[00:02:00] My name is Mike Bloom and truly we have entered Phase 2 of Survivor 46.

[00:02:10] But in this Phase 2, we're not collecting Infinity Stones though perhaps we have collected a gem.

[00:02:34] We're going to talk about her boot and everything that happened as hey a tribe not named John who actually went to tribal council and a lot of stuff went down.

[00:02:45] I'm so happy to welcome in this week's panel unfortunately Liana could not join us this week she is having her own sort of preemptive mergeatory and having a bunch of company over.

[00:02:55] So she's making sure her shelter is wide enough to accompany all of those bodies but luckily I brought in twice the number of guests to still make it a motley trio much like Yanu themselves so excited to welcome him in the two co-hosts of the mess magnets podcast to talk about this very messy season.

[00:03:14] The only question I can ask right now is cursimic canis Sasha Joseph what are y'all talking about.

[00:03:20] Okay so your Kenzie so which of us is you I like to quit things I can be cute.

[00:03:32] I know as an actual competitive person I think that would be me where I'd be like let me just lie and see I'm going to quit but actually ruin everything.

[00:03:41] I just I'm imagining Sasha in the traders RHAP version being like this is the hardest road that I've taken I just think back to those times that oh you fumbled happened on the field.

[00:04:03] Well I'm so excited to get both of your thoughts about this because yeah people were looking at this particular week as the best week.

[00:04:10] Definitely since the premier summer saying it's been the best week of the season so far I think there's a lot of questions and perhaps trepidation as to like it's been the Yanu show for basically a month straight for basically what like seven hours or so what's our eight and a half going to provide a lot of people were entertained by a lot that's happening as well as obviously a lot to do a wrap up.

[00:04:32] I'm not too much about to do around the boots.

[00:04:35] Kirsten what have been your thoughts about survival 46 five weeks in OK so I definitely agree that this episode was a lot stronger than some of the last few have been I feel like the vibes have just been very off the first little bit I don't know I was having trouble connecting and I don't know why I just was having a bit of a struggle with it.

[00:04:57] I'm sad boners gone I know that I know that might be a controversial opinion.

[00:05:01] I people are upset he won my heart count me in that million.

[00:05:06] Yeah I think this is a pro bono pot.

[00:05:08] Yeah no period it would not be the B and B if we were not for like the absolute messy over the top contestant like what you want to watch normal people on TV I'm not interested in that I want unhinged personality so I love that I am however very bombed

[00:05:25] I don't going home this week I wanted to see her actually really get to play.

[00:05:31] I feel like she had a lot of those like villainous but fun villain elements that we want so badly and she was just cut down I hate to see it.

[00:05:40] Cut down with the very machete she was brandishing the entire day.

[00:05:44] That was holding the machete was so funny.

[00:05:47] I love that Sasha not only because you know it's called back to like Amy from Micronesia just like suddenly wielding the machete and she talked about how it just so happened that she's having these talks of Ben like while she's about to dig up her idol so like she wasn't purposely carrying around a sharpen in large blade the entire day to get her point home.

[00:06:07] I didn't response like cup it's this hammer to the point where he's sleeping with it on his chest like there's going to be a break in and this is his frying pan to try to take down any home intruders.

[00:06:17] I just thought it was so funny because in gems exit interview right like she specifically says oh I realize I was holding it so I was trying not to you know come off as aggressive whatever maybe what is gem going to do to Ben like stop this there's 20 cameras around Ben like

[00:06:35] just be serious for one second right where this poor lady is just trying to do math in my worst nightmare literally math on the island with not maybe her foot not a hand but a damn machete and then this man is like let me be Thor real quick right because guess what Thor could be a machete I just know it be so for real.

[00:07:03] Yeah do you think we do we need like an on island game called like rock machete hammer where I guess a machete probably beats hammer but rock beats machete but hammer beats rock.

[00:07:15] Yeah and I think it depends how you use it right like rock can hurt you much faster like I just store rock me and all you have to like comment me with the machete but

[00:07:27] rock it should be like flint and then fire. Yeah let's torch yeah let's torch your torch just like listen I guess could Ben have them theoretically instead of holding the hammer could you just like stuck a stick in the fire it's just a wave I get in front of him.

[00:07:47] Why would be just as like sensible as what he did because in what you reverse is anyone going to like if someone was going to go wild with the machete I think it would stop long before they you know used it is so ridiculous.

