PATRON SHOW UNLOCKED: Survivor 48 Premiere Q&A

The Survivor Q&A is back for Survivor 48! Each week, patrons can call in to chat with Rob Cesternino about everything going on in the latest episode of Survivor. Patrons will receive the link to watch & call into the show each week. If you are not a patron, you will only be able to watch the show live! This week, we're unlocking the patron show for EVERYONE!

[00:00:00] Hey everybody, what's going on? Rob Cesternino back for our Survivor Q&A. And today we're talking about the premiere of Survivor 48. And I'll be taking calls from the patrons of Rob's podcast with a little bit of a twist to kick off the season. We're gonna make this show available to everyone. So everyone has a chance to see what goes on every single Friday as I talk to the great

[00:00:30] greatest Survivor fans in the world. I've been saying a lot lately, Survivor is better when you're part of a tribe. I think that we have the best imaginable community of Survivor fans here on RHAP. We'll get to hear from them today as they have the link, the patrons have the link to call in and talk with me. I do this every Friday at 3 p.m. Eastern, at least that's the goal. Sometimes we, as you may hear, will have some different days and

[00:01:00] times and maybe even a fill-in host for me along the way. But that's the goal. We go for a couple of hours, try to get to as many people as we can, and we'll hear all sorts of great questions from the community. We've gotten the week off to a great start with the Know-It-Alls, my exit interview, and I had a really fun time talking with Zach Wurtenberger over two hours with Zach on Thursday for you to check out. Plus, we're not done. We got the Q&A here today. And then we've got the Q&A here today. And then we've got the Q&A here today. And then we've got the Q&A here today.

[00:01:30] We've got our old-school Survivor interview. I'm going to talk with T-Bird. Plus, we've still got Club Condo to go with Chappelle, where we'll talk about all of the wacky moments from Survivor, all the things that made us laugh, and all the things from social media. We'll do that on Monday, of course. If you're new to the podcast, make sure you're subscribed to the podcast. Go to getrhap.com. And if you want to find out more about becoming a patron, head on over to robhiswebsite.com slash patron.

[00:02:00] Here with us today also is our patron community manager, who is really your concierge in many ways of all things Patreon. Derek is here. Derek, how are you? Hello. Did you like that I called you the concierge? Yeah, why not? I think that's a great word. Okay. Yeah. Word of the day.

[00:02:22] Yeah. Patron concierge, Derek. And it just is like, hey, you become a patron. And it's like, I don't know what to do. I don't know. I have a question. Derek is here to help you. And Derek just got back from San Diego, where he was part of the big patron watch party in San Diego. Derek, how was that? It was awesome. Nathan threw a very fun event. We had a big turnout. It's always more fun, as you say, to watch Survivor with a tribe. And yes, San Diego was a great time.

[00:02:52] We gave out a little bit of swag, which was fun. And we got some more exciting things coming up. So we have Bryson Wen here in LA next week. So we'll be doing some patron stuff Tuesday night and then Wednesday before Bryson Wen. Yeah. If I could just back up one step, one of the things that we have been trying to do is trying to organize more events in person, even when I'm not able to travel the country and be with people.

[00:03:19] I know everybody wants to come out for the live show. We'll be in Boston on April 9th. As Tony would say, that show is a sellout, bro. So no tickets left for that. But Bryson Wendell, they're touring around the country. Derek is working to try to figure out ways to organize patrons in the different cities that Bryson Wendell are at so that we'll have maybe a day or two of events in each of the tour stops that Bryson Wendell are making.

[00:03:46] And so, Derek, how do people get involved with finding out what you're doing as far as RHAP Local? RHAP Local, you could just hit me up. Really email me if you're not a patron. We've been posting stuff in the patron group, in the Facebook, in the Discord. If you're not at the $10 level, then you don't see that stuff. But you can always go to the patron bulletin, which is robiswebsite.com slash welcome. And we post all the updates for local events there. So you can access that at any patron level.

[00:04:12] But yeah, if you have questions, just email me, rhapderick at gmail.com. We'll be doing stuff in LA next week for Bryson Wendell, as I said. And then I'll also be going to San Francisco the following week and we'll be coordinating with... There's a lot going on in San Fran, too. There's a lot of patrons up there. So a couple of things to look forward to. And yeah, I've been emailing everyone who filled out the RHAP Local form as well. So if you didn't get an email from me, look for your spam or hit me up on any social media or email. Okay. All right. Derek, thank you so much. Let me get into some of these calls here today.

