BB28 Why ___ Lost Week 7
Also available on YouTube.
It may seem obvious that Mallory was evicted from Big Brother 28 because she threw the HOH comp. But that move was just a symptom of her overall gameplay, or lack thereof. Mallory seems like a very nice person, but it seemed like she never lived up to her potential. She loves the game, but why didn’t she PLAY the game the way she should have? And how did that inevitably lead to her eviction? David Bloomberg and Chappell answer these questions and many more. Because at RHAP, we know Big Brother, and we know Why Mallory Lost.

[00:00:00] You played yourself and got voted out This is why blank lost This is why blank lost This is why blank lost
[00:00:21] Welcome back to Why Blank Lost. I'm David Bloomberg, and I am absolutely exhausted after an incredibly fun three days and nights of RHAPCon plus driving back from Milwaukee. But it was all definitely worth it. And I feel bad because although we had a bunch of podcasters there, my co-host L could not. No, I couldn't be there, sadly, but I'm so happy that you're back. I cannot wait to hear everything about RHAPcon from all the people. I've been seeing the pictures, everybody being tagged in.
[00:00:51] And I know a lot of people were very excited to see me, but also very excited to meet you. And so I'm really hoping that everybody got to come up with you and talk and, you know, talk about the game and talk about Big Brother and just be around a lot of people who are big fans of this show because, look, I complain about this show a lot. But after watching the thousandth episode, I really don't take for granted that this is a show that I've been watching my whole life and I really do enjoy it. Even when Big Brother is good, it's the best show on TV. When it's bad, it's just Big Brother.
[00:01:19] And we'll have something to say about that in a little while here. But yes, whether you were at RHAPcon or somewhere else, we all saw the outcome of Thursday's one thousandth episode. And no, not the part where production decided to celebrate that milestone by having the players not play Big Brother again, as we'll see Sunday. But before that, when they voted out Mallory, I have to admit from my own selfish point of view,
[00:01:45] this was the preferred outcome because it was going to be the easiest podcast to prepare for. It was the one that I had been writing in my head already before the flip happened when I was driving up there. I thought that I was talking to Taryn about this, too. You know, we thought it was set. Nothing was going to change. It was obviously going to be Mallory unless she won the blockbuster. And do-do-do-do-do, we get there.
[00:02:08] And all of a sudden, I find out from people, I think from Taryn, actually, or maybe shortly before from Taryn, oh, what's going on here? So, yes, you know, I'm sorry that I had to say this was my preference, but, you know, got to, you know, I didn't have the control over it. It was just my preference. But just because it's the easiest doesn't mean it's quite as straightforward as some people might think.
[00:02:35] Yes, there is one particular action that we will mention that led to this outcome. But we need to look behind that action to the motivation and overall gameplay, or lack thereof, leading up to it. We'll, of course, do that in our usual way by comparing how Mallory played to a set of guiding rules I originally wrote back in 2004 and have modified ever since. We'll analyze her actions using what we saw on TV, live feeds, interviews, and other information.
[00:03:02] And the most recent published version of the rules is available at robhaswebsite.com slash bigbrotherrules. But before we get to all of that, I do, again, want to mention RHAPCon, because it was incredible to be able to meet so many listeners and get to chat with you. And, you know, so thank you to everyone who said hello, talked about your enjoyment of this podcast. It really does mean a lot. I appreciate it.
[00:03:28] And, Chappelle, so many people talked about how great it's been to have you on here. They loved Ovi, too, but, you know, they're really having fun with you on here. We had a fun, informal, why blank lost meetup on Friday for those who could make it. And some of them had a message for you. We made you, Chappell! Oh, that is so cool. Oh, man, that got me blushing on this podcast.
[00:03:58] I'm too dark for that. Look, I never came in with the intention of filling Ovi's shoes because Ovi's good at what he does, right? He's played big brother. Look, I can never even pretend like I feel like I'm doing that. I just wanted to make sure that, you know, whatever I brought to the table was at least, you know, something that may be different, but that people still enjoyed. And so I'm very happy that people have been enjoying the coverage. I'm happy that you've been allowing me to come in a little bit unorthodox as I am and join in with the conversation.
[00:04:25] But I'm definitely very happy that people were thinking about me in my absence because I would love to be there with the YX Lost crew. But unfortunately, I wasn't. But I've definitely listened in on all the stories and looking for all the photos. And yeah, maybe next time. Yes, yes. Hopefully next time. So something else in Milwaukee that was a big topic were cheese curds. A lot of podcasters had no idea they'd never eaten at a Culver's before.
[00:04:52] Now, those are fried cheese curds that you get breaded cheese curds. But I needed to find the genuine article, the squeaks, as they're called. And that's because they literally squeak when you eat them, if they're fresh. And so Jenny Autumn and I stopped at the at the Mars Cheese Castle to pick up some real. Well, I picked up some real cheese curds.
[00:05:17] So, you know, Milwaukee people, you know, and Wisconsin people in general, we supported you there. And then look, it didn't squeak, David. So I don't know how how fresh it is. You took a big bite, but. Trust me, it's squeaking. Just don't put a chew into the mice. Perfect time to start taking the bites of cheese then, David. This is when you're supposed to talk. See, you know, look, well, I wasn't there.
[00:05:46] I don't have the same thing to share, but I am jealous. I am very jealous. I don't think I've ever had a cheese curds. You know, I like my fried cheese as much as the next person, like the mozzarella sticks and such. But no, I've been I've been hearing about the curds. I hear Milwaukee is beautiful this time of year as well. I saw pictures of this massive, massive ass lake that looked like the ocean from where I was sitting. And so, yeah, crazy. But I'm so happy that everybody had a good time and was able to enjoy Big Brother in a room full of people.
[00:06:15] And yeah, me and the people who couldn't make it. We were just holding down the fort, watching the feeds and really being able to listen in on all the fun stuff y'all had. Like I listened to Terrence live feed updates. That sounded really cool. And then I got to hear y'all on the podcast on the recaps. And so that was very cool as well. So, yeah, you got to do that again. It'll be nice.
[00:06:36] Yeah, it's not surprising to me that you haven't had cheese curds because my son who lives in Texas now, he's very disappointed by the fact that you don't know. He went to the state fair expecting cheese curds. He went to the rodeo expecting cheese curds. I think he eventually found some, but not, you know, not the same, not what he was expecting, having experienced it here in the Midwest. So, so, but yeah, I don't know.
[00:07:06] Texas is a cattle state. I don't understand why you don't have cheese curds. No clue. No clue. But I feel like I got the best souvenir with that video. That was pretty cool. Yes. Yes. All right. Well, aside from rehab con, I do have one other item to discuss about the week in general. And that would be Drew because Mallory said in interviews that he is in the worst position in the house and he probably is right now.
[00:07:32] But he saved himself this week after almost cooking himself first. He didn't say anything to defend himself in the group meeting that D had. He realized, oh, D wants me to be an attack dog. So he did at the nomination ceremony. Now he was still on the block, but he showed where he stood. He made D and Devin's happy, which of course made Yash, Taylor and Lala know they can't work with him.
[00:08:00] And if he hadn't won the blockbuster, well, you know, we'd be doing a completely different podcast right now. But. I don't know if he has Barrett and Melody anymore. He has the icons. That's about it. And we already know they consider him disposable. I don't have high hopes for Drew. I think if I'm not mistaken, my last week's prediction was that Drew was going to be out this week. I thought we were going to be talking about Drew, if I'm not mistaken.
[00:08:29] But he managed to avoid that. But just like I'm watching his game. He definitely has some things that he's good at. There's some things that he's not great at, but I won't start really judging him as a player until this week, because if he's not able to get Melody back. David, I just feel like she's begging to come back. Like, yes, she's upset. I saw, you know, like she's upset as she should be right. You know, she's been lied to the entire game, but. People are going to be mad and they go.
[00:08:58] And OK, I'll take it in the comments. Vinny Panero. He would have had her back in 15 minutes. He would have been crying and weeping and begging and pleading and we would have seen him come on back. We've seen people come back from stuff like this before. Dan Giesling. We've seen we saw him blindside Danielle Murphy vote out her her number one ally at the final three final four. Like we saw these things happen over and over and over again. And people are able to weasel their way back in it.
[00:09:25] So to me, Melody being back in Drew's pocket is the mark of whether or not he's got that dog in him. And that's really what I want to see this week. I want to see if he's able to do that, because, yeah, she's pushing him away and like she's very not ready to talk to him. Sure. But OK, who else does she really have? You know, is she going to go to be at the bottom of the other alliance? OK, I guess. Sure, that'll buy you a week or two. But if they're putting up Drew, guess who they're going to put next to him?
