[00:01:14] Coming to you live from the main stage at Hapcon, it's the Survivor 51 cast release special. I am Rob Cesternino here in person with... Give it up for Mike Bloom! Rob, much like the many whales that will deck out the set of season 51 we have reached. We're officially in the Survivor preseason and we are, much like the open air, in a very unique environment.

[00:01:40] Yes. Okay, if you're watching us live or if you're watching us at some time after the fact, you will say, Where are they? What are they doing? We're here. We are at Hapcon. And just because there's nobody here yet does not mean that nobody came to Hapcon. The doors haven't opened yet. This is the first thing we are recording and filming here. And so hopefully it's looking and sounding good. We have a lot of stuff coming your way.

[00:02:06] A lot of Big Brother stuff coming your way over these next three days here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, home of the Survivor 51 preseason. Yes. And of course, one of your recent talking with Tee Bird guests, right? Sue Hawk. Sue Hawk. No, she's all over the place. That was a wild interview with Sue Hawk, I can tell you. And so we are streaming live and we're going to talk about something that happened today.

[00:02:33] The Survivor 51 cast dropped in a very different way. It's the open era. Expect the unexpected. We are doing things differently now. A 30 minute ish video dropped on the Survivor YouTube channel. We watched it. Mike Bloom and I watched it together. And we're going to talk about our first reactions and everything we know about Survivor 51 at this hour, which is premiering in just a couple of weeks. I believe it's September 23rd. September 23rd, two hour premiere.

[00:03:03] Two hour premiere. And we now know about how many people are in this cast? 21, maybe. 21. Okay, that's a first. Yeah, it's a really interesting number. I mean, we can talk about the concept of the open era. It's an open era concept. Right. The architectural style of season 51. And the entire idea that has been talked about ever since the trailer through this cast reveal is that essentially the open era means that at any point in time,

[00:03:28] we can use any idol, any twist, any advantage from any previous season. But they're also introducing some new stuff as well. But I think it's this idea of introducing a lot of uncertainty. You know, I think this maybe comes as the culmination of casting so many super fans. You know, the new era certainly maybe not feeling so new by the time 49 comes around in terms of the similar structure from season to season.

[00:03:52] I think what the open era is introducing quite literally from the jump with this historic cast size, we've had 20. Of course, we had 24 last season. 21. Very interesting number is to showcase that. Hey, we can start the season with any number of people. We could have two tribes, three tribes, four tribes, five tribes just to, I think, really throw these people on their toes from the job.

[00:04:15] Well, I think that while it seems a little bit of how are you ever supposed to know what's going on? I think that that's my concern. I'll say that on the plus side, we have complained for quite a bit in the new era. It's very samey same. Yeah. It did feel like during the new era, Jeff talked about survivor like, no, this is what the show is. We figured it out. It's a show about three tribes of six where then there is going to be a pre merge.

[00:04:43] It's going to be very much the same. And then they're going to merge on a certain day. That's what the show is where in the past, in the early days of survivor really through season 40, that survivor was different every single season. So I like the idea of, okay, we're going to try new things. My concern is like, have we gone from, okay, this is exactly what it is to it being too much randomness, but let's see what happens with survivor 51.

[00:05:10] Yeah. I'm really intrigued about the idea of pulling from the past. I think it's a good idea just because you have, listen, not everything worked in the past, but there's a myriad of stuff that has. And so I think it makes sense from a certain perspective to not necessarily reinvent the wheel and bring back some things that maybe we haven't seen in a long time that fans have been talking about. You know, I'm personally wanting to bring back something like one world, something that I know I've been championing, you've been championing for a while.

[00:05:40] Like, is that it? I wouldn't get your hopes up for that. I know. But you know, it's the open era. Anything is truly possible. And so I'm, I'm excited by that prospect to see all these different types of ideas come back and not necessarily feel like the need to innovate those ideas because they work well on their own. I will say as interesting as it is to have 21 people just purely from a newness perspective, I am, you know, looking at the consistent ticking time. We're in the corner of the 26 day period.

[00:06:09] You know, I'm pretty sure they haven't deviated from that again. We saw from survivor 50, 24 players. We will be bringing things back from the past, but not 39 days. Yeah, but we saw, you know, when you had two dozen people, when the merge hit, it was a three person boot, a two person boot, a two person boot. Are we going to go as hot and heavy with that later on? Will that come with additional twists as well?

[00:06:30] I really do think that, that what I've talked about the open era idea, I think it is feeling a little bit more like a squid game where, okay, we have a lot of people. We're going to figure out how do we get rid of them? Just when you think you have it figured out, boom, here's a new twist. Two people are going home tonight. You're voting in duos. You're voting out the person who has the third most votes.

[00:06:53] So I think that it is going to be a way to have more people, but also be able to have a lot more unpredictability in terms of how you get rid of people. I talked about during survivor 50, a lot of twist of the week was how a lot of the back half of survivor 50 went. And I think that we will see that maybe not as much in the pre merge, but I do think we'll have a post merge that is very heavy on twist of the week.

[00:07:19] Is there a twist from a previous season that you would personally like pie in the sky would want to see back from 51? Um, I not off the top of my head. Uh, I think that there were some interesting things. I think in survivor 50, there were some things that worked and some things that didn't work, but also that our barometer for what worked and didn't work like the doubles duos tribal council.

[00:07:41] I think people thought it worked because coach and Chrissy went home, but if that would have been, you know, uh, if, uh, I don't know, Rick and Aubrey or so, or somebody else like, uh, you know, if there were different people who went home in that tribal council, I think people wouldn't have thought it worked as well.

[00:07:59] Yeah. I think that will, it will be really interesting to see what production took from 50 because as a reminder, 51 is an unnumbered season. It filmed while 50 was coming out and I'm sure they were obviously listening to the fan responses behind some of this stuff. But as you mentioned, some of these other twists came towards the tail end of the season. And so I will be intrigued to see what stuff could come back. Will they still be celebrity branded? We're not entirely sure.

