[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_07]: Aw, thanks, Mike. Yeah, I'm also very solid. It's just been a tough, a tough week with this, you know. Saul really jumped up and I think became a fan favorite.
[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_07]: And look, I don't want to spoil anything for the game that we're going to play today. But the casuals also really loved him.
[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_07]: So it is a bit sad to have him ultimately get voted out here. But yeah, what an episode with a lot of challenges, a lot of scrambling and a lot to talk about.
[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_08]: Well, we're going to get into his down stall, definitely. But I'm very excited to welcome this guy in as we always do.
[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_08]: And I don't know, Liana, you've been looking into these Internet streets for what the casuals are thinking.
[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_08]: But this guy is one of the most tuned in to what's going on on Survivor on the Internet, considering he's putting out content week after week.
[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_08]: More hardworking than people standing on pegs, grunting it out as Jeff Probst says that they can all be secretive peridium, but then also calling out how they're doing at the challenges.
[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, thank you guys for having me.
[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I was going to say, it's all good, man. It's all good. You know, Saul's gone. We're going with the Saul puns.
[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_02]: He said it on the episode. I was like, no, it's all good.
[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_02]: He said the thing. He said the name. Yeah.
[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I happen to be here. Of course. Of course. It wouldn't be a season of Survivor.
[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_02]: I can't talk if I can't check into the B&B.
[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_08]: So here we are. Week nine feels like finally,
[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_08]: I say in one respect, we're getting our feet out under us, maybe one foot, because again,
[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_08]: we do have a little bit of something to derail the format in the first half of this episode as we go to what seems to be the now seasonal break into groups and then compete as individuals.
[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_08]: Challenge with the extra twist thrown in, as we saw in 45 of, OK, 40 percent of the group is going to lose their vote.
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_08]: And then 75 percent of those people are going to earn their vote back.
[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_08]: But it ends up culminating in what I thought was such a fun second half of the episode, even if it is much ado about nothing.
[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_08]: I hope people realize when they look back on this season and they look at the voting chart.
[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_08]: Don't just remember this as like an open and shut unanimous vote against Saul.
[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_08]: There was a lot of enjoyment and havoc to be had in the second half of this episode.
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_08]: But Priam, give me your thoughts about sort of the tale of two stories we got in this particular installment and your thoughts about Survivor 47 up to this point.
[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I agree with you there with the eight to one vote.
[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_02]: It was very jarring.
[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I watched and I was like, wait, what?
[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Wait, what did I?
[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I felt I kind of missed something.
[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, they just dogpiled.
[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_02]: But I also think that there was it's more like it's not about the end.
[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_02]: It's about the journey, not the destination a little bit.
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, it was the journey.
[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_02]: There was one in this episode.
[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_02]: And we got the journey, of course, classic, classic modern new era Survivor.
[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_02]: But no, I enjoyed it.
[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I enjoyed the episode for the most part.
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I think that the second half was very much different than the first half where you split the middle with the challenge, which was like good 10, 15 minutes or so.
[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_02]: It's pretty long.
[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_02]: But they've done this pretty much every new era season at this point.
[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And I was remarking on how I thought the second half was very interesting because I like the tribal council.
[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Actually, I usually find myself more in tune with the camp life stuff and the strategy there.
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_02]: And then we go to tribal and it's like, all right, here we go.
[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's a little more routine.
[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a little like everybody just keeps their carts themselves.
[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And but this time I was loving it because there was so much of like this little it was like the quietest live tribal in a minute.
[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_08]: They were so polite.
[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_08]: Right. They all stayed in their seats basically until Jeff gave them permission.
[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Right. Jeff was remarking about it.
[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, Teenie was like, can you just repeat the question, please?
[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And they were talking.
[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Jeff was like asking them questions about how they're whispering to each other.
[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_02]: And I counted there was like 15 different interactions before it actually became live,
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_02]: which I feel like has to be a record for the amount of times that people just didn't get like when somebody's got to get up.
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_02]: I would almost like hoping that they didn't get up because I was like, this is going to be the quietest live tribal ever where they're all just panicking silently in their seats.
[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Just like what's going on?
[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, there's so many.
[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know.
[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm having trouble following who is lost where because I was like the votes seem to line up well with each faction.
[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_02]: They should have the votes from their perspective and they're all confused.
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_02]: And then all of a sudden it became eight to one.
[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_02]: And now I'm confused.
[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_02]: And overall, I've been enjoying this season a lot.
[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I think that's been the common sentiment online.
[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_02]: I agree with that.
[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Usually not too uncommon, but I like it.
[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's pretty good.
[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_02]: We've had a great cast.
[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Every episode has been good.
[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I really don't think there's been any like episodes, questionable ones.
[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_02]: I will agree with Liana last week.
[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it was last week.
[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Auction.
[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Why do we not?