[00:09:52] You know, you you might end up sitting right there with them if they don't want to target all the icons, which we've seen them mistakenly not do before. So, yeah, I think that if he can't get Melody back in, then he's not the player that I think he thinks he is. And so, yeah, it's a rough week for him for sure. David, he looked like he was about to cry that entire episode, even after winning the blockbuster where he should be the happiest. When he when when he heard them all sigh at him voting out Mallory, you could see the reaction like as he heard it, like, oh, God, I effed up.
[00:10:21] It's like this is riveting television. But, man, I hate I hate for it to be me. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, at this point, I don't think it's possible for him to win. I mean, yeah. Who can he beat at the end? Who can he beat at the end? Maybe Thog. Oh, definitely Thog. I mean, can you imagine what a final two that would be? I don't know how you get there. How you get there. Oh, my God. Yeah. Yeah. I could see Lala still voting for maybe maybe I could see Lala and Taylor still voting for Drew over Thog.
[00:10:50] But but I say that now, but in three weeks, I don't know. Right. Angela probably would vote for Thog over Drew again right now. But again, in three weeks, I don't know. Devin was probably going to vote for Drew Barrett. Tried to get him out, you know, this week. And so maybe he's not a big fan of Drew. Maybe Melody by that point isn't at that point. So, yeah, I think for it to be a toss up between you and Thog, you have to have done something wrong. Yeah. Yes. But we won't be discussing that just yet. Well, you know, I'm sure we will at some point, but not just yet.
[00:11:22] Now, speaking of people who are wrong, I actually don't have anything for Julie Chen Moonfez is wrong about blank. But I do have a Big Brother production is wrong about blank. And I'm sure. Yes. I'm sure everyone can guess what the blank is, which is a terrible twist we will be seeing on Sunday. Now, Julie was still the messenger, but we know she didn't make the decision. Producers did. And they basically told fans, screw you. You hated the white locust twist.
[00:11:52] And we're going to do it again. Ha ha. Now, I'm sure we will have more to say about this after the elimination. And just so people know, we are we are not going to do a special white blank loss podcast for this elimination that's coming on Sunday. We will be just combining it in with the regular one for our usual Saturday podcast.
[00:12:17] Um, but the reason I want to talk about it now instead of waiting is I want to go on record because when Rachel was eliminated by the hamster wheel of death last season, Ovi and I talked about how terrible it was to completely throw away the entire framework of Big Brother, including not even having a vote. And some people said, oh, you're just mad because Rachel went home.
[00:12:45] And I was like, no, no, it's about the game. It doesn't matter who goes home. And and so I'm saying this now before we even know who is eliminated. This sucks. I don't care if we can fog leaves. I mean, I'd be happy to no longer on the show. I would still be mad at the twist. And, you know, like Terrence said something similar.
[00:13:10] And I think the Thursday recap, he was like, even though people are against the icons, I don't want to see an icon leave because I want them on the block to see the error of their ways. Yeah. Giving them the out to be able to say, well, I would have won if it wasn't for this. That's kind of crazy, right? Like we we kind of face some of that with the with the Kamu vote out because it felt like, oh, well, if it wasn't for the diamond power veto, Kamu wouldn't have lost the game. But there were other factors, other factors.
[00:13:39] We outlined them, I thought, pretty thoroughly here. They're like we talked about the positive things in Kamu's game. I was very complimentary to Kamu, but there were definitely things he did wrong socially that were glaring errors. You know, the tea party and all that other stuff were glaring errors. They did not make people they did not endear him to people. People did not want to work to him. He was being targeted because of his actions. A lot of times he was managing the weasel himself out of it. But at least we could say, OK, these are things that he did wrong that led to the diamond power veto being used to get him out.
[00:14:08] That said, if somebody just goes out in some random competition, then yeah, if it's Thog, if it's Angela, if it's Drew, if it's, you know, whoever it is, it doesn't matter. Because we can say that Drew did all this crazy stuff wrong leading up to this week that we were on where he almost went home. But if he goes out in a random competition, none of that matters. None of that is none of that has anything to do with it. We would be wasting our time to talk about the Drew scheme and plot enough. It doesn't matter what he lost was a ring toss competition, you know, or a joust, you know, or something.
[00:14:38] I don't know why I think it's going to be a joust, but it feels like, you know, medieval medieval there. Yeah. So like a joust story. I don't know what else they do, but you know what I'm saying? Like it would be a disservice to us to have to sit here and be like, he he did all this other stuff wrong. It's not really why he lost, but we just want to talk about it. And so, yeah, I would, we would still do it. I mean, in this case, we're combining them. We would still do it much like we did with Rachel, because we've done that with survivor medevacs. You know, why did they lose? Well, he got bitten by a snake. They got bitten by a snake. What are you going to do?
[00:15:06] Let's talk about his game up to that point anyway. So, yeah, we would still talk about it. We will, whoever it is. Now, we obviously don't know exactly what's going to happen. But normal big brother has an HOH nominations, a veto, and most importantly, votes. And yes, there are twists in there. The diamond power veto is a perfect one. But that basic format is supposed to remain as a framework. Yeah. But as far as we know, looking ahead, all of those are gone for this twist.
[00:15:34] All we, I mean, the language that Julie used, calling it, you know, people will have to use their social whatever, their social skills. It's the same excuse that they used when Rachel went out. So that puts me on high alert, the fact that she was using the exact same language.
[00:15:54] And so, you know, that plus shutting down live feeds for three days, reaction at Rehap Town was very loud, very angry. I will say, as we are recording this, we had a surprise and feeds are back. Yeah. So now, obviously, I mean, literally it happened like, I don't know, a couple of minutes before we started to record this, I think.
[00:16:21] So, you know, nothing that nothing that happens on there will influence at all this podcast. But just like it doesn't normally when feeds are on. So that was a little surprising that they did that. Maybe they maybe they heard the loud and angry chorus from RehapCon and elsewhere. I wouldn't be shocked because people were not not happy because how do you follow up your thousandth episode with taking away the very thing that we're here celebrating?
[00:16:50] Big Brother is a thousand episodes long. But imagine how much time we've invested in watching the show outside of those episodes with the live feeds being a factor since season one. You know, a thousand episodes pales in comparison to like what? Roughly probably a million hours that we've spent consuming Big Brother content. You know, like a thousand episodes is nothing in comparison to how much time we spend on the live feeds or listening to updates about the live feed, scrolling the timeline, looking at live feeds.
[00:17:17] Like a thousand episodes is not enough to, you know, to really just like encapsulate what Big Brother is all about. But the live feeds is where it starts. And so, yeah, them taking it away at that point is just crazy. And I know you said like production was wrong for that. And they and they definitely are. But Julie be wrong, too. You know, I think in the in a thousand episodes, she she said this was Taylor's first blockbuster and it wasn't. And then also, yeah, you know, and then also I think I think Kylan is now the runner up of Big Brother 23, which is also something that Julie made up.
[00:17:47] Yeah. Which is which she made up. And so, you know, like so, you know, Julie has her flaws. But the biggest one is trying to convince us that these competitions that end in instant doom for people is a part of the game. It maybe it's going to be right. Maybe in the future we're going to have to start factoring those things in. But and I guess if you do it two or three times in a row, it's a pattern at some point. But right now it just feels like a little something extra that y'all are just doing that. It's kind of outside of the norms that we're used to. Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
[00:18:18] All right. With that, we can move in to to actually talking about Mallory. It may seem obvious that Mallory was evicted because she threw the H.O.H. Challenge competition. But that move was really just a symptom of her overall gameplay or, like I said earlier, lack thereof. Mallory seems like a very nice person. I really liked her in the house. But it also seems like she never lived up to her potential.
[00:18:48] I know she loves the game. But why didn't she play the game the way she should have? And how did that inevitably lead to her eviction? At RJP, we know Big Brother and we know why Mallory lost. Now, the first and most important rule is, of course, to scheme and plot. And I think Mallory knew that. But as people will see me mention in the special podcast I recorded with Mike Bloom at RehapCon, which we'll discuss a little later, Albert Einstein once said,
[00:19:18] In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is. And Mallory's scheming skills were just only good in theory. And they were not as good as her pipe skills. Almost two weeks into the game, Mallory commented that she didn't think alliances had formed yet. On the July 22nd show, we saw her ask Barrett, do you think you're going to start working with them? Them being the icons. Of course, we knew he'd been working with them since there was a them to work with.
[00:19:48] She was not seeing what was in front of her face. She was scheming and plotting with the same three people the entire game. And two of those people were double agents. So when it came down to who she could actually trust through her to scheme and plot with, it was just Melody. You know, she at some points it was Barrett and Drew, but they were running information back to all these other sides of people where these two people were just so insular.