[00:08:26] I don't think the celebrities are coming back. I don't think we're going to have Zach Brown. I don't think we're doing that again. You guys are not going to live out there from now on? I'd be surprised because I think that when we got the teaser for survivor 50, it was, Hey, look, it's, Oh, Jimmy Fallon and like Billy Eilish. They couldn't wait to talk about that. We haven't seen any evidence of any sort of celebrities showing up in some hour 51.

[00:08:50] So when it comes to the open era in general, that's about what we know from an actual overall season perspective. And we should have mentioned, you know, what we have right now in terms of content is this cast reveal that happened. There may be more content that will come out over the course of the next month. Jeff will reveal a little bit more of what's coming, but that's what we know at the moment. Well, I think that's worth stopping down on. Okay.

[00:09:11] So that normally in really through, well, let's just talk about from the, in the new era from 41 on, we have had some form of Mike Bloom doing interviews with the cast members, sometimes on zoom, sometimes in a Fiji proper and face to face.

[00:09:33] This is different. No part of the survivor press core after we had probably the most people from the survivor press core for survivor 50, nobody went to Fiji. So no Mike, no Dalton, no anybody you can think of. Nobody went out there. Yes. So not to unfortunately, you know, bring in some, some not so great news, but yes, I do want to officially confirm right now.

[00:09:59] Uh, there are no survivor 51 preseason interviews for any outlets outside of CBS, uh, due to, I think logistics on CBS's and we were not able to do interviews with the cast either in person on set over zoom, et cetera. I did get the chance and several outlets did as well to send in one question to be asked on my behalf. I got those answers back. They'll be broadcast at a later time. I think one question to everybody. You guys write one question for each person. One question to everybody. One question to everybody.

[00:10:28] Wow. What do you think Mike Bloom's one question is? I hope it wasn't. I think what, what can I guess? Oh, sure. Did you guess who is the fictional character? No, I wish I was able to use it on something so frivolous, but it's like a genie thing, right? Like I got to make my one wish. Yes. So it was a multi-part question. So I'll parse it out through not only my articles at parade, but also over the course of our conversation, Rob, but that's just to let everybody know. And I have received so many kind words about these interviews that I've gotten to do 50,

[00:10:57] especially, and I'm knocking on all the wood, especially from Joe Hunter. Yes, exactly. And amongst the many chairs in this room, I'm knocking on all the wood that hopefully we will get the chance to talk with these players again. But right now, what we're going off of is essentially what CBS is providing us any sort of ancillary materials because Rob and I are still going to do past previews, but I'm going to more so get into like my, my I'm in my researcher era to try to scour these people's internet footprints to figure out exactly who they are.

[00:11:24] So in case you didn't see the video, so we got about like 30 minutes of footage about the entire cast of 21 people. We don't have a lot to go off of. It's essentially, remember those little like one minute videos that they would do of like, I'm playing on the beach and here's like a quick few things about me. That's essentially what we got for all 21 people. Right. They did this with Big Brother and the way that Big Brother works is that they don't have a cast until about a week before the season starts. And so the Big Brother cast

[00:11:53] can't come out that early. So the last couple of seasons in Big Brother, we get the Big Brother cast about 48 hours before the show starts. And so you're learning very quickly. Okay. It's Monday. Who's going to be in Big Brother on Thursday? Yep. And I think that that actually, there was a big response for the live viewership for that Big Brother cast video. Yeah, it was huge. And so I think that Survivor is trying to capture that idea.

[00:12:23] I just wonder, I know we're kicking off the Survivor preseason and I don't know, we don't know what CBS is going to roll out in terms of the things that they have produced that made and maybe they have this programmed over these next four weeks. Yeah. But in terms of what came out today, we got about 30 minutes on the cast. The show is premiering in about a month. And we don't know if there's going to be anything else that comes out between now and then.

[00:12:52] So from our perspective, we plan on still doing our usual cast previews. Now it should be noted there are no tribes denoted at this moment. Not particularly sure. I did see, I saw two buff colors at least in that preview. But what we're essentially going to do is since we have a lucky number 21, we're going to do three cast previews over the next three weeks, seven, seven and seven. Several, several and several. Apologies to Jelinski.

[00:13:16] But Mike and I were talking about, are there, is there more information that we can find out about these people? Yeah. So, I mean, listen, there are people certainly of some renown, which we can definitely get into. I'll listen. I will certainly put the plea out there to the larger populace. If you have, if you have information on these people, it feels like America's most wanted. Don't dox them. We don't want that. No, absolutely not. But feel free to send us any info. But who are they?

[00:13:43] Yeah. We want to know. We want to try to, as we do with the preseason, glean as much info as we can that promptly gets thrown out the minute they step foot on the mat. No, I think that's good, Mike. I think that people want to know, like, who, who are these people? Yeah. Well, we got it. We got at least a good sense from the, from their own works in these videos. And so we do have a whopping 21 people to talk to, Rob. All right. Let's do it. 21 people. Let's, let's talk about who they are and what they are.

[00:14:13] And let me check out what the, what is the live chat saying? Oh yeah. I was going to say, is anybody giving any sort of feedback right now? Yes. So let's get into it. All right. We're going to do 21 people phrased off of what we saw and we'll do it in alphabetical order. Yes. Alphabetical order. So by first name, the way they were revealed,

[00:14:39] because we have some nicknames, we have some last name shenanigans. So we're just going to go in the order they were revealed on the survival. They didn't have like a bro-veal term to use for this. No, they didn't have it. It's the survivor 51 cast drop. It was interesting. It started with Jeff walking us through tribal council. And quite literally walking us through a desiccated whale skeleton. Yes. And so Jeff gave us the tour. It's interesting. I feel like that they really said,

[00:15:05] okay, how do we copy the big brother bro-veal? Julie did a house tour, which I guess makes sense. Jeff did a tribal council tour, which I always say tribal council, I guess is cool. It's immersive for the 21 people who are there for survivor. I feel like it doesn't really come through to the viewers, but I guess that this was an opportunity for Jeff to really show you the tribal council set, which has whale bones. Yes. And there will be, uh, I don't even say a live whales, at least a live figures of whales.