[00:08:03] What do you mean you're scared. I just couldn't stop like it's so silly and listen I get it like I'm not on the actual island like you're thinking about you're like oh this person has a machete it's a lot but at the end of the day you're like well maybe it wouldn't be a good TV moment and you know I know it's not going to hurt me right like especially in all the reality shows I like to watch with people actually do try to fight each other.

[00:08:31] No one ever connects because there's always security around so it's to me it's not actually happening so he just I want the moment put me on camera and let me let me hold a machete and to be fair Ben is a Florida man so I think he is used to sleeping with like a bulk in hammer on the side of the bed.

[00:08:50] Okay, it's also like think about if you've ever gotten into an argument with someone while you're like cooking dinner and you're just sitting there with the knife in your hand like you don't mean to look scary but like got a knife in your hand.

[00:09:05] Oh, if Gem and Gemma Justin from BB to Ben do you think she got it?

[00:09:10] Yes, only where I listen if CBS will remove you from the game for it in what 2002 they'll certainly remove can you imagine a band before have to be in 2000 to get removed from a game.

[00:09:28] You have to literally hold a knife just someone's throw and say what if I killed you right now.

[00:09:34] Oh my god and there there isn't like camera man and security to like immediately intervene so at least they had time to worry then.

[00:09:44] Yeah, that's a good point Sasha because you talk about you know obviously watching like bad girls club is a good example of like having on site security.

[00:09:51] Yeah, it's your driver have like one guy standing there next to the camera like Justin case.

[00:09:57] They probably just have the camera guys walking around because it's not like like in survivor they're only physically fighting when it's a challenge and they have to like get up from one time they really wish that they had it you know.

[00:10:12] Well there have been already at least five times that they should have had it.

[00:10:18] All you talking about this the worst season a survivor be serious but all I just have to say I feel that I'm a hangry human and if you piss me off I'm even worse so I'm I would personally not try to fight people because I take a lot of energy out of me and like you know food is scarce.

[00:10:39] But if I'm mad enough am I trying to like push you in the fire a little bit of it.

[00:10:44] Oh my god, this is why Sasha hasn't been on survivor because she was.

[00:10:49] I'm not in there so great don't worry if you say this on a survivor application like there's a non zero chance they're like oh okay she has some fight in her.

[00:10:58] Well that's you never know what they count as a pass on the psych evaluation right like.

[00:11:05] You just got to take it they don't you don't have to actually be saying.

[00:11:10] Oh my god I can't well Sasha I know you were certainly mourning the loss of gem over the course of this episode give me your thoughts about this episode overall but do you feel like this was an upswing in the season for you.

[00:11:24] I okay it's filthy survivor casual so for me how did you do on the logo game and listen you know me I literally texted person Mike before this podcast

[00:11:34] and I was like what if we had to rank the survivor.

[00:11:37] I was like I just end the call.

[00:11:41] You can see it you'd be like nope I'm done period okay I mean your first day in the room minutes look at it's nine minutes alright I'm here I'm good all right I'm gone but no I just I personally like person enjoy the people right like that's why I'm here so

[00:11:58] I'm not necessarily like amazing beautiful perfect in strategy wise right but I'd be damned if people drag him because he was the moment for these past season this past

[00:12:15] episode and everyone seems to like enjoy him because again people have to understand you have to appreciate the mess if I was on a try with bond I don't know what's happening okay it's a whole different story I'm no queue so he might be pushed here and there a little bit by me even though

[00:12:34] I was like triple my height it don't matter but I just but as a viewer I just I love silly people on TV like I think that everyone being game pot isn't fun and again I just

[00:12:49] I'm not going to be a fan of the game and he's Indian right like there is a little bit of a bias for me when I just I enjoy them and I don't care he was still an early boot so people need to get over it but either way such a funny guy and it's just been a silly season but can I just say this is nothing to do with like this season but casting in general

[00:13:13] I'm not ready immigrants you know what I mean like I'm tired like the trauma right enough we've heard it and we've heard it again and we've heard it again and their stories deserve to be told don't get me wrong I'm not minimizing any one story but like India isn't just right or South Asian because we've had in the seer we've had Hanu gem 20s yeah the 20 right like I'm just like let's talk about these like I'm not going to be a fan of the game and I'm not going to be a fan of the game

[00:13:58] People applying for Survivors the question. I mean there's a difference between