[00:20:15] The conversation they were having, everything was just like the two of them were attached to the hip to the point where they even get a punish where they're tied together. And nothing changed. Nothing changed. You got a punish where you're tethered to somebody and all your alliances stayed the same. All your conversations were the same. Because y'all were a tag team the entire time. You never made any inroads with anybody else. Why are you scheming and plotting with the same two or three people? There's 16 people in the house. You know, more than that with the icons.
[00:20:42] So for you to be there for weeks and not realize that people are playing other alliances, it means that you just don't have your foot on the gas, right? Like you don't have your head in the game. Socially, she seems great. But a social game is not enough in Big Brother these days. You have to be able to make alliances and connections with other people strategically. And it just didn't seem like she was willing to do that. Right. Yeah.
[00:21:06] And, you know, that difference between theory and practice continued all the way up until her eviction. Because in part due to the fact that she wasn't scheming with them, she knew in theory to be suspicious of the icons. She said so. In theory, she said she wanted to win power and go after them. In practice, she had the opportunity and threw it away.
[00:21:32] Now, Mallory said in her Entertainment Weekly interview that she'd been hiding the mosh pit alliance from Yash and Taylor. Quote, so I had a feeling that if I won HOH, I wouldn't have it in my heart to put up Yash and Taylor. So I would have just put up the mosh pit. I'd run that by Barrett, who said that would be a terrible idea. That would be a disaster, that everyone would blow everything up. So going into the competition, I was like, if this is a competition I could win, then that's a sign I should win it.
[00:22:02] So I went in trying and I was doing well. And then at the end, I saw that I was actually close to winning it. And I choked a little because I didn't know what I would do. Now, she also claimed to tear him that she didn't throw it. She choked because she didn't know who she would nominate. I'm sorry, Mallory. We're not buying it. No, this is revisionist history. You already said you threw it.
[00:22:32] You talked about watching a TikTok video by a former player who said never throw a comp because you don't know when you're actually safe. And you added that if you were to go home this week, you will never forget that you're the reason you went home because you could have won and didn't. It is too late now to try to claim you didn't throw it. Yeah, those are your words. You know what I'm saying? Like what you get out of the house and you now you you calm down. Right. Cooler heads have prevailed. You're out of the house.
[00:23:01] It's probably like a lot to process. And immediately when you come out the house, Julie's like, so why did you throw the challenge? You know, so so the same this is the same person we just saw having one of the most human moments I've seen on Big Brother in a long time. Just a guttural scream of just like the the idea that she betrayed her own trust. Right. She it's this feeling that I knew exactly what I should have did. I didn't do it. And now I can't be mad at anybody but myself.
[00:23:30] Yes, I would love to take my anger out on all these other people. The survivors are the worst people in the world. I hate me. I hate all these other people. But you're really just mad at you. You're mad at you because you knew what you needed to do. And so in order to displace that, you've come out and now there's this new story that like, well, I didn't throw it per se. I just slowed down when I thought I was going to win it because I didn't really want to win it. So you agree. You threw it right. Like if you didn't, if you thought you were going to win something and then you actively slow down so you didn't win it.
[00:23:59] That means you did not want to win it anymore. You changed your mind. And if you felt like you were good with Lala and Yash. Who else were you questioning in the house, Mallory? You were, I watched you on the feed and on the show talking about, hey, is this, is this a new Moshpins Alliance just something that the vets are throwing at us to get them through the week? You and Melody talked about it. So if you felt so good with Lala and Yash, why didn't you just win and say, okay, who's the highest bidder?
[00:24:28] I got to pick a side at some point. Let's come to me. Let's see what happens here. You know, we definitely saw moments where she has expressed her displeasure with D. D had no issue putting up Mallory. And if I was Mallory, I would have never let that go. I would have still been targeting D, you know, just because once this person put you up, what's stopping them from putting them up again? And here you go back up on the block again. And so, yeah, you can try to convince us, but it sounds like you're trying to convince yourself.
[00:24:57] Yeah, I mean, I don't understand it. And this is where things get complicated because, you know, people were asking me afterwards, well, it's because she threw, right? You know, that's it's like, yes, but we have to look at the reasons that she threw and everything else behind that. Because, yeah, she, okay, like you said, you don't want to nominate Yash and Taylor. Good. Then do what you have been talking about doing. Again, this is where the difference between theory and practice come in.
[00:25:26] It is easy in theory to say you want someone gone. She has been saying it. But suddenly you have the opportunity and, oh, well, maybe it's more complicated than that. The thing that gets me, she should have thought this through ahead of time. She's an engineer. This is why I'm wearing, you know, the Christian Hubicki robot shirt here. She's a rocket scientist. She should be used to thinking ahead about possible problems and how to solve them.
[00:25:53] That is literally what engineering is. In this case, her solution was to not solve anything and hope for the best. And there's a reason we say hope is not a strategy. Right. She thought about the things. We heard her vocalize those things. We saw her have those realizations. We watched Angela slip up and say that the icons have been working with Drew and Barrett the entire time.
[00:26:21] So why are you so surprised that this is happening again? You know what? What exactly is happening here? Why is that a shock to you? You heard Angela say it just like we heard Angela tell y'all. And then we saw y'all talk about it in the diary room. How, you know, I don't think Angela was supposed to say that, you know. So for me, yeah, she got I think she got complacent. I think that she is a very social player. I think that when she was in her little bubble with the with the FAPS, I think that's her home. That's that's where she's most comfortable.
[00:26:49] And I think that she was forced to go outside that bubble, you know, for strategy reasons. But there were definitely nights where we saw her utilizing her social skills to like to really ingratiate herself with the group. You know, she's always driving the fake lake plane and the fake bus and all this other stuff. And they seem to really like it. But the problem is she was like using her social game on them. But a social game kind of helped made her take her guard down. She started thinking, oh, these are my real life friends. I don't want to be the one to take one of them out.
[00:27:15] I can't possibly be the one to put you on the block when these people would put you on the block in a heartbeat. And so, yeah, her heartbeat. And here she is on the block. And she should have just taken the reins and when she had a chance and bet on herself instead of them. Yeah. Yeah. And it's funny because either she or Melody, I can't remember which, said in the diary room, D is a coward. And they were both mad. They both said it.
[00:27:40] But I mean, the rest of it was that D, they called her a coward. But one of them explained the reason behind it was that D didn't want to get blood on her hands. So she nominated Mallory. But that's the same reason Mallory didn't want to win HOH. So if you're calling her a coward, do you see the reflection there? You're surrounded by mirrors. Look at one of them. Not to mention that what they said about D was 100% wrong.
[00:28:10] I know that was the excuse D used. But come on, you could not see that was an excuse. D was getting blood on her hands. Mallory, oh, I have clean hands as I walk out the door. Yeah, she's again, I think she's trying to convince herself. There's no way. There's no way that you really bought that D didn't want to get more blood on her hands. So she's putting you back up. We I've said this before with the blockbuster. There are no pawns that three people went up three.
[00:28:37] And then there has to be a fourth if a veto is one. So you're not a pawn. If someone puts you on the block, that means you're one of the top three or four people that they are OK with losing. Like, do I have to explain pawn again? You know, like it's like I don't want to get more blood on my hands. I'm putting you up, but you're not going home. Yeah, but you're putting me in harm's way. And that should be enough for me not to trust you. And so I get it. By that point, it's too late. She's probably going home. But she when she's on the block and she's crying to us in the diary room or whatever I feel for her.
[00:29:07] But at the same time, like there's no way you could possibly believe that that's D's. You know what D is telling you is true at this point. Right. Like because her actions are not matching her words. Yeah. Like, oh, I don't want to get more blood on my hand. So I'm going to get the blood of one of my allies on my hand. Sounds like you're not much of an ally. So this was tough to watch because you could tell she's a big fan and very passionate about the game. But she let the game get away from her a long time ago. Yeah.
[00:29:31] And that's the thing, you know, even leading up to the nomination, even afterwards, she I mean, you talked about earlier how she stayed in her bubble. But even when you're nominated or you know you're about to be nominated campaign and she barely did it. BB screenshots on Blue Sky mentioned she lobbied harder to get more almond milk for the house than she did to stay off the block.
[00:29:54] You know, and and, you know, yeah, you can say, OK, talking to D, it's unlikely that would have changed things, but it can't hurt. And she could have been talking to others who might have talked to D on her behalf. But no, she didn't do that. Then after she was nominated, there was, of course, the push to keep her over Drew. And we think it would have succeeded if Drew hadn't won Blockbuster. But she wasn't even the instigator of that. It was mostly Barrett. And.
[00:30:22] So and again, since she wasn't doing anything there, it didn't help her when Drew did win Blockbuster. So Mike Bloom asked her about her campaigning and she said, I don't know for sure if anything could have been different, but it really did feel like it was out of my hands. Even when D told me she was considering me for the renom, I was like, they're going to realize they're burning this bridge and I'm going to be mad.
