[00:03:29] But before we get to this week's recap,

[00:03:32] I just can't thank the Purple Pants Posse for always supporting your baby boy.

[00:03:39] I have been on a 10-city tour, the Bryce and Wendt Tour 47.

[00:03:44] And throughout these 10 cities, I have met so many amazing supporters, friends,

[00:03:50] the Posse members that just show up for your baby boy.

[00:03:54] They love me and Jack going back and forth.

[00:03:57] They love Jack and James Jones arguing.

[00:04:00] They love the friendship between Wendt Z.

[00:04:02] They just love Survivor News.

[00:04:04] And I just wanted to take this time to say thank you so much.

[00:04:07] It really warms my heart.

[00:04:10] I can't say thank you enough because it truly means so much just to have met so many of the Posse members.

[00:04:16] And I just appreciate y'all for listening, supporting and showing so much love.

[00:04:22] Without further ado, y'all hear the tears because I don't want to say it, but I gots to say it.

[00:04:29] Without further ado, let's get into the final Survivor News of season 47.

[00:04:45] Survivor News.

[00:04:57] Survivor News.

[00:05:04] What's going on? What's going on? What's going on? What's going on? What's going on?

[00:05:10] I am excited. I'm sad. I'm happy. I want to cry. We've come to the end of your Survivor News

[00:05:18] covering season 47. We're covering the season finale of the episode, the season. I'm so excited

[00:05:26] to be here with my brother, my best friend, Wendy Zee Holland. Extreme Home Makeover is

[00:05:36] premiering January 2nd on ABC. Check the DVRs. Yes, Wendy Zee was popping. I'm good, man.

[00:05:48] I'm exhausted from the last two nights, but we are here and we're ready to get it in.

[00:05:56] I'm excited. And we've got, we couldn't do Survivor News without the man, the myth, the people's

[00:06:02] general to the Jack Army, Jack Atkins. You might know him from The Circle. Season two was popping,

[00:06:10] Jack. What's up, guys? What's up? How we doing? I am great. I'm excited to be here. And, you

[00:06:18] know, I was once on Survivor a time or two ago, and I've met a lot of amazing people in the Survivor

[00:06:25] community. And there are some people that you connect with, you say hi, bye to, and there are

[00:06:31] some real people that show up for you in real ways and support you and love on you. And they happen to

[00:06:38] be beautiful. They happen to be talented. And they happen to be doing a outfit of the day.

[00:06:46] Are you doing an outfit of the day on TikTok of your Christmas outfits? I don't think you are.

[00:06:50] I'm hoping you're talking about me because if not, it's going to be really awkward when I say hi.

[00:06:56] Listen, I'm so excited to have the queen, Lauren O'Connell from Survivor Edge of Extinction.

[00:07:01] Her first time on the podcast. What's going on, Lauren?

[00:07:05] I'm so excited to be here. This is so fun. I feel like we've tried a couple of times

[00:07:09] and this is like the best episode to be a guest on. So I feel really special, especially after that intro.

[00:07:15] So it's, uh, it's been a season. It like, so we're honored to have you. Wendell and I just got back

[00:07:21] from the season finale of the BWP tour 47. Y'all were in New York again, right? We were in,

[00:07:30] we were in, uh, Manhattan for Tuesday night for our welcome party. And we ended in Brooklyn,

[00:07:37] uh, for the season finale. Wendell, how would you say the season finale was?

[00:07:41] It was, it was a great finale. It was a great event and it was a great event with a great

[00:07:48] actual episode and winner and everything. So, um, I'm, I'm happy to be with you.

[00:07:55] That's so fun. Yeah. We had the squad in there.

[00:08:00] It was literally a sea of humanity of the amount of people, Lauren and Jack that came out.

[00:08:07] I feel like there always is. I've never been to one of your parties where I wasn't like

[00:08:12] trying to elbow my way through to say hi to you guys.

[00:08:16] Well, I wasn't elbowing my way. I was squeezing by, uh, but there were just so many amazing people.

[00:08:23] And I do want to just take some time to shout out. Uh, I met one of the posse members. Her name was

[00:08:28] Caitlin and she has been listening to survivor news, her and her husband. They love us. They get into

[00:08:35] the arguments and how I knew that they were a posse member. Jack was after we were saying goodbye,

[00:08:40] her husband was like, I'm a member of the Jack shack, but listen, I'm not done. Jack. He said,

[00:08:48] don't say nothing to Jack. Cause I don't want his head to get any bigger.

[00:08:54] Well, there's plenty of room in the, uh, in the shack. So shout out to Caitlin, but I mean,

[00:09:01] you know, just calling him Caitlin's husband, we got to put some more respect on his name. So

[00:09:05] yeah, we do. But there was just so much magic in the air. We had so many survivors, so many

[00:09:12] big brothers, so many love Island, so many squid games, so many circle, so many amazing human beings

[00:09:20] in the building. It was a great event. We had like 450 people, um, at Berry Park, Brooklyn. It was just,

[00:09:29] it was, it was a CMU man. It must have been a huge venue. Yeah. Two floors. So we had a big room

[00:09:36] and a big first floor. And, uh, we had Joey, Joey Hatch and DJ Caution on the ones and twos.

[00:09:44] So it was, yeah. Bryce, what was that photo you just put up? Uh, wait, is that the best photo you got

[00:09:52] from the event? So listen, it was a lot of video, right? Oh, I just assumed it was a video and it

[00:09:58] like accidentally paused. That's the picture. So do you guys ever have a good night and you think

[00:10:03] you taking a photo and then you go back and look and it's like, what was I doing?

[00:10:13] That's the picture you chucked. Listen, Lauren, it was a long night. A lot was happening.

[00:10:19] You are a brave soldier being here right now. It was a long season, but before we get even into

[00:10:25] the episode, you know, the BWP Tour 47 has, we've had 10 stops. This is our biggest tour ever.

[00:10:32] Uh, if you go to a black church, sometimes they do like a praise report. And so I want to just give,

[00:10:38] uh, Survivor News a praise report that Wendell and I have completed 10 cities. We have not had a fight

[00:10:45] during the cities and I'm very happy. However, although we didn't have fights during our tour stops

[00:10:53] last weekend, our, our friendship was tested. We, Wendell and I got into a, you know,

[00:11:00] when you fight with somebody, how you fight, you just don't talk. We, we had an uphill battle last

[00:11:07] weekend and because I'm just being real and transparent. Uh, and I just want to just take

[00:11:12] the time to appreciate Wendell because he's not always right and I'm not always wrong. Uh, but I

[00:11:19] think the thing that I love the most about Wendell is no matter how big the fight is, no matter how

[00:11:26] dramatic the one of us might be, and it's not me. Uh, I said, our friendship has changed.

[00:11:38] No matter what words we have, Lauren, the thing that I really do love the most about Wendell is

[00:11:45] after the next day. When he realizes that you were right. No, cause I wasn't even going to call

[00:11:53] him the next day, the next day, Lauren, because this has happened. We've been friends going on six

[00:11:59] years at this point. Now the very next day after a fight, he always picks up the phone and I appreciate

[00:12:05] that. And we do talk it through. I pick up the phone when it rings, but I will not pick up the phone to

[00:12:12] call him. Stand your ground. Stand your ground. Yeah. Well, you know, I'm gonna let that slide.

[00:12:21] Cause listen, the ice is still very thin, but I do appreciate Wendy's because I feel like I'm,

[00:12:27] I'm a special kind of person and it takes a lot to understand me and I appreciate you.

[00:12:33] And this tour has been epic. And so I just wanted to just start it off with an appreciation to my

[00:12:38] very good friend. Well, now also, go ahead. Okay. Cause I want to talk about something else to Lauren and

[00:12:46] Jack, but any response Wendy's real quick. My only response is I don't even remember why we were

[00:12:54] fighting, but I was in the right in that case. And I appreciate you, my friend Bryce.

[00:13:05] I appreciate you. I can't tell if you guys are making up or still fighting.

[00:13:09] It's touch and go. We're good. If, if, if you remind me of what the fight was about,

[00:13:15] then I'll probably be mad again, but we had a good, we're good. Now Lauren and Jack.

[00:13:22] Uh-oh. I was minding my business this morning in my bed after I walked.

[00:13:32] Nevermind. Uh, after I had to like go to the lobby and come back up to my room. But after I like

[00:13:37] had my space to myself, I'm doing a peruse on the internet and I'm seeing new couple alert,

[00:13:47] new couple alert, new couple alert. I'm like, Oh my God, who's in a relationship? Can y'all believe

[00:13:53] that the rumor mill. I'm sorry, Wendell. Well, I make breaking news. Wendell's in a new relationship

[00:14:01] per. Oh, Sue. You saw it on TikTok. I was like, who I was a little bit nervous. You were going to

[00:14:12] throw me out there. And I was like, how did I not see this? And how did I not miss whom I'm in a

[00:14:16] relationship with? Cause it has happened to me on Reddit before. Um, but I'm so glad it wasn't me.

[00:14:21] And I'm so happy for you, Wendell. That's so exciting. Congratulations.

[00:14:25] I, I, I, I last night I saw that when I was really drunk and I commented on it, like

[00:14:31] my boy, like some, some shit like that. I don't even remember. Like

[00:14:35] I laughed extremely hard. It was fantastic. He can't even catch a break. Wendell can't even walk

[00:14:43] into his own party. And the party recorded it, put it on TikTok. We know the name, but I'll keep it

[00:14:53] cute today. Uh, and they said, Wendell and Sue in a new relationship and no way they were serious.

[00:15:02] I think it was all the comments were like classic Wendell.

[00:15:10] And I had to come in there and get the, get the pictures warm and develop.

[00:15:14] Oh my God. I'm so about to call. I'm so about to comment and be like, I'm so excited for him. This is so,

[00:15:18] I'm so excited to find me out there. Biggest secret I've had to keep.

[00:15:22] Absolutely. Oh no. I'm a hundred percent going on there and commenting that I'm fueling that fire.

[00:15:26] Wait, Lauren, I'm so pissed. It's like, why didn't I release that video?

[00:15:33] No, for sure. For sure.

[00:15:38] I mean, Bryce, you've seen, you've seen me, me and Sue out and about, you know, so like you could

[00:15:43] have, you could have had the breaking news. So I'm just saying. Yeah. But that,

[00:15:53] I said, kind of wild. You attend the party that they work hard to host and then throw out some

[00:16:00] crazy rumors. You're no fun. I thought, I thought, I've seen Wendell go through the ringer and I'm

[00:16:08] going to stop this. All right. Well, I'm about to go comment and be like, Jack, shut up. We all know

[00:16:12] it's true. I love that we have both Jack who I love and he's going to hold me down and Lauren,

[00:16:19] you who we love so much and you're just going to talk trash. I love it. I'm here for both times.

[00:16:26] That's a fantastic video. I laughed way more than I should have at it. And had I known that it was

[00:16:33] okay to comment immediately. Mind you, it is crazy though, because it's like Wendell in the video

[00:16:40] is going in to tell Sue like, Hey, like we're going this way, but you do go

[00:16:48] and Sue's neck does. Yo, you know what? You know what? I was telling Bryce, we just walked in again.

[00:16:57] We said 450 people. Sorry. No, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought Sue was calling.

[00:17:10] Oh, we just walked in and we got to make sure Sue, Sue had plus 30 plus 30. So we had to make sure

[00:17:19] her entourage got to the VIP. You were meeting the family.

[00:17:25] My daughter was there. I met the family. I met her daughter. I met everybody. And yeah. So anyway,

[00:17:33] me and my new family, we were walking to the VIP section and I guess someone spotted Sue and I,

[00:17:40] you know, telling each other how much we love each other and they put it on the internet.

[00:17:47] These kids these days can't be trusted with, with those iPhones. So be careful.

[00:17:52] Thanks Bryce.

[00:17:54] You know, I'm complicit. Okay. Hashtag Bryce is complicit.

[00:17:57] I'm so glad I had seen that TikTok before this, because had I not, I mean, I was a little nervous

[00:18:02] about what you were about to say, because I did not know what direction that's going in. And I'm

[00:18:05] really glad that I was in on, in on that joke.

[00:18:08] I got you boo. Well, listen, we got all of the particulars out. Jackery, take us home for the final

[00:18:15] moderation of season 47.

[00:18:17] Wow. It's bittersweet, but Bryce, I do want to give a quick report from the West coast. I mean,

[00:18:21] you guys were holding it down on the East coast. Lauren and I held it down out in LA.

[00:18:27] And you know, it was no Bryce and Wendell, but it was a good time. And I gotta say a lot of the 47ers

[00:18:33] people I didn't expect said survivor news is their favorite survivor podcast. So I just had to share

[00:18:38] that report with, with you guys. Just, and just throw that out there. And thanks to anyone,

[00:18:44] you know, survivor player or not who's been listening, but yeah, this was a great finale

[00:18:48] to a, what's up Wendell?

[00:18:50] I was just going to say, that's what they call survivor news. Your favorite survivors,

[00:18:54] favorite podcast.

[00:18:56] Exactly.

[00:18:56] Just saying.

[00:18:57] I do also have to say, Jack, there were a lot of people coming up to me saying,

[00:19:01] uh, from our last episode, I think you and I were saying to the posse, we need a posse

[00:19:08] member on season 49. And I got about 10 people coming up to me saying like, it's going to be me.

[00:19:15] So if you spoke to me last night, I hope it is you.

[00:19:20] Let's make it happen.

[00:19:21] Oh, let's go.

[00:19:22] 49 or 48?

[00:19:24] 49.

[00:19:26] Because 48.

[00:19:28] What?

[00:19:29] I mean, if you know, you know, but I'm.

[00:19:31] Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, no. I'm tracking. I'm tracking. I was just wondering.

[00:19:33] I was in the building in Brooklyn, but you know, you ain't here to admit.

[00:19:36] Relax yourself, Bryce.

[00:19:39] Yeah.

[00:19:42] What a, what a great finish to a great season. I don't, I don't even know where to,

[00:19:47] where to get into it, but it was a hell of an episode.

[00:19:51] It was a battle at final travel council too. Uh, and Rachel well-deserving.

[00:19:57] Um, I don't even know where do you guys want to start?

[00:19:59] It was a little bit different than past finales. You know,

[00:20:01] we start right at four and get into that, that epic challenge.

[00:20:04] And then the fire making, uh, which was also wild. Um,

[00:20:09] what, what, what stuck out to you guys? Where should we start? I don't know.

[00:20:12] Well, I got a question.

[00:20:14] Do we like that? It's a two part finale. Now that we,

[00:20:18] now that we've seen what's happened. Um,

[00:20:20] do we like that? We had this, you know, two hours and two hours. Uh,

[00:20:25] because when I was watching this one,

[00:20:27] as soon as Rachel won that immunity challenge, I'm like game over.

[00:20:31] So I'm kind of glad that they saved it for this,

[00:20:34] this portion. Cause I don't know. That's, that was my take.

[00:20:39] I I'm with you. I think, uh, when we have the three hour finale,

[00:20:43] sometimes it's like, you know, give it to me quick. Like,

[00:20:49] you know, like, like.

[00:20:50] Bring somebody back that hasn't played in a minute, make it six,

[00:20:55] final six instead of final five really fill that finale. Right.