[00:15:34] I don't know if you saw the tribal immunity idol is a giant whale, which I think is fun. I thought it was dinosaur bones this whole time. It's whale bones. It's whale bones. Yeah. It's all about, uh, no longer extinct creatures except for that. I liked it. It was dinosaurs. I thought this was like Jurassic Park. Yeah. Well, cause the imagery used in the actual 51 teaser was like an egg being, it was like the end of the end of Godzilla in 1998. Did they retcon it to whales now?

[00:16:00] Or maybe they're just very evolutionarily turned around of like whales lay eggs, right? I guess so. Some people think that the dinosaur or that the whales came out of the ocean and became the dinosaur or vice versa. I don't know. Who knows? Who knows? Homer, where are you? Help us. Our original Christian, help us. Exactly. We have a new Christian now. New Chris. We have new Christian. We have new Devin's. We got new Devin's and Joe baby. Yep. Okay. All right. So let's talk about these people. Okay. She's up on the screen. It's, it's Aaliyah.

[00:16:30] Yes. Let's start with Aaliyah. I'm, I don't know why my brain goes to this very morbid fact, but actually I believe yesterday was the 25 year anniversary of the singer Aaliyah's death. [00:18:54] How many other chefs have we had on Survivor? She had, of course, Jonas Atsuji. Jerry Cooks now. Jerry is now. Boston Rob has a cookbook. I guess that's true. Are we talking about latent life? It's a cookbook. I'm trying to think about who else. I guess that puts Aaliyah by default in the Mount Rushmore of Survivor Chefs. Best Survivor Chefs of all time. So she says she's used to working in the high-stress environment. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Go play Survivor.

[00:19:24] And so her culinary career has taken her all over the place. She talks in her bio. And I'll pull some extras from the bio. We're going to get into much more details about this during the cast preview. But just to give some highlights here, she says, My constant pursuit for change has prepared me to win. From living in a small town in Jersey to then moving to Miami at 13 with little warning. Then moving to Rhode Island for college, not knowing a soul. To solo traveling in different work environments. To places I've never been with people I don't know. And she most identifies Rob with Jam Jam.

[00:19:54] She does cook with Jam, I imagine. Yeah. Okay. Well, she's... I mean... There's some things to like and not like. About Aaliyah so far. Well, listen. If she loves Jam Jam, hopefully she'll work well with Jelly. Not going to be in the same family. Perfect. All right. Let's move on to our next person here. And Survivor 51 is getting a little bit Alexis. Let's talk about Alexis Levine. Alexis is 34 years old.

[00:20:23] Born and raised and currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia. And she is a criminal defense attorney. Though I believe that she's not going to tell people she's a criminal defense. Secret lawyer. Secret lawyer. We love to see. I think she said that she's going to say she's a care coordinator at a treatment center. Just big enough to work, I think. Yeah. Throw enough words in there. People will stop asking questions. So the claim or her accomplishment that she talked about both in the video and her bio is that she is 10 years sober. Yeah. From both drugs and alcohol.

[00:20:53] And she is a COVID binger of Survivor. She said, I think she said she like saw Cook Islands and really got into it. That was it. That was the jump off. Like, oh, I like what they're doing here. I would have thought Aaliyah would have gone in during Cook Islands. Perfect. Chef Islands. Chef Islands. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, she says that she was going to combine the overcoming addiction story of Carolyn and the secret lawyer of Genevieve. I mean, that's a mother combo. Mother combo.

[00:21:22] She is a literal mother, Rob. She has a 14-month daughter at the time she's playing Survivor. Okay. Yeah. So she'll be a social butterfly. All right. Let us move on here. There's a lot of A's going. This is a real A-list cast, Rob. Real A-list cast. Yeah. What was it that in... Sometimes in the seasons we have so many... It was Survivor 49 with so many S names. It was all about the S's. Yes. I mean, S1. Yes. Well, I mean, they had a good chance. Yeah, exactly. So we'll see if the A's wind up at the end here.

[00:21:52] But let's talk about Anna. Anna Sani. She is also 34 years old. Our first of a couple Canadians of the season. Originally from Richmond Hill up in Ontario. Currently lives in Toronto. And she is a voice actress. I would say actress proper. The thing that I know her best for is that she's appeared in about five to six episodes of The Boys. Oh. Yeah. Have you ever watched... There's a scene where, like... I think it's both Black Noir and Homelander are, like, talking to a Vought IT person.

[00:22:21] She offers them a candy bar. That is Anna Sani. Wait. She is in voice only? No. So she was in person. But she's lended her voice to, as she talks about in her bio, over 60, like, animated projects, commercials, audiobooks, video games. Oh. We haven't gotten the chance to talk about that. We have not. This was announced back in June. Announced by Jeff. There will be an animated movie coming out, I guess, maybe 2027.

[00:22:48] I don't think they announced a date where it is an animal version of Survivor. That, like, literally the movie is Animals Play Survivor. Like, I don't think it's going to be animals dealing with Survivor contestants. I have so many questions about... Animals dealing with Survivor contestants. What would that be like? I mean, the snake that bit Jake from 49? Again, his side of the story? Yeah. So that's going to be incredibly interesting.

[00:23:14] I mean, look, there's a, you know, I think there's a certain segment of the population out there that might feel like their movie has finally been seen with their particular crossbreed of interest. But I wonder, like, are we going to get animal versions of Survivor contestants? Animal. I would love that, actually, if we got, like, a lion, an old grizzly lion called Rupert. You know? Like, getting more so. If you had to turn these... If Kim Spradlin could turn these contestants... Listen, bring us into the pitch, me. Like, me and Mike Bloom give you some notes.

[00:23:44] Let us workshop this. Listen, you've got time. I think it's DreamWorks, maybe, that is doing this. Oh. Like, let us sit... No, it's Paramount. Of course, it's Paramount. It's got to be Paramount. So that would make sense. Maybe they'll create... Maybe, like, Big Brother did the Paw Patrol challenge. We'll get a Survivor challenge around this new movie as well. Yeah. It's been a while since we've done, like, the Jack and Jill Gulliver's Travels thing. Sure. So let's talk a little bit more about Anna. Tell me more about Anna. Yes. So Anna says that she identifies with Tony because she feels... Who doesn't? ...chaotic. But also, she shouts out Ricard.