[00:30:46] And I was. So it was really hard to try and convince them otherwise, because it just didn't make logical sense that I would be like, no, it's fine. I want to keep working with you guys. And that was like all I kind of all I could say. So she says it wouldn't have made sense. Drew has done that exact thing at least twice after being nominated by his own supposed allies. And it has worked.
[00:31:11] And then we're just talking about things that she's done recently, but I mean, you could go back to when Lyric was voted out. Valerie, that should have been your wake up call right then. You know, Lyric was running around the house trying to find anybody who would take her in. Anybody. She was just looking for safety. She didn't care who she got it from. She was, you know, and that is your ally. You lost your ally that week. And these are the same people that you're letting sell you a dream. The people who got Lyric out, the people who got Rome out.
[00:31:38] These are the people where you're letting dictate this for you. I remember I'll never let it go. That when Lala won the wall competition, Mallory said, I watched her and Melody in the storage room right after. She said, yeah. Oh, yeah. If Lala doesn't flip the house, then F her. Because, you know, we need to shift the power. OK. OK. So what are you going to do when it's your time to flip the power? Oh, no, I don't want to get blood on my hands. But Lala has to. You could have won something. You could have done something.
[00:32:08] And so this is not like, oh, this week, all of a sudden, she just wasn't doing what needed to be done. She's been laying the groundwork for this inactive gameplay for a long time. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. All right. We could go on to the second rule, which says not to scheme and plot too much and to keep your scheming secret. Then, OK. The first part we just discussed. There was no scheming and plotting too much. Keeping your scheming secret. That's another matter. Because very early on, she got into an obvious group of three that you just mentioned, Lyric and Melody.
[00:32:38] And she's been also, as you mentioned, tied to Melody almost the entire game, quite literally for some of that time. And of course, she and Melody were known to be tight with Drew and Barrett as well. Then she started showing more friendship with Yash and Taylor, which obviously wasn't what the icons wanted to see. But that was part of the problem. Mallory showed far too much of her game, such as, I mean, you said it earlier.
[00:33:07] She was so obviously together in that group of four with FAP. She was so obviously potentially shifting over to Yash and Taylor. And she talked about wanting to target the icons, D in particular. It wasn't just to Drew. So, you know, if she had only talked to Drew and Drew ratted her out, we could say, well, that was a Drew issue. She just didn't see it.
[00:33:34] She even told someone like Kamu that she would be targeting the survivor players. We saw that in July 26th episode. All of this obvious information together was a big part of what led her to be targeted at that time. With Dee saying that the day prior or the day prior that she was one of Barrett's pieces and wanted to take her away from him. A couple days after on live feeds, Devin said targeting her would be a true test of where Barrett and Drew stood.
[00:34:04] All of the information she had shared over that time came together to cause them to want her gone previously, not even this time. Again, she wants the icons to be trustworthy, even though she has not been trustworthy for the icons throughout the game. There were weeks where her and Dee didn't have a working relationship at all. We all knew where Mallory stood. And honestly, I didn't even have an issue with that in the moment because I thought, well, Mallory, you know what to do. You're going to win HOH.
[00:34:31] You're going to put up your obvious target in Dee and then you will target Dee. Now, whoever you put up besides Dee, you'll figure that out. But you know Dee is going on the block. We all knew it. So for weeks to go by and you to get blindsided here, for you to get told last this, for you to get blindsided there and then still think, well, I think we're working together now, right? That's on you. That's on you. Because those people should know they can't trust you. There were definitely weeks where they actively knew. Oh, yeah. Like Devin's. He knew.
[00:35:01] Mallory's not messing with me. He doesn't like she doesn't. She's not she's not feeling it. Dee knew for sure that no matter what, you know, she could always go back to Bear to be like, well, you know, Mallory's still going to come after me. You know, recently in these last two weeks or so, you know, Angela has been connecting with her more. Even Devin's has been connecting with her more. But her and Dee still they've never had a working relationship in the game where Dee did not think that, OK, if given the opportunity, Mallory will flip on her. So Dee had no reason to not put Mallory up.
[00:35:30] Even if Dee went around the house and said, who has all said my name? A lot of people have. But she's heard Mallory, you know, from so many other people throughout the entire month that the game has been going on that Mallory has been after. So, yeah, her scheming and plotting wasn't secret. And I honestly wouldn't have an issue with that if you were going to do something about it. If you have a public enemy, fine, but at least target them. You had the opportunity to target them and decided you wanted to keep your hands clean. Now, that means that you should have probably kept your scheming and plotting secret.
[00:36:00] Yeah. And Mike Bloom even asked her why you were so why she was so upfront about it. And she said it just kind of seemed like that was the side of the house that I was on. That was kind of the goal to go after them. And I wanted people to think that I was going to do that, too. I wanted people to think I'm a good competitor that's going to go after these three people. But if they stay in the house, they're just going to steamroll and win. So I kind of hope that would make people want to keep me more.
[00:36:26] So she said it because she was on the side against Dee, but then expected to be able to work with Dee in the mosh pit. Make it make sense, Chappelle. Make it make sense to me. I can't because even if she says the side of the house I was on, I felt like they were all, you know, we're all thinking the same thing. We need to target these people. Yeah. But then you notice that the more savvy people on your side did not allow them to know that you were going to target them.
[00:36:57] But yeah, we can talk about Lala. Day one, Lala said, oh, we're obviously getting Angela out. Well, that's not smart. You know that. Why would you say that? Whereas if Drew and Barrett have any intention of taking them out, they don't know it. And so that's why they're going to be able to move through this game, getting passed up by things like this, because it's beneficial for them to not know. If you're going to be stealth or target them, at least be secretive about it or, you know, be more stealthy about it. Like for you to say, like, well, this side of the house, I wanted them to know. Yeah, they could know.
[00:37:27] But why do the icons need to know? I'm not telling you to go tell all these people that. That could be a general feel that, yeah, eventually we're going to get the icons. But you announcing it and being the poster child for that kind of stuff is only going to hurt you when those people get into power. And then you had the opportunity to make sure that didn't happen and you decided not to. So for me, David, I'm having an issue with like carrying both things at the same time. It's like, I want to play. I want to target them, but I also want to play the middle.
[00:37:56] It's like you can't have both of them. You have to target them or play the middle. And for you saying I'm a target them and then trying to play the middle, it's counterintuitive to what your goal actually is. Yeah, either she was confused or confusing. I'm not sure which. She and Melody had been in a good position with FAP and the mosh pit, along with the potential ability to swing over to Yash and Taylor and Lala. But they repeatedly wavered.
[00:38:24] They had such a hard time making a decision about Kamu after they had been solidly anti-Kamu. And then even worse, everybody knew. Again, you're not keeping it secret. And they also knew a big reason Mallory almost flipped was so Kamu could go after the icons. But then when she had the opportunity to do exactly that, she gave the HOH to the icons instead.
[00:38:55] Yes, you got to you got to put up or shut up. I think I said that last week. I think that was my words there. Like, hey, I'm tired of hearing about it. Either either do something or stop talking about it every week. It's, oh, well, when I get in power, I'm going to target the icons or we're going to get them. We heard that so much. I have the same criticism for Lala. You had the every opportunity in the world to put all three of the icons up. You did not. And now one of your allies is gone.
[00:39:22] And so for Mallory to sit here and tell us every week in the diary room that these are my targets to sit around in a group and talk about your targets with all the people in the group. And then you have the moment to take the shot at said targets. You chickened out because you didn't want to get blood on your hands. But why not? Get some blood on your hands. It's big brother. Don't be afraid to play. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, the third rule talks about the need to be flexible.
[00:39:51] How do you think Mallory did here? Not great. Not great. I just again, I just feel like she found her comfort zone in the house. Look at the people who I will say are more flexible, right? Like let's even talk about like what we said about Kamu. I was very impressed with his flexibility. Lyric as well. Maybe too flexible for Lyric. But you would never accuse them of only hanging out with some one group of people. My Lyric was like she got caught basically just hanging out with everybody. Drew has been very flexible.
[00:40:21] He's been all around that house. He'll work with whoever. It don't matter. You know, and that might catch up with him one day. But you cannot accuse Mallory of that at all. Mallory was with Melody when she won that punishment. Nobody was. No one was shocked that she picked Melody to lock herself to. And I thought that was crazy. I remember Terrence saying he didn't think it was that big of a strategic error.
