[00:01:14] We're back, baby! Josh Wiggler and I are back from a trip to Philadelphia to attend the world premiere screening of I stan Cagion celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Back with me. Hopefully, you'll see.
[00:01:30] Not too worse for the wear. Not too worse for the wear. It's Josh Wiggler. Josh, how are you?
[00:01:35] Rob, I'm doing quite well. I can't help but notice that we didn't collect any meat steaks, cheese steaks.
[00:01:42] No, we did not collect any cheese steaks. Yes.
[00:01:46] Missed opportunity.
[00:01:47] Well, so we didn't get the chance to. I dispatched our own Brandon Donlan to go out and try various cheese steaks from around Philadelphia.
[00:01:57] Is he our own? Do we own Brandon Donlan?
[00:01:58] Yes. Yes. We have acquired him. And so we...
[00:02:01] But we have owned him if he'd made it deeper.
[00:02:03] Yeah. I haven't spoken with him that he's been out trying different cheese steaks places in Philadelphia.
[00:02:08] And so hopefully we have some update later on in the show on how he's doing.
[00:02:13] I no longer support Pat's.
[00:02:13] Yes. So, yeah.
[00:02:14] Okay. Why? Pat's...
[00:02:16] Pat's...
[00:02:17] Anaconda snakes.
[00:02:18] Pat's back is not all right?
[00:02:21] Pat's on the anaconda snakes, man.
[00:02:22] Wow.
[00:02:22] I'm not in for it.
[00:02:24] Pat's back, I hope, is all right. It's not been quite 10 years, but it's been some time.
[00:02:28] It's been a minute. All right.
[00:02:29] So we're here live on Tuesday night and a little bit later than we've been doing this normally because of our trip to Philadelphia.
[00:02:35] Basically like 24 hours in Philadelphia. So a real quick trip back and forth.
[00:02:41] It was... I went... I road tripped alongside our very own, who I know we own, the great Sam Moore.
[00:02:48] And it was, I think, a 24-hour and 30-minute journey door-to-door for Sam and myself.
[00:02:57] So, yeah. It was a quick trip. Just this morning, Rob, we had coffee together.
[00:03:02] Yeah.
[00:03:02] You got on an airplane.
[00:03:04] I drove through multiple states.
[00:03:06] Yep.
[00:03:07] You watched San Juan del Sur...
[00:03:09] At the airport.
[00:03:10] In the... I was going to say in the air.
[00:03:11] I didn't watch it in the air. No.
[00:03:12] Would have been great.
[00:03:14] I watched it in the car.
[00:03:18] I listened to it.
[00:03:19] Yes. Okay.
[00:03:20] In the car.
[00:03:21] And you're going to tell us what that experience was like.
[00:03:23] Yes. We plugged in the episode of San Juan del Sur into my car speakers and tested, I think for me, for the first time, how does Survivor play as a podcast?
[00:03:36] Yeah.
[00:03:36] Interesting.
[00:03:37] Now, I know...
[00:03:37] Now, I know how Survivor podcasting plays as a podcast.
[00:03:41] Of course, as a veteran of the trade.
[00:03:44] I know what that's like.
[00:03:46] But what is it like to experience Survivor as a podcast?
[00:03:51] And I'm now equipped to answer that question here on this podcast.
[00:03:56] Yeah. And I think there's probably going to be better, some better episodes than others.
[00:04:00] And so we'll get Josh's take on that.
[00:04:02] This did have a blindfold challenge.
[00:04:03] So there was a component of like you had...
[00:04:06] You were like Reed and Baylor.
[00:04:09] Yeah.
[00:04:09] Just like operating only on your ears.
[00:04:11] Oh, interesting. It was a blindfold challenge because I didn't clock that on the podcast version of the episode.
[00:04:15] Yeah.
[00:04:16] Wow.
[00:04:17] Okay. So you get some things.
[00:04:19] You miss some others.
[00:04:19] The challenges don't play so well when you're looking at Survivor's podcast.
[00:04:23] Okay. And so I teased, but we are going to have the world premiere, the live video premiere of I Stand Kageon,
[00:04:33] which is a documentary film, RHAP's first original documentary that we've been working on all year long.
[00:04:41] And it's all about the 10-year history and legacy and all of the shenanigans that happened in Survivor Brains versus Beauty versus Braun.
[00:04:52] And I guess, Josh, let me start there.
[00:04:54] Yeah.
[00:04:54] I feel like that now we've finished the pre-merge of Survivor San Juan del Sur talking about episode number six.
[00:05:02] And, you know, I really did feel, especially coming out of Kageon, which had aired in the spring of 2014,
[00:05:10] that the reputation of this season at this time, I think, is an interesting one.
[00:05:16] And I feel like that this is...
[00:05:18] Of San Juan del Sur specifically.
[00:05:19] Yes.
[00:05:19] Specifically, yeah.
[00:05:20] I do feel like, and I feel like that this is very present throughout the pre-merge,
[00:05:23] that this is a season of dodos and bozos and that things are not going well.
[00:05:31] And really, all throughout this episode, Jeff is just chastising the contestants, really across both tribes.
[00:05:38] You have Koyopa, which has really been the disaster tribe in terms of losing so much.
[00:05:44] They go to every single tribal council in the pre-merge, with the exception of the Drew Christie vote.
[00:05:50] So they are just hapless losers, even after the tribe swap.
[00:05:55] Then you have Hunapu, which, you know, is the victor in these challenges.
[00:06:02] But they are full of, like, a bunch of knuckleheads, like Drew Christie and John Mish.
[00:06:12] And then, ultimately, they're constantly trying to make trades with Jeff that he says are horrible trades.
[00:06:19] And they get a full, like, dressing down here.
[00:06:24] He tells them, you guys suck.
[00:06:27] Yes.
[00:06:28] Is what he says to them, I believe is a quote.
[00:06:30] I don't think he actually said that.
[00:06:32] But he says to them that there's never been a group of survivors that's needed as much help as this group.
[00:06:40] Yeah.
[00:06:41] This is like when John Kimball fills in as the teacher for a class of kindergarten students,
[00:06:51] despite the fact that he, by trade, is a police officer undercover.
[00:06:55] And he tells these children, your children are soft.
[00:06:59] You lack discipline.
[00:07:01] And this is like Jeff kindergarten copping these people.
[00:07:04] He wants to whip them into shape.
[00:07:06] And maybe, Rob.
[00:07:07] Hey, Jeff, I'm a kindergarten construction worker.
[00:07:09] You know, it may be because Jeff kindergarten construction workers these people.
[00:07:15] If this moment doesn't occur, this ruthless trade that occurs for the rice,
[00:07:25] does it turn out to be nice for some of the people from San Juan del Sur who will go on to have some measure of great survivor success?
[00:07:35] Like, did Jeremy need a dressing down from Jeff?
[00:07:39] No.
[00:07:40] So that he could have a meteoric rise?
[00:07:42] He's a meteoric collector.
[00:07:44] No.
[00:07:44] And so what's interesting, and maybe we talked about this, you know, the top 40 countdown was kind of a blur.
[00:07:50] 40 seasons in 40 weeks for me.
[00:07:52] But, you know, when you and I did the evolution of strategy.
[00:07:55] Which is not a blur.
[00:07:56] We remember this.
[00:07:56] We remember vividly, of course, and especially the 29th season that we did of the evolution of strategy.
[00:08:02] But we had not yet seen Jeremy's win in Survivor second chances.
[00:08:09] And I do wonder if, like, is Jeremy at all, like, was his, I guess not because Kelly Wentworth is there.
[00:08:18] I was going to say, like, it's sort of like Julie McGee, and this is really getting into next week.
[00:08:24] But Julie McGee quitting, in some way, does that help Jeremy's candidacy where he ends up going a little bit further into the game than he otherwise would have?
[00:08:38] But, like, the DNA of Julie quitting is very much here in this episode.
[00:08:42] And the trading of the rice for the tarp, I do think, accelerates that to some degree.
[00:08:49] It certainly does.
[00:08:51] Now, I'm curious.
[00:08:52] I think we started talking about this.
[00:08:54] Were you going to tie this to Kageyan in some way?
[00:08:57] Oh, I was just saying that it was like where Kageyan was like, oh, my God, this is peak Survivor.
[00:09:02] Right.
[00:09:02] I do think that coming into, and again, we have not yet.
[00:09:06] What is the greatest thing about Survivor San Wendell, sir, is Natalie's, you know, historic run really in the second half of the game.
[00:09:15] That has not really started yet.
[00:09:16] We get a little bit of the start of that story here in this episode.
[00:09:20] But Natalie has been quite under-edited in five episodes prior to this.
[00:09:26] And so we have not had that amazing run yet for Natalie.
[00:09:30] That amazing race.
[00:09:31] That amazing race.
[00:09:32] And really, the story of the pre-merge has really been like the story of like some very bad Survivor play.
[00:09:41] One of the things that I've always loved about this episode in particular, which is going to be, you know, Hunapu getting chastised, but ultimately winning both challenges yet again,
[00:09:55] is that Jeff is like the real, like, I'm very disappointed in you, father.
[00:10:02] Right.
[00:10:02] Like he's like, he's like, he's like, the next, the next step is I'm calling your parents and I'm sending you all home.
[00:10:11] Some of the parents are already here.
[00:10:12] That's right.
[00:10:14] That's right.
[00:10:15] And so he's like threatening.
[00:10:18] Wesley's a good, a good boy.
[00:10:19] He's threatening to break up the sleepover before like Keith, come pick up your kid.
[00:10:25] And I love that because like, because like, it's not that Hunapu doesn't deserve a dressing down, but does this Hunapu?
[00:10:34] Yeah.
[00:10:35] I mean, they get in trouble for a lot of the things and really it was, you know, Reed and Jeremy and Natalie were there, but Jeremy and Natalie didn't even want to do half of the stuff.
[00:10:44] What's so funny about it is that like, you know, Reed never gets a chance to shine beyond this season, but Natalie is going to have the win for this season.
[00:10:56] She's going to be a finalist in her second appearance on this show.
[00:10:59] Jeremy is going to do quite well in his third appearance and win on his second.
[00:11:04] So like the people who drove the rice into the ground are not the ones who you might think like it's not Wesley and Alec who are like the nincompoops.
[00:11:15] It's not the numbskulls.
[00:11:16] The numbskulls didn't do it.
[00:11:18] And so it's like the smarter, older siblings framed like the younger siblings who like crashed the sleepover for the problem.
[00:11:27] And Jeff is like looking at this whole tribe and now broad brushing Wes and Alec into it.