[00:20:59] Right. Like, it's like,

[00:21:03] I think I, I think I am, but I don't know.

[00:21:08] No, it was a joke. It was just,

[00:21:12] it was so interesting that there were four people in this finale.

[00:21:15] And I was joking about the fact that my family had six, six of us,

[00:21:18] six and then five and then six again. Um,

[00:21:21] but I feel like since I was on it, which feels like a lifetime ago,

[00:21:25] they're just showing so much more of the personal stories.

[00:21:27] And so cutting it into two parts, let us see,

[00:21:32] I think more of the personal journey that that final three had and feel a

[00:21:36] little bit more connected to them.

[00:21:37] I don't know if you guys felt this way, but going into the final three,

[00:21:39] I was like, I care about all three of these people. Like I really,

[00:21:42] I think in their heads, all of, all three of them believe they can win.

[00:21:45] I think that they're going to give a good personal story.

[00:21:48] And so I think cutting it into two allowed us to see that versus kind of

[00:21:51] stuffing so much into a finale, getting to the final three and being like,

[00:21:55] Oh, okay. They won.

[00:21:59] As, as far as the pacing went, I wasn't mad at it.

[00:22:02] But the one thing for me was that, like you said, Wendell, when, you know,

[00:22:07] going in this finale, it was sort of like, okay,

[00:22:09] if Rachel doesn't lose fire making or the challenge or whatever,

[00:22:13] we can kind of assume she's going to win.

[00:22:16] So I feel like had, you know,

[00:22:18] they saved that final five as part of this finale with Genevieve's exit,

[00:22:21] there would have been a little bit more, um,

[00:22:24] intrigue going in of like the Genevieve versus Rachel showdown.

[00:22:28] Like Genevieve has a good shot to win.

[00:22:30] Rachel has a good shot to sit with Sam's a dark horse.

[00:22:33] Plus you think about like that epic final six tribal last week, you know,

[00:22:38] having that, then that final five being right after it,

[00:22:41] you kind of lose a little bit of that value,

[00:22:43] like are talking about the rest of the week.

[00:22:45] So I would have liked maybe that final five to be part of the finale.

[00:22:48] But as far as like, you know, being at a finale watch party,

[00:22:52] I'm kind of glad we didn't have to sit through like three hours of Survivor.

[00:22:55] Right. It was nice to have it split up.

[00:22:57] So kind of a, kind of a double-edged sword.

[00:23:00] I'll say this.

[00:23:02] I was right.

[00:23:03] When Rachel won the immunity, I said, okay, give it a million dollars.

[00:23:07] Right. Like I kind of was like over it in the sense that she was so deserving.

[00:23:11] However, I do want to give props to the editors and just even maybe,

[00:23:15] should I say the wind?

[00:23:17] Because although I felt like the deal was sealed after Rachel won,

[00:23:22] that fire making challenge, in my opinion, was, had me on the edge of my seat.

[00:23:28] And that's kind of like the excitement that I needed and wanted for the episode.

[00:23:32] So although I didn't love it as a viewer,

[00:23:37] and of course I'm team Rachel wanted Rachel to win,

[00:23:39] but I wanted some like, I don't know what's going to happen.

[00:23:41] What's, what is it going to be?

[00:23:43] I felt like the wind.

[00:23:45] So shout out to the wind.

[00:23:47] And Sam really brought it at the final travel.

[00:23:51] And that's actually something I want to ask you guys about,

[00:23:53] because I feel like you said, you know, you give some props to the editors.

[00:23:57] We were kind of sitting there thinking, is Sam going to pull out this wind?

[00:24:01] Now, my question about that is like,

[00:24:03] I feel like there has to be things that Rachel shared at final travel council

[00:24:07] that maybe weren't shown in order to make it a little bit less obvious.

[00:24:12] Do you guys want it to be like edited so that it's sort of up in the air?

[00:24:16] Or do you want to feel like, okay, Rachel ends up winning.

[00:24:19] I want to see everything that Rachel talked about to really win the jury over.

[00:24:23] Cause I'm kind of split on it.

[00:24:25] It's a TV show.

[00:24:27] So they're made, they,

[00:24:28] they want it to be as suspenseful as possible and drama filled as they can to

[00:24:33] tilt, to still tell like the, the story.

[00:24:37] So I, yeah, you want to see it, but you don't want to watch a landslide.

[00:24:41] You know, you want to see you, you want there to be some, some idea.

[00:24:46] And even walking into this episode, I'm like, no, a Rachel win is too obvious.

[00:24:52] So, and we've seen Gabler do it, you know, so there's gotta be something that's going to happen.

[00:25:00] So I, as they gotta tell, it's, it's gotta be an entertaining television show at the end of the

[00:25:06] day, if you ask me, and that's why they're going to bolster whoever's going to be second or even third,

[00:25:11] whatever, they're going to make sure that they look like they're giving this person some go.

[00:25:17] I have a question for you guys.

[00:25:18] And I don't think we've ever talked about this, but I have an interesting kind of backstory to it.

[00:25:24] The final four fire making challenge, right?

[00:25:27] Rachel said an interest, had an interesting comment about,

[00:25:30] I don't have to give the necklace up.

[00:25:32] Well, actually let me backtrack.

[00:25:33] Jeff says, who are you going to make earn their spot in the final four?

[00:25:38] Which I think is a really interesting way to word that.

[00:25:40] Rachel comes back and says, I don't have to give my,

[00:25:44] I don't have to give my necklace up to beat Sam because I've already earned my spot.

[00:25:47] So backtrack to 2018.

[00:25:49] I am sitting in Fiji at pregame the day before we are marooned.

[00:25:54] We watched your finale, Wendell.

[00:25:57] Yes.

[00:25:58] Uh-huh.

[00:25:58] We watched your finale.

[00:26:00] Yeah.

[00:26:00] And there was a bunch of commentary about how if he'd given the necklace up and he had competed

[00:26:06] in fire, which I'm telling you, I think changed the entire trajectory of our end game.

[00:26:11] I stand by it.

[00:26:12] I think there's no way that that idea, not to discredit the move that Chris made on my season.

[00:26:18] Chris played a perfect game.

[00:26:20] Like I think all survivors that get the most amount of jury votes deserve to win.

[00:26:24] I just want to make that very clear.

[00:26:25] However, the day before we are marooned, we see your finale.

[00:26:30] We see all this discourse surrounding, well, if he had given the necklace up to beat him

[00:26:35] in fire, then he probably would have won.

[00:26:38] Yeah.

[00:26:39] And I think that, I think that that, I mean, I know that that's the idea that was circulating

[00:26:44] around edge of extinction when the plan was kind of devised, right?

[00:26:48] So my question for you is, do you think that the idea that someone has to earn their way

[00:26:57] into the final four through fire is the way to word that?

[00:27:01] Or is it, and do you think that that changes the way the jury sees that third jury member?

[00:27:07] Or is it a, you lost, so you have a chance to save yourself.

[00:27:11] Good luck.

[00:27:14] Because I, I don't think at all that the person who wins that final immunity challenge should

[00:27:19] ever feel like, unless they played an absolutely terrible, terrible game, I get it.

[00:27:24] It's the last thing that the jury members see.

[00:27:25] But if you've had a game like Rachel, right?

[00:27:29] Why do you feel like you need to give that necklace up just to prove something?

[00:27:34] So that's my question for you is, I know you have a really interesting experience with

[00:27:38] that.

[00:27:38] So.

[00:27:39] So what's the question?

[00:27:40] Just kidding.

[00:27:41] No.

[00:27:42] No, no.

[00:27:43] But to that, first of all, Chris Underwood, because he had such a limited time in the

[00:27:48] game and because Rick Devins was still there, you got to swing for the fences and everything

[00:27:53] you can.

[00:27:53] Totally.

[00:27:54] Yeah.

[00:27:54] Like he made every perfect move at the end.

[00:27:56] Absolutely.

[00:27:57] Speaking about Coast Island, I think if Dom would have relinquished that necklace,

[00:28:02] I think he had to be in order to beat you, right?

[00:28:08] But how much of it?

[00:28:10] He got so like he got as close as you can.

[00:28:13] Like if the wind would like.

[00:28:16] If he would have relinquished it and taken me out at fire or whatever would have happened

[00:28:20] at fire, then he's sitting at the end with Angela and Laurel and he wins.

[00:28:25] Yeah.

[00:28:27] Right.

[00:28:27] If he would have relinquished it and just taken or let me go to the end and maybe beat

[00:28:33] an Angela, maybe that's another tick on his resume.

[00:28:37] Do you feel like that discredits you?

[00:28:39] Do you feel like that discredits you?

[00:28:40] Because now he's given you this way into final.

[00:28:43] I just think it's a really interesting conversation.

[00:28:45] Okay.

[00:28:45] So if you're asking me, if Dom wins, takes it off, gives it to, lets me walk to final and

[00:28:55] he goes and beats someone.

[00:28:56] Yeah.

[00:28:57] I think that that makes me look a little weaker.

[00:29:01] It's like, yo man, go ahead.

[00:29:03] I'm going to beat you tomorrow night.

[00:29:05] And what happened in 45?

[00:29:08] Did, did D send Austin right to the final two?

[00:29:16] What happened?

[00:29:16] Cause I think I'm thinking like when you put someone there, it's like, all right, you can

[00:29:22] beat them.

[00:29:22] So in my case, it would be like, Dom is putting me there.

[00:29:25] He can, he can beat me.

[00:29:26] And then I feel like recently we saw something like that.

[00:29:30] So yeah, to, to your, to your point, I think.

[00:29:34] Like it would make the jury think like, dad, like this guy is very confident in himself.

[00:29:40] And he thinks that that person maybe not be a layup, but might just be someone like that

[00:29:45] he could just beat.

[00:29:46] Applying that to this.

[00:29:48] Okay.

[00:29:49] Go ahead.

[00:29:49] Keep going.

[00:29:50] Applying that to this season.

[00:29:52] First of all, Rachel's game speaks for itself.

[00:29:55] She's a beast.

[00:29:56] You don't need to prove anything else.

[00:29:58] She should have won that.

[00:30:01] So what would we do in that situation?

[00:30:04] She would, she wouldn't have to take anything off.

[00:30:06] Like she wouldn't.

[00:30:08] Yeah.

[00:30:08] There's no, but also when it comes to like earning your way in, I do think it's a, Hey, y'all

[00:30:14] lost.

[00:30:14] And now it's like, all right.

[00:30:17] One of you, one of you losers beat the other to, to get to, to sit at the end.

[00:30:21] And that was me.

[00:30:22] I was one of the losers that had to beat the other to sit at the end.

[00:30:25] But fortunately I had a strong game to go with me losing that final four challenge.

[00:30:30] Yeah.

[00:30:31] I don't think it's a one size fits all ever, obviously, but I do think it's really interesting

[00:30:35] to have someone like Sam, right?

[00:30:38] He gets to have this big win in front of the jury.

[00:30:41] It's the last thing they see because they don't see the final immunity challenge.

[00:30:44] They don't see whatever happened that Rachel had to do in order to win that immunity necklace.

[00:30:50] That's giving her the same journey to the final three that Sam is relatively getting right.

[00:30:57] They're both getting there by winning something, but the jury gets to see the final four.

[00:31:02] That's a great challenge.

[00:31:04] And so I, it's like the last thing they see before they have to go.

[00:31:07] Them, them, them, them something that looks strong.

[00:31:11] And so this is so interesting, right?

[00:31:14] Because it's like, I feel like Rachel gave Sam a extra, right?

[00:31:21] Because like the thought is if she would have brought Sam with her, like, do you think

[00:31:26] that that would have changed anything from the jury?

[00:31:30] He only got one though anyway, right?

[00:31:32] Right.

[00:31:34] So that's very interesting because I really think like him beating it in fire kind of

[00:31:40] adds a little more like to his game.

[00:31:44] And that's what I'm saying is I think that the person who wins fire, that is the last thing

[00:31:48] the jury is saying.

[00:31:49] They don't get to see that final immunity challenge.

[00:31:51] And so it's like, I think, I mean, obviously it's not the same for every season.

[00:31:55] Season.

[00:31:57] And Rachel had a fantastic game, but I, I just think it's such an interesting way to

[00:32:01] listen to Jeff word it as earn your way into the final three because yes, you are.

[00:32:07] But I really feel like it discredits that person who wins the final four immunity challenge.

[00:32:12] Yeah.

[00:32:13] I'm glad you brought this up because I think there's a lot of different things to talk

[00:32:16] about with it.

[00:32:17] I agree.

[00:32:18] Like, I think at least in my mind, and it feels like a lot of, especially more like

[00:32:22] the modern survivor players is that you shouldn't really care that much about fire, right?

[00:32:26] If you already have the best resume, it shouldn't affect things.

[00:32:30] Like you shouldn't, if Rachel shouldn't have to give up the immunity, but like you said,

[00:32:33] nobody sees the immunity challenge, but you do see somebody inevitably succeeding in fire.

[00:32:38] And sometimes that now I agree with giving up the necklace.

[00:32:41] If it's like, okay, Wendell's going to win the game and I'm the only one who can beat him

[00:32:46] in fire.

[00:32:47] I have to give up the necklace and take him out in fire.

[00:32:49] But in any other circumstance, I don't think you need to.

[00:32:53] The interesting thing you guys also brought up is like that idea of, right?

[00:32:57] So inevitably, you know, even if someone says they don't care about fire, just seeing someone

[00:33:02] triumph might be a small nudge in any sort of direction.

[00:33:05] And so then it's like, I remember Xander said that in 41, he brought Erica with him to

[00:33:13] the end and made Deshaun and Heather make fire because he was actually the most scared of

[00:33:18] Erica winning.

[00:33:19] And so he thought, hey, like instead of, you know, if I bring her to the end, don't give

[00:33:24] her that chance to shine.

[00:33:25] I think I might be able to beat her.

[00:33:26] But if I let her make fire and she wins, then she might be able to edge me out.

[00:33:30] And so just that idea of bringing someone to the end and not giving them that moment

[00:33:34] is also very interesting.

[00:33:36] But I think Rachel played it totally fine.

[00:33:38] Like to me, you shouldn't feel like you have to make fire.

[00:33:41] It's literally, it's just that, just making fire.

[00:33:43] Like it's not that impressive of a thing.

[00:33:45] You're on Survivor, right?

[00:33:47] But do you make fire, Jack?

[00:33:51] I might be in the same situation where, you know, but if I was out there for 26 days, I

[00:33:56] feel pretty good about the fact that I would be able to make a fire.

[00:33:59] I'm a good fire builder.

[00:34:01] I haven't experimented.

[00:34:02] 26 ain't that long, Jack.

[00:34:03] Oh, it's a new era.

[00:34:06] That's all you need.

[00:34:07] I agree with you.

[00:34:08] I agree with you.

[00:34:09] But I mean, I'll stay an extra 13 and just hang out.

[00:34:15] Yeah.

[00:34:16] It was surprising to me how underprepared Sam was, but he had that dog in it to flush it

[00:34:21] out.

[00:34:21] But so that was another question.

[00:34:24] And maybe I was one margarita in.

[00:34:29] Was he really underprepared or was he just like saying that to say that?

[00:34:35] He was nagging.

[00:34:36] He was underprepared.