[00:40:45] But I remember thinking it might not be an error, but there has to be a way you can maximize your win here. Like you have now tied yourself to somebody you were already going to be tied to. That's not going to get you in any more rooms. That's not going to get you into any different conversations. If they've been lying to her, they've been lying to you. They're not going to start now that y'all are tied together. They're not going to start telling you the truth. And so I felt like even that was something that no one was shocked by. Like you didn't take that opportunity to go out and make any new connections because you found FAP.
[00:41:14] Those were your besties. You hung out every day. Every alliance you're in, it consists of those four people. You know, we've seen Barrett and alliances that got FAP in it. We've seen alliances that don't have FAP in it. We have alliances with the red corner in it. We don't have alliances with the red corner in it. There's an alliance with Drew and Devin. There's an alliance with Dee. Mallory doesn't have any of that. You know, every alliance she's in, Melody is in it with her. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, everything you said.
[00:41:40] Plus, I mean, we talked about her wavering back and forth and someone might think, well, that was, you know, trying to be flexible, figure out the best way. No, no. You actually have to have options and use them, not just talk about using them. Mallory did give herself like two ways to go. Not nearly as many as she should have, like you said. But then she kept being afraid to actually implement them and came back to the FAP.
[00:42:10] You know, and I mean, I still agree with her decision to evict Kamu. As we talked about, there were lots of good reasons to do so. But she had the right idea about targeting the icons. Of course, we've already said this. When the time came to actually do it, she bailed. You can't repeatedly talk about taking an action and then just not do it. That is not flexibility.
[00:42:39] Yeah, you got to make the move. You know, like what is she waiting on? She's waiting on Yash and Taylor and Lala to take all the shots. And then she can just say, oh, well, y'all got them. Y'all did it already. It's like, well, eventually the other side is going to win. And if you're not going to be the one winning, then who do you expect to make these moves for you? You know, and so it just wasn't great. You know, I guess I think there was the like you said, the idea, the theory of flexibility in her mind.
[00:43:07] But when it came down to it, she just got I mean, she's in that house. You don't know everybody. You find the people you mesh with. You get in your little bubble. You talk shit. And I think that's what she was really good at. You get in the room with Mallory. She could she could talk shit with you the best. I think Davon was also very good at that. That was one of her things. Like you come in the room with Davon, she can point blank and period you all day. Y'all like, oh, yeah, we're friends. We got this, you know, and I think Mallory was really good at that. She's really good at bringing people in on that kind of stuff. But that was the stuff that got her in trouble.
[00:43:35] And then so like if you're talking to such a big game and you're making yourself out to be such a threat, which I'm sure we'll talk about just shortly. Be threatening. If you're going to make yourself, if you're going to make everybody think you're a threat, at least be willing to pull the trigger. Right. Right. The car is gone. Of course, the car is gone. You're on the behinder-back. You're parked. Nach einem Juwelenraum. Was ist jetzt der Plan?
[00:43:59] Verstecken sich Alex und sein Vater bei einer Gruppe junger Erwachsener mit Beeinträchtigung, die gerade in den Urlaub aufbrechen. Was geht? Alright, well, the fourth rule tells players that they should not let their emotions control them.
[00:44:28] In the first rule, I quoted Mallory talking about how she was obviously going to be mad when she was nominated. They knew it and she knew they knew it. And then she did it anyway. This is exactly where pretending to be nice and controlling your emotions are supposed to come into play. It is fine to let it out in the diary room, though perhaps not quite as loudly as Mallory did so the whole house could hear her through the walls. But that's where it should have stayed.
[00:44:58] Act as if you're not so mad that you will seek revenge. Pretend that you totally understand and you still want to work with them. I mentioned it works for Drew twice now. Okay, I'm not sure he was pretending the first time we talked about that. He was just kind of clueless. But still, it's the same outcome. Acting like you're not mad. And it had the same result for him. Give it a shot. She can't. She can't help herself. This is not one of her strengths, right?
[00:45:27] When she immediately is upset with D when she gets put on the block the first time, that's where she really kind of secludes herself into that fap. You know, it wasn't fap at the time, but into that Melody Drew Barrett kind of group. You know, these are people lyric as well. Like, I'm going to lay in here. I'm going to pout and complain. And these are my friends. I'm going to hang out with them. I don't want to hang out with the survivors. They're the worst people ever. We get that. But the survivors should not think that you feel that way.
[00:45:50] You know, again, we talked about Kamu's game to, you know, in full detail, right? But one of the things he was good at is when you burned him, he was willing to play the game. Like, hey, no, it's no hard feelings. What do we want to do? How do we work together moving forward? This, that, and the other. For Mallory, it didn't feel like that. It felt like, okay, she went and screamed in the closet. Like, her and Melody, all that hollering they were doing the last week. I mean, emotions just out of control, right?
[00:46:20] If there's any question of like, oh, wait, are you sure we should target Mallory this week? Don't you think she'll ever get over it? I don't know. Do you really like Drew? Maybe we should just vote out Taylor. No, we should vote out the person yelling like a banshee every time, you know, you leave the room, you know, or like you can hear them. I think right after the feeds came back on, right after the episode went off on Thursday, one of the first things I saw Angela say was, did you hear Melody screaming in the background?
[00:46:49] I was like, why do they hear you screaming in the background? Act like you got some sense. You know, at least pretend like you got some sense. I don't care what you do in a diary room as long as everybody else don't know. Yeah. Yeah. Mallory told Entertainment Weekly that she thought coming in, she would play it knowing it's a game and there could only be one winner. But once she was there, she couldn't do it. Quote, it's really hard because it is my dream to be there.
[00:47:15] And then when it feels like someone is trying to basically crush my dream, it's hard to not be very angry and upset and sad. It just feels like life or death in there. I was surprised by the fact that I didn't have it more under wraps like I thought it was or like I thought I would. Again, the difference between theory and practice. Yes. I mean, you don't just have to understand the rules that we discuss here. You have to put them into action. Okay.
[00:47:44] And if you know it's going to be hard to control your emotions, you got to work that much harder. You have to tell yourself, no, I know here that I need to be not screaming. I need to pretend here for the sake of my game. This is your dream. If you don't want it crushed, don't help them crush it. Yeah. I know this would be a rule I struggle with because I am very much a happy person. I am always, I'm very cheerful. David, you've known me for a long time.
[00:48:11] You rarely see me like in a mood that's not, I'm like, I'm grinning all the time. That's just who I am. Because when I'm not, it's so apparent. You can tell from a mile away that he's not feeling it. You know, like this would be something that I knew that I would be bad at. So if I were to come in the Big Brother game, it would be something I knew I needed to concentrate on. I'm not saying I could concentrate on it. Right. I've been me my whole life. I know that's something that I would struggle with. I think that that's something that she didn't think that she would have to really manage because no one,
[00:48:40] when they think about playing Big Brother, think about themselves being the ones being blindsided, being the ones being betrayed, being the ones being lied to. So it's easy to come in and think like, yeah, I'll control my emotions from a place of leadership. You know what I'm saying? Like from a place of like the front runner spot. Yeah, I'll control my emotions. I won't let these people make me mad. I'm going to make really measured decisions and, you know, make sure I put the right people on the block and all this other stuff. You don't think, oh, but how am I going to act when I'm put on the block? Not once, but twice. When I'm blindsided, not once, but twice when my best friend is going to vote me out.
[00:49:10] One of the best, my best friends in house is going to vote me out. And I find out about it. How am I going to react then? You know, those are the parts of keeping your emotions in check that I don't think she prepared for. And I don't think she could have prepared for. I don't think she just saw that as a realistic possibility for her. Yeah. Yeah. This is one of the times that I'm glad I don't do impersonations like Taryn. And I don't want to blow out my vocal cords any more than, you know, I have already by, you know, talking for three days straight to people.
[00:49:39] So, but yeah, he was a little rough after screaming that many times to imitate them. So, yeah, we won't be screaming like that on this. I clipped it though, David. I clipped that so fast. I was like, I need that. Because again, I like the human moment. I wasn't the biggest Mallory fan, but I do appreciate the real moment. Right. Because I felt like everything else before that was bluster. I felt like she was just talking. I feel like everything was like, I'm saying what I'm supposed to say. I'm saying what y'all want to hear.
[00:50:08] I'm saying what I think I want to do. But then this was the one time where I saw her in the diary room and it was like, I'm saying what I really feel. You know, in this moment, I hate them. I hate them so much. And it felt, it felt like lived in. It didn't feel like, like why I ought to do something. It felt like, no, like I, I hate you actively. And I don't know, like to me, that kind of stuff really does endear characters to me sometimes. Yeah. Yeah. All right.
[00:50:37] Well, we could go to the fifth rule, which says players need to pretend to be nice and play the social game. Now, we just talked about her not doing a good job of pretending. But with that said, you already started talking about her social game. So now that we're here, how do you want to wrap that into this rule? When she wanted to be nice and like when she wanted to be social, she could. They really did gravitate to Mallory in the house. You know, like you said, she seems lovely. She seems like a very nice person. She can talk trash with you.
