[00:00:57] It was 10 years ago, on a night just like this, when we watched the San Juan del Sur finale, and it sounded just like this.

[00:01:12] If anybody has a hidden immunity idol and you want to play it, now would be the time to do so.

[00:01:18] Yeah, I guess time to get the idol out of the bag.

[00:01:31] So I was going to play this for myself tonight, but

[00:01:36] idols are more fun when you play them for somebody else.

[00:01:41] Jacqueline, did you vote for who I told you to vote for?

[00:01:43] I'm playing this for Jack.

[00:01:49] Okay, yes!

[00:01:50] Oh, she said the thing!

[00:01:52] Rob Cisario back here with Josh Wiggler.

[00:01:54] Josh, how are you?

[00:01:55] Oh my God, pumping my fist so you know how to find me.

[00:01:59] And so thrilled to be here at the San Juan del Sur finale, Rob.

[00:02:06] 10 years greater.

[00:02:08] Yeah, what a night where we watched the finale.

[00:02:11] What a night!

[00:02:12] Three hours, one part finale.

[00:02:14] Can you believe it?

[00:02:16] I can barely believe it.

[00:02:19] I can barely believe it, Rob.

[00:02:21] We had a lot of action to take care of in this episode, and yet we had time for check-ins at the live reunion.

[00:02:32] We had time for a reward challenge.

[00:02:36] We were able to do a lot in just a fairly limited amount of time.

[00:02:40] Yeah, they got a lot in and a lot to unpack as we watched Natalie Anderson become the 28th different person to win Survivor.

[00:02:50] Yeah, definitely.

[00:02:51] Okay, a winner of season 29.

[00:02:52] You could say they were two different Sandras, but you'd be wrong.

[00:02:55] Yes, of San Juan del Sur.

[00:02:56] How are you doing today, Josh?

[00:02:57] I'm doing quite well.

[00:02:59] Very, very, very bittersweet to get to the end of the road once more on San Juan del Sur, Rob.

[00:03:05] I have enjoyed going back and watching the 29th season of Survivor.

[00:03:09] Living 10 years in the past as the majority of my on-air Survivor experience has been delightful, I have to say.

[00:03:18] But it's bitter because I imagine, Rob, why will I watch San Juan del Sur again for quite some time?

[00:03:27] This is really it.

[00:03:29] I don't think I'll check back in on it for another 10 years probably.

[00:03:33] So we finished talking about it today.

[00:03:35] I put it back on the shelf and we say, see you in a decade.

[00:03:40] Yeah.

[00:03:41] Hope we're still here.

[00:03:42] Well, we'll see.

[00:03:44] But there's, you know what?

[00:03:46] Every time I rewatch a season of Survivor, I feel like that.

[00:03:49] And then, you know what?

[00:03:50] I keep getting older.

[00:03:52] They keep staying the same age.

[00:03:55] We keep going back.

[00:03:57] It's true.

[00:03:58] We do keep going back.

[00:03:59] That's what they're there on the shelf for.

[00:04:01] And San Juan del Sur, very rewarding.

[00:04:04] How did you feel going back and watching the finale, Rob?

[00:04:08] And what are your finale memories of the finale of Survivor, San Juan del Sur?

[00:04:11] Yeah.

[00:04:12] You know what?

[00:04:13] I don't remember too much about the actual finale night.

[00:04:16] I remember being at my house and being at my apartment for that one.

[00:04:20] But I really don't remember a lot from that particular night.

[00:04:24] And I'm looking forward to seeing what our San Juan del Sur gets had to say about the podcasting that night.

[00:04:31] I don't even, Josh, do you have any recollection of the after party that I don't even remember if I attended?

[00:04:38] Not.

[00:04:39] Absolutely not.

[00:04:40] I'm certain that I attended and I'm positive that I have no memories of it.

[00:04:43] I'm sure I would have talked about it in some of the podcasts.

[00:04:46] So maybe...

[00:04:47] This era is like sort of for me, like what the 40s feel like watching them.

[00:04:52] Like a lot of like these reunions and like whatever happened afterwards just like kind of forms a soup.

[00:04:57] A little bit of a soup.

[00:04:59] I can tell you I'm sure I had a great time.

[00:05:01] A fantastic time at the Survivor finale.

[00:05:05] Yeah.

[00:05:05] I can't wait to hear what you had to say about it on the podcast.

[00:05:07] More to the point, I can't wait to hear what Steven had to say.

[00:05:11] I wonder if Steven finally was feeling like San Juan del Sur showed up strategically at this point.

[00:05:16] Yes.

[00:05:17] All right.

[00:05:17] Well, we'll get into Steven's thoughts on all of it.

[00:05:21] But also fun to watch the live reunion show here.

[00:05:25] Now, I haven't rewatched a lot of old Survivor since that they have gotten rid of the live reunion show.

[00:05:31] But fun to also watch Jeff open the show and bring it back and welcome in the live crowd.

[00:05:38] Jeff does a lot of vamping with the crowd also in the San Juan del Sur finale.

[00:05:42] He does a lot of vamping with the crowd.

[00:05:45] He makes a couple of friends.

[00:05:46] I think that he participates in scenes with actual paid actors.

[00:05:54] I feel like the blue collar, white collar, no collar people.

[00:05:57] Yeah, we could talk about that.

[00:05:58] They spend a lot of time setting up season 30, which famously Jeff was extremely high on coming out of Survivor.

[00:06:05] The next evolution of Survivor.

[00:06:07] It's the 30th season, but just the 30th season.

[00:06:10] It's just the 30th season.

[00:06:10] We could set that up more here tonight.

[00:06:13] But can you believe it?

[00:06:14] We have gone through the entire San Juan del Sur now.

[00:06:18] I can believe it because it was just an extraordinary thing to re-experience and to look at all of the different ways that so much has changed since when this season first dropped.

[00:06:33] Some funny ways in which it intersected with 47 as it's currently airing.

[00:06:38] And really just a delight.

[00:06:40] And some of it just really popped so well for me.

[00:06:43] It was so much fun getting to see Keith Nail again.

[00:06:47] It was so fun gaining new appreciation for Nugget Champion, Wes Nail.

[00:06:52] It was so delightful, feeling vindicated in my long-held but not publicly disclosed belief that Missy Payne should be brought back for a second chance at Survivor.

[00:07:04] And I will cherish all of these memories just as fondly as I cherished the first time watching this show.

[00:07:11] All right.

[00:07:11] Well, let's talk through this big finale.

[00:07:14] And Josh, of course, Jeff sets it up in the opener.

[00:07:20] I do feel like that the vibes between the 2014 Jeff and the 2024 Jeff, I feel like upon further examination, do feel drastically different.

[00:07:32] And I'd say I'm enjoying the 2024 Jeff more than the 2014 Jeff.

[00:07:38] I think that that's probably right.

[00:07:40] Right. I think so.

[00:07:41] A thought that I had while watching the reunion was that Probst's energy at the live reunion versus Probst's energy in Nicaragua filming San Juan del Sur feels so much like the energy he is giving out in Fiji through all the seasons now.

[00:08:01] Like the way that we've been talking about, like he's playing for the people in the back, like projection.

[00:08:05] He's being a little more animated.

[00:08:07] I feel like that's like live reunion, Jeff, to some extent.

[00:08:11] It's just that he never really like completely unhinged himself in that same way.

[00:08:17] But he's treating Survivor that he's making now like he's treating it like it's a live audience and he's playing to them.

[00:08:22] So I think there's a little bit of a thread there.

[00:08:24] I just feel like he seems very tight throughout all of this.

[00:08:28] Yes. Yes.

[00:08:29] And I don't know for whatever reason.

[00:08:31] He just like he does seem looser in the 2024 of it all.

[00:08:35] But, you know, I think long hair don't care.

[00:08:39] Long hair don't care.

[00:08:40] All right.

[00:08:40] So Jeff welcomes everybody in.

[00:08:43] And the finale starts with, you know, if I'm going to be honest, we open with a final five.

[00:08:52] Well, actually, a big fight.

[00:08:54] Actually, we get some fireworks.

[00:08:55] Huge fight.

[00:08:56] Yeah.

[00:08:56] It gets real personal, I believe, between Missy and Jacqueline.

[00:09:00] And now he says it's just a game.

[00:09:01] And Jacqueline's like, no, this time it's personal.

[00:09:05] She gets really mad because she doesn't like people saying mean things about John.

[00:09:10] She does not care for that.

[00:09:13] I feel like she did.

[00:09:14] She did.

[00:09:15] You hear her take like a few shots at Missy.

[00:09:17] I felt like there was what she said.

[00:09:19] I just feel like I don't know if I if I misheard, but it's something about the I think she raised the specter of the ex-husbands.

[00:09:27] You know, it's such low hanging fruit to go after Missy anytime she does anything like, oh, is this why you didn't work out with the guys?

[00:09:37] You know, come on, come on.

[00:09:38] Be better.

[00:09:39] We can't refine the critique.

[00:09:41] You just always have to go for just like the obvious bruise that you keep pushing.

[00:09:47] Yeah.

[00:09:47] Leave it alone.

[00:09:49] So it's a blowout.

[00:09:51] Yeah.

[00:09:51] She yells at Natalie.

[00:09:54] Yeah.

[00:09:55] Jack's pissed.

[00:09:56] Yeah.

[00:09:57] She's mad.

[00:09:58] She's mad.

[00:09:59] Yeah.

[00:10:00] She had a really bad reaction that Keith is nowhere to be found.

[00:10:03] Where is Keith in these moments?

[00:10:05] I don't know.

[00:10:05] I think he goes and runs for it.

[00:10:07] I mean, he talks about when he gets eliminated.

[00:10:10] He's like, he's like, well, what do you expect?

[00:10:14] Three women.

[00:10:14] Look, I can't even deal with one woman at home.

[00:10:17] That's right.

[00:10:18] Yeah.

[00:10:18] Yeah.

[00:10:19] All right.

[00:10:20] But then we really get a lot of Keith because we are going to have our challenge.

[00:10:26] And they did this a lot in the late 20s, early 30s of a reward challenge where you're playing for an advantage in the next challenge.

[00:10:35] And really, you could miss me with all of this between, you know, the challenge to get ready for the challenge.

[00:10:43] Yeah, sure.

[00:10:45] Yeah.

[00:10:46] I think when you're talking about a three hour episode and we're not trying to do three hours ourselves, we can make some cuts along the way.

[00:10:54] I don't think it added much other than like, does Keith win this one if he doesn't get to he gets to practice the final five challenge?

[00:11:04] That's the reward he wins at the reward challenge.

[00:11:07] But he won this challenge.

[00:11:08] Like we could have just he could just win this challenge.

[00:11:11] He could just win this one.

[00:11:12] That's it.

[00:11:13] It was the same difference.

[00:11:15] Keith Nail won the reward challenge to get ready to practice for the ultimate actual challenge.

[00:11:22] You didn't need it.

[00:11:24] Yes, correct.

[00:11:26] You know, Survivor is doing like a lot less with like the actual amount of challenges that you're getting in like a finale episode, I think, unless there are elimination challenges.

[00:11:38] Yeah.

[00:11:39] And like still having a ton of obviously it's the 90 minute per episode thing certainly helps with the way that they can tell a story.

[00:11:46] But I think another thing that they've done well is like it's just like it doesn't always have to be like a challenge challenge.

[00:11:52] Like we could like break it up with a couple of other things because this feels like it does feel totally uninspired.

[00:11:59] Right.

[00:11:59] Like I think it just like feels very uninspired and just like we need to have a segment here and like not trusting that the show would be interesting enough on its own.

[00:12:08] So what's the issue here that Julie quit and that threw off the numbers?

[00:12:12] Do you feel like?

[00:12:13] I don't know.

[00:12:14] Maybe.

[00:12:15] Possibly.

[00:12:15] You know, in Cagayan, I think they ended up just having a final two in this spot.

[00:12:19] I think here they end up deciding to, OK, we're going to keep it a final three, but we have all the challenges built already.

[00:12:25] You know what?

[00:12:26] Like someone quits, Rob.

[00:12:28] I feel like the reward should be like it's 38 days.

[00:12:31] You know, like you get a final final day freebie.

[00:12:34] That being said.

[00:12:34] That'd be great.

[00:12:35] Josh, the actual final five challenge was like kind of like convoluted.

[00:12:38] I don't know if we ever get that challenge again where Keith Nail, because he had a day to practice, was the only person that was able to actually complete like this.

[00:12:47] Right.

[00:12:47] Rube Goldberg type machine.

[00:12:49] It was sort of like the start of some motion.

[00:12:51] But then you're carrying you're trying to balance the billiard ball on like a paddle.

[00:12:58] Those like those like long mirrors that the dentist uses to like see what's going on back there.

[00:13:05] He basically has two of those and he's putting a ping pong ball between them and you have to like try and catch it that way.

[00:13:12] Nobody else even completed one and Keith Nail won the whole challenge.

[00:13:17] And you know what?

[00:13:17] He didn't need to practice to be the one who was eventually going to crack this.

[00:13:21] Like Keith Nail was not a strategic genius by any stretch of the imagination, but he had this sort of magic touch.

[00:13:28] He was good with balls.

[00:13:30] He was.

[00:13:31] He says that.

[00:13:32] He had this magic touch.

[00:13:34] He had this magic touch out there.

[00:13:36] So I don't know.

[00:13:36] He didn't need to win that reward in order to have won the immunity challenge.

[00:13:39] But that's how it ends up going.

[00:13:40] All right.

[00:13:41] So Jeff is doing a lot of crowd work during the San Juan del Sur finale.

[00:13:45] OK, so they Keith ends up he wins the advantage challenge.

[00:13:52] Jacqueline goes to Exile Island.

[00:13:54] Tough day for Jacqueline, I think, between John getting voted out and then going to Exile Island.

[00:13:58] And so Jeff does says shows us, OK, how much food do the contestants really eat out?

[00:14:07] Yeah.

[00:14:09] OK, so if we still had the live reunion, because I know that this is a really big debate.

[00:14:16] There's a lot of people out there who say like, oh, I don't think we should be doing the reunion right after the final tribal.

[00:14:23] They're too raw.

[00:14:23] We're missing something like we're losing context or whatever.

[00:14:27] And then they say that let's go back to the way the reunions were.

[00:14:31] But if we if we go back to the way reunions were, Rob, we're going to have to check in with Olivia Feldman every time.

[00:14:38] You know, like we're going to have to speak to the Olivia Feldman's of the world.