[00:24:13] She feels Ricard is actually very underrated. Wow. So drop the five, keep the one, and add a four to the top of it. That's Anna in a nutshell. Okay. And she also... Rob, I bring you some sad news. She did start with Survivor All-Stars. So maybe not the best impression of you to kick off with. Yeah. Okay. But she's been a bit of a long-time fan. But she also has a little bit of a political background. She got a degree in political science. Yes. Specifically, political theory. So I think...

[00:24:40] I don't know if she's going to be upfront about her acting career. I know the other actor in this cast certainly won't. But if she is, I think she's able to obscure a bit of an affinity towards, you know, love of power dynamics and how to perhaps exploit those things. Okay. All right. Let's go to our next person. Let's talk about Brady. Let's talk about Brady. Let's finally move out of the A's and into the B's here. Entering the ring next.

[00:25:05] It's Brady Booker or perhaps if very loyal WWE fans might most identify him with. I think his name is like... I believe it's like Brody Hayward, I think I want to say. This is very confusing because his name is Brady. Yes. But he goes... His wrestling name is Brody. And he also referred to the Brodies quite a bit. But I'm like, oh, is he going third person? And Mike is like, no, that's what he calls bros. Yeah, so I apologize.

[00:25:35] So his name is Bodie Hayward. Oh, that's even worse! I think he's just trying to create some sort of, what is it? Nominal aphasia, as Tarzan said. So his name is Brady. He talks about the Brodies. And then his name in wrestling is Bodie? Yes, exactly. Bodie McVoteface Hayward. So Bodie was, I believe, in 2021. We'll get into more detail again about this. We'll go all in on Brady's wrestling career. Yeah. Be able to pin that down. But he was able to...

[00:26:04] He was a WWE superstar brought in under NXT. I think his team was called Chase U in 2021. And I'm not entirely sure if he's still a part of that. This is a big guy. Big guy. Big guy who likes to take down big bucks. I think one of his achievements that he talked about a lot in his video, right, was that he shot and killed his first deer and drank the blood. Yes. Ended up from Africa style and got to drive the truck back.

[00:26:33] Yeah, that was a lot. So wildlife, stay away. You shouldn't see this animal movie. No. Yeah. Don't let him be with the animated animals. He hopes that people think he's a big, dumb guy. He has three degrees, though. Yeah. And he graduated pre-law. You know what he actually reminds me of? This is going to be a bit of a deep pull for those who don't watch International Survivor. I'm getting a lot of Jackson from- Also known as Mickey? No. Jackson, also known as Scott Green from the most recent season of Australian Survivor. Ah.

[00:27:02] Because he also had a thing where he's a wrestler. Jackson Fox. Yeah. No, no. Luckily not. Hopefully. We'll see. I don't know what prescriptions Brody will be taking. But the prescriptions he's giving out is pain, brother. He's a FOJ, right? A friend of Jonathan? So I don't know if he's a friend of Jonathan, but he says he identifies most with Jonathan. So we should also mention here, Brady is 27. Originally from LaSalle, Illinois. Currently lives in Knoxville.

[00:27:29] But he says that from our size, ability, and our loyal vibe, I believe we are two peas in a pod, cut from the same cloth, maybe. I hope to model my game after him as the laid-back provider until it's time to strike. There you go. So we'll see. We'll get a little bit more into, again, the depths of his career. But he's, I mean, he'll know how to cut a promo. And so I'm sure they'll go to him a lot for soundbites. Sure. Okay. Mike, there's a theme in season 51. We have a lot of farmers. Yes.

[00:27:59] These green horns are going full green acres. Is this the status of, like, the agrarian lifestyle, Rob, that these prices are so high, they have to go on Survivor to win a million dollars just to make it? You know, it's hard for farmers now. They have to turn to Survivor. I suppose so. So this is the first of three farmers. Carter. One seventh of the cast are farmers. And we've got Carter. Carter. Carter. Carter. Carter. I saw him in a grocery store. And by that, I mean his produce farm. He is 24 years old. Originally from Rock Rapids, Iowa.

[00:28:27] Currently lives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. And indeed, he is a livestock farmer. Okay. Yes. He is a farmer. We've done a lot of farming that goes on on Survivor. It can't really grow anything. But I do think that the history of farmers on Survivor is that you get up, you toil the land, you work hard. I think that does speak to the historical blue-collar work ethic of Survivor. Yeah.

[00:28:55] I mean, infamously, Big Tom, you know, for a while, one of the most successful Survivor players in terms of longevity. Goat farmer. Sure. Rancher Rick. You know, we've got a lot of farm strong mentality going on. But also, Carter's a little bit more. There's, you know, underneath that topsoil, there's a very deep guy, a deeply rooted potato. Because he also does a lot of photography and videography. He has this moving company that he started with all of his friends. He says in his bio, it's called Move, Move, Move. And so he knows how to make big moves. Yeah, he knows how to make big moves.

[00:29:25] Hopefully, he won't start an alliance called the moving company. Nowhere to go but up from there. He does write in his bio, I'm going to be a cross between Rob, not sure which one, Ozzy, Tony, Sam Phelan. Interesting. Dream blunt rotation. Who is it again? Rob? Rob, Ozzy, Tony, Sam Phelan. Tony's a cop, okay? Be careful. No, he's retired. He's cool now. He has to tell you. He has to tell you before.

He's originally from Salt Lake City, currently lives in Salt Lake City. And interesting thing here, Rob. Yes. You thought we were done with the alternates. Not so fast. Oh, alternate Christian. Alternate universe, Christian. Yes. Made its way into our world.

[00:30:50] I can confirm that Christian Chavez was the male alternate for season 47 of Survive. Oh, you've met him. I've met him before. This is someone I've actually done an interview with. Release his old interview. We'll see if I can get through the red tape on that one. But yes, as you know, for 47, Sage on 49 was the female alternate. Christian was the male alternate. All right. So I'm trying to place him now. Okay. With the cast of Survivor 47. Yes. And okay. So he could have been there. He was out there with Asia. Maybe is she here yet? No, I don't know if she's here yet.

He says that he has maybe the loudest laugh in Survivor history. Okay.