[00:11:33] If I'm Alec, I'm like, but I didn't do it.
[00:11:36] Yeah.
[00:11:37] I didn't even do anything.
[00:11:39] Dad, it wasn't me.
[00:11:40] It was Drew.
[00:11:41] You don't ever believe me.
[00:11:42] It was him that did it.
[00:11:43] Like this is like very familiar territory for Alec.
[00:11:46] And he's like, Alec, the only thing worse than what you boys did is that you're selling out your brother.
[00:11:53] You know, like it's like he's like there's no getting out of it.
[00:11:57] But Jeff gets such a good hate into Hunapu.
[00:11:59] He's like this tribe has needed more help than any tribe.
[00:12:02] It's like, but it's not really exactly this specific group, is it?
[00:12:08] Yeah.
[00:12:09] Some people get away with scot-free like John Mish and Missy.
[00:12:13] And so, you know.
[00:12:15] Like I feel like John Mish and Missy like deserve to be part of this too.
[00:12:19] Like if they were still here, Keith is absolved of any wrongdoing, of course.
[00:12:25] And we're also just quickly forgetting.
[00:12:27] Yeah, it is as almost as if Julie McGee has already quit.
[00:12:30] But she's here too.
[00:12:31] But like you really would think that it would be Alec and Wes who would run up the score on this one.
[00:12:36] And it's like these poor children did nothing.
[00:12:41] They did nothing wrong.
[00:12:42] Yeah.
[00:12:43] All right.
[00:12:43] Well, let's talk about what's going on here.
[00:12:45] Anyway.
[00:12:46] But that is a big.
[00:12:46] That's the big.
[00:12:47] I'm thrilled to be talking about all of this on the other side of the great movie screening of I, Stan, Kageyan.
[00:12:54] Rob, at the screening.
[00:12:56] Where they dumped out the rice.
[00:12:57] Where the rice was dumped out.
[00:12:58] And this week we're dumping the rice back in.
[00:13:01] It occurred to me at the screening last night, there was a mini Q&A after.
[00:13:05] And there were some questions about like which should, which, you know, which season should get the I, Stan, Kageyan treatment next.
[00:13:14] And you know what I was thinking, Rob?
[00:13:16] What?
[00:13:16] We're doing it right now.
[00:13:19] Stan Juan del Sur is happening as we speak.
[00:13:22] Yeah, that's great.
[00:13:23] Okay.
[00:13:24] That we should make that the t-shirt.
[00:13:27] You nailed it.
[00:13:27] It took us six weeks, but you nailed it.
[00:13:29] Stan Juan del Sur.
[00:13:30] Can I tell you something else about that?
[00:13:32] I nailed it in the car on the drive back from Philadelphia this morning.
[00:13:36] And when I said it out loud, Sam Moore was like, no, no, no.
[00:13:40] Like he was like traumatized.
[00:13:41] Like I was pitching another like documentary for us to immediately start producing right away.
[00:13:45] I was like, no, no, no, no, no.
[00:13:46] It's the name of the podcast.
[00:13:47] The name of the podcast.
[00:13:47] No extra work for you.
[00:13:48] No extra work for anyone.
[00:13:50] It's Stan Juan del Sur.
[00:13:51] He's like, oh, that's a great name.
[00:13:53] Yeah.
[00:13:53] And it is.
[00:13:54] It's a great name.
[00:13:54] Okay.
[00:13:55] All right.
[00:13:55] So let's talk about a little bit of what's going on.
[00:13:58] This is really Dale.
[00:14:00] Remember in the first episode, Dale found the pog on top of the well.
[00:14:05] Yeah.
[00:14:06] Well, he's about to go, you know, into the slammer here.
[00:14:09] So he's got some moves he needs to make with that pog.
[00:14:13] Can we talk about pogs already?
[00:14:16] I'm sure at some point.
[00:14:18] Yeah.
[00:14:18] Can we do it again?
[00:14:19] Were you pogs kid?
[00:14:20] Pogs guy?
[00:14:21] No, I'm too old.
[00:14:21] Pogs boy?
[00:14:22] Too old.
[00:14:23] Still am.
[00:14:24] Do we want pogs?
[00:14:26] Do we want pogs back?
[00:14:28] Pogs would be a great nickname for somebody.
[00:14:31] Oh, yeah.
[00:14:32] Like a mobster.
[00:14:33] Like, oh, that's Lenny Pogs.
[00:14:35] Pogs Galeri.
[00:14:37] He's in the slammer.
[00:14:38] He's in the slammer now.
[00:14:40] Yeah.
[00:14:41] In like a 90s set mob movie where he just got deep into pogs.
[00:14:46] Yeah.
[00:14:46] And so Dale is trying to.
[00:14:51] He actually very graphically.
[00:14:52] He says that he losing Kelly.
[00:14:56] He had to watch them slaughter his daughter.
[00:15:00] Vivid.
[00:15:01] Yeah.
[00:15:02] It rhymes, but.
[00:15:03] You don't have the clip, do you?
[00:15:05] I didn't pull that clip.
[00:15:06] No.
[00:15:07] It's just like there's such gravitas to like Dale's confessional here.
[00:15:12] Maybe it was additionally pronounced for me as listening to it.
[00:15:18] Because you were listening.
[00:15:19] The words had more meaning.
[00:15:20] Yeah.
[00:15:21] It was like watching your daughter get slaughtered.
[00:15:26] It was the worst thing I'd ever seen her go through.
[00:15:29] It's like, wow.
[00:15:31] This is like, this is now it's like sounding like we're like a prestige HBO drama.
[00:15:37] This is like very penguin.
[00:15:41] Yeah.
[00:15:42] Like the penguin.
[00:15:45] You want to get me on one?
[00:15:47] Don't start with me, Rob.
[00:15:49] Okay.
[00:15:49] So he's got that basically.
[00:15:51] So Dale has this kind of has some penguin penguin isms about him.
[00:15:56] I think so.
[00:15:57] He's sort of like a Burgess.
[00:15:58] That's what I was going to say.
[00:15:59] Yeah.
[00:16:00] Yeah.
[00:16:00] Yeah.
[00:16:00] I could see him.
[00:16:01] Like the long like cigar and like the top hat.
[00:16:04] Like I could see.
[00:16:05] That'd be a great Halloween costume.
[00:16:07] Yeah.
[00:16:08] Anyway.
[00:16:09] He has the monocle because he broke his glasses.
[00:16:11] Yes.
[00:16:11] It's true.
[00:16:12] All right.
[00:16:13] So that basically, I think there's only one person in the whole tribe that talks to Dale.
[00:16:18] I think that that's probably the part of the problem.
[00:16:20] Like he really like burned the bridges with Missy and Baylor pretty hard at the last vote.
[00:16:25] And so he's going to John Mish and he's saying to John Mish, like I found the idol.
[00:16:30] And so I've got the idol.
[00:16:32] And if I'm still here tomorrow, I'll give it to you.
[00:16:35] Have we talked about how the men of San Juan del Sur, I think like you could map all of them onto dogs?
[00:16:42] Interesting.
[00:16:42] I think you could probably like, I'm just trying to think of like, like I think every single man, maybe we could just say that.
[00:16:48] Man Juan del Sur.
[00:16:49] But I think like the man Juan del Sur is like, I think that you could probably map all of them onto dogs because I think like John Mish has like this huge like golden retriever energy.
[00:17:02] Right.
[00:17:02] For sure.
[00:17:03] He just like, like Dale comes up.
[00:17:05] He's like, wow, Dale, is that tennis ball for me?
[00:17:08] Like, he was like, and I'll give it to you afterwards.
[00:17:10] And it's like maybe like, you know, someone's like walking the John Mish dog being like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
[00:17:15] You're not going anywhere near that ball.
[00:17:16] That ball is not for you.
[00:17:17] It's a trick.
[00:17:18] I feel like some of these others like Alec and Wes, like they kind of like speak for themselves a bit.
[00:17:23] And Dale's kind of right now got like a little bit of like that junkyard pit bull vibe going on.
[00:17:29] Back against the wall.
[00:17:31] He's Mr. Worldwide right now.
[00:17:33] Mr. World's a part wide.
[00:17:36] So I think, I think like we could probably spend some shout out to my dogs in the chat.
[00:17:41] Yeah.
[00:17:42] So I think we could spend some time on the, the, the dogs of San Juan.
[00:17:47] All right.
[00:17:48] John Mish though.
[00:17:49] He is hook, line and singer.
[00:17:50] Like, well, Dale's got the idol.
[00:17:52] Yeah.
[00:17:53] So I got to play with Dale.
[00:17:54] He's got the idol.
[00:17:56] Okay.
[00:17:56] He's very much thinking about Dale's offer.
[00:17:58] All right.
[00:17:58] But really it's interesting.
[00:18:00] This is Dale's boot episode, but really the whole, most of the episode we focus on what's
[00:18:04] going on with Hunapu.
[00:18:06] Yes.
[00:18:06] Much more of a Hunapu heavy episode, even though Koyopa goes to tribal council at Hunapu.
[00:18:12] They are expecting Jeff to come because they have very little rice.
[00:18:18] Jeremy does not think this is a good idea.
[00:18:21] He doesn't like this trade.
[00:18:22] He says it's mind boggling what these guys are doing.
[00:18:27] This is, this is the, this is the moment, right?
[00:18:30] Which is it?
[00:18:31] Which one?
[00:18:32] Is this, these guys are so dumb?
[00:18:34] I don't know if he says that this week.
[00:18:35] Yeah.
[00:18:36] Has he said it yet?
[00:18:37] No, he doesn't say, uh, I didn't catch it.
[00:18:41] If he did, I don't think he said these guys are so dumb.
[00:18:43] This is that he said this about them, uh, this week.
[00:18:48] We're all happy.
[00:18:49] I'm pissed.
[00:18:50] You know, he just took all our stuff.
[00:18:52] Yo.
[00:18:54] Why are y'all happy?
[00:18:58] Yeah.
[00:18:59] Yeah.
[00:18:59] Yeah.
[00:19:00] That's what he says when he goes to the Halloween party, uh, the Adam Sandler themed party and everyone got dressed up as happy Gilmore.
[00:19:09] Yeah.
[00:19:09] There's so many other characters.
[00:19:10] Why are y'all happy?
[00:19:12] Why y'all, why y'all happy?
[00:19:13] Yeah.
[00:19:14] Yeah.
[00:19:14] Mm-hmm.
[00:19:14] There's our obligatory, uh, Billy Madison, uh, Sandler Madison shout out here.