[00:14:40] Before we get to Olivia Feldman, the little girl that Jeff talks to, he's like so he's like showing like what do the survivors eat in a day?

[00:14:48] So like these will be the interstitials that you'll get in your finale now.

[00:14:51] Yeah.

[00:14:52] If you go back to this era, wouldn't you rather just like straight through survivor?

[00:14:57] Well, I think that we're in this era where I think that Kageon was it Kageon or was it this the first time that Jeff starts and is bringing people in?

[00:15:07] It might be this one.

[00:15:08] I don't remember if Jeff is breaking the is like popping in during the survivor Kageon finale.

[00:15:15] I don't recall, but he certainly does this all the way through the end.

[00:15:20] Live reunion shows rain.

[00:15:21] OK, so but but it wasn't there the whole time.

[00:15:24] It may be it might even be as early as blood versus water, but it's around this time that he's doing it so that we cut back and forth.

[00:15:30] And then eventually he's going to start bringing people up like when they do an interview with somebody when they get voted out.

[00:15:37] Like, hey, audience, how about we got this person here?

[00:15:39] It becomes a real to do.

[00:15:41] Yeah.

[00:15:41] So here Jeff is showing us.

[00:15:45] So what did the survivors really eat?

[00:15:46] So he has got like this little bowl of rice.

[00:15:48] He's like, look at this bowl of rice.

[00:15:49] This only is 100 calories.

[00:15:50] Now, just for context, let's compare.

[00:15:55] A hundred calories versus the average American's diet.

[00:16:01] What do you think about the spread of the average American's diet?

[00:16:06] What was on there?

[00:16:07] So we had like some eggs and toast and bacon.

[00:16:10] Pretty good breakfast.

[00:16:11] I thought that was interesting.

[00:16:12] He like he pulled out like English brekkie and like put it on the table.

[00:16:16] It's like, oh, we're just missing like the blood sausage and tomato.

[00:16:19] But it's like basically fully there.

[00:16:21] Yeah.

[00:16:21] We're almost all the way.

[00:16:23] For lunch.

[00:16:24] Okay.

[00:16:25] You have a burger.

[00:16:27] Jeff's in the fries.

[00:16:30] And a soda.

[00:16:31] Of course you have to.

[00:16:31] Average.

[00:16:32] Yeah.

[00:16:32] That's average lunch.

[00:16:33] And what's the average dinner?

[00:16:37] Spaghetti.

[00:16:39] And it looks like some breadsticks also.

[00:16:42] What?

[00:16:42] No dessert of Tierra Misu?

[00:16:46] No Tierra Misu.

[00:16:47] No Tierra Misu on an average day.

[00:16:49] He's talking about averages.

[00:16:51] On an average day, that sounds close enough to what I do.

[00:16:54] 2,500 calories that according to Jeff.

[00:16:58] Okay.

[00:16:58] That's 2,500 calories.

[00:17:00] All of that.

[00:17:02] That seems pretty good for.

[00:17:03] I feel like that sounds like a really good deal.

[00:17:06] That seems like a good deal.

[00:17:07] Like a really good deal.

[00:17:08] Like that's a 2,500 day.

[00:17:10] Like, whoa, you ate well.

[00:17:12] Yeah.

[00:17:13] So.

[00:17:13] Good work.

[00:17:14] All right.

[00:17:14] So Jeff goes out to a little girl.

[00:17:16] She appears to be one of Jacqueline's guests.

[00:17:18] We're always going to check in with some kids during this area or during this era.

[00:17:23] What's making you think that it's one of Jacqueline's guests?

[00:17:25] She had on the back of the seat, a seat reserved for Jacqueline Schultz.

[00:17:30] And so.

[00:17:30] Okay.

[00:17:31] That would strongly suggest that she's one of Jacqueline's guests.

[00:17:33] And there was right.

[00:17:33] It seems like that they're with the family.

[00:17:35] Because I think that right behind there's like a West Nail lookalike.

[00:17:37] I'm like, why is West Nail in the audience?

[00:17:39] For the abandoned West Nail twin routine they were going to do.

[00:17:43] Yeah.

[00:17:44] So there must be another Nail male that's out there.

[00:17:47] Cut for time.

[00:17:47] Cut for time.

[00:17:49] So.

[00:17:49] Yeah.

[00:17:50] Either that or they kick somebody out of the Jacqueline family seat and brought this little

[00:17:54] girl in.

[00:17:54] But I think she's.

[00:17:55] Is that what we're going to do when we do the West Nail nugget eating competition on Long

[00:18:00] Island next summer?

[00:18:01] All the nails?

[00:18:02] If we can't get West, like then we do it sort of like the Timothee Chalamet thing and just

[00:18:07] like get as many West Nail males as humanly possible.

[00:18:11] Sure.

[00:18:11] West Nail lookalike contest?

[00:18:13] Yeah.

[00:18:13] That's what I'm saying.

[00:18:14] Yeah.

[00:18:15] Yeah.

[00:18:16] Why not?

[00:18:18] Let me work on this.

[00:18:19] Yeah.

[00:18:19] Okay.

[00:18:20] So tell me about Josh.

[00:18:21] Jeff talks to a young woman, Olivia Feldman, probably about 10 or 11.

[00:18:26] So she would be of age to play survivor at this point.

[00:18:29] And she basically, he's like basically, hey, so do you think you could live on this diet?

[00:18:33] You think you could do survivors?

[00:18:34] Like, no, not at my age.

[00:18:36] It's like, oh, Olivia Feldman.

[00:18:37] Always quick with a quip.

[00:18:39] Yeah.

[00:18:39] And she said, but when I get older, I'm going to be on this show.

[00:18:44] And she's been eligible for three years now?

[00:18:47] Yeah.

[00:18:48] We haven't seen her.

[00:18:48] I mean, one of these days we will finally get like, well, I was the kid in the reunion

[00:18:54] that voted for that Ben was going to win the game.

[00:18:57] It is such a good story.

[00:18:59] I'm shocked that they haven't done that.

[00:19:03] Like, that feels like such, that's like the good kind of low hanging fruit, I think.

[00:19:08] Like, that's right there.

[00:19:09] Put that person on a season.

[00:19:11] Get Austin Russell back.

[00:19:13] Let's do the full thing.

[00:19:14] Mm-hmm.

[00:19:15] Okay.

[00:19:15] Blood versus water.

[00:19:16] They'd be a pair.

[00:19:17] All right.

[00:19:17] So we go back to the action out in Nicaragua.

[00:19:22] Jacqueline is having a little bit of a, you know, sad time on Exile Island.

[00:19:29] She's in her feelings.

[00:19:29] She's in her feelings.

[00:19:31] You know, she's facing it down, right?

[00:19:35] You know, conventional wisdom makes it look like Jacqueline's toast.

[00:19:41] She's toast.

[00:19:42] Y'all toast.

[00:19:43] Jacqueline.

[00:19:44] Yeah.

[00:19:44] Yeah.

[00:19:45] That's my Jacqueline.

[00:19:48] She's not doing great.

[00:19:50] But Natalie maybe has a couple tricks up her sleeve.

[00:19:54] Okay.

[00:19:55] All right.

[00:19:55] We then watch Keith Nail.

[00:19:58] He goes to go practice.

[00:19:59] He talks about the flash over.

[00:20:02] We get a lot of fire department terminology in San Juan del Sur between Jeremy explaining

[00:20:07] surround and drown.

[00:20:09] Josh, we get Keith explaining to us in the fire department, you know, in the fire department,

[00:20:13] we have what they call flash over.

[00:20:17] Wasn't that a show?

[00:20:19] Flash over.

[00:20:20] Wasn't that one of the lost clones on ABC?

[00:20:23] Could have been.

[00:20:24] I think.

[00:20:26] Yeah.

[00:20:27] Flash forward.

[00:20:27] Flash forward.

[00:20:28] Sorry.

[00:20:29] Yeah.

[00:20:29] Flash over.

[00:20:30] What is, what is a flash over exactly?

[00:20:33] Yeah.

[00:20:33] Um, it does like that the, that the whole place is about to go.

[00:20:39] Okay.

[00:20:40] So is he, he's describing himself as the flash over.

[00:20:43] I think he's saying.

[00:20:44] Or the game.

[00:20:45] Yeah.

[00:20:45] I think what he's saying is that, okay, we're in flash over territory.

[00:20:49] This whole thing's about to burn down.

[00:20:51] We got to get out of here.

[00:20:52] And so I think he's like, it's do or die.

[00:20:54] I think he's what he's saying.

[00:20:55] What a great way to describe the final stretch of survivor.

[00:21:00] I feel like this whole thing is about to go down.

[00:21:03] Get out of here with the money.

[00:21:05] Yeah.

[00:21:07] And so we watch Keith practice.

[00:21:09] Yes.

[00:21:12] We're talking about practice now.

[00:21:13] Yep.

[00:21:14] Keith nails.

[00:21:14] Are we really doing this?

[00:21:15] Keith nails going to practice and.

[00:21:17] He practices with using the dental mirrors with the ball and he does it.

[00:21:21] And he says, I'm going to do it.

[00:21:23] Yep.

[00:21:23] And then they go to the actual challenge and he does it and he wins it.

[00:21:26] And it's not even close.

[00:21:27] It's not close.

[00:21:28] It's so boring.

[00:21:30] It really is rather boring.

[00:21:32] Yeah.

[00:21:33] This, this is a great sequence in two X.

[00:21:36] Okay.

[00:21:37] So Keith has won the final five immunity challenge.

[00:21:40] And then we come back and then we get a little bit of backstory about the challenge that we saw.

[00:21:46] Was it in last week's episode?

[00:21:48] It was the challenge from last week.

[00:21:51] So we go back to the reunion and Jeff is now with boy genius, Austin Russell, who has, who designed the challenge.

[00:22:03] That was the reward challenge from, I believe, last week's episode.

[00:22:07] And he's there.

[00:22:09] He's part of Make-A-Wish.

[00:22:10] It was his, his wish to go out there and talk to John Kirhofer.

[00:22:14] And you see like photos of Kirhofer and the Kirhofer trailer.

[00:22:18] And then they're like, well, your challenge was so good.

[00:22:22] We put it on the show.

[00:22:23] As you observed last week, of course, this is the challenge that breaks Missy's ankle.

[00:22:29] So there is that.

[00:22:30] And that goes completely unmentioned entirely.

[00:22:35] Austin Russell was, did I miss something with Austin Russell recently, Rob, is my question for you.

[00:22:43] Is this, is this ringing any bells?

[00:22:45] Because I was away from the real time with Survivor 45.

[00:22:48] But today I came across an article, North Texas Make-A-Wish Survivor creates challenge for the reality show.

[00:22:59] And it's a 10 years later interview with Austin Russell.

[00:23:03] Yeah.

[00:23:04] He's 22, 22 years old.

[00:23:07] And somehow, some way, this article insinuates that Austin Russell had something to do with Survivor 45.

[00:23:20] So not that, so I'm looking at the same article.

[00:23:22] I don't know.

[00:23:23] This could be some sort of like AI mistake.

[00:23:26] Is this real?

[00:23:27] Yeah, this feels like.

[00:23:28] Because I don't really know.

[00:23:30] Is this real life?

[00:23:31] I don't know.

[00:23:32] I can't speak to this.

[00:23:34] Yeah.

[00:23:35] Because I figured like, here's what I figured, Rob.

[00:23:39] I figured like you and like Mike Bloom and like Dalton, like you all would have had been really asleep at the switch to miss this.

[00:23:47] If like something fairly significant had happened with Austin Russell and Survivor 45.

[00:23:55] Yeah.

[00:23:56] So it sounds like, did this happen?

[00:24:00] Is this real?

[00:24:00] Was it like.

[00:24:03] Yeah.

[00:24:04] Did he just like go out there for like a set visit?

[00:24:06] Like what's going on?

[00:24:08] Yeah.

[00:24:09] They say that he's part of it.

[00:24:10] They say that he's part of it, but I'm not really sure if they bring him back.

[00:24:14] Was he an alternate?

[00:24:17] I can't speak to it.

[00:24:19] I don't know.

[00:24:20] Yeah.

[00:24:21] But it's a great story that he ends up creating this challenge, even though Missy breaks her ankle.

[00:24:27] She breaks her ankle on it.

[00:24:28] Yeah.

[00:24:28] Yeah.

[00:24:29] And I don't know.

[00:24:30] I wonder if they just like talked about it again.

[00:24:33] Okay.

[00:24:33] Actually, no.

[00:24:34] Okay.

[00:24:34] So here we go.

[00:24:36] So we got it.

[00:24:37] I got it.

[00:24:37] Okay.

[00:24:38] So this is the survivor Instagram account.

[00:24:41] They did the whole reset.

[00:24:42] Okay.

[00:24:43] All right.

[00:24:43] And then smash cut.

[00:24:45] They go 14 seasons later.

[00:24:48] Oh, wow.

[00:24:50] Austin returns.

[00:24:51] Okay.

[00:24:52] Austin returns.

[00:24:53] Let's see what he, what he's doing.

[00:24:58] Official rehearsal survivor 43 for the challenge that our dream teamer, Austin Russell created.

[00:25:07] I like my design because it's difficult in different ways.

[00:25:11] This is hard because you're trying to.

[00:25:13] He's in the dream team now.

[00:25:15] Austin Russell is a dream teamer.

[00:25:18] Yeah.

[00:25:19] This is the coolest shit ever.

[00:25:21] Very agile, very small.

[00:25:23] Try to move through very small areas.

[00:25:25] This is hard because you want to go very fast.

[00:25:27] We're tied together.

[00:25:27] The seesaw is by far the most dangerous thing on this.

[00:25:30] Hard for just about everyone.

[00:25:32] You're good, Coco.

[00:25:33] Head over the gate.

[00:25:34] A balance challenge.

[00:25:35] It's one of a kind.

[00:25:36] The very first design I made in stop motion, it was just the hurdles, the bucket with water,

[00:25:43] and then going over the seesaw to fill up.

[00:25:46] Yeah.

[00:25:46] Look at this.

[00:25:47] Okay.

[00:25:48] Austin's like on.

[00:25:49] This is a happy story.

[00:25:50] He's in Fiji.

[00:25:51] He's got like, uh, he, he looks the spitting image, the platonic ideal of a survivor dream

[00:25:58] teamer.

[00:25:58] Yeah.

[00:25:58] He's got like a hat on a little backpack.

[00:26:01] He was doing a little running.

