[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_03]: So funny. Very, very, very funny episode of the show. Really good strategy episode, too.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, in many different ways, even if like the strategy itself is perhaps not so great.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_03]: But I actually think that maybe some of the strategy is really good in this episode.

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_03]: And of course, Natalie is awakening. She is she is coming online.

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_03]: The winner is activating and she like really like shows up in this first.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_03]: She just shows up in a huge way.

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. Natalie's best episode of the season to date. It's not close.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_06]: She is like suddenly the main character of the show where we have chronicled that she is very much, you know, just a background character for the first nine episodes of the show.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_06]: She is not prominently featured through the first nine episodes.

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_03]: We've got everything like we are not lying.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_03]: We are watching all of San Juan del Sur, except sometimes I miss the we're not hating.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_06]: We went back looking for her. She doesn't have that much to do.

[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_03]: It's not much. And like we call it out when we see it.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Like her versus John Rocker is a great moment.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Moment. Yeah.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_03]: But just not there's just not a ton happening with with Natalie.

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_06]: She inherits Jeremy's storyline.

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_06]: It's like Jeremy is like the main character.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_06]: And so Jeremy goes out and then Natalie like takes the baton from him and is going to take it the rest of the way.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Correct. And how it's just there's a lot of really fun Natalie stuff.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_03]: This is Natalie is going to swear vengeance and do what she can to achieve it.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Natalie is going to search high and low for an immunity idol and she's going to find it.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Natalie is going to push herself to the absolute physical limit in order to not win immunity,

[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_03]: but to get pizza, wings, beer, a glass of ice water, cookies.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_03]: She crushes it.

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_03]: She's going to save her mortal nemesis's life in this game so that she may get sweeter, colder revenge another day.

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_03]: A remarkable episode for Natalie Anderson.

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_03]: And when Natalie is talked about as one of like the really good survivor winners,

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I think it absolutely starts here and it's, uh, it's amazing.

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Very, very, very, very, very, very, very fun, but also just an incredible episode for the nails,

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_03]: uh, on like a comedic level.

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Unbelievable, unbelievable stuff.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, so this episode is going to kick off.

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Here in this episode, uh, West nail, uh, you know, made it as far as every, uh, new era winner.

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_03]: How would West nail do in, uh, modern survivor?

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_03]: In the new era?

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, I don't think as well.

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Does he make it to 26 days of the new era?

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't think so.

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, to put West in the new era, it's a little hard to do.

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_06]: And, you know, West is in some ways targeted a little bit more because of his dad.

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_06]: And I think that he was the fan.

[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_06]: His dad ultimately was like the come with guy on this thing.

[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't think that Keith had really seen much survivor.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_06]: I think West was watching a lot of CBS.

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_06]: He was like, West is a big CBS, big CBS, uh, vibes guy.

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_06]: And so he's watching the show.

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_06]: He applies.

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_06]: They're both firefighters.

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_06]: And so he comes in, but he's not a big strategy guy in terms of like how the new era is super strategic.

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_03]: West is a vibes guy.

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_03]: West is all about those vibes and he brings them immaculately.

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_06]: We don't even have a character that is very much like a West nail in the new era.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't feel.

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, um, yeah.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, you have, you have it a lot like a deeper than me though.

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I have like some fresh recall on it or at least allegedly I'm supposed to, um, who would

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_03]: be like West nail in the new era?

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, I would say that maybe the closest is like Jonathan and Jonathan is not very like

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Jonathan's like, well, we just don't have like, okay, here's just the Southern good old

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_06]: boy.

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_06]: Like, uh, we do not really have that character in the new era.

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_06]: I almost would go, uh, uh, like almost erased from the survivor in the forties sort of that

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_03]: vibe, but he is a much harder gamer, uh, and a much better player with respect to West nail.

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_03]: But I think like, as far as like a vibes player for me, I guess I haven't really even had a chance

[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_03]: to talk about him on a podcast.

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Cause I missed all of the forties until now.

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, Cody, a little, a little bit like Cody is a vibe guy.

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess so.

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_06]: But he, yeah, he's a vibes guy, but he's a vibes guy.

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_06]: He's very charismatic and, uh, you know, probably, but, but yeah, I, maybe that's the closest

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Cody is the, is the new era player that I would die to see play again.

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_03]: But my faith.