[00:14:07] like you name it like Liz's but

[00:14:09] yes, like I'm tired of like hearing

[00:14:12] about the immigrants that are

[00:14:13] struggling. Is that I don't I hope

[00:14:15] not to sound catalyst? I just mean

[00:14:17] it's just giving like a one note

[00:14:19] to South Asia. It's almost like

[00:14:22] they're using yeah, immigrants so

[00:14:24] that they can tell a traumatic

[00:14:26] story rather than accepting that

[00:14:28] these people who've immigrated to

[00:14:29] America are human beings in their

[00:14:32] own right, you know, it's

[00:14:33] actually yeah, but anyway I just

[00:14:37] you know, that's my goal one day

[00:14:39] someone somewhere get cast and

[00:14:41] that you are just Liz but like

[00:14:45] again, like I said, I don't

[00:14:47] wait, I don't wait it's only a

[00:14:48] million dollars. I don't need

[00:14:49] that. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. A

[00:14:52] million dollars. That's it. I'm

[00:14:54] not gonna go. Let's just go

[00:14:56] straight until one of my mutual

[00:14:57] funds. It's like people who have

[00:15:00] so much money that they never

[00:15:02] have to pay taxes, you know? That's

[00:15:05] what I'm saying and I bet and

[00:15:07] the what what else they got going

[00:15:08] on in their life. Nothing so

[00:15:10] they probably do want to apply for

[00:15:12] these shows because Indian big

[00:15:14] brother is all celebrities and

[00:15:17] they go on the full time like it

[00:15:18] came on. Big boss is one of the

[00:15:20] most unhinged shows in the entire

[00:15:23] world. Like that's what I'm saying.

[00:15:25] Cast big boss people on fiber. That's

[00:15:27] all I'm saying. I only have one

[00:15:29] memory. I one of my old

[00:15:30] corkers used to every day she would

[00:15:32] explain to me what happened on

[00:15:33] big boss the day before and then I

[00:15:35] would tell her it was going on on

[00:15:36] American big brother. It was like our

[00:15:38] ritual and our love. And there was

[00:15:40] this one guy who literally threw

[00:15:43] a bucket of his own urine on

[00:15:45] another player and that's the only

[00:15:46] thing that like stuck in my

[00:15:48] celebrities. I think people leave

[00:15:52] the house to go to their

[00:15:53] audiences and then come back.

[00:15:56] Is there is big boss Twitter

[00:15:57] like, oh, I miss the days of

[00:15:59] village. Remember when that one guy

[00:16:01] threw his piss on the other

[00:16:02] celebrities? They put him in

[00:16:04] solitary confinement, I think and he

[00:16:06] used that time to

[00:16:07] still look like you know every season

[00:16:09] is unhinged. The iconic Pooja

[00:16:12] what is this behavior is from big

[00:16:14] boss. Oh yes so it's just there's

[00:16:18] always some nonsense going on. So

[00:16:20] that's what I'm saying. Like those

[00:16:21] kinds of people I would also like

[00:16:23] to represent India. That's all I'm

[00:16:25] saying. Yeah that makes total sense.

[00:16:28] Well let's talk about what Befell

[00:16:30] poor gem here and I mean it's

[00:16:33] interesting to have someone go out

[00:16:35] at their first travel council with an

[00:16:37] idol in their pocket. I was trying to

[00:16:39] do some deep digging into survivor

[00:16:41] history. I think it's only been done

[00:16:44] three times at this point. It's like

[00:16:47] gem, Chris Noble and Aubrey from Edge

[00:16:50] of Extinction. And so it's giving

[00:16:52] iconic. Yeah well but I think it's

[00:16:54] interesting though is like all of

[00:16:55] those instances happened in either

[00:16:57] the late premerge or at the merge in

[00:16:59] the form of Chris Noble. So I do

[00:17:01] wonder if there is something to like

[00:17:03] kind of resting on safe from most

[00:17:05] of the premers that by the time you get

[00:17:06] to your first travel council, you're

[00:17:07] like oh it's right there. I'm safe

[00:17:09] enough. I don't need it. Well and it's

[00:17:12] been talked about like to death over

[00:17:14] the seasons that when you don't go

[00:17:17] to tribal council you haven't

[00:17:19] reinforced your trust with anybody

[00:17:21] right? And so I think when you have

[00:17:25] that idol and you feel safe and

[00:17:26] you've never had to trust like test

[00:17:28] your trust with anyone. Maybe in the

[00:17:30] back of your brain, you're like no it's

[00:17:31] fine. Like I'm good because I already

[00:17:33] feel safe because of this idol. When

[00:17:36] it reality it's like just use the idol.