[00:51:05] She can play the games with you. She was driving the fake bus. They're all having a good time. Mallory nights were fun to watch on the feeds because you knew the house was going to get involved in it. And they were really going to enjoy it. They're willing to make a less than optimal move in a lot of cases if Mallory had not just made herself such a like such a target by saying, like, yeah, I'm definitely going to target these people. But socially, she was able to almost get to let their guard down in a lot of ways.
[00:51:35] Like D should have never stopped wanting Mallory out. But there were definitely moments where even with a little bit of the relationship that they had and it wasn't much where you could see D be like, I don't know. I think Mallory's fine, you know. And so I give her credit for that. But again, you're you you like you turn those moments on. And then when you turn them off, it's very clear who you're working with. It's very clear who you really align with. It's very clear who your friends are. That is why I know that Barrett. OK, he's probably not going to want to vote out Mallory. When Barrett goes and tells him, I'm not voting on Mallory. They know.
[00:52:05] They're like, OK, yeah, we knew that. We knew we knew that. Nobody was confused about why Barrett wouldn't do that. They might not like it, but they also weren't confused. They knew, OK, that's exactly what it was, because it was so obvious who her real friends were and who they weren't. Right. Right. Yeah. I would say if we had to pick one player this season who is the most well-liked by the other house guests, aside from Thog, it would be Mallory. Thog is bubbly, you know, so that's you can't teach that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:52:34] I don't think any of them had a bad word to say about Mallory in that regard. It was, you know, like you mentioned, we love her, but we need to vote her out. And, you know, she was right. The audience does, too. You know, she even said before she walked out the door, listen to the applause I'm about to get. And she had no idea it was filled with, you know, all the stars, previous stars on top of that applause. And they're chanting pipe queen at her, you know.
[00:53:04] But. She didn't make use of that social positioning. Like you were saying. Even when she had someone on her side, she had Angela on her side early on. But Angela was still willing to vote her out at that point because she was much more easily convinced by D and Devens. She needed to work that Angela connection harder. She needed to spend time with, like you just said, D and Devens.
[00:53:32] And I know last week we talked about, oh, D didn't spend much, if any time, with Mallory and Melody after forming the mosh pit. But on the flip side, Mallory and Melody didn't go out of their way to seek out time to spend with D either. So they handed D the HOH. They were relying purely on this handshake deal, not actual personal relationships. Yeah. You know, there's alliances are two way streets.
[00:53:59] You know, she's her for her to say, like, oh, these are the worst allies ever. OK, well, how good of an ally are you, Mallory? You know, if we're the mother. Let her have HOH. Yeah. Right. But you let her have HOH so that you didn't have to do something. Right. Right. But then I see you and Melody being like, they're the worst allies. Like, well, you're not a great ally either. You know, it's not like you form the mosh pit and then went upstairs and be like, OK, D in the mosh pit. What if me and you and Melody go to the final three? You know, what if we try something like that?
[00:54:29] I don't think I ever heard that conversation happen. But you would think it would be so obvious to happen. Like, hey, let's get down to the final three. Chances are you could beat Melody in the final three competition or whatever. I could probably beat her. Like, let's say you even want to take her. That's cool. But I think the three of us would be more covert because, look, we have to have each other's back because Devin's and Barrett and Drew, they're probably going to gravitate to each other. So maybe me, you, Angela and Melody.
[00:54:55] Melody, now we're a new alliance and we're going to take them out and let's go get Lala and Taylor. I know we don't like them, but that's a number that we can use against, you know what I'm saying? Like, even if you don't plan on doing it, at least pretend to do it so that D says, damn, they are right. We have the mosh pit and we did have that final three, you know what I'm saying? Or we did have that final four. There's so many alliance, fake, fake alliances in this house this season.
[00:55:21] And I think, I think Mallory's in three and it's like, and three and all three of them are included, include Melody. And I think Barrett, you know, so it's kind of just like, you're not really giving yourself an opportunity to make any moves when everybody so obviously knows where you stand throughout the entire game. Yeah.
[00:55:43] And the other thing is she actually, by not going to talk to D or Devin's or whoever, she removed the social component of her game. Because one thing that she complained about once she was nominated and everything was Barrett and Drew assured us that we were good. Well, why are you relying on third hand information? You're saying they assured us we're good.
[00:56:11] Why don't you talk directly to the people and let them assure you? Now, yes, I do know at one point she also did talk to D and we'll get to that in a couple of rules here. But she and D said, yes, you're definitely in. You're definitely in. Follow that up. Don't just rely on someone else. Don't let someone else play middleman for your alliance. Your allies now go talk to them. Yeah. No, you rather scream about them in the diary room after the fact.
[00:56:42] All right. Well, the sixth rule says not to be too much of a threat. If you're known as pipe queen, both inside the house and outside the house because of one win, that suggests people believe you can rock the comps. And yes, she was talked about as a comp piece after winning one. But that shows how much of an impression that it made. And it branded her as a threat.
[00:57:09] We've talked about this issue many times, both on this and the survivor version of this podcast. Perception is reality. She was perceived as a potential problem if people had to face her in comps, especially when it came to a decision between her and Taylor. But my issue isn't that she won the comp, right? That's to me. That's not enough. My issue is that you won the comp. You have this bravado about yourself.
[00:57:38] But, you know, whether it's earned or not, you won that competition. People are calling you the pipe queen. They call you pipe queen. And that is highlighting that you won that competition. And there is a nickname that followed you or I don't know at the house. And that's cool. My issue is that when you have that bravado, you then try to act like you don't have it. Like you play in the middle, but having people in the house knowing that you're a threat. It's like that's those two things don't align. Right. Like you're like, I'm a threat, but I'm not targeting anybody.
[00:58:08] It's like, yes, you are. You're very clear on who you're targeting. They all know who you're targeting. So you might not be a threat to Barrett. You might not be a threat to Drew currently because you're not going to target them. You're definitely not a threat to Melody. But if I'm D, you win in that first competition. And then also telling people for weeks that you would target me means you're inherently a threat to me. So when it's time for people to win HOH and the other option is, I don't know, D.
[00:58:38] Who do you think D is going to think is the biggest threat? The person who's been saying for weeks that I would target you? Probably. Right. And so I was like, that's the person you need to keep your threat level down to is the people that you're actually going to target. Yeah. Yeah. And of course, there was another way she was seen as a threat because of her relationships with the people you mentioned, Melody Barrett and Drew. And, you know, this week, Devin said, I want to break up the two women and the FAP overall.
[00:59:06] And she was preferable as the one to go because of her physical threat and her social threat ability. She had all these things stacked up against her. Like you said, she should have known that she had all these things stacked up against her, but she acted as if she didn't. Nope. She she wanted to like have the have the bravado of the threat, but not actually do threatening things.
[00:59:33] You know, it was she's like, I want to threaten people, but I don't want to take it, make any actual moves, you know? So stop waving your fist at people, you know, throw a punch, you know? And I think for her, it was so much fist waving that they could not overlook it. They're like, OK, Mallory saying she's good with us, but we heard nothing but she's not good with us for last month or two. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, the seventh rule says to trust almost nobody.
[00:59:59] Is there any particular person or three or more who you would say Mallory trusted way too much? OK, look, I won't say that she trusted the FAP alliance too much, even though I don't definitely know she did. Right. She trusted Drew and Barrett too much because they were playing both sides. But you got to trust somebody. She picked two people that were not loyal to her. They were loyal to themselves. Whatever. But why are you trusting D and Angela? Why are you trusting Devin's? Why? Why? Why?
[01:00:28] You sit up in a room with five other people and say, you know, the icons are next. And yet here it is. Time to target them and you won't do it. Why are you trusting them? I get you trusting FAP. I'll give you a pass for that. You got to have something. But why are you trusting those other people? It makes no sense. Yeah. I won't give them give her trusting FAP. I'll get to that in a minute. But to follow up on what you said. Yeah. She absolutely should have known not to trust D. But she told Mike Bloom, we literally just like formed this mosh pit alliance a week before I was the renom.
[01:00:58] And she went out of her way multiple times to say final seven, no matter what, no pawns, no nothing. When she won HOH, she was like, you girls are good. Don't even worry about it. That just kind of felt like overkill. And it made being the renom so much more upsetting. I had been thinking, I'm going to week eight. I'm going to be in the top 10. I had already had these things in my head because she overkilled it. She told me I would be totally fine no matter what. Now, I don't quite get Mallory's reference to overkill there.