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_06]: So, all right, let's talk about what happened at the last travel council.

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Jeremy got blindsided, but we really see it from Keith's perspective, uh, first where

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Reed is trying to make a big play here.

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Reed got voted for by Keith and Alec and Wes, but he's like, okay, I'm the, but these are,

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_06]: this is still my idiot army.

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_06]: They didn't, they didn't really explain it.

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Did they?

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_06]: No.

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Who, the, the, the production or, uh, any of the, the show, did the show explain why

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_06]: these nincompoops voted for Reed?

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Cause, uh, Reed went through Keith's bag, I guess.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_06]: And Reed is just like, don't even worry about that.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Of course he has an incredible immunity, uh, performance here, but he also has like the

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_03]: reward swap out and he's just like, he's very funny.

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_03]: The misadventures of Reed, the misreadventures, you know, the miss, the missy adventures of

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Reed.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I'd forgotten that he had done something really nice for her.

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, uh, just a really, really good stuff.

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, he's like, he's trying to tell them like, uh, here's what we're going to

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_03]: do.

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_03]: We're going to stay steady.

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_03]: And I love that there's this confessional with Keith where he's like, Oh, that Reed

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_03]: is really good at this.

[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not so, I'm not so much for the numbers and such, but that Reed he's calculating this

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_03]: all that.

[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, Reed's just got it, got it down.

[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, so even though he got three votes, uh, slammed on him, Reed's feeling all right

[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_03]: here after Jeremy's boot.

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Reed, I think is very strategic, but it's also like very transparent.

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_06]: Like I feel like that when, you know, uh, Reed shows up like at the job interview and

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_06]: he's like, Oh, I brought you guys cookies.

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Like, uh, it's like, Oh, okay.

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_06]: It's like, I just thought you guys might be hungry.

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_06]: That's, you know, no other reason.

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_06]: I just, you know, brought this in for you just to like, uh, you know, I thought that,

[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_06]: you know, you, it seemed like that you, it was just a nice thing for me, from me to

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_06]: you out of the goodness of my heart.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_03]: No ulterior motive whatsoever.

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_03]: It's Reed makes moves, right?

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Like Reed makes moves.

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Kindness is a move, you know, like, uh, not that it wasn't moves for Jeremy and Natalie

[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_03]: either.

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, but I think like where Jeremy and Natalie, they were making moves with people that they

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_03]: had legitimate misplaced trust in ultimately misplaced.

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, Reed's making moves with people like whether they are friends or enemies, uh, allies or

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_03]: opponents.

[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think Reed trusts any of these people.

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, and so like Reed is just making moves with his kindness, with all of this stuff.

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_03]: And like, you could certainly feel it from the viewer perspective.

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, and ultimately they are able to feel it, uh, from the player perspective.

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_06]: And Reed's target is John.

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_06]: He thinks that John is the person to, uh, go after, uh, after this, uh, last tribal council

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_06]: where Jeremy, uh, went out.

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_06]: We finally, you would think that we would depending on like where this season ends up going that

[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_06]: you would think that we would have led with Natalie.

[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_06]: You would think that that would be sort of like the a story that we're following.

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_06]: We see it really everything from like Keith's perspective first.

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_06]: And then we get Natalie talking about Jeremy, the blind side and how she can't believe that

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_06]: they didn't tell her, but that they do offer her a, uh, good gesture.

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_06]: And John says, look, I have to show you.

[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_06]: I have the idol.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay.

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_06]: I wouldn't show you this if I didn't want to work with you.

[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Show it or just tell her.

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, maybe he tells her.

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like, I have it.

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I have it.

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_03]: And Natalie's like, good to know.

[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, so yeah, it's their attempt at trying to smooth it over.

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I had remembered Natalie being a little more upset about, about Jeremy going home.

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, but I, I, I guess like it's a little more stone cold than that.

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, it was another great parallel between this past week of survivor 47, uh, and this

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_03]: week's, uh, San Juan del Sur where we have, uh, in the, the previously on the unaired,

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_03]: uh, the previously unaired teeny vote confession of everything I do for the rest of this game

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_03]: will be to avenge you.

[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_03]: So, uh, so like if past is prologue, I know that like fish back and a bunch of people are

[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_03]: on the, let's put teeny hard.

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_03]: You know?

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, so like, I don't know.

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I see it.

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I see it.