[00:17:38] You've been safe for so long you have

[00:17:40] this idol. You should just use it

[00:17:43] just to be safe. And here's the thing.

[00:17:46] We get 90 minutes. We get a salsa segment.

[00:17:51] Why are we not getting a here's why we

[00:17:53] voted gem out or here is why we don't

[00:17:55] trust gem from Maria who use a damn

[00:17:58] advantage. They were already up three

[00:18:00] two mind you and then oh my god it's

[00:18:03] just like nailing the coffin to get

[00:18:05] her ass again. Yeah already dead.

[00:18:07] Yeah I think Maria has sort of alleged

[00:18:11] on social media that apparently like

[00:18:13] the extra vote put a pretty big target

[00:18:15] on her back like everyone

[00:18:17] including gem herself was like oh yeah

[00:18:19] I want to Maria to use the extra vote

[00:18:20] to flush it. And I understand it but also

[00:18:23] I'll admit a little bit of that is on Maria

[00:18:25] herself because remember in that first

[00:18:27] episode she comes back from the

[00:18:28] journey and it's like here's every

[00:18:30] single thing that happened and now I

[00:18:32] have an extra vote that we can use as

[00:18:33] opposed to like Tevin who pulls the

[00:18:36] bend before the bend goes to his tribe

[00:18:38] and is saying oh yeah I may have an extra

[00:18:40] vote. I might not we don't find out

[00:18:41] until tribal council. And so I think

[00:18:43] because of that it does seem like and this

[00:18:45] is against your point such a kind of

[00:18:47] ring of between the lines that

[00:18:48] everyone was looking at Maria kind of

[00:18:50] sideways for just having an extra

[00:18:52] vote and so she's like sort of like what

[00:18:54] we're advising gem to do a bit which

[00:18:56] is like just get it out of your hands

[00:18:57] as quickly as you can so people don't

[00:18:59] have to worry about it and merge.

[00:19:02] I just came I think it's different

[00:19:04] and here's why because the idol is like

[00:19:08] that keeps you in the game you're good.

[00:19:11] What are they going to vote her out

[00:19:12] because they think she's not going to

[00:19:13] use the extra vote? No nobody was

[00:19:15] going to vote her out.

[00:19:17] Keep that vote. People are so scared of

[00:19:19] you then they want you to flush it.

[00:19:20] Be scared. I've gone next

[00:19:22] revolt. What are you going to do

[00:19:23] about it now that we're down to five?

[00:19:26] That extra vote is gets more powerful

[00:19:29] you know as time goes on.

[00:19:32] Yeah and it's that why right they

[00:19:34] maybe kept Tim around or didn't vote

[00:19:37] for him because they're like he has the

[00:19:39] idol quote unquote which was so

[00:19:41] widely after the challenge when they're

[00:19:42] like oh uh we as Nami will ask for

[00:19:45] volunteers the tips like I'll go

[00:19:48] was this an instance where like he was

[00:19:49] that he called dibs and no one else

[00:19:51] to see it spoke up otherwise like if

[00:19:53] you're any of the women honestly how do

[00:19:55] you let this guy go there because the

[00:19:57] entire reason why Ben gets targeted

[00:19:59] over him and maybe a reason why Charlie

[00:20:01] doesn't side with the women and ends up

[00:20:03] voting out gem alongside Maria is

[00:20:06] because they assumed Tim got something

[00:20:07] from the journey.

[00:20:09] Yeah that's what I'm saying it's just

[00:20:10] even the idea of something kept one

[00:20:13] person safe and then hurt the other

[00:20:15] person that actually had the something

[00:20:18] so listen why aren't we lying more

[00:20:20] what's going on?