[00:26:02] We're going to get, I think of like one of these kids that they bring out in the reunion

[00:26:05] show and being on the show.

[00:26:07] God, we got a kid on the dream team.

[00:26:09] That's incredible.

[00:26:11] Uh, that's an incredible survivor story that I'm surprised has not gotten more traction.

[00:26:15] Uh, I mean, you did get a lot of likes on Instagram, but I don't know.

[00:26:19] Uh, we forgot.

[00:26:20] It was 110 weeks ago.

[00:26:22] Hopefully it gets another bump right now.

[00:26:23] Oh, let me like it.

[00:26:24] I think I hit it with a like.

[00:26:26] Yeah.

[00:26:27] Hit that.

[00:26:27] So, uh, put that in the show notes.

[00:26:30] Everyone go and like it.

[00:26:31] This is like, remember when we told everybody if that person's, uh, uh, survivor Twitter

[00:26:37] handle was still, uh, available that they should tweet us.

[00:26:40] It's the evolution of strategy.

[00:26:42] It's like that.

[00:26:43] Everyone should go and like this Austin Russell dream teamer.

[00:26:46] Yep.

[00:26:47] Okay.

[00:26:47] Oh yeah.

[00:26:47] 12,000 people have liked it, including Brandon.

[00:26:51] So many more people liking, uh, that Instagram.

[00:26:54] That's a great story.

[00:26:55] Dream teamer, I think is maybe the best gig, uh, in town.

[00:26:59] Uh, I think a dream teamer is like, you get all of the adventure.

[00:27:02] Like you get a lot of the adventure of going out there and playing survivor, but you can

[00:27:05] shower at some point, you know, at some point, that's pretty decent.

[00:27:09] That's pretty decent.

[00:27:10] That's great.

[00:27:10] Cool story.

[00:27:11] Love that.

[00:27:13] Josh, we come back to camp.

[00:27:15] Uh, and so there's a really funny fourth, like key, almost like, uh, shades of what's

[00:27:21] going to happen with Carolyn some, uh, 15 seasons later of Keith nails trying to get

[00:27:26] through a confessional and they leave a lot of this in the show.

[00:27:30] We don't hear the producer, but Keith is trying to get his confessional out and like needs

[00:27:34] to like start and stop a couple of times.

[00:27:39] What does he say?

[00:27:40] He's like, uh, he's like, he's a little bit like, I wish I would have pulled the clip

[00:27:44] for this.

[00:27:45] He's like, uh, well, being, being out here is like, uh, what was I saying about that?

[00:27:51] Oh yeah.

[00:27:52] Day 38.

[00:27:53] This is tough.

[00:27:54] All right.

[00:27:55] Let me start again.

[00:27:56] Like being out here.

[00:27:57] What is it that big D says about Keith Dale?

[00:28:01] What you see is what you get.

[00:28:02] Yeah.

[00:28:03] You know, that's why we love him.

[00:28:04] That's why I love him.

[00:28:06] Uh, yeah.

[00:28:07] Yeah.

[00:28:07] Okay.

[00:28:07] He just kept squeaking by, squeaking by, squeaking by.

[00:28:10] Well, all right.

[00:28:11] Keith is safe.

[00:28:13] It's gotta be Jacqueline.

[00:28:14] Jacqueline.

[00:28:15] So sorry, Jacqueline.

[00:28:17] Jacqueline and that are going to have a little chat.

[00:28:21] Yeah.

[00:28:22] And, uh, maybe it's not as done for Jacqueline as, as everybody else thinks.

[00:28:29] Yep.

[00:28:30] Natalie says that Baylor and Missy, their blood, they're never going to vote for each other.

[00:28:34] Right.

[00:28:36] So I guess my question all these years later is, was this necessary?

[00:28:43] It's awesome.

[00:28:44] It's awesome.

[00:28:44] What happens here, but is it necessary?

[00:28:46] Like, is it so important, Rob to risk, you know, such a ruckus internally with Missy?

[00:28:54] If she survives this vote, which she's the one who's going to survive.

[00:28:57] And if they were wise enough to vote out Natalie at the next vote, Natalie doesn't get to the end.

[00:29:02] But like, is her concern that she's going to sit at the end with Missy and Baylor so serious that she should take that risk?

[00:29:11] Ultimately, we just said last week, Missy and Baylor can't beat anybody at this point.

[00:29:17] In any combo.

[00:29:19] Yeah, I think this is a pretty good resume move.

[00:29:23] This is like a very cool thing to do.

[00:29:25] And I think like, I like it because it's awesome.

[00:29:29] Uh, do I like, do I think it's like the smartest move on the board in hindsight?

[00:29:33] I don't know.

[00:29:34] Yeah.

[00:29:35] But it's so cool.

[00:29:36] I think it's a good question of, okay, did Natalie have to do this move?

[00:29:40] No, but maybe she read the script and was like, oh, Jacqueline's going to win the final four immunity challenge.

[00:29:47] Right.

[00:29:48] I better make this move because ultimately you're right.

[00:29:51] It's not a move that she has to do.

[00:29:52] I think she could kind of coast to the final three of like, okay, Baylor and Missy.

[00:29:57] I'm going to go to, I'm going to go to the final four with Baylor and Missy and Keith.

[00:30:00] And as long as, um, you know, uh, you know, we can, um, I'll actually, no, Jacqueline will be gone.

[00:30:07] Jacqueline will be gone.

[00:30:09] One thing about it that I like is like, she's keeping Jacqueline around to compete with Keith.

[00:30:13] Like the two of us versus Keith.

[00:30:15] One of us has to win in order to get out Keith.

[00:30:17] I guess then my question is like, why not blindside Missy who literally can't compete in the challenge.

[00:30:23] So now that you've got a Baylor on your side and it's a three to one shot against Keith.

[00:30:27] Hmm.

[00:30:29] Well, not sure.

[00:30:33] Maybe, maybe some, maybe we get, we touch on this in some of the post game interviews.

[00:30:37] Maybe.

[00:30:37] I don't, I don't think I was thinking about it back then.

[00:30:40] I think what I was thinking back then was like, this is the coolest thing.

[00:30:43] It was cool.

[00:30:43] It's so cool.

[00:30:44] So like, it's not a complaint.

[00:30:46] It's just a question a decade later.

[00:30:48] Yeah.

[00:30:48] And I don't know if we have had too many other times where people are, you know, playing idols.

[00:30:55] Like certainly, you know, you had the Parvati idol play.

[00:30:58] Uh, Tony and LJ try to play idols on each other in survivor Kageon, which has had, they had seen before they played this game.

[00:31:07] But this was a pretty big move.

[00:31:10] Yeah.

[00:31:10] This is a hot move.

[00:31:11] This is a really hot move where it's just like, you see, I'm putting on a show for y'all, you guys, like everybody on the jury.

[00:31:17] You're so bored.

[00:31:18] You want to do like, this is just going to end up being just like a stampede to the end.

[00:31:22] Let me give you a show.

[00:31:23] Uh, so like there's something to be said for that for sure.

[00:31:26] Uh, you know, I don't, I don't know, but again, I would call it necessary, but if like, you're just doing everything in your, you know, mental capacity to secure the winning votes.

[00:31:37] Uh, this is a fun thing to do for the audience on the jury.

[00:31:40] And Baylor.

[00:31:41] Christie seemed riveted.

[00:31:42] Yeah.

[00:31:43] Baylor asks Natalie earlier in the day, uh, play the idol of my mom.

[00:31:51] Do you think that's what gave her the idea?

[00:31:55] I don't think so.

[00:31:56] Do you think Baylor willed it into existence?

[00:31:58] I don't think she accepted it.

[00:31:59] But, um, huge move.

[00:32:01] And ultimately, and Missy thinks she's going home, but it's Baylor, but Baylor gives, yeah, she gives the credit to, she says, wow, I can't even be mad at it.

[00:32:09] This is a big move.

[00:32:10] Baylor has no issue with it.

[00:32:12] I think Baylor gets out of there and, um, Baylor's attitude for the rest of it is really, really good until Reed makes her cry.

[00:32:19] Uh, but like short of that, I think like she gets voted out and she's just like, you know, sunshine and rainbows on the jury.

[00:32:26] Mm-hmm.

[00:32:27] Okay.

[00:32:27] So we come back.

[00:32:29] Jeff's like, wow.

[00:32:30] All right.

[00:32:31] Okay.

[00:32:31] Uh, here's a group of people.

[00:32:33] Here's a group of people that love watching Survivor.

[00:32:38] Let's, let's talk to them.

[00:32:40] Uh-huh.

[00:32:41] Mm-hmm.

[00:32:42] Yeah.

[00:32:43] He has more people that he'd like to speak with.

[00:32:45] Okay.

[00:32:45] Um, he's got a little more, he's got just a little more time than he's got to fill out.

[00:32:50] Okay.

[00:32:50] And so, uh, we've got all, all these folks, Josh and Jeff talks to them like, hey, Jeff's really trying to foster like this idea of people like, uh, you know, it's an event.

[00:33:02] Watch Survivor with your friends.

[00:33:03] And so, uh, he interviews, uh, this group of people who watch Survivor.

[00:33:09] Okay.

[00:33:10] And what does he learn?

[00:33:12] People, uh, watch Survivor.

[00:33:13] Jeff is actually a little bit sort of like, um, you know, mocking some of the people.

[00:33:18] Uh, I believe we have our, uh, our friend, uh, Donna is in this group.

[00:33:24] Uh, Jeff and, and she says like, uh, at once a year, me and my husband, we watch every season.

[00:33:30] He's like, okay, get a life.

[00:33:31] Like he's a little bit, I think this is pre streaming.

[00:33:40] You know what?

[00:33:41] But I don't think Jeff likes his job very much at this moment.

[00:33:46] Right?

[00:33:46] Like, don't, don't you feel like that?

[00:33:47] I feel like Jeff doesn't love his job very much in this moment of his life.

[00:33:51] Maybe.

[00:33:51] In this season of his life in, in, uh, December 2014.

[00:33:56] He doesn't seem as into it as he is now.

[00:33:58] I don't know.

[00:33:58] Yeah.

[00:33:59] Like right now.

[00:34:00] I think like he's so into it now.

[00:34:02] He's like, he's like, you know, he's like, uh, he's like the Santa Claus of reality TV.

[00:34:07] Right.

[00:34:08] He's like, uh, like I bring you gold twice a year.

[00:34:11] You know, he, he, I think he's leaned in hard on the utility that his specifically weird thing provides to the world.

[00:34:19] Yeah.

[00:34:19] I think at this moment, 10 years ago, I don't, I don't think Jeff was appreciating that.

[00:34:23] One of the guys also talks about how he's like, Jeff, I taped the show every single Thursday.

[00:34:28] And one time in college that I had a date with a girl on a Thursday and I had to tell her that, uh, I canceled.

[00:34:34] And Jeff also kind of is like, okay, what a loser.

[00:34:38] No, that guy, I think he liked that guy.

[00:34:42] He liked that guy.

[00:34:42] Doesn't he say to that guy like, now that's the guy to survivor fan we're talking about or something like that.

[00:34:48] Like, uh, bruh, if you tape it every week, just tape it.

[00:34:54] Yeah.

[00:34:55] Yeah.

[00:34:55] Yeah.

[00:34:56] You could just, you could have just taped it and gone on the date, you know, but you'll never get that live night ever again.

[00:35:02] You know, uh, those live survivor nights are gold.

[00:35:05] I guess not.

[00:35:06] Okay.

[00:35:06] Yeah.

[00:35:06] All right.

[00:35:07] So, uh, we come back for immunity challenge and, uh, Missy and Natalie quickly just hash it out.

[00:35:13] Missy also seems like she's mostly okay.

[00:35:16] She cries about it, but she's not mad at Natalie.

[00:35:18] Mm hmm.

[00:35:19] It's just like, it's like, you'll see her in a day.

[00:35:21] Yeah.

[00:35:21] You know, like you're fine.

[00:35:22] It's my kid.

[00:35:24] It's my kid.

[00:35:25] Okay.

[00:35:26] Uh, big immunity challenge.

[00:35:27] And this one is a real barn burner.

[00:35:30] Uh, it's a tough immunity challenge.

[00:35:33] Yes.

[00:35:34] Jacqueline takes a pretty bad spill also in this challenge.

[00:35:38] She drops.

[00:35:39] Yeah.

[00:35:40] She like, uh, like, uh, uh, she literally just like falls like a, like a 20 foot distance.

[00:35:47] It seems like it's a really big drop and probes like, Oh shit.

[00:35:52] Yeah.

[00:35:52] And he goes down to check it out.

[00:35:54] Jack's like, I'm good.

[00:35:56] Just a flesh wound.

[00:35:58] I'm okay.

[00:35:59] I just got to win next time.

[00:36:00] I'm good.

[00:36:00] Yeah.

[00:36:01] I mean, can you imagine that if Jacqueline was like on, like we would have had a final

[00:36:04] four with two of the four people can't even walk into tribal council.

[00:36:07] Oh my God.

[00:36:09] I mean, come on.

[00:36:10] Uh, that would be, um, awful.

[00:36:13] Absolutely awful.

[00:36:14] But somehow in some sick way, maybe kind of funny too.

[00:36:18] Yeah.

[00:36:18] And so kind of a, I don't know where this challenge, I have to say.

[00:36:21] Yeah.

[00:36:22] It was pretty epic.

[00:36:22] Uh, this is like also like a trademark of the, uh, of the twenties.

[00:36:27] I feel like sort of like they have like the big, like set piece, like final four challenge.

[00:36:32] Uh, and so ultimately Jacqueline ends up winning here and has, uh, you know, a lot of leverage,

[00:36:38] uh, in the decision-making of what goes on.

[00:36:41] Josh, uh, just as a thought exercise.

[00:36:43] Okay.

[00:36:44] This was not a thing that we did what back when we didn't know about yet about final four

[00:36:50] fire making coming to this situation.

[00:36:53] Okay.

[00:36:53] All right.

[00:36:53] Final four.

[00:36:54] Jacqueline has won the necklace.

[00:36:56] What happens in fire making a little bit of a precursor to when, uh, Natalie Anderson

[00:37:02] will win the final four, uh, challenge in survivor winners of war and have to decide what to do.

[00:37:08] What would Jacqueline do here?

[00:37:10] If Jacqueline is, uh, Hmm.