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Cause I just think that the, the parallels between the, these seasons, uh, San Juan del

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Sur and survivor 47, Rob, they rhyme.

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Now Natalie's reaction to what happened to her compared to teeny's reaction to what happened

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_06]: to them.

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_06]: A little bit different where, you know, Natalie doesn't come back to Missy and say, Hey, did

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_06]: you, you know, turn on Jeremy just to humiliate me?

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Sure.

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_03]: No, but the trust is broken.

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, and the trust with Genevieve obviously is broken.

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, and then I think both characters calling them characters for the sake of this, like both

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_03]: of them have, um, these activation moments in these episodes.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, you know, like we get an incredible, incredible, very meaningful story about teeny

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_03]: and their journey with their identity.

[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, but beyond that, what we also get with teeny is like the Phoenix from the ashes moment of

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_03]: my bag been burned.

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm going to look at that as a sign that this is a new era for me.

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, so I, I mean, we haven't really seen like teeny flip the switch on making good on revenge

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_03]: in this episode though.

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Do we really see Natalie flipping the switch on getting revenge?

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Natalie ends up protecting the person that she wants to get vengeance against.

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_03]: So play in a long game could be, could be a long game for, for both of them.

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_03]: But I do think like, uh, that was like a huge moment for me watching the 47 episode, knowing

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_03]: that this was Natalie's like, I swear vengeance episode as well.

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Where it's like, okay, tracking that for sure.

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Tracking that with like whatever this like alchemical thing that's happening, uh, as we're going back

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_03]: in time, 10 years, if anything is happening, gotta watch it.

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_06]: And this is really a lovely segment.

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_06]: It's very, very nice.

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_06]: I was not the biggest John and Jacqueline stands in the real time.

[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_06]: I just was very much in the like, oh, are they even there to play?

[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Do they even know the rules?

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Like what is with these like Macders?

[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_06]: But I have to say 10 years later, you know, they're the same.

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_06]: I thought that this was all like very touching about their journey to like that they want

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_06]: to be parents.

[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_06]: John is so great with the kids.

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_06]: I know that it's not just like, hey, they're going to like break up in a year.

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_06]: And it's like that we're looking at them like John Rocker and his girlfriend.

[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_06]: And they're going to stand the test of time.

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_06]: They're going to.

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_03]: John and Jacqueline are forever, right?

[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_06]: They're going to overcome this adversity.

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_06]: They're going to have a kid like this is this is nice for, you know, future John and Jacqueline

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_06]: or John and Jacqueline's kid to like grow up and see this one day.

[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_03]: An unbelievable moment.

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Just like an incredible human moment caught on camera.

[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think that one of the reasons I love this season is for better and for worse.

[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a very human season.

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes it gets kind of ugly.

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_03]: A lot of the time it gets very foolish.

[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_03]: And then there are moments where like it's it's like surprisingly bright as in like smart.

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_03]: And then there are other moments where it's really bright as in beautiful.

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_03]: And this is absolutely one of them.

[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think it's also great because like there's John is a very multifaceted character on this

[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_03]: season where he's like he's he's like goof troop while also being like sort of like main character

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_03]: mode while also like in terms like somehow like in the catbird seat for the strategy of

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_03]: the season at this point, even if it's like somewhat scared and accidental.

[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And then here it's like, no, here's here's who John is as a person.

[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_03]: And like next week, which you won't be here for like they're going to they're going to go

[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_03]: through.

[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_03]: They're going to go through some shit as well.

[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_03]: John and Jacqueline, we get to watch them fight on TV.

[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_03]: That will be very fun for their kid to see, perhaps, you know, and it's it really is this

[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_03]: wonderful moment.

[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I really I really I really love Jacqueline here.

[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, I just think that there's just like such like there's just like such a depth of humanity

[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_03]: That's on display, like seeing them around kids, knowing that this is a thing that they want,

[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_03]: knowing that they have a difficult journey to get what they want.

[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_03]: And to your point, knowing that they got it in the in the time between the season airing

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_03]: and us talking about it now is terrific, is really, really great.

[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_03]: I just feel bad because it seems like John only gave ice cream to one kid unless he fed

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_03]: the rest of his ice cream to others.

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Because how do you feed one kid ice cream and the others are like, you're not going to

[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_03]: give me any ice cream?

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_06]: I felt I had feelings about John feeding ice cream for the kids.