[00:20:22] Okay the vibes try and get up stand up

[00:20:27] I will say though this episode had me

[00:20:30] stunned and I see your point very valid

[00:20:33] Sasha that like sometimes the show does

[00:20:35] trade off in audience surprise for like

[00:20:37] actually explaining through the logic of

[00:20:40] what happened and there still is a bit of a

[00:20:42] whole in Maria's logic in particular

[00:20:45] considering that she does say verbatim in

[00:20:47] the episode like oh I have a deeper trust

[00:20:48] with the women than I do with Ben and Tim

[00:20:51] but I thought it was Ben by a mile me too

[00:20:55] before the votes were being read just

[00:20:57] because like we got so much personal

[00:21:00] information from him going back to the

[00:21:02] file photos and the the montage back in

[00:21:05] like episode two or three he's been a big

[00:21:07] folk apart people have already started

[00:21:09] to talk about how big of a threat he

[00:21:10] was from the beginning of the episode

[00:21:12] he even got one of those like oh I'm

[00:21:14] having such a great time on survivor type

[00:21:16] of ominous clothes and so I gotta give credit

[00:21:18] to the show I guess to completely have me

[00:21:21] swindled over the course of an hour

[00:21:23] in 25 minutes.

[00:21:26] Yeah I just I couldn't believe it and

[00:21:28] and that's what I'm not entirely mad because

[00:21:31] listen I love Jim and I was very sad but I

[00:21:34] did have the the moment where you're like

[00:21:36] what do you mean what why huh how

[00:21:39] and you got me and you know what I can't take

[00:21:42] that away from the editors right like

[00:21:45] I understand why you did it I was the like it

[00:21:47] and I hope next week episode gives me a

[00:21:49] detailed breakdown. Yeah. Flashback give us

[00:21:54] some sort of conversation that actually

[00:21:57] really spells it out.

[00:22:00] Something I'm gonna ask about Jim in general is

[00:22:03] you know there is this sort of odd

[00:22:06] paradox where she went out on the first tribal

[00:22:10] council she attended but like the previous

[00:22:12] 11 days she spends she was not certainly

[00:22:15] playing like she was safe from tribal council

[00:22:17] every single time and you talk about like just

[00:22:19] play the damn aisle I can only imagine

[00:22:21] jumping like hey yeah so I found this

[00:22:24] and then I also re-hit it so you all would

[00:22:26] dig a hole to the center of the earth.

[00:22:28] Sorry my bad Kristen how much do you think

[00:22:33] Jim's overplaying is the sole reason why we're

[00:22:36] talking about her today?

[00:22:38] I don't know if we can say it's the sole reason

[00:22:41] because again like we've already said like they

[00:22:43] didn't give us enough context but like yeah she

[00:22:47] shouldn't have done that.

