[00:01:08] Hey everybody, what's going on Rob Sesternino?
[00:01:12] Back to kick off another season of Survivor here on our HAP.
[00:01:17] It's Survivor Cast Release Day.
[00:01:20] And we are off and running in the shortest sprint of a Survivor Preseason.
[00:01:27] We've ever had and here with us to talk about it.
[00:01:31] I call them many things.
[00:01:34] But I've lately have been calling him Mr. Preseason.
[00:01:37] Here he is.
[00:01:38] Give it up for Mike.
[00:01:42] Just added on to the list of names, Rob.
[00:01:44] As well as the list of names.
[00:01:45] Mr. Offseason.
[00:01:47] Now he's Mr. Preseason.
[00:01:48] I mean, for those that have been following the Offseason Survivor coverage,
[00:01:52] it feels like we've never left.
[00:01:54] But here today after spending the past few months talking about every other survivor
[00:01:58] contestant in the past, it's time we talk about the present and a little bit of the future.
[00:02:02] Much like the present, Rob, what a gift we get in the form of the 18 new contestants
[00:02:07] of Survivor 40 several.
[00:02:08] Yep. Here we go.
[00:02:10] Very excited.
[00:02:11] People are pumped up.
[00:02:14] Survivor is just two weeks away.
[00:02:15] If you can believe it and we have so many things to be excited for here in Survivor 47.
[00:02:21] So today we kick off our Preseason coverage with all of the headlines at this hour.
[00:02:28] I believe Mike several headlines.
[00:02:30] The several things we know.
[00:02:32] Yeah, this is like a little past each back to the days of a human Josh Wiggler doing these
[00:02:36] cast release days.
[00:02:37] I have compiled the several things you need to know about both the season of Survivor 47
[00:02:43] and it's cast.
[00:02:44] We're going to go a little bit into the 18 new castaways today because Rob,
[00:02:48] there is plenty where that came from.
[00:02:51] We are still going to be doing our entire Preseason routine.
[00:02:54] I got the chance to talk with all 18 castaways before they went out to play the greatest game
[00:02:59] on earth.
[00:03:00] And that's all going to be rolling out over the next week and a half.
[00:03:04] So today it's a nice little appetite for arousing for those that have been a sleep survivor
[00:03:09] wise since the end of Survivor 46.
[00:03:12] As we start to, you know, get the heart rate up and ready to go on September 18 when
[00:03:17] Survivor 47 premieres with a two hour episode.
[00:03:20] So we've got a lot that we are going to be coming your way with here in these next two
[00:03:26] weeks.
[00:03:27] So we back, we are so back.
[00:03:29] So make sure that you are ready to go.
[00:03:33] All you need to do is go to Robasweb.com slash subscribe or click that subscribe button
[00:03:39] here on YouTube.
[00:03:42] That's how you get all the podcasts completely free.
[00:03:46] No strings attached.
[00:03:47] Okay. And no beware advantages.
[00:03:50] You don't have to melt a candle to get to the ear but listen to the podcast.
[00:03:53] You don't have to take a machete and measure the lanes to get the code to unlock your podcast all
[00:03:59] for free.
[00:04:00] And so if I had to say, people are just jumping in for the first time, Robasweb.
[00:04:03] Who knows there might be a certain contestant fan base that is coming into the Survivor
[00:04:08] fan base for the first time.
[00:04:09] They should know you have plenty of podcasts.
[00:04:12] Yes. And they will get delivered to you many times a week.
[00:04:20] That's my money back guarantee to you.
[00:04:22] Okay.
[00:04:23] Now, if they're not paying anything, does the money back guarantee work?
[00:04:29] Yes.
[00:04:31] Okay. There we go.
[00:04:32] Fire token back to Robasweb.com slash subscribe.
[00:04:36] That's all you have to do.
[00:04:37] I'm not asking for any ratings or reviews this season.
[00:04:40] Just hit that subscribe button.
[00:04:42] Alright, Mike, let's get into everything that we need to talk about at this hour.
[00:04:49] So where should we start?
[00:04:52] So let's shout out there where you live on a Wednesday afternoon and chat.
[00:05:00] Say hello.
[00:05:01] Come on.
[00:05:01] Make your voice as heard.
[00:05:03] I'd be like if we're doing it concert and we're saying like, you know, make some noise.
[00:05:08] But they're not the proverbially making noise.
[00:05:09] People who are listening to the podcast probably in retrospect.
[00:05:11] You hear the noise?
[00:05:12] The comments.
[00:05:14] Exactly.
[00:05:16] Make it light up like a slot machine.
[00:05:18] So survivor 47.
[00:05:20] I think that thing we should probably start with is what people should expect from us starting
[00:05:25] from now because again, today we're going to do really an overall perspective into the forest
[00:05:30] that is survivor 47.
[00:05:31] But we are looking at the trees from here on out.
[00:05:35] We are going to be pursuing the same schedule for the preseason that we did starting
[00:05:40] with survivor 46 earlier this year.
[00:05:42] For those that may not remember, what is basically going to happen is that every day starting
[00:05:48] tomorrow we're going to be releasing interviews with two survivor 47 contestants.
[00:05:54] Again, I got the chance to talk with these people days before they went out to play survivor.
[00:05:59] They were infigee in Ponderosa sitting on their hands.
[00:06:03] I was one of the first fresh faces that got the chance to talk to and it was a very,
[00:06:07] very great time.
[00:06:08] I really enjoyed this cast overall as we'll get into.
[00:06:11] And so every day, we will present those interviews to you as well as provide some commentary
[00:06:16] from Rob and myself.
[00:06:19] And so that's going to be starting tomorrow and starting tomorrow.
[00:06:22] Nine straight days of survivor previews are coming your way.