He started college at 15 and a half and he got his master's degree at 21 years old. He's a real Doogie Howser. He truly is. Yes. So I'm intrigued to see. Listen, he knows how to speed up a timeline.

[00:32:17] I imagine a 26-day game will be nothing but cake for him. Yeah. Do you think it's going to be an issue for him? And I mean this term lovingly for Dr. Christian Hubicki, but you have another guy named Christian who he's wearing a bow tie. I feel so bad for his laundry. Like he's wearing a wool sweater and a bow tie. Yeah. But so he's all like he's going to already get the, oh, he's too smart comps.

[00:32:46] And then they're like, should he have gone with like a nickname of like, go with his middle name? I mean, do you think that because his name is Christian? His name is Christian. Not all Christians, Rob. Come on. They're such a Christian. But these two Christians. I suppose so. I mean, they do have recency bias to go off of. But I also feel like in the new era, there is a sort of Vizzini from Princess Bride double layers of thinking of like, okay, this guy we know is visually smart. Look at Brady.

[00:33:16] He's probably smart. We just don't know it. And so maybe because he's presenting so smart. Sure. He's like, all right, we, you know, what are you hiding? You're not hiding anything, Christian. Christian also said he's going to be a heartless B word. Yes, he will be, which is incredibly exciting because again, he is such a positive personality. And I don't know if I want the switch to be flipped or it's him doing that like, bless your heart type of Vizziness. He also says he really identifies with Ty a lot, which I think as you experienced from the Co-Wrong rewatch,

[00:33:44] also had his own fair share of like positivity and also heartlessness. Okay. Okay. Let's talk about another person who is a big fan of Survivor. Let's talk about Kilby. So let's get into this. I think the name that a lot of people online brought up the most. Does anyone hear no Kilby? Not yet. Not yet. Not yet. Not yet.

[00:34:08] You're going to find out about him very soon because this is the new star of Survivor 51 because Daniel Kilby, Mr. Kilby of Gunaski, he is 30 years old, originally from Mount Forest, Ontario. Clearly lives in London, Ontario. He is a game designer. I'll be intrigued to see if he actually has that as his career. He's so game oriented that I imagine not because would you want to play with someone who knows how to design and like break games? I think that's almost everybody in the new era, right? Yeah.

[00:34:36] But now literally from an occupational perspective. Yeah. But he's not like a, like people don't bring him into like, can you break this game for us, Kilby? I mean, he might land a role in Survivor production after this. If he breaks a twist, they'll be like, oh, well, we would be happy. Can we Kilby proof this thing? So Kilby, a lot of people know him online because he is, I think he calls himself what? The biggest Survivor dork the show has ever cast. Not even close, Kilby. You know what? We'll check with Asia about the thoughts on Christian.

[00:35:03] Let's check with Brandon Donlan about whether or not he feels like Kilby is the biggest Survivor dork. Brandon Donlan might know Kilby. There's no Kilby list, but dig marry Kilby. But I think that Kilby, I know him first when he played on one of these like YouTube versions of Sequester. Okay. Back when that was really popular. Now actual Sequester or, okay. Yeah, like actual like real life Sequester. You made it sound like it was like an off-brand Sequester. But I know he's done a lot of these ORGs.

[00:35:31] Now, listen, it's not always going to be a high retention rate, but I feel like Teeny used to play in those. Right. Well, Carolyn used to play in those. Did well. Obviously, it's not a one for one comparison, but he is incredibly game minded. I believe that some of us RGP podcasters have played games. I'm playing in an LRG this week. You did? [00:35:59] So I'm really intrigued because obviously I think Kilby is this sort of like prototypical new era casting. Right. Super duper fan. Talked about how Survivor is his lifelong dream. He literally met his girlfriend through Survivor. But I think we have also seen the various hit rates when it comes to super duper fans and how they do on Survivor. But regardless, you can tell just like how much this means to him.

[00:36:25] And so I'm incredibly excited to see not only like his excitement for being there, but hopefully his excitement to play as well. Okay. Let's talk about Devin. Not Devin's. No. Go away, Devin's. We're talking about Devin Way. Yeah. We'll talk about Devin's in a couple of hours. So Devin Way, 33 years old, originally from Lufkin, Texas, and currently lives in LA because he is an actor as well, Rob.

[00:36:51] Probably his most well-known for a recurring role on Grey's Anatomy. Oh. Yes. He played Dr. Blake Sims. I think we'll have to bring it up. Where's Chappellee? I was going to say, we need a Grey's consultant as well to find it. I think it was a recurring role he played in like 2019, 2020. He also was one of the leads in the Peacock reboot of Queer as Folk. Okay. As well. So he's got some screen roles to him, you know, but he's not going to say he's an actor. Not going to say he's an actor until somebody IDs him as a Grey's fan.

[00:37:21] But what they might ID him more for, Rob, is his DNA because he claims that he is the love child of Rick Devins and Joe Hunter. Okay. Interesting. A real big rivalry type of dynamic. Eric Maxoud is 34 years old, originally from Lincoln, Rhode Island, currently lives in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. He is a mental health counselor. Okay.

[00:38:48] And we've seen these types of roles do well in the past. You know, Tory therapist Carolyn was also a counselor as well. So what he said in his bio was, when I saw Dominic Abate on Ghost Island, it felt like I was looking into a mirror and seeing where I'll be in a few years. Okay. Yeah. Um, he seems like he's fun. He talked about his relationship with his dad. Yes. He also, uh, he, so he talks about being this like Italian American and he has lovingly

[00:39:15] one of the most Italian American names for his fiance ever. What is it? Gina DeVito. Gina DeVito. Is that her real name? I don't think it's a stage name. Are you talking about? Well, you said he has a name for her. No, he said like his, her name is, he's like, shout out to Gina DeVito. Shout out Gina DeVito. Uh, he also talks about in his bio how he's trained in Muay Thai kickboxing. He used to be a competitive swimmer. So he is like this secret athlete. Yeah. It seems. All right. Good for Eric. Yeah.

Well, listen, I don't want to reopen any rejection wounds for Eric, but I don't know if I'm feeling his rebrand of the season, Survivor 50 fun. I admire the effort. I admire the effort. Uh, she's now in Bloomington, Indiana. She is a sociology professor, which is incredibly interesting. She says that Survivor was her first exposure to sociological questions and experiments that would later lead to an entire career.