[00:19:19] Do we have to do one every week?
[00:19:21] I didn't even know that.
[00:19:21] We used to, uh, how it worked, uh, was we had to get one in per volume.
[00:19:27] Okay.
[00:19:28] Of the evolution of strategy.
[00:19:29] So.
[00:19:30] Nailed it.
[00:19:30] We got it here for whatever Chester's brought that whatever the hell all this is.
[00:19:35] All right.
[00:19:36] So here comes Jeff and he comes in and he's talking about how like, this is really, uh, unprecedented.
[00:19:44] You all have been blowing it and that's not floods of 2001.
[00:19:51] Yes.
[00:19:52] He said, there's only been one other time that we have had to do this and step in.
[00:19:56] And that was all the way back in Australia and there was extenuating circumstances there.
[00:20:01] Tina almost drowned.
[00:20:03] Tina almost got surrounded and drowned.
[00:20:05] I don't really know if there were extenuating circumstances.
[00:20:08] I think they just ran out of rice.
[00:20:10] Like there was, they, the camp got flooded, but Tina went and saved the rice.
[00:20:14] Yeah.
[00:20:15] It wasn't like the flood took their rice away and they had to get more rice.
[00:20:18] Right.
[00:20:18] They ate their rice.
[00:20:20] They ate their rice.
[00:20:20] And then the rice.
[00:20:22] Eat your rice.
[00:20:22] Yeah.
[00:20:22] The rice that they paid for with Colby's flag, uh, was, was endangered.
[00:20:30] Um, yeah.
[00:20:30] I'm not sure if they had gotten more rice at that time or not.
[00:20:33] I don't remember at that point.
[00:20:35] Uh, can I propose in the future?
[00:20:37] Cause I know that like in the new era, we're doing like the, all right, here we are at that
[00:20:42] same point.
[00:20:43] Every season's the challenge.
[00:20:44] Who's stepping up.
[00:20:45] Who's coming with rice negotiation.
[00:20:47] You know, um, can we do like rice quest instead where like we have to like send people off
[00:20:54] on some sort of like Tina Wesson-esque adventure to get the rice rather than having to give stuff
[00:21:01] I think we need a two hour episode for that.
[00:21:03] Yeah.
[00:21:03] Special.
[00:21:04] Mm-hmm.
[00:21:05] We got 90 minute episodes now.
[00:21:06] We can certainly fit in rice quest.
[00:21:08] It's tight.
[00:21:09] It's tight.
[00:21:10] We don't have time for more stuff.
[00:21:11] Okay.
[00:21:11] All right.
[00:21:12] So this is a real exciting moment.
[00:21:17] Uh, Jeff wants to know what, what happened here?
[00:21:21] Reed, tell me about what, what's, what's going on here.
[00:21:24] Reed, what does that say about this tribe?
[00:21:28] Um, there were too many cooks in the kitchen and they all wanted to use too much rice.
[00:21:33] Sounds like there were too many patrons in the kitchen.
[00:21:35] That's true.
[00:21:35] Oh, not enough patrons if you ask me.
[00:21:38] Not enough patrons.
[00:21:39] And would you believe, I have to imagine, uh, 10 years ago while we were talking about
[00:21:46] this episode of San Juan del Sur, not only were we making the same, oh, never too many
[00:21:52] patrons jokes, but weren't we making jokes about another thing that has just turned 10 years
[00:22:02] Yeah.
[00:22:02] This is, uh, the amazing part of all of this, of, uh, here we go.
[00:22:08] Uh, today is the 10 year anniversary.
[00:22:09] This was yesterday.
[00:22:11] Today is the 10 year anniversary of too many cooks airing at like 3 AM, uh, scaring the crap
[00:22:16] out of people who are up late and stoned watching adults swim.
[00:22:19] It's the weirdest project I've ever done.
[00:22:21] And I'm proud to be part of such an insane and iconic video.
[00:22:26] Yes.
[00:22:26] Can we play the full clip?
[00:22:29] Uh, of too many cooks or roll real quick.
[00:22:33] Uh, we just, uh, too many cooks played for the very first time, 24 hours, roughly before
[00:22:42] Jeff and Reed are talking about there being too many cooks.
[00:22:46] Yeah.
[00:22:47] And now 10 years later, we're talking about it.
[00:22:52] Is this the time travel season?
[00:22:54] Did it take a lot to make a stew?
[00:22:57] I think you totally undersold the stew.
[00:23:02] The lamb and the stew and cider too.
[00:23:05] I like what you said about stew.
[00:23:11] I think that we're at the time travel season.
[00:23:15] Bring back the credit sequence for too many cooks, you cowards.
[00:23:18] Oh God.
[00:23:20] Incredible.
[00:23:21] How many people are, uh, engaging with this particular podcast that don't know too many
[00:23:26] cooks?
[00:23:27] Yeah.
[00:23:27] I showed it to my kids like a year or two ago.
[00:23:29] They enjoyed it.
[00:23:30] I got to imagine they loved it.
[00:23:33] Target demo.
[00:23:35] Yeah.
[00:23:36] Bang bullseye.
[00:23:37] Mm hmm.
[00:23:38] Yeah.
[00:23:39] Okay.
[00:23:40] All right.
[00:23:41] Well, too many.
[00:23:41] What a time.
[00:23:42] What a time.
[00:23:43] Too many cooks.
[00:23:44] A lot.
[00:23:44] A lot of.
[00:23:45] I saw a lot of tweets about 10 year anniversary of too many cooks.
[00:23:47] Really?
[00:23:48] Yeah.
[00:23:49] Should we do a podcast of rewatch too many cooks to your anniversary?
[00:23:52] Uh, do we put that out?
[00:23:54] I guess it's a, we know scripted special, right?
[00:23:56] Yeah.
[00:23:58] I think so.
[00:23:59] Yes.
[00:23:59] Okay.
[00:24:00] All right.
[00:24:01] This is for the real deep cut people.
[00:24:05] This whole podcast is, by the way.
[00:24:09] Yeah.
[00:24:10] All right.
[00:24:10] I stand too many cook islands.
[00:24:13] Yeah.
[00:24:13] So Jeff is going to take everything, everything you won in the rewards.
[00:24:20] Uh, we're take, taking it all.
[00:24:22] And then you're going to be back to a machete, a pot and Flint.
[00:24:26] It's like, Hey, this is like the new era.
[00:24:30] Yeah.
[00:24:30] They basically just, uh, they also time traveled, right?
[00:24:33] They also just got vaulted 10 years into the future.
[00:24:36] And considering that the merge is going to be like in two days, it's like fine.
[00:24:40] Whatever.
[00:24:40] Considering that they're about to eat beef and chicken skewers.
[00:24:43] Well, that was Jeremy's point of like, we could just win a reward y'all.
[00:24:48] Well, the other tribe doesn't ever win a challenge.
[00:24:52] Jeremy, we win everything.
[00:24:54] Jeremy did the, uh, the, uh, the, the starvation strategy before this season.
[00:25:00] Is that right?
[00:25:01] I believe so.
[00:25:02] He like didn't eat for, for weeks, uh, going into this season.
[00:25:07] So he's already hungry.
[00:25:09] Uh, that's a secret cap.
[00:25:11] So he doesn't have to worry about the food the way the rest of these people are.
[00:25:15] Uh, but yeah, he's like, I don't know why we're doing all this.
[00:25:19] Do you think that this is a fair trade?
[00:25:21] I do feel like when Jeff is like his fair trade.
[00:25:23] Well, it's certainly sound.
[00:25:25] I, I feel like losing any of this stuff sucks for, for these people, but I feel like
[00:25:31] it's just like, it's like, uh, do you know that like, uh, that video, like, uh, that video
[00:25:36] series on, on Instagram of like the mom who packs the lunch for her daughter every day?
[00:25:42] I don't like her yogurt, her breath mints, her, her lunchable sausage snack, uh, her note.
[00:25:51] Uh, and like, she's just like constantly filling it up.
[00:25:54] It's like, that's what Jeff is doing.
[00:25:55] He, except he's taking it out of the lunchbox.
[00:25:57] Yeah.
[00:25:57] He's just like constantly listing things that are being removed from the
[00:26:00] camp.
[00:26:01] And I feel like because of like the length of the list, it sounds really particularly
[00:26:07] apocalyptic.
[00:26:08] Yeah.
[00:26:09] Um, this was a good enough trade.
[00:26:11] I think that, you know, the weather being what it, uh, was like, I think that it was
[00:26:15] going to be uncomfortable no matter what the tarps or the hammocks and the pillows and
[00:26:20] everything were about to be ruined.
[00:26:21] They weren't going to fish, uh, in this weather.
[00:26:24] And so I think, I think it was fine.
[00:26:27] So I don't know what happens with, do they get more rice at the merge?
[00:26:30] I don't know if we get an explanation of that.
[00:26:32] He says enough rice to last you through the end of the game.
[00:26:38] Yeah.
[00:26:38] But you only gave it to one tribe.
[00:26:41] Like, uh, so they're going to eat it all.
[00:26:44] It gets to the merge.
[00:26:45] You guys touch Koyopa's bag.
[00:26:49] Mm-hmm.
[00:26:49] I'll kill you.
[00:26:50] Yeah.
[00:26:51] So.
[00:26:51] Straight out.
[00:26:52] All right.
[00:26:53] Anyway, Julie is worried about the rain and I think it was ominous.
[00:26:57] It was a little cloudy already and overcast and things were not going to go, uh, great.
[00:27:01] Well, and we have the super preview, right?
[00:27:05] Like we have the super preview at this point that's telling us, uh, someone's going to like,
[00:27:09] are you saying you're quitting the game?
[00:27:11] And so like a full episode before it happens, we're getting once again, uh, prepped for it.
[00:27:17] And I think like, this is one of those signals of like, certainly at this moment, I feel like maybe,
[00:27:23] uh, things softened in the new era towards, no, Jeff still really hates a quit.
[00:27:31] Hates a quit.
[00:27:32] Uh, really doesn't like a quit.
[00:27:34] No, I think this is when he is, we'll get there next week, but I think that we could talk about the
[00:27:39] evolution of Jeff's feelings on quitters.
[00:27:41] I think he's pretty much like, uh, fine, uh, on the quits.
[00:27:44] And then I think, I think when it comes to like, uh, like making an example in like the production
[00:27:50] of like wanting to really sell that, like, this is not the behavior we're seeking from, uh,
[00:27:57] from our survivor players.
[00:27:58] Don't do it.
[00:27:59] Yeah.