[00:06:26] It's it's two a days.
[00:06:27] They do those in the NFL.
[00:06:28] We'll talk about that a little bit as well.
[00:06:31] But nine straight days of survivor interviews coming your way with full preview
[00:06:37] wraparound discussion from Mike and I starting on Thursday of this week going all the way.
[00:06:44] I think to September 15th 13th.
[00:06:47] So it'll be a what is math, okay?
[00:06:49] Exactly.
[00:06:50] What is math anyway.
[00:06:50] But yeah, so that's what we'll be doing.
[00:06:52] This will now be in both audio form and podcast and video form over on the Rob has a website.
[00:06:58] YouTube channel as well.
[00:07:00] And on the other side of things, I write for you know a little little paper called
[00:07:05] parade dot com and I'll be presenting written versions of those interviews for the sake of variety,
[00:07:12] which is not the paper right for I will exactly.
[00:07:15] I'll be starting with a different tribe just to kind of like work our way from different
[00:07:20] sides than me in the middle and then pass like two ships in the night.
[00:07:24] So if you want to get your your big info dump as early as you can about who all
[00:07:28] these people are, make sure you're tuned into parade dot com.
[00:07:31] I've got a lot of other stuff coming out as well.
[00:07:33] Actually in about 45 minutes, I have a compilation of everyone's hot take.
[00:07:37] I asked everyone in the preseason.
[00:07:38] What is your hottest survivor take your most controversial opinion?
[00:07:42] Put them on one big piece.
[00:07:43] I know that was a big hit over in survivor 46.
[00:07:46] So I did the same thing for 47.
[00:07:48] So lots of things and drips and drabs coming out through the off season as well.
[00:07:51] But yeah, to your point, we are going straight.
[00:07:54] No a lie or style.
[00:07:55] We are sprinting through nine days because yet it's one of the shortest all the way.
[00:07:58] Life season as ever.
[00:07:59] Rob, only two weeks until the premiere.
[00:08:01] Nine days and we will be giving you two castaways a day I say well,
[00:08:08] why don't we go to do them drop them in alphabetical order like,
[00:08:12] Yeah that's a good idea and they will be organized by tried.
[00:08:16] We'll go and into that.
[00:08:17] I will, I will, I will want to start.
[00:08:19] We will go, we'll go red first.
[00:08:21] We'll go red first.
[00:08:22] All right so tomorrow we will have the first two people alphabetically from the red tribe.
[00:08:28] All right, so Mike, all right.
[00:08:30] That's that's thing number one.
[00:08:32] Our preseason schedule plus we'll have also then
[00:08:35] it's a look, the draft, you know,
[00:08:36] everything that you expect here in the RHAP preseason
[00:08:39] here over these next two weeks.
[00:08:41] Yes, thing two, let's talk about the man, Rob
[00:08:45] that has been in our eyes and ears ever since he showed up
[00:08:50] surprisingly so on the preview for Survivor 47,
[00:08:53] which aired at the season 46 finale.
[00:08:55] And if you've been watching any CBS television,
[00:08:57] he has stayed in your retinas because the one
[00:09:00] commercial we keep seeing for Survivor 47 is this man
[00:09:04] telling us that, you know, don't be afraid for him.
[00:09:07] It's going to be a lot worse for him than it is for us.
[00:09:10] Let's talk about in my opinion,
[00:09:12] the most famous face to appear in the new era of Survivor
[00:09:16] podcast legend John Love it is on this season.
[00:09:19] Okay, yeah, this is very exciting.
[00:09:22] John Love it.
[00:09:23] One of the founders of Pod Save America
[00:09:25] is part of this cast, a huge surprise to everybody.
[00:09:32] And somebody who we are very much
[00:09:35] look forward to see play in Survivor 47.
[00:09:38] Yeah, so just as a little bit of a background on the resume
[00:09:41] on John Love it, this is a guy who was a speech writer
[00:09:45] for Barack Obama during his time in the White House,
[00:09:48] but always fashion himself kind of a hybrid screenwriter
[00:09:52] slash speech writer after his time in the White House.
[00:09:54] He stayed close to it, actually co-creating a short lived
[00:09:57] NBC show called 1600 pen.
[00:10:00] Then he started a podcast alongside a couple of other
[00:10:03] former speech writers called what I think keep it at 1600.
[00:10:06] That's right.
[00:10:07] Which then developed into following the 2016 election
[00:10:10] Pod Save America, which is then grown into just this huge
[00:10:14] media empire called Crooked Media.
[00:10:17] He's also the co-host of his own personal podcasts,
[00:10:20] love it or leave it.
[00:10:21] And yeah, listen, suffice to this say,
[00:10:23] I experienced a lot of surprises in these Survivor 47
[00:10:26] and Precies and Interviews.
[00:10:28] And one of them being that John Love it is a freaking survivor
[00:10:31] fan.
[00:10:31] And he reveals his reasoning why in my interview with him,
[00:10:35] which you know, actually he or shortly after this podcast,
[00:10:38] long story short, he was sort of lately coming into the series.
[00:10:41] I didn't say anything about it public facing
[00:10:42] because he knew the second he did a bunch of fans
[00:10:44] would fill in his DMs being like,
[00:10:46] oh, did you get to the part where Eric gave away
[00:10:48] the immunity necklace?
[00:10:49] And he would accidentally be spoiled by some of the things
[00:10:52] he had in senior.
[00:10:53] So he kept it a secret and hopefully he'll continue to do
[00:10:56] so in the game as well.
[00:10:57] Okay, very excited to see John Love it compete.
[00:11:01] I think that he somebody who you probably would not expect
[00:11:06] to be on Survivor if you have been following his podcasting
[00:11:12] over the years that say similar to myself
[00:11:15] does not come across as an outdoorsy type?
