched. [23:41.300 --> 23:43.300] I think I didn't finish the bone. [23:43.300 --> 23:44.300] Mm hmm. [23:44.300 --> 23:46.300] Because it was like, that one was really hard to watch. [23:46.300 --> 23:50.300] I mean, if you talk about wanting to speak up against people that are treated improperly. [23:50.300 --> 23:51.300] Yeah. [23:51.300 --> 23:52.300] It was a season full of that. [23:52.300 --> 23:53.300] Yeah. [23:53.300 --> 23:54.300] Oh my God. [23:54.300 --> 23:56.300] And then Nicaragua, I really enjoyed. [23:56.300 --> 23:57.300] Mm hmm. [23:57.300 --> 24:00.300] But then I was like, I don't want to like, part of me is like, I don't want to watch [24:00.300 --> 24:02.300] the game because I want to like, I don't want it to infect. [24:02.300 --> 24:04.300] I don't think infect is the right word. [24:04.300 --> 24:05.300] I don't want it to pollute. [24:05.300 --> 24:09.300] Like, my sense of self going into the game. [24:10.300 --> 24:11.300] I definitely am. [24:11.300 --> 24:12.300] Oh my God. [24:12.300 --> 24:15.300] I'm probably like the worst person to be interviewing about this. [24:15.300 --> 24:17.300] I don't have a strategy except to like. [24:17.300 --> 24:18.300] Absolutely not. [24:18.300 --> 24:19.300] Could you use people. [24:19.300 --> 24:22.300] You would be surprised how many people I have talked to, especially in the new era [24:22.300 --> 24:24.300] where I've done exactly what you have done. [24:24.300 --> 24:27.300] Like, there is a sense of adaptability and coming in. [24:27.300 --> 24:29.300] And I think, I think you are more prepared than you think you are. [24:29.300 --> 24:32.300] Like, considering what I've heard about your life and from just talking with me. [24:32.300 --> 24:35.300] Like, I think that's, that's what you need is the ability to go with the flow, [24:35.300 --> 24:38.300] but also have enough personal confidence in yourself to be like, [24:38.300 --> 24:40.300] Okay, this new thing got thrown my way. [24:40.300 --> 24:41.300] This new person is doing this thing. [24:41.300 --> 24:42.300] Yeah. [24:42.300 --> 24:43.300] I'll just, I'll just write it out. [24:43.300 --> 24:44.300] Sure. [24:44.300 --> 24:45.300] That doesn't seem like you're stranded out in the middle of the water. [24:45.300 --> 24:46.300] You got the paddle. [24:46.300 --> 24:47.300] You're ready to row. [24:47.300 --> 24:48.300] Oh my God. [24:48.300 --> 24:49.300] You're so good at talking. [24:49.300 --> 24:50.300] Oh thank you. [24:50.300 --> 24:51.300] You're so fast. [24:51.300 --> 24:54.300] Well, let me finish off with a couple of questions here for you. [24:54.300 --> 24:55.300] Sure. [24:55.300 --> 24:56.300] What would you say? [24:56.300 --> 24:58.300] I'm going to make you look back on survivor history again. [24:58.300 --> 24:59.300] What is your hottest survivor take? [24:59.300 --> 25:03.300] My hottest survivor take? [25:03.300 --> 25:05.300] I likes the medallion of power. [25:05.300 --> 25:07.300] I think I like that too. [25:07.300 --> 25:11.300] Because the challenges looked easier because there were like geriatric people on it. [25:11.300 --> 25:13.300] Well, I was going to say I don't know if you've talked with Dalton yet, [25:13.300 --> 25:17.300] but Dalton has been the most like vocal anti-members of the medallion of power. [25:17.300 --> 25:18.300] Oh my God. [25:18.300 --> 25:19.300] So you're going to have to sell them on it. [25:19.300 --> 25:22.300] Well, he asked me in the hot take and I said the hourglass thing, [25:22.300 --> 25:25.300] but then I think the medallion of power is cool too, [25:25.300 --> 25:27.300] because it gives you some agency and you have to really think about. [25:27.300 --> 25:29.300] Yeah, it's not, it's not a gimme, right? [25:29.300 --> 25:30.300] Yeah. [25:30.300 --> 25:31.300] That's was such an easy thing. [25:31.300 --> 25:35.300] This is like, okay, we could give this up for an advantage in the challenge. [25:35.300 --> 25:39.300] Yeah, it's like another vector to see like how the tribe sees itself [25:39.300 --> 25:41.300] and how they make decisions together. [25:41.300 --> 25:44.300] Last thing I want to ask, if you could bring a celebrity [25:44.300 --> 25:47.300] or a fictional character out to the island as your loved one, [25:47.300 --> 25:48.300] who would it be? [25:48.300 --> 25:49.300] Loved one? [25:49.300 --> 25:50.300] Yeah. [25:50.300 --> 25:52.300] Someone you want to see as your lowest moment in the game. [25:52.300 --> 25:53.300] A fictional character? [25:53.300 --> 25:54.300] Yeah. [25:54.300 --> 25:57.300] I think I would pick Catherine O'Hara. [25:57.300 --> 25:58.300] Oh, my God. [25:58.300 --> 26:01.300] I would be specifically with her as like Moira from Shits Tree. [26:01.300 --> 26:02.300] Specifically, yeah. [26:02.300 --> 26:07.300] Because I think she would give me some very good advice [26:07.300 --> 26:11.300] about how to give a sizzling final tribal council speech. [26:11.300 --> 26:12.300] Yeah, she would. [26:12.300 --> 26:14.300] Absolutely not the hell out of it. [26:14.300 --> 26:15.300] Yeah. [26:15.300 --> 26:17.300] And she'll tell you how to just fold everything into the game. [26:17.300 --> 26:18.300] Exactly. [26:18.300 --> 26:20.300] This was so fantastic. [26:20.300 --> 26:21.300] It was so much fun. [26:21.300 --> 26:22.300] This was so much fun. [26:22.300 --> 26:24.300] How are you feeling right now? [26:24.300 --> 26:27.300] I know that you said you feel like you should be more scared, [26:27.300 --> 26:29.300] but like as it gets closer and closer, [26:29.300 --> 26:31.300] what is like the most prominent feeling for you right now? [26:31.300 --> 26:32.300] Repressed. [26:32.300 --> 26:34.300] Because I haven't been able to talk to anyone. [26:34.300 --> 26:35.300] Yeah. [26:35.300 --> 26:38.300] Nothing makes me happier than going out and like meeting new people [26:38.300 --> 26:39.300] and getting to know them. [26:39.300 --> 26:42.300] And I feel like I've just been going like this and acting like a weirdo. [26:42.300 --> 26:45.300] I just really want to go out and meet some people and [26:45.300 --> 26:47.300] figure out what they're about. [26:47.300 --> 26:48.300] Yeah. [26:48.300 --> 26:50.300] Hopefully there's someone that I vibe with. [26:50.300 --> 26:51.300] I don't know. [26:51.300 --> 26:53.300] Well, it was so fantastic getting to meet you. [26:53.300 --> 26:55.300] Hopefully, I see this nice conduit of like a person to talk to [26:55.300 --> 26:56.300] and meet. [26:56.300 --> 26:58.300] I wish you all the best with like the next, you know, [26:58.300 --> 27:01.300] couple days as well as hopefully the next 26 days to come. [27:01.300 --> 27:02.300] All right. [27:02.300 --> 27:03.300] There you have it. [27:03.300 --> 27:04.300] There's Jess. [27:04.300 --> 27:05.300] Yes. [27:05.300 --> 27:09.300] So I will admit, and one of the reasons again, I'm really keen to [27:09.300 --> 27:12.300] hear your thoughts on Jess Rob is that I walked away from this. [27:12.300 --> 27:15.300] And this was such a lovely conversation and such great crafty [27:15.300 --> 27:16.300] skills as well. [27:16.300 --> 27:19.300] Like no matter how she does on survivor put Jess on project [27:19.300 --> 27:23.300] runway, perhaps, but I kind of walk away from this interview with [27:23.300 --> 27:27.300] Jess Rob to quote, I guess something she said to me off [27:27.300 --> 27:30.300] times during this interview saying, I don't know. [27:30.300 --> 27:36.300] I don't know how Jess is going to do her succession predictions [27:36.300 --> 27:37.300] didn't come true. [27:37.300 --> 27:38.300] Yeah. [27:38.300 --> 27:41.300] But to be fair, the last episode she saw spoiler alert for [27:41.300 --> 27:44.300] succession, even though I kind of spoiled. [27:44.300 --> 27:46.300] Even though I did spoil it actually in the interview. [27:46.300 --> 27:48.300] But this if you remember in the penultimate episode, that's when [27:48.300 --> 27:50.300] Roman purposely got himself roughed up. [27:50.300 --> 27:51.300] Okay. [27:51.300 --> 27:52.300] All right. [27:52.300 --> 27:53.300] So all right. [27:53.300 --> 27:54.300] I didn't know was okay. [27:54.300 --> 27:56.300] I hear in a different version of the episode. [27:56.300 --> 27:57.300] It would have been a lot worse. [27:57.300 --> 27:58.300] All right. [27:58.300 --> 28:02.300] So that I think I have to like try to hold two things in my hands [28:02.300 --> 28:06.300] at once because I really adore Jess as a person. [28:06.300 --> 28:11.300] She seems like somebody that would be a great person to hang out [28:11.300 --> 28:12.300] with. [28:12.300 --> 28:15.300] I think that she's somebody who would probably be like a great [28:15.300 --> 28:16.300] podcaster. [28:16.300 --> 28:19.300] I think she's very fun to have around. [28:20.300 --> 28:25.300] But as somebody who I am going to bank on to like put my chip on [28:25.300 --> 28:30.300] them as like the winner of the season, I'm not sure. [28:30.300 --> 28:33.300] I don't think there's any reason that people will want to get rid [28:33.300 --> 28:34.300] of her immediately. [28:34.300 --> 28:37.300] I don't think she's going to rub anybody the wrong way. [28:37.300 --> 28:42.300] But I feel like that she just seems as she herself will say that [28:42.300 --> 28:47.300] she often is like without like a strong plan. [28:48.300 --> 28:55.300] And I think is like guided a little bit more by her empathy for [28:55.300 --> 29:01.300] things or her moral repugnance of things. [29:01.300 --> 29:06.300] And so I wonder if she might be a little bit more reactive in the [29:06.300 --> 29:08.300] game and maybe in the new era of survivor. [29:08.300 --> 29:11.300] That's like a better way to go. [29:11.300 --> 29:16.300] But I'm not sure necessarily when we talk about like her being able [29:17.300 --> 29:20.300] to like be running things. [29:20.300 --> 29:23.300] I don't know if I get that from Jess. [29:23.300 --> 29:28.300] And that's not necessarily anything to preclude her from [29:28.300 --> 29:31.300] winning the game, certainly, especially in the new era. [29:31.300 --> 29:35.300] Sometimes the eminent gameplay is to not be the one that's at [29:35.300 --> 29:37.300] least perceived as running things. [29:37.300 --> 29:42.300] Though again, they had just seen Jam Jam win 44, who I think [29:42.300 --> 29:45.300] was definitely seen as a big part of the alliance that ended up [29:45.300 --> 29:47.300] controlling the entire end game. [29:47.300 --> 29:52.300] So again, that might be something that could determine what explains [29:52.300 --> 29:55.300] a winning game to some of these possible jurors. [29:55.300 --> 29:58.300] You say that you don't see a reason why they would want to get [29:58.300 --> 30:00.300] rid of Jess early. [30:00.300 --> 30:02.300] I could see a couple of things. [30:02.300 --> 30:05.300] And it might just be a bit of a personality clash. [30:05.300 --> 30:09.300] And Jess is someone who self admittedly says that she doesn't [30:09.300 --> 30:10.300] take herself seriously. [30:10.300 --> 30:13.300] She