[00:27:59] I don't think he really is going to dress down Julie, uh, in the next episode.
[00:28:03] I think he's gonna be pretty compassionate.
[00:28:04] I think there's also a difference between how he treats men that quit and how he treats women
[00:28:08] that quit in the history of the show.
[00:28:10] But nowadays, spicy Jeff does not like quitters.
[00:28:14] We're back.
[00:28:15] Doesn't like a quitter.
[00:28:15] We're so back.
[00:28:16] Okay.
[00:28:17] What do you mean you're quitting?
[00:28:18] It's 20 days.
[00:28:19] You know, you're here for a week.
[00:28:21] No, they don't like it when you say that.
[00:28:24] Let's talk about Hero Arena.
[00:28:26] All right.
[00:28:27] And in Hero Arena today, we're going to get a big matchup.
[00:28:32] Reed versus Baylor in the blindfold.
[00:28:35] Put the mask together challenge.
[00:28:37] How did this go?
[00:28:38] I could hear it and how it sounded was like, there was an obstacle.
[00:28:45] I feel like this must have taken nine hours.
[00:28:47] How do you like, how do you go and like feel like the puzzle and this fake decoy pieces?
[00:28:53] And I don't know.
[00:28:54] Did they have to be used people that hadn't already done?
[00:28:57] I don't know how we got onto it's Reed versus Baylor.
[00:29:00] But anyway, yada, yada, yada.
[00:29:03] Reed wins.
[00:29:04] And so Reed has to pick who's going to go and take his spot and go to Exile Island with Baylor.
[00:29:12] And Reed is like, I'm going to pick Julie.
[00:29:16] Yeah.
[00:29:17] And now Julie is already on the verge of quitting.
[00:29:20] Did it was Reed?
[00:29:21] Have we talked about that?
[00:29:22] We've probably talked about this before.
[00:29:23] It was Reed.
[00:29:24] Reed was picking Julie because he wanted to break her, right?
[00:29:26] Had to be.
[00:29:28] Had to be.
[00:29:29] Had to be.
[00:29:30] You know, in the in the real time of watching it, like you can see what's telegraphed that
[00:29:36] Julie is going to quit.
[00:29:37] So like maybe I don't know.
[00:29:39] We'll have to consult the Stan Juan del Surrogates.
[00:29:43] Shout out to Danielle, who I met at I Stand Cagayan.
[00:29:47] If this was something that was being talked about on the podcast at the time, I can't.
[00:29:51] We'll go.
[00:29:51] I got some notes from Danielle and like from Josh.
[00:29:54] It was certainly something that we were discussing in the car today.
[00:30:00] Yeah.
[00:30:01] Of like, that's what it feels like.
[00:30:03] And I think especially with like the benefit of knowing Reed's like like the death to which he will descend by the end of this season.
[00:30:14] Does not care for Missy.
[00:30:16] And it certainly feels like maybe he's just like trying to push her off.
[00:30:19] I didn't pull the clip for this.
[00:30:21] But so when Natalie is like, actually, I'll you know, I was going to volunteer and Reed is like very much like, well, if you insist, I guess you can go and take her.
[00:30:36] If you want to go so badly, I guess I won't stop you.
[00:30:40] But so did Reed have an opportunity to like consult with the tribe about the decision?
[00:30:49] I think he could have.
[00:30:50] And I think that just because Natalie says, I want to go, I think it's a Q situation.
[00:30:55] Like, like, you know, somebody could say like, hey, like I'll Liz can have my spot.
[00:31:00] Survivor Q or Star Trek Q?
[00:31:01] Survivor Q.
[00:31:03] And like he could he could say, no, I don't want Natalie to go to Exile Island.
[00:31:08] I want Julie to go to Exile Island.
[00:31:11] Could you imagine if Star Trek Q was responsible for making these calls?
[00:31:15] Hmm.
[00:31:16] Hero Reina would be crazy if Q was in charge.
[00:31:19] It would be pretty fun.
[00:31:21] But I feel like if Reed has the opportunity to consult with the group, why is he just immediately coming out with?
[00:31:29] I think it should be Julie.
[00:31:31] But who do you want him to consult with?
[00:31:33] Like, I'm sure he's talking to his guys.
[00:31:35] What are we thinking?
[00:31:36] Instead of him just being like, I think.
[00:31:38] But I think the group has like different interests.
[00:31:41] I think that Jeremy and Natalie don't want Julie to go to.
[00:31:45] And I think that him and Josh and Alec and Wes are probably would like to see Julie quit the game.
[00:31:52] So is it like open hostilities at this point?
[00:31:54] We think I don't think it's open hostilities, but I think that there's like a little bit of like a seemingly a line in the sand that,
[00:32:01] you know, Jeremy and Natalie are with Baylor and are with Baylor and Missy.
[00:32:07] And I think that John and Jacqueline are like the true free agents.
[00:32:10] Yeah.
[00:32:11] Okay.
[00:32:12] Anyway, Natalie's like, I'll just go.
[00:32:15] Yeah.
[00:32:16] This was a great move by Natalie.
[00:32:18] I mean, this is really the start of Natalie's like meteoric rise to the top in this season where she signals to Missy.
[00:32:25] I'm going to take care of Baylor.
[00:32:27] You know, she's never had any interaction with Baylor before.
[00:32:29] And she gets to bond with her.
[00:32:31] She gets the clue to the idol.
[00:32:32] So a lot of good things come out of this.
[00:32:35] Yeah.
[00:32:36] Smart play for sure.
[00:32:37] Yeah.
[00:32:37] I think.
[00:32:38] And a hard thing to do, I feel like is like, you know, you can't quite smell those kebabs yet.
[00:32:45] Yes.
[00:32:46] You know, she's she's surrendering her spot in the kebab.
[00:32:50] I think she's also feeling like I'm saving Julie.
[00:32:53] Like this was like accomplished like a lot of goals for Natalie.
[00:32:56] And I think that also like because of this move here, she has a home after Jeremy gets blindsided.
[00:33:01] Like I think that had she not signaled to Missy ahead of time, like Missy and Baylor are going to do a lot of work to protect Natalie after Jeremy gets blindsided.
[00:33:10] But anyway.
[00:33:11] Now, I believe before she goes and before like now, Reed, who are you sending?
[00:33:16] Keeping in mind that whoever goes is probably is the operative word I believe he says is probably not going to get to enjoy this reward.
[00:33:26] And I guess my question is if like if they had set aside a pair of skewers for Natalie on her return, would she eat it if it was available?
[00:33:41] Would you eat?
[00:33:42] Day old meat skewers, Rob, if they were set aside for you after you came back from Exile Island?
[00:33:48] As much as I hate to waste food.
[00:33:55] Yeah.
[00:33:56] I still I don't think you should eat chicken or beef that's been left out in the elements for over 24 hours.
[00:34:05] Well, then I really think I got to see.
[00:34:07] Well, we got to hear from Brandon Donlan, how he did trying all of the cheesesteak places in Philadelphia.
[00:34:12] And then we'll get his take on it.
[00:34:14] Famously, they just like sun kiss those steaks.
[00:34:18] Right.
[00:34:19] Like that's how they get the sear on him.
[00:34:22] I feel like maybe Jeff should have taken out the word probably and should have just said you're going to miss out on the thing because the fools of Hunapu, I think, could have heard probably and been like, oh, that's a good idea.
[00:34:36] We should set one of these aside.
[00:34:37] No, they weren't going to set anything aside.
[00:34:39] Oh, maybe we could cook one and just bring it to the challenge tomorrow.
[00:34:43] Yeah.
[00:34:43] That'll get rid of it.
[00:34:45] No.
[00:34:46] All right.
[00:34:46] So meanwhile, back at Coyopa, very light Keith Nail episode.
[00:34:50] And it's interesting, like we have our two later days guys, Keith and Dale.
[00:34:56] They seemingly have no interaction whatsoever in the time that they are together.
[00:35:02] Interestingly, one of these guys has the real idol.
[00:35:06] Yes.
[00:35:06] And is like, hey, I got it.
[00:35:08] I got my backup plan.
[00:35:09] And then Dale has the fake idol and is really signaling to everybody.
[00:35:13] Well, I don't want to have to play my idol tonight, but I will.
[00:35:17] Yeah.
[00:35:18] Yeah.
[00:35:18] But there's some symmetry there between the two of them.
[00:35:20] Totally.
[00:35:21] Yeah.
[00:35:21] Yeah.
[00:35:21] One is a one is a fake.
[00:35:23] One is the genuine article.
[00:35:25] Yes.
[00:35:25] Okay.
[00:35:25] And so we see that Dale showing John the idol and John is passing the information along
[00:35:32] to Missy.
[00:35:34] This is this not our first opportunity.
[00:35:37] I can't imagine.
[00:35:38] I mean, other than like the countdown, I can't imagine where was the opportunity to really
[00:35:42] talk about like, is it in the blood when it comes to like island idol creativity where
[00:35:51] like Kelly Wentworth is going to be a very strong idol player?
[00:35:55] Her father maybe isn't the strongest idol player, but there's some ingenuity.
[00:36:00] He's trying things.
[00:36:03] Is it?
[00:36:05] I think they're scrappy.
[00:36:07] Underdog Wentworth is a term that I've heard thrown around.
[00:36:10] See, the dogs.
[00:36:12] They're back.
[00:36:12] Shout out to my dogs at the crib.
[00:36:14] And Kelly Wentworth loves dogs.
[00:36:16] She does.
[00:36:17] She's a big dog lover.
[00:36:18] Big into them.
[00:36:19] Yeah.
[00:36:19] For sure.
[00:36:20] All right.
[00:36:20] So then out on Exile Island, Natalie and Baylor, they have a moment that Baylor gets the idol
[00:36:28] clue.
[00:36:29] They were going to come back to that eventually.
[00:36:32] Hunapu is enjoying the kebabs.
[00:36:36] Everything is annoying Jeremy.
[00:36:39] Jeremy talks about Josh and Reed.
[00:36:41] They're too lovey-dovey.
[00:36:44] If me and Val were out here, it would be like we didn't know each other.
[00:36:50] Yeah.
[00:36:51] Yeah.
[00:36:52] Would you and Nicole have acknowledged each other's existence?
[00:36:56] Would we be too schmoopy?
[00:36:58] Is that the question?
[00:36:59] Yeah.
[00:36:59] We would not be schmoopy.
[00:37:00] If you went out to dinner with us, we wouldn't be schmoopy.
[00:37:06] Let alone on Survivor.
[00:37:08] Like be all schmoopy.
[00:37:10] Yeah.