[00:41:09] And so she essentially has a life that's ingrained in the study of people and recurring behaviors. And I, I'm really interested to see essentially a book smarts equal beach smarts. Yeah. So she teaches this class, right? Uh, and we think she teaches about Survivor. Oh yeah. We have to check in. I don't know if she's gone full Max Dawson at this point, maybe like Sarah Dawson. Uh, but I, uh, that'd be interesting. Cause I mean, Survivor, I'm sure suppressor hasn't been like an actual sociological, the sociology of Survivor.

[00:41:38] We've had the psychology of Survivor, but obviously it is the study of people in yes, very remote environments, pressurized situations, but we all see inherent behaviors come out. And I imagine they're so fascinating to discuss in general. Uh, Jellia says that the player she thinks she'll play most like is Shan. Oh. Quote for better or for worse. Okay. So maybe she'll link up with, uh, with, I think it was Anna who said that she loves Ricardo or Alexis. Yeah. What is this? Survivor 51. And we're bringing back all of the Survivor 41. If your favorite person was in Survivor 41, you get to be on this season.

[00:42:08] Listen, just as for Survivor 41. Okay. They got bombarded with a bunch of different twists. There was a, it was a strong cast. That was the open era. Exactly. So I, I feel like Jelly is going to, you know, she's going to spread her wings and hopefully make a meal out of this game. What about Jenna? All right. Let's get to Jenna. New Survivor Jenna. A new Survivor. It's been a while since we've had a Jenna. Not since I'm going to say Jenna from Ghost Island. Oh, I totally forgot about her. How dare you? Yeah. Seabass never would. So Jenna.

[00:42:38] Not my Jenna. So Jenna, she says her family's nickname for her is Nenergy. Why? I don't know why they didn't go with Jennergy. I'm so sorry for the Door family, but I have several complaints about that naming. Are you sure it's not a typo? I mean, I'm reading what's on the page unless she misspelled her own nickname here. What is it? Nenergy? Nenergy? Nenergy. Regardless, I think she's going to be excitable. I mean, it makes Survivor 50 fun look like it's working.

[00:43:06] I mean, listen, people have been talking about, you know, the sustainability nowadays. This is a full green season because we're running all on Nenergy. Nenergy. So Jenna is a super duper fan. She says that she was the kid begging her parents to let her stay up to watch the finale past her bedtime where she literally negotiated by making up her own immunity challenge, saying if I could do a handstand for a minute, you can let me watch the Survivor finale. Yeah, I guess it works. Those are long nights. I mean, listen. You miss your bedtime by a lot.

[00:43:34] I mean, she lasted about as long in an endurance challenge as a certain other Survivor contestants. But she, this is like a huge dream for her. She's a wedding photographer and she has written something called the Survivor Clause into every contract she has where she's like, listen, I'll do your gig. I'll take pictures on the best day of your life. But if I ever get that call to be on Survivor, I am so sorry. You're going unfotographed. But I just want to imagine being on the other side of that conversation where you're planning your wedding.

[00:44:05] You want everything to go perfect. And then your photographer is like, oh, and by the way, I have in my contract that if I get picked to go on Survivor, I'm leaving. I'm not doing the wedding. So, okay, well, are you going on Survivor? I don't know. I might be one day. It's like, all right, maybe this isn't the right fit. I want more. I need more certainty. I need more of these contracts in. Like, hey, listen, I could do this podcast.

[00:44:33] But just so you know, like if I win the lottery, I'm not going to do it. Right. Just so you're aware off the top. But talk about manifestation here, Rob. She wrote in her bio, back before I ever heard anything from Survivor, I wrote this little poem inspired by my dream to play. It says, I can't wait for you to look back at all these times you believed in and all these times you believed in it, believe it was visible. But then I had an idea. What if I could give this poem to anyone who wants them?

[00:48:23] What happens on the patron calls stays on the patron calls. I would say that if I was going to put it in a broad topic category, she was very interested in Survivor Geography. Okay. She might be able to geocache the shit out of this. Maybe she could geocache. But she's from Ketchum. Got to geocache them all.

[00:48:52] So she talks about growing up in the mountains of Idaho. And she talks about navigating the world as a queer woman in the 90s. And how she had to turn her traumas into a career as she puts it. And I think that's given her a really great sense of identity. A really good sense of self. She says her friends and family describe her as an agitator, but also lovely. Okay. I mean, maybe does she make the crisis too? Does she make her own work essentially? I hope not. I hope not.

[00:49:20] I do also want to bring up something briefly here from her bio. Quote, I carry rocks in my bra usually for protection, but it changes based on my mood in any particular meetings I have that day. So many questions for future. I mean, this will really come in handy where like if she comes back, like, I think Kristen's got an idol. Like that bra, there's something in there. When no, she's just an, you know, a fascinating rock collector. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know.

He's no stranger to islands because he's born on one of them, grew up on another one and is playing on a third one. Lewis Kelly. Yeah. It's interesting. We do not have a lot of survivor players historically who have foreign accents. And here is Lewis. He is an Irish farmer. Yes. Uh, so Lewis is 28 years old, originally from Dublin,

[00:50:45] hoping to see green and not just from the Emerald Isle in a survivor win. He currently lives in Puerto Rico, but he lives. We're on a bus with his wife. And I guess they, they, I don't know if the bus is adjoining to the farm. Like there's no farm. The barn is the bus. It's a barn bus. The barn is the bus. Okay. So he says that when he became a U S citizen, he owed it to himself to apply. Uh,

[00:51:13] and this guy is a little chaos Kremlin. He says he's a lunatic who loves, who craves chaos. He's a lunatic leprechaun of a man. Yeah. Uh, cause he talks about his, the person he identifies the most with Rob is Venus. Oh, I didn't know that. So he is here to, he says, she's just out here trying to represent and handle the chaos as best as she can. He talks about how, I think his family describes him as an, I will not attempt the accent whatsoever. I'm sure you will over the course of the next three months. He says he's chaotic, cheeky, but good crack. Good crack.