wants to find someone else who also wants to have a lot of [30:13.300 --> 30:15.300] fun and not take themselves seriously. [30:15.300 --> 30:17.300] I think that's going to be a cast full of these types of people. [30:17.300 --> 30:20.300] She'll she will not be without that type of person. [30:20.300 --> 30:24.300] But I just feel like Jess could potentially be in a situation [30:24.300 --> 30:28.300] where like the way she's interacting with people, I could [30:28.300 --> 30:31.300] see rubbing some of her tribe members the wrong way. [30:31.300 --> 30:32.300] Well, it's interesting. [30:32.300 --> 30:36.300] I think that she's a little bit of an enigma in that, you know, [30:36.300 --> 30:41.300] she talks about like herself and sort of like being, you know, [30:41.300 --> 30:46.300] somebody who is like very flexible could go any number of [30:46.300 --> 30:47.300] directions. [30:47.300 --> 30:53.300] But also in terms of other people, she tells us that she doesn't [30:53.300 --> 30:55.300] like being told what to do. [30:55.300 --> 31:00.300] She talks about how that she has a extremely strong like code of [31:00.300 --> 31:01.300] ethics. [31:01.300 --> 31:02.300] Yeah. [31:02.300 --> 31:05.300] To the point where she stops watching survivor seasons and a [31:05.300 --> 31:07.300] couple of times because she's like, yeah, these mean people are [31:07.300 --> 31:08.300] doing well. [31:08.300 --> 31:09.300] I don't like that. [31:09.300 --> 31:12.300] And again, like, and based off of this tribe so far, I don't see [31:12.300 --> 31:16.300] that person necessarily that she wouldn't be butting heads with. [31:16.300 --> 31:20.300] But we do get that personality type, like a lot of these type A [31:20.300 --> 31:24.300] personalities, which she might not necessarily go with. [31:24.300 --> 31:29.300] So in some ways, I feel like that she is telling us that she [31:29.300 --> 31:35.300] might be rather inflexible about working with some people. [31:35.300 --> 31:41.300] But in terms of like her own direction, she's saying that she [31:41.300 --> 31:47.300] does not feel like that she will have like a very strong like [31:47.300 --> 31:52.300] compass pointing her in the direction of like a solid strategy. [31:52.300 --> 31:53.300] Yeah. [31:53.300 --> 31:57.300] It's so interesting that she described Fabio as kind of [31:57.300 --> 32:00.300] hapless, but also indignant a lot of the time. [32:00.300 --> 32:04.300] And I think Jess is certainly somebody that is all about changing [32:04.300 --> 32:06.300] the definitions of words, right? [32:06.300 --> 32:09.300] She says her dad describes her as frivolous, but he kind of means [32:09.300 --> 32:10.300] it in a good way. [32:10.300 --> 32:15.300] Indignant as a description for Fabio is a little question marky to [32:15.300 --> 32:16.300] me personally. [32:16.300 --> 32:20.300] But hey, I mean, it's the second Fabio reference we've had on this [32:20.300 --> 32:21.300] tribe. [32:21.300 --> 32:24.300] And I think at least she walks up more of an idea than a person now, [32:24.300 --> 32:25.300] Mike. [32:25.300 --> 32:29.300] I mean, I guess he wasn't indignant at the idea of Nayanka wearing his [32:29.300 --> 32:32.300] socks, which I guess is an understandable point of a dignity. [32:32.300 --> 32:36.300] But I think that Jess, at least is talking about it from a logical [32:36.300 --> 32:39.300] perspective in terms of having, again, this sense of right and wrong, [32:39.300 --> 32:41.300] which I do think everybody does. [32:41.300 --> 32:45.300] And that's part of the genuine interest in survivor that has kept [32:45.300 --> 32:48.300] the ship afloat for 20 plus years is like, okay, what is the line [32:48.300 --> 32:49.300] for some people? [32:49.300 --> 32:52.300] What is something that would be part of the game versus something [32:52.300 --> 32:55.300] that crosses into personal boundaries in more ways than one? [32:55.300 --> 32:58.300] But she at least says like, okay, if someone does something that I [32:58.300 --> 33:01.300] don't like, let me try to do it from a strategic perspective. [33:01.300 --> 33:03.300] Maybe not call them out in the middle of camp. [33:03.300 --> 33:06.300] I don't think that's Jess's code, if you will. [33:06.300 --> 33:10.300] I think it's more so her code to do the coding behind the scenes and [33:10.300 --> 33:14.300] say, okay, I'm going to try to socially turn people against that [33:14.300 --> 33:15.300] person. [33:15.300 --> 33:18.300] That might be, I think, one of the most strategic bones in Jess's [33:18.300 --> 33:20.300] body as a survivor player. [33:20.300 --> 33:23.300] And look, we have seen again, people go far that have done less [33:23.300 --> 33:24.300] strategic things. [33:24.300 --> 33:25.300] Yeah. [33:25.300 --> 33:28.300] So I mean, that's my concern up front. [33:28.300 --> 33:34.300] The things that I like is, you know, she is super fun, charismatic. [33:34.300 --> 33:39.300] She talked a bit about Gabby being like sort of like the archetype [33:39.300 --> 33:41.300] that she really likes. [33:41.300 --> 33:45.300] She talks about in her bio that she played rugby in college, so [33:45.300 --> 33:51.300] she's going to be maybe tougher than you might first think when [33:51.300 --> 33:52.300] you see her. [33:52.300 --> 33:56.300] And so I think that that's going to help her in terms of these [33:56.300 --> 33:57.300] challenges. [33:57.300 --> 34:01.300] And so like, I think that she is somebody who I think will be [34:01.300 --> 34:06.300] well liked and well received, but it's hard for me to see how [34:06.300 --> 34:08.300] she gets over the hump. [34:08.300 --> 34:13.300] Well, Rob, I don't know, maybe the idea of her making her own [34:13.300 --> 34:16.300] clothes, including again, the jumpsuit she was wearing when [34:16.300 --> 34:20.300] she spoke with me brought this to mind. [34:20.300 --> 34:23.300] It's just the new era, Krista Hasty. [34:23.300 --> 34:24.300] I don't think so. [34:24.300 --> 34:25.300] I don't think so. [34:25.300 --> 34:29.300] I don't think she's not like wacky, like, you know, like bizarre, [34:29.300 --> 34:30.300] like Krista Hasty. [34:30.300 --> 34:32.300] Yeah, I suppose so. [34:32.300 --> 34:35.300] I think there are wackier cast members here, but I think this [34:35.300 --> 34:37.300] sort of offbeat vibe. [34:37.300 --> 34:39.300] I was very much getting from her. [34:39.300 --> 34:42.300] Even though quirky, not wacky. [34:42.300 --> 34:43.300] Mm hmm. [34:43.300 --> 34:46.300] Do you think like Zoe Deschanel and new girl? [34:46.300 --> 34:47.300] Yes, a dorkable. [34:47.300 --> 34:48.300] Yes. [34:48.300 --> 34:49.300] She's a dorkable. [34:49.300 --> 34:50.300] There we go. [34:50.300 --> 34:53.300] And I get to that point, was it more of a 2012 thing than a [34:53.300 --> 34:54.300] 2023 thing? [34:54.300 --> 34:55.300] We shall see. [34:55.300 --> 34:58.300] I mean, I also love representation for neurodivergency. [34:58.300 --> 35:02.300] You know, she talks about recently getting diagnosed with ADHD. [35:02.300 --> 35:06.300] And that does not, again, preclude anybody from doing well on [35:06.300 --> 35:08.300] Survivor with ADHD. [35:08.300 --> 35:12.300] Hell, Carolyn, who just played has ADHD and made it all the way [35:12.300 --> 35:13.300] to the finals. [35:13.300 --> 35:17.300] I think the difference, though, lies in A, I think, again, [35:17.300 --> 35:21.300] Carolyn's a bit more wacky than quirky, but also Carolyn did have [35:21.300 --> 35:25.300] this entrenched sense of strategy from playing online role, [35:25.300 --> 35:28.300] playing games, from being a dyed-in-the-wool fan of the show [35:28.300 --> 35:30.300] since the very beginning. [35:30.300 --> 35:34.300] And I don't think Jess really has that bite to her. [35:34.300 --> 35:37.300] And the good news is I think that will help her perception. [35:37.300 --> 35:40.300] To your point, I don't think anyone's like, Jess is a threat. [35:40.300 --> 35:41.300] We've got to get rid of her. [35:41.300 --> 35:45.300] But the other side of that coin is I could see Jess is a little too [35:45.300 --> 35:46.300] far out there. [35:46.300 --> 35:48.300] I don't think our personalities are vibing. [35:48.300 --> 35:52.300] Sometimes people meet up with somebody and then the sum of the [35:52.300 --> 35:54.300] parts is greater than the whole. [35:54.300 --> 35:56.300] I don't know if I got that right. [35:56.300 --> 35:57.300] But you know what I mean? [35:57.300 --> 36:01.300] That there could be somebody who compliments the things that maybe [36:01.300 --> 36:06.300] are not necessarily in her wheelhouse that ends up being a very [36:06.300 --> 36:07.300] successful pair. [36:07.300 --> 36:11.300] So really like Jess, but I have some concerns. [36:11.300 --> 36:15.300] I think something that could help her is, listen, she talked about [36:15.300 --> 36:18.300] the unfortunate stereotypes that comes with being an Asian woman, [36:18.300 --> 36:20.300] both in life and on this show. [36:20.300 --> 36:25.300] I will say, Yannu overall is much more of a brawnier tribe than a [36:25.300 --> 36:26.300] brainier tribe. [36:26.300 --> 36:29.300] We'll certainly get into that specifically with our last two [36:29.300 --> 36:31.300] members in our next podcast. [36:31.300 --> 36:34.300] So I could see if they're looking at, okay, we need someone on [36:34.300 --> 36:37.300] puzzles to like keep ourselves in it in the challenges. [36:37.300 --> 36:40.300] That could be Jess's saving grace. [36:40.300 --> 36:44.300] I could see Jess being one of the first couple boots from Yannu. [36:44.300 --> 36:48.300] But at the same time, if Yannu does go on a bit of a challenge [36:48.300 --> 36:52.300] run early on, which again, looking at their makeup, they do have a [36:52.300 --> 36:53.300] pretty sizable chance of doing. [36:53.300 --> 36:56.300] We could talk about that again when we finish off the tribe in the [36:56.300 --> 36:59.300] next podcast, then that's something that could give Jess time to [36:59.300 --> 37:03.300] kind of ingratiate herself in with other people and make them realize [37:03.300 --> 37:06.300] like, okay, the frivolity is just sort of the surface level stuff [37:06.300 --> 37:08.300] when I actually dive down and get to know her. [37:08.300 --> 37:12.300] And especially all the stuff she has done in her life and all the [37:12.300 --> 37:15.300] time, she's essentially stood up to people that have told her what [37:15.300 --> 37:16.300] she is. [37:16.300 --> 37:18.300] The more I think she can earn respect from others. [37:18.300 --> 37:19.300] Okay. [37:19.300 --> 37:24.300] Jess talked about she really likes the woman that has a lot of [37:24.300 --> 37:25.300] tattoos. [37:25.300 --> 37:29.300] And I can only presume she's talking about the person that we are [37:29.300 --> 37:31.300] going to talk about next on this podcast, Mike. [37:31.300 --> 37:32.300] Yeah. [37:32.300 --> 37:34.300] I would say not only a lot of tattoos. [37:34.300 --> 37:39.300] I obviously did not count and only so much was shown