[00:34:37] I think he was under the air.

[00:34:39] Yeah.

[00:34:40] But also.

[00:34:41] While y'all were out there, how many times did you personally make the fire for your camp?

[00:34:47] I was out there for a total of nine days.

[00:34:49] I was a part of, we didn't get Flint.

[00:34:52] And it's not a hateful question.

[00:34:54] It's generally like there are people that just didn't ever make the fire for their camp.

[00:34:57] There are people that's just like, wasn't what they did.

[00:35:00] So if he was out there for 26 days, he might not have ever made or however long he's

[00:35:04] out there.

[00:35:04] You know what I mean?

[00:35:05] Out there, they call me Lil Wayne because I was the fire man, fire man.

[00:35:09] Okay.

[00:35:09] Like I was a part of helping the fire started and I kept the fire going.

[00:35:14] So like, I was very prepared.

[00:35:16] Well, that is not even to disagree with you, right?

[00:35:19] It's just like, I see why that's a good question because, you know, you might get the fire started

[00:35:24] day one with the Flint.

[00:35:26] Someone does that.

[00:35:27] But as long as it's still going, then you're just adding fuel to it.

[00:35:30] You know, you're just adding.

[00:35:31] It's not that simple.

[00:35:32] It's not as simple.

[00:35:33] It's not as simple.

[00:35:34] Especially if you're going to tribal as many times as my truck did.

[00:35:37] That is a strategy game to keep that thing going while you're gone.

[00:35:40] You keep it going.

[00:35:42] You're adding.

[00:35:42] But you can't though.

[00:35:44] But it might not be the act of like scraping the Flint that I don't know how many times

[00:35:49] that would happen because it's like you might get it and keep it going for days.

[00:35:52] And then, okay, you can be tending to the fire, adding sticks, poking things around,

[00:35:58] but you might not have that practice of like.

[00:36:01] Jack.

[00:36:01] So, okay.

[00:36:02] Jack, this is the last.

[00:36:03] Okay.

[00:36:04] This is the last episode, Jack.

[00:36:05] But what I'm about to say is, given the fire sticks and feeding the fire is a very respectable

[00:36:12] job.

[00:36:13] It takes a lot.

[00:36:14] Okay.

[00:36:15] But you're diminishing.

[00:36:16] You just diminished.

[00:36:19] Well, but I'm saying it's a respectable job.

[00:36:21] But if all you've done the whole season is fuel the fire, but you've never practiced with

[00:36:26] the Flint, then obviously you're going to be unprepared.

[00:36:28] Are you trying to fuel my fire right now?

[00:36:31] I did not mean to start this.

[00:36:33] I was really stressed about it.

[00:36:35] This isn't an argument.

[00:36:36] You can't stay trying to diminish somebody's work and reputation.

[00:36:41] Well, Bryce, if you add a bunch of sticks to a fire.

[00:36:44] You ain't adding sticks.

[00:36:45] Oh, my God.

[00:36:47] Everyone, we have an island with you.

[00:36:48] Bryce, you can't just be like, for the fire making challenge, I just want to add the sticks.

[00:36:53] I don't want to.

[00:36:54] You got to do the other part too.

[00:36:56] But also, at the fire making challenge, you need to add the sticks at the right time.

[00:37:03] Building a fire is just as important as getting that flame.

[00:37:06] Talk about it, Lauren.

[00:37:07] Talk about it, Lauren.

[00:37:09] You can get a flame, but I'm telling you that thing's going to go quick.

[00:37:13] Talk about it, Lauren.

[00:37:13] Lauren.

[00:37:14] I'm not trying to argue with anyone.

[00:37:16] No.

[00:37:17] One is being able to light the fire, and then you don't know about the rest of it after.

[00:37:22] You haven't been here for weeks, but Jack has turned into a different animal.

[00:37:26] Okay, Lauren, Jack has three people in the comments that agree with Jack, and two of the people are Jack.

[00:37:33] I mean, and now, Paul Jack.

[00:37:37] One of them's my mom.

[00:37:38] He says it straight.

[00:37:40] And one of the biggest Jack supporters in the comments, their name is Q Jack.

[00:37:45] Jack's mama?

[00:37:46] Yeah.

[00:37:46] Q Jack's.

[00:37:48] So, I mean, I just.

[00:37:49] Wait, wait.

[00:37:49] This wasn't meant to be a hot take.

[00:37:51] All I'm saying is if you haven't practiced lighting the flint, you might not be ready for the fire.

[00:37:57] Okay.

[00:37:57] Is that crazy?

[00:37:59] So, we're clear, though.

[00:38:00] I practiced.

[00:38:01] I helped start our original fire, and for the remainder two days that I was there, I kept it going.

[00:38:08] What I was saying was not diminishing anything about you.

[00:38:12] I'm saying maybe Sam was there and throughout his time on the island was helping, you know, keep that fire going.

[00:38:18] But if he hadn't ever been the one to start it, then you're going to have a hard time starting a fire if you've never done that step, you know?

[00:38:29] True.

[00:38:30] Now, when's the last time you started a fire, Jack?

[00:38:35] I've started a couple fires.

[00:38:37] You know, but usually I have like a, I don't have a fire.

[00:38:40] A lighter?

[00:38:41] Or like a, yeah.

[00:38:43] Match?

[00:38:44] Or a match.

[00:38:46] Yeah, a match.

[00:38:46] And maybe like a fire starting log.

[00:38:48] But I can build a good fire.

[00:38:50] Don't get me wrong.

[00:38:51] But if you threw me in a fire digging challenge right now, I've never used, I've never really used a flint.

[00:38:54] So, that's why I'd have to practice a little bit.

[00:38:57] Lauren, before you went out, did you practice fire?

[00:39:05] Once or twice, maybe.

[00:39:06] Listen, I was like the most underprepared person, most naive person going into the show ever.

[00:39:11] You need to understand, I had about, let's see, they told me last week of April.

[00:39:15] And I left May 23rd.

[00:39:18] So, I had like four weeks to graduate from college, move out of Baylor, move home, get my stuff ready for Georgetown.

[00:39:25] Figure out what the heck I was going to do with like clothing and all.

[00:39:29] Like, I had very little time and I was like, oh, so very little practice with the fire.

[00:39:35] But I did, I did make the fire quite a few times while actually on our tribe.

[00:39:43] Now, because Jack is here, did you make it or did you just add sticks to an already going fire so we're clear?

[00:39:52] That's a great question, Bryce.

[00:39:53] Thank you.

[00:39:54] I did, I did make it.

[00:39:55] I did make it.

[00:39:56] But I will say, shout out to Kelly Wentworth, which I've never ever been on a Survivor podcast in my life and not talked about Kelly Wentworth.

[00:40:03] So, we had to get it in somewhere.

[00:40:06] But she like 24-7 is making sure that fire is going throughout the night.

[00:40:12] And I would like, there's something about waking up, freezing, seeing that your fire has gone out.

[00:40:17] That makes you really appreciate the people that put the sticks on the fire, Jack.

[00:40:21] That's real.

[00:40:24] And that same, but in that same token, because that's what I thought going out on Kageon.

[00:40:31] If I keep that fire going, they would appreciate a girl.

[00:40:36] They would show a girl love.

[00:40:38] I wish I would have let that mother go out because that was one of my tactics.

[00:40:45] I was constantly in the middle of the night getting up and I'm like, ooh, they're going to be like, we got to keep Bryce because he's keeping the fire going.

[00:40:56] And, random fact, I used to go to the well in the morning and in the afternoon and I would fill up everybody's water.

[00:41:04] They did not deserve you.

[00:41:06] They did not deserve you.

[00:41:07] You were too good at that.

[00:41:11] Those MFers.

[00:41:13] All right.

[00:41:14] I got a question about the fire.

[00:41:15] We saw Teenie with the wind issue and we saw Sam sitting right next to her.

[00:41:22] He didn't have as bad of a wind issue.

[00:41:25] Should Teenie have rotated her body to the side where the wind was?

[00:41:31] Blocked on the wind.

[00:41:33] But can't you do that?

[00:41:35] I'm going to be so honest.

[00:41:37] I was so confused how the wind was only hitting hers.

[00:41:41] Her fire was getting in the wind.

[00:41:43] No, for sure.

[00:41:44] I was like, who?

[00:41:46] What's happening?

[00:41:47] I clearly do not understand weather in the slightest because it didn't look like the wind was hitting his at all.

[00:41:52] Or it looked like it was coming the opposite way.

[00:41:54] I'm like, what's going on?

[00:41:56] We had so much wind on my season that they did it up in the voting booth.

[00:42:00] So we didn't even see the fireman challenge.

[00:42:02] We just like heard Jeff narrate it.

[00:42:04] Oh, right.

[00:42:05] Which is crazy.

[00:42:07] But Jeff was just narrating it because there was so much wind.

[00:42:10] Did the wind start halfway through?

[00:42:14] Because it looked like her fire was going for so long.

[00:42:17] I don't know if that's how they edited it, but it looked like it was hitting that rope for so long.

[00:42:23] Yeah, it looked like that.

[00:42:24] Maybe they wanted the drama this time.

[00:42:26] Maybe they were like, there's some wind.

[00:42:28] We're going to see it.

[00:42:30] I also feel like on these first time seasons, you even saying that, Wendell, she moved her body.

[00:42:37] I feel like when I was out there, I was like, whatever they say, you got to do.

[00:42:42] And so I feel like there could have been a part of production saying like, sit here and build your fire.

[00:42:48] That would have never crossed my mind to get up and like block the wind with my body.

[00:42:53] That's such a good point because she's, they're super young.

[00:42:58] Correct?

[00:42:59] 20, 30.

[00:43:00] 20.

[00:43:01] I, while I was watching this finale, I was thinking about that because I was 21 when I was on it.

[00:43:06] I was thinking about how differently I would play now because I think because I was so young and Jeff said it in, I guess, the reunion or whatever they call it now, about how just life experience, it does impact your game.

[00:43:22] And I remember him telling me that when I was 21.

[00:43:23] I was like, I had like four surgeries on my knee.

[00:43:26] I played college soccer.

[00:43:27] Like, I'm good.

[00:43:28] I look back and I'm like, oh my gosh, I would play so differently now because I have so much more of my identity form.

[00:43:34] I, I don't, I question things more.

[00:43:36] I feel more comfortable in my own skin and I feel able to like make decisions based on what I think is best versus just listening to someone.

[00:43:44] So I think it's such a good point for us to say, okay, maybe they're just sitting there being like, this is what I have to do.

[00:43:51] I can't make a change to what they've told me versus you, Wendell, who's like, I can do whatever the heck I want.

[00:43:56] Right.

[00:43:57] A hundred percent.

[00:43:59] That whole, um, like I looked at when I was on, I was, I was 33 and I told myself after that season, I'm like, man, if I would have gotten on in my twenties, I would have played a totally different game.

[00:44:11] And I'm so glad that I got on at this stage in life because it's like, did you apply prior to that?

[00:44:17] Quite a few times.

[00:44:18] And you only applied once with a 30 second video and you made it nine days.

[00:44:23] That was hateful.

[00:44:25] You see how nasty he is?

[00:44:27] During the holiday time.

[00:44:28] Yeah.

[00:44:29] I like that.

[00:44:29] During the holiday time.

[00:44:31] I love that.

[00:44:32] I only applied once too, Bryce.

[00:44:35] Okay.

[00:44:36] So call the next day.

[00:44:37] But it's not so much about how many times.

[00:44:40] But I'm also a loser.

[00:44:43] As am I and as am Jack.

[00:44:45] But it's not.

[00:44:47] Come on, man.

[00:44:49] Lauren, it's not about how many times Wendell has applied.

[00:44:54] It's the fact that I've seen 13 of the videos.

[00:45:00] And when I say Lauren, they are bad.

[00:45:07] Like there's one video where Wendell used to clerk in a courthouse.

[00:45:12] And like for the first two minutes of the video.

[00:45:16] Clerk.

[00:45:18] First two minutes?

[00:45:19] Girl.

[00:45:22] I said.

[00:45:23] I was like 50 seconds.

[00:45:25] The first two minutes of the video is Wendell walking into the courtroom.

[00:45:33] He sets the phone up.

[00:45:35] And then he's like.

[00:45:38] Hi.

[00:45:39] My name is Wendell Holland.

[00:45:42] I'm sitting in a courtroom.

[00:45:44] I was like.

[00:45:46] What?

[00:45:47] I was in a jury box.

[00:45:48] And I told them that I'm not going to be in a jury box.

[00:45:52] Listen, we can make.

[00:45:53] We can make fun of you because you won and we didn't.

[00:45:55] Let us have it.

[00:45:56] Right.

[00:45:56] Let us have it.

[00:45:59] He spent two minutes walking in.

[00:46:03] Set the camera up.

[00:46:04] Is that the one that got you cast?

[00:46:06] No.

[00:46:07] Clearly.

[00:46:08] No.

[00:46:09] You can tell.

[00:46:10] I can't imagine why.

[00:46:12] You know what?

[00:46:13] I don't want to eat though.

[00:46:15] Because he set the camera down.

[00:46:17] He walked in the jury box.

[00:46:21] My name's Wendell Holland.

[00:46:24] All right.

[00:46:25] As you can see.

[00:46:28] This is not a roast.

[00:46:32] We're here to talk about Rachel and.

[00:46:34] And thank you.

[00:46:36] Do you feel like she got a winner's edit?

[00:46:41] I do.

[00:46:42] Yes and no.

[00:46:43] Yes and no.

[00:46:44] Because.

[00:46:45] Well, let's be clear.

[00:46:47] There have been seasons.

[00:46:49] That.

[00:46:50] In my opinion.

[00:46:52] When we say winner's edit.

[00:46:54] There have been older seasons.

[00:46:56] Where.

[00:46:57] From day.

[00:46:58] One.

[00:47:00] They are shining.

[00:47:02] A light.

[00:47:04] On someone.

[00:47:05] And.

[00:47:06] It's like.

[00:47:07] Very.

[00:47:08] Who.

[00:47:09] Look at them.

[00:47:11] And I.

[00:47:12] So I don't say.

[00:47:13] Rachel got a winner's edit.

[00:47:14] Right.

[00:47:15] I feel like.

[00:47:16] There were.

[00:47:17] Peaks.

[00:47:17] And valleys.

[00:47:18] Now.

[00:47:19] I feel like.

[00:47:20] Towards the beginning.

[00:47:22] There were a lot of valleys.

[00:47:23] However.

[00:47:24] At the end.

[00:47:25] There were peaks.

[00:47:26] And when she peaked.

[00:47:27] It was.

[00:47:28] Peaky.

[00:47:29] Not peekaboo.

[00:47:30] Not.

[00:47:30] Not peek.

[00:47:31] No.

[00:47:32] What is it?

[00:47:33] Peekaboo.

[00:47:34] It wasn't peekaboo.

[00:47:35] It was just.

[00:47:37] Peek.

[00:47:37] Peek.

[00:47:38] I have a.

[00:47:39] Another follow up question.

[00:47:41] What do you think her.

[00:47:42] Most impressive.

[00:47:43] Move was.

[00:47:46] Okay.

[00:47:47] It was a good question.

[00:47:49] So.

[00:47:50] My.

[00:47:50] Point blank period.