[00:51:42] Hopefully we won't see that good crack over the course of the 26 day period. But he admits he likes to push buttons. He likes to get in on the drama. It's a little nerve wracking. You know, you talk about again, like the very hardworking perception of farmers. I don't know if I want a farmer that's pushing my buttons all the time. And I'm not talking about on a tractor. Yeah. I also don't know if I want a farmer who's a lunatic who craves chaos. Yeah. You know what? That's very true. Like if he's planting seeds,

I feel like that's what everyone was saying about her cast photo. It's so funny because I've been watching big brother with my family and then they had a survivor 51 commercial that came on. [00:53:35] Yes. Dr. Mike. And so I really am so curious to know about how this, it like, it doesn't sound like it was like a family business that got passed down to brother and sister. No, it's not the couple Bianco sex store. It's not necessarily, it's not a clause in the. Yeah. So it seems like, uh, the brother and sister when it went into business in this together. Well, listen, I think that, uh, you know, there's been many searches around. Hopefully they're not step brother and step sister.

[00:56:01] we're really tapped in, in this community, but like when I talk to people who are sort of more casual viewers of the show, they do say a lot about how, but they don't really have to survive. They don't have to do anything. I want to know more about the survival. It does seem like that they have tried this season to add more of these types of people. Now there's nothing for them to hunt other than go fishing. So open era, they might be like, here's some pigs, here's some goats,

[00:56:29] but it does feel like the one thing that it feels like that the show wants to push back on. And I know they love Riz God, his idea of like, we don't even just like, we just sleep on the floor and we don't have to do anything. We don't learn how to make fire. It was like that, that mistake in the survivor 50 finale was because Jeff couldn't wait. Which one where Jeff announced that Rizzo lost? Yes. Yes. That one where Jeff couldn't wait to say, uh, but Rizzo, I couldn't help but notice you said that he didn't have to learn survival.

[00:56:59] And maybe if you would have made the fire. So I really think that they want to maybe change that narrative that people don't care about the survival elements. That's a really good point. Cause I also wonder if having these old school players out there, like I do wonder how much it kind of reignited something within the producers heads as well of like, look at these people who played decades ago and like what drove them dead, that excitement, that why maybe we should throw these elements back out there. Cause yeah, it should be noted as we're, you know, two thirds of the way through this cast. I mean, I would not say that.

[00:57:29] I think some of the labels that I would say are maybe misattributed to the new era in general, we're not getting a lot of that this season. You know, I don't think like it's an incredibly white collar coded. I think we're dealing with more of a diverse array of occupations than we certainly have been in the past five years. They're worlds apart. Hopefully not. No. But yeah, Maggie is someone who tells her, I think her quote is, I don't really register fear. Okay. And she's a mom of three and she talks about that as well.

[00:57:58] So I think we've also got a lot of parents on here too, which is also something that could serve as a bonding point. It's always an interesting talking point as well, right? About working with someone that could be a parental figure, working with someone that could be the same age as your child and how that might influence the dynamic as well. So I'm intrigued to see what Maggie is going to bring. I think overall, her overall look on the game is good. All right. Let's talk about Mike, not Mike Bloom, Mike Pinsky and wearing pinstripes perhaps on the Island because he.

[00:58:26] Don't hold that against him that he works for the Yankees. Everybody. Okay. I know he seems like a nice guy. We're in Brewers County right now, but yes, he does work for the Yankees as the assistant director of baseball operation. I feel like not since what David Samson. I think it's a George Costanza. No, exactly. We'll see how many times Mike is caught sleeping under a desk. But Mike, you know, born and raised in New York, 32 years old. He is a huge fan. He said he was doing survivor challenges with his friends when he was eight.

[00:58:56] He said when he was 28, my marriage proposal to my wife, Becky incorporated a probes catchphrase. Which one? God only knows. You got a dig woman. Come on in guys. Come on. Yeah. So the band comes in to play the reception, uh, working. And he says, working for the Yankees. I spend tons of time assessing players from the comfort of a stadium seat or my desk chair. But inside me is a burning desire to be the one playing. I am beyond pumped to hit the beaches of Fiji as a player. Yeah. Okay.

[00:59:26] It's interesting. You know, someone who was able to make a lot of decisions about moving people around. He talks about negotiating trades and deals. It'll be interesting to see if he's able to like broker that with actual other human pieces that exist and hopefully serve as assets that maybe we'll hit it out of the park for him. Maybe. I have several things to talk to Mike about with the state of the current Yankees. Okay. Okay. Several grievances. All right. Let's talk about Ori. Ori John Charles. Ori is 27 years old, born,

[00:59:55] currently lives in Spring Valley, New York, and he is a personal trainer. Yes. So Ori's big story, if you will, is that, uh, he was sort of on his way to trying to become at least professional football player. He, uh, broke an NCAA division one record. I believe he said, uh, like Travis Hunter, GTFO. He was the first player I think to ever score a touchdown on offense and defense in the same game. Uh, and he hopes to be that multifaceted in the game as well, playing offense and defense. Yeah. He is, uh, you know,

[01:00:24] former football player. I feel like that, um, Danny from survivor 41 also was maybe the best of the former football players. And he's a big guy. I believe he was a linebacker. Well, he played offense and defense, but I think it was a linebacker. He's six, three, 230 pounds. Okay. So this might be the biggest guy on the cast, but he also talks in his bio. And I'm very much chunking this story because he writes it so beautifully about how he had, you know, his mother ended up injuring her back.

[01:00:51] And so he had to transfer schools basically like into an entirely different state. He left like every day at the end of every day, every weekend to go help her. So he's a very family oriented person as well. Okay. Uh, we'll see how Ori does. How about let's, let's talk about hat. It's Pat. It's Pat. No, no. Pat is 33. We're not doing that. 33 years old, originally from Tampa, Florida, but currently lives in DC. She is a federal prosecutor. Yes. Uh, it seems like she's a newer, uh,

[01:01:22] person to survivor because she's a lawyer and she's not even going to lie about it. Now what's interesting is that again, it says that she's a federal prosecutor, but I believe she reveals on the video that she is a Jag. What? She is a Navy attorney. Oh, about how her, uh, no, don't worry. I mean, comps, we'll see what happens, but, uh, she can similarly, but she's a comp beast, but basically she talks about how her father was in service. Her husband is currently in service. He's employed like six months out of the year.