[00:37:10] Lovey-dovey.
[00:37:12] Should we be grudging these people for being schmoopy with their loved ones?
[00:37:18] This feels a little bitter.
[00:37:20] This feels like a little bit of a bitter Jeremy here.
[00:37:23] It's like just, you know, listen, let them enjoy all the time that they do have together.
[00:37:27] You know, some of these loved one pairs will last longer than others, both at the game and IRL.
[00:37:38] Yeah.
[00:37:39] I say let them schmoop.
[00:37:40] Yeah.
[00:37:40] I think that Jeremy was like also just beside himself.
[00:37:44] That's like this is bad strategy also.
[00:37:46] Like they're doing it and it's also that it's not even good gameplay.
[00:37:50] What?
[00:37:51] They're going to hide the fact that they're Broadway boyfriends?
[00:37:55] I don't think so.
[00:37:56] Everyone knows.
[00:37:57] Yeah.
[00:37:57] Like on another season.
[00:37:59] Yeah.
[00:38:00] Maybe Jeremy is also a little extra sensitive too because his loved one is gone.
[00:38:04] That's what I'm saying.
[00:38:05] He's bitter.
[00:38:06] Yeah.
[00:38:07] Yeah.
[00:38:07] Bitter.
[00:38:09] Okay.
[00:38:10] Why are you so bitter?
[00:38:12] They're enjoying all of the delicious kebabs.
[00:38:17] And we hear from Alec just how much he is enjoying this reward.
[00:38:25] I'm a meat collector.
[00:38:26] I eat meat a lot.
[00:38:28] It was ridiculous.
[00:38:30] My skirt was blown up.
[00:38:32] We don't talk enough about skirt was blown up.
[00:38:35] Yeah.
[00:38:36] I think that we probably missed our moment to really make a meal out of that back in the day.
[00:38:44] Now, what's the context of skirt was blown up?
[00:38:47] Like I'm having like mental imagery of like Marilyn Monroe is like walking across.
[00:38:53] Like that's what the meat is doing to him.
[00:38:56] Yeah.
[00:38:57] Yeah.
[00:38:57] I don't think he's thinking of Marilyn Monroe.
[00:39:00] I'm not entirely sure he knows who that is.
[00:39:02] Was it skirt steak?
[00:39:04] That was my initial impression.
[00:39:06] The skirt was blown up.
[00:39:08] The skirt was like blowing me up.
[00:39:10] The sirloin was to die for.
[00:39:13] The London broil is always bad.
[00:39:15] So it was pretty bad out here as well.
[00:39:17] The brisket was off the chain.
[00:39:19] You know.
[00:39:19] So like I but I do feel like it blew my skirt up.
[00:39:26] The skirt was blown up.
[00:39:28] My skirt was blown up is what he says.
[00:39:30] Can we hear it again?
[00:39:31] Just let it rip one more time, please.
[00:39:34] My skirt was blown up.
[00:39:36] My skirt.
[00:39:37] My skirt.
[00:39:39] My skirt was blown up.
[00:39:41] My skirt was blown up.
[00:39:43] Yeah.
[00:39:44] I think because I'm a meat collector is such an insane phrase.
[00:39:50] Has anybody else in the history of the English language ever said that sentence?
[00:39:55] Like as an original thought.
[00:39:56] As an original thought.
[00:39:57] Not as a reference to Alex Christie.
[00:39:59] No.
[00:39:59] Alex Christie placed those words next to each other for the first time.
[00:40:05] No one had ever done that before.
[00:40:09] I am.
[00:40:12] Even we start to get into meat.
[00:40:15] Like I think people have probably said I am a meat cute fan.
[00:40:20] Like I love a meat cute.
[00:40:23] But even then we're pushing it.
[00:40:24] I think once meat gets introduced, I think we already have four words next to each other
[00:40:29] that have not really had a lot of familiarity.
[00:40:31] A meat collector.
[00:40:33] I'm not.
[00:40:33] I'm not.
[00:40:34] Way over the line.
[00:40:35] Way past.
[00:40:37] Way.
[00:40:37] Way down.
[00:40:38] Josh, when you are eating things, are you collecting them?
[00:40:40] In your stomach?
[00:40:42] Yeah, I suppose.
[00:40:44] It's only for a short time.
[00:40:46] But every single day I lose my collection.
[00:40:49] Yeah.
[00:40:49] Yeah.
[00:40:50] And I don't get a lot in return for it.
[00:40:54] Mm-hmm.
[00:40:55] Yeah.
[00:40:55] It's a pretty shitty collection.
[00:40:57] Okay.
[00:40:58] But I think if he hadn't laid those otherwise innocuous words next to each other in such a bizarre
[00:41:10] confident.
[00:41:11] There's a confidence in, I'm a meat collector.
[00:41:14] Like that's going to impress me.
[00:41:16] That's going to impress whoever is conducting the interview.
[00:41:20] I'm a meat collector.
[00:41:20] I eat meat a lot.
[00:41:22] A lot.
[00:41:23] It was ridiculous.
[00:41:24] My skirt was blown up.
[00:41:26] That whole thing actually is unbelievable.
[00:41:30] That whole, every last word in that confessional.
[00:41:33] I eat meat a lot.
[00:41:35] A lot.
[00:41:36] It was ridiculous.
[00:41:38] Mm-hmm.
[00:41:38] What are we talking about?
[00:41:41] I eat meat a lot.
[00:41:42] I eat meat a lot.
[00:41:44] I mean, I eat meat a lot.
[00:41:45] My skirt is rarely blown up.
[00:41:47] Yeah.
[00:41:48] What did he, what's the skirt line exactly again?
[00:41:51] My skirt was blown up, I think he says.
[00:41:54] My skirt was blown up.
[00:42:01] Now, like.
[00:42:02] I don't want to think about why.
[00:42:04] Yeah.
[00:42:04] That is a phrase that Al Christie had at the ready.
[00:42:06] I really don't because I know it's not because of Marilyn Monroe.
[00:42:08] My skirt was blown up or my skirt was blowing up of like.
[00:42:12] Like, it wasn't like, it didn't have like some sort of like a gassy effect on him.
[00:42:16] Right?
[00:42:17] Yeah.
[00:42:18] I mean.
[00:42:20] I don't know.
[00:42:21] Somebody who eats meat a lot.
[00:42:23] I would like to think that his collection is fairly pristine.
[00:42:28] Yes.
[00:42:28] And also that I encourage Alec at some point, you know, when he's video, make sure you get
[00:42:32] a colonoscopy also.
[00:42:34] Uh-huh.
[00:42:35] 10 years greater.
[00:42:36] How old is Alec Christie?
[00:42:37] He's not quite in colonoscopy.
[00:42:39] No, not quite.
[00:42:40] Maybe 10 years after this.
[00:42:42] He's probably, I would imagine like 34.
[00:42:46] Yeah.
[00:42:48] I'm getting close to colonoscopy striking distance myself.
[00:42:50] Mm-hmm.
[00:42:51] Oof.
[00:42:52] How old is Alec Christie?
[00:42:55] Google's like, who?
[00:42:56] Yeah.
[00:42:57] 30, 33 now.
[00:42:58] Okay.
[00:42:59] Born September 7th, 1991.
[00:43:02] Wow.
[00:43:03] Wow.
[00:43:04] Yes.
[00:43:05] Okay.
[00:43:06] Well, uh, here's to 10 years of meat collecting for Alec Christie.
[00:43:12] Can I tell you the ultimate irony of it all?
[00:43:15] Well, the meat is very irony.
[00:43:17] Yeah.
[00:43:18] Yeah.
[00:43:19] High in iron.
[00:43:20] Mm-hmm.
[00:43:21] More of a fish collector.
[00:43:22] More of a fish collector.
[00:43:24] Now, uh, do we think Alec Christie, uh, thinks that, uh, fish is meat?
[00:43:29] I'm a fish collector.
[00:43:32] You gotta get back to some people.
[00:43:33] I feel like you can collect fish because you can put them on the wall.
[00:43:37] Yeah, you do.
[00:43:38] Yeah.
[00:43:38] And you could collect meat as well.
[00:43:40] It'd just be like kind of, kind of gross.
[00:43:42] Yeah.
[00:43:43] Who's, he's, he went, uh, to Halloween with someone who's dressed as, uh, uh, Reno, uh,
[00:43:49] 911.
[00:43:49] Yeah.
[00:43:51] And he's, he's young money.
[00:43:53] Yeah.
[00:43:53] But this is like 417 weeks ago.
[00:43:55] So this was like in 2016.
[00:43:57] Okay.
[00:43:58] Yeah.
[00:43:58] More of a fish collector.
[00:44:00] I don't know how recent these, uh, these, uh, fish 400 and how many weeks ago?
[00:44:05] Uh, this is 288 weeks ago.
[00:44:07] Okay.
[00:44:08] That's two.
[00:44:08] It could be a little bit off the Instagram grid.
[00:44:11] This is 2019 is when he last posted one of his, uh, collected, uh, quote unquote meats,
[00:44:19] which is indeed just a fish, which means that his, uh, Halloween post is, is from even earlier.
[00:44:26] Remember Drew wanted the fishing equipment.
[00:44:29] He's a fish collector.
[00:44:30] He's a fish collector.
[00:44:31] Okay.
[00:44:32] All right.
[00:44:33] Uh, so we get a little bit also about Julie is feeling down.
[00:44:36] It's not going so good.
[00:44:38] Jeremy needs her to stay out there.
[00:44:40] Alec is not very compassionate towards her.
[00:44:43] Um, let's go to our immunity challenge.
[00:44:46] And, uh, we've like a, I'll explain to you what was going on here.
[00:44:50] It was like a big cube.
[00:44:53] Um, I'm trying to think of the, did we have the big cube again recently in, in survivor
[00:44:57] or was that earlier this season that we used the big cube in the challenge?
[00:45:01] Uh, do you remember seeing a big, like giant cube?
[00:45:07] Yeah, that's fine.
[00:45:09] It's fine.
[00:45:09] Uh, they had to roll the cube, get the keys down.
[00:45:13] And ultimately, Oh, right.
[00:45:14] There's like the little bamboo things, like the little shafts that have things that you
[00:45:18] got to take stuff out of.
[00:45:20] Yeah.
[00:45:20] Something like that.
[00:45:21] Um, and then ultimately, uh, it comes down to a, um, uh, raise a sale puzzle, raise the
[00:45:28] sale.
[00:45:29] Yeah.
[00:45:29] And Coyopa actually has a pretty good lead, but when it comes down to it, John Mish on
[00:45:34] the sale puzzle was no match for Josh and Reed.