[00:11:19] Yes, I believe in the promo right.
[00:11:21] I'll talk about how he tried Boy Scouts for one day
[00:11:24] and then he threw up and had to go home.
[00:11:27] So listen, he just has to add 25 days on to that
[00:11:29] and he won't be eating much.
[00:11:31] So maybe that much throw up on come.
[00:11:33] Yeah, okay.
[00:11:34] So to sort of, there's a lot of news about John Love it
[00:11:39] appearing in this cast.
[00:11:41] We are going to be dropping Mike's interview with John Love it
[00:11:46] as a special video.
[00:11:48] We're gonna drop that right after this podcast here.
[00:11:51] Thank you.
[00:11:52] Then I believe that he is, we will then do our commentary
[00:11:57] on John in the two of days coming up.
[00:12:00] I believe that's gonna be day four.
[00:12:02] Yes, so if you want immediately,
[00:12:04] we're trying to capture the trend of John Love it.
[00:12:06] The news now being official that he's a survivor cast member.
[00:12:09] So my interview with him will be dropping right after this.
[00:12:12] You don't need to necessarily go anywhere
[00:12:14] same bat YouTube channel.
[00:12:17] But then if you want the formal commentary from Rob and I,
[00:12:19] we just have to wait until we get to the second tribe
[00:12:21] I think he's day four or five.
[00:12:23] Okay, Mike, what else is on your list of several things?
[00:12:27] Well, there's not just one podcaster competing on survivor 47 Rob.
[00:12:32] I think it's time.
[00:12:33] We finally talk about the path has been forged for quite some time.
[00:12:36] But now we can make it official.
[00:12:39] This is new ground for RHAP, our own Asia Welch.
[00:12:45] RHAP podcaster is a survivor contestant.
[00:12:49] Yeah, this is really exciting.
[00:12:52] I'm so proud for Asia that she really wanted to do this and have news to me.
[00:13:00] I know I can't.
[00:13:02] Great attitude about why she wanted to do it.
[00:13:07] And so thrilled for her.
[00:13:10] And I see from the chat.
[00:13:13] I see from all of the people.
[00:13:15] The great thing about Asia forget the,
[00:13:18] again, we'll see how Asia is going to be as a survivor.
[00:13:21] I could speak to you about Asia, the podcaster.
[00:13:24] And I think that she's one of the best people around at,
[00:13:30] forget forging a new path, forging a connection with the audience.
[00:13:35] I think that that is really the secret sauce of podcasting.
[00:13:39] And I think that that's a skill that translates in both podcasting
[00:13:43] and in survivor, the ability to create these connections and bonds.
[00:13:49] And that's why I feel like that we've done so many of these cast previews.
[00:13:53] And I don't know what it's like the 28th season of survivor that I've talked about here on RHAP.
[00:13:59] Wow.
[00:13:59] But people are excited for oh, this person looks good or I'm excited to see this returning player come back.
[00:14:06] But this for many of the listeners,
[00:14:08] like I totally get this that it feels like my friend is on the season.
[00:14:14] Even if they've never met Asia at one of the events or anything,
[00:14:19] so people are really excited and so I'm thrilled for them.
[00:14:24] I'm so happy for Asia and this is just a really exciting to see.
[00:14:28] Very, very exciting.
[00:14:30] And I totally agree, you know, I think the great thing about podcasting and having accessibility to so much media nowadays
[00:14:38] is that it does allow you to sort of build a bond, especially when podcasts choose to be open about themselves,
[00:14:45] behind a microphone and Asia through getting to cover so many things under the sun.
[00:14:50] For the past five years as part of our HAP, whether it be survivor, big brother.
[00:14:55] She is one of the big forces behind all the married to first sight coverage.
[00:14:59] You covered love as blind as well.
[00:15:01] And so it's awesome because yeah, to your point,
[00:15:04] even people that are just in the community, I don't necessarily have that personal touch with Asia,
[00:15:09] know her.
[00:15:10] Yeah, certain way.
[00:15:10] And now we get to know her in a very different way.
[00:15:13] And I think that really part of her success as a podcaster is sort of like the community
[00:15:20] that she has helped to build inside of RJP, her and Jason in terms of what their coverage has been of married for sight.
[00:15:28] And her and Mary, I love his blind and they built up Facebook group of people who a lot of them,
[00:15:34] before Asia was on survivor, they don't watch survivor.
[00:15:37] They don't even know what survivor is.
[00:15:39] They're there for those podcasts and I feel like to me that's like the the most successful path that a RHAP podcast could have where
[00:15:48] they don't even know who's who's Rob?
[00:15:50] What is what's who's the are?
[00:15:52] What is this?
[00:15:53] Well, listen, yeah, it feels like every year we get the weight Rob is on survivor.
[00:15:57] And that kind of even more so now with Asia being able to bring in so many new people to survivor.
[00:16:02] Even more so now the fact that she's a contestant on it.
[00:16:05] So I think she's going to do great.
[00:16:07] If anything, I'm worried that people are going to see her as a threat and not see where the flaws are.
[00:16:13] And so it'll be interesting to watch her try to navigate through that potential issue.
[00:16:21] Yeah, listen, I will tease a little bit as we'll go through this cast and in just a smidge here
[00:16:26] that she definitely has a reputation to her as someone who does know the game.
[00:16:31] And she was recognized by at least a couple of people, which could work for her or work against her.
[00:16:38] Like that tone like well, the good news, Rob bringing it to a very light tone is that while maybe on paper you look at people like John and Asia and you're like wow, you know,
[00:16:49] they're there so eloquins, you know, they're able to express themselves communicate with anybody.
[00:16:53] There's such big threats we should take them out for that reason.