[00:47:52] Can't wait.

[00:47:53] When she.

[00:47:54] Utilized.

[00:47:55] Her.

[00:47:57] Shot in the dark.

[00:47:58] Shot in the dark.

[00:47:59] To gauge.

[00:48:01] Them.

[00:48:01] M.

[00:48:02] Effers.

[00:48:03] On a body language.

[00:48:04] And moves.

[00:48:05] For me.

[00:48:06] She sold me.

[00:48:07] Like that.

[00:48:08] Like for me.

[00:48:09] That was very impressive.

[00:48:10] We didn't really get to see her talk about that.

[00:48:12] That's kind of.

[00:48:12] Talk about that though.

[00:48:13] That was kind of like.

[00:48:14] What I was.

[00:48:15] Like referring to.

[00:48:16] Is that.

[00:48:16] That was such a great move.

[00:48:17] And we didn't hear her.

[00:48:19] Elaborate on it.

[00:48:19] At all.

[00:48:20] But I agree.

[00:48:22] They gave us breadcrumbs.

[00:48:23] Like when she tried to steal rice.

[00:48:26] Yeah.

[00:48:26] And then you get.

[00:48:27] Then you get her making that shot in the dark move.

[00:48:29] If she's not the winner.

[00:48:31] I don't think.

[00:48:32] They.

[00:48:33] Take so much attention.

[00:48:34] Showing us.

[00:48:36] How like.

[00:48:37] How much time she took with it.

[00:48:39] And her like looks.

[00:48:40] They might have shown it briefly or something.

[00:48:42] But like.

[00:48:42] They really fed that.

[00:48:44] That portion to us.

[00:48:45] So you got the rice.

[00:48:46] You got that.

[00:48:47] And then she.

[00:48:47] She goes on these immunity runs.

[00:48:49] And like.

[00:48:49] Wins when she has to win.

[00:48:51] Takes out freaking Genevieve.

[00:48:52] Who is such a strong player.

[00:48:55] To me.

[00:48:56] It's like.

[00:48:57] She.

[00:48:57] In the new era.

[00:48:59] This is what we call.

[00:49:00] A winner's edit.

[00:49:01] From my perspective.

[00:49:02] Yeah.

[00:49:02] Sure.

[00:49:03] I felt that.

[00:49:04] She was.

[00:49:05] Going.

[00:49:05] So.

[00:49:06] I didn't think there was any chance.

[00:49:07] She didn't win.

[00:49:08] After they showed her playing her idol.

[00:49:09] And the reason I say that.

[00:49:11] Is because.

[00:49:13] And this isn't to discredit.

[00:49:14] The move at all.

[00:49:15] Or what she had done.

[00:49:17] But.

[00:49:17] Would have been nice.

[00:49:18] If someone had told me.

[00:49:20] And every single person on my tribe.

[00:49:21] Had told me.

[00:49:22] Hey we're voting for you tonight.

[00:49:23] You know what I mean.

[00:49:23] And I had an idol.

[00:49:24] And nobody knew about it.

[00:49:25] Like.

[00:49:26] I'm not saying that.

[00:49:27] I.

[00:49:27] I understand holding on to the idol.

[00:49:29] There's so many things.

[00:49:30] That go into.

[00:49:31] That play.

[00:49:32] Working.

[00:49:32] And making her a great player.

[00:49:34] Right.

[00:49:34] But I.

[00:49:34] I think they really.

[00:49:36] Really made that play.

[00:49:38] So important.

[00:49:39] And made her.

[00:49:40] Like they showed her.

[00:49:40] Creeping up on.

[00:49:41] Them listening.

[00:49:42] As if.

[00:49:43] You know.

[00:49:43] They weren't about to just tell her.

[00:49:44] The next day.

[00:49:44] Hey we're voting for you.

[00:49:45] Ma'am.

[00:49:46] You got to play your idol.

[00:49:47] Now that they knew.

[00:49:48] But.

[00:49:48] I felt like.

[00:49:50] Had she not been the winner.

[00:49:51] It would have just been like.

[00:49:53] Yeah.

[00:49:53] I think I'm going home.

[00:49:54] And she would have played her idol.

[00:49:56] Do you disagree?

[00:49:58] I agree.

[00:49:59] I also feel like.

[00:50:01] For me.

[00:50:02] One of her biggest strengths.

[00:50:03] Or one of her biggest moves.

[00:50:05] That's not necessarily a move.

[00:50:07] Is.

[00:50:07] She never got comfortable.

[00:50:09] I feel like.

[00:50:10] Season after season.

[00:50:11] We always see.

[00:50:12] There's a moment.

[00:50:13] Or.

[00:50:13] Maybe not even a moment.

[00:50:15] Where.

[00:50:15] The editors are asking you questions.

[00:50:18] And you give them that like.

[00:50:20] I'm good.

[00:50:21] Jack leaving the night.

[00:50:23] Right.

[00:50:23] Like I.

[00:50:23] Feel like.

[00:50:24] She was cognizant enough.

[00:50:26] To know.

[00:50:27] This whole time.

[00:50:28] That whether or not.

[00:50:28] She's in a good position or not.

[00:50:30] Like.

[00:50:31] I gotta keep fighting.

[00:50:32] I have to like.

[00:50:33] I gotta keep shaking the table.

[00:50:35] And I felt like.

[00:50:36] She's been shaking the table.

[00:50:37] And trying to figure out.

[00:50:39] How to continue.

[00:50:40] To just stay alive.

[00:50:41] And I think like.

[00:50:42] That's really.

[00:50:43] Her greatest move for me.

[00:50:45] How.

[00:50:46] I feel like.

[00:50:46] I feel like.

[00:50:46] I need to preface this.

[00:50:47] Because I think she is.

[00:50:48] Phenomenal.

[00:50:49] I think her game was amazing.

[00:50:50] I.

[00:50:50] Listening to her talk about things.

[00:50:52] Listening to the way that.

[00:50:52] She was looking at the game.

[00:50:54] Just so so so impressive.

[00:50:55] Fantastic.

[00:50:56] But how much of you saying.

[00:50:58] We never heard her get comfortable.

[00:50:59] Do you think.

[00:51:00] Is the editors.

[00:51:00] Because.

[00:51:02] There is for sure.

[00:51:03] One confessional.

[00:51:04] I personally remember.

[00:51:05] Of myself.

[00:51:06] Being like.

[00:51:07] I will actually.

[00:51:08] Jump off a roof.

[00:51:09] If they play this.

[00:51:10] Because.

[00:51:11] So embarrassing.

[00:51:12] So embarrassing.

[00:51:13] And they didn't.

[00:51:13] They didn't play it.

[00:51:14] And it was one of those moments.

[00:51:15] Where I was like.

[00:51:15] Oh my.

[00:51:16] Like just.

[00:51:17] Really feeling myself.

[00:51:18] Thought it was awesome.

[00:51:18] I would have looked like an idiot.

[00:51:21] I would have looked like an idiot.

[00:51:22] And I think the reason.

[00:51:23] They didn't show it.

[00:51:23] Was because they had to show.

[00:51:25] Why Chris.

[00:51:26] Playing how he did.

[00:51:27] Was so important.

[00:51:28] Like there was.

[00:51:29] Reasons why I think.

[00:51:30] That wasn't shown.

[00:51:31] So I'm just wondering.

[00:51:32] If you think.

[00:51:33] You really think.

[00:51:34] She was never feeling comfortable.

[00:51:35] Or if there were moments.

[00:51:36] Where she felt comfortable.

[00:51:37] And we just didn't see it.

[00:51:38] I don't think.

[00:51:39] I think she's the person.

[00:51:41] That never got comfortable.

[00:51:42] Yeah.

[00:51:43] I really do.

[00:51:45] And.

[00:51:46] Did she ever have a chance.

[00:51:47] To feel comfortable?

[00:51:48] Right.

[00:51:48] I see.

[00:51:49] Eyes were on her.

[00:51:51] And.

[00:51:51] All the time.

[00:51:52] Yeah.

[00:51:53] She was.

[00:51:53] A head and shoulders.

[00:51:54] Above a lot of players.

[00:51:55] It's like.

[00:51:56] If you get.

[00:51:57] Like.

[00:51:57] They're coming for you.

[00:51:59] You can't.

[00:51:59] You have no.

[00:52:00] Yeah.

[00:52:01] Which is kind of.

[00:52:02] Not a nice place to be.

[00:52:03] But at least.

[00:52:04] There is a sense of.

[00:52:07] Urgency.

[00:52:07] There's a sense of.

[00:52:09] Needing to win.

[00:52:09] And I think.

[00:52:10] That.

[00:52:11] That.

[00:52:12] Helps.

[00:52:13] I think it helps so much.

[00:52:14] I think the second.

[00:52:15] That you ever feel.

[00:52:16] Like you have.

[00:52:17] The next day figured out.

[00:52:19] Is the day that you go home.

[00:52:21] Yep.

[00:52:21] Is this a good analogy?

[00:52:23] Does this make sense?

[00:52:25] Sometimes.

[00:52:25] When you're at work.

[00:52:27] Right.

[00:52:28] You don't really want it to be busy.

[00:52:30] Like.

[00:52:30] You want it to be slow.

[00:52:31] But.

[00:52:31] When it's slow.

[00:52:33] The time goes by.

[00:52:35] Super slow.

[00:52:37] However.

[00:52:38] When you're at work.

[00:52:39] And it happens to be a busy day.

[00:52:41] The time.

[00:52:42] Like.

[00:52:42] You hate that it's busy.

[00:52:44] But like.

[00:52:45] At the end of the day.

[00:52:45] It's like.

[00:52:45] Wait a minute.

[00:52:46] It's five o'clock already.

[00:52:48] See your holes.

[00:52:49] It's like.

[00:52:49] I feel like.

[00:52:50] Some part of that.

[00:52:51] Can be.

[00:52:52] Applied to like.

[00:52:53] Rachel feeling like.

[00:52:54] I always have to like.

[00:52:56] Yeah.

[00:52:57] They always coming for me.

[00:52:59] They always.

[00:53:00] I think a big thing about.

[00:53:01] Rachel's game too.

[00:53:02] Is like.

[00:53:02] And we talked about it a little bit.

[00:53:03] In the past.

[00:53:05] Is.

[00:53:05] She did get lucky.

[00:53:06] In a lot of ways.

[00:53:07] But that's part of the game.

[00:53:09] And I always felt like.

[00:53:10] Her read on things.

[00:53:11] Was always very accurate.

[00:53:12] I always felt like.

[00:53:13] Whatever was thrown her way.

[00:53:15] Whether it was something.

[00:53:15] That was lucky.

[00:53:16] Or unlucky.

[00:53:17] Or whatever.

[00:53:17] She would like.

[00:53:18] Like read and react.

[00:53:19] Very strategically.

[00:53:21] And so.

[00:53:23] I just felt like.

[00:53:24] It was really.

[00:53:25] A masterclass.

[00:53:26] Almost on new era.

[00:53:27] Survivor.

[00:53:28] Because.

[00:53:29] You know.

[00:53:30] I miss those flashy.

[00:53:31] Like.

[00:53:32] Tony.

[00:53:32] Black Coast wins.

[00:53:33] But I think in the new era.

[00:53:35] Everyone's so sharp.

[00:53:36] That.

[00:53:37] We're not going to have.

[00:53:38] Like a woo.

[00:53:39] Taking Tony to the end.

[00:53:40] And letting Tony win.

[00:53:41] It's.

[00:53:42] People always are kind of.

[00:53:43] More aware these days.

[00:53:44] Of what the.

[00:53:45] Pecking order is.

[00:53:46] And so.

[00:53:47] If you want to have.

[00:53:48] Strong game.

[00:53:49] You got to look at Rachel's.

[00:53:50] Because.

[00:53:51] She kept like a low threat level.

[00:53:53] Made some moves behind the scenes.

[00:53:54] And wasn't always being flashy.

[00:53:56] Until she had to at the end.

[00:53:57] But was just taking information.

[00:53:59] And just kind of.

[00:54:01] Moving smartly with it.

[00:54:02] And it's not going to be the flashiest.

[00:54:05] I mean.

[00:54:05] It kind of got flashy at the end.

[00:54:06] When it had to be.

[00:54:07] But.

[00:54:08] I just think that's how people.

[00:54:09] Have to position themselves.

[00:54:11] Because it's like.

[00:54:11] Like we see like.

[00:54:12] Whoever sticks their neck out.

[00:54:14] Too early.

[00:54:15] They get cut next.

[00:54:16] You know.

[00:54:17] So.

[00:54:17] Well question for you on that same.

[00:54:19] In that same breath.

[00:54:21] How important do you think it is.

[00:54:22] For someone to have voted right.

[00:54:24] Throughout the game.

[00:54:25] Because Sam makes a comment about how he never.

[00:54:28] Got a vote wrong.

[00:54:29] And how.

[00:54:30] True.

[00:54:31] I think he said something along the lines of like.

[00:54:32] Rachel never voting correctly.

[00:54:33] And I know.

[00:54:34] Like on my season.

[00:54:35] There was conversation about.

[00:54:37] You were never.

[00:54:37] You never knew what was going on.

[00:54:39] You never knew what was going on.

[00:54:40] You just kind of.

[00:54:41] Got here.

[00:54:43] Somehow.

[00:54:43] Which again.

[00:54:44] Not for Rachel.

[00:54:45] But like on my season.

[00:54:45] That was a conversation of like.

[00:54:47] You never knew what was going on.

[00:54:47] You just got here.

[00:54:48] Versus someone who voted right every time.

[00:54:50] How important do you think that is.

[00:54:52] But see.

[00:54:53] I also.

[00:54:53] Feel like that speaks to our point of.

[00:54:56] You.

[00:54:57] You're back against the wall.

[00:54:58] The whole game.

[00:54:59] Right.

[00:54:59] If you're voting correctly.

[00:55:00] The whole time.

[00:55:01] Then it means like.

[00:55:02] You just going with the numbers.

[00:55:04] I almost.

[00:55:06] And this is something.

[00:55:07] A nuance.

[00:55:07] That I don't necessarily get.

[00:55:09] The obsession with wanting.

[00:55:11] To vote right.

[00:55:12] And be on the right side of the vote.

[00:55:13] For me.

[00:55:14] My obsession would be.

[00:55:15] Maintaining relationships.

[00:55:17] Right.

[00:55:17] Like.

[00:55:17] Yeah.

[00:55:17] I might have said your name.

[00:55:18] It's an indicator of.

[00:55:20] Maintaining relationships though.

[00:55:21] Because if.

[00:55:22] You're voting right.

[00:55:23] It means they've let you in.

[00:55:24] On.

[00:55:25] The plan.

[00:55:26] And you were in on the majority.

[00:55:28] I'm not.

[00:55:28] I'm playing devil's advocate here.

[00:55:29] No.

[00:55:30] I'm not.

[00:55:30] I'm not.

[00:55:31] Making an opinion.

[00:55:32] I'm just saying.

[00:55:33] That.

[00:55:33] Do you think that.

[00:55:35] Maintaining relationships.

[00:55:36] Can be.

[00:55:37] Equivalent to voting correctly.

[00:55:39] See.

[00:55:40] I also feel like.

[00:55:40] But sometimes.

[00:55:41] In the game.