[00:45:37] Yeah.
[00:45:38] Uh, John Mish or Rome on the puzzle is an interesting question.
[00:45:43] Right.
[00:45:43] John Mish, I think did better.
[00:45:44] John Mish at least got a couple of pieces of the sale, uh, out there.
[00:45:48] Okay.
[00:45:48] Yeah.
[00:45:49] Um, so, all right, who not boo go back to camp.
[00:45:51] Coyopa.
[00:45:52] Coyopa.
[00:45:53] Dale says, this is going to be, this loss is going to be a hard night for these guys
[00:45:57] because somebody's loved one is going home today.
[00:46:00] Somebody who's loved one is going home tonight.
[00:46:02] And I was surprised.
[00:46:04] Jeff was like, I think it's so great that all these days later you have formed such close
[00:46:09] bonds that you consider them your loved ones.
[00:46:11] Dale.
[00:46:13] Yeah.
[00:46:14] Jeff is going to pursue this line of questioning at tribal council, but I think in the moment
[00:46:18] he's like, what?
[00:46:20] Yeah.
[00:46:21] What are you?
[00:46:22] Okay.
[00:46:22] Well, you know, there is this.
[00:46:24] Dale is selling so hard.
[00:46:26] Like here's the, here's the, like, you know, if these players were good, they would have
[00:46:29] sniffed this out a mile away that Dale doesn't have anything.
[00:46:32] And I, and I think like, you know, at least, you know, at this point, maybe Jeff is still
[00:46:36] in the place where he's like, wait, Dale, what do you have?
[00:46:38] Right now I am in a tight situation because I don't have an idol.
[00:46:42] I don't have anything.
[00:46:44] I am just lying.
[00:46:48] Yeah.
[00:46:48] It's a Dale and Val really come full circle on this.
[00:46:51] Yeah.
[00:46:51] Dale definitely went to the Val Collins school of idol play.
[00:46:55] Uh, so he like, you know, he's, he's ready to fib.
[00:47:00] He's going to fib.
[00:47:02] He's going to bluff to blave.
[00:47:05] Yes.
[00:47:07] Speaking of loved ones.
[00:47:08] Yeah.
[00:47:08] Yeah.
[00:47:09] Yeah.
[00:47:10] I'm sorry.
[00:47:10] I interrupted you to play the Val clip.
[00:47:12] What were you going to say?
[00:47:13] Absolutely.
[00:47:14] No idea anymore.
[00:47:15] It's gone.
[00:47:15] All right.
[00:47:16] Couldn't have been that good.
[00:47:16] Couldn't have been that good.
[00:47:17] All right.
[00:47:18] So yeah, we're Dale is trying to get the votes on Missy.
[00:47:24] I think this is a mistake.
[00:47:24] I think he should be trying to push the votes on Keith.
[00:47:27] He does this wrong.
[00:47:29] He does this wrong.
[00:47:29] Uh, like I, I do think like, he's like, you gotta, you got room in the truck for one old
[00:47:35] guy.
[00:47:36] Uh, I'm just saying, take me with you, Michelin man.
[00:47:39] You know, like, I feel like he just like, uh, like throw Keith under the tuck.
[00:47:43] Yeah.
[00:47:44] Because, uh, he's, if he would have voted for Keith, it would be, the vote would be tied.
[00:47:50] I think they'd vote him out on the re-vote, but at least he'd force a tie.
[00:47:54] He votes for Missy here.
[00:47:57] Yeah.
[00:47:58] And I think like, he could have like, he must've been able to like suss out enough.
[00:48:02] Like, like, uh, Dale's.
[00:48:04] John Mish is not exactly, uh, the master liar, like, uh, that we know of.
[00:48:11] Uh, but Dale is like blind with hatred for Missy.
[00:48:17] Yeah.
[00:48:18] He didn't care for Missy.
[00:48:19] What did he say again?
[00:48:20] What did he?
[00:48:21] He, he, he said, he called her the B word last week.
[00:48:24] Bossy.
[00:48:25] Yeah.
[00:48:25] She's a boss.
[00:48:26] Bossy.
[00:48:27] Yeah.
[00:48:29] That wasn't the B word.
[00:48:30] He's, he said another B word also on top of that.
[00:48:33] Speaking of dogs.
[00:48:34] Like he, he just, uh, like, uh, he, he can't, he can't get the idea of voting anyone other
[00:48:43] than Missy out of his mind.
[00:48:46] Uh, like he, like the line was just crossed.
[00:48:49] Uh, and, uh, you know, she slaughtered my daughter.
[00:48:53] You know, like I feel like it's personal.
[00:48:55] It's this time it's personal.
[00:48:57] And so like, he can't see past that.
[00:48:59] Yep.
[00:49:00] Uh, and if he had seen past that, maybe, I don't know.
[00:49:04] Maybe.
[00:49:04] Okay.
[00:49:04] But John Mish really is like buying into like Dale said, he'll give me the idol.
[00:49:08] Like Jacqueline.
[00:49:09] We like, well, maybe we should keep him.
[00:49:10] Maybe we should come up with them.
[00:49:11] Like, uh, he's like, it could be me and you and we're in the best spot and we've got an
[00:49:14] idol now too.
[00:49:16] And Jack was like, like sweet summer child.
[00:49:19] Sweetheart.
[00:49:20] No, maybe no babe.
[00:49:22] You know, she babe texts him on that one.
[00:49:25] Uh, but Dale, I, uh, I love that John's like final confessional, uh, big John is Dale
[00:49:31] likes to call him, uh, big John's final confessional going to tribal council.
[00:49:36] It's like, I think my best move is to play with Dale.
[00:49:39] Take that idol that he's offering me.
[00:49:40] Uh, so like, you know, take his pog.
[00:49:43] We're trying to like get into, uh, into tribal council with a little bit of intrigue,
[00:49:49] but there isn't really much.
[00:49:51] Okay.
[00:49:51] All right.
[00:49:52] We go to tribal council and, uh, Dale says, Jeff asked, what did you mean by that earlier
[00:49:57] today about voting on a loved one?
[00:50:00] Um, and, uh, they're talking about a few different things that there's a very colorful
[00:50:04] metaphor that Baylor, uh, uses to describe her time at exile Island.
[00:50:09] She compares it to like being a kid who's lost their mom at the grocery store.
[00:50:19] Mm.
[00:50:20] Like that feels lived in.
[00:50:22] Mm.
[00:50:23] Yeah.
[00:50:24] Were you ever lost as a kid?
[00:50:26] I don't remember.
[00:50:28] I remember a big fear of being lost.
[00:50:31] I think, I think there was a lot of fear of like, like your fear or your parents.
[00:50:35] I think there was like a lot of fear of like in the store.
[00:50:37] Um, if you like wander off because like, we're still like disconnected.
[00:50:43] You could just not, you were, if you're supposed to meet somebody and the, and you weren't where
[00:50:48] they were, you were supposed to be and they weren't where they're supposed to be.
[00:50:50] You would just never see that person again.
[00:50:52] Like there was a lot of different ways.
[00:50:54] Yeah.
[00:50:55] Like you just like, uh, if you didn't nail it exactly, you could just miss an encounter
[00:51:00] entirely.
[00:51:01] And then that's it.
[00:51:02] I'll never see this person again.
[00:51:04] I have no way of getting in contact with this person.
[00:51:05] It is absolutely astounding that before cell phones, anyone was able to find each other.
[00:51:11] Now I put an air tag on my kids and then I never have to worry.
[00:51:15] They didn't know, they don't know about it.
[00:51:17] Yeah.
[00:51:18] It's like, what is this?
[00:51:19] Dad, I have this, my shirt is tag.
[00:51:21] It's like, at least leave it.
[00:51:23] Yeah.
[00:51:24] You're tagging your kids.
[00:51:25] No, not yet.
[00:51:27] Um, but you think about it.
[00:51:28] This is a good idea.
[00:51:30] It's not a bad idea.
[00:51:31] Uh, it's actually, you know what?
[00:51:32] I, I bought four air tags.
[00:51:34] I put, uh, Dominic has a, uh, so Dominic has a flip phone.
[00:51:38] My son has a flip phone and we didn't want him to have a, like a, like a full smartphone.
[00:51:44] We got him a dumb phone, but we air tagged the smartphone so we can like, sort of see
[00:51:49] where it is.
[00:51:50] I got three more air tags.
[00:51:51] I don't know what to do with them.
[00:51:52] Uh, I wish you'd brought some to fill.
[00:51:54] You could have air tagged me.
[00:51:55] I could have air tagged you.
[00:51:56] I'm thinking about, this is where my, my leading contenders for the other air tags.
[00:52:00] Yeah.
[00:52:00] I'm going to put one on the remote control.
[00:52:02] Smart.
[00:52:03] I can never find the remote.
[00:52:04] I'm like, where is the remote control that I waited on my whole life to have a nice TV
[00:52:09] that I can put on and my kids, they're constantly saying, I was gonna put an air tag on my car.
[00:52:13] Okay.
[00:52:14] Like I'm like, where am I parked again?
[00:52:16] Do you not have like one of those like, uh, like, uh, like smart things.
[00:52:19] It's like, oh, your car's parked over here or something.
[00:52:21] Um, I don't know if I do have that.
[00:52:23] I don't know how to operate it.
[00:52:25] Yeah.
[00:52:26] I've got, but I don't know.
[00:52:26] I don't know where else to air.
[00:52:28] What else to air tag your dog?
[00:52:31] Carmela that she, we have the invisible fence.
[00:52:34] She can't leave.
[00:52:36] Well, you know, I don't know that that would have stopped a shadow chance and sassy if they
[00:52:41] really had to get somewhere.
[00:52:42] So like if Carmela ever really needs to go, she may brave it.
[00:52:48] And then, then you're, then you're SOL.
[00:52:51] Yeah.
[00:52:51] But she's very concerned about getting the electric shock.
[00:52:54] If she, uh, hits the perimeter.
[00:52:57] So that would be like, but I'm saying that even Andy Dufresne was able to get out of Shawshank.
[00:53:03] She's not trying to get out.
[00:53:04] She doesn't want to leave.
[00:53:05] Yeah.
[00:53:06] But I don't know.
[00:53:07] I got to figure out what's the name.
[00:53:08] Is that who Alec, Rita Hayworth was maybe he was thinking about the blown up skirts?
[00:53:12] Being blown up skirts.
[00:53:13] Okay.