[00:22:49] Like well I remember just like every point of

[00:22:52] that like playing out where she finds that

[00:22:54] she re-hides it and she's giggling like yes

[00:22:57] I love that the evil giggles make them suffer

[00:23:00] beautiful but then when they're digging for days

[00:23:03] and days and days or two days or whatever

[00:23:06] there's all the ants in the ground and

[00:23:09] they're getting bit by ants over it it's like

[00:23:13] I think in the moment when the ants came out it was like

[00:23:17] oh wow this really was this was a big mistake

[00:23:19] they were all getting attacked by insects because of me

[00:23:24] oh my god again I like it because it's not me

[00:23:29] and I get to watch it but boy if I found out

[00:23:32] that Jim's asked did this to me and it's been

[00:23:35] three days that I'm in the hole and

[00:23:39] right all of them are tribal council being like

[00:23:42] was it tribal right where they were like

[00:23:44] we were digging and killed a tree I can't remember

[00:23:47] but Charlie said that but now I'm like was that a

[00:23:49] tribal or beforehand I can't remember

[00:23:51] doesn't matter they were talking about it

[00:23:53] and they're like no no one would have done it right

[00:23:56] we killed a tree yeah best of the

[00:23:58] camp he's like oh that'd be the dickest move

[00:24:00] yeah and whenever they were talking about it to me

[00:24:03] that would be my reaction I mean it can't be right

[00:24:06] because we did X we dug a hole to Russia

[00:24:09] right like how how did they do that yeah like

[00:24:13] I don't know how you continue with the game

[00:24:15] after that like in that case you might need your

[00:24:18] idol for you better hope to go start digging

[00:24:20] again you better start digging back in that hole

[00:24:22] because chances are they might have found

[00:24:23] something in there besides all the poop

[00:24:25] from three seasons ago oh my god

[00:24:27] they probably put another idol in there

[00:24:29] just because like you got to find something quick

[00:24:31] or as soon as you hit meritori the other

[00:24:34] secret members are just gonna swarm everyone

[00:24:36] like the ants that swarm them a few days ago

[00:24:38] being like you will not believe the shit

[00:24:39] that gem pulled on us literally it's too much

[00:24:44] is literally I don't know I like to think

[00:24:47] that I would be that sort of insane person

[00:24:50] but I I just don't think I would have it in

[00:24:53] me to have them digging a damn hole

[00:24:55] I would have to hate them you know yeah

[00:24:57] I think they didn't seem to hate each other

[00:24:59] they didn't really all get along so it's

[00:25:01] why it's so surprising

[00:25:03] but like she'll do that to the people she

[00:25:05] likes imagine if I mean someone she hated on the

[00:25:08] track yeah it's tough because on the one hand

[00:25:10] I do think gem kind of deer have it

[00:25:11] hands in this we're like and she started

[00:25:14] one thing but it just kind of spiraled out

[00:25:16] of control oh my god

[00:25:22] yeah so she wore this really odd wig that made her

[00:25:24] look like she was like 47

[00:25:26] uh yeah but yeah but but then

[00:25:30] she to your point like she's kind of reveling in it

[00:25:32] right and that sort of is the fun stuff

[00:25:34] the evil giggles her being like wow I can't

[00:25:36] believe I'm actually getting away with lying

[00:25:38] this much even though like her and Tim had

[00:25:40] from what we've seen the honest relationship

[00:25:43] out there on the island where like they'll just

[00:25:46] start conversations being like oh this is

[00:25:47] what I know about you

[00:25:49] having a good morning and they're both

[00:25:52] happy hello you know but they're literally both

[00:25:55] blocking each other that's my favorite thing

[00:25:57] and neither of them are wrong that's I think

[00:26:00] I tweeted that but I said it should be gem

[00:26:02] and Tim but it's gem versus Tim

[00:26:05] yeah and I hate that for me because they're so

[00:26:07] funny he's like so why'd you hide that all

[00:26:10] what happened why why'd you do that right and she

[00:26:14] she's like me on among us because she's just like

[00:26:16] murder giggles right she just can't handle

[00:26:18] it she's like yeah I didn't I killed him

[00:26:21] and what so she is really proud of herself right gem

[00:26:26] it's like I didn't laugh usually I giggle

[00:26:29] I felt that in my heart right she's like I put

[00:26:32] on the best performance you know Tim went

[00:26:34] and told everyone not she did it because

[00:26:36] he was giggling and in her mind she didn't do

[00:26:38] it for a fact she did it she couldn't

[00:26:42] keep a straight face it was clear it was

[00:34:56] you know i don't think it's too coincidental that we've had i think four out of the six seasons

[00:35:03] in the new era we've had like one tribe go to travel council at least three times in the pre-emerge

[00:35:08] and most of them went like three times in a row at least just because there's this idea of

[00:35:14] it's a race in a manner speaking and like if you fall behind and also while you keep getting

[00:35:20] depleted and losing out on fire your competitors are still getting rest and getting well fed because

[00:35:26] they have fire so they're performing even better than you possibly could like it makes what yana was

[00:35:31] able to pull off in this episode astounding because they were so beaten down they'd gone the longest

[00:35:36] without flint out of any tribe really in survivor history and so the fact that they were able to

[00:35:42] actually pull this off is incredible but it doesn't really we don't need to get to that

[00:35:48] extent you know i think we want to see people go to travel council in the pre-emerge look what

[00:35:51] we got out of this episode right like the fact that see it got to go to travel council made this

[00:35:57] episode in my opinion and we would we would have been able to get that perhaps a bit earlier in

[00:36:02] the season if they had been able to even do hey bring your torches back to camp and use them to

[00:36:08] light the fire or just give them the flints after their first tribal council you know and then

[00:36:12] then you can take it back after they lose an immunity challenge but just give them that literal

[00:36:18] spark give them the encouragement to know they can do it because they are just completely

[00:36:25] well-begotten up until they win the challenge like they had won that reward challenge which

[00:36:29] also i think just give them the freaking flint then isn't that enough of a reward i wonder if in

[00:36:34] the moment they could have been like we're going to give all this away like no tarp no yeah i

[00:36:39] thought that was gonna happen no no fishing if you give us the flint right here and now i don't think

[00:36:44] Jeff would take the deal because again he's very hard and fast about this rule but might have

[00:36:48] been worth the try well and why are they doing a separate award challenge in the first couple of

[00:36:54] weeks in a three tribe season like i it's way better than just one challenge in the episode they get