[00:04:43] And Derek stops by on Fridays to give us a little bit of an update on what's going on in the patron world. Derek, did you enjoy the Survivor premiere? Yeah, I thought it was really fun. I'm liking a lot of people and was sad to see Stephanie go. Yeah, she's a big character. I hope that we get to do more stuff with her on the podcast. Yeah, but I think there's a lot of fun to come, it looks like. So yeah, I'm excited. Okay. All right. So let's try to keep this Survivor focus.

[00:05:09] I know if people have like a trader's question or whatnot, I'd like to try to not do too much trader's talk here today. Try to keep this focused for Survivor on the Q&A. Derek, did you have a Survivor question? No, I think let the patrons bring it in. So yeah. All right. You guys have fun. Talk to you later, Derek. Okay. Bye.

[00:05:32] All right. So here's what we're going to do. We're going to take the calls. We try to give people just a couple of minutes to be able to get to everybody. One thing that we may need to do if we're pressed on time, maybe people, if you've called in the week before, maybe like, hey, let's try to really keep it quick, try to keep it tight so we can get to as many people as possible.

[00:05:59] I've never left anybody on hold that I've never not gotten to everybody on any of these call-in shows in over 10 years of doing that. And I don't want to start anytime soon. So let's try to, you know, we'll keep it tight and we'll get to everybody. All right. So let me start things off. Let me welcome in. Let's kick off a new season and talk to Josh Kettles. Josh, how are you?

[00:06:27] Great, Rob. Except for I missed the fun party in San Diego with Derek. Oh, no. What happened? No, I had other plans with great friends. We watched it with about a dozen of us at our house, as we usually do. You're such a great Survivor fan. You had multiple Survivor bookings. Yes. Yeah, yeah. How are you doing? I'm doing great, except for I will say I invited all these friends to my house to watch Survivor. They dressed it? And I was just uncontrollably sobbing in front of them.

[00:06:56] Okay, the Eva and Joe stuff really, really hits home for me. I have an Eva in my life and somebody who, like, there was a person who came in my life and I just had to make a decision, like, do I have him or not? And so, anyways, that just, like, really, really got me. That's cool, Josh. Yeah, yeah. I'm not trying to make this about me. I just wanted to share. Why not? Why can't it be about you? It's your time.

[00:07:24] Okay, all right. Well, about this, I will say there was this really beautiful TikTok I saw, I don't know, a couple months ago, about a parent of a child with autism and how they shared a metaphor for their, like, those analogists to their journey. And I just, I feel like it applies so well to Joe's experience of Survivor, too, that I feel like it's getting a little bit lost in the debate here, which is, you know, when you, I don't know, this, you know, I'm sure there's probably multiple people listening here who are parents of kids with different types of disabilities or,

[00:07:53] you know, whatever, not just autism, but she basically described it akin to going, you know, you have a trip planned for Italy, a vacation where your bags are packed, everything's going to Italy, you get on the plane, and, you know, you read all the books about Italy, you think about all the different types of foods you're going to eat in Italy, and then you get off the plane and you're in Switzerland. And it's not that that's, like, inherently worse than, you know, being in Italy. It's just that you were, you know, the experience is just completely different than what you signed up for and what you thought you were going to be headed towards.

[00:08:23] And she said that that's what it felt like, you know, you know, having her child diagnosed with autism. And so I'm getting a little choked up here, but I just, I just feel like for Joe to experience that whiplash of getting off the plane and realizing, like, oh, my survivor journey is going to be much different than what I signed up for. You know, we get that moment in the beginning where he's crying and he just feels like he, you know, is so excited to play Survivor, to do it for his family. You know, something that we talk about is, like, you know, as Survivor nerds, it's like, you got to make sure you know who you're most,

[00:08:53] loyal to, which is your family. And then he gets out there and there's this, like, transcendent thing that goes beyond the game. And I just thought, like, the grace that he handled that with and that moment where he just says, I got her. Like, I just, yeah, that's a getting off the plane in Switzerland moment. And I just, I loved it so much. Yeah, that's a really great point, just to connect the things about Joe's experience. He's a caretaker. That's how he is. And, you know, I don't know if it was by design or it was a coincidence that, you know, production had them on the same tribe of that. Okay, she's going to need her person.