[00:55:42] Of life.

[00:55:43] Where it's like.

[00:55:44] You ever walk up to a.

[00:55:46] Let's say.

[00:55:46] Water ice.

[00:55:47] Maybe that's not a good.

[00:55:48] Like a pretzel stand.

[00:55:49] Right.

[00:55:49] And you see a long line.

[00:55:51] And you.

[00:55:51] What do you do?

[00:55:52] You automatically.

[00:55:53] Get in the long.

[00:55:54] You get behind the person.

[00:55:56] But there's three windows.

[00:55:57] Like.

[00:55:57] You don't want to.

[00:55:58] Walk up to the other window.

[00:56:00] And discover that.

[00:56:00] Like.

[00:56:00] Oh.

[00:56:01] It's open.

[00:56:09] I can have a good relationship.

[00:56:10] With you.

[00:56:10] Lauren.

[00:56:11] But.

[00:56:11] You.

[00:56:12] Won't vote me out.

[00:56:13] Because Wendell and Jack.

[00:56:14] Are saying my name.

[00:56:15] And you just want to.

[00:56:16] Like.

[00:56:16] It's that.

[00:56:17] Follow the leader type of.

[00:56:18] Yeah.

[00:56:18] Like.

[00:56:19] That's a hard indicator.

[00:56:21] At time.

[00:56:21] I agree.

[00:56:22] Because.

[00:56:23] It's great to be in on the vote.

[00:56:24] Right.

[00:56:25] But.

[00:56:26] Sometimes.

[00:56:27] I like your analogy.

[00:56:28] Bryson.

[00:56:28] To throw like a similar analogy.

[00:56:30] It's like.

[00:56:30] Okay.

[00:56:31] Maybe there's one last seat.

[00:56:32] I like the cool kids table.

[00:56:33] And you want to jump in.

[00:56:34] And be a part of that.

[00:56:36] But maybe there's another.

[00:56:37] Another smaller table.

[00:56:38] With some new people.

[00:56:39] You can jump in with it.

[00:56:40] It might not be that main group.

[00:56:41] But maybe you can make a little bit more happen.

[00:56:43] Right.

[00:56:43] Like.

[00:56:43] Sometimes.

[00:56:44] There's people in the game.

[00:56:45] Who can just get in on the vote.

[00:56:47] But if you're never.

[00:56:48] Attempting.

[00:56:49] To steer the.

[00:56:49] Steer the.

[00:56:50] Steer the vote.

[00:56:52] Drive the car.

[00:56:53] Then.

[00:56:54] Okay.

[00:56:54] You're in.

[00:56:55] Every.

[00:56:55] On everything.

[00:56:56] But what did you really like.

[00:56:57] Piece together.

[00:56:58] And with Rachel.

[00:56:59] You know.

[00:56:59] She was out of the Annika vote.

[00:57:01] That was one of the votes.

[00:57:02] Early on.

[00:57:02] Like.

[00:57:03] So be it.

[00:57:04] And then.

[00:57:04] I guess the other vote.

[00:57:05] She was out on.

[00:57:06] Was the Operation Italy vote.

[00:57:08] But it's like.

[00:57:08] At that point.

[00:57:09] She's a big threat.

[00:57:10] So there's going to be moves.

[00:57:11] Made against her.

[00:57:12] And so you can't really.

[00:57:13] Hold that against her.

[00:57:13] And then to Sam.

[00:57:14] I mean.

[00:57:14] He did a great job.

[00:57:15] Of being in on the vote.

[00:57:16] But.

[00:57:17] You know.

[00:57:18] He.

[00:57:18] He wasn't out of the Sierra vote.

[00:57:20] Because he didn't have a vote.

[00:57:21] But I think we could all say.

[00:57:22] For all intents and purposes.

[00:57:23] He wasn't.

[00:57:24] In on that vote.

[00:57:25] Right.

[00:57:25] Like the vote got split on him.

[00:57:26] He very easily could have gone home.

[00:57:28] So if you think about post merge.

[00:57:30] Incorrect votes.

[00:57:31] I'd basically say like.

[00:57:32] Sam was wrong on that one.

[00:57:34] And Rachel was wrong on like.

[00:57:35] The Operation Italy.

[00:57:37] I don't know.

[00:57:37] It's great to vote.

[00:57:38] Right.

[00:57:39] The problem is like.

[00:57:40] What I was saying with New Era.

[00:57:41] If you can't spearhead every vote.

[00:57:43] Right.

[00:57:43] So sometimes naturally.

[00:57:45] You might.

[00:57:45] Like in the olden days.

[00:57:47] Kim Spadlin could just tell her squad.

[00:57:49] Like what to do.

[00:57:49] And lead every vote.

[00:57:50] And that was really impressive.

[00:57:51] Now.

[00:57:52] If you're trying to drive.

[00:57:53] Every vote.

[00:57:54] You're going to get in trouble.

[00:57:55] So sometimes like.

[00:57:56] You might have to be on the wrong side of one.

[00:57:58] It's just like.

[00:57:59] How do you recover?

[00:58:00] And also.

[00:58:01] Like.

[00:58:01] You can get to the end of the game.

[00:58:03] By.

[00:58:04] By either.

[00:58:06] Being on the right side of the vote.

[00:58:07] And being dragged to the end.

[00:58:08] Or being.

[00:58:09] Outside the vote.

[00:58:10] And being someone that they're like.

[00:58:11] Yeah.

[00:58:11] We can sit next to this person at the end.

[00:58:13] Or.

[00:58:14] By being outside of some votes.

[00:58:16] But.

[00:58:16] So good at the game.

[00:58:18] Elusive.

[00:58:19] Strong.

[00:58:19] And.

[00:58:21] Able to win challenges.

[00:58:23] That they don't have an opportunity.

[00:58:24] To take you out.

[00:58:25] It's like.

[00:58:26] All right.

[00:58:26] This person who was my.

[00:58:28] Adversary in the game.

[00:58:29] Is a strong freaking player.

[00:58:31] And they got to the end.

[00:58:33] All right.

[00:58:33] You were out of a few votes.

[00:58:35] But you didn't give us an opportunity.

[00:58:36] To snipe you.

[00:58:38] And now you have a.

[00:58:39] A wonderful seat at the end.

[00:58:42] And.

[00:58:42] I guess another thing that makes me think about too.

[00:58:44] Lauren.

[00:58:44] I'm loving the questions.

[00:58:45] Because you.

[00:58:46] Yes.

[00:58:46] Yeah.

[00:58:48] I haven't talked Survivor in like so long.

[00:58:50] So.

[00:58:51] This is.

[00:58:51] This is fun.

[00:58:52] What I was going to say is like.

[00:58:53] Maybe.

[00:58:54] Sometimes like.

[00:58:55] Maybe not being in on the vote.

[00:58:57] Can be more impressive than being on the vote.

[00:58:59] That's what I was going to ask.

[00:59:01] Like.

[00:59:02] Okay.

[00:59:03] Maybe you weren't in on the vote.

[00:59:04] But.

[00:59:05] What you attempted to do was.

[00:59:06] Creative.

[00:59:07] Or maybe it was the right move for you.

[00:59:09] And like.

[00:59:09] Sure.

[00:59:09] It didn't work.

[00:59:10] Maybe you got blindsided.

[00:59:11] But.

[00:59:11] Your head was in the right place.

[00:59:13] Whereas.

[00:59:14] Someone might be in on the vote.

[00:59:16] Against their best interest.

[00:59:17] Just because they want to be part of.

[00:59:18] What's going on.

[00:59:19] It's like.

[00:59:19] Well actually.

[00:59:20] Maybe you should go.

[00:59:21] Branch out a little bit.

[00:59:22] And shake things up.

[00:59:23] Instead of just being in on the vote.

[00:59:25] Yeah.

[00:59:27] What stands out more.

[00:59:29] That's exactly what I was going to ask.

[00:59:30] Because Wendell said something.

[00:59:31] So interesting.

[00:59:32] He said.

[00:59:34] Well if he's beast and challenges.

[00:59:35] And they're winning all these things.

[00:59:36] And we didn't give him a chance to snipe him.

[00:59:38] Like.

[00:59:38] It shows that you place value.

[00:59:41] On winning challenges.

[00:59:42] On the physical aspect of survivor.

[00:59:46] Versus.

[00:59:46] And I'm not saying you give it more.

[00:59:48] Credit.

[00:59:49] Than not.

[00:59:49] But I think that there are some people.

[00:59:50] That wouldn't care.

[00:59:51] If you won.

[00:59:52] Every immunity challenge.

[00:59:54] Challenge.

[00:59:55] If you did X, Y, and Z better.

[00:59:57] So it's like.

[00:59:57] Is someone who.

[00:59:59] Was scrappy.

[00:59:59] And won all these immunity challenges.

[01:00:01] And was never in on the vote.

[01:00:02] And was unable to.

[01:00:03] Because.

[01:00:03] I'm not saying this is true or not.

[01:00:05] But I think you can look at it.

[01:00:06] From the perspective of.

[01:00:07] Was unable to.

[01:00:08] Strategize.

[01:00:09] And out.

[01:00:10] Outwit.

[01:00:10] Relatively.

[01:00:11] Other people.

[01:00:13] Is that more impressive.

[01:00:14] Than someone who was.

[01:00:15] Didn't win a single immunity challenge.

[01:00:17] But was able to integrate themselves.

[01:00:18] Into different alliances.

[01:00:19] And be brought in.

[01:00:20] On strategy.

[01:00:22] I don't think you can be one dimensional.

[01:00:23] And win the game.

[01:00:24] I don't think you could just be like.

[01:00:26] Great at challenges.

[01:00:27] And win the game.

[01:00:28] And we've seen it.

[01:00:28] What wasn't it like.

[01:00:29] Culpepper.

[01:00:30] Didn't he win like a bunch of challenges.

[01:00:31] And not win or something.

[01:00:33] In Rachel's case.

[01:00:35] Like.

[01:00:35] She.

[01:00:35] She found stuff.

[01:00:36] She.

[01:00:37] She made.

[01:00:37] Made things happen.

[01:00:39] Right.

[01:00:39] But.

[01:00:39] But yeah.

[01:00:40] I.

[01:00:40] I don't think.

[01:00:41] One dimensional players can win.

[01:00:43] Or.

[01:00:44] Yeah.

[01:00:45] I'm very much on the.

[01:00:47] Anti challenge.

[01:00:48] Train.

[01:00:49] Of.

[01:00:50] If you.

[01:00:50] If you have to win all these challenges.

[01:00:53] Then.

[01:00:54] Like.

[01:00:55] Clearly you're not in a very good social spot in the game.

[01:00:57] And like.

[01:00:57] And if you don't have to win.

[01:00:59] I guess when I respect them the most.

[01:01:00] And that goes.

[01:01:01] Then that's kind of what Rachel had to do though.

[01:01:03] Kind of.

[01:01:04] But it's like at that point.

[01:01:05] When she has to do it late.

[01:01:06] Eight.

[01:01:06] And it's like the final six.

[01:01:08] You know.

[01:01:09] I can respect that a little bit more.

[01:01:10] But if you're doing it early on.

[01:01:11] Then it's just like.

[01:01:12] All right.

[01:01:13] Like.

[01:01:13] If you win them at the end.

[01:01:14] And you're the biggest threat.

[01:01:15] And that gets you to the end.

[01:01:16] I can respect it.

[01:01:17] Kind of like what.

[01:01:18] Nick Wilson did.

[01:01:19] David versus Goliath.

[01:01:20] Like.

[01:01:21] He wasn't a challenge piece.

[01:01:22] But at the end.

[01:01:22] He got in the right spot.

[01:01:24] Won out.

[01:01:24] The thing to me is.

[01:01:25] Using those challenge wins.

[01:01:27] To.

[01:01:29] If I was a juror.

[01:01:30] The thing that I value the most.

[01:01:31] Is.

[01:01:31] Having.

[01:01:32] Great social relationships.

[01:01:34] And utilizing those to have strategic agency.

[01:01:36] And so if you're winning.

[01:01:38] Immunity challenge.

[01:01:39] I would actually expect you.

[01:01:40] Because you're not vulnerable.

[01:01:42] That you should actually have more agency.

[01:01:43] So a lot of times.

[01:01:44] There's people that win a lot.

[01:01:45] But aren't really playing the game.

[01:01:47] In any more.

[01:01:48] In a stronger way than anybody else.

[01:01:50] So I'm sort of like.

[01:01:50] Well if you're winning.

[01:01:51] But you're not utilizing your safety.

[01:01:53] To make things happen.

[01:01:55] Then you're actually kind of a worse player.

[01:01:57] In my mind.

[01:01:58] I know that might be.

[01:01:59] I know.

[01:02:04] I don't know.

[01:02:04] I want to ask y'all a question.

[01:02:05] Because I love the question.

[01:02:05] I know.

[01:02:06] I'm so interested.

[01:02:07] No.

[01:02:07] No.

[01:02:08] Wait.

[01:02:08] So in that same line of thought.

[01:02:11] Can I ask y'all.

[01:02:12] What y'all think about.

[01:02:13] Mike Holloway's win.

[01:02:14] Because I felt like.

[01:02:16] Mike Holloway is a winner.

[01:02:17] That I feel like.

[01:02:19] Had to.

[01:02:20] And I don't want to say.

[01:02:21] One dimensional.

[01:02:22] But I want to say like.

[01:02:23] I feel like.

[01:02:23] Mike Holloway.

[01:02:25] Won his way.

[01:02:27] To a million dollars.

[01:02:28] What season was that?

[01:02:29] Correct.

[01:02:34] Season 20.

[01:02:35] 31 or 30.

[01:02:36] Right.

[01:02:37] Right.

[01:02:38] Well.

[01:02:38] He brought Mike Holloway up.

[01:02:40] Last night.

[01:02:42] Yeah.

[01:02:42] Andy and Rachel were saying.

[01:02:44] That his win was not very good.

[01:02:45] And I would tend to agree.

[01:02:47] Like.

[01:02:47] I think.

[01:02:48] Mama C.

[01:02:48] Was a better.

[01:02:50] Survivor player.

[01:02:51] Than Mike Holloway.

[01:02:52] I'm going to go with Will.

[01:02:53] But sometimes that's the spectacle.

[01:02:54] Of like.

[01:02:55] Oh.

[01:02:55] Winning all these challenges.

[01:02:57] Like.

[01:02:57] Some people are impressed by that.

[01:02:59] But I think.

[01:02:59] Especially in the new era.

[01:03:00] I would guess the thinking.

[01:03:02] Like.

[01:03:02] I would.

[01:03:02] I think.

[01:03:03] Mama C.

[01:03:03] Would probably win.

[01:03:05] That final three.

[01:03:06] More in the new era.

[01:03:07] Than.

[01:03:07] Yeah baby.

[01:03:09] Yeah baby.

[01:03:09] Especially.

[01:03:10] Especially season 30.

[01:03:11] There was some.

[01:03:12] Some.

[01:03:13] Characters.

[01:03:14] Especially you know.

[01:03:15] Like.

[01:03:15] Literally one of the times.

[01:03:16] Blue collar.

[01:03:17] They're going to.

[01:03:18] They're going to respect Mike.

[01:03:19] Just winning his way.

[01:03:20] Right.