[01:01:28] I don't know if she's using the word wrong or what, because. That word suggests to me, someone did too much. But Mallory was clearly saying she believed it. If it was overkill, she wouldn't have believed it. So clearly it was not overkill. And she also said on the Thursday episode, I feel really dumb because I never really trusted the mosh pit. But you did. You never did.
[01:01:58] But but but you did. You did. Yeah. So. Yeah, you just. You did. David, she lied to herself. She's not lying to us. You know what I'm saying? We saw it. If you didn't trust them, you would have won that competition. You would have won the competition. You would have put them up. So you did. For some reason, you let yourself trust those people. And you're mad at yourself for letting yourself trust those people against your better judgment. Because you're what your brain was saying. This is a red flag. You should not do it. But. You know, I think she chickened out.
[01:02:28] And now she has to justify it. Yeah. Now, when it comes to the FAP Alliance, I know you let her off the hook there. I did. Barrett. Barrett. Mallory was on the money when she told Mike Bloom, I did have some trouble trusting that he was always telling me the full truth. And that he wasn't withholding information from me. But I did always believe that he didn't want to put my game in harm's way. And he had my best interest. And I still do think that's true. I just think he miscalculated what was going to happen.
[01:02:57] I didn't think he was going to, like, try and get me out, basically. But I do think he got me in a little bit of a pickle. Well, yes. That's all true. But the problem isn't whether or not he did it on purpose or by accident. The result is still the same. He was spilling information and it came back to bite her. And he had previously caved to pressure and agreed to vote her out once before. And yet she trusted him. She trusted him.
[01:03:24] And she got people were telling her, you know, like they had reason not to trust Drew. They had reason not to trust Barrett. They were ignoring it. But they definitely had reason. Right. So it's like I gave them the pass for the FAP Alliance. But at the point where you're getting new information about your alliance that doesn't align with what you thought, you should start to change your gameplay. When she sat there and Angela said, oh, we've been working with Drew and Barrett this entire time. Really? Because I've only been telling them for the last month that I wanted to target you. That's crazy.
[01:03:53] So at that point, why do you trust him again? Yeah. Yeah. And then Drew, like you said, is even worse. You know, despite his obvious emotions about the outcome, he has still been willing to completely throw just about anyone under the bus. Which, I mean, to be fair, is something you need to do in this game. But Mallory should have picked it up by now.
[01:04:16] It really does remind me of Big Brother 25 when Jared was spilling all the information to Sari and Jag is walking around going, how does all our information get to the other side of the house? Jared, how do you think all our information is getting to the other side of the house? Now, eventually he figured it out because Jared is not a good spy. And if he were a real spy, he would have been, you know, taken out.
[01:04:43] But here it is, early August. And Melody in Big Brother 28 is instructing Mallory to stop telling Drew anything. Mallory agreed. And yet she didn't. She also said something similar about him as she said about Barrett. I think Drew talks too much, but he does have our best interests at heart. We are his eves. And she also said, I don't think he ever means it in a malicious way. He's just a dumb little boy.
[01:05:14] Now, she might be right about that. But he did not have their best interests at heart. He had his own best interests at heart. As he should. And that's something Mallory should have recognized in a game player like him. Did you talk about this in the Why Jag lost podcast? Maybe. Okay. Just, you know, just making sure you touched on that one. Back when Jag lost Big Brother. I mean, he did end up winning. But I mean, dear God.
[01:05:43] Things like this. You have to question. Like, hey, when you start seeking the signs, you know, at some point you got to shake yourself out of it and stop ignoring them. Right. We'll break with a short plot twist for your glass. Erdbeere can more than dessert. Now new. Granini Selection Erdbeere. Fruitful pure, as strawberry matcha latte or in Spritz. And more fruit taste? Entdeck the whole Granini-Fillfalt. Mixini, happiness, don't see me, friendini, granini.
[01:06:15] Alright. It is about time to wrap things up. So, what are your final thoughts about Mallory? I feel like there's a lot of wasted potential. But I think potential is all that we got to see, right? It's like, I'm going to do this. One day I'm going to target these people. I'm going to take the shot. I'm going to win the challenge. I'm going to do these things. And then when it came time to do it, there was no follow through. Like you said, a lot of theory, not a lot of practice. She had all the pieces in front of her. She had all the tools to do the thing.
[01:06:44] She was right there at the place to do the thing. And then when it came time to have the killer instinct to win the HOH, to put up the people that she knows she didn't trust, the people that everybody knew she wanted to get out, she did not have the guts to make the move. And for that, I say like potential is just not enough. You know, I think that for somebody who's a big fan like her, I hate to see it happen. But when you're going to play like this, it's probably going to happen more times than not. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:07:12] As I noted earlier, I like Mallory quite a bit. I was rooting for her as a fellow engineer, just as a nice person. And I have to be blunt. She stupidly threw the HOH comp. And I firmly believe dumb moves should be punished. Mallory deserved to suffer the consequences. She knew she was suspicious of D. She knew D would win if she did not finish off that course as fast as she could. And she still threw it.
[01:07:41] She deserved to lose for that. But there were a number of steps leading up to that point. Mallory never really had a good reason on or a good read on where everyone stood in the game, especially two of her supposed closest allies, Drew and Barrett. But even beyond that, she told anyone who would listen that she planned to go after the icons. Word obviously was going to get back to them. She was also obvious about wavering on the Kamu vote right after the mosh pit was formed.
[01:08:10] And word got back to them about that as well. Why would D and Devins trust that alliance after a week when Mallory herself strongly considered going against it even sooner than they could? This was a further problem because people believed she could win comps and put those anti-icon plans into play, which made her a threat to them.
[01:08:35] This wasn't only in theory because we indeed know she could have beaten D in this very HOH comp. But she chose not to. Later, she would complain to Melody. I could have beat her in that HOH, but I just trusted that she wouldn't put me up. I was right there, but I slowed down at the end. And that's what Barrett did too. She probably thinks she's a better competitor than us, but I could have beat her.
[01:08:59] Well, Mallory, D is a better competitor than all of you because unlike you, she actually competed. She wasn't afraid to make moves, get some blood on her hands, put herself in what she believed was a better position. But that's exactly what paralyzed Mallory in that moment. She should have planned ahead to know exactly what she wanted to do. She certainly talked about it enough, as we've mentioned.
[01:09:25] But when the time came for her to claim it as a moment, she wouldn't do it. Now, people watching at home, watching the podcast, the recap podcast at home wouldn't know this. But during RehapCon viewing of Thursday's episode, a few different people got up and said a few words, a few different RHAP podcasters.
[01:09:47] Kirsten McInnes got up there and said during a commercial break that Mallory talked to big game when she wasn't in power about who she'd go after. But when she had the chance to gain power, she threw it. Or as Devin said, we all want to play big brother till it's time to play big brother. Then it's I don't want to do this. Yes, Mallory suffered the consequences of that action or rather inaction.
[01:10:14] But that was the final straw of all her non moves leading up to that point. She talked and yelled a big game, but then didn't play a big game. And that is why Mallory lost. And it's I mean, it's tough. It's really tough because you're 100 percent correct. I think Kirsten's 100 percent correct. It's like that, you know, big brother houses. It just engulfs you. You're in there. You see people fall in love in two days, David, you know.
[01:10:43] And so for them, for like those temporary emotions of like, I got to get this person. I got to do this thing. I got to do it. It gets overshadowed by, you know, these idea that like, oh, these are my friends and I don't want to hurt these people's feelings. And I don't want to do these things. And I kind of trust you're not going to, you know, but you got to keep your eye on the prize. And I think she lost track of what she was supposed to be doing a long time ago. She should have been on her radar from the moment he put up the first time until the moment she got D out. And the fact that she was able to kind of go out like this with the opportunity to get D out, but not pulling the trigger.
[01:11:12] It just, you know, it's going to be a that's a cautionary tale to people in the future for sure. Yes. I would say let it be a lesson. And someone said, I don't remember who, at Wednesday or Thursday's RHAP recap. Um, someone said something to the effect of, yes, you watched it on a video. Now, next time someone can see it actually in the show. But that presumes that people watch the show.
[01:11:41] I mean, Mallory watched the show and should have known better. But about half the cast is never going to see of next year's cast is never going to see this moment. It's not going to bother to watch it. Yeah. Uh, so, so we could easily be talking about the same thing next year. Um, yeah, but yes, for people who want to know, it should be a cautionary tale. Also, if you're going to watch the show and like the supplement, the supplementary stuff, the TikToks and David's content for sure.
[01:12:11] Don't ignore it when you get in the house. It really, the one we, we haven't really talked about it enough, but her saying, I saw the TikTok that said you shouldn't throw HOH. And then to throw HOH. What's the point of watching the show? If you just go ignore everything that you, that you learned from watching the show. Yeah. Yeah. It's bad that we even have a postscript to our conclusions, you know, you know, it's bad then. Yeah. It's tough.