to me, [37:39.300 --> 37:42.300] but I'm not going to go so far as to say the most tattooed person [37:42.300 --> 37:43.300] in survivor history. [37:43.300 --> 37:44.300] Wow. [37:44.300 --> 37:45.300] Okay. [37:45.300 --> 37:48.300] That might be a off-season podcast to explore. [37:48.300 --> 37:53.300] That Zane Knight has entered the chat, Mike. [37:53.300 --> 37:54.300] Yes. [37:54.300 --> 37:55.300] He's Zane. [37:55.300 --> 37:56.300] Not quirky for sure. [37:56.300 --> 37:57.300] Very zane. [37:57.300 --> 37:58.300] Okay. [37:58.300 --> 37:59.300] All right. [37:59.300 --> 38:03.300] So we are going to talk all about Kenzie and what she told Mike [38:03.300 --> 38:04.300] Bloom. [38:04.300 --> 38:05.300] Let's take a quick break. [38:05.300 --> 38:08.300] And when we come back, Mike, let's talk about Kenzie right after [38:08.300 --> 38:09.300] this. [38:09.300 --> 38:10.300] Hello. [38:10.300 --> 38:13.300] It is Ryan and I was on a flight the other day playing one of my [38:13.300 --> 38:16.300] favorite social spin slot games on Chumba Casino.com. [40:44.300 --> 40:46.300] One other person to talk about here. [40:46.300 --> 40:50.300] Jess said she was getting good vibes from Kenzie. [40:50.300 --> 40:53.300] What was your take on Kenzie? [40:53.300 --> 40:56.300] Yeah, so Kenzie Petty. [40:56.300 --> 41:02.300] She is a salon owner based out of Heilab, Charlotte, North Carolina. [41:02.300 --> 41:06.300] So if Nicole needs her hair done, you know who to send her to. [41:06.300 --> 41:14.300] Second season in a row with a North Carolina contestant, Sabaya, was a North Carolina representative from last season. [41:14.300 --> 41:16.300] Is North Carolina the new Canada? [41:16.300 --> 41:18.300] Is there going to be a mandated one North Carolina non-every season? [41:18.300 --> 41:20.300] Hey, three out of the four last seasons. [41:20.300 --> 41:25.300] I don't think anybody from Survivor 44, but Jessi from Survivor 43. [41:25.300 --> 41:26.300] Wow, you're impact, Rob. [41:26.300 --> 41:27.300] You're impact. [41:27.300 --> 41:30.300] And slowly, I think the show wants you to do an event eventually. [41:30.300 --> 41:34.300] I was going to say in North Carolina, but you literally did one a couple seasons ago. [41:34.300 --> 41:36.300] But the North Carolina one day. [41:36.300 --> 41:39.300] Yeah, the North Carolina mafia is building. [41:39.300 --> 41:42.300] And this might be the godmother at the end of it. [41:42.300 --> 41:44.300] She is 28 years old. [41:44.300 --> 41:50.300] And yes, you have heard in previous interviews and you will hear spoiler alert in subsequent interviews. [41:50.300 --> 41:52.300] This is somebody that sticks out. [41:53.300 --> 41:54.300] Understandably so. [41:54.300 --> 41:58.300] If you're looking around in ponderosa, minding your own business in the days before the game. [41:58.300 --> 42:04.300] And you see this woman with bright red hair covered head to toe in tattoos. [42:04.300 --> 42:08.300] She's bound to draw some eyes, but I think Kenzie is not only hoping for that. [42:08.300 --> 42:09.300] She's banking on that. [42:09.300 --> 42:10.300] Okay. [42:10.300 --> 42:11.300] All right. [42:11.300 --> 42:14.300] Mike, anything else to set up before we hear about Kenzie? [42:14.300 --> 42:19.300] No, what I will say is that as we're setting up this Yannu tribe, the first three that we talked about, [42:19.300 --> 42:25.300] Bonu, Jielinski, Jess, I feel like those are probably three of the more wild cards in the [42:25.300 --> 42:31.300] group where I could see them either doing really well or perhaps there are some big Achilles [42:31.300 --> 42:34.300] heels that end up getting them voted out early on. [42:34.300 --> 42:36.300] I feel really good about these next three. [42:36.300 --> 42:42.300] I think that Kenzie and the two we're talking about tomorrow might be the most well situated [42:42.300 --> 42:46.300] when it comes to not only surviving Yannu, but a merge time situation. [42:46.300 --> 42:48.300] And hopefully by the end of this interview, you'll figure out why. [42:48.300 --> 42:49.300] Okay. [42:49.300 --> 42:51.300] Let's hear Mike's interview with Kenzie. [42:51.300 --> 42:53.300] Is your tattoo real? [42:53.300 --> 42:54.300] It's a real tattoo. [42:54.300 --> 42:55.300] I love it. [42:55.300 --> 42:58.300] I'm going to say, like, we have stories we can't afford. [42:58.300 --> 42:59.300] Yeah. [42:59.300 --> 43:00.300] I love yours. [43:00.300 --> 43:01.300] That's awesome. [43:01.300 --> 43:02.300] Thank you. [43:02.300 --> 43:03.300] How are you doing right now? [43:03.300 --> 43:04.300] I'm amazing. [43:04.300 --> 43:05.300] I'm so excited. [43:05.300 --> 43:06.300] It's surreal being here. [43:06.300 --> 43:11.300] It's been such a long process and I've worked so hard that now that it's all happening, it still [43:11.300 --> 43:14.300] doesn't feel like real, but it's real. [43:14.300 --> 43:15.300] We're here and it's happening. [43:15.300 --> 43:20.300] Well, to start, let's just do for, you know, audio purposes, just give me name, age, occupation. [43:20.300 --> 43:21.300] Okay. [43:21.300 --> 43:24.300] Kenzie, I'm 28 and I'm a hairstylist and salon owner. [43:24.300 --> 43:25.300] Hairs and salon owner. [43:25.300 --> 43:27.300] How long have you owned the salon for? [43:27.300 --> 43:29.300] I've owned the salon for four years. [43:29.300 --> 43:32.300] So COVID happened right after our first birthday. [43:32.300 --> 43:33.300] Yeah. [43:33.300 --> 43:34.300] Wow. [43:34.300 --> 43:35.300] So that's a COVID baby. [43:35.300 --> 43:36.300] It's a COVID baby. [43:36.300 --> 43:37.300] Yeah. [43:37.300 --> 43:38.300] And I mean, I was a baby when I opened it. [43:38.300 --> 43:39.300] I was 24 when I opened it. [43:39.300 --> 43:40.300] So. [43:40.300 --> 43:41.300] So what was the path? [43:41.300 --> 43:43.300] I'm assuming you were, you know, a stylist before that. [43:43.300 --> 43:44.300] Yeah. [43:44.300 --> 43:49.300] So I started doing hair when I was 15. [43:49.300 --> 43:51.300] I was either going to, I got my first salon job. [43:51.300 --> 43:55.300] I was either going to do hair or I was going to like marry an old rich dying man. [43:55.300 --> 43:57.300] Those were, those were my life. [43:57.300 --> 44:02.300] Those were my life plans, but now I get to be my own old rich man. [44:02.300 --> 44:03.300] Yeah. [44:03.300 --> 44:08.300] So I had done hair for a long time, worked under some different salon owners and I just saw [44:08.300 --> 44:09.300] I could do it better. [44:09.300 --> 44:12.300] And a space opened up, opportunity struck. [44:12.300 --> 44:17.300] I wrote a business plan in four days and was negotiating a lease a week later. [44:17.300 --> 44:20.300] I mean, this really is building the plane as it flies, right? [44:20.300 --> 44:21.300] Yeah. [44:21.300 --> 44:25.300] What a better way to prepare yourself for survivor a game that you also have to build as it flies. [44:25.300 --> 44:26.300] A hundred percent. [44:26.300 --> 44:31.300] I'm very much someone who takes what's in front of me by the horns and with grace and [44:31.300 --> 44:33.300] a smile on my face and succeeds. [44:33.300 --> 44:36.300] Like everything I've ever wanted in life, I've succeeded. [44:36.300 --> 44:40.300] Maybe some bumps in the road, but you know, I just tumble through them. [44:40.300 --> 44:41.300] I keep them moving. [44:41.300 --> 44:46.300] Well, let's talk about your newfound success to be in the next 26 days. [44:46.300 --> 44:47.300] Thank you. [44:47.300 --> 44:49.300] And what brought you out onto the island from the salon? [44:49.300 --> 44:56.300] From the salon to the island, honestly, I was watching survivor and Russell was in charge of [44:56.300 --> 44:57.300] his tribe at the time. [44:57.300 --> 45:00.300] And I was just like, I could do this better. [45:00.300 --> 45:03.300] Like, I think this tribe needs better leadership. [45:03.300 --> 45:05.300] Like he's kind of a bully. [45:05.300 --> 45:09.300] And so I told my fiance, I was like, I'm thinking about applying for survivor. [45:09.300 --> 45:11.300] I was like, you're literally born and bred and built for this. [45:11.300 --> 45:13.300] You should definitely do that. [45:13.300 --> 45:16.300] So have you been applying since those like salad Russell hands days? [45:16.300 --> 45:17.300] No, I applied one time. [45:17.300 --> 45:18.300] Wow. [45:18.300 --> 45:19.300] So what? [45:19.300 --> 45:20.300] One shot. [45:20.300 --> 45:22.300] So what took that long for you to finally say, okay, I'm going to do this. [45:22.300 --> 45:26.300] Well, I only found survivor during the pandemic. [45:26.300 --> 45:31.300] Oh, I'm a new survivor fan baby, but I devoured it all. [45:31.300 --> 45:32.300] It's funny. [45:32.300 --> 45:36.300] During the pandemic, my psychic lived in my apartment building and I needed a role of toilet paper. [45:36.300 --> 45:39.300] So I went to her apartment to get a role of toilet paper. [45:39.300 --> 45:40.300] And she had survivor on. [45:40.300 --> 45:41.300] She's a super fan. [45:41.300 --> 45:42.300] And I was like, what is this? [45:42.300 --> 45:43.300] And she was like survivor. [45:43.300 --> 45:46.300] And I had already watched her everything on TV. [45:46.300 --> 45:49.300] So I was like, sure, I'll watch a 40 season TV show. [45:49.300 --> 45:51.300] I devoured it. [45:51.300 --> 45:52.300] I got obsessed with it. [45:52.300 --> 45:57.300] I got obsessed with the game, obsessed with the human connections and breaking those connections [45:57.300 --> 45:59.300] and the backstabbing and the friendships. [45:59.300 --> 46:02.300] Like it's all just so, you know, we all love it. [46:02.300 --> 46:03.300] It's magical. [46:03.300 --> 46:04.300] There's nothing else like it in the world. [46:04.300 --> 46:08.300] So what you don't know is that your psychic had that on knowing they could come down. [46:08.300 --> 46:09.300] Right. [46:09.300 --> 46:10.300] You can become on the show. [46:10.300 --> 46:15.300] She had her crystal ball out before I came to get the toilet paper like Kenzie needs to, [46:15.300 --> 46:16.300] the premonition. [46:16.300 --> 46:17.300] It's coming to me. [46:17.300 --> 46:18.300] Exactly. [46:18.300 --> 46:21.300] So what made, you know, your fiance feel like you were bored and bred for this? [46:21.300 --> 46:25.300] What's your skill set that you feel like you're bringing to my table and the one on the beach? [46:25.300 --> 46:28.300] Well, my skill set is to be a hairstylist. [46:28.300 --> 46:30.300] You have to be socially savvy. [46:30.300 --> 46:31.300] Yeah. [46:31.300 --> 46:33.300] To be a business owner, especially a young woman. [46:33.300 --> 46:37.860] You have to be socially savvy, not only with like the people who work for me, but to earn [46:37.860 --> 46:43.500] my seat at the table with other entrepreneurs and other business people in my city, you know. [46:43.500 --> 46:47.300] It doesn't come easy, especially to someone that's heavily tattooed, someone young, a woman. [46:47.300 --> 46:53.300] Like I really have had to