[00:37:15] I mean, I think Jacqueline, if she is looking out for her best interests brings Missy with

[00:37:21] her to the end, like, uh, like she's going to have a hard enough road against Keith, a

[00:37:25] hard enough road against Natalie.

[00:37:28] Uh, but she's going to have no trouble at all against Missy and it's fair to just let

[00:37:32] the two big dogs fight it out.

[00:37:34] Yeah.

[00:37:34] Ironically, uh, she ends up kind of in the same situation that Natalie would find herself

[00:37:37] in, in winners at war where I think she probably was like, Hey, I won the necklace.

[00:37:41] I'm going to the final three.

[00:37:43] I'm taking Missy.

[00:37:44] She's, uh, you know, not really a big threat.

[00:37:46] And then Natalie and Keith, you duke it out.

[00:37:49] And then the winner of that will win the game.

[00:37:51] Yeah.

[00:37:52] Uh, interesting.

[00:37:53] Uh, does it, uh, does it end up really impacting things in winners at war that she didn't go

[00:38:00] into fire?

[00:38:01] Like, did she have a real shot?

[00:38:03] I don't know if she had a real shot.

[00:38:05] You know, Boston Robbo was like, Hey, you did a pretty good job, but you didn't do the

[00:38:09] one thing he was supposed to do.

[00:38:11] Yeah.

[00:38:12] He says he would have done, you know, if it's Sarah Lucina and Natalie and Michelle, like

[00:38:17] is, uh, does, uh, Nat, if she knocked out Tony get a little bit more, uh, there were some

[00:38:24] like never edgers that were on the jury.

[00:38:26] I think it's closer.

[00:38:28] Yeah.

[00:38:29] Yeah.

[00:38:30] Yeah.

[00:38:31] Yeah.

[00:38:31] I think that Natalie herself kind of beats herself up over that.

[00:38:35] Oh, why didn't I make, uh, the fire against Tony?

[00:38:39] No, she shouldn't.

[00:38:41] She has such a great survivor arc.

[00:38:42] Her survivor arc is amazing.

[00:38:44] I'm not, I didn't beat her up over it.

[00:38:45] I'm just telling you that she was sad about it.

[00:38:47] I'm just saying if someone's listening to this, who knows Natalie, if she's really beating

[00:38:51] herself up, just tell her, Hey, don't.

[00:38:53] Yeah.

[00:38:53] Great.

[00:38:54] I mean, at least in the months following that of like, Oh, that could have been $2 million.

[00:38:59] It would have been nice.

[00:39:01] Would have been nice.

[00:39:01] Okay.

[00:39:02] All right.

[00:39:09] Tell about this.

[00:39:11] There's a very quick scene where, uh, Missy and Jack wouldn't talk about it in the shelter.

[00:39:17] Cause like Missy's like, I'm not here to vote out my friend, my daughter's friend, Natalie.

[00:39:23] Uh, but when Jack was like, I'm listening.

[00:39:27] I'm listening.

[00:39:28] She does like, uh, my, I heard that she wanted to vote out now that my head was like,

[00:39:34] go on.

[00:39:35] Yeah.

[00:39:36] She, don't forget.

[00:39:36] She put out my kid.

[00:39:38] Yeah.

[00:39:39] Don't forget that she's driving too.

[00:39:40] So she has the ability to swerve the car back around.

[00:39:43] Yeah.

[00:39:43] What Jack has to say.

[00:39:44] And Missy probably does a, a, a decent job here.

[00:39:48] She was like, look, you got to trust your gut.

[00:39:50] But what WWJD, what would John do?

[00:39:56] John would tell me to vote her out.

[00:39:58] That's what she says.

[00:39:59] Yeah.

[00:39:59] But it's kind of like, uh, for Missy, you're like damned.

[00:40:02] If you do damned, if you don't, because, uh, you know, Keith is going to win the game.

[00:40:06] If he gets to the final three, this feels like this footage, uh, like probably like

[00:40:11] this is all of the footage that has them like seriously considering voting Natalie out.

[00:40:17] Like, it feels like there's like no other moment beyond what we see in this like quick

[00:40:23] 45 second scene that probably immediately on the other side of this, they're like,

[00:40:28] uh, who are we kidding?

[00:40:29] We're voting out Keith.

[00:40:30] You know, like there's really no drama in this vote actually.

[00:40:33] Yep.

[00:40:34] Not a lot of time.

[00:40:35] Uh, not a ton of other drama.

[00:40:37] We're going to go.

[00:40:38] But Natalie's going to try.

[00:40:39] But when we go to tribal council, Natalie's like, maybe they should vote me out.

[00:40:42] It's possible.

[00:40:43] Cause like, I think that I, I could for sure win this game tomorrow.

[00:40:46] Absolutely.

[00:40:47] Yeah.

[00:40:47] Like, so she's like talking a big game here for whatever it's worth.

[00:40:50] Like from this moment forward, like, uh, from the time that she idols out, uh, Baylor, uh,

[00:40:56] Natalie can't help.

[00:40:57] Maybe even from the time that she gets John out of the game, it's just like, she's just

[00:41:01] like taking free throws, uh, just like nothing but net every time.

[00:41:06] Like that's how she's like trying to play this.

[00:41:08] Uh, so she's like showing off at this point to a degree.

[00:41:11] Yeah.

[00:41:11] Even poor Keith ends up voting for Missy.

[00:41:14] Like it's not even like a dramatic vote reveal.

[00:41:16] Cause the second you see that Missy vote come up that like, okay.

[00:41:20] So Keith got, got duped, uh, you know?

[00:41:23] So I don't know.

[00:41:24] It's, it's, it's, it's fine.

[00:41:26] You know, we're, we're on our way to the end.

[00:41:28] Yeah.

[00:41:28] Okay.

[00:41:29] So we, uh, see Keith get voted out and then Jeff's like, uh, shows us some footage of like,

[00:41:35] all right, I got to show you this.

[00:41:36] This is Keith Dale right after he gets voted out.

[00:41:41] And then, uh, like Jeff is like interviewing Keith nail.

[00:41:44] It's like, I don't feel like we almost never see any kind of footage like this.

[00:41:48] I don't know if they film it a lot or for whatever reason they filmed it with Keith.

[00:41:52] And, uh, they're like, uh, wow, Keith, look at you 38 days.

[00:41:57] How's it feels like, wow.

[00:41:59] If you were, if you would have told, told my friends that I was eating spa food or I went

[00:42:07] to the moon, my friend would have said Keith just went to the moon.

[00:42:11] He could not get over the spa food.

[00:42:14] Yeah.

[00:42:15] The spa food was still the thing.

[00:42:18] Yeah.

[00:42:18] Uh, I think he was like very scared of how that was going to go over back at the house.

[00:42:23] You know?

[00:42:24] Yeah.

[00:42:24] Not when he goes, goes back to the house.

[00:42:27] Yeah.

[00:42:28] He's chiefly concerned with that.

[00:42:30] Uh, and then big deep comes out.

[00:42:33] Yeah.

[00:42:34] Right.

[00:42:34] We got big D here.

[00:42:36] Yeah.

[00:42:36] Yeah.

[00:42:37] And they have big D about like, uh, all right.

[00:42:39] So what, what did you think watching Keith?

[00:42:42] And she was upset about one thing.

[00:42:44] Yeah.

[00:42:45] Yeah.

[00:42:46] He tried to, he tried to raise my son.

[00:42:49] Mm hmm.

[00:42:50] Yeah.

[00:42:50] Yeah.

[00:42:51] Or like, uh, that the, the one thing I didn't like is he told Missy how to raise it.

[00:42:55] Like, uh, you don't, you don't tell him how to raise her baby.

[00:42:59] I didn't like that.

[00:43:01] I didn't like that.

[00:43:02] Uh, so she's like Keith, she'll just give it to you straight, you know, uh, just telling

[00:43:07] you exactly how it is.

[00:43:09] Uh, so that she didn't like that.

[00:43:11] She didn't even like when Keith did that.

[00:43:13] Uh, and so she called it out and that's big D.

[00:43:17] Mm hmm.

[00:43:18] Okay.

[00:43:19] Um, Josh, anything that you want to talk about in terms of our final three now having their

[00:43:25] breakfast?

[00:43:27] No, not really.

[00:43:28] Like, uh, do we like, what is the final breakfast even look like now?

[00:43:33] They still have it.

[00:43:33] They still do the same thing.

[00:43:35] Yeah.

[00:43:35] Yeah.

[00:43:36] So is this like the thing that has changed the least about survival breakfast?

[00:43:42] Um, it's pretty similar.

[00:43:45] I don't think there's much of a change of like the end, like the, like the final day

[00:43:51] is still pretty.

[00:43:52] The final day 26 is still formatted pretty close to day 39.

[00:43:56] Yeah.

[00:43:57] Uh, obvious after the reading of the votes.

[00:44:00] Right.

[00:44:00] Right.

[00:44:01] Until that.

[00:44:01] And then obviously like even final tribal has changed in recent years.

[00:44:06] Right.

[00:44:06] Like it's become like the, the pile on as opposed to in this episode, it'll be everybody gets

[00:44:11] one beat to go up, which is what it was for so long.

[00:44:15] Yeah.

[00:44:15] So to me, I guess the only point I'm trying to make is like, is like the actual day

[00:44:20] 39 breakfast, like one of the things that they just have never really touched.

[00:44:25] Uh, it's basically that with like a couple of unique iterations.

[00:44:28] They don't really start it until when I don't even know.

[00:44:32] Is it Robin Amber have the first, uh, day 39 breakfast?

[00:44:35] Is that right?

[00:44:36] And that's what kicks it off.

[00:44:37] I think so.

[00:44:38] Like I, like, I don't think that like Jenna and Matt had a breakfast together.

[00:44:43] I didn't hear about any legendary breakfast.

[00:44:45] No, Matt almost blew the camp up.

[00:44:50] Right.

[00:44:51] Yeah.

[00:44:51] But that would imply that he had a hearty day 39 breakfast.

[00:44:56] If he almost blew the camp.

[00:44:58] Yeah.

[00:44:59] All right.

[00:45:00] So let's get to the final tribal council because, uh, it's, it's a pretty epic one.

[00:45:05] Um, it's, there's some very big moments in here.

[00:45:09] Yeah.

[00:45:10] Uh, you know, there's, there's one very famous takedown speech in here.

[00:45:16] Um, there's like, you know, like, uh, some things that I'd forgotten were like Keith's

[00:45:22] question just kind of basically being like, why'd y'all have to do that?

[00:45:26] Yeah.

[00:45:26] I just didn't like the line.

[00:45:28] Why?

[00:45:28] I didn't like that.

[00:45:29] Yeah.

[00:45:29] It's like, well, uh, it's the show.

[00:45:33] It is the show.

[00:45:35] Uh, and so he's like, well, I don't think I liked that part.

[00:45:38] Yeah.

[00:45:38] So just that Natalie answers him and he's like, well, I know that you got to do what you

[00:45:43] got to do, but I just hate, I hate the constant line.

[00:45:46] I know it's part of the game, but I went through this half of the game without an alliance, without

[00:45:50] lying, without, without, until it falls down to it.

[00:45:53] I just don't know what to say.

[00:45:54] That's the way I look at it.

[00:45:56] That's the way I look at it.

[00:45:57] Yeah.

[00:45:58] That's the best part.

[00:45:59] That's the way I look at it.

[00:46:00] We got that Keith.

[00:46:01] Yeah.

[00:46:01] Yeah.

[00:46:02] You didn't like that part.

[00:46:03] That's the way he looks at it.

[00:46:04] Yeah.

[00:46:05] I feel like John Mish could have done more to pump up Jacqueline.

[00:46:08] Uh, he was as John Mish as possible.

[00:46:11] You know, like he just kind of shows up.

[00:46:14] Yeah.

[00:46:15] Good job.

[00:46:16] You did it.

[00:46:18] Yeah.

[00:46:18] So like, I think you could have like done a little better there.

[00:46:21] Yeah.

[00:46:22] Uh, can I say that something that, um, I, I, I don't know how I reacted in the real time

[00:46:28] to this, but I have to say that Baylor talking to Missy, uh, really like, uh, low.

[00:46:37] Uh, I thought was very touching.

[00:46:40] Wow.

[00:46:40] Rob.

[00:46:41] Yeah.

[00:46:42] I can't imagine that you had this reaction in the moment.

[00:46:44] I, I don't know.

[00:46:45] I doubt that I did, but just watching it.

[00:46:48] Um, the fact that she, I mean, she doesn't even try to like plead for, um, her mom to get any

[00:46:57] votes, but she basically just like makes the like analog of like, you know, basically I feel

[00:47:03] like our whole lives, like we've just been like hobbling on one leg trying to get through this

[00:47:09] whole thing.

[00:47:10] And, um, you know, we've been, we've been through it all together, all these men coming in and out

[00:47:16] of our lives being blindsided and you know, uh, you got to the final three.

[00:47:22] I'm so proud of you.

[00:47:23] I love you.

[00:47:24] Like, uh, that was to me, like just, uh, I don't know, maybe just watching it like as a,

[00:47:29] as a parent now.

[00:47:31] Yeah.

[00:47:31] Yeah.

[00:47:32] Yeah.

[00:47:32] I think it's probably a good amount of that.

[00:47:35] And like being able to maybe imagine like yourself in similar situation, right?

[00:47:40] Like something like that would be such like an incredible thing to bring home.

[00:47:43] I just feel like that the whole season is about like Missy, like my kid, don't go to my kid.

[00:47:50] Like, uh, you know, it's so much about like Missy and like for Baylor to say like, mom, I'm,

[00:47:55] I'm proud of you.

[00:47:55] You did look at, look at you on one leg.

[00:47:57] You got to the end.

[00:47:58] Like, uh, this was like a great accomplishment.

[00:48:00] She's not like, and this is why my mom should win everybody.

[00:48:04] Right.

[00:48:05] She wasn't even politicking for a vote.

[00:48:07] She wasn't trying to take down Natalie.

[00:48:08] She was just like, uh, you know, mom, I'm really proud of you.

[00:48:11] And it's just, it's always been just us.

[00:48:13] And it's always going to be just us.

[00:48:15] And we have this special relationship.

[00:48:16] I just thought it was very nice.

[00:48:17] It's very sweet.

[00:48:19] And I think that that's got to be a very happy memory that they have, or at least it could

[00:48:22] have been, uh, if not for the fact that, oh my God, that's Kelly's music.

[00:48:28] Yes.

[00:48:29] You know, that's coming up.

[00:48:30] Missy.