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't need to be gamified.
[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_02]: I will say that's one of my biggest criticisms of this season, but it also applies to 45.

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's nothing particularly unique.
[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And honestly, I don't think it's going to change much.
[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a small thing to complain about in the big picture.
[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think overall, I've liked 47 quite a lot.
[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm hoping that we continue this trend because I feel like 45, 46, 47 has been a
[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_02]: great trio back to back to back.
[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm worried that like 48 won't now, but we'll see.
[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_07]: Well, I mean, you know, look, if it doesn't end up being bad, that's okay.

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_07]: So look, I would say for me, this episode was interesting because on one hand, there was
[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_07]: the excitement of, oh my God, who's actually going to go?
[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_07]: And all of the scramble.
[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_07]: And, you know, it's like, oh, well, I thought we were going to do Kyle.
[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_07]: We're not doing Sue.
[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_07]: And then that really seemingly teeny suggestion of wanting to do Kyle, that seemed to be the
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_07]: tipping point where everything just seemingly exploded after that, because now there were
[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_07]: no longer two sides.
[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_07]: Now there were sort of three things that people were trying to decide between, which I think
[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_07]: really created a ton of chaos.
[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_07]: At least that's the narrative that we saw in the scramble.
[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_07]: And then also continuing seemingly into the quietest live tribal council.
[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, that was the thing was like, it didn't even seem like there was so much up in the
[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_08]: air as people being like, I don't know what to decide.
[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_08]: It was just more so confusion of, OK, wait, so this is the plan, right?
[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_08]: Like that seemed to be more of the 15 or so chickens that Peronim is talking about was
[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_08]: just people whispering at each other, being like, yeah, OK, we're voting this person,
[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_08]: right?
[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_08]: It wasn't necessarily I don't know what my options are.
[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_08]: Again, it seemed like the vote was pretty locked in that it was basically going to be
[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_08]: like the two goos plus Rachel and Andy.
[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_08]: And then my Occam's razor and maybe we'll find this out at the beginning of next episode
[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_08]: or through exit press or whatever was like, yeah, everyone pretty much got that once Rachel
[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_08]: and Andy weren't budging, then like everyone else decided to jump on board.
[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_08]: That's the weird thing about this very unique type of disarray was that it was less about,
[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_08]: oh, my God, anyone could go is more so like, yeah, what did we agree upon?
[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_08]: I don't really remember.
[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_08]: Can we all try to get on the same page here?
[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_08]: And so especially when you look back in retrospect, it's when you see Saul like get up and start
[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_08]: whispering, it kind of becomes unfortunately like the last gasps in a manner of speaking
[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_08]: of someone that is drowning that only found out he was drowning about six hours ago.
[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_07]: And I mean, I understand why the editors don't want to give it away.
[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_07]: But at the same time, I'm now just imagining that tribal council, all the whispering was just
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_07]: like, OK, but we're still doing salt, right?
[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_07]: Or like, no, I'm doing salt.
[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_07]: Like that's why I imagine Rachel talking to Sam, for example, where Sam is trying desperately
[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_07]: to get the vote to flip.
[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_07]: And it's probably just Rachel and Andy being like, no, no, like we're doing Sam or something
[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_07]: that we're doing salt, like something like that, where it's actually not that exciting.
[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_07]: It's just confirmatory because you can see Sam like trying to scramble.
[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_07]: But like ultimately he even ends up voting out Saul.
[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_02]: It was did salt confirm I know I didn't listen to his exit press, but did he confirm that it
[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_02]: was like they just realized that Rachel and Andy because I was like from the perspective
[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_02]: of the Lavos or really just teeny and salt.
[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_02]: They looked like they would have had Genevieve the whole they felt it seemed like they thought
[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_02]: they had Genevieve the whole time.
[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_02]: But obviously we knew they didn't.
[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_02]: She was pretty much the cat.
[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_02]: She was the orchestrator of all this all this ruckus, right?
[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_02]: It could have been a simple could have been a simple Sam vote, I guess.
[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_02]: But Lava was freaking and they thought they had her.
[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm like, oh, so they knew they had Sam for sure.
[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_02]: He's the one who's basically blowing it all up.
[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And then Rachel really wasn't shown too much.
[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, well, they think they have Andy, which is an interesting read.
[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_02]: But I'm like, why wouldn't they think they have Andy?
[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_02]: What have we gotten that suggests they don't have Andy?
[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, why wouldn't they?
[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_08]: Well, what from what Saul told me, he didn't play his shot in the dark because he felt like
[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_08]: if anything, it would be a very tight margin and he didn't want to necessarily get himself
[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_08]: voted out.
[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_08]: Basically, he had said that he had felt that one of the reasons why he didn't play Sean
[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_08]: the dark is because he felt he had Rachel and Andy on his side.
[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_08]: What's interesting is the Genevieve of it all.
[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_08]: He's told me and I think he's told other people as well that he wasn't like completely
[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_08]: surprised, maybe more so in retrospect, that Genevieve voted against him, considering that
[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_08]: despite maybe some of the conversations they got over their like shared misery towards
[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_08]: Rome, they never really were on the same page from the very beginning when, you know, Saul
[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_08]: was part of that movement by Asia to try to get Genevieve voted out.
[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_08]: And so maybe they just like made nice.
[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_08]: And so I think Saul eventually knew it was coming.
[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_08]: I think the larger piece of discussion, which he brings up as well, is like, is this way
[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_08]: too early?
[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_08]: Uh, and this is, I mean, I guess we had this conversation with the Keyshawn vote as
[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_08]: well.
[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_08]: So maybe we just think with Genevieve, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_08]: And for whatever reason, Genevieve is able to get by on like a motorcycle that's taped
[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_08]: together with duct tape, despite the fact that anyone else who tries to sit on it, it
[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_08]: would instantly fall apart.