navigate my way through earning respect and I do it with a smile on [46:53.300 --> 46:55.660] my face and I love that. [46:55.660 --> 46:59.300] On top of that, I am very smart, but it doesn't come across that way. [46:59.300 --> 47:01.460] I know I come across like an airhead. [47:01.460 --> 47:07.460] It's all a part of the plan, the divine overarching plan of my game here. [47:07.460 --> 47:09.460] Yeah, the psychic in the apartment. [47:09.460 --> 47:11.460] So he was like, you're smart, you're funny. [47:11.460 --> 47:14.460] Like people love you, you can do this. [47:14.460 --> 47:21.460] He has been my number one sport since I even had the like wine night idea to apply. [47:21.460 --> 47:22.460] That is incredible. [47:22.460 --> 47:26.460] So the question is, we just saw a hairstylist win. [47:26.460 --> 47:27.460] I know. [47:27.460 --> 47:29.460] So how are you putting up a game? [47:29.460 --> 47:34.460] You know, I'm really just going to navigate it the same way I would have if I didn't [47:34.460 --> 47:35.460] see him win. [47:35.460 --> 47:37.460] Like I am going to just play my game. [47:37.460 --> 47:44.460] And yeah, it kind of sucks that that just happened, but a good player can get through [47:44.460 --> 47:47.460] anything and jam jam winning, sure. [47:47.460 --> 47:50.460] Bad timing for me, but I can't change that. [47:50.460 --> 47:55.460] I'm not going to change my game that I've been playing my entire life to navigate this [47:55.460 --> 47:58.460] bump in the road, which I feel like will help me in the game. [47:58.460 --> 48:01.460] Like you can have a plan, something's going to mess it up. [48:01.460 --> 48:05.460] You know, sometimes you got to change it, but right now my gut is telling me to just play [48:05.460 --> 48:08.460] the same way I would have if we wouldn't have watched jam jam win. [48:08.460 --> 48:13.460] From your recent, you know, diving into the seasons, give me one winner and one non-winner [48:13.460 --> 48:15.460] that you identify with the most. [48:15.460 --> 48:19.460] Okay, non-winner, I identify with Carolyn 100%. [48:19.460 --> 48:21.460] Yeah, love her obviously. [48:21.460 --> 48:27.460] I think I have a little more, but, you know, she's weird, she's authentic, she's [48:27.460 --> 48:28.460] herself. [48:28.460 --> 48:31.460] Like I am very much that and love myself. [48:31.460 --> 48:33.460] I've been through a lot. [48:33.460 --> 48:34.460] Like I saw her. [48:34.460 --> 48:38.460] I literally cried over how much I loved her and felt seen by her. [48:38.460 --> 48:41.460] A non-winner I really liked. [48:41.460 --> 48:44.460] I really liked Cassidy from 43. [48:44.460 --> 48:46.460] I thought she was really cool. [48:46.460 --> 48:52.460] I don't know if I want to be her friend or if I like your gameplay, probably both. [48:52.460 --> 48:55.460] I really liked Amanda Kimmel. [48:56.460 --> 48:59.460] Yeah, I love her. [48:59.460 --> 49:02.460] I feel like she could have won if things were gone differently. [49:02.460 --> 49:03.460] I think she had a good social game. [49:03.460 --> 49:04.460] Love her. [49:04.460 --> 49:06.460] Like Andrea Law. [49:06.460 --> 49:08.460] I think she was good. [49:08.460 --> 49:12.460] There's a lot of non-winner women that I like. [49:12.460 --> 49:13.460] Yeah. [49:13.460 --> 49:15.460] So you talked about perception beforehand. [49:15.460 --> 49:18.460] I mean, do you think that people are really going to look at you and make those [49:18.460 --> 49:21.460] assumptions that have been made about you previously in your life? [49:22.460 --> 49:23.460] Probably. [49:23.460 --> 49:25.460] I mean, we as a society like to look at decorated things. [49:25.460 --> 49:26.460] We like Christmas trees. [49:26.460 --> 49:28.460] We like the Sistine Chapel. [49:28.460 --> 49:30.460] We like beautiful women with tattoos. [49:30.460 --> 49:35.460] It's really the only shooting of spectacle. [49:35.460 --> 49:36.460] Yeah. [49:36.460 --> 49:37.460] You know, I'm right there. [49:37.460 --> 49:38.460] Yeah, exactly. [49:38.460 --> 49:39.460] The third corner of that triangle. [49:39.460 --> 49:45.460] So yeah, people are going to look at me and I'm sure I'm one of the easiest ones to point out in the group. [49:45.460 --> 49:46.460] Like the one with all the tattoos. [49:46.460 --> 49:47.460] I know that. [49:47.460 --> 49:48.460] I know what I look like. [49:49.460 --> 49:51.460] I like what I look like. [49:51.460 --> 49:52.460] I'm no fool to that. [49:52.460 --> 49:59.460] So yeah, I'm sure people are going to perceive me as like probably a mixture of jam jam and carolin and think I'm really [49:59.460 --> 50:00.460] dangerous. [50:00.460 --> 50:01.460] And you know what? [50:01.460 --> 50:02.460] I am. [50:02.460 --> 50:04.460] So they're not wrong for thinking that. [50:04.460 --> 50:07.460] But that's up to me to be like, no, I'm stupid. [50:07.460 --> 50:09.460] Yeah, I guess like that's the question. [50:09.460 --> 50:14.460] It's like, how are you going to try to subvert that steer away from that very dangerous curve? [50:14.460 --> 50:17.460] I think I'm going to play up of being dumb a little bit. [50:17.460 --> 50:22.460] And then I think I'm really just going to go for the hard connections to the point where people [50:22.460 --> 50:23.460] don't want to get rid of me. [50:23.460 --> 50:25.460] They're like, no, I can trust her. [50:25.460 --> 50:26.460] I need her. [50:26.460 --> 50:27.460] I am vulnerable. [50:27.460 --> 50:31.460] Like I know she'll vote with me and like maybe they don't. [50:31.460 --> 50:32.460] You know? [50:32.460 --> 50:35.460] But I need them to believe that and I am good at making connections. [50:35.460 --> 50:36.460] That's what I do in my job. [50:36.460 --> 50:38.460] Like anyone can cut hair. [50:38.460 --> 50:39.460] Trust me. [50:39.460 --> 50:40.460] It's not that hard. [50:40.460 --> 50:45.460] But it takes someone special to get someone to like feel comfortable and vulnerable and keep coming back to you. [50:45.460 --> 50:48.460] Clients that have been coming back to me for over 10 years. [50:48.460 --> 50:49.460] They keep coming back. [50:49.460 --> 50:54.460] And that comes from me giving them a place to be vulnerable and safe and someone they like to be around. [50:54.460 --> 50:56.460] I think that's important out here. [50:56.460 --> 50:59.460] Like we're going to be starving and getting rained on and terrible. [50:59.460 --> 51:01.460] Like we're going to need some morale. [51:01.460 --> 51:02.460] Okay. [51:02.460 --> 51:04.460] And I'm bringing morale. [51:04.460 --> 51:05.460] Yeah. [51:05.460 --> 51:10.460] What I found so interesting is the way Jam Jam voiced his like EQ in the final tribal council was this idea of like [51:10.460 --> 51:14.460] the twinkle in the eye of when you're happy and then when you don't have that twinkle [51:14.460 --> 51:15.460] I know that you're lying. [51:15.460 --> 51:16.460] Is that something that you get as well? [51:16.460 --> 51:17.460] Oh 100%. [51:17.460 --> 51:21.460] From that like really personal contact job that your occupation depends on. [51:21.460 --> 51:22.460] Oh yeah. [51:22.460 --> 51:26.460] I know if from the moment someone walks in the door even if they're not my client. [51:26.460 --> 51:27.460] If the vibe is different. [51:27.460 --> 51:28.460] If something happened. [51:28.460 --> 51:32.460] And I know if they're in a place where they want to talk about it or not. [51:32.460 --> 51:35.460] And I know if I should bring the Kleenex over to the station or not. [51:35.460 --> 51:36.460] Okay. [51:36.460 --> 51:38.460] It's a vibe thing. [51:38.460 --> 51:39.460] It's a liking. [51:40.460 --> 51:45.460] It's a genuinely caring about like other people and their emotions and what they're going through thing. [51:45.460 --> 51:46.460] And yeah. [51:46.460 --> 51:51.460] In this game I'm going to have to use that in a way I don't normally use and use it against people. [51:51.460 --> 51:52.460] And it is what it is. [51:52.460 --> 51:56.460] I've come to terms in peace with that and I'm grateful to have that tool in my bell. [51:56.460 --> 51:57.460] Yeah. [51:57.460 --> 52:02.460] So when it comes to the other people do you value anything specific in a possible alliance member? [52:02.460 --> 52:04.460] Are you looking for like a number one or ride or die? [52:04.460 --> 52:06.460] I would love to find my lobster. [52:07.460 --> 52:08.460] Yeah. [52:08.460 --> 52:11.460] I would love to find my lobster. [52:11.460 --> 52:12.460] I value. [52:12.460 --> 52:13.460] The area will look as well. [52:13.460 --> 52:15.460] So I think the model comparison makes sense. [52:15.460 --> 52:16.460] Thank you. [52:16.460 --> 52:17.460] Thank you. [52:17.460 --> 52:18.460] You get it. [52:18.460 --> 52:19.460] You get me. [52:19.460 --> 52:20.460] So yeah. [52:20.460 --> 52:21.460] I would love to find someone funny. [52:21.460 --> 52:23.460] I want to like have a good time. [52:23.460 --> 52:26.460] I think trust would be amazing to find. [52:26.460 --> 52:30.460] I am open to it but I'm not banking on it. [52:30.460 --> 52:35.460] I think it's a really hard thing to find out here from kind of like in the olden days. [52:35.460 --> 52:37.460] I feel like you could find your ride or die and go to the end with them. [52:37.460 --> 52:39.460] And you don't really see that much anymore. [52:39.460 --> 52:43.460] You did with Jam Jam in Carolyn but like it's very rare like in the new era. [52:43.460 --> 52:47.460] So I'm going with like a trust for today kind of person. [52:47.460 --> 52:52.460] I have no problem like pulling a like Kim and like weaving between everyone. [52:52.460 --> 52:54.460] Like I'm good with that. [52:54.460 --> 52:57.460] So that being said, let's look at the possible competition. [52:57.460 --> 52:59.460] It could be your lobster here. [52:59.460 --> 53:00.460] I mean, let's go fishing. [53:00.460 --> 53:03.460] Is there anyone that's giving you like good vibes right now? [53:03.460 --> 53:07.460] Let's meet some people that if you show up on the beach with them on day one, you're like [53:07.460 --> 53:08.460] best case scenario. [53:08.460 --> 53:09.460] Okay. [53:09.460 --> 53:10.460] Cool. [53:10.460 --> 53:11.460] The guy with the beard. [53:11.460 --> 53:13.460] We've been giving each other the brows. [53:13.460 --> 53:15.460] I feel like I'm getting a good vibe there. [53:15.460 --> 53:17.460] No, we're talking the brows like popping a brow. [53:17.460 --> 53:18.460] Yeah. [53:18.460 --> 53:19.460] Like popping the brow. [53:19.460 --> 53:22.460] I saw him skipping after an interview. [53:22.460 --> 53:23.460] Loved it. [53:23.460 --> 53:24.460] It was like that. [53:24.460 --> 53:25.460] My guy. [53:25.460 --> 53:27.460] A man skipping. [53:27.460 --> 53:29.460] Loved it. [53:29.460 --> 53:30.460] So yeah. [53:30.460 --> 53:32.460] I would love to like figure that out. [53:33.460 --> 53:36.460] The girl with the curly red hair. [53:36.460 --> 53:37.460] She's cute. [53:37.460 --> 53:39.460] I just like her hair, I think. [53:39.460 --> 53:42.460] And