[01:03:21] But.

[01:03:22] In the.

[01:03:22] In the.

[01:03:23] Like.

[01:03:23] I think now.

[01:03:24] That would be valued.

[01:03:25] A little bit less.

[01:03:25] Because he was also just messy.

[01:03:27] Right.

[01:03:28] Can I.

[01:03:29] Can we talk about.

[01:03:30] Some emotional points.

[01:03:31] Of this episode.

[01:03:32] So.

[01:03:32] There were two things.

[01:03:33] That stuck with me.

[01:03:35] And.

[01:03:36] Well I guess I'll go with Rachel first.

[01:03:38] But make sure I get back to my second.

[01:03:39] Other emotional one.

[01:03:41] There was something about Rachel.

[01:03:43] Bringing up.

[01:03:44] Chrissy Hoffman.

[01:03:46] Kim.

[01:03:47] Y'all know I say the names wrong.

[01:03:49] Because I was about to say.

[01:03:50] Kim Spradlin.

[01:03:52] And her naming these.

[01:03:56] Trail blazing.

[01:03:57] Women.

[01:03:59] Leaders.

[01:04:00] In Survivor.

[01:04:01] That.

[01:04:02] I just.

[01:04:04] Even though I can't say they.

[01:04:05] Last names correctly.

[01:04:07] I loved.

[01:04:07] And I respect.

[01:04:08] And it's like.

[01:04:09] You know.

[01:04:09] Not only has Rachel.

[01:04:10] Played an amazing.

[01:04:12] An amazing game.

[01:04:14] She knows her history.

[01:04:15] She knows like.

[01:04:17] The trail blazing.

[01:04:19] Ladies.

[01:04:19] That have come before her.

[01:04:21] What were your thoughts on her.

[01:04:22] Bringing that up.

[01:04:23] In this last episode.

[01:04:27] I mean.

[01:04:28] It's cool to be.

[01:04:28] A part of history.

[01:04:31] What interested me.

[01:04:33] And not to spin your.

[01:04:34] Your question too.

[01:04:35] Was.

[01:04:36] Jeff was also.

[01:04:37] Really hyping her up for that.

[01:04:39] Which.

[01:04:40] I'm curious.

[01:04:40] It's a very small question.

[01:04:41] But I'm sort of like.

[01:04:43] Obviously you want to give someone.

[01:04:44] Their flowers for being in the record books.

[01:04:46] But at the same time.

[01:04:47] Was Jeff just like.

[01:04:49] Kind of hyping her up too much.

[01:04:51] Right.

[01:04:51] If I'm Sam.

[01:04:52] And I'm sitting there.

[01:04:52] I'm like.

[01:04:53] Jeff.

[01:04:54] Chill with this.

[01:04:55] Don't give her too much credit.

[01:04:58] Yeah.

[01:04:58] Is he still.

[01:04:59] Is he remaining neutral.

[01:05:02] Exactly.

[01:05:03] Exactly.

[01:05:05] Yeah.

[01:05:06] What you think Lauren.

[01:05:08] I love any time that.

[01:05:10] We get to reference.

[01:05:12] Female survivor players that.

[01:05:15] Have done something so incredible.

[01:05:17] Because.

[01:05:18] Having never won an immunity challenge in my life.

[01:05:21] Can confirm.

[01:05:23] That they are difficult.

[01:05:25] Never won a puzzle like.

[01:05:27] They're hard.

[01:05:28] And I think that the fact that she can win four.

[01:05:31] Is.

[01:05:32] Right.

[01:05:32] Four.

[01:05:33] Right.

[01:05:33] Is.

[01:05:35] Such a huge feat.

[01:05:36] And I think that it deserves to be celebrated.

[01:05:38] I see what you're saying.

[01:05:40] Jack.

[01:05:40] And.

[01:05:41] Was.

[01:05:42] He hyping her up too much.

[01:05:44] Maybe.

[01:05:44] But.

[01:05:45] When was the last.

[01:05:46] Person that did that.

[01:05:48] Yeah.

[01:05:50] How many seasons was that ago?

[01:05:51] I mean.

[01:05:57] Of.

[01:05:57] Female player.

[01:05:59] When four immunity challenges.

[01:06:02] Is.

[01:06:02] It.

[01:06:03] It's a huge deal.

[01:06:04] And I think that.

[01:06:05] Have.

[01:06:06] And you're exhausted.

[01:06:07] You're tired.

[01:06:07] And I think that there is an emotional.

[01:06:08] An emotional strain.

[01:06:10] Of.

[01:06:11] Being on the bottom.

[01:06:12] Having to fight your way.

[01:06:14] To every single day.

[01:06:15] That she was also wearing.

[01:06:17] Mentally.

[01:06:18] Emotionally.

[01:06:18] Physically.

[01:06:19] As well.

[01:06:20] That goes into those wins.

[01:06:21] Being even more impressive.

[01:06:23] I love a flashback.

[01:06:25] Famously.

[01:06:26] And.

[01:06:27] I think that anytime.

[01:06:28] A survivor player.

[01:06:29] Shows us.

[01:06:30] That they're a fan of the game.

[01:06:31] And that they love the game.

[01:06:32] And that they.

[01:06:33] Like you said.

[01:06:33] Know their history.

[01:06:35] It makes.

[01:06:36] To me.

[01:06:37] It makes.

[01:06:38] You feel like.

[01:06:40] Yeah.

[01:06:40] This is a family.

[01:06:41] Like yeah.

[01:06:42] These people love this show.

[01:06:43] As much as I do.

[01:06:43] Yeah.

[01:06:44] I do remember when that happened.

[01:06:45] And I also think.

[01:06:46] I don't think she was thinking about this.

[01:06:48] But I do think the editors were.

[01:06:49] When they did it.

[01:06:50] I think they were.

[01:06:51] Allowing us to.

[01:06:54] Connect emotionally.

[01:06:55] And.

[01:06:56] Look at.

[01:06:57] Rachel.

[01:06:57] Like we looked at those three women.

[01:06:59] And be like.

[01:07:00] Oh man.

[01:07:00] Those three women were badass.

[01:07:02] Immediately.

[01:07:03] You're.

[01:07:04] Thinking.

[01:07:04] Oh.

[01:07:04] Well Rachel is too.

[01:07:05] You put her in that same bucket.

[01:07:06] So I think that there was.

[01:07:07] Some strategic.

[01:07:08] Production from that.

[01:07:09] Not that it wasn't warranted.

[01:07:10] I just think that.

[01:07:12] I loved it.

[01:07:13] So.

[01:07:14] Yeah.

[01:07:14] I loved it too.

[01:07:15] I'm just waiting for the day that.

[01:07:18] Somebody referenced me.

[01:07:19] And I can get a flashback.

[01:07:21] Just so you know.

[01:07:22] That would make my day.

[01:07:23] However.

[01:07:24] I'm not to my second emotional point yet.

[01:07:27] But I do just also want to say that.

[01:07:29] You know.

[01:07:30] I was talking to someone at one of our parties.

[01:07:32] And they were like.

[01:07:33] Oh.

[01:07:33] You're old school Bryce.

[01:07:34] I said.

[01:07:35] I said.

[01:07:35] Don't.

[01:07:36] Don't.

[01:07:36] Disrespect your grandmother's mother like that.

[01:07:39] I am not old school.

[01:07:40] I am considered new school.

[01:07:42] So we can be clear.

[01:07:44] There are 47 seasons of Survivor.

[01:07:46] I want to say that.

[01:07:47] One through 25.

[01:07:49] Is considered old school.

[01:07:51] 26 through.

[01:07:53] 40.

[01:07:55] 40.

[01:07:56] Is considered new school.

[01:07:57] And now we're in the new era.

[01:07:58] Just so we can clear that up to somebody.

[01:08:00] However.

[01:08:01] I just.

[01:08:02] I really do love the new era because I think that our diversity initiative that we helped spearhead really has been shining.

[01:08:13] And when I got to thinking a little bit like there's been such a long time as Survivor where there have been a man, a man, a man, a man, a man, a man winner.

[01:08:26] Then we get a woman winner for us to have three seasons and three great seasons, in my opinion, back to back and to have a D to have a Kenzie and to have a Rachel winner winners back to back.

[01:08:39] It just really makes me love the new era. And I think that like I just love it.

[01:08:48] I think I think I'm sorry to cut you off. I think Tegwith might have came to us last night and said it's like a renaissance.

[01:08:54] This this like new I guess the new era is kind of like a renaissance.

[01:09:00] And we're getting like a different style of winner. We're getting a lot of women winners.

[01:09:05] It's great to see. And like I think it's great for them to celebrate, like especially a Rachel who is.

[01:09:11] She played a tough game, like a great game and won all them challenges and for them to compare her to like a Kim Spradlin, like.

[01:09:21] Reminding us that we just we just saw someone that should be on that echelon of win of game.

[01:09:29] I think I think the new era is really cool because we've seen so many different new winners, to your point.

[01:09:36] I agree. How much of us having three winners in a row do you think is indicative of the social climate?

[01:09:43] Because I would say that Survivor does tend to be this kind of look into what's going on in the real world.

[01:09:53] Right. That's the whole idea of the game. And so I would say historically women are viewed as.

[01:10:02] Providers were viewed as nurturers. We have been viewed as softer than men.

[01:10:08] So when we take on a role that is more masculine, when we take on a role that's more masculine, it can be viewed as a threat, not as something that is.

[01:10:20] It's praised and could be why women in the past may have played a similar game to women now, but have not gotten the reaction that we may have looking back on it, thought they deserved.

[01:10:36] Versus now we have women who maybe are taking on that kind of I'm going to attack this game.

[01:10:42] I'm going to I'm not going to sit back, not that women do, but just in general, they're going to play that more aggressive game and they are rewarded for it.

[01:10:51] I think that that's a very good comment. I also think that equity comes into play. Right.

[01:10:55] I think that when you look at past seasons, you have to think of the different makeups of the different people that have played the game.

[01:11:03] And I think that now that we get a more diverse season with diversity comes different things of people's backgrounds and people's values and how people see other people.

[01:11:13] And I think that that plays a huge part into where we are today and why we are seeing more women winners, because it's when you cast the same, same, same, same, same, you get similar results.

[01:11:27] But when you cast different people with different value system, different classes, different everything, it's not.

[01:11:38] The standard belief of what.

[01:11:43] People think society is.

[01:11:46] Yeah, you're right. And you'll have different outcomes with different input inputs come different outcomes.

[01:11:51] And what what I thought was really cool this season.

[01:11:54] And like, I guess we're in the era where you could see these like badass women competing and getting respect for playing hard games.

[01:12:01] Like like when I when I think of a like a badass female player, I think of like Sarah Lucina.

[01:12:09] She was like so strong, so tough, so harsh.

[01:12:13] Like she is.

[01:12:16] One of the goats, of course.

[01:12:17] And this season we saw Genevieve and we saw Rachel.

[01:12:23] And these were like the two strongest players on the island.

[01:12:26] And I'm like, man, I would love to see both of them at the end.

[01:12:29] But just watching these two women and like that are the strongest players on the island.

[01:12:36] But then also how I think we watched Genevieve babysitting Rachel while she was looking for an idol or vice versa or something like that.

[01:12:44] And now that we're watching these two unique players do it, it's different than a Rome and a Saul.

[01:12:51] Because like, you know, Rome was almost like bullying Saul.

[01:12:54] But in this case, watching two women do it is a little different because it's like they're they're almost joking with each other.

[01:13:03] They have this mutual respect for each other.

[01:13:05] But they're the best players and the like, I guess, like the most vicious players remaining in the game.

[01:13:11] And I think for the edit to portray it that way, I think it's good.

[01:13:15] I think it's pretty progressive because now we're seeing and we're giving flowers to these women who.

[01:13:21] Like you said, historically, it's like, oh, they should have a different role in the game or should play a softer game or whatever.

[01:13:28] Now, this is survivor.

[01:13:29] Everyone should compete hard.

[01:13:31] And whether you're a woman or a man competing hard, you should be able to you should just be judged for how you're competing.

[01:13:37] So I like I like that direction of the game.

[01:13:41] And I like that women can go out there and unapologetically just play hard and get rewarded for that as opposed to look at as whatever kind of a woman, you know?

[01:13:52] Something that I'm really curious to see as we go forward is how I think the new modern archetype of the winner of Survivor has shifted.

[01:14:03] Right. I mean, five of the seven New Era winners have been women.

[01:14:07] I'd say four of those played a very sort of a little bit more stealthy, social, strategic game.

[01:14:15] Whereas in the 30s, we had a string of winners.

[01:14:18] It was Ben, Wendell, Nick, Chris, Tommy, kind of a similar archetype.

[01:14:25] Right. And so now I feel like we see maybe like someone like Sam who might not be doing it like at certain points post-merge wasn't in the driver's seat yet was still seen as a threat.

[01:14:36] I think sort of as a after effect of that sort of string of winners.

[01:14:41] So now it's like when you have a deal.

[01:14:43] Do you think Sam is being punished for that?

[01:14:44] I don't think punished, but I think.

[01:14:46] Subconsciously?

[01:14:47] People subconsciously view, like think about historically a big sort of charismatic alpha guy is the kind of win survivor.

[01:14:55] But now it's like, OK, you look at the string of like D, Kenzie, Rachel.

[01:15:00] Now, if I go out there, I'm not going to be scared of a Sam.

[01:15:03] I'm going to be scared of like that really sharp, intelligent, lower key sort of woman.

[01:15:08] So I wonder going forward if are people now going to view that archetype and be like, that's the biggest threat.

[01:15:14] And then maybe we're back in a world where like the brawny guys are like, oh, that's what I meant.

[01:15:20] Yeah, that's what I meant.

[01:15:22] Or will we be in a world where the gays take over, right?

[01:15:27] Because can we get some gay back to back winners?

[01:15:29] And and that's a great point, Jack.

[01:15:32] But it also brings me to my next emotional point that I just want to bring up.

[01:15:37] I want to talk about Teenie for a second, right?

[01:15:39] Because I feel like Teenie has been y'all the way y'all been treating Teenie on the Internet.

[01:15:45] F y'all because one Teenie.

[01:15:47] Has it been bad?

[01:15:48] Like, I just feel like people have I think people went from loving Teenie was so.

[01:15:53] Like, love.

[01:15:55] They're amazing.

[01:15:56] Yeah.

[01:15:56] And I also feel like maybe people haven't understood their ending.

[01:16:01] Right.

[01:16:01] And I think that like they don't agree with some of like Teenie's takes.

[01:16:05] But I just I have to say that Teenie being a member of the LGBTQ plus community, someone that is like we said earlier, Lauren, they're young.

[01:16:16] They're still growing.

[01:16:17] They're figuring out their identity.

[01:16:19] They're a baby in my eyes.

[01:16:21] Right.

[01:16:21] And me as a still very young, young gay black man that has had to figure out my identity in this world, in my place.

[01:16:32] Right.

[01:16:33] Teenie that's on their own journey of figuring out their identity and being out there with someone that might trigger you personally.

[01:16:46] It is self-awareness.

[01:16:48] Right.

[01:16:48] To be able to say that.

[01:16:49] Right.

[01:16:50] Right.

[01:16:50] I was just so impressed.