[00:48:31] Although Missy has a weird, she says, uh, uh, she says, love you, babe.

[00:48:35] The, that's the best hug I've ever had right there.

[00:48:38] I'll take it.

[00:48:39] And I had to go back.

[00:48:40] I'm like, wait, did she get a hug?

[00:48:41] Like, why?

[00:48:42] Why?

[00:48:42] No.

[00:48:43] Yeah.

[00:48:43] No, the words, the words were a hug.

[00:48:45] Words were the hug.

[00:48:46] Yeah.

[00:48:47] Yeah.

[00:48:49] Okay.

[00:48:50] Um, that's what she got.

[00:48:51] We have, we have like a Wes.

[00:48:53] Also, I was tickled by Wes's, uh, question.

[00:48:56] He just looked like he was on like laughing gas the whole time.

[00:49:00] And Wes goes up there and he's just like, oh, what a great experience we all had here

[00:49:04] together.

[00:49:04] Isn't it cool.

[00:49:05] We played survivor with our family.

[00:49:06] Tell me what that felt like for you.

[00:49:08] And that's it.

[00:49:09] He's just like, yeah.

[00:49:10] What was it like playing with your loved one?

[00:49:12] Was this question?

[00:49:13] Can I just, can I just say at least this one last time, Rob?

[00:49:17] Well, this is a good boy.

[00:49:19] You know, he hasn't been to jail.

[00:49:21] He's got good questions.

[00:49:23] What a sweet, gentle, final impression to leave on this season.

[00:49:27] It's like, God, I really love playing with my dad.

[00:49:29] How did you guys like it?

[00:49:31] Did you like playing with your loved ones?

[00:49:32] I thought that was sweet.

[00:49:33] Yeah.

[00:49:33] I thought that was nice.

[00:49:34] Jeremy's like statement.

[00:49:37] Jeremy's so great.

[00:49:38] He was like, I'm not even, don't be mad.

[00:49:40] Natalie, Natalie did it.

[00:49:42] There's nothing to say.

[00:49:43] I'm not mad at any of you at all.

[00:49:44] Natalie did great.

[00:49:46] That's it.

[00:49:46] She bowed out.

[00:49:47] I don't even have any questions.

[00:49:47] I don't even need anything.

[00:49:48] He says.

[00:49:49] He says he doesn't need any questions answered.

[00:49:51] Yeah.

[00:49:52] He's got it.

[00:49:52] He's good.

[00:49:53] He's just there to be like, just vote for Natalie.

[00:49:55] Mm hmm.

[00:49:56] Okay.

[00:49:56] All right.

[00:49:57] Now, the one that is the most epic.

[00:50:00] And I think that has aged particularly well, Josh.

[00:50:03] I feel like that in the moment, in like on the night, I think that people were not necessarily

[00:50:10] feeling Reed's speech.

[00:50:12] Yeah.

[00:50:13] To Missy.

[00:50:15] Well, yes, of course.

[00:50:17] I guess what I'm on the edge of my seat is right now is like when you say it's aged particularly

[00:50:22] well, do you think that the people who love this season, like really love this as an ending

[00:50:28] to Missy's story?

[00:50:32] I don't know.

[00:50:32] I think that people like that.

[00:50:34] Okay.

[00:50:34] We don't get stuff like this anymore.

[00:50:35] It's very like catty and petty.

[00:50:37] And it's like, it's like giving like old school reality television.

[00:50:42] And I think that like for the people who want to like make Survivor great again, like I

[00:50:47] feel like we don't get stuff like this anymore.

[00:50:50] Sure.

[00:50:50] Sure.

[00:50:51] Yeah.

[00:50:51] Like it is like a savage a moment as this show produces.

[00:50:56] And I have to say, like listening to it back, like I kind of feel like that Reed, he kind

[00:51:03] of ate on this one.

[00:51:04] And he did.

[00:51:05] He did.

[00:51:06] I kind of feel like he wasn't really wrong or off base either.

[00:51:10] What do you have it?

[00:51:11] Did you clip this out?

[00:51:12] Yeah.

[00:51:12] This is from the whole clip.

[00:51:15] It's like three minutes long so we could like listen in.

[00:51:20] Ladies, just a few things before we close tonight.

[00:51:23] Actually, you know, let's skip ahead to when he gets.

[00:51:25] Yeah.

[00:51:26] So he starts is like, Natalie, you're so good at this.

[00:51:31] Jacqueline, you're so great.

[00:51:33] Yeah.

[00:51:33] Okay.

[00:51:33] But Missy.

[00:51:35] You cast yourself as the motherly figure.

[00:51:38] However, fans of classic literary fiction will see through very quickly to who your true

[00:51:43] character was.

[00:51:44] Josh, are you a fan of classic literary fiction?

[00:51:48] Are you even a fan?

[00:51:53] Yeah.

[00:51:55] I'm a big fan of the modern classic American literary fiction known as the White Lotus.

[00:52:03] Okay.

[00:52:03] All right.

[00:52:04] Here we go.

[00:52:05] The fans of the classic literary fiction will know Missy instantly.

[00:52:11] Which is the wicked stepmother, really, of the tribe.

[00:52:14] It's the eccentric woman who comes in and makes demands of everyone for the things to

[00:52:19] which she feels so entitled.

[00:52:21] You know, she spoils her children by perhaps giving them more rice at dinner or the best

[00:52:26] places to sleep.

[00:52:27] He's on 1X.

[00:52:28] Reed is really racing through this.

[00:52:30] He's going, he's, he, but you know what?

[00:52:33] But he's taking his time.

[00:52:35] He's like luxuriating in the kill.

[00:52:38] In Dungeons and Dragons, often this is popularized by critical role.

[00:52:43] DM Matt Mercer, when somebody gets the final blow against a bad guy says, how would you like

[00:52:48] to do this?

[00:52:49] And what you're supposed to do is vividly describe the kill, make it a really cool epic moment

[00:52:54] for your character.

[00:52:55] Someone told Reed, like, how do you want to do this?

[00:52:58] And this is how he's killing Missy on Survivor.

[00:53:01] In the shelter, she takes things that she's either not entitled to or didn't earn herself,

[00:53:08] which was always evidenced by the fact that you got more gimmies in this game than anyone

[00:53:12] and performed the worst out of anyone at challenges.

[00:53:16] Let's just do some live fact checking.

[00:53:17] Did Missy get more gimmies than anybody else?

[00:53:24] Okay.

[00:53:25] Well, she certainly was part of the gimme-est tribe in Survivor history, Hunapu, according

[00:53:34] to Jeff Probst.

[00:53:35] So she's part of a group of very gimme players.

[00:53:39] But was she the gimme-est?

[00:53:42] Gimme Gappenberg?

[00:53:43] I don't know.

[00:53:44] Yeah.

[00:53:45] Okay.

[00:53:46] All right.

[00:53:47] All right.

[00:53:48] Here we go.

[00:53:48] Lastly, you made the quintessential wicked stepmother move by abusing the help, which

[00:53:56] in this case was the minority alliances throughout the game.

[00:53:59] You always made sure they felt inferior.

[00:54:01] You always kept them in their place.

[00:54:03] And you always made it eminently clear that they weren't coming to the ball that is the

[00:54:07] tribal council here this evening with you.

[00:54:09] So that to me feels like your fatal flaw in your whole plan.

[00:54:13] Because unlike life, in the game of Survivor, the outcasts are the one who get the final

[00:54:19] say.

[00:54:21] So in a sweeping moment of poetic justice, the people to which you were so rude and terrible

[00:54:27] to before relegating them to the jury with the help of your alliance are going to decide

[00:54:33] your fate this evening.

[00:54:35] This is why I love fairy tales.

[00:54:38] Because they always have a happy ending.

[00:54:40] And the wicked stepmother never wins.

[00:54:44] Not.

[00:54:45] Back then.

[00:54:45] Good luck.

[00:54:48] Okay.

[00:54:49] Well, that was a lively final tribal for sure.

[00:54:53] Hey.

[00:54:54] This is what comes with making it to the final three.

[00:54:57] A jury who's going to make you earn it every step of the way.

[00:55:00] Baylor.

[00:55:01] Don't worry about it.

[00:55:03] Stop.

[00:55:05] She very like, uh, Missy's like, don't worry about it.

[00:55:08] And she, like, he nails like, all right, all right, all right.

[00:55:11] She's like, stop.

[00:55:12] She goes, stop.

[00:55:13] I need to breathe.

[00:55:16] Where to begin?

[00:55:17] Where to truly begin with any of this?

[00:55:21] It's, uh, it's, it's so savage.

[00:55:25] It would be savage.

[00:55:26] It would be savage in any context of Survivor.

[00:55:29] But, gosh, to do it on a blood versus water season with your daughter right there.

[00:55:36] Uh, after, after her daughter has just like given this, to your point, this, it's like, it is, it is like overkill.

[00:55:44] It's like.

[00:55:45] The joy turned to ash in her mouth.

[00:55:47] Stop.

[00:55:48] Stop.

[00:55:49] She's already dead.

[00:55:50] You know, it's so much.

[00:55:52] Yeah.

[00:55:53] It's so hardcore.

[00:55:55] And then also, uh, we get in the, like the reaction to that in the reunion show.

[00:56:01] Like, I, I think it was, uh, uh, particularly stinging for Missy because she actually is a stepmother.

[00:56:09] And Reed says, oh, I didn't really know that.

[00:56:11] And so, uh, and Jeff says, all right, Reed, you want to apologize?

[00:56:14] He's like, he's like, not really stand by what I said.

[00:56:17] He says, not really.

[00:56:19] Uh, yeah, he does.

[00:56:20] He ultimately does the same thing.

[00:56:22] And that's always one of my qualms with the, uh, the players that, you know, the reunion show is such a great opportunity.

[00:56:28] You can really do almost anything in this final tribal council.

[00:56:32] And then when at the reunion show, Jeff is always going to give you the opportunity of like, hey, but that was back there.

[00:56:38] That was the heat of the moment.

[00:56:39] Like, but, uh, you guys are cool now.

[00:56:41] And it's like such a dud when, uh, throughout survivor history, I'm not singling out, uh, whether it's like Robin, big Tom or, you know, uh, you know, Shireen and will, or like, there's all these opportunities where like, Hey, but you guys are good now.

[00:56:59] Right.

[00:57:00] Like, uh, it's just like, it's the simplest thing in the world.

[00:57:02] You could lie.

[00:57:03] It's like, yeah, that was like, uh, we're cool.

[00:57:07] Like everybody wants to see like, okay, you know, this was, we had our phone.

[00:57:11] And we were not left on a sour note.

[00:57:15] Who is that good for though?

[00:57:16] You know, uh, if you're Reed, is that good for survivor or is that good for Reed?

[00:57:21] You know, is it good for Reed to be like, Oh yeah, you know, I take it all back.

[00:57:25] Uh, it's good for, you know, back.

[00:57:27] It's like, Oh, Missy's cool.

[00:57:29] Like, uh, you know, we're good now.

[00:57:31] Like, it's just such an awkward moment.

[00:57:33] How do you possibly ever be cool with this person ever again after a moment like this?

[00:57:39] I think that this is like one of those moments in survivor history that like, you can't uncross

[00:57:45] this line.

[00:57:46] Uh, like maybe now, maybe today they could have a laugh about it.

[00:57:51] I don't know where they are in their lives, but like months later and especially like,

[00:57:56] like minutes after it's aired live for the world.

[00:58:01] But Josh also like earlier in this very reunion show, like we are propping up Josh and Reed

[00:58:07] as vessels of Christ earlier in this very same show.

[00:58:10] So for the sake of the branding that we could say like, uh, like, yeah, like, uh, you know

[00:58:18] what, uh, that, uh, that this was bad.

[00:58:21] Uh, you know, uh, I, I got a little too excited, Missy.

[00:58:23] I'm so, uh, sorry about that.

[00:58:26] Yeah.

[00:58:26] Yeah.

[00:58:27] No, uh, he, he doesn't have it in him.

[00:58:31] That's, that is how deep his ire towards Missy goes.

[00:58:35] He won't walk it back.

[00:58:37] It's his signature move.

[00:58:38] He's not walking back his signature move.

[00:58:41] Okay.

[00:58:41] Uh, Reed, Reed Kelly.

[00:58:43] Uh, you, uh, lived long enough to see yourself become the villain here at the final tribal

[00:58:48] council.

[00:58:48] It's a wild speech.

[00:58:50] Very, very, very riveting TV.

[00:58:53] Yeah.

[00:58:53] By the way, uh, Reed still looks great.

[00:58:57] Yeah.

[00:58:58] I don't know if you've seen him recently.

[00:59:00] What's Reed got going on?

[00:59:02] A lot.

[00:59:03] Well, what does this mean?

[00:59:04] Um, do your research.

[00:59:08] Oh no, he's busy.

[00:59:10] I'm too late Larry on this one.

[00:59:11] And I think that's fine.

[00:59:12] He's a busy guy.

[00:59:13] Yeah.

[00:59:13] Um, okay.

[00:59:15] All right.

[00:59:15] I got it.

[00:59:16] I got it.

[00:59:17] Picking up what you're putting down.

[00:59:18] Hard worker.

[00:59:19] Okay.

[00:59:20] Great.

[00:59:20] Whoa.

[00:59:21] Oh boy.

[00:59:21] Okay.

[00:59:22] Yep.

[00:59:23] Very hard.

[00:59:24] Yeah.

[00:59:24] I figured it out.

[00:59:25] I figured it out.

[00:59:26] Yes.

[00:59:27] They did too.

[00:59:27] Okay.

[00:59:28] Josh, let's go cut to the live reunion show.

[00:59:31] Oh yeah.

[00:59:33] We got votes.

[00:59:34] We've got votes.

[00:59:36] Uh, the only thing we haven't written like, you know, like Jacqueline fights decently.

[00:59:39] Well, Natalie, the whole time keeps being like, yeah, I was the best one here.

[00:59:43] I think I, uh, dance circles around these guys.

[00:59:45] And so we get to the final tribal, uh, we get to the, to the reunion part of the final

[00:59:49] tribal and there are no surprises in the votes.

[00:59:52] Uh, the only surprise maybe is Reed voting for Jacqueline.

[00:59:57] Then you think about it for half a second longer.

[00:59:59] Uh, and he just wanted to make sure that Missy was clearly third place.

[01:00:04] Like he wanted to cleanly make sure that his vote made it that Missy was third place.