that's I'm imagining like from an occupation. [53:42.460 --> 53:43.460] I'm literally judging everyone. [53:43.460 --> 53:44.460] I'm literally judging everyone. [53:44.460 --> 53:45.460] It's cool. [53:45.460 --> 53:46.460] Yeah. [53:46.460 --> 53:47.460] Love her hair. [53:47.460 --> 53:48.460] Split ends can't work with you. [53:48.460 --> 53:49.460] Yeah. [53:49.460 --> 53:51.460] You know, we didn't get a haircut before we went on TV. [53:51.460 --> 53:52.460] What happened here? [53:52.460 --> 53:54.460] No, everyone's hair is actually in pretty good shape. [53:54.460 --> 53:57.460] I must say, we are a beautiful cast. [53:57.460 --> 53:58.460] Like everyone is hot. [53:58.460 --> 54:00.460] So I'm like, cool. [54:00.460 --> 54:01.460] Fitting right in. [54:02.460 --> 54:03.460] So then let's talk about the other side. [54:03.460 --> 54:04.460] Yeah. [54:04.460 --> 54:06.460] Who's not vibing with you right now? [54:06.460 --> 54:10.460] You know, I'm really trying to not invest my energy in that thought because I know people [54:10.460 --> 54:19.140] are nervous and I know not everyone is going to be like, you know, okay, I'm just trying [54:19.140 --> 54:20.620] not to play judgment. [54:20.620 --> 54:26.460] But if I was, here's the T. The woman who's like older with the dark hair. [54:26.460 --> 54:30.460] She's tan with the like, I'm sorry, with the black hair. [54:30.460 --> 54:33.460] Has not smiled at me one time. [54:33.460 --> 54:34.460] Interesting. [54:34.460 --> 54:35.460] Not once. [54:35.460 --> 54:36.460] And I've tried. [54:36.460 --> 54:37.460] I've tried. [54:37.460 --> 54:41.460] So I'm hoping she's just like missing her kids or something. [54:41.460 --> 54:42.460] I don't know. [54:42.460 --> 54:45.460] And then there's one guy with like a shaved head who's tan. [54:45.460 --> 54:46.460] Mm hmm. [54:46.460 --> 54:47.460] Not, not a smileer. [54:47.460 --> 54:48.460] Interesting. [54:48.460 --> 54:49.460] And I value that in a person. [54:49.460 --> 54:54.460] So like we're not just like smiling because Jeff Brooks walked by like that fucking weird. [54:54.460 --> 54:58.460] What would you say is your biggest superpower that applies to this game? [54:58.460 --> 55:05.460] I would say my ability to like make people feel vulnerable and to be vulnerable with other [55:05.460 --> 55:06.460] people. [55:06.460 --> 55:11.460] I think that goes so deep, especially now, like the new era. [55:11.460 --> 55:14.460] People and human connection is really important. [55:14.460 --> 55:15.460] It's so fast. [55:15.460 --> 55:17.460] There's not a ton of like time. [55:17.460 --> 55:21.460] So you have to put those connections on super speed and I live my life fast. [55:21.460 --> 55:22.460] Like I do everything fast. [55:22.460 --> 55:26.460] I move my fiance in after two weeks of dating. [55:26.460 --> 55:27.460] Okay. [55:27.460 --> 55:28.460] Fast, fast, fast. [55:28.460 --> 55:29.460] I can get. [55:29.460 --> 55:30.460] Where are you the one to ask her? [55:30.460 --> 55:31.460] Was he like, I'm coming in. [55:31.460 --> 55:32.460] He just never left. [55:32.460 --> 55:35.460] And I was like, you live here now. [55:35.460 --> 55:37.460] And I should put your name on the lease so you can get a pool pass. [55:37.460 --> 55:39.460] And he was like, okay. [55:39.460 --> 55:40.460] So yeah. [55:40.460 --> 55:41.460] I just live my life fast. [55:41.460 --> 55:42.460] So yeah, I guess it was me. [55:42.460 --> 55:43.460] No. [55:43.460 --> 55:44.460] I mean, that's a new era attitude. [55:44.460 --> 55:45.460] Yeah. [55:45.460 --> 55:47.460] Like you're well equipped for that just mile a minute. [55:47.460 --> 55:50.460] Name's going to be changing right up until tribal mindset. [55:50.460 --> 55:51.460] Yeah. [55:51.460 --> 55:52.460] Yeah. [55:52.460 --> 55:53.460] I'm fine with that. [55:53.460 --> 55:54.460] And like I said, I applied one time and got it. [55:54.460 --> 55:55.460] Like I'm a fast girl. [55:55.460 --> 55:57.460] It makes something. [55:57.460 --> 55:58.460] I get it. [55:58.460 --> 55:59.460] As quick as humanly possible. [55:59.460 --> 56:01.460] So, so let me go. [56:01.460 --> 56:02.460] Let me throw out a scenario for you. [56:02.460 --> 56:03.460] Okay. [56:03.460 --> 56:05.460] So let's say, first couple days on the beach abote pulls up guys [56:05.460 --> 56:06.460] there. [56:06.460 --> 56:07.460] You know what's happening. [56:07.460 --> 56:09.460] He has a note, picks up one person to go on a journey from your [56:09.460 --> 56:10.460] tribe. [56:10.460 --> 56:11.460] Yeah. [56:11.460 --> 56:12.460] To that point. [56:12.460 --> 56:13.460] All right. [56:13.460 --> 56:14.460] Are you rushing on that boat? [56:14.460 --> 56:15.460] Are you trying house on that path? [56:15.460 --> 56:18.460] You know, I think the first journey no but I would go for the [56:18.460 --> 56:19.460] second one. [56:19.460 --> 56:23.460] For sure. [56:23.460 --> 56:25.780] in this season where I'm like, pick the shortest one. [56:25.780 --> 56:26.700] They'll be looking at the rocks. [56:26.700 --> 56:27.540] They won't notice the sticks. [56:27.540 --> 56:29.220] Yeah, I'm like, we're switching it out. [56:29.220 --> 56:30.460] But I thought it was brilliant. [56:30.460 --> 56:32.520] Yeah, I would definitely volunteer to do something like that. [56:32.520 --> 56:33.740] Like, we're here to play Survivor. [56:33.740 --> 56:34.940] I'm not here to walk. [56:34.940 --> 56:36.660] It's like, I'm not sitting on my couch anymore. [56:36.660 --> 56:40.060] I'm in it, and I don't want to go home thinking [56:40.060 --> 56:41.060] I could have done something. [56:41.060 --> 56:42.340] So I'm doing everything. [56:42.340 --> 56:44.340] Like, we're doing it all. [56:44.340 --> 56:46.240] So how do advantages incorporate into that? [56:46.240 --> 56:48.220] Because we found out of the new era, it's a blessing. [56:48.220 --> 56:50.420] It's a curse, but are you hungry for them? [56:50.420 --> 56:51.060] Yeah, yeah. [56:51.060 --> 56:52.940] I'll be searching for sure. [56:52.940 --> 56:58.260] I'm definitely going to do my best to not tell anybody. [56:58.260 --> 57:01.420] I would love to keep it secret, but I have the gift of gab. [57:01.420 --> 57:02.940] I am a blabber mouth. [57:02.940 --> 57:04.500] I am a big mouth. [57:04.500 --> 57:06.500] So I'm really trying to lock it up. [57:06.500 --> 57:09.700] This season, like, keep it together, [57:09.700 --> 57:13.020] hoping I surprise myself by keeping it secret and using it [57:13.020 --> 57:16.420] for me or, like, surprising my lobster. [57:16.420 --> 57:16.900] Yeah. [57:16.900 --> 57:19.620] Is this something you've tried to, like, prep yourself for ahead [57:19.620 --> 57:19.940] of time? [57:19.940 --> 57:22.300] I was like, tell me a secret, and I'll try to keep it for two [57:22.300 --> 57:23.300] weeks. [57:23.300 --> 57:24.300] Suck at it. [57:24.300 --> 57:25.300] I suck so bad. [57:25.300 --> 57:26.300] Oh, no. [57:26.300 --> 57:28.460] I mean, I guess the good thing is authenticity cuts both ways. [57:28.460 --> 57:31.220] Like, if people know that about it, then it helps. [57:31.220 --> 57:32.220] Yeah. [57:32.220 --> 57:36.500] I really, when I am telling us, when I have a secret to tell, [57:36.500 --> 57:38.460] I literally, like, do this with my body. [57:38.460 --> 57:39.460] And I'm like, oh! [57:39.460 --> 57:42.420] You're like Kristen Wigg in this episode of Scratch. [57:42.420 --> 57:43.420] I know. [57:43.420 --> 57:44.420] It's bad. [57:44.420 --> 57:48.060] But I have been actively grounding, working on grounding. [57:48.060 --> 57:49.700] And this is, like, my game. [57:49.700 --> 57:54.020] I'm not going to mess it up by my big mouth, OK? [57:54.020 --> 57:55.020] We're playing. [57:55.020 --> 57:56.020] This is not regular life. [57:56.020 --> 57:57.020] This is Survivor. [57:57.020 --> 57:59.460] What have you been doing in preparation for this? [57:59.460 --> 58:00.460] In preparation? [58:00.460 --> 58:01.460] Well, I got a tanning membership. [58:01.460 --> 58:02.460] What? [58:02.460 --> 58:05.460] You're about to go out here. [58:05.460 --> 58:07.860] This is where he's excited to tanning. [58:07.860 --> 58:08.860] Yeah. [58:08.860 --> 58:09.860] No. [58:09.860 --> 58:10.860] Because I'm pale. [58:10.860 --> 58:11.860] I had to get a base. [58:11.860 --> 58:12.860] Listen. [58:12.860 --> 58:13.860] It's a failed pale appearance. [58:13.860 --> 58:14.860] Yeah. [58:14.860 --> 58:15.860] You get it. [58:15.860 --> 58:16.860] It's validating it. [58:16.860 --> 58:17.860] This is my base, OK. [58:17.860 --> 58:18.860] I would have read really bad without it. [58:19.340 --> 58:20.340] I've been hitting the gym. [58:20.340 --> 58:21.340] I've been swimming. [58:21.340 --> 58:25.100] I went to the American Ninja Warrior Gym, doing a ton of puzzles, watching a ton of [58:25.100 --> 58:31.900] survivor, journaling, grounding, meditating, basically anything I can think of. [58:31.900 --> 58:38.220] I've been fasting, been hitting all everything I can, physical, spiritual, mental, studying [58:38.220 --> 58:39.220] the game. [58:39.220 --> 58:42.100] Talk to me about that spiritual thing, because I feel like it's something that's been focused [58:42.100 --> 58:45.940] on more in the new era, but I feel like maybe it's just the journey it's a society we've [58:45.940 --> 58:46.940] had with mental health. [58:46.940 --> 58:52.740] But it's so interesting to have that become, to your point, now, a necessary part of prepping [58:52.740 --> 58:57.300] for this game is that things are so stressful, and your second, third, fourth guessing yourself [58:57.300 --> 59:01.700] that you need to have that ability to ground yourself to the sand that you're a part of. [59:01.700 --> 59:02.700] Yeah. [59:02.700 --> 59:03.700] Yeah. [59:03.700 --> 59:07.460] It's really interesting because I'm not a super spiritual person in general. [59:07.460 --> 59:12.980] I'm very much like, well, I guess I can be, but it's not my bread and butter. [59:12.980 --> 59:21.400] So I'm working harder to get more in touch with myself and who I am underneath the funny [59:21.400 --> 59:22.940] girl thing. [59:22.940 --> 59:28.180] So I had my first interview and I just cried the whole time and I was like, what is happening? [59:28.180 --> 59:29.500] This is never me. [59:29.500 --> 59:33.540] This is not what I generally do, but I am funny. [59:33.540 --> 59:39.540] I am a showman all the time, but this journey of survivor is just mine. [59:39.540 --> 59:42.860] I do so much stuff for other people with the salon, with my family. [59:42.860 --> 59:47.700] I'm constantly doing stuff for them, but survivor, this is just my 26 days where I get to just [59:47.700 --> 59:48.700] have my moment. [59:48.700 --> 59:49.700] I know. [59:49.700 --> 59:51.660] I could cry again. [59:51.660 --> 59:57.460] And it's really special and I'm just grateful to be here and to learn about myself and push [59:57.460 --> 59:58.460] myself. [59:58.460 --> 59:59.460] Yeah. [59:59.460 --> 01:00:00.460] No, that's beautiful.