[00:16:58] Well, the good news, Rob is that despite the fact of a new era has no themes to it.
[00:17:03] Where did kind of catching just sort of an on purpose theme with the casting?
[00:17:11] A lot of broadcasters this season, Rob, we have an esports commentator.
[00:17:16] We have a beat reporter for the Tennessee Titans.
[00:17:18] We have a radio hose talking the Baltimore Ravens nearly a third of this cast Rob have some sort of experience behind a microphone.
[00:17:26] Hmm, could that have been some sort of like a back door theme that they were trying of media versus social media versus.
[00:17:38] I mean, media as we all know their reputation is just sterling right now.
[00:17:43] So maybe they were looking at it as a good PR opportunity.
[00:17:45] I mean, I did ask Jeff about this.
[00:17:48] I'll talk about this with a couple of other blurbs that we have going on.
[00:17:50] I did get the chance media masters could be media masters.
[00:17:54] I did talk to Jeff about his thoughts on survivor 47 and an interview that should be out closer to the premiere.
[00:18:00] But I did ask about this and he said quote, it was not planned on our part.
[00:18:05] And we do evaluate everything.
[00:18:06] I mean, look for commonalities and things that are different as well.
[00:18:09] But I think it's 50% coincidence and 50%.
[00:18:13] This is what a lot of young people do.
[00:18:15] And so he basically says that part of it is just the fact that look to get on these shows,
[00:18:20] you have to be a very effective communicator.
[00:18:23] You have to be a very invigorating storyteller.
[00:18:26] And in this case, they are storytellers.
[00:18:28] That's what they do.
[00:18:29] And so it just kind of winds up being that a bunch of these people who have that skill set all on the season together.
[00:18:36] Yeah.
[00:18:37] Okay.
[00:18:37] So look, we love to see it.
[00:18:39] Yeah, absolutely.
[00:18:41] And who knows?
[00:18:41] I mean, listen, what actually one cast member is already coming for Jeff's crown here as host of
[00:18:47] survivor.
[00:18:48] Maybe we'll see some other people jockeying to get on the podcast as well for next.
[00:18:51] Can't coming for Jeff's crown to host survivor.
[00:18:54] We'll get to it in a little bit.
[00:18:57] But we should also mention that there is also another interesting undercurrent.
[00:19:01] Only through a few people here, not through nearly several.
[00:19:04] But the fall season is upon us, Rob.
[00:19:07] We are about one day away for kickoff from the NFL season and survivors get into the
[00:19:12] spirit.
[00:19:13] We have a couple people that are linked up with the NFL again, a beat reporter for the
[00:19:17] Tennessee Titans, someone who is a marketing manager for athletes including many NFL
[00:19:23] athletes as well.
[00:19:25] Hell, Rob, even on the survivor Instagram page, they did an entire announcing the lineup
[00:19:30] in the theme of what can peel land pooms back in the day of announcing who the teams
[00:19:38] are during the course of an NFL game.
[00:19:41] Can we show that?
[00:19:42] Sure, if you want to find the link.
[00:19:45] Let's look at that.
[00:19:46] I would like to see that.
[00:19:48] Yeah, it's very fun.
[00:19:49] It's very fun.
[00:19:50] Did anybody go to the Ohio State University?
[00:19:53] I don't think anyone's from Ohio unfortunately this time around.
[00:19:56] Do I know a Saul, one of our castaways really likes Oklahoma football?
[00:20:01] So he might really leaned into the curve there.
[00:20:05] But it's an interesting thing that, again, I think is 100% coincidental but serves as
[00:20:09] sort of this fun connector that actually could serve as some interesting talking points
[00:20:14] should those people ever meet up together in the game.
[00:20:16] Okay, let me see if I can share this to see what this looks like.
[00:20:20] We're going to jump the gun in terms of like we're going to go through everybody one
[00:20:24] in a minute.
[00:20:26] But here we go.
[00:20:27] Here is from the Instagram.
[00:20:56] I'm Sam.
[00:20:57] I'm from Chicago, Illinois.
[00:21:00] Game.
[00:21:01] Baltimore City.
[00:21:02] Oh, he got it.
[00:21:02] I've done a few much likes from when to take me out of here.
[00:21:05] My name is Janna.
[00:21:07] I don't have what he.
[00:21:09] I am Saul.
[00:21:10] I'm from Delsa, Oklahoma and now I live in Western Connecticut.
[00:21:14] I'm from Manhattan, and I'm from Manhattan, New Jersey.
[00:21:18] I'm Sarah and I'm from Delaware.
[00:21:22] I'm from Washington, Oklahoma.
[00:21:25] I would see like there you go, Mike.
[00:21:28] Where's Tony Romo?
[00:21:30] I will if you just hear a horse voice wailing in the background.
[00:21:33] That's probably Tony Romo at this point.
[00:21:35] But I'm intrigued to see what the prompt was for that because it seems like a lot of people
[00:21:40] were just told say who you are and where you're from and then strike like a gift
[00:21:43] worthy pose which I would say about two thirds of them did.
[00:21:47] Game.
[00:21:47] It's the opening credits of Big Brother.
[00:21:49] Exactly.
[00:21:50] Like, you're for most of you, you're standing back to back with your non-existent amazing
[00:21:54] race partner but still very fun and gets a good energy going for the cast.
[00:21:59] Okay, look it's the fall season and the fell on CBS maybe they're going for some
[00:22:03] synergy when they have to do all those promos like in the middle of the game.
[00:22:08] Yes, it's a winner.
[00:22:09] You don't survive her.
[00:22:10] I just want that gift of Sue.
[00:22:12] Just that sound clip.
[00:22:13] Can that be the only one that gets isolated and used in the promos?
[00:22:16] It just like wins the answer, Viver.