[01:00:10] That's not a vote for Jacqueline.

[01:00:11] That's a vote against, uh, Missy for sure.

[01:00:14] Yeah.

[01:00:15] Okay.

[01:00:16] Um, all right.

[01:00:20] So let's talk about the reunion show.

[01:00:23] So yeah, it happens, you know, um, I don't know, like not terribly eventful.

[01:00:30] Jeff's a little weird here.

[01:00:32] Uh, like in a couple of specific ways.

[01:00:35] Um, but one of the specific ways that Jeff is really weird here is plus we're going to

[01:00:40] check in on the status of John and Jacqueline.

[01:00:43] Are they still together?

[01:00:44] It's like, were we left with any real reason to think they're not like, why are you framing

[01:00:49] it this way?

[01:00:50] Yeah.

[01:00:51] And then like, you know, in the end he's like, so are you still together?

[01:00:54] I was like, yeah, dude, we got engaged.

[01:00:56] Well, they had a fight.

[01:00:57] We had one fight.

[01:00:59] We had a single fight.

[01:01:01] I voted for her.

[01:01:02] Yeah.

[01:01:03] I said, I love you.

[01:01:04] Mm-hmm.

[01:01:06] What are you trying to do here?

[01:01:07] So like, that was weird.

[01:01:09] That like, that fits very neatly in the, uh, describe love to me version of Jeff Probst

[01:01:15] that he currently is in this season.

[01:01:17] Um, do you have any, uh, specific memories of being in the building that night?

[01:01:21] Uh, I was, uh, I, I found myself.

[01:01:24] I wears Waldo to myself.

[01:01:25] You can wears Waldo me very easily.

[01:01:27] Did you have good seats or not?

[01:01:28] I had, uh, I had, I had the nosebleeds.

[01:01:32] Uh, I was very far in the back.

[01:01:33] Uh, I'm, I'm like back, like almost the very back row in the center section towards the

[01:01:41] right.

[01:01:41] And you see me like fist pumping and doing stuff like that a couple of times.

[01:01:46] Um, I remember, uh, I, I just, I don't think really much from this one.

[01:01:52] The biggest, uh, memories are to come.

[01:01:55] Uh, my San Juan del Sur, like in the building memories are a lot more scattered, uh, because

[01:02:01] they're like overshadowed by some other stuff that happens around this time.

[01:02:05] But like starting with next season and like the second chance reveal, uh, you know, that's

[01:02:10] a, that's a, from, from there on, I feel like I really remembered the reunions pretty

[01:02:14] distinctly, including the first ever see a award, which was terrifying.

[01:02:19] Okay.

[01:02:19] Horrifying moment.

[01:02:20] Horrifying moment.

[01:02:21] Yeah.

[01:02:22] All right.

[01:02:23] Um, anything else from the reunion show you want to highlight?

[01:02:29] Um, well, the, he, the high.

[01:02:31] It's worlds apart, right?

[01:02:33] Like he's like, Hey, well, okay.

[01:02:35] But so we spent, we spent a lot of, so they really kind of, uh, yada, yada, like this

[01:02:40] finale for Jeff to really, he's so excited about season 30 and, uh, he is going to, uh,

[01:02:46] like hype up the no collar, uh, white collar, no collar, blue collar.

[01:02:52] Um, and then we'll bring up like randos from the audience, uh, that will speak to you.

[01:02:59] You think they were, uh, industry plants.

[01:03:02] Are they randos?

[01:03:04] Just feel like sniffing out with me, Rob.

[01:03:07] First of all, the white collar guy.

[01:03:09] So, so, so he plays the trailer, the world's apart trailer.

[01:03:13] And Jeff says, all right, let's do a little experiment.

[01:03:17] Who here identifies as white collar?

[01:03:19] You over there, come up here.

[01:03:21] This guy could not have gotten there like faster.

[01:03:23] Like he knew his mark and he knew they were like crunched for time.

[01:03:26] He had to get his lines out at a specific time.

[01:03:29] Um, this guy who he then says, who's blue collar?

[01:03:32] And this guy shows up and he's like, yeah, blue collar.

[01:03:35] I'm very proud of my job.

[01:03:36] And, uh, yeah, I love my job.

[01:03:37] I'm very proud to be a blue collar.

[01:03:38] This was like the backdoor pilot for tough as nails.

[01:03:42] And then it just so happens, Rob, that right next to Jeff Probst, uh, is a no collar.

[01:03:51] Young, attractive, no collar woman.

[01:03:53] Young, attractive, no collar.

[01:03:55] So I don't think that they were.

[01:03:56] You're a no collar, aren't you?

[01:03:58] I don't think that they were industry plants.

[01:04:00] I think that they might've just like price is right style.

[01:04:04] Like, you know, prime the audience.

[01:04:06] Like the warmup guy asked for, because that the no collar guy is not word perfect with

[01:04:13] some of his answers.

[01:04:15] No, no.

[01:04:17] They ask about like, what does it mean to be like a no, like, are you proud of being

[01:04:21] it?

[01:04:21] And then he's like, uh, he gives an answer.

[01:04:22] Like, well, I think that'll ask this guy questions more than like this guy just kind

[01:04:26] of offers it up.

[01:04:27] Like there's a little bit more of a back and forth with, with these two.

[01:04:31] Yeah.

[01:04:31] Okay.

[01:04:31] But how did we employ people?

[01:04:34] Yeah.

[01:04:34] You know, how did we feel in the moment?

[01:04:37] Josh.

[01:04:37] Now, do you remember that we did a podcast?

[01:04:40] You and I, right after the San Juan del Sur finale.

[01:04:46] Uh, that totally tracks, uh, that same night.

[01:04:50] No, I believe it was probably the next day.

[01:04:53] Right.

[01:04:53] Yes.

[01:04:53] Do you remember any of the details about this?

[01:04:56] This was a great tradition where I would, uh, I would come to Los Angeles for one of these

[01:05:01] reunions and either, uh, you were on the carpet as well.

[01:05:05] And even if you weren't, uh, we would typically like meet up the next day and do a recap of

[01:05:11] the reunions.

[01:05:12] I'm glad that those exist.

[01:05:13] Cause then that means the record reflects whatever happened that night.

[01:05:17] The record reflects.

[01:05:18] Now, do you recall that, uh, we did not record this podcast in my home?

[01:05:23] Where did we record it?

[01:05:24] We recorded from the studios of podcast one.

[01:05:28] Podcast one.

[01:05:29] Of course.

[01:05:30] Absolutely.

[01:05:31] Yes.

[01:05:32] Yes.

[01:05:32] This was our first ever, uh, in person interview.

[01:05:36] I do not believe that it's the case.

[01:05:39] I believe that we, I believe we spoke in person.

[01:05:42] I believe we did a podcast in person during survivor Kageon.

[01:05:46] That is correct.

[01:05:47] Yes.

[01:05:48] Okay.

[01:05:48] So this is our second in person ever podcast, uh, is at podcast one.

[01:05:53] Yet we had worked, uh, about nine or 10 seasons into the evolution of strategy.

[01:05:57] I can, I can, I can visualize that room.

[01:06:00] Can you see the room?

[01:06:01] Yes.

[01:06:02] Yes.

[01:06:02] Yeah.

[01:06:03] We're on like, kind of like a long table.

[01:06:05] Yeah.

[01:06:06] Podcast one studio.

[01:06:07] But we were on like the, like the short, like sides of the table.

[01:06:10] So like, uh, we were still like kind of like, it wasn't like Bruce Wayne and Vicki Vale.

[01:06:15] Like we were just across the table.

[01:06:17] It was like kind of a long table.

[01:06:19] Yeah.

[01:06:19] It's stable.

[01:06:19] Yes.

[01:06:20] Okay.

[01:06:20] So, uh, just to give some backstory.

[01:06:22] Um, so I came on and I said, wow, what a great finale.

[01:06:26] And Steven Fishback, uh, said that no, it was not.

[01:06:30] I called it a phenomenal finale on the night of the finale.

[01:06:32] Steven said, I can't wait to disagree with you.

[01:06:35] He said, uh, that the final tribal council was bad.

[01:06:38] He said the questions were boring.

[01:06:40] The speeches were boring.

[01:06:41] Uh, or he said the answer were boring.

[01:06:43] The speeches were mumbly.

[01:06:45] Hmm.

[01:06:46] The speeches were mumbly.

[01:06:48] Um, look, Jeremy's speech is a little mumbly.

[01:06:51] Uh, I feel like, uh, you know, there's really nothing to write home about with Alec here.

[01:06:58] Alec is just fishing for compliments.

[01:07:00] Wes is an inoffensive good boy.

[01:07:04] Keith's a little bit, you know, unstructured, but I think all of it is, uh, probably made

[01:07:10] up for with the exemplary, if offensive, but exemplary, uh, public speaking from, from

[01:07:16] Reed Kelly.

[01:07:17] Like that is as put together, uh, final tribal speeches I've ever heard content, not withstanding.

[01:07:23] Okay.

[01:07:23] So let me give you some of the, the, in the real time, this is what we're saying.

[01:07:27] So you said that, uh, fishback has a lot of anger to get over and is a Scrooge McDuck.

[01:07:34] Yeah.

[01:07:34] Wow.

[01:07:35] Uh, 10 years later, I feel exactly the same.

[01:07:38] Yeah.

[01:07:39] And so, uh, you, you liked the finale despite what Steven had to say.

[01:07:43] You said the crowd was with Keith and Natalie.

[01:07:46] The crowd went wild.

[01:07:48] Yeah, of course.

[01:07:49] Yes.

[01:07:49] They were with Keith and Natalie.

[01:07:50] Um, you said that there was a lot of reaction to Reed speech, but you missed quite a bit

[01:07:54] of it that I missed the speech itself.

[01:07:57] That would track, uh, because really it's, you know, not dissimilar to a live RHAP viewing

[01:08:05] of the survivor episode, except it's like the official fricking finale.

[01:08:09] So like those pops in the room, they really explode.

[01:08:13] Uh, so like the experience you're getting at the finale is like you're at the finale, but

[01:08:17] as a means to like really process and analyze the episode and like really appreciate the

[01:08:23] episode, maybe not as much, uh, maybe not as much.

[01:08:26] Yeah.

[01:08:26] You also said, uh, that, uh, the big winner of the night was whom?

[01:08:33] Ooh, who was the big winner of the night?

[01:08:34] Was it Austin Russell?

[01:08:35] Yes.

[01:08:35] You said that he got the biggest laugh when he said to Jeff, you're welcome.

[01:08:39] You're welcome.

[01:08:40] You're welcome.

[01:08:41] Uh, uh, Austin Russell.

[01:08:44] I still can't, I can't get over this, that Austin Russell designs a challenge as, but a

[01:08:51] 11 year old boy.

[01:08:53] Uh, it makes it onto survivor 29 and by survivor 43, he's a dream teamer.

[01:09:00] Yeah.

[01:09:00] It's incredible.

[01:09:01] Big, big winner.

[01:09:02] Incredible story.

[01:09:03] Yeah.

[01:09:04] Okay.

[01:09:04] What if he's listening to this right now?

[01:09:07] Austin.

[01:09:08] Shout out Austin.

[01:09:09] Shout out my dog.

[01:09:10] At the crib.

[01:09:11] Yep.

[01:09:11] Shout out to my dog.

[01:09:12] Okay.

[01:09:13] Wiggler agreed with Steven about Jeremy's speech being blah.

[01:09:17] It was a little, but I think like, uh, knowing more about Jeremy now, it's really funny.

[01:09:22] Yeah.

[01:09:23] Uh, like this not being Jeremy's final note on survivor.

[01:09:27] Uh, like if this had been Jeremy's final note on survivor, I don't know how often like

[01:09:31] we're talking about this, you know, like, I don't think you like remember him in the

[01:09:35] same way.

[01:09:35] Okay.

[01:09:36] Um, at the after party.

[01:09:38] So I guess I did go to an after party.

[01:09:40] Spencer told Rob, he's going to Vita yoga with Vitas and Wiggler said, Oh no, a whole

[01:09:44] disaster.

[01:09:45] A whole disaster.

[01:09:46] Yeah.

[01:09:48] Okay.

[01:09:48] I mean, that feels that if anything feels more so now.

[01:09:52] Mm hmm.

[01:09:52] Yeah.

[01:09:53] Uh, Rob got the feeling that Jeff didn't like Natalie as a winner.

[01:09:57] I think, I think, do you still feel that way or is it more about the season?

[01:10:01] Well, I think he came around on her eventually, but what I said at the time, and I said, I

[01:10:06] think there's some truth to this that he didn't like her as a winner because she was adopted.

[01:10:12] She was an amazing race person who they brought into survivor and was not a, you know, an original

[01:10:20] survivor.

[01:10:20] So Jeff, I'd like could not wait to get to worlds apart.

[01:10:23] Like in very few ways was Natalie on survivor because Jeff would have wanted it that way.

[01:10:30] Right.

[01:10:30] Like, you know, it's like you have to have someone from one of our CBS reality families

[01:10:34] on, on survivor this year, like the way you had Hayden on, you have to do that.

[01:10:38] And it's going to be the twenties.

[01:10:40] He's like, Oh, you know, like that's probably it.

[01:10:42] And then one of them goes on to win.

[01:10:44] I don't think he can appreciate necessarily in the moment that like, it's a pretty impressive

[01:10:48] win.

[01:10:48] Um, but I think really the bigger thing is like, he just is really kind of down on this

[01:10:53] season.

[01:10:53] He just really doesn't like, um, so I don't know if this is a true or Danielle is playing

[01:10:58] with the historical record.

[01:10:59] She says after calling himself a fan of the season and noting it's in the top 15 for him,

[01:11:04] Wiggler said he likes this season and would go on a date with it in downtown Orlando.

[01:11:09] Oh, that doesn't feel like something I would, does that not track?

[01:11:14] Uh, it tracks is something I certainly could have said.

[01:11:18] Uh, does it track as like, I don't, I don't think so.

[01:11:22] I don't think so.

[01:11:23] I don't think that I would take San Juan del Sur on a date, Rob.

[01:11:27] Mm-hmm.

[01:11:27] I, I think I would marry San Juan del Sur.

[01:11:30] I think I would marry San Juan del Sur.

[01:11:32] Yes.

[01:11:33] I think like, uh, like if you checked in on my relationship status 10 years later and

[01:11:38] Josh and San Juan del Sur's relationship, are they still together?

[01:11:42] Find out on the other side of this commercial.