[01:01:50] I believe she is or was in the service. So that militaristic lifestyle is like, uh, yeah. Uh, she talks about how basically she wants to play as a combo of Amanda and Rachel. Uh, so we get the Amanda lookalike and we have the Amanda name drop here. She says she played a loyal, resilient game with close allies and Rachel played a scrappy, no holds barred climb to the top. I will say Rob,

[01:02:18] actually a lot of Rachel Lamont references in these bios. Okay. A lot of people, uh, some people shout her out as the best new era winner. Wow. So, uh, we shall see what that's like. What the hell? Come on. Haven't I been through enough this summer? So I'm excited for Pat. It feels like Pat has a really interesting story that we'll have to deep dive into. And we'll see, you know, how much of a trial this season will be for her. Hopefully it'll be ship shape. Okay. All right. Let's talk about the, the,

[01:02:47] the newest survivor Rob since me. I mean, I guess I'm no, there's gotta be more recent. I'm trying to think. I'm trying to think about the Robs versus John. There's Bob, Bob's and Bobby's and Bob's and Bobby's. But no, I don't think there's been a Rob since we were on such a hot streak. ROB. Yeah. But from Marquesas to Thailand to me, like, uh, there were two in Marquesas. Like it was a real, we were real on a Rob hot streak. We were in like a,

[01:03:17] yeah, it was, it was the Rob era. And now we are bringing it back, baby. Open air or bring it back. Everything, including the name Rob. Okay. So here we go. Here's a Rob. Rob Antonson. And maybe we would have ran into Rob at the airport at some point, especially if you're flying out of Cumberland, Rhode Island, because Rob is an airline gate agent. Okay. Well, we love the air, the airport people. Matt from a couple of seasons ago was like a ramp agent. We've had pilots before and passengers. Yeah.

[01:03:45] So Rob is 40 years old. Uh, he says he's a total city boy. He hasn't been, he's not an outdoors type, but he is a reality TV junkie. Wow. I watch real housewives, traders, love Island. MTV is the challenge. If it's reality, I probably watched it. Okay. So maybe that means that they're bringing in things from other shows as well. Rob will be able to be, have the most encyclopedic knowledge of it. I don't think they bring in things from other shows. Just a hunch. Rob describes himself as a lasagna.

[01:04:15] I like the metaphor. Eric's like, Oh man, manja. That's my ally. And Aaliyah is like, no, I'm already, I'm already cooking him in that oven. Yeah. He has so many layers. And that's what he says. He says that he's, he's really proud of being a dad. You know, he's, he's a father of, I think three. He met his wife on a cruise. So he is a family man, but I'm intrigued to see, especially with his love for like some of this cutthroat catty reality TV, if he'd rather do it or just watch it. Okay. He has the gift of gab.

[01:04:44] I'm excited for it. Okay. All right. Two more people. We have Sharonda. Sharonda. She is 34 years old, originally from Pompano beach, Florida currently lives in Richmond, Kentucky. She is a resident OBGYN. Okay. So she talks about how she wanted to come onto the show to represent. Oh, when Jeff's talks about getting birthed into the game, that he's finally got somebody to talk to. I've got my forceps. I'm ready. So she talks about how she,

[01:05:12] she wants to encourage those little black boys and girls, those in low economic areas and my family and friends, what we can do despite our disadvantaged beginnings. She also wants to, she basically to also talk about the fact that she's a very giving person. She moved to Haiti for a brief portion of time to help people. She partially became a doctor to help people. Now she's doing it for Sharonda. She's doing it for Sharonda. Excited to see what that means.

[01:05:39] Cause that's led to some really intriguing storylines in the past of like taking this experience for yourself, but also contrasting against naturally wanting to help people in a game where you kind of have to hurt him in the end. Right. She's doing it for her and she's going to see who she is. Yeah. So very, very excited for Sharonda. Okay. And then last but not least is Tanan. Tanan. Yeah. Tanan. Yeah. Tanan. Tanan Wen. She is 24 years old, originally from and currently lives in Fort Worth, Texas.

[01:06:08] And she is a medical student. Okay. Okay. So she says she's coming in a five feet strong. And she's going to be lurking it cognitively until it's time to strike. I am intrigued. I don't think she said she's going to lie about being a medical student, but I wonder if that's something that she has to lie about being a medical student. I mean, maybe it's like, she knows a lot. Yeah. A lot in that head of hers. It's like, if you're a doctor, I think you say you're a medical student. I'm intrigued by medical student. I don't get the lie and say like, I'm a, you know,

[01:06:39] well, I don't know what you, next lie is down. Yeah. I mean, theoretically she might not even become a doctor. I'm just a student. We saw that Brady ended up, you know, not on the path to become a lawyer. So she's a student of life. Perhaps. She talks about in her bio about how she did the boy Scouts as a kid. Yes. The boy Scouts that taught her how to do stuff in the outdoors and basic survival skills. So is that where she picked up that farts are funny? I think hanging out with a lot of boys will probably do that to you. Yeah.

[01:07:08] And I think Rob, that's it. On the surface. Those are our 21 people. Okay. Let me see. Let me go back to the, let me go back to the chat. Okay. Are they still here? Okay. Wow. I will reveal it during our podcast as well, just so it can be incorporated into the analysis. I might do some other stuff as well. I might try to get some alumni's opinions about this cast or what they want to see from the open era. But like, I don't know. I'm excited about it. You're piecing it together. We're piecing it. We have the puzzle in front of us.

[01:09:04] Lord knows we've seen enough survivor puzzles at our time that we're going to try to do them. But I'll admit, like, I feel like this cast has really good energy. I don't know. I really enjoy. They seem fun. We'll see. We're just so far away from the season. So it's really hard to really wrap our, we're so in the big brother weeds right now. It's hard to think about survivor in a month from now, but this is who's going to be on it. We have an open mind about the open era. And so I'm excited to find out a little bit more about these people before September 23rd, two hour premiere, when we'll see whatever their beach side arrival is going to compose. Yeah.