[00:09:23] And like this, she doesn't know it yet and he doesn't know it yet, but he's the perfect person to be her person. Like, did they, did they see this match coming? But it was a great television for all of us to get to watch and is a really interesting start of a story with, for them. Yeah. And I honestly, like, I was so relieved even just to the beginning of the, before the season started to see that Ava was out there with you guys in New York and to see that there was photos posted.

[00:09:52] Because I just feel like this, when I heard about, you know, her being the first openly autistic person to play Survivor, like the, the variance on what their experience might be could be as low as like, you know, a Zeke type of experience out there. To, you know, as high as, you know, just like some of like the most compelling moving journey that, you know, she could experience and we could experience along with her.

[00:10:13] And so I just like the very least, the fact that I know that she had a positive enough experience to be going out there with you all and, you know, to be at that beach drop event gives me some relief wherever this is headed. That that's like, you know, her final destinations that she's still happy with the show and had a positive experience. But man, I'm just still going to be on, on edge for her and for Joe, just like how this, this shakes out. Yeah. Okay. Well, I don't have any reason to believe that she's had a negative experience.

[00:10:40] She seemed to be like in very good spirits when she was at the event in New York and, you know, just seemed like, you know, just another member of the cast. So we'll see what ultimately unfolds. But it was, I think that probably the most engaging part of the episode. I know my, like really captured my kids' attention in terms of that. I think Nicole was like starting to tear up during that. So it was a, you know, huge moment in the episode. Yeah, absolutely.

[00:11:10] And again, I, I just, I, it's the only time I've ever had to walk away from the TV screen. I was literally crying so hard. I just was like, I need to remove myself physically because I'm distracting people from like watching the show and people like checking in with me, which I'm a noted cry baby. Like that's not like that new, but yeah. Anyway, so I just, I don't know. I had to just like shout out that moment and just, I feel like if, yeah, if anything the show like does, I just think they took a huge risk with this. And I, I'm like, actually like, I was nervous, but I'm really, I'm really excited to see how this, this, yeah. Yeah.

[00:11:40] Shakes out. I feel like, you know, I don't know how you feel, but like, usually I'm like, I just want the game to be the game. Like I'm like this strategy nerd. Like that's how I feel about myself, but like, this is like a really surprising, like spanner in the works, you know, that's being thrown at them, but also me as a viewer. Yeah. Okay. Well, we'll see how it plays out. Was there anything else on your mind, Josh? There's always stuff, but I know you want to keep this zippy, Rob. Zippy. I think I can just, yeah, I can just bow out here and just having said the most important thing for me.

[00:12:08] Well, great points all around and we'll talk to you soon. Okay, Josh. See you, Rob. All right. Take care. Bye. Get things started. Let's then, let me say hello to Christine. Hey, Christine. How are you? Good. How are you? Doing great. What's going on? Do you remember when I beat you at Twish? How can I forget, Christine? I had so few losses. They're all, you know, keep me up at night. It's okay. You can blame it on the scoop in question.

[00:12:38] But I wanted to talk about David. Yes. By the way, a great episode of Twish this week. As Genevieve's husband, Mark Talon, joined me to play Twish against Jordan Kalish this week. Oh, I haven't listened to it yet. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I wanted to talk about David and particularly a very hot take that my husband had. This is the first time I've called in, but this was important enough for me to call in.

[00:13:02] And so I think it's, first of all, very fun to have someone who knows nothing about Survivor on a show. An Australian Survivor does it all the time. I just think it's wonderful to have like a foil to the super fans. Yes. And I was not on my bingo card to hear him say, I'm just a girl staring at a boy asking him to love her. I just wasn't expecting that. So it was a lot of fun. Yeah. But when I started the show, I said, because my husband doesn't do any of the preseason stuff.

[00:13:32] So I said, David, this guy, Rob's wife hates him. I've never heard her hate anyone as much as David. He said to me, and I don't agree with this, but he said to me, he looks just like Rob. And I said, no way, because all I do is I hear your voice and your vibe. And it's like the opposite of David.

[00:13:54] But then he immediately pulls up your face from the Amazon, pulls up David's face from Survivor 48. Yeah. And I see it. Wow. Okay. Well, this is, I don't know how to process this. I know. Because. You might need to. Hmm. Yeah. In the chat, they do not look the same. So I don't know. Like if David, if David had no muscles, maybe you're saying he would look like me.