[01:11:44] I think you'd find out I got engaged to San Juan del Sur.

[01:11:48] Sure.

[01:11:48] Mm-hmm.

[01:11:49] I only love it more.

[01:11:51] Okay.

[01:11:51] Uh, Josh, do you have any highlights from your interviews with, uh, the players?

[01:11:55] No, I should have pulled some of that up.

[01:11:58] I do, I do remember, uh, just in like the continued, uh, hunt for headlines.

[01:12:03] Uh, and how did I enjoy my headlines that I wrote back then, uh, versus, uh, versus now?

[01:12:10] And so to pull up the Natalie Anderson one, uh, I believe I, I really enjoyed this, uh, because

[01:12:18] my Nadia, my Nadia article was called First Blood, like Rambo.

[01:12:24] Yes.

[01:12:25] I called this one Final Blood.

[01:12:27] And I thought that was cool.

[01:12:30] That's, that's all I really remember about that.

[01:12:32] I, you know, I used to get so scared on red carpets and like, I was not confident enough

[01:12:37] as like a reporter yet.

[01:12:39] Even then, I think I'm like 20, I think I'm 29 years old here, uh, at this moment in time

[01:12:45] that maths correctly.

[01:12:46] Uh, so yeah, I would have been like, I would have been like still pretty starstruck.

[01:12:50] Yeah.

[01:12:51] I think like, I had like, I had done One World, I had done Kageyan and Kageyan was a

[01:12:56] really cool one.

[01:12:57] And this was at the end of like the first season of covering it super regularly on Exit

[01:13:02] Press.

[01:13:03] Like, I think I was probably really starstruck.

[01:13:05] Uh, I, I remember like being like really starstruck to talk to Natalie.

[01:13:10] Uh, I remember feeling like pretty excited that I was having a conversation with Keith

[01:13:15] Nail.

[01:13:16] Uh, so I have fond memories of it for sure.

[01:13:19] A year later, you and I would be talking to Keith Nail in person.

[01:13:22] Yeah.

[01:13:23] Uh huh.

[01:13:23] That's right.

[01:13:24] Yeah.

[01:13:25] Okay.

[01:13:25] I would be talking to him in, in May of, uh, 2015.

[01:13:29] You spent a lot of time with Keith Nail in, uh, the upcoming 2015.

[01:13:33] Okay.

[01:13:33] So, uh, Joshua, by the way, my takes, uh, I feel like, you know, age like fine wine as

[01:13:39] opposed to.

[01:13:40] I think so.

[01:13:41] That's okay.

[01:13:42] Uh, Rob called the Baylor blindside.

[01:13:44] Uh, Stephen acknowledged that Natalie was a great winner and the Baylor blindside was

[01:13:49] special, but to know the whole finale was bad.

[01:13:51] You Rob stood his ground according to Josh green and said that it was a great finale all

[01:13:56] the way through.

[01:13:56] And Natalie was an excellent winner.

[01:13:58] Rob said that the Baylor blindside is one of the biggest moves in the history of the

[01:14:01] show.

[01:14:03] In the history of the show up to that point.

[01:14:05] Maybe.

[01:14:06] You don't, you don't think so that it's one of the biggest moves in the history of the

[01:14:10] show.

[01:14:11] Natalie playing the idol for Jacqueline.

[01:14:14] It's, it's definitely up there.

[01:14:15] Like if you're going to, if you're going to like draw up, okay, well, is it doing this

[01:14:18] along the way?

[01:14:19] Right.

[01:14:19] Is it top 20?

[01:14:21] Um, I don't think it's top 20.

[01:14:24] Hmm.

[01:14:25] If it is, then I feel like that you are, uh, like, uh, I feel like historically such a big

[01:14:29] fan of this, honestly, I don't know.

[01:14:32] I'm just trying to think of like all the big moves that I don't remember from like 40

[01:14:36] onward.

[01:14:37] This is a good idea.

[01:14:40] Okay.

[01:14:41] Uh, 25th anniversary, the biggest 25 moves in the history of survivor.

[01:14:48] That's really it.

[01:14:49] That's really it.

[01:14:49] Like I need to just like get reacquainted with it.

[01:14:52] And I'm looking at the comments right now.

[01:14:54] Hang on a second.

[01:14:55] Like I see Sasha's here.

[01:14:57] I see Christian Hugh Bickey is here right now and I'm getting, uh, this is why Rob is

[01:15:02] my bestie.

[01:15:03] Absolutely.

[01:15:03] I, this was the move that made me fall madly in love with Natalie Anderson.

[01:15:08] No doubt.

[01:15:09] Absolutely.

[01:15:10] Uh, and I was very enamored of this moment for quite some time and rewatching it today

[01:15:15] was still as enamored of that moment as I was then.

[01:15:19] I just don't know.

[01:15:19] I don't really, I like this 20, 25 biggest moves, Josh of 25 years of survivor.

[01:15:26] I'd be curious to look at this.

[01:15:28] Uh, I would, I need to get reacquainted with a lot of this.

[01:15:31] What do we do?

[01:15:32] Is it a series of videos?

[01:15:35] We drop one podcast a week, whatever.

[01:15:38] Let's workshop it offline, but I think it's a fun idea.

[01:15:41] You've never done like, we've never, we've never RHAP ranked the top moves of survivor.

[01:15:47] Yeah.

[01:15:48] I thought you wrote an article one time about the top moves, but there was, that was like,

[01:15:52] like 12 years ago.

[01:15:54] Oh gosh.

[01:15:54] It was a long time ago.

[01:15:56] It's, I mean, it's like right around most of them wouldn't even make the list now.

[01:15:59] Yeah.

[01:16:00] Should I, should we pull this up real quick?

[01:16:02] Uh, the 10 best strategic moves ever on survivor.

[01:16:06] Uh, this is March, 2014 is when I wrote this.

[01:16:11] Um, number 10.

[01:16:14] So this is what, this is what I thought back in the day, uh, in March of 2014, number 10

[01:16:21] was Boston Rob sending Matt Elrod back.

[01:16:25] Not even in the top 30.

[01:16:27] Not even close.

[01:16:28] Yeah.

[01:16:28] Uh, at number nine, I've got the dead grandmother lie.

[01:16:33] Okay.

[01:16:34] Again, like that, I think we could get into like, uh, it's, that's a moment.

[01:16:38] Is it a move?

[01:16:39] Yeah.

[01:16:40] A moment.

[01:16:40] Um, hold up bro, uh, from probably not making the list was number eight.

[01:16:45] I don't think it's making the list.

[01:16:47] Uh, I have Todd at final tribal at number seven.

[01:16:52] This is not my best word.

[01:16:53] Yeah.

[01:16:54] Again, I don't know.

[01:16:54] That's not move necessarily.

[01:16:56] Yeah.

[01:16:56] I think like if we're talking about a move, uh, history is going to look kindly on Natalie.

[01:17:01] Um, the, uh, the rock vote, the, the rock draw from blood versus water was number six.

[01:17:09] Um, Rob, I put you at number five.

[01:17:14] Which thing?

[01:17:14] I put you, uh, getting rid of, uh, Christie.

[01:17:18] Yeah.

[01:17:19] At number five.

[01:17:20] Um, and I said, that's probably not making the top 20.

[01:17:23] If it does, it's probably, uh,

[01:17:24] Well, you're always the, you're always the first one to say that, but the truth is it's

[01:17:29] a great move.

[01:17:30] It's a terrific move.

[01:17:31] It's a foundational move.

[01:17:32] And you're the Robin Robbins podcast.

[01:17:34] It's been making the list.

[01:17:35] Yeah.

[01:17:35] Um, the right and back job I had at only number four, which feels ridiculous.

[01:17:40] Um, fall of the row to four.

[01:17:43] I have at number three, uh, which I would, I would still hold onto as like one of the absolute tops.

[01:17:50] Um, I have hatch making an alliance on here.

[01:17:56] Just a general alliance.

[01:17:57] Yeah.

[01:17:57] Yeah.

[01:17:58] I think a lot of this was like for historical record.

[01:18:00] Uh, and then of course poverty is double idol play.

[01:18:04] Okay.

[01:18:04] So I think there's a lot of stuff to add to the list.

[01:18:06] I think it would be like, I don't know if that's sort of like, maybe it's a fan vote

[01:18:10] to like submit the list, but I think it's sort of like a panel of experts.

[01:18:13] That's like, I think it'd be really fun to dig into.

[01:18:16] I think that there's something here for sure.

[01:18:17] And I think if people are interested in that, they should let us know.

[01:18:20] Okay.

[01:18:20] This is my favorite idea so far for 25th anniversary.

[01:18:22] I love this idea.

[01:18:23] It's great.

[01:18:24] All right.

[01:18:24] Too bad we found it on the last episode.

[01:18:27] Well, that, no, this is good.

[01:18:29] That's it.

[01:18:30] Oh, this is hopeful.

[01:18:30] This is like a, Hey, this is a season.

[01:18:33] Wait until next season.

[01:18:35] This was worth the journey.

[01:18:38] Yeah.

[01:18:39] Wow.

[01:18:40] It really is.

[01:18:41] Uh, uh, it really is about the friends you make along the way and the ideas that you get

[01:18:46] at the very end of the podcast.

[01:18:47] Yeah.

[01:18:48] That make the whole thing worthwhile.

[01:18:49] Let's see.

[01:18:50] Uh, Steven is a lot lower on the season.

[01:18:52] Only saying Natalie is a good winner and then said that the bad gameplay and the unlikable

[01:18:56] cast brought it down.

[01:18:57] So all to say that that list was written before this season aired.

[01:19:01] And for sure, Natalie's making that top 10 in that list.

[01:19:05] I think it was probably written before Caggian because it was, I think March 14th is when

[01:19:10] it comes out.

[01:19:11] So it was like four weeks into Caggian.

[01:19:13] Yeah.

[01:19:13] Yeah.

[01:19:14] And at that point, like Tony looked like this was going to be like a sixth.

[01:19:18] All right.

[01:19:18] Rob said they weren't going to bring anybody back other than Jeremy or Natalie.

[01:19:23] Uh, got that one wrong.

[01:19:25] Got them wrong.

[01:19:26] Got that one wrong.

[01:19:27] Kelly and Keith.

[01:19:28] Big, uh, you know, so not all my takes were great.

[01:19:31] The ones they've brought back stars, right?

[01:19:35] Every single one of them that they brought back went deep the next time that they played.

[01:19:39] Even if Natalie went home first, uh, she didn't go home, home and she came back.

[01:19:45] Yep.

[01:19:45] Natalie, uh, she went the full, she fully 20 to herself, uh, the way that she, Nadia's first,

[01:19:52] Natalie's last in San Juan del Sur.

[01:19:55] And then Natalie is the Nadia surrogate and then gets to final tribal at the end of it.

[01:20:01] Okay.

[01:20:01] It's an incredible arc.

[01:20:02] A couple other things.

[01:20:03] Uh, Rob said in regards to season 30, uh, I'm pumped anytime we get to see three tribes.

[01:20:08] Uh, Josh adds unironically, uh, you know, look, uh, they can't all be winners.

[01:20:13] Um, Natalie in my exit interview makes a sticky situation reference.

[01:20:18] Uh, uh, Rob asked if she knew she was going to win.

[01:20:20] She said, I knew I had that ish in the bag.

[01:20:24] Yeah.

[01:20:25] Yeah.

[01:20:26] Mm-hmm.

[01:20:27] Natalie's so confident.

[01:20:29] Yeah.

[01:20:29] Like Baylor, we should all figure out a way to be so confident.

[01:20:33] Yeah.

[01:20:33] It's incredible.

[01:20:35] Um, Baylor also, uh, said, uh, shut your mouth, homie G.

[01:20:39] Uh-huh.

[01:20:39] Of course she did.

[01:20:40] Mm-hmm.

[01:20:41] So she was a good sport.

[01:20:42] They were, they were hanging out.

[01:20:44] San Juan del Sur was a fun season.

[01:20:45] I think people were interacting in a fun way, uh, you know, and we weren't like exactly pulling

[01:20:50] bunches along the way either.

[01:20:52] Uh, so it's just like a good back and forth.

[01:20:54] Mm-hmm.

[01:20:56] Yeah.

[01:20:57] Okay.

[01:20:58] Did Missy recognize that she was, uh, known as Muffin?

[01:21:03] Yeah.

[01:21:03] Um, no, I'm looking at what Danielle wrote up.

[01:21:07] Uh, Rob asked Missy if she would send Rita Christmas card.

[01:21:10] Uh, she would not send Rita Christmas card.

[01:21:13] She thinks there's someone in his life that he has a relationship that was triggered by however

[01:21:17] Missy was out there and he needs to fix that.

[01:21:19] Uh, she says that, uh, he's full of spite, but she's sure he's a good person.

[01:21:24] Okay.

[01:21:24] Bless your heart is basically the TLDR on that.

[01:21:28] Yeah.

[01:21:28] Okay.

[01:21:29] All right.

[01:21:30] Um, then.

[01:21:32] Did you ever get on, uh, Missy's Christmas card list?

[01:21:36] Uh, no, I never got a Christmas card for Missy.

[01:21:39] It's unfortunate.

[01:21:40] Yep.

[01:21:41] Okay.

[01:21:42] Maybe someday it'll just show up.

[01:21:44] It'll just show up.

[01:21:45] Okay.

[01:21:46] Yep.

[01:21:46] Josh.

[01:21:48] There you go.

[01:21:49] That's Survivor City, Wendell, sir.

[01:21:50] We did it.

[01:21:51] What did we learn?

[01:21:53] And by the way, also, I just want to say after, uh, all of this, uh, I did a, the,

[01:21:57] uh, I, we did our sleepover podcast with Tony following Kagee on, but then we had a great

[01:22:03] post-season interview with Natalie Anderson.

[01:22:05] I think it was like over two hours, lots of laughs.

[01:22:08] A lot of, we like, like, uh, really that's where the deep dive I think was born, like,

[01:22:14] uh, going through her whole game.

[01:22:16] And, you know, Natalie was, you know, uh, a great friend of the podcast and, uh, was

[01:22:21] on a lot in this era.

[01:22:23] Yeah.

[01:22:24] Uh, what does Natalie keep up with the show?

[01:22:27] Do we know?

[01:22:27] I, I think, well, I think she was like very, like she, like recently, um, in Survivor 45

[01:22:36] was like Instagramming up a storm over Kyle winning immunity.

[01:22:41] And she said that he was like screenshotting.