[00:37:00] a reward with their immunity and then we can see a little bit more of that camp life to actually

[00:37:04] understand what's going on why why do i have to watch two challenges last week for one reason i

[00:37:09] mean to help yanu get you know a brief glimpse of hope before they get pulled back down by the

[00:37:14] gravity of their own ineptitude bless their heart their own ineptitude i know make from opera but

[00:37:21] this point i also have to say do you think like sitting out the right people also was part of this

[00:37:29] like winning what yanu's win and sega's loss because they had to play maria and gem yeah and

[00:37:36] him and maria it from what the edit seemed like did take the longest to hit her target which kind

[00:37:42] of you know caused us like waterfall down yeah but i wonder if charlie was in even yeah just one

[00:37:48] break because gem hit her target first so charlie was first instead of maria right would that have

[00:37:54] changed anything yeah it's a good question i mean and i guess we got to thank claire from season 44

[00:38:00] for this right that it made jiff jep now institute this rule of no back-to-back sit-out so now as you

[00:38:05] mentioned like maria and gem were forced to play in this one and even though sega got out to a size

[00:38:10] of a lead they maria in particular who unfortunately has kind of had these moments of standing out in

[00:38:16] challenges for not so good reasons they were able to fall behind a bit to allow kuda like just

[00:38:22] sneak out that win that's that's what i also was like noticing that is there some dynamic that's

[00:38:30] a losing tribe you know maybe has like not an advantage but at least you know that these are the

[00:38:35] three people that you know somehow are the strongest left and for yanu it definitely i think is

[00:38:40] these are the three strongest versus i think the other first where they're just like now they

[00:38:46] gotta play their weakest and then hopefully you get that one you know shot to win yeah well

[00:38:53] regardless i'm very happy for them not only again did it give more time for us to see the rest of

[00:39:00] the cast i don't want to say actually play the game because i feel like that's kind of a damning

[00:39:04] term like it's clear from gem's journey that she was certainly doing a lot of stuff before going

[00:39:08] to travel council but like so much of the game is predicated on okay you can only trust someone

[00:39:13] so much until you put pen to parchment and we saw this here where again the narrative that had been

[00:39:18] built up for five episodes was like okay it's the men versus the women and now we got to see through

[00:39:23] this vote like maybe not so much charlie's angels had an early cancellation here are you for

[00:39:31] seeing anything like in particular from the merge maybe especially due to like this sort of a

[00:39:36] brochacho's plus one thing that was made on the journey

[00:39:40] uh i really i mean i hope not because they're like okay let's do the brigade um but with one for

[00:39:49] me to try which i'm not particularly interested in watching go down um but i mean i i think more

[00:39:57] than anything i think he was gonna get thrown under the bus because he goes on that journey and says

[00:44:05] and so i i appreciate q trying to extend this brand but to your point person it's tough when like

[00:44:11] Tim and Hunter have had the you know luxury of getting to sit and just branch out for the entirety

[00:44:20] of basically half the game and so they're like yeah sure i don't know if i necessarily want to do

[00:44:26] this and go to the end with a bunch of people that could win challenges over me but sure we'll entertain

[00:44:31] this yeah i mean who's they know you should never say no to an alliance period but also yeah who am I

[00:44:40] doing it with are they helping me more than i'm helping them right like what what is the back and forth

[00:44:46] look at listen q was training bono on what to do and he's yet an idea and bonnie said yes i want

[00:44:54] to do that he said too fast you agreed to it too fast but now q you got off the boat and you

[00:44:59] immediately proposed an alliance with these two people you don't know that's too fast

[00:45:05] you take your own advice uh you know what i think he's he's one of those uh those that can't do

[00:45:11] teach people right oh blessed i don't know i think i think q is in an okay place i thought you

[00:45:17] know he was well positioned on yanu but things might flip uh i could even see like q and venus

[00:45:24] basically having like the exact same landing spot that they did post merge in the pre-merge where

[00:45:30] venus was someone that would have gone had nami not had this like incredibly

[00:45:36] just like astounding and unassumed from the beginning winning streak that they won every

[00:45:42] single challenge except for one in which they came in second place uh but had they lost any of those

[00:45:48] she was gone now i think yes there might be some like personal grievances to air but i don't think

[00:45:53] people are necessarily looking to her as this giant threat she was someone that was probably the

[00:45:58] safest person on yanu especially as they kept losing like okay this is our anchor in the challenges