[01:16:52] And I met Teenie last night just immediately.

[01:16:56] Exactly the way that they are portrayed on screen is just exactly how they were towards me.

[01:17:02] Just so loving, so open.

[01:17:04] But to be able to say that with the to be able to articulate that concisely.

[01:17:12] So authentically on day, whatever day it was at 23.

[01:17:18] I agree.

[01:17:19] So freaking impressive, regardless of anything else that happened on the show.

[01:17:25] I think.

[01:17:26] I couldn't agree more.

[01:17:29] For me, I just love it.

[01:17:30] And it's like, I just, for me, I just love it.

[01:17:43] But that is Teenie's lived experience.

[01:17:46] And I appreciate Teenie for being so open and honest.

[01:17:50] And I appreciate the editors for sharing that because I felt like I can't relate.

[01:17:55] However, I can relate in my own situation and my own life.

[01:18:00] And I just was, it was really good to see that on Survivor.

[01:18:03] So much love to Teenie.

[01:18:04] The part where they said he was the guy that was asked to move the desks.

[01:18:08] And I always wanted to do that.

[01:18:10] The story, the storytelling there, the vision there.

[01:18:14] Just, I was so, so, so, so, so impressed with them in that, in this episode, because of the self-awareness.

[01:18:21] And because of the authenticity and the vulnerability, I was like, oh my, yeah, he probably was asked to move the desks.

[01:18:29] We should ask other people to move the desks now.

[01:18:31] Like, what the heck?

[01:18:32] It just, it makes you rally behind them.

[01:18:35] It really does.

[01:18:36] Because it's like, don't ask me.

[01:18:38] Okay.

[01:18:39] I don't want to move the desks.

[01:18:40] I personally don't want to have to do any physical labor.

[01:18:43] But like, if you want to, I'm here for you.

[01:18:45] You do that.

[01:18:46] And so I just feel like that wasn't, sometimes people don't focus on things like that.

[01:18:52] And that might have been very small to someone else.

[01:18:54] But I think that that was huge for our community and at large.

[01:19:01] And so I was just very appreciative to have a Teenie storyline.

[01:19:04] And although I might not agree with all their moves, I think for me, putting myself in their place, I'm like, I get you and I see you.

[01:19:12] Yeah.

[01:19:13] I mean, just in general, it's very, like you said, the self-awareness to just be like, maybe I'm not having a great relationship with this person.

[01:19:20] But it's all these things from my past that are maybe influencing that.

[01:19:24] It's not their fault, but it's just like things I need to work on.

[01:19:26] I think anyone can relate to that just in their own personal life of, you know, being self-aware and using that in your relationship.

[01:19:35] So that was very impressive.

[01:19:36] And yeah, the analogy with the desks was also hilarious.

[01:19:40] We just need to get Teenie, like, a construction job and just let Teenie, like, go swing a sledgehammer.

[01:19:49] We have as many desks as you want.

[01:19:51] I think everybody wins.

[01:19:53] Like, Teenie will be happy and some houses will get built.

[01:19:58] Yes.

[01:19:59] But ultimately, I can't.

[01:20:02] Well, and I guess here's another thing.

[01:20:04] Shout out to Sue, right?

[01:20:05] I think that Sue played a great game, right?

[01:20:10] Maybe it wasn't a winning game.

[01:20:12] And I've said this multiple times on this podcast that, like, in the Survivor community, we place too much emphasis on the winner, right?

[01:20:22] Like, because that's all that matters.

[01:20:23] Sometimes on a season, all you talk about is the winner.

[01:20:26] But I personally feel like...

[01:20:28] I honestly feel like we should never talk about the winners.

[01:20:31] I mean, I just...

[01:20:32] I don't know.

[01:20:34] Because...

[01:20:34] The people voted out on day nine and the people voted out...

[01:20:37] Like, May 5th should probably be talked about more.

[01:20:39] I mean, I don't know.

[01:20:40] Because Dominic Abante isn't talked about enough for me.

[01:20:44] But that's just, you know, whatever.

[01:20:47] However, I really do feel that, like, sometimes the third...

[01:20:51] No, and actually, I take back ever saying that I feel bad because you literally have an entire montage of your face behind you.

[01:20:56] I don't go bad.

[01:20:57] I will legitimately pile this on as much as I want.

[01:21:03] Well, I mean, here's the thing.

[01:21:05] You're ragging on Wendell, but, you know, we all know he was rooting for his wifey Sue to take on the million bucks.

[01:21:11] So, if there's anyone who's more upset, it's Wendell.

[01:21:16] And so, I just want to say, if you make it to the end, you make it to the merge.

[01:21:21] Like, in some people's eyes, that is winning.

[01:21:24] And I feel like Sue played a loyal game.

[01:21:27] Sue, you cross Sue.

[01:21:29] She hated you.

[01:21:30] And she was going to do her best to get you out.

[01:21:32] And I respect stuff like that.

[01:21:34] Because it's like, you got one time with me.

[01:21:37] Well, here's the thing.

[01:21:37] When Sue comes back for 50, everyone's going to know how loyal Sue is.

[01:21:41] And that's going to allow Sue to actually mix it up a little bit more and take on the two million.

[01:21:45] Jack, the real question is, when Sue comes back for 50, and they do the loved ones visit...

[01:21:52] Well, Wendell will be there, too.

[01:21:54] Is Wendell, are you going out for the loved ones visit with Sue?

[01:21:57] We already had that conversation.

[01:21:59] They don't do the loved ones visit anymore, though, right?

[01:22:02] They're going to do it for 50.

[01:22:03] You're right.

[01:22:04] Yeah.

[01:22:05] All right, so I got...

[01:22:05] How long do I got to start dating somewhere on 50?

[01:22:08] I'm trying to make an appearance.

[01:22:13] Jack, you're single, right?

[01:22:15] I don't think I'm going to be on 50, though.

[01:22:19] They said fans versus neighbors.

[01:22:21] We'll see.

[01:22:24] Guys, what do we think about Sue's final tribal council?

[01:22:26] I mean, she was dropping bombs left and right.

[01:22:28] It was her birthday, and she's 59?

[01:22:31] How did she know?

[01:22:32] If she had told me it was her birthday and I was on that trip, I would have given her my vote.

[01:22:35] I love a birthday.

[01:22:36] Yeah.

[01:22:36] Same.

[01:22:37] I think I was...

[01:22:38] If I'm being honest, because I try to keep it real on the Survivor News Purple Pants podcast,

[01:22:43] I was shocked to see Caroline didn't vote for Rachel.

[01:22:48] I just knew Caroline would vote for Rachel.

[01:22:51] Wait, Caroline...

[01:22:52] For Sue?

[01:22:53] You did.

[01:22:53] I mean, for Sue.

[01:22:54] Sorry.

[01:22:55] Sorry.

[01:22:55] Okay, I was like...

[01:22:56] Yeah.

[01:22:57] I was like, I just knew Caroline would vote for Sue.

[01:23:01] I was...

[01:23:02] That shocked me a little bit.

[01:23:04] So how much do you really think that loyalty is valued?

[01:23:07] By the jury at the end of the day.

[01:23:09] It's true.

[01:23:12] That's...

[01:23:12] Because I...

[01:23:14] I don't know.

[01:23:15] I haven't flushed it out in my head exactly how I feel about it, but I think that you will

[01:23:20] get more respect for making the big move that might...

[01:23:25] That turns against your alliance versus staying with your alliance at your own demise.

[01:23:30] Yeah.

[01:23:31] Whether or not you're sitting at the end or not.

[01:23:33] True.

[01:23:34] Do you vote for Sue?

[01:23:35] Unless you get a really special jury.

[01:23:37] I don't know.

[01:23:38] Do you vote for your...

[01:23:40] Do you vote for the best player?

[01:23:41] The player who played the best game?

[01:23:43] Or do you vote for your friend?

[01:23:44] You get to vote for whoever you want.

[01:23:46] Exactly.

[01:23:47] That was my dilemma on winners at war.

[01:23:49] I was like...

[01:23:50] I was like, Michelle is sitting right there and she's my friend.

[01:23:53] Tony is the best sitting there.

[01:23:57] And then with the whole discourse on the edge of extinction.

[01:24:01] And then back at Ponderosa, people weren't completely sharing who they were voting for.

[01:24:07] And I had my little crew.

[01:24:09] We were ready to vote for Michelle to make sure she got second.

[01:24:13] And then...

[01:24:14] Yeah.

[01:24:15] You didn't know if Natalie...

[01:24:16] We didn't want Tony to lose.

[01:24:18] So I'm like, I got to vote for Tony because he is...

[01:24:21] Did you vote for Tony?

[01:24:23] Yeah.

[01:24:23] I had...

[01:24:24] Yeah.

[01:24:24] I was like...

[01:24:25] And I think in my voting confessional, I wrote down...

[01:24:27] I wrote his name down and I said like, hey Michelle, if you weren't sitting next to

[01:24:30] Tony right now, you would have my vote.

[01:24:32] Yeah.

[01:24:33] It's sort of like...

[01:24:34] Not to...

[01:24:35] Not even...

[01:24:35] It's sort of like American politics where you might want to vote for a third party candidate,

[01:24:40] but you're like, well, they might not be able to win.

[01:24:42] So I got to make sure my vote counts.

[01:24:44] Yeah.

[01:24:45] I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but...

[01:24:48] But to that point, I want to...

[01:24:50] Pardon me.

[01:24:51] I want to...

[01:24:51] It seems like Kyle maybe voted for Sam just to spite Sue and make sure she was third and

[01:24:56] not second.

[01:24:57] So Kyle, big revenge from Kyle.

[01:25:01] Do you think the majority of jurors vote for the best player?

[01:25:05] Actually, I have a different take on that.

[01:25:08] How much of the jury's vote or a juror's vote do you think is based on their personal

[01:25:17] experience and who they feel like game qualifies their own the best?

[01:25:23] And the reason I say that is from my season.

[01:25:26] I think that in order for my jurors to have voted for Gavin, they would have felt...

[01:25:35] And I'm not saying this is true or not, but I think it's possible that if they had voted

[01:25:41] for Gavin, who had never been on the edge of extinction, that it would have invalidated

[01:25:45] their entire game because they would have been saying, regardless of what Chris has done,

[01:25:50] he did not play the game.

[01:25:53] Whatever you want to say, he did not play the game.

[01:25:56] And therefore, in turn, they didn't play the game either.

[01:26:01] Yeah.

[01:26:02] Agree.

[01:26:02] Yeah.

[01:26:03] Because if when Chris gets back and he does everything right from that point on, if you

[01:26:08] then if you were on the edge of extinction and then don't vote for him, then you're sort

[01:26:12] of saying, well, if I had come back and done everything right, then I wouldn't have voted

[01:26:16] for you.

[01:26:16] It doesn't matter because...

[01:26:17] Your case is very unique, but I do...

[01:26:20] No, I know.

[01:26:20] I know.

[01:26:21] But I think that it can...

[01:26:22] I think that it applies to a lot of seasons as well, is that you're sitting there as a juror

[01:26:27] whosever game resonates with you the most.

[01:26:30] And I think that that oftentimes is based on your own personal experience and your own

[01:26:33] personal values.

[01:26:34] Like if someone was sitting on the jurors who was like, I was loyal to my alliance till

[01:26:39] the death.

[01:26:39] I would have died for my alliance.

[01:26:41] I think they would have valued Sue's final tribal council speech.

[01:26:44] I think that there's a possibility.

[01:26:46] I'm not saying all the time, but there's a possibility that you take your own personal

[01:26:50] biases, your own value of what you think matters the most in order to maybe subconsciously

[01:26:55] validate your own game.

[01:26:57] Most definitely.

[01:26:58] Do you think if when you get voted off, you're sequestered like we were sequestered in the

[01:27:04] beginning of the season and we only sat at...

[01:27:08] Like we could see the tribals, but we were sequestered and we only got to speak at that

[01:27:14] final tribal council.

[01:27:15] Do you think that a lot of winners would be different?

[01:27:19] I don't know if the...

[01:27:20] So I don't necessarily know if the winners would be different, but I do think there would

[01:27:24] be a much wider spread of votes.

[01:27:26] It's like much fewer near unanimous votes, right?

[01:27:30] Because I think there's a lot of groupthink that occurs at Ponderosa.

[01:27:34] I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing because you're listening to other people's

[01:27:38] arguments as to why.

[01:27:39] So who should win?

[01:27:40] And you're taking other opinions into account.

[01:27:43] And then people sort of started to come to a consensus.

[01:27:47] But at the same time, it's sort of like...

[01:27:49] I'm sure a lot of jurors still kind of have their mind in the game, almost of like, I want

[01:27:54] to be in the majority here.

[01:27:55] Right?

[01:27:56] I think there's almost a stigma of like, if I don't vote for the winner, I'm going to

[01:28:00] look like I made a wrong decision.

[01:28:02] When in reality, it's like, just vote for who you ever want to vote.

[01:28:05] That's kind of like...

[01:28:06] I respect like James Jones, for instance, voted for Cassie.

[01:28:09] Oh, Cassie.

[01:28:09] He thought Cassie should have won.

[01:28:11] And like, he wasn't in the majority, but he had his own criteria and stuck to it.

[01:28:14] So last Lauren question, do you think that the jurors...

[01:28:21] First of all, shout out to Lauren, because now you got me thinking all these crazy...

[01:28:25] Like, I love this.

[01:28:26] Do y'all think...

[01:28:28] And I've never really thought about this.

[01:28:30] Like, in that same topic of being on the right side of the votes, do you think jurors

[01:28:36] think that way too, even with their final vote?

[01:28:38] Well, how much conversation was happening for you, Wendell, during Winners at War?

[01:28:45] For, like, before your final vote, how much were the jurors talking to each other?

[01:28:50] Because in order to answer your question, Bryce, I think...

[01:28:52] And I feel like I can't give a full answer because my jurors were hanging out together

[01:28:58] on Edge of Extinction for 30 days or whatever it was.

[01:29:01] And then I was only there for a day.

[01:29:04] Wait, so you was only there for a day?

[01:29:07] I was only there for a day.

[01:29:09] Do you know how...

[01:29:09] A day and a half.

[01:29:11] How long was...

[01:29:12] No, because that's a great question.

[01:29:14] I'm trying to figure out.

[01:29:15] But how long was Wendell...

[01:29:18] How long was he there with Ted?

[01:29:19] No, no, because I'm just trying...

[01:29:21] I don't know.

[01:29:21] When he got there, he was a million dollars richer than me, though, so...

[01:29:24] Okay.

[01:29:25] Now let me...

[01:29:27] Oh, shoot.

[01:29:27] Now I'm seeing the montage behind his head.

[01:29:29] I take it back.

[01:29:29] Okay, so it's crazy because I got there to the edge of Extinction with these beautiful

[01:29:37] people.

[01:29:39] I got there after the merge.

[01:29:42] And that's crazy because Bryce doesn't even know what a merge is.

[01:29:44] But so after the merge, I went to the edge of Extinction.

[01:29:47] I was there for like...

[01:29:48] How was that?

[01:29:48] I've never been there.

[01:29:49] Yeah.

[01:29:52] You pulled a picture of yourself off your wall.

[01:30:01] You knew it was coming.

[01:30:03] So after the merge, I got to the edge of Extinction.