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe.

[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, yeah, it's funny to think about.

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, Oh yeah, they're the only two red players left.

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_02]: What a, from the very beginning, I would never have predicted that that's where the Lavo
[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_02]: tribe was headed with teeny and she's on the bottom.
[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And then he got, you got, uh, Genevieve over there calling all the shots basically look
[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_02]: like a mastermind at this point.
[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like, Oh, interesting.
[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Didn't see this coming.
[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_08]: It's interesting.
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_08]: Cause like, I think of the three tribes, I probably would have pegged Lavo as like the
[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_08]: one to cannibalize themselves first, just because like there was such an obnoxious mixture
[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_08]: of personalities delightfully.
[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_08]: So that's true.
[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_08]: They were going to take each other.
[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_08]: I think we had assumed that the three Lavo's would have been tighter than we thought because
[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_08]: like hell, even last episode it was presented as like, well, they're the ones that are making
[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_08]: the decisions.
[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_08]: And this just came out of nowhere though.
[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_08]: It didn't apparently for Genevieve that she's like, great.
[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_08]: Now I have the opportunity to take out Saul.
[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_08]: And it's like, what?
[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_08]: And Genevieve, she just, she mystifies me.
[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_08]: And I wonder if it's the fact that it's Genevieve looking for a stallion to tame because she
[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_08]: joins up, she joins up with Rome.
[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_08]: And like Rome proves himself to be this agent of chaos.
[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_08]: And granted, there is a certain point where Genevieve is either like, I don't want to work
[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_08]: with him anymore or like, I got to cut bait.
[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_08]: He's too much of a liability.
[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_08]: But like, think about the other people that she has reached out to, to work with exclusively
[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_08]: Andy.
[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_08]: Andy.
[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_08]: And now in this episode, even like prior to Gabe winning immunity, she's like, I want
[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_08]: to work with Gabe.
[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_08]: I think she feels that she is able to like attach herself to these players of absolute
[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_08]: entropy and either ride them to the end and like, hope she gets the votes over them or
[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_08]: like essentially abuse and use them and discard them of like, all right, I'm going to use them
[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_08]: as a shield as long as it takes.
[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_08]: And then like, once they prove too unstable, then I'm going to ditch them.
[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_08]: And so maybe the reason why Genevieve decided to hitch her wagon to Tuku and decide to dispose

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_07]: And then I had to think, OK, what I'm being presented versus what the reality probably is

[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_07]: So I think that that's one thing to consider, that she probably still has the numbers without Saul.
[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_07]: The other thing kind of goes to Mike's point earlier about the wild stallion-ness of it all.

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_07]: I think it's who she thinks she can beat.