[01:00:00] Yeah.

[01:00:01] It's an amazing attitude to walk in with.

[01:00:02] Yeah.

[01:00:03] Million dollars would be nice.

[01:00:04] Yeah.

[01:00:05] A personal fulfillment and being able to experience yourself in a way that you never went before

[01:00:09] is icing on that cake that you won't be able to eat for 26 days.

[01:00:13] I know exactly.

[01:00:15] So talk to me about decision making.

[01:00:17] Okay.

[01:00:18] As a business owner, it's tantamount to your success.

[01:00:20] Yes.

[01:00:21] But when you do it in your real life, are you someone who like maps out what you're doing?

[01:00:25] Are you someone that just goes by your gut?

[01:00:27] How do you usually incorporate what you're thinking into your decisions?

[01:00:30] I am definitely a gut person, but I am open to like hearing others' opinions.

[01:00:37] My fiance owns a business right next door to mine.

[01:00:39] He owns a photo studio.

[01:00:40] So we have the same like landlords and deal with the same vendors and stuff like that.

[01:00:44] So I will just be like, no, we should do this.

[01:00:46] And he's like, well, what about this, this and that?

[01:00:48] And sometimes my gut is right.

[01:00:49] And sometimes his more analytical mind is right.

[01:00:52] So if I can find someone like that out here who's got more of an analytical mind, that

[01:00:56] I can like bounce my gut off of like that is ideal because I am a like supply by the seat

[01:01:02] of my pants.

[01:01:03] Like we're doing this.

[01:01:04] Let's go kind of girly.

[01:01:05] Is there a decision that's been made on Survivor that you've watched that you like?

[01:01:09] Got yourself out of your seat to be like, what are you doing?

[01:01:11] Why would you do that?

[01:01:12] I never do that.

[01:01:13] I'm thinking about like last season.

[01:01:19] Let me think.

[01:01:22] Wow, there's a lot of things I probably wouldn't do.

[01:01:29] But you know, Danny like bossing Heidi around really hit me deep.

[01:01:34] I was like, why is he talking to her like that?

[01:01:36] Like that is not an efficient way to communicate.

[01:01:38] But sometimes it is because Boston Rob did it and it worked.

[01:01:41] And then I guess it kind of worked because the vote went the way Danny wanted, but it

[01:01:44] didn't work for him long term because no one wants to work with someone like that.

[01:01:47] Yeah, personality type that you're just going to be like, no, too.

[01:01:51] That's a person.

[01:01:52] No, I never am a flat no girly, but it's definitely a like, what if they weren't here?

[01:01:56] Wouldn't that be fun?