[01:30:08] I was there for like two weeks.

[01:30:09] And that was me on an island for like two weeks.

[01:30:11] It's crazy because Bryce wasn't even on the island for two weeks.

[01:30:13] So I was on the edge of Extinction for longer than he was even on the island.

[01:30:17] And...

[01:30:18] I was riding elephants back in the Philippines.

[01:30:21] Okay.

[01:30:21] I was drinking margaritas in Manila.

[01:30:25] Okay.

[01:30:25] I was enjoying myself.

[01:30:26] I'm going to be so honest.

[01:30:28] I forgot that you guys said edge of Extinction on your season.

[01:30:31] So maybe my question isn't as valid as it's proven.

[01:30:36] Yeah.

[01:30:37] On winners at war, we were on the edge until like three days before the end of the game.

[01:30:44] And so when we got back to Conderosa, there were some talks.

[01:30:48] But then like, again, a lot of these damn winners, they wouldn't share...

[01:30:53] Like certain people wouldn't share stuff.

[01:30:55] And so now it's just like, all right, you guys got...

[01:30:59] I don't know if y'all got side deals or what y'all got, but...

[01:31:02] Yeah.

[01:31:02] Were you trying to get stuff out of people though?

[01:31:05] I mean, my roommates are Jeremy and Tyson.

[01:31:10] And they weren't talking to you.

[01:31:18] Wendell said, who do you guys think about voting for?

[01:31:20] And Jeremy said, don't worry about it, little brother.

[01:31:24] They blame me.

[01:31:26] I'm so mad.

[01:31:29] It's the stuff that you reveal when you don't mean to reveal it.

[01:31:32] Oh my God.

[01:31:35] Quick take on winners at war because it was a conversation that I had with a few people.

[01:31:43] Because I feel like that there's a possibility that our jurors voted for Chris because they

[01:31:47] experienced...

[01:31:48] They had the same experience that Chris did, right?

[01:31:49] So they saw Chris's game versus like, I didn't vote for Chris.

[01:31:52] I voted for Gavin because I saw Gavin's game, right?

[01:31:54] Not discrediting Chris's win whatsoever.

[01:31:55] It's just personally, that's what I saw.

[01:31:57] So we had the conversation on whether or not y'all would vote for Natalie.

[01:32:01] Um, because you saw her game, you experienced edge of extinction.

[01:32:04] And I think that the difference is that you all had played the game before and you knew

[01:32:09] what it took to actually get to day 39 or whatever.

[01:32:14] Um, and how hard it is to mentally and emotionally and physically get up every day.

[01:32:20] I'm not saying I didn't experience the edge.

[01:32:22] So I don't know.

[01:32:23] But in general, like you, you guys knew you experienced that.

[01:32:25] You knew how hard it was to get to day 39.

[01:32:27] And you respected that just as much as, you know, Natalie's freaking badass, right?

[01:32:33] Like so cool.

[01:32:34] But I think that there's a level of you guys having already played that you respected

[01:32:37] Tony's win and that ability to stay in the game.

[01:32:40] Before he answers that, Lauren, though, because let's paint the picture because maybe there

[01:32:44] is a reason why Wendell voted for the way that he did vote.

[01:32:49] In that win-back challenge where Natalie won, who was she playing against?

[01:32:56] I don't remember.

[01:32:57] Oh, was it Wendell?

[01:32:58] I remember.

[01:33:01] Natalie was the mayor of Edge of Extinction because she got there on day one.

[01:33:07] She's building up this war chest of these things and all these people.

[01:33:11] Edge of Extinction on Winners at War rewarded people that were voted there early, which means

[01:33:16] if you made it further in the game, you get sent to the edge.

[01:33:19] You might not know that you're able to send stuff over and you're winning.

[01:33:24] Did you get an idol when you came back in?

[01:33:26] What's that?

[01:33:27] Did they get an idol when they came back into the game?

[01:33:30] I don't know.

[01:33:31] Or did they take that away?

[01:33:32] Fire tokens, purchase an idol, was it one kind of thing?

[01:33:35] Yeah.

[01:33:36] I was terrified.

[01:33:38] All kinds of like, I thought the Edge of Extinction was like, you know, by the time I got there after

[01:33:45] the merge, I thought the Edge of Extinction was just like nothing.

[01:33:49] You know, you're just in purgatory.

[01:33:50] But in actuality, people that have been there since day one are finding things and getting

[01:33:55] this and developing this war chest that will then help them in the win back challenge or

[01:34:01] whatever.

[01:34:01] She won advantage in the win back challenge too, right?

[01:34:03] Yeah.

[01:34:04] Yeah, yeah.

[01:34:04] So yeah, she had a few.

[01:34:06] I think I got one advantage.

[01:34:08] But anyway, in the win back challenge, Natalie won.

[01:34:12] She got back in.

[01:34:14] To your point though, Lauren, I mean, this is more directed at Wendell, but I agree with

[01:34:17] you.

[01:34:18] It's like Natalie got what?

[01:34:19] Four jury votes.

[01:34:20] Michelle got none, even though Natalie was the first person voted out.

[01:34:23] I'm sure some of those votes were from people that were on the Edge that felt like her experience

[01:34:28] validated theirs more than Michelle's did.

[01:34:31] And I think the reason that Tony won that you said is probably, I mean, not only did Tony

[01:34:36] play an awesome game, but like the jurors having been winners understood it more.

[01:34:41] But I think your question is very good compared to like Edge of Extinction, your season is

[01:34:46] like that same mentality, I'm sure was a factor in winners at war.

[01:34:51] The edge is so flawed because you're literally on another island jury tampering.

[01:34:58] It's like you are with the people that will.

[01:35:01] Yeah.

[01:35:02] More than a million dollars.

[01:35:03] So yeah, they have the similar lived experience as you.

[01:35:07] Whoever gets back in the game is like their representative almost.

[01:35:12] And you could have been the sole provider providing all the fish and making fire.

[01:35:17] You could just sit there and be super nice to them because you're not really playing the

[01:35:21] game there.

[01:35:22] You're just chilling.

[01:35:23] Yeah.

[01:35:23] But does that not then knowing what you know now?

[01:35:26] Right.

[01:35:27] Like, does that isn't that the point of the game though?

[01:35:29] Like, because then it's like.

[01:35:32] Why would you send who like would that change who you send to the Edge of Extinction?

[01:35:37] You got to know the Edge of Extinction exists.

[01:35:40] Well, I feel like at winners at war, didn't you?

[01:35:43] You know, you knew going in.

[01:35:45] Right.

[01:35:45] So.

[01:35:45] So that's what I'm saying for winners at war.

[01:35:47] Like, don't you think that that would then change who you send there for that very reason?

[01:35:52] But what do you do?

[01:35:53] Keep the people that you want out in the game and risk them never getting voted out?

[01:35:58] Yeah.

[01:35:58] You want to get.

[01:35:59] I don't know.

[01:36:00] Yeah.

[01:36:00] So you.

[01:36:01] At least make it harder for them to sit at the end with you.

[01:36:05] Don't you think?

[01:36:06] I mean.

[01:36:06] But true.

[01:36:08] Yeah.

[01:36:08] Also, I mean, you guys are like if you're on the Edge of Extinction with someone for 30

[01:36:11] days and you don't even have to like be cutthroat, you could just sit there and bond.

[01:36:17] By the end of the 30 days, I'll be like, well, Chris is my boy now.

[01:36:20] So I'm going to vote for him to win a million.

[01:36:22] Like, I don't even know.

[01:36:23] Like, of course, I'm going to vote for my boy.

[01:36:27] But yeah, that's not true, though.

[01:36:29] Because Winner was out there with Tyson and Jeremy for how long?

[01:36:33] And they got back to the room.

[01:36:34] Well, Jeremy, at the end, I bet you Wendell loaded votes for it.

[01:36:37] Well, I mean, that is true.

[01:36:39] But needless to say, shout out to our girl, Rachel, because she did the damn thing.

[01:36:49] She played an amazing game.

[01:36:51] It's truly been such a fun season to watch her, to see her with her back against the wall,

[01:36:57] for her to make these game changing moves, for her to do the things that she did.

[01:37:02] I just want to say congratulations to Rachel.

[01:37:04] It's been a fun season.

[01:37:06] Part of it being so fun is that we've had amazing characters to watch all season, i.e. Rome, i.e. Asia, i.e. Anika, i.e. Sierra, Saul, like so many.

[01:37:22] Like, this season has been so amazing.

[01:37:24] And so for it to be...

[01:37:25] Sue.

[01:37:26] Sue.

[01:37:27] Hey, what?

[01:37:28] You better talk about your girlfriend.

[01:37:30] You should go with me when you go home.

[01:37:32] Right now.

[01:37:34] Clock fan T, Lauren.

[01:37:36] This is fun.

[01:37:37] You should invite me more often.

[01:37:39] Look, girl, always and forever.

[01:37:41] But any final words on the season?

[01:37:43] Yeah, Bryce, before we go, not to keep us, I quickly want to ask each of you, where do you rank 47 in the new era?

[01:37:51] And where do you rank Rachel as a winner in the new era?

[01:37:57] One and one.

[01:37:58] One.

[01:37:58] Well, actually, I don't know.

[01:38:02] Because I rank this season one.

[01:38:05] Because I think the season for me personally, I loved it.

[01:38:07] However, amongst the winners, I rank Rachel amongst Jam.

[01:38:14] Amongst D.

[01:38:15] Like, I think of Jam, D, Rachel.

[01:38:18] That's where I put her.

[01:38:19] In that order?

[01:38:21] No.

[01:38:22] I just, they in a group together.

[01:38:25] Now, he asked what...

[01:38:27] Yeah, I know what he asked.

[01:38:28] I gave him a group.

[01:38:30] No, he said, what place do you put her in?

[01:38:33] I put season 47 at the top.

[01:38:37] And I rank Rachel among winners like D and like Jam.

[01:38:44] And what would you rank her among them?

[01:38:49] She is in the top upper echelon.

[01:38:53] Because listen, I love Jam's win.

[01:38:56] I thought D's win was impressive.

[01:38:58] I thought Rachel's win was impressive.

[01:39:01] I didn't make the merge.

[01:39:02] I didn't make the merge.

[01:39:04] So I can't speak on it.

[01:39:05] I did not.

[01:39:06] I didn't make the merge.

[01:39:07] So I can't speak on it.

[01:39:09] My motto is underqualified over opinionated, baby.

[01:39:12] Go ahead.

[01:39:13] You can go right at it.

[01:39:15] Listen.

[01:39:17] I think Rachel played top tier.

[01:39:21] Like, I love Rachel.

[01:39:22] Like, I feel like if we were at an airport, I would have TSA.

[01:39:28] Rachel got global entry.

[01:39:29] Okay?

[01:39:30] Like, she's just...

[01:39:32] She's above me.

[01:39:35] Rachel killed it.

[01:39:36] Like, I think I...

[01:39:37] Okay.

[01:39:37] You want me to go on record?

[01:39:38] I think Rachel is one of the best winners of the new era.

[01:39:45] That's what you just said.

[01:39:46] You just went on the record and said it.

[01:39:49] Okay.

[01:39:49] So listen.

[01:39:50] Let's play a game.

[01:39:51] Let's play a game.

[01:39:52] We're in a room.

[01:39:54] Lauren and Jack.

[01:39:55] You're Tyson.

[01:39:57] Wendell.

[01:39:57] You're Jeremy.

[01:39:59] I'm Wendell.

[01:40:00] Okay?

[01:40:00] Let's not talk no more.

[01:40:02] Okay?

[01:40:04] You know what?

[01:40:05] I'll save you.

[01:40:06] I'll save you.

[01:40:06] Because what I'm about to say is going to make you look great.

[01:40:09] Of the all new era seasons that I have watched, which is two, I rank her...

[01:40:18] Top two.

[01:40:20] Number one, for sure.

[01:40:21] What was the other season?

[01:40:23] Oh.

[01:40:25] Sorry.

[01:40:25] You keep cutting out.

[01:40:26] I can't.

[01:40:27] I can't.

[01:40:27] Oh.

[01:40:28] Oh, God.

[01:40:29] It's static.

[01:40:29] I can't hear you.

[01:40:31] No.

[01:40:32] Y'all gonna let her slide?

[01:40:34] Oh, y'all gonna let her slide?

[01:40:35] You only saved your season.

[01:40:37] I guess so.

[01:40:38] I said two full seasons.

[01:40:40] Two full seasons.

[01:40:42] Okay.

[01:40:42] What was the other season?

[01:40:43] All right, Jack.

[01:40:45] What?

[01:40:45] Here go Jack.

[01:40:46] Jack about the hate.

[01:40:47] Jack about the hate.

[01:40:48] I was about to be a bright type of answer, but now I can't.

[01:40:51] So, I'm gonna say two and two.

[01:40:55] Well, who's won?

[01:40:56] Right.

[01:40:56] I would say 45 and D are one for me.

[01:41:00] I was gonna say 45, 46, 47, all very close for me.

[01:41:03] I think D is probably the best winner.

[01:41:06] But I would say, too, I think Rachel's blueprint for her game is probably better than D's.

[01:41:12] But I think D just had a little bit of that extra, like, X factor that brought her to the win.

[01:41:18] Like, her connections were just a little bit stronger with people.

[01:41:21] Yeah, she had an alliance.

[01:41:22] She had a squad.

[01:41:24] Yeah.

[01:41:25] And Rachel didn't.

[01:41:26] And so, that's why I'm like, I think Rachel, but I ain't mad, though.

[01:41:29] But in order for D to have that type of squad, you had to build those type of relationships.

[01:41:33] And that's what I was saying earlier.

[01:41:35] That's what I was saying earlier.

[01:41:37] I think I am.

[01:41:38] Is will you value more?

[01:41:39] The people that were in charge and had that strategy and were able to integrate themselves into relationships and alliances or the person who was on the bottom and had to fight their way to the end.

[01:41:47] I'm not saying either is better than the other, but I think that's two different ways to play the game.

[01:41:53] Jeremy, Lauren, and Tyson Jack.

[01:41:56] Can y'all please speak to Wendell and ask him the same question?

[01:42:00] Thank you.

[01:42:01] I can't wait.

[01:42:02] This is going to be good.

[01:42:03] Yeah, Wendell.

[01:42:05] So, we've been letting you, like, hang out with us for a while.

[01:42:08] So, we're just curious if you can tell us, like, where do you rank, Rachel?

[01:42:13] Mom told me I could only come on the podcast if I let you come with me.

[01:42:18] Okay.

[01:42:18] Okay.

[01:42:18] Well, my other half is only on one of the seasons.

[01:42:25] So, I'm going to have to say the greatest season of the new era is going to have to be season 47.

[01:42:33] And the greatest winner of the new era, I'll say the top three are going to have to be the same three that Bryce said.

[01:42:44] Rachel, Jam, and Dee are the top three winners.

[01:42:50] Did you want to rank those?

[01:42:53] Because you were just young.

[01:42:55] I asked for not ranking them.

[01:42:57] Okay, okay, okay, okay.

[01:42:58] Okay, no, let me, never mind.

[01:43:00] Ooh, I was about to be messy.

[01:43:02] I don't have a take.

[01:43:03] Say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it, say it