[01:12:39] Cause like, like you said, she seems unlikable, but damn, you know, like you gotta remember what you in there to do. Right. Right. All right. Well, we will still have, and obviously after this postscript that we're wrapping up here, you know, stay tuned for our predictions in a moment, which I was going to say are obviously spoiler free.
[01:12:59] But now that the live feeds have come on, they're still spoiler free and were written without any knowledge of what happened because we literally didn't know what happened when we originally thought of them. But before we get to that, I want to mention that the rules we were referencing here are similar to the survivor rules and those come in a shorter, much more colorful version in poster form. Go to robhazwebsite.com slash YX lost feed. Scroll down to the poster, click on it and order.
[01:13:27] They also come in the poster on a t-shirt form, which you can find there as well. Uh, and you can get it as a checklist on a t-shirt form. And yes, I know we don't have big brother. I did see multiple people wearing these shirts at, that was good.
[01:13:44] Um, and, uh, uh, so I, I know I have to figure out, I have to finalize what my next rule changes are here before we do anything, because, you know, I was already after last year to get rid of rule seven and move it into rule one. And we have had something to talk about rule seven almost every damn week. Oh, David, you didn't get to take, uh, the posters and stuff next time. So next time there's a wrap con, you gotta, you gotta bring your posters. You gotta sign on. We'll do it right the next time I'll be there. Hopefully.
[01:14:13] Yeah, that's right. Yeah. Uh, also, uh, since big brother is a 24 seven game, make sure you follow us on social media to get all our thoughts throughout the week. I post videos every day on Tik TOK, including things like, uh, you know, don't throw comps, uh, also YouTube and Instagram. I am at David Bloomberg TV there. Uh, I've generally been making two or three videos per day, uh, all sorts of stuff from the show, the live feeds, my thoughts on what's happening.
[01:14:41] So come join the fun at either or any of those three places. In addition, uh, well, I was going to say, uh, you know, we, we have, I think I can't remember now if I mentioned this already. Uh, we, we are going to have a podcast discussing, obviously the person who gets eliminated on Sunday. We're not going to do a separate one though. We have decided to combine them in, uh, for the week.
[01:15:10] So that will still come, even though it happens Sunday, it's going, you know, the podcast will come out. Like usual on the Saturday following, and it will cover person eliminated in medieval times. Plus whoever is evicted the proper way, uh, next. Uh, so in addition, there's more things that are coming out because I recorded a special podcast. I've sort of referenced it here with Mike Bloom at RehapCon that many of you have been asking for.
[01:15:39] It is the long lost why Jag would have lost podcast using my old notes that I wrote up at the time. Uh, so look for that. Uh, you will see us in a different setting. We're sitting in a, at a behind a, like a desk bar type thing. Uh, just me and Mike, uh, we had, uh, uh, an audience. The room wasn't very big, but we had a few people there watching it live. Um, so yeah, watch for that.
[01:16:05] I, you know, I don't know the exact schedule, but probably in a few days after this comes out. And I've also been podcasting about the traders, Australia season three on the trade our podcast. It's T R A I D A R where I'm co-hosting every other episode all season long. And I'm going to be podcasting about the traders, Ireland also on the trade our podcast starting this week when I will be on for episode three.
[01:16:28] So you can find all of my various accounts at link tree slash David Bloomberg, including my blue sky where both of us make our social media homes. And we encourage everyone to join us there. Yeah. And, uh, I'm Chappelle's kickback at, uh, on blue blue sky and David's at David Bloomberg. You can follow us on social media, of course, and check out my content on recap, kickback, uh, recap, kickback.com. Promise where you can find me, youtube.com slash at recap, kickback. Uh, we're covering different shows. We got a lot of different things coming.
[01:16:56] Uh, Mari is my co-host, but I got so much going on over there. Um, the only way you can keep up with all that is to subscribe. And then, uh, for all the big brother fans out there checking us out here, make sure you catch me on the slop. It's for the patrons. So join the Patreon and the patron community. Uh, you know, you'll hear first about things like rap con. I'm sure they, the patrons had first dibs and stuff like that, live shows and all those things. But of course, uh, the slop is, uh, you know, patron only because it's a little bit, a little bit more edgy. I guess I would say that some of the other content I do.
[01:17:26] And then, uh, every other week on, uh, uh, BB unlocked, unlocked on RHAP as well. So you want even more big brother discussions, strategy, drama, all that kind of stuff. Make sure you check out those shows too. Yes. Yes. All right. Well, predictions. Uh, so, uh, can I go first? Sure. Yeah. David, I don't, I don't know what the thing is going to be. The whole time I was sitting there watching the show, I was thinking, oh yeah, they're having such a great time. We're at HAPCOM.
[01:17:54] I was like, how do I make a prediction when I don't even know what the, what the mechanism is for the weekend. So I don't even know who's going to be available to, to win HOH or whatever. So I predicted that somebody gets screwed over by a twist. And, uh, that is my only prediction for the week. I don't know who's going to win HOH cause I don't know who's going to get screwed over first. Yeah. I had not thought to predict HOH following the screw over. Right. Um, so, but I did.
[01:18:23] So here's the thing. Here's what I predicted. Uh, I think the worst case scenario will happen again. And in this case, that means Taylor going home. I won't even say go getting evicted. See, I told you it was the worst case scenario. Um, I won't even say getting evicted because it's, that's probably not getting evicted. Just like Rachel wasn't evicted. It's going to be some stupid games. You'll play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Um, you know, it'll be different from the hamster wheel, but something, you know, like, like he's a jousting or.
[01:18:53] Yeah. Um, I just feel like she's going to end up on the short end of the stick, which will suck if I'm right. But since I'm predicting it, I'm hoping it will be wrong. I figure if you predict the worst and anything else that happens is better. Well, you know, the betting guys were saying very early on that, uh, maybe it was Yash who was going to be in danger. So, uh, you know, not to base my prediction on couchy David, but I'm just saying that Vegas is here. No spoilers.
[01:19:22] The only reason, the only reason we're not editing that out is those odds actually changed before they started playing that comp. So somehow someone decided, uh, you know, that that was going to happen before anything happened. And so, um, uh, but, uh, yeah, it's, it's, there's some weird stuff going on when I heard about the Calci stuff. I'm gonna get in on the bed and I'm sorry. I know it's unethical, but I look, if they've been on stuff that's going to happen in the episodes and we got the feeds.
[01:19:52] I don't know why we're not on top of that. Why X loss list? Does y'all know what to do? I think that they, I think that that was on who would win. Oh, the, the competition or the goal for the season. I think the season. Oh, see, that's what I'm saying. I'm not really privy. That's why I was like, are they, are they, are they saying that Yash is going to lose the challenge on Sunday? Cause I don't know how you would know that. Um, but again, uh, maybe I'll start looking at the betting gods before they especially wouldn't know it before the challenge even started. Right. Before we even know what the challenge was. I mean, very odd to do.
[01:20:22] Otherwise it would have, it would have looked like it was insider trading, which is what I first thought it was until it was pointed out to be. No, these are his odds went down because or up whatever. Because someone said so. Right. Right. Yeah. Who knows? Who knows? So, so stay away from calls. Don't get them in business. They don't deserve it. Um, as we wrap up, I do want to encourage people to check out the same thing you did. The patron program at Rob has a website.com slash patron. There's Facebook groups. There's discord.
[01:20:52] The discord for rehab con was popping. I could, it's still popping. It's still popping. My watch is going off constantly. Uh, it, I, I just totally. Um, and, and so, you know, there's, there's also obviously, like you said, the slop and other patron only podcasts. So like I said, Rob has a website.com slash patron. Yeah. And of course you can support shows like ours by joining that community and being a part, you know, I think that, you know,
[01:21:21] what David was just talking about earlier is that going to the rap con really was just like a meeting of our community and it's not just big brother fans, but it's RHP fans. And so, you know, the more that y'all come out and support us the better. Yeah. And make sure, excuse me, make sure you're subscribed to all the RHP podcasts that we know big brother.com where you can select your podcast service of choice and just have us come into your ears magically. And of course, there's lots of other big brother content there as well.
[01:21:50] Yeah. And the magic happens behind the scenes. Thank you to Scott and Jess and all the people at RHP and the wrap ups family for all the editing they do. And then all the other podcasters that work alongside us and make this community so great. And thank you Chappelle as well for another great episode being, you know, following rule three, being flexible with my time as I drove home and didn't know how, you know, where I'd be here and everything. And so, so yeah, you know, we will see everyone in a week or a double.
[01:22:20] And until then you can find us on social media. So bye. Peace.