[00:53:13] Anyway, um, Baylor, when she cries, Missy cries, the whole, or when Missy cries, Baylor cries,
[00:53:20] the whole family cries.
[00:53:21] Uh, so anyway, uh, we get the votes, uh, comes in, uh, three votes for Dale, two votes for Keith,
[00:53:27] one vote for Missy.
[00:53:28] The, the wildest part of this whole tribal council is Dale gets voted out.
[00:53:33] Doesn't say anything.
[00:53:34] Dale, the tribe has spoken John.
[00:53:36] John then right after the Dale leaving says to Jacqueline, you're so beautiful.
[00:53:42] You're so beautiful.
[00:53:44] Focus.
[00:53:45] Yeah.
[00:53:46] Shmoopy.
[00:53:48] We're being a little shmoop.
[00:53:49] Can we have some respect for Dale?
[00:53:51] Please.
[00:53:51] The tribal council.
[00:53:53] Yeah.
[00:53:54] Well, maybe, maybe, you know, like you're saying that like, there's no context for it,
[00:53:57] but maybe the context is like Jacqueline was like honey bear, sweetie poo.
[00:54:03] In the light of tribal council.
[00:54:05] You look so beautiful.
[00:54:05] We got it.
[00:54:06] We got to let him go.
[00:54:07] And it's like, but I want the dog.
[00:54:10] And she's like, you can't have it.
[00:54:12] You can't have it.
[00:54:13] And then like now that the dog is gone and it's no longer an option that he can adopt Dale.
[00:54:18] Maybe he's like looking at Jacqueline in this new light of like, you're so wise.
[00:54:22] You're so beautiful.
[00:54:23] You know, like she really saved the game for him.
[00:54:26] All right, Josh, I got some, uh, we have some great research that gets done on this podcast.
[00:54:33] Okay.
[00:54:33] Um, Danielle that you already referenced.
[00:54:37] Also Josh green.
[00:54:38] They go through everything and tell us about what was going on on the podcast back on the
[00:54:43] week of October 29th, 2014.
[00:54:46] Let's get the highlights.
[00:54:48] All right.
[00:54:49] So let's start with the know-it-alls according to Josh.
[00:54:52] Josh green says that Robin, Steven were very high on Dale's efforts to save himself.
[00:55:01] Steven says he was going to give Dale the fishy.
[00:55:04] He's a fish collector until Dale got voted out.
[00:55:07] Uh-huh.
[00:55:08] Who did he give it to?
[00:55:09] Do we know?
[00:55:10] Um, let me see if that comes up.
[00:55:11] Okay.
[00:55:12] Oh, Missy.
[00:55:12] Missy got the fishy according to Steven.
[00:55:14] Steven was torn between John and Missy, but I shot it down, uh, because John almost fell
[00:55:20] for Dale's idol plan.
[00:55:21] I think you're right.
[00:55:22] I stand by that.
[00:55:23] Right.
[00:55:23] Yeah.
[00:55:24] I stand that.
[00:55:25] All right.
[00:55:26] Then Steven was also very down on that.
[00:55:29] They, they shouldn't have split the vote here.
[00:55:33] Why?
[00:55:33] What did he think they should have done?
[00:55:35] He says that these kids today, he said they, they love their vote splits.
[00:55:39] That's not the kid's fault.
[00:55:40] That's the world's fault.
[00:55:42] The world is changing and these kids have to keep up.
[00:55:45] Uh, when, when Steven was a survivor kid, he didn't have to worry about the same things
[00:55:50] that these kids have to worry about.
[00:55:52] The culture is totally different.
[00:55:54] And even now, now that like Alec Christie is like a survivor grandpa and we're talking about
[00:56:00] all these kids in the new era and the things that they've got to worry about all the various
[00:56:04] pogs and slammers that they're trying to bob and weave their way through.
[00:56:09] I think I, I, I understand sort of like the, uh, that instinct to like, you know, get off
[00:56:15] my porch.
[00:56:16] But I think that, you know, this is, I, I think that this is probably the right way to
[00:56:20] have played it.
[00:56:21] No.
[00:56:21] Uh, yeah.
[00:56:22] I think so.
[00:56:24] Um, it's like for that, for, for us, enormous harm.
[00:56:27] But then you kind of, uh, for them, I don't know.
[00:56:29] Keith, a little bit also, but he doesn't care about stuff like that.
[00:56:33] Um, so both Josh and Danielle highlighted, uh, this is another great running tally of
[00:56:41] Steven making Marty Piambo references in 2014.
[00:56:46] Yeah.
[00:56:47] We're really trying to get, uh, Mr. Farty a second chance.
[00:56:50] Mr.
[00:57:15] Farty.
[00:57:15] Josh green site.
[00:57:17] Steven was really going all in on the muffin thing, including calling Missy's good position
[00:57:22] going into the merge is the rise of muffin and made a bunch of other muffin puns.
[00:57:27] Uh, but last week was when he said muffin first.
[00:57:30] You know, I, I don't think we actually, it might've been episode three.
[00:57:34] It might've been before we really had a lot.
[00:57:37] Who's muffin thing.
[00:57:39] Um, Danielle also cites that, uh, I threw out a, I volunteer as tribute joke about Natalie
[00:57:45] going to XL Island.
[00:57:46] Uh, well this week there were some hunger games, so makes sense.
[00:57:52] Yeah.
[00:57:52] Makes sense.
[00:57:52] Yeah.
[00:57:53] Also, uh, Steven says that food on survivor makes you sick and or hungrier after.
[00:57:59] So Steven is down on winning food on survivor.
[00:58:02] So he's like Jeremy here where it's just like power forward eyes on the prize.
[00:58:07] Don't think about the food.
[00:58:09] Do you think there's wisdom to this?
[00:58:11] Like in your, in your experience, your memory.
[00:58:14] No, get, get, get food.
[00:58:15] This is crazy talk.
[00:58:16] Like was the, like, I don't get gastrointestinal distress.
[00:58:20] Like Steven, when you guys had like the refrigerator of Coca-Cola, was that a, oh, they could have
[00:58:26] put a kebab in, uh, uh, they could have held it for you actually.
[00:58:31] Yeah.
[00:58:31] Yeah.
[00:58:31] Were you happy to like, like when the, why are you so happy?
[00:58:34] Yeah.
[00:58:35] Were you okay?
[00:58:36] When, when, what, when the, I was on the other tribe by then.
[00:58:40] Oh, okay.
[00:58:40] So you were, you were coked out at that.
[00:58:42] Yeah.
[00:58:42] I was coked out of my mind.
[00:58:44] Yeah.
[00:58:44] Um, so Danielle listened to my exit interview with Dale.
[00:58:48] Dale tells us that he has sworn off muffins.
[00:58:53] Uh, out of protest.
[00:58:55] Yes.
[00:58:56] For, for, uh, that's good.
[00:58:58] That's good.
[00:58:59] Dale also said Baylor had issues with him because I think I reminded her of one of her mom's exes.
[00:59:08] Uncouth.
[00:59:11] Not demure, not very mindful.
[00:59:14] No, no, no.
[00:59:16] Okay.
[00:59:16] As mean.
[00:59:17] Do you think that they ever communicate, uh, uh, Dale and, uh, Missy as former castmates?
[00:59:24] I don't think so.
[00:59:24] I don't think so.
[00:59:26] Um, and Rob said he hopes to hear more from the Wentworths in the future.
[00:59:29] Well, wish granted.
[00:59:33] Yeah.
[00:59:33] Yeah.
[00:59:33] Okay.
[00:59:34] Um, yeah.
[00:59:35] And tell me, is this, is this still interesting?
[00:59:37] This stuff from the other, the other.
[00:59:39] Absolutely.
[00:59:40] A hundred percent.
[00:59:41] A million percent.
[00:59:41] This is great.
[00:59:42] All right.
[00:59:42] Uh, Danielle, uh, listened to the interview with Vetus was on the podcast.
[00:59:47] Ah, okay.
[00:59:48] Okay.
[00:59:49] So.
[00:59:49] It was also pregame.
[00:59:54] Yeah.
[00:59:58] Uh, Vetus talked a lot about wanting to be with his son, which was foreshadowing for his,
[01:00:03] uh, season 31 Ponderosa behavior.
[01:00:06] According to Danielle.
[01:00:07] Was that what happened in 31?
[01:00:10] Was he like my kid?
[01:00:11] I don't remember.
[01:00:12] Well, I think he wanted to leave Ponderosa.
[01:00:15] Oh, right.
[01:00:16] Yes.
[01:00:17] Forgot about that.
[01:00:18] Yeah.
[01:00:18] Okay.
[01:00:19] Yep.
[01:00:19] Let's see.
[01:00:20] Uh, then, uh, Vetus wants to be able to be on survivor again before survivor 40.
[01:00:26] According to Danielle.
[01:00:27] Wish granted.
[01:00:30] Oops.
[01:00:32] Okay.
[01:00:33] And, uh, Vetus was commenting on how huge the merge was at 12.
[01:00:37] If only we knew that 13 person merges were going to be normalized.
[01:00:41] No, no, no, no, no, no.
[01:00:43] They're not, uh, merges Rob, right?
[01:00:45] They're, uh, they're like, uh, they're mergatory.
[01:00:49] Oh yeah.
[01:00:51] Um, I'm a wig.
[01:00:52] Those are mergatory.
[01:00:54] Let me, let me tie this also back to, uh, survivor.
[01:00:57] In 2014, Vetus casually throws in.
[01:01:01] According to Josh green.
[01:01:03] Vetus casually throws in.
[01:01:05] He's in touch with Morgan from last season and they exchanged a couple of messages, but
[01:01:09] he wouldn't say anything more than that.
[01:01:11] Wow.
[01:01:13] Fascinating.
[01:01:16] Vetus.
[01:01:19] Vetus.
[01:01:20] Vetus.
[01:01:21] Vetus.
[01:01:22] My, uh, winner pick for survivor second chance.
[01:01:24] If you'll recall.
[01:01:25] Yes.
[01:01:26] Yeah.
[01:01:26] Yeah.
[01:01:27] That played well.
[01:01:28] Okay.
[01:01:28] Um, I talked to Michael snow.
[01:01:31] My worst on voicemails.
[01:01:32] Yeah.
[01:01:33] Second chance.
[01:01:33] We were high on it.
[01:01:34] We were high on him.
[01:01:35] Yeah.
[01:01:35] Um, and then Josh green says in the voicemail show, I read a tweet from Jeff where he was
[01:01:40] adamantly defending, giving who not boom more rice saying something along the lines of how
[01:01:44] they can't just let the players starve with no food.