[00:22:18] Every single time.
[00:22:20] Why not?
[00:22:21] Why not?
[00:22:23] Mike, what else?
[00:22:24] So we tease a lot of cast stuff, Rob.
[00:22:27] But how about some exclusives previewing the season that's upon us and but a fortnight?
[00:22:31] What do you got, Mike?
[00:22:32] Not the game that that rumble like to comment on.
[00:22:36] So, oh, got a few teases from my interview with the probesmaster general.
[00:22:40] One, this is something certainly that was speculated but Jeff confirmed to me in our interview.
[00:22:46] So, warm up that gable.
[00:22:47] The auction is back for season 47.
[00:22:51] Okay.
[00:22:52] Bring it back.
[00:22:53] So this was something that obviously it was a well for how much money money back guarantee there.
[00:22:58] So obviously something that came back to a lot of acclaim for the first time in 15 seasons in season 45.
[00:23:03] Jeff has said that if just due to resources he wants to save it for sort of a once per cycle type of thing.
[00:23:10] So it looks like survivor 47 is a reap in the rewards quite literally this season.
[00:23:14] Okay.
[00:23:14] All right.
[00:23:15] Auction is back.
[00:23:16] We have to wait a very long time from the previous auction only one year.
[00:23:21] Exactly.
[00:23:22] Let's move into our next item here which we will see the fruits up even if the auction is coming on later in the season.
[00:23:27] This is something we're going to be seeing in the premier Rob because as we know, the new era is always retoiling.
[00:23:33] They're always trying some new things to just spring surprises on these castaways to truly see if they can dance as the floor changes underneath them.
[00:23:43] And listen, we had a big version of sweat versus savvy last season with how everything led to one of the many downfalls of y'all new jolinski smashing the hourglass.
[00:23:55] It seems like for now that might be the finale of sweat versus the sweat finale.
[00:24:01] The sweat finale of it before we even knew it.
[00:24:04] Jolinski broke the hourglass and he broke sweat and savvy he imagined to be fair.
[00:24:10] I think after a bunch of millions of people, including future contestants saw that we don't want to give them any ideas to smash more props as they say let's take away the hourglass right now.
[00:24:19] Okay, so we have a new thing that's replacing sweat and savvy.
[00:24:23] So what Jeff Tee's to me was that instead of sweat versus savvy the premier is going to feature a new quote unquote test in order for tribes to earn camp supplies.
[00:24:34] And what he tells me is quote quote, it's a little bit of Indiana Jones and the pressure's on you to either come back as a hero or come back and have to describe that you failed.
[00:24:45] So just reading between the lines it sounds a little bit like much like we saw in 45 one or two people will probably be sent from the losing tribes to get another chance to compete for their supplies will see if one or both of them or zero of them Jones.
[00:25:00] Yeah, which is interesting right so we shall see we haven't seen really the motif from the art department going on for this season maybe we're going to get a huge archaeological vibe from it people will look at the set and say it belongs in a museum.
[00:25:13] Good be all right so interesting nobody's going to miss sweat and savvy with all due respect nobody is going to be like oh man bring back sweat and savvy.
[00:25:24] Yeah and who knows you know maybe it just needs a little bit of time in the cooler before it gets brought back to warm up but yeah after six seasons listen we're in the mood to maybe change things up for survivor 47 and so that's apparently what we're going to get in the premiere.
[00:25:38] It's still the new era it's just the newer era there we go like that's what it really feels like you know 45 and 46 does kind of feel like a step in the new era where we went to 90 minute episodes I think a lot of people feel that those two seasons are some of the best seasons the new era has had to offer and
[00:25:54] So it'll be really interesting to see something I certainly ask the contestants as well is how much thinking about those two very epic seasons will inform the game play and moving forward and whether 47 will keep them momentum going or if it'll be some of that calls more back to you know the early days of the new era.
[00:26:12] Okay, all right Mike what else?
[00:26:15] I got one more thing for you it's a little bit of a tease but I like to do this in my interviews with Jeff I like to ask what is the theme of this season not quite literally but if you could assign a theme Jeff to survivor 47 what would it be and he told me it was quote ever shifting power.
[00:26:34] Hmm ever shifting power so he basically implied to me that it seems to be a situation where nearly every episode it seemed like those that you did not expect in power were in power all of a sudden and vice versa which is music to all of our years I think it's like all the seasons of the new era.
[00:26:54] I mean to be fair maybe not the case with like survivor 45 final seven 45 yeah.
[00:27:00] Okay, yeah and also lasting I guess number seven and a half as well because this will come into play with the interviews and a lot of people were asking about timing for when survivor 47 failed to this will come into play as I talk with these people just so everyone knows these people talked with me after the anti penultimate episode of season 46 they had seen up through the Tiffany boot.
[00:27:23] But they had not seen the Venus boot and suffice it to say there's a lot of 46 on their minds from obviously the what have you done for me lately with people turning on their number ones and not playing their idols but also looking more at just the landscape in general and using it to inform their own game.
[00:27:43] Great job there Mike let's get into our castaways we got 18 people to talk about.
[00:27:50] All right 18 people and let us start this is going to be the order that we're going to be releasing the interviews as wealth just to make a nice opinion let's start with the love of tribe and fittingly they are our red tribe and we will start just happen stance you know the the the Phoenicians.
[00:28:11] And we're going to start with a young woman by the name of Asia well Asia is 32 years old from Houston Texas is an IT consultant and as we talked about voluminously before and RHA P podcaster.
[00:28:24] Yes, okay we set up Asia pretty well.
[00:28:30] Yeah she's here check out the cast photo okay and we'll get into it's a look coming up in the next couple of weeks but you know how exciting is this.