[01:02:01] What would you say is your hottest survivor take?

[01:02:05] My hottest survivor take, I don't know if it's that hot, but this is one that I have argued

[01:02:09] about on the internet.

[01:02:11] So I like the wokeness.

[01:02:13] I think it's here to stay.

[01:02:15] And I'm sorry if there are like people at home on the couch that won't watch anymore because

[01:02:19] Jeff doesn't say guys like they can kiss my ass as far as I'm concerned because the world

[01:02:24] is changing, the nation is changing in a way that I am stoked to represent, stoked to

[01:02:31] be a part of and I want it to catch like faster, like wildfire, like I'm here for the wokeness.

[01:02:36] Okay, like I love the diversity, I love the representation, like I want it to stick around.

[01:02:41] Amen.

[01:02:42] And I can also imagine from your own perspective, you deal with so many different people, so

[01:02:45] many different walks of life, like you see what this nation is capable of and what can

[01:02:50] be represented on the screen.

[01:02:51] Yeah, yeah, I mean it's survivor is a microcosm of life, like we've been saying that for 20

[01:02:57] years, you know, I've been saying it for three, but the collective, I'm a part of it now.

[01:03:03] Okay, it's a microcosm of life, so why not reflect that on such a big platform, like give

[01:03:08] some people who haven't always had a voice, a voice and a platform to get their stories

[01:03:14] out there, like that's beautiful, like it's been a white man's club for way too long,

[01:03:20] you know, like no offense.

[01:03:21] Not take it.

[01:03:22] Yeah, we got to.

[01:03:23] I'm here for the wokeness, I love it, like I'm here for the girls, the gays, the vase,

[01:03:35] like I'm here for the black, I'm here for everything in between, so yeah.

[01:03:40] To finish things off, give me a fictional character or a celebrity that you would want

[01:03:45] to bring out for a loved one's visit.

[01:03:48] Oh, okay, a loved one's visit.

[01:03:51] Okay, I'm going to bring out, it's a really, really hard, can I bring two, can I please

[01:04:00] bring two?

[01:04:01] Okay, the host of catfish, Nev Schulman.

[01:04:03] I have only a million guesses, I don't think I was going to go with Nev Schulman.

[01:04:09] Oh, you're wrong, or Detective Elliot Stabler from Law and Order SVU.

[01:04:15] Okay.

[01:04:16] A little Chris for Maloney.

[01:04:18] I was going to say, now would it be Chris for Maloney or specifically Stabler?

[01:04:24] I would take either, well I'm not picky when it comes to the things, but I would love a

[01:04:28] Stabler moment.

[01:04:29] Yeah, I mean he can definitely assess, like, look at people tell you who's lying, who's

[01:04:34] got something that they're withholding.

[01:04:35] He would be strong.

[01:04:36] Yeah.

[01:04:37] Yeah, actually Nev would do a pretty good job with that.

[01:04:39] I know he can run, see, it's my practice, it's more so you're like, like, the star worship

[01:04:44] but also actively recruiting them.

[01:04:45] Yeah, I'm not though.

[01:04:47] You're a business owner for a reason.

[01:04:49] He looked dumb, big smart, big friend.

[01:04:51] Well, what are you feeling right now?

[01:04:53] You know, we are shaking up the ingredients right now.

[01:04:56] What's like the cocktail before we pour things out on the beach in a long time?

[01:05:00] You know, it's a little bit of everything.

[01:05:02] I had my good cry out, I've had a good cry in the shower, I've gotten my good cries out

[01:05:07] and now I'm just excited, I'm ready, I feel very prepared, as prepared as you can be.

[01:05:13] I'm surprisingly a lot more zen than I thought I would be.

[01:05:16] I don't know if it's the like, meditating, not talking for days thing, but...

[01:05:20] You went into like a monk-like vow of silence.

[01:05:23] Yes, yes.

[01:05:24] So I'm feeling very zen.

[01:05:25] I'm just ready.

[01:05:27] I feel like I have my dancing shoes on and I'm waiting for the club to open.

[01:05:30] Like, I'm just ready to go at this point.

[01:05:32] Like, I'm just ready to party.

[01:05:34] Well, we'll hit the sand and we'll start dancing a little bit.

[01:05:36] Yes, I can wait.

[01:05:37] This was an absolute delight.

[01:05:38] Thank you.

[01:05:39] This was so much fun to get to talk with you and get to know you.

[01:05:41] Yeah.

[01:05:42] Well, we'll laugh, we'll cry alongside you for the next hour many days.

[01:05:46] Yes, 26.

[01:05:47] 26 specifically, but this is so fantastic to do.

[01:05:50] Thank you so much.

[01:05:51] Thank you.

[01:05:52] You know, everything in anticipation too, and especially once the club opens and...

[01:05:55] You hit it, you hit it, 26 hours, don't stop dancing fun.

[01:06:00] Giddy up, baby, let's go.

[01:06:01] All right, everybody, there you go.

[01:06:03] Great job, Mike, with Kenzie.

[01:06:05] Yeah, I really enjoyed this.

[01:06:07] She was just...

[01:06:08] Now, I would say she's the sunshine of the cast, but there is one other person on this

[01:06:12] cast that honestly, we might have like a battle of the solar titans going on in this

[01:06:16] season.

[01:06:17] I'm excited to talk about her, but Kenzie, as soon as you talk with her, in my opinion,

[01:06:21] at least, from getting to sit down with her, you understand why she's been so successful

[01:06:25] at her business, because she just has that natural ambulance about her.

[01:06:28] Sure, Mike, one note for you.

[01:06:31] Really wish you would have followed up on the psychic.

[01:06:34] She mentioned that, oh, yeah, I went to my psychic to get a toilet paper, and then she was

[01:06:41] watching Survivor.

[01:06:42] No follow-up on, what did the psychic say on how you're going to do?

[01:06:46] Well, it's because she knew that I'd ask about that, and so I want to keep her guessing,

[01:06:50] right?

[01:06:51] Is that the wildest survivor origin story you've ever heard of?

[01:06:53] I was going to get toilet paper from my psychic who happened to have Survivor on, and I said,

[01:06:59] oh, that...

[01:07:00] But you know what?

[01:07:01] Isn't that crazy?

[01:07:02] The psychic had the show on that she was going to go beyond, like, this is your future,

[01:07:06] Kenzie.

[01:07:07] Yeah, that's exactly what I called out, too.

[01:07:10] It's absolutely wild.

[01:07:11] I think that proves that psychic's my hero.

[01:07:13] She knew.

[01:07:14] Also, psychic saw COVID coming, stocked up on the toilet paper.

[01:07:18] She's good.

[01:07:19] They should have told us.

[01:07:20] Why did they tell us?

[01:07:21] She's good.

[01:07:22] This isn't the watcher psychic of Kenzie, okay?

[01:07:24] Wow.

[01:07:25] Okay.

[01:07:26] You can intervene.

[01:07:27] I mean, as she did by putting Survivor on in the background, I mean, if Kenzie goes on

[01:07:31] to win the million dollars, like, how much toilet paper is she buying for that psychic?

[01:07:34] A lot.

[01:07:35] A lot.

[01:07:36] Oh, she might be sitting on a stockpile, a hoarder.

[01:07:39] All right.

[01:07:40] So, yeah, Mike, I was pretty impressed with Kenzie overall.

[01:07:43] Like, I think that something that came up between you and her about this idea of, like,

[01:07:50] if Jam, Jam and Carolyn had a baby, no, it's not Carson, maybe it's Kenzie.

[01:07:55] Yeah, because I think that Kenzie obviously has that Carolyn look to her.

[01:08:00] And I think, well, perhaps a bit more of like that smiley, cheery personality than Carolyn

[01:08:05] was in her, you know, most fun moments on the island.

[01:08:08] I do think that she has a bit of that offbeat look to her, but again, you look at the vocation,

[01:08:13] you especially look at those social skills and like, that is Jam, Jam to a tee.

[01:08:18] I just had so much fun talking with her.

[01:08:21] And I mean, I mentioned this in my interview, Rob, what do you think?

[01:08:25] Do you believe that people will look at her?

[01:08:28] She has no plans to lie about her vocation from what it seems like in my interview.

[01:08:31] Do you think people are going to look at her and say, Hey, we just saw a hairdresser win

[01:08:35] like two weeks ago?

[01:08:36] Are we going to have to lie and say like, Hey, Kenzie, when you go out on survivor, don't

[01:08:41] sell them your hairdressers, say you're a lawyer, then that'll be, that'll be better.

[01:08:47] Like, what come on?

[01:08:48] What are we going to do?

[01:08:49] Because Jam, Jam one survivor, every single person that one survivor, like, yeah, I mean,

[01:08:52] I know that Shannon Gus is very much like anti lying about your job unless it's like

[01:08:56] extenuating circumstances.

[01:08:57] And Kenzie expresses the same thing of like, listen, I'm going to play the way I always was going

[01:09:02] to play.

[01:09:03] It doesn't matter to me.

[01:09:04] Yeah, I would say I think it's fine that I'm a hairdresser, maybe I maybe I would not

[01:09:08] say I own my own salon.

[01:09:10] I think I would I would probably hide that.

[01:09:13] I work at a salon and I don't know if she didn't get into whether or not she would say

[01:09:17] if she was the owner of said salon.

[01:09:20] Yeah.

[01:09:21] I agree that I think certainly those leadership aspects, I mean, Kenzie is someone that is

[01:09:26] very much saying, I know how I look.

[01:09:28] I get underestimated day to day in my life as a woman, as a young business woman, as like

[01:09:33] a young entrepreneur.

[01:09:35] And so I'm just going to bring that same perception to the island.

[01:09:38] I feel like in this hyper visualize environment of survivor where people are just going to

[01:09:44] pour over personal details to try to pick out one thing of like, this is why you're threatening.

[01:09:49] Right.

[01:09:50] I could see how saying, Oh, I own my own salon might be like, Oh, okay, what skills does

[01:09:54] that require?

[01:09:55] Right.

[01:09:56] So I think that I would not necessarily say about owning the business.

[01:10:01] But yeah, all in all, I feel like that she has the social.

[01:10:05] She also has like the business savvy to be, you know, not a business, right?

[01:10:13] She seems to be like working on her challenge ability.

[01:10:18] She talked about going to the American Ninja Warrior gym, you know, other than some wacko

[01:10:24] picks for what famous people she'd want to have visit her.

[01:10:30] I mean, this is not the most wacko we've ever seen.