[01:22:43] She was saying like when he balanced like the thing on his, uh, maybe she's triggered

[01:22:47] against like people that win these ball challenges, uh, like, uh, that she said that he had like

[01:22:53] the plate on his forearm.

[01:22:55] Whoa.

[01:22:56] Mm-hmm.

[01:22:58] Like, uh, like, uh, yeah, but I just feel like that there's a lot of people that watch

[01:23:01] these challenges.

[01:23:02] Nat, I think, I think Jeff would have called it out if there was a real, like, like, like

[01:23:05] a literal plate that he was like hiding or like a plate on like, it was like some sort

[01:23:10] of like metal plate.

[01:23:12] No, no.

[01:23:12] It was like that he had like the circular thing that he was balancing the billiard balls

[01:23:16] on.

[01:23:17] Yeah.

[01:23:18] There's no way that's good.

[01:23:19] Uh, Rachel couldn't even grab a fistful of rice.

[01:23:23] Yeah.

[01:23:23] Okay.

[01:23:24] Josh, uh, you and I have been talking about, uh, what do we do next?

[01:23:29] What are we like?

[01:23:31] The sense that there's a ton of momentum for us to go back and visit, revisit worlds

[01:23:38] apart.

[01:23:39] That's the thing.

[01:23:41] Uh, I think that there's so much like, uh, I think like the, the feelings on San Juan del

[01:23:47] Sur are so like overwhelmingly positive and good vibey.

[01:23:51] And I don't know if 10 years later, that's how it feels towards worlds apart.

[01:23:55] I know that the people who love that season, like really stand by it.

[01:23:58] You better relax, bro.

[01:24:00] I haven't gone back.

[01:24:02] I, so like, again, I told, I told this on the podcast not terribly long ago that like,

[01:24:07] sometimes I'll just try to do the mental exercise of like, can I remember everybody on this season

[01:24:12] of survivor and I got hung up, uh, on Rodney of all people was like the one that like, I couldn't,

[01:24:19] just close your mouth, open your ears.

[01:24:22] And just watch what happens.

[01:24:23] Yeah.

[01:24:24] Long time to get there.

[01:24:26] Um, I think that the absolute worst thing that I could do for my mental health is to

[01:24:30] like podcast about that season and have like the worlds apart alum in my inbox.

[01:24:36] Well, actually in me, I want absolutely nothing to do with that energy at all.

[01:24:41] Okay.

[01:24:41] Uh, we're talking about some other things.

[01:24:44] Uh, we have some ideas that, uh, we'll, uh, still continue.

[01:24:49] We have some fun ideas.

[01:24:51] Okay.

[01:24:51] But I don't think we want to continue.

[01:24:52] I like this spot.

[01:24:54] I think the survivor time machine is really fun.

[01:24:56] So like activate while a season is on actually.

[01:24:59] Like I think like the ways in which these things, like the way in which this finale of San Juan

[01:25:04] del Sur is so wildly different from what we're getting like a, like a four hour, you know,

[01:25:09] we haven't really talked about, uh, any sort of like parallels, uh, in survivor 47.

[01:25:14] And then also the week that was in survivor San Juan del Sur.

[01:25:18] I have been making the comparison that, uh, Rachel's game to this point is, uh, like weirdly

[01:25:24] similar to Mike Holloway, Josh, uh, speaking of worlds apart.

[01:25:29] Interesting.

[01:25:30] Interesting.

[01:25:30] Except that like Mike, I mean, I guess this would be why I would watch worlds apart.

[01:25:35] Like how in on the act, like the actualization of like boats changing was Mike, you know,

[01:25:40] like I feel like with Rachel, I just feel like Rachel's had like more command than Mike

[01:25:45] did, but she also has to grid it out in order to win.

[01:25:49] Uh, you know, which is what Mike had to do.

[01:25:51] That's interesting.

[01:25:51] I have to think about that a little bit.

[01:25:53] Um, but, and they're very different players in terms of like, uh, type and approach and,

[01:25:57] but like, it's been a similar journey, uh, for the two of them.

[01:26:00] That being said, okay.

[01:26:02] Uh, anything else from how like the final six and final five ended up going down?

[01:26:06] No, I thought it was interesting to think about, uh, what fire could have looked like.

[01:26:10] Uh, you know, that could have been Keith nails moment.

[01:26:13] Keith nail could have beasted fire for sure.

[01:26:15] I think if, I think if final fire, uh, uh, like the final four fire making is in here,

[01:26:20] I think Keith maybe wins survivor San Juan del Sur.

[01:26:22] Mm hmm.

[01:26:24] Okay.

[01:26:24] Uh, but, but, uh, that's not what happens.

[01:26:27] Yeah.

[01:26:28] Um, Sue has had like a, uh, mom and daughter relationship with a few of the different players

[01:26:33] this season.

[01:26:34] Yeah.

[01:26:34] But like, she had like a little bit of like a Missy and Baylor, uh, relationship with,

[01:26:38] uh, like, uh, maybe that, is that what Kyle said about, um, Sue and Caroline that,

[01:26:43] uh, they told Rome of like, uh, yeah, he said that they're like Missy and Baylor.

[01:26:47] Yeah.

[01:26:48] They're like evil stepsisters, you know, like, I think like there's been some wicked step

[01:26:52] You don't call me Tweedledee or my kid Tweedledee dumb.

[01:26:57] That's my Tweedledee.

[01:27:00] Uh, yeah, I think that's, there's something there.

[01:27:03] I think that more, um, like, I guess like going into the final four of this, it's not dissimilar

[01:27:10] to the final four of San Juan del Sur and that there's like only two serious win candidates

[01:27:15] right now, I think, uh, in, you know, there were, it was really going to be Natalie or

[01:27:18] Keith probably.

[01:27:20] And here it feels like it can only be Rachel or Sam.

[01:27:23] Uh, so at least that's how I'm seeing it right now.

[01:27:26] Sam Juan del Sur.

[01:27:27] Sam Juan del Sur.

[01:27:29] I mean, that could be your biggest, uh, like if you're trying to see is San Juan del Sur

[01:27:33] predicting the future, uh, then if Sam wins and this becomes San Juan del Sur, you will

[01:27:41] know that we actually do have a time machine and we timed all of this immaculately.

[01:27:46] Yeah.

[01:27:46] Like those ribs and woos mouth.

[01:27:48] Okay.

[01:27:49] All right.

[01:27:50] Well, Josh, well done.

[01:27:53] Uh, what a fun ride.

[01:27:55] I mean, the fall went by quick and this went by very quick.

[01:27:58] Also this whole run through this.

[01:28:00] I agree.

[01:28:01] It was great.

[01:28:02] It was very fun.

[01:28:02] This is the first, this is like the longest stretch of survivor conversation I've had in

[01:28:06] forever.

[01:28:08] Uh, and it was wonderful.

[01:28:09] I had a blast.

[01:28:10] It was really fun to do every week.

[01:28:11] All right.

[01:28:12] Great season.

[01:28:12] Holds up.

[01:28:13] Josh, what else is going on for you?

[01:28:15] Lots going on over at, we know scripted tv.com the scripted wing of our HAP.

[01:28:22] Uh, we've got, um, recaps of silo, the Apple TV plus show.

[01:28:27] That's like a deep dive mystery boxy show.

[01:28:29] Uh, Mike Bloom and grace leader are covering that.

[01:28:32] Have you checked out silo?

[01:28:34] Rob?

[01:28:35] You haven't gone down into the silo?

[01:28:37] No.

[01:28:38] Should I?

[01:28:40] I think you're all right.

[01:28:41] I don't think it's going to be your show, but then again, you love for all mankind.

[01:28:45] I think you might.

[01:28:45] Is it like for all mankind?

[01:28:47] Well, I know for all mankind in 2024.

[01:28:50] I was thinking back.

[01:28:51] I feel like it was like around Christmas time.

[01:28:53] I remember watching the finale last year.

[01:28:54] Yeah.

[01:28:55] I don't believe we got any for all mankind this year.

[01:28:58] Uh, it's kind of patch up to where they are.

[01:28:59] I think.

[01:29:00] Yeah.

[01:29:00] I think it's getting close.

[01:29:02] Uh, but you love an Apple TV drama.

[01:29:04] So I think you could enjoy silo.

[01:29:06] I'm looking at the, the, the, the poster for silo.

[01:29:09] I have no idea what it's about.

[01:29:10] Um, but this is what it looks like.

[01:29:12] Yeah.

[01:29:13] Let me see it.

[01:29:13] So let me see if I could just like a guess at what silo is.

[01:29:16] So I see a woman, uh, is in a space suit.

[01:29:21] Uh, is that an alien planet?

[01:29:24] It looks like there's like some dead corpses.

[01:29:26] So, uh, what is there?

[01:29:28] Has there been some sort of like, uh, Armageddon and there's some sort of like fallout going on

[01:29:33] in the background?

[01:29:34] Am I close?

[01:29:36] I mean, like basically.

[01:29:37] Yeah.

[01:29:37] Yeah.

[01:29:38] Hmm.

[01:29:39] I'm looking for a little bit of a pick me up.

[01:29:41] It's a surprisingly funny show.

[01:29:43] Mm hmm.

[01:29:44] Yeah.

[01:29:45] It's actually, it's actually not.

[01:29:46] It's like very, it's played very straight for drama and it's very twisty and turny.

[01:29:49] Uh, and Mike and Grace are all over it.

[01:29:51] Yeah.

[01:29:52] Um, but other shows from Apple TV plus severance is coming back.

[01:29:57] The doctors and I are checking in on severance with a season one speed run right now, uh,

[01:30:03] on the way to the Jan 17th, uh, return of severance.

[01:30:07] Um, and speak.

[01:30:09] I mean, I think next year is going to have a lot of really fun stuff in the scripted realm,

[01:30:13] Rob, including the fact that, uh, we referenced him earlier.

[01:30:16] Uh, but the white Lotus is coming back.

[01:30:18] We have a date.

[01:30:19] February 16th is the return of the white Lotus.

[01:30:24] How about that?

[01:30:25] Mm hmm.

[01:30:26] The wah Lotus.

[01:30:27] Yeah.

[01:30:28] Um, now that's a prestige drama I could get into.

[01:30:32] I think so.

[01:30:33] I would love to talk about the white Lotus with you when it comes back.

[01:30:36] Oh, that'd be fun.

[01:30:37] Yeah.

[01:30:37] That could be really fun.

[01:30:38] Mm hmm.

[01:30:39] Maybe we'll do that.

[01:30:40] Maybe we'll do that.

[01:30:41] Maybe we'll do that.

[01:30:42] Yeah.

[01:30:42] Maybe we'll do that.

[01:30:43] If enough people subscribe to, we know scripted TV.com.

[01:30:46] We know scripted TV.com.

[01:30:48] Hit subscribe.

[01:30:48] Tell a friend, uh, pass the word along, uh, and, uh, come along for the party.

[01:30:54] We're having a really good time.

[01:30:55] We could program tastemakers, all sorts of stuff.

[01:30:57] Really good time.

[01:30:58] Okay.

[01:30:58] Now that's how you do it on RHAP.

[01:31:01] What do you think about that for merch?

[01:31:02] Is that a, I like that.

[01:31:04] I like that for, for us 10 years ago.

[01:31:06] Mm hmm.

[01:31:06] Yeah.

[01:31:07] What about for now?

[01:31:08] Ah, you know, that's how you know, that's how you do it on RHAP.

[01:31:12] I mean, I, I, I would like it, but like, does anyone, does anyone know what's going on

[01:31:17] with it?

[01:31:18] I don't know.

[01:31:18] What does the chat think?

[01:31:19] Do we do?

[01:31:19] Anybody want that merch?

[01:31:21] I don't know.

[01:31:22] What should it be?

[01:31:24] I think, I think we've put them to sleep with like the serene story of how Natalie and

[01:31:28] They like this.

[01:31:29] Yeah.

[01:31:30] They like it.

[01:31:30] The people that are an hour and 30 minutes into this are the people that like this.

[01:31:35] Was this like their favorite podcast?

[01:31:37] Do you think?

[01:31:38] We're playing in the back of the room now.

[01:31:39] Everybody else, everybody in the front of the room is gone.

[01:31:43] Yeah.

[01:31:43] Very important.

[01:31:44] These are our people.

[01:31:45] Yes.

[01:31:46] Yeah.

[01:31:46] Okay.

[01:31:46] Look, this one, this one fan would like it.

[01:31:49] Yeah.

[01:31:50] One fan would like it.

[01:31:51] Okay.

[01:31:52] I'll get it.

[01:31:53] I'll show it off.

[01:31:54] It'll be a good time.

[01:31:55] Okay.

[01:31:56] Rob, what do you got going on this week?

[01:31:57] Anything?

[01:31:58] I got a big survivor finale coming up.

[01:32:00] Got a fun podcast coming up after the finale.

[01:32:03] I'll be talking with Adam Klein.

[01:32:05] It's been a minute since I talked to him on the podcast.

[01:32:07] And we'll see what he thinks as we crown the newest survivor winner.

[01:32:13] Plus we'll have our final four exit interviews coming up on Thursday.

[01:32:17] And then Stephen Fishback can weigh in and tell us if it was a good finale or not.

[01:32:22] Hmm.

[01:32:23] Yeah.

[01:32:23] What do you think he's going to say?

[01:32:26] Higher on this than San Juan del Sur, you think?

[01:32:30] I don't know.

[01:32:31] Maybe after playing with Jeremy, maybe he has a little bit more reverence for San Juan del Sur.

[01:32:36] Yeah.

[01:32:37] Yeah.

[01:32:37] Okay.

[01:32:37] All right.

[01:32:37] Thank you so much for joining us, everybody.

[01:32:39] Take care of a good one.

[01:32:40] Let us know.

[01:32:41] Even if you're not watching us live, we love to read what you have to say in the comments.

[01:32:45] It helps us make decisions around here.

[01:32:47] So don't be shy with how you're feeling about the show.

[01:32:51] And how about this is a 10 year ago classic.

[01:32:53] If you've finished listening to this series, hit us on social media with the hashtag Stan

[01:33:02] Juan del Sur.

[01:33:03] How about that?

[01:33:04] Right.

[01:33:05] As a Coca-Cola classic throwback.

[01:33:07] I love it.

[01:33:08] All right.

[01:33:08] Thank you so much.

[01:33:09] Take care, everybody.

[01:33:09] Have a good one.

[01:33:10] Bye.