[00:28:41] Yeah and for those that are waiting for the Asian interview to that point first thing tomorrow you're going to hear from her so very exciting what I talk much more about my reaction both in the moment and earlier when I found out Asia was on the cast but.
[00:28:56] Yeah first blind side of the season for me Rob when it came to seeing this lovely face in front of me over zoom okay all right like then after Asia we've got.
[00:29:06] We're going up north from Texas all the way to Winnipeg Manitoba first manitoba castaway I believe in survivor history this is Genevieve.
[00:29:17] And she's a corporate lawyer though she tells me she will not be telling anybody else that on the island well they just saw survivor 45 that was a big deal.
[00:29:26] Yeah with three lawyers I think people are going to be sniffing out the secret lawyers and so Genevieve is someone who talked about how she grew up in this big Ukrainian family that has allowed her the opportunity to talk with all different types of people.
[00:29:40] And she has some big plans about what she's going to do with the wear advantage is namely having other people find it and maybe to and some stuff to prevent them from accomplishing the tasks to let their idol become fully pay saboteur perhaps saboteur exactly okay.
[00:29:56] Well, it's we got next up kishon Patel kishon is 28 years old from San Francisco and he is an ER doctor okay all right a throwback to was Peter Baggins to see our doctor yeah there we go so the the emergence of I mean if he could play on a return season with John love it that be something right.
[00:30:22] Yeah exactly do I know you from somewhere yeah you look so familiar.
[00:30:26] I think I need to work with you for whatever is an or do I work for you but kishon is somebody who thrives in you know the chaos that comes with the day today of triaging in the are and loves that with survivor as well I think similarly.
[00:30:40] Pryte himself on prioritization and hopes to bring the positives of making order out of disorder onto the island as well okay there's kishon.
[00:30:51] All right let's move next into Rome Cooney Rome is one of these many broadcasters that we have mentioned before Rome is 30 years old from Phoenix and he has an esports commentator okay.
[00:31:04] I'm very exciting to have an esports commentator here that he is the fortnight caller he calls for night he calls rocket league as well.
[00:31:17] Rome is somebody like kids are going to be so excited.
[00:31:21] Yeah I mean listen when Rome does things he commits intensely he goes full tilt.
[00:31:25] Rome watched every single season of survivor in a year by year.
[00:31:30] I mean I did too but.
[00:31:32] I think after a much more extended period of time so Rome talked all about his newfound love of the game and that's all I'm saying and Rob.
[00:31:42] Rome is the guy that's coming for a little bit of Jeff's wig at this point that he is already ready to step into that hosting role if and when Jeff decides to step down.
[00:31:52] So his plan is go on survivor and steal Jeff's job.
[00:31:56] Well a little bit more as well concerning that in his bio when I was.
[00:32:01] You said enough done that.
[00:32:04] Well when asked why would he be the sole survivor he says I will play my idols I will win at least for an individual immunity challenges so.
[00:32:11] Rome is certainly calling his shot we will see if his empire will succeed or if we'll only be thinking about him in a day.
[00:32:17] Okay good job.
[00:32:19] All right last two members of the lava tribe here Solomon Sol.
[00:32:25] Yeah Sol is 43 years old from Norwalk Connecticut one hometown of Mike Bloom and he is a medical vice salesperson who specializes in deep brain stimulation.
[00:32:37] Well that sounds intense.
[00:32:40] Well Sol is working in sales primarily from that perspective. Sol also has a history in poker as well.
[00:32:48] So suffice it to say he's quite literally brainy when it comes to this game.
[00:32:51] Okay, all right hopefully at tribal council they don't call Sol.
[00:32:58] Exactly keep that keep it send it to voicemail hopefully no trips in the pre-merge for sol here though he brings plenty of sol power to light up those torches should the opportunity come.
[00:33:09] Final member of the lava tribe Tini Cherichio TV is 24 years old from Manohawk and New Jersey she is a freelance writer had actually quit her job prior to coming out to a survivor.
[00:33:22] But Tini is someone who really hangs her hat on being a super duper fan of survivor to the point rob where she ended up playing in an LRG survivor.
[00:33:31] I don't know if she is a member of the lava tribe who is a member of the lava tribe.
[00:33:34] But she has a record of that jacket Angelina with really be eye in that from the jump.
[00:33:39] Yes though I don't know how Tini would be on her.
[00:33:42] Yeah, okay very excited to see another big fan out there on survivor.
[00:33:48] Yes very exciting and Tini you know despite being a super duper fan she admits she's not really a numbers person but she makes up for it wholesale when it comes to her social game.
[00:33:58] Yeah okay all right that's the red tribe.
[00:34:02] That is the red tribe we move on to the yellow tribe got time we got to some people to show you here rob starting with.
[00:34:12] I would say if you run in our HP circles as well, definitely number one notable name with a bullet but this guy might come second and he is and he re way to 31 years old from Brooklyn.
[00:34:25] And he is an AI assistant researcher so I hope he's been enjoying a nzly so far in the big brother house but rob fans of our HP might more colloquially know him as baby and it.
[00:34:35] Yeah just one of the nicest guys ever he's been a longtime patron of RHAP for many many years.
[00:34:45] Got in the chance to speak with Andy on our various call in shows so you know I am so proud when I see these people who follow this show that we all love and then get to see their dream come true of being one of the people on the show.
[00:35:05] It never gets held and I just like this is a very exciting season for me to see so many of these people that I know love the show go out there and I hope they all don't hate each other's gots after the show is over.
[00:35:21] And I wish I never wasted my time with this podcast for all these years but I hope that they all have a very nice experience.
[00:35:32] And listen it's the new era I would say five times out of six they're going to have a very nice time so far but yeah Andy huge somebody got to do good right.