[00:46:04] but now he's coming to the situation where now everyone's saying oh you're this anchor

[00:46:07] in the challenges and so i would not be surprised to see you know the outcomes pretty much flip here

[00:46:13] where maybe venus would have been the first booted and q would make the merge you might be one of

[00:46:17] these first post merge boots and we might see venus as our winner oh we'd love to see it oh my god

[00:46:23] for the girlies please and the thing she was it's like like venus contributed to those wins

[00:46:31] she was not dragged along like in that immunity challenge in this episode she was whipping in and out

[00:46:37] of that structure getting those bags like so fast i was and she hit their target pretty quickly

[00:46:43] almost immediately it seemed like that's the thing is that i have so much adoration for nami as a group

[00:46:49] of personalities but i'll admit when i first saw those half dozen individuals i'm like

[00:46:55] yeah i think this is our disaster tribe uh i think it's just like a fun mixture of personalities but

[00:47:00] like outside of hunter i don't know if i'm necessarily seeing like the requisite strength that we

[00:47:04] see in these premier challenges but they became the most dominant tribe in new era history which is

[00:47:12] wild to me and i agree it's not just hunter even though he has been amazing at a lot of stuff like

[00:47:18] you know it's the whole sum of its parts it's through all the stuff that all these people were

[00:47:22] participating were doing you know we should get credit to tevon and venus as well even in in

[00:47:26] that challenge uh you know i think even the challenges that soda and liais participated in

[00:47:31] they were not slouches whatsoever and so nami was just this incredible well-eiled machine

[00:47:38] more also simultaneously being this gaggle of really fun personalities which i feel like we still

[00:47:42] rarely get on the show they're so well rounded right like i feel like they all have strengths

[00:47:48] that can fill in each other's kind of deficiencies yeah that make them work so well and honestly

[00:47:55] sometimes rage can fuel you to perform well so if you're mad like these are mad people are not

[00:48:02] you know seeing her as a person worthy of respect okay well i'll show you um worthy of respect

[00:48:09] yeah i flabbergasted because again in a million years i wouldn't pick this group right without

[00:48:18] a tribe swap nothing just this group to be the the most dominant tribe like it was giving

[00:50:07] cruises through the prejury phase on social relationships and sega's immunity dominance this

[00:50:12] gives her free time to search for an idol and she finds one hooray however to unlock the idol she

[00:50:18] needs to convince her tri mates to give up their shoelaces she enlists maria to help her bringing

[00:50:25] her preseason promise to not telling you one about her idol when gem got the idol marina turns on gem

[00:50:31] at the merge ratting out her shoelace idol to kensy so her ally and her enemy were both maria

[00:50:40] okay it's only on a has screeners is what you're telling me a little bit yes ever she get a

[00:50:45] Nike ad in the middle of it you know what i mean she had to she can't totally give away that

[00:50:52] she knew what was good man if someone came back from the journey and was like i had to give up my

[00:50:56] shoelaces would you believe them and honestly yeah i believe anything like this show does dumb stuff

[00:52:43] her position on the tribe translates to a great position strategically tim and her immediately

[00:52:48] get on as two of the sega leaders and maria brings her in on a deal among the women uh but no matter

[00:52:54] what she does gems plans or delayed when sega never goes to tribal council in the pre-merge

[00:52:59] a la jessie's checklist plan okay i think i remember that we'll get a scene of gem's secrets of sales

[00:53:06] where she runs down tips and tricks for how to sell something as she applies said advise to throwing

[00:53:10] someone else under the bus true to her love of toney gem works hard to find an idol early on

[00:53:16] and she also wins an extra advantage on the journey unfortunately she keeps to her pre-game word

[00:53:22] of not telling anyone about what she has as a result yanu and nami joined together at the merge

[00:53:28] to take down the sega block with gem being seen as the biggest threat because she's not given a tip

[00:53:34] her name is even on the chopping block she walks out with plenty of accessories in her pocket

[00:53:39] miss that her closest ally was tim and her enemy was nami and yanu

[00:53:46] okay so i've combined you guys have a lot of things right that's what i'm saying i

[00:53:55] but here's the thing i've been on the bmb a couple of times

[01:24:37] stacks up with what they're about to experience over the course of survivor 46 i'm really excited

[01:24:49] of fun with this premer perhaps more than some fans out there as someone who likes characters who