[01:01:47] Boy, Jeff has changed his tune a lot since 2014.
[01:01:50] Yeah.
[01:01:51] Yeah.
[01:01:51] Uh, but, uh, I mean, I, I guess, yeah, but I think, well, look, I think, uh, the, the,
[01:01:59] like the, the food is more plentiful in Fiji would be my guess.
[01:02:03] Um, whether it's because like, they're like, you know, like, uh, like the, there's like more
[01:02:09] of like the, the fruits, the, the local flora and fauna, or perhaps even imported flora
[01:02:16] and fauna.
[01:02:17] Uh, you just never know.
[01:02:18] I think the opportunities to, uh, eat off the land in Fiji greater than they perhaps
[01:02:26] were in San Juan del Sur.
[01:02:27] A couple other notes from social media also that, uh, Danielle, uh, tracked that, uh, Bryce
[01:02:33] tweeted that Dale can still be a freak all week.
[01:02:36] Yeah.
[01:02:38] This is correct.
[01:02:40] Johnny Fairplay said Missy is 65.
[01:02:42] So I wonder how old he thinks Sue is.
[01:02:44] Uh huh.
[01:02:45] Uh, and then also, um, Stephen Fishback tweeted and quoted Jeff here come the tears.
[01:02:52] It's the alternative title for my autobiography.
[01:02:55] Stephen said, and Michael Snow said he didn't know that Stephen cried, but soon everyone will
[01:03:00] know.
[01:03:00] Yeah.
[01:03:01] Yeah.
[01:03:02] Did he say that?
[01:03:03] Did Michael Snow say?
[01:03:04] No, Danielle said that.
[01:03:05] Danielle said that because it was 2014.
[01:03:07] I thought that Michael Snow was a prophet.
[01:03:08] No.
[01:03:10] There you go.
[01:03:11] Wait, so wait, what was the context of, uh, Stephen retweeting probes there?
[01:03:16] I guess in the episode, uh, that Jeff said, here come the tears at tribal council.
[01:03:21] Stephen said that that's good.
[01:03:22] That's the title for my autobiography.
[01:03:24] Wow.
[01:03:25] I do think sometimes you manifest things.
[01:03:28] Yeah.
[01:03:28] Yeah.
[01:03:29] Okay.
[01:03:29] All right.
[01:03:30] There you go, Josh.
[01:03:31] And we're headed into, uh, the merge, a prop, not mergatory.
[01:03:37] Did we didn't, is there any ways in which there were echoes of episode six of survivor
[01:03:43] San Juan del Sur 10 years later in survivor 47?
[01:03:47] Alec collected meat, uh, and several members of the cast of survivor 47.
[01:03:55] Yes.
[01:03:56] Yep.
[01:03:57] That's really the big one.
[01:03:59] I think.
[01:04:00] Yeah.
[01:04:00] That's it.
[01:04:01] Really?
[01:04:02] Pretty much.
[01:04:03] Hmm.
[01:04:05] Like Rome didn't fake any idols.
[01:04:07] No.
[01:04:08] He faked some tears.
[01:04:09] So maybe there was like a little bit of the, here comes the tears with Rome.
[01:04:14] Yep.
[01:04:15] But not really, not on this one.
[01:04:16] Not too similar.
[01:04:18] Oh, but a lot of like very fun parallels with, with, uh, with the too many cooks of it
[01:04:22] all, I think is very, very funny.
[01:04:24] Uh, and, uh, this was a very nostalgic week though.
[01:04:28] Uh, just like to pull the curtain back a little bit more on the really, really fun event in
[01:04:32] Philadelphia, uh, where we screened.
[01:04:35] I stand Kageean for, uh, a really, really, uh, wonderful house filled with people who are survivor fans and members of this community and the great work that Matt Scott and, uh, Dr. Amanda and Lindsay Wilson all did to make the documentary.
[01:04:49] So many great moments from Kageean that we relived.
[01:04:53] But I think that my favorite moment from, uh, not just necessarily the documentary, but from
[01:04:58] watching the documentary with a packed crowd is speaking of fishback and speaking of tweets.
[01:05:04] Uh, the documentary, uh, the documentary, just like minor spoiler, relitigates some of the Twitter behavior, uh, from survivor Kageean.
[01:05:13] And I think like some of the biggest pops in the theater were like those moments from like RHAP lore 10 years ago.
[01:05:20] Uh, and that's just like, uh, like, uh, uh, the, the S stained glasses of it all.
[01:05:26] Yeah.
[01:05:26] And can I share this?
[01:05:27] This is from all winter survivor, which is a great, uh, Instagram follow.
[01:05:31] They have a lot of clips, uh, that they, they happened to share this clip today, which I wish we would have pulled for the documentary, uh, had we had it.
[01:05:38] So this is from when Parvati used to host, uh, I believe they called it survivor live during survivor Kageean.
[01:05:46] Uh, she has Tony in the studio following the win and, and Parvati asked Tony about, uh, some of his social media antics.
[01:05:54] Put it for me in the end. So they know that I, that wasn't my strategy to, to lie on my dead dad.
[01:05:59] You know, that's not what I went into the game wanting to do. That was spur of the moment.
[01:06:02] It was spontaneous and it was real. It was pure. It was emotion.
[01:06:05] That's kind of like how you react to some of the haters on Twitter.
[01:06:08] Especially Steven Fishback.
[01:06:10] Steven Fishback can really ruffle people's feathers.
[01:06:12] Yeah. You know, so, you know, I cleared the air with him too.
[01:06:15] You did.
[01:06:16] Obviously.
[01:06:17] There you go.
[01:06:19] Uh, uh, Tony with like the, uh, with this, Tony's shirt.
[01:06:24] I don't know why Tony's shirt is so like, uh, grabbing me right now.
[01:06:28] But this is like, Tony's like sort of like talk show attire, right?
[01:06:32] Like if he like went on Fallon or something and he's just got like the button down that he can't close up.
[01:06:40] I don't know. Something about Tony's whole vibe right there.
[01:06:42] You know, it's doing it.
[01:06:43] There you go. It's got a, this is a winner look.
[01:06:46] Yeah. Yeah.
[01:06:47] Okay.
[01:06:47] When did they, was it, was it winter? Was that when they,
[01:06:49] Yeah, he had to, I mean, they wouldn't have interviewed him during the season.
[01:06:52] Was that a game changers thing?
[01:06:54] Um, no. Cause I, Parvati was not doing, uh, this show by game changers.
[01:06:59] Got it. Yeah.
[01:07:00] So I think that's probably after the finale.
[01:07:01] Like I would guess this is like the day after the finale.
[01:07:04] But there was, there was obviously just like the, the documentary that you all need to watch.
[01:07:08] It's about to be available by the time you're listening to this as a podcast.
[01:07:10] It's for sure available.
[01:07:11] Um, that, uh, it's, it's just like, there's so much nostalgia for this period of Survivor from 10 years earlier.
[01:07:19] That is so wonderful to, to, uh, re-examine and re-experience.
[01:07:24] But I, I really loved the ways in which the documentary and the room particularly reacted to some of the ways in which like our podcast, this thing of ours.
[01:07:34] This thing of ours.
[01:07:36] Yeah.
[01:07:36] Uh, that, uh, that Pogs likes to talk about.
[01:07:39] Uh, that, uh, like it, you know, we're intermingled in the lore starting there, you know, like at least starting there.
[01:07:47] Um, it's just a cool thing.
[01:07:49] Yeah.
[01:07:49] It's a cool thing that this is not just like 10 years of Kageon or 10 years of Stan Wandelstor.
[01:07:54] This is at least 10 years of this podcast empire that we all continue to celebrate.
[01:07:58] So very fun.
[01:07:59] Yeah.
[01:07:59] Really, really fun.
[01:08:00] And then also let me just, uh, then my, uh, personal, uh, 20 years greater is that October 28th, 2004 is when I moved to Los Angeles.
[01:08:12] Wow.
[01:08:12] Wow.
[01:08:14] So that's, uh, 20 years ago this week, I was moving to Los Angeles and survivor Vanuatu was airing 10 years later.
[01:08:23] We're watching Dale get voted out.
[01:08:25] And 10 years after that, we went to Philadelphia and talked about this podcast and Rome got voted out.
[01:08:31] Where will we be 10 years from now?
[01:08:34] Today, 10 years from now.
[01:08:37] It'd be great if we pull this clip 10 years from now.
[01:08:40] We'll be getting, we'll be in the midst of survivor 67.
[01:08:44] Really the countdown to survivor 69 will be on.
[01:08:47] I really, I really hate COVID for so many reasons, but this is.
[01:08:52] Yeah.
[01:08:52] We would be right.
[01:08:54] It would be right there.
[01:08:55] So we would be in, we'd be only 10 years away from survivor 69.
[01:09:00] There's no way that they can call it survivor.
[01:09:04] No chance.
[01:09:04] We're not doing numbers at that point.
[01:09:07] There's just no way.
[01:09:08] No chance.
[01:09:10] Josh, the ratings will be huge.
[01:09:13] Yeah.
[01:09:13] Oh my God.
[01:09:14] Survivor Island of the nice, you know, nice quest.
[01:09:20] Yeah.
[01:09:21] Yeah.
[01:09:21] Did I play this clip also?
[01:09:23] All right.
[01:09:23] Natalie Baylor, you will head to exile Island.
[01:09:25] You will return in time for the next immunity challenge.
[01:09:29] Thank you, Natalie.
[01:09:31] Bye.
[01:09:31] Love you, bae.
[01:09:32] Bye.
[01:09:33] Love you, bae.
[01:09:34] Love you, bae.
[01:09:34] The sign off that really for years.
[01:09:36] Love you, bae.
[01:09:38] I had a thought earlier today in listening to the episode of, do people still say bae?
[01:09:49] Mm-hmm.
[01:09:49] Or do people in my and your circles say bae still because of that?
[01:09:56] I think it's because of that.
[01:09:57] Jordan Kalish will often sign off with love you, bae.
[01:10:00] Yeah.
[01:10:00] But like outside of this.
[01:10:02] I'll say it unironically to my wife tonight and see if she even remembers.
[01:10:06] Outside of all of this, like, is that something that people still call each other?
[01:10:11] Hmm.
[01:10:11] Or is this very 2014?
[01:10:13] Yeah.
[01:10:13] Let us know on social media if anybody still says bae.
[01:10:19] Would love to know.
[01:10:20] Love you, bae.
[01:10:21] Well, I love you, bae.
[01:10:23] We got some great hang times in over the last 24-ish hours.