[00:35:41] Yeah exactly huge not only survivors super fan but reality TV super fan get a couple of a reality star and international survivor name drops over the course of our interview.
[00:35:51] It's been a long time coming for Andy he made it to casting finals the year before only to not make it on to 45 and now he gets his chance in 47 and he is ready to charm and disarm as he coined to me.
[00:36:03] Yeah, all right he's ready for his look I think.
[00:36:06] Absolutely yeah well no thumbs baby Andy.
[00:36:09] Oh yeah hiding them he knew what he was doing he understood the assignment couldn't find those thumbs with a microscope.
[00:36:15] Let's move on to onika onika Dara onika is 26 from LA as she is a marketing manager about seven years ago rob onika and her family lost everything in the tub's wildfire that struck California and onika use that as an experience to you know let her realize how much deprivation can make or break a person and so for her she is ready to take this game head on.
[00:36:43] Yeah such a heartbreaking story those wildfires are no joke from my time living out in California you know they could just like it happened so fast and is very little warning and so terrible story.
[00:37:01] Yeah but onika has been able to emerge successful from all that and she admits to me rob in the preseason that and her day today she's used to calling the shots and we'll see if she's calling the shots in the dark on the eye.
[00:37:13] Okay all right or is wrong going to do that.
[00:37:15] Yeah we will see it's a shot in the dark from downtown.
[00:37:23] Next up it's a guy we talked about earlier in this podcast it is John love it 42 years old from LA podcast host former Obama speech writer TV writer etc.
[00:37:35] As we mentioned a secret fan of survivor he coins the show really nicely as quote a strange experiment in deprivation and democracy.
[00:37:45] Just you know you get what you pay for here in John love it his bio was already giving so much great stuff he calls himself a gay Larry David and then when asked what's something that we wouldn't know about you from looking at you he says quote astronaut buzz Aldrin almost punched me in the face.
[00:38:00] Okay God sure that's a good story. I look the thing about John is he's going to have a lot of good stories and you know those are worth their waiting goal.
[00:38:11] I do feel like maybe more so though in the old era like I feel like that somebody who could really like spin a yarn and entertain everybody.
[00:38:19] I feel like that skill was more valued in you it's so much downtime in the old era basically in in the new era that we're going to they're going to try to just take all the stuff from 39 days and crammed into 26.
[00:38:34] So there's very few days where you're sitting around with nothing to do so let's see how valuable a you know storyteller like this ends up being for players in the new era it's going to be fascinating.
[00:38:46] And before we have another five hour endurance challenge where John is able to regal them all with stories about hobnobbing with the rich and famous.
[00:38:54] Yeah, all right moving forward next up on the got to tribe Rachel Laman to Rachel is 34 years old from Southfield and Michigan and she is a graphic designer and Rob this is someone who I have a little bit of history with us.
[00:39:10] A year ago one season ago Rachel was out in the islands of Fiji once again she was our female alternate for survivor 46 46 okay.
[00:39:22] So Rachel has a quick turnaround for her she's coming back on the night on the got in for now with it.
[00:39:28] Yeah exactly but she knows now this is her season she is kind of learned from you know this alternate universe of where she could have been to hopefully inform the reality that she is and now though to your point about that Idle Rob she does.
[00:39:40] Tell me that she feels idols and advantages of the new era quote set you up to fail.
[00:39:45] Yeah, that's not right.
[00:39:47] They did that then true.
[00:39:49] No lies detected.
[00:39:52] All right next up here Sam Falen hopefully not failing in this game.
[00:39:57] Sam is 24 years old from Nashville Tennessee and this is a job I have alluded to a couple times on this podcast Sam is a beat reporter for the Tennessee Titans.
[00:40:06] So he has had a pretty a very pre-season in and of itself.
[00:40:11] Yes, maybe reporting on more than a few beats for the Tennessee Titans this year.
[00:40:16] Yes exactly so we shall see if his game will be as delicious as mayonnaise and coffee.
[00:40:25] Okay so what else about Sam Mike?
[00:40:28] So Sam, due to his job a professor himself quote a professional ego stroker that he feels like his day to day existence of basically buttering up to you know maybe some some more.
[00:40:41] We're mailing up exactly thinking highly of themselves athletes coaches etc has made him a natural for this game he's a big fan of survivor and true to his working athletics he also has a very fiery competitive spirit as well.
[00:40:54] Okay looking forward to seeing it.
[00:40:57] All right final member of the gota tribe Sierra right Sierra is 27 years old from Phoenixville Pennsylvania she is a nurse but that comes at the end of a bunch of different jobs that she has worked over her life including she went to school initially for so I'm even heard this before Rob broadcast journalism.
[00:41:16] Some of that some experience there she also competed on American Idol has competed in pageants.
[00:41:22] I believe she won missing Delaware and competed in Miss Teen USA a couple of times so Sierra is somebody that despite being you know less than 30 has worked a bunch of different jobs in her life.
[00:41:34] Okay, all right Mike that's the blue tribe.
[00:41:38] The yellow tribe. Oh i'm sorry. I'm sorry.
[00:41:41] You blew your low their rob they look good in yellow like a minion exactly okay are phenomenal spectacular come to write all right.
[00:41:50] All right. Let's talk about to cool to cool for school.
[00:41:54] Yes exactly even though it's the first day of school for a lot of kids out there this week here we're talking about to cool our last tribe.
[00:42:01] Our blue tribe and we are starting with Caroline Caroline Vidmar Caroline is 27 years old from Chicago at the time that she was playing survivor she just graduated with her MBA and she was on her way back to her job as a strategy consultant.
[00:42:17] Okay strategy consultant that sounds interesting.
[00:42:20] Yeah, I mean it's a job that we'll see how applicable it is to survivor her job is basically advising fortune 500 companies on what to do with there they're marketing their tactics etc.