[01:10:33] It's just Neve Schulman and Detective Elliot Stabler.

[01:10:37] I mean, I work at Parene magazine.

[01:10:38] They post about the tape.

[01:10:39] You need somebody to catch a catfish, but not like this.

[01:10:43] Yeah.

[01:10:44] I mean, exactly.

[01:10:45] He knows.

[01:10:46] Just bring him in.

[01:10:47] He's the top top of the bushman of fishing, right?

[01:10:49] Yeah.

[01:10:50] So, yeah, overall, I did feel like that it was like, I thought a strong presence.

[01:10:59] So, you know, I think that's a great presentation from Kenzie.

[01:11:03] Yeah.

[01:11:04] I think her, she's bringing in the right skills from her vocation.

[01:11:06] When I ask her what her biggest superpower is in the game, she says her ability to make

[01:11:10] people feel vulnerable and to be vulnerable with other people.

[01:11:14] And I think that is so key.

[01:11:16] That's why, again, in my opinion, I always say that service jobs are the best types of jobs

[01:11:22] you can have going into survivor or at least having that experience because day after day,

[01:11:27] you are used to catering to egos and dealing with various personality types in order to

[01:11:31] get like a shared goal accomplished.

[01:11:34] And so I think that's Kenzie's MO.

[01:11:37] Every day she has to have somebody walk in and feel good in a way that by the time they

[01:11:40] leave her chair, they want to come back again.

[01:11:43] And I think especially in survivor where it's an environment that is going to air everyone's

[01:11:48] vulnerabilities at one point or another, I think Kenzie's openness and then her own perception

[01:11:54] as someone who can receive openness as well.

[01:11:57] Like I think there will probably be a physically stronger presence on this tribe from people

[01:12:02] like Bonu, from the other two that we're going to talk about.

[01:12:05] But I could see Kenzie as being like socially the safest person in this tribe.

[01:12:09] I could very much see a situation where people are like, I feel good about Kenzie.

[01:12:14] As she talked about, she wants to be seen as someone that they can say, I don't want

[01:12:17] to get rid of her because I feel like I can trust her.

[01:12:20] I'm sure she has a butterfly or two tattooed on her body amidst everything going on.

[01:12:24] And she is the social equivalent of that.

[01:12:27] I guess my one question if I was going to like look for anything here.

[01:12:32] In terms of like her alliances, her alliance making, you know, if she's not in the leadership

[01:12:38] position but is like used to being a leader in her business, like is she going to mesh

[01:12:45] well with maybe if she's not viewed as the top dog in this tribe?

[01:12:50] I don't know because yes, she is used to being in a leadership position.

[01:12:55] But as she mentions, she's also used to existing as a business owner who is a woman as well.

[01:13:02] And so she is used to being in certain environments where she is surrounded by other people, usually

[01:13:07] men who are also type A's who also have a sense of leadership.

[01:13:12] And she probably knows when to like speak up and when she needs to just cowtow to their

[01:13:16] egos and let them do the talking.

[01:13:19] And I can see the situation happening here.

[01:13:21] Again, if we have someone like Banyu saying like, okay, I have more experience on the

[01:13:25] island.

[01:13:26] This is how you cut open a coconut.

[01:13:27] I don't see Kenzie being like, no, actually, this is how you could open a coconut.

[01:13:30] My psychic told me how to do this.

[01:13:32] I could see her taking a step back and sort of realizing when she needs to put her voice

[01:13:38] in versus when she doesn't.

[01:13:39] I will also say on the note of Banyu.

[01:13:41] I know I spoke last time about like Banyu and Jielinsky perhaps being a bit of a power

[01:13:45] couple.

[01:13:46] I sort of didn't mention last time.

[01:13:47] Both of them love to dance, of course, Banyu, the son of a classical Indian dancer and loves

[01:13:53] to dance as well.

[01:13:54] Jielinsky wants to be the first person to moonwalk on the sand, which is audacious to say the

[01:13:59] least.

[01:14:00] But I really see Kenzie and Banyu vibing.

[01:14:03] You know, Kenzie says she's looking for her lobster, right?

[01:14:06] She's looking for someone funny.

[01:14:08] She's looking for someone that she can have a good time with.

[01:14:10] I think Jess could fit in that category as someone who, again, is not very self-serious.

[01:14:14] But I just think the vibes I got from Banyu and Kenzie were both so positive and so joyous

[01:14:21] that I could easily see them glom onto one another.

[01:14:24] But you know, us human beings are weird, Mike, are two people that you feel like are the same.

[01:14:31] Like sometimes it's like the opposites get drawn together.

[01:14:34] I don't know.

[01:14:35] Listen, I'm just running the high from clock in D and Austin last time in the preseason.

[01:14:38] So take all my predictions with a grain of salt, but I'm baking on that one correct guess

[01:14:43] I was able to make.

[01:14:44] I just think that if people are reading each other's energies and I get that from both of

[01:14:49] them, I think they very much are, especially when I asked about like who are you not getting

[01:14:52] great vibes from?

[01:14:53] They talk about the people that are a bit shadier.

[01:14:55] They want to vibe with more open people.

[01:14:58] I think these are two of the most open people on the tribe.

[01:15:00] Kenzie liked beard guy.

[01:15:02] Well, this is a different beard guy.

[01:15:04] Oh, okay.

[01:15:05] I guess you were there.

[01:15:07] It was that one.

[01:15:08] I know the other mysterious beer guy, MBG, but that beer guy was not skipping again.

[01:15:17] The thing about that about MBG is that like skipping beard guy.

[01:15:21] Yeah, skipping beer guy, I believe was Hunter.

[01:15:24] We will meet a little bit later on.

[01:15:26] So she does mention and we'll put this in our pocket.

[01:15:28] She doesn't mention anyone on her tribe, but in terms of good vibes, she picks up from

[01:15:32] Hunter and Mo and bad vibes.

[01:15:37] And that's interesting again to speak to what I talked about before, the bad vibe she was

[01:15:40] picking up on are like people who didn't smile at me.

[01:15:44] And those were Maria and Randin.

[01:15:48] And so I don't know if Kenzie meant to be a bit ageist towards like the upper echelon of

[01:15:55] her cast.

[01:15:56] But again, I think that speaks to her.

[01:15:57] She's seeking that lobster.

[01:15:59] She's seeking those like-minded, positive, good vibes people.

[01:16:04] And the people that are coming to her a bit more sober and serious are not the ones that

[01:16:09] she wants to necessarily invest in first and foremost.

[01:16:11] All right.

[01:16:12] Mike, anything else you want to say about Jess or Kenzie here today?

[01:16:17] Well, I think that going to Kenzie as well, I think something that's also a bit similar

[01:16:22] to Carolyn.

[01:16:23] And again, I think she is offbeat.

[01:16:25] She is quirky like a Jess.

[01:16:26] And I think Kenzie with no offense suggests at least expressed to me in the interview a

[01:16:31] bit more of that game's been since, especially in her bio when she talked about how she's

[01:16:36] an absolute savage in Catan.

[01:16:39] I think that Carolyn comparison is very warranted of like, you might look at me and write me

[01:16:45] off like all the writing that's been done on my skin.

[01:16:48] But I actually am a pretty dang cutthroat.

[01:16:51] As opposed to maybe someone like Jess who's like, yeah, I really enjoy watching the show.

[01:16:56] I don't love when people are mean to each other.

[01:16:59] It seems like Kenzie is not necessarily thirsting for that.

[01:17:02] I love succession.

[01:17:03] Yes.

[01:17:04] Exactly.

[01:17:05] Like Jess, maybe that's the thing.

[01:17:07] Jess is saying that but at the same time, I don't know if she was rooting for anyone in

[01:17:11] particular in succession considering how morally repugnant all of those characters will were.

[01:17:16] And we'll see who will succeed at the end of the day.

[01:17:18] I think these two women are alike and very different from my perspective.

[01:17:23] And I think while Jess might have some problems early on with the potential to like cut a

[01:17:29] white swath in the game, should she make the merge, again, I might be jinxing it.

[01:17:34] But I think Kenzie is here to stay.

[01:17:36] I think she is really going to plant her roots died or not very early on on this tribe, make

[01:17:43] some very good connections.

[01:17:44] I don't think even if Janu somehow ends up going back to back to back to tribal, unless it's

[01:17:50] like a Sabaya situation where like all of a sudden she's gave me too hard and everyone

[01:17:54] turns on her, I don't really see her getting blindsided pre-merge.

[01:18:00] Things might change come the merge.

[01:18:02] I don't know if she'll be someone that everyone's going to look at, especially in a post Carolyn

[01:18:06] world and be like, we're not going to take her to the end of the game.

[01:18:11] Everyone likes her too much.

[01:18:12] But if she is able to slip through, I think she has a fair cut, if you will, at winning

[01:18:18] the prize here.

[01:18:19] I don't disagree.

[01:18:20] All right.

[01:18:21] Mike, what else is coming up on parade.com with this survivor 46 extravaganza?

[01:18:27] Well, I'm holding up quite the fun house mirror for this fun house cast.

[01:18:32] I am also putting out interviews two at a time at parade.com, but for the sake of variance,

[01:18:38] I started with a different tribe.

[01:18:41] So at this time, you should have found out four of the members of the Nami tribe, I believe

[01:18:46] as we're talking about Janu right now, we'll meet in the middle with Siga coming up after

[01:18:51] this.

[01:18:52] I'll put those out to a day over at parade, of course, as well as some like random other

[01:18:57] stuff that Mike come about in the preseason.

[01:18:59] And you can follow everything I'm doing on social media and on my cameo at a Mike Bloom

[01:19:04] type.

[01:19:05] All right.

[01:19:06] Well, great job once again, looking forward to tomorrow when we talk about the last two

[01:19:11] members of this tribe, which you've been teasing.

[01:19:14] Yes.

[01:19:14] So we've got Q and Tiffany.

[01:19:17] And again, I will keep saying very fun interviews.

[01:19:21] And I'm excited, Rob, because now that you'll get a formal sketch out of the first six members

[01:19:26] of this cast, I think then we'll be able to do a bit of prognosticating as to, okay, if

[01:19:31] and when Janu goes to tribal council, what is that going to look like?

[01:19:34] Okay.

[01:19:35] Well, looking forward to that, make sure you don't miss anything we're doing.

[01:19:38] And go to Rob as a website.com slash subscribe to subscribe to Rob as a podcast to our survivor