[00:42:32] She should advise the fortune 501 company like you want to make you want to make the cut don't you hire me.
[00:42:40] You can be the 501.
[00:42:42] You're sitting with your nose pressed up against the glass I can get you in the door with Vidmar you can go Vidfar and what's interesting is that Caroline admits that she and myers the bluntness of contestants in the past like Tory and Emily from season 45 okay.
[00:43:03] So if she is able to channel any of that I think we're in for a good time with Caroline.
[00:43:07] Sure certainly I'm not sure about the approach to the game but can't wait to see it.
[00:43:14] Gabe Ortiz the game is 26 years old from Baltimore he has worked a couple of jobs prior to coming out to a survivor he is a radio show host primarily hosting a talk show about the Baltimore Ravens who.
[00:43:27] Maybe we'll have some interesting things to talk about with Sam with regards to acquired players.
[00:43:31] I know some great guests for you Gabe.
[00:43:33] Yeah exactly and Gabe also was working on a mayoral campaign was hired as the comms director in a political campaign prior to coming out to a survivor of course he is not going to tell anybody this he is going to say that he is a bar back but.
[00:43:48] Rob people might remember gave us the first person we saw in that survivor 47 promo saying that he wanted to make the Mount Rushmore of the new era.
[00:43:58] We got through the whole summer of survivor we didn't do the who's on the new era amount of rush more Mike.
[00:44:03] Well, well there's always next summer suffice to say I did 50 bucks.
[00:44:08] We'll see.
[00:44:09] Gabe if you can make it but he talks up a lot in both his preseason stuff in my interview with him and his bio about how he wants to making name for himself and he also wants to play as quote a reclamation of the survivor that we all fell in love with back in the day or in Rome's case a year ago on that he wants to be a player who pens a love letter to survivor days of your okay well loved ones letter.
[00:44:34] Well, we'll see once he gets an actual one at the sanctuary we're good things happen okay all right who else is on this tribe.
[00:44:42] Kyle Oswald a no do not put on your glasses that is not in Rosenberger.
[00:44:47] This is Kyle Kyle is 30 more years old from Chaboygan Michigan.
[00:44:53] Kyle is a construction worker and a residential contractor okay.
[00:44:58] Kyle seems like that he's going to be the vibes guy.
[00:45:02] Yeah, Kyle he's an absolute sweetheart.
[00:45:04] This is a guy who has been so familiarly focused he is someone who told me that the first time he ever left his wife for a significant portion of time was flying out to LA for casting finals.
[00:45:16] He and his wife traveled around in a van together for six years but Kyle is making this a bit of a business trip.
[00:45:23] He wants to bring money home to secure the future of his wife, his daughter and his soon to be son and he's willing to quote a previous contest and get that money baby at any cost got that van life.
[00:45:36] Yeah, live in that van life.
[00:45:37] I mean, listen we saw Liz bring the RV life into the new era so maybe we can have a great big con boy going on with these two okay.
[00:45:45] Con boys not super fun from what I hear.
[00:45:49] Well, let's move on to somebody who is super fun Rob Sue Smith.
[00:45:53] Sue is 59 years old from a Putnam Valley New York and later in life Sue decides that she is going to have a change and not only career but altitude she decides to become a pilot and now owns an operator own flight school.
[00:46:12] Wow.
[00:46:12] Yeah, so Sue is somebody that can show much like Julian 45 that like you can take life by the horns and and you know guide wherever you want to go in a matter where you might be.
[00:46:23] And she's hoping that the vibes that she's giving off allows her to sort of be presented as did see someone who's there just for a good time I will say we got the freezes and perceptions of you know their fellow castaways and Sue was a big stand out a lot of people love Sue which is what Sue wants to hear Rob because she said to me that she is the female to.
[00:46:42] The female to me Tony Tony with an eye baby.
[00:46:46] Okay, all right I'm here for it.
[00:46:50] Sure.
[00:46:50] Next up Tiana Hallum's.
[00:46:54] Tiana is 27 years old from IEa Hawaii.
[00:46:58] She is the first native Hawaiian survivor contest Rob look at this two and one year between big brother and survivor.
[00:47:04] Okay, we'll see if on Thursday how many active Hawaiians will be on CBS and we'll see what she says.
[00:47:12] And we'll see if she's on a how far she goes when it comes to this game.
[00:47:16] She also mentioned because it was officially said in Tiana's meet the castaway video Tiana was the female alternate for season 45.
[00:47:25] Oh, okay.
[00:47:27] Yeah, so very interesting again looking at that alternate universe especially with a lot of discourse around certain people leaving the game under unconventional means Hawaii was the 50th state story kind of writes itself for attorney appearance.
[00:47:41] There we go exactly should be the 50th star on that cast of stars.
[00:47:46] Tiana is a flight attended and is really hoping that that sort of Aloha laid back spirit quite literally putting the lay over these castaways is the perfect guys for her to be able to play a cut throw game behind the scenes and take home the W.
[00:48:00] Okay, all right so there you go.
[00:48:03] See you on the last but certainly not least.
[00:48:07] Taron also known as TK foster hope a delay down that TKO on the competition TK is 31 years old from upper Marbleau Maryland and he has an athlete marketing manager has this really compelling story where he was on the path to playing football in high school and then his health took a sudden turn for the worse it turns out he was diagnosed with this surprise kidney disease that.
[00:48:32] Nearly took his life.
[00:48:34] Doctors hold him he couldn't play football from there on out so instead he decided to still say within the inner circle if you will and currently now manages brand deals with NFL athletes.
[00:48:45] Okay, all right.
[00:48:46] There go Mike 18 players here competing in survivor 47.