[00:14:24] No, I'm, I don't see your body ever. Yes. You know, it's just your face. Yes. Because I'm mostly just the head. Yes. No comment. Yeah. Yes. Kristen and the chest, I see it mostly in the biceps. Yeah. I mean, yes, sure. The similarity is striking. Yes. Okay. But I'll take it. But you think that maybe Nicole, that she feels like again. Was she like mad at you this week before she went into this? Was it a day that ends in Y?

[00:14:55] Yeah. So maybe this is just her projecting some, some marital strife. Perhaps. Perhaps. Yes. And actually, David was a very good sport about that, that, you know, he didn't say like, Hey, you little twerp. I'm going to like crush your head when I see you. He had a good natured post calling himself Nicole's winner pick. And, you know, I took it in stride. Yeah.

[00:15:24] Okay. Well, that's all I had. I just had to say that. Yeah. He can, he can do my stunts in the RHAP movie. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Exactly. Yeah. All right. Well, yeah. Thank you. That's an amazing call. And I'm sure, you know, we'll get a lot of feedback on it one way or the other. Yeah. I hope so. It was worth calling in. Yeah. Okay. And how are you doing? I'm doing good. I, my house was under construction when I last called and thankfully that's all over.

[00:15:54] So yeah, it's all done. I have my house back. All right. Well, Christine, thank you so much. Yeah. All right. Take care. All right. Bye. Harmony. Harmony. Harmony. Hey, Harmony. How are you? Hello, Harmony. You're, you're on mute. Can you hear me now? Now I hear you. My bad. I'm doing great. I went to see Bryson when they're in New York city. Yes.

[00:16:24] How was that? It was a party. Yes. It was great. I met a lot of people. I, I saw several people again and that was a lot of fun. Yeah. Yep. They got the tour started on Wednesday night. Anybody go if you can. And the, another small little update is I remember last time I called in, I asked you about what I should binge. I have been binging, uh, survivor.

[00:16:49] So I'm really excited for those old school interviews because that's exactly where I am. And as an update, I'm currently in Amazon episode six. Okay. All right. And you've seen Christy Smith. Yes, I have. So I was just like, I'm in the middle of that season. So I'm like, oh, that was, that was super, uh, cool. And I'm, I'm also obviously, uh, watching you tear it up as well.

[00:17:15] Um, but this is a little, honestly, it's already good. Yeah. As everything's been shuffled up, I'm like, oh, cool. No more, um, less misogyny with everybody. That feels like a shot now. Harmony. Listen, it was a different time. I, I was around during 2003. I get it. I get that. But, um, real quick question.

[00:17:43] Um, let's say, I know we, we don't gatekeep. It's, it's un-American, un-democratic, but let's say you are at an event, uh, in the corner talking to Jeff Probst. Okay. Uh, about the voting, uh, for season 50. What, uh, what question would you give to gatekeep casuals on the voting site? Okay.

[00:18:10] Now this was, if you listen to Twitch this week, uh, and also Zach Wurtenberger had the same thing that, uh, Jordan Kalish would talk to Jeff Probst. And I told this story on Twitch of how I'm watching Jordan as like, you know, when watching one of my children go up and talk to somebody like, oh my God, what is he saying? And I said, Jordan, what are you talking to Jeff about? He's like, well, I told him that they need to have a quiz that people need to take to be able to vote for the fan vote.

[00:18:37] I was like, uh, like, so is that what you're proposing? Harmony? You also want that? Listen, I, I didn't say that. Yes. I'm just curious. Like if you were, uh, giving a pitch to like, just to make sure that people, random people who've never seen the show or something, just log in, click, whatever, like it's for the fans, right? Which are also the casuals, but it's for the fans. Yes. So I'm like, am I trying to stop bots from entering?

[00:19:07] Like is a picture of like Rob Mariano. And I say, what city is this man from? You're trying to stop people who have never seen an episode of the show. Yeah. What do you think about that? I, I mean, I'm not mad at it. I think that I thought about this in case you flipped the script and said, what would you ask? I think the question should be, where was your favorite season held? Hmm.

[00:19:34] So that if it's one of the new ones, the answer is just Fiji. Anybody who's seen an episode of the show should know that it's probably in Fiji. Or if it's just, you've seen Survivor Africa, then you can just say Africa. Yeah. You know? Name a place that Survivor has been. Okay. I guess. Yeah. But yeah, I was just like, if you wanted to like make sure that there were no bots or anything, what would you ask? Yeah. What do you think that the bots would want?

[00:20:03] The bots would want. No rice? I guess it would be, I, I actually, I'm very pro, everyone's pro rice. It seems like, but I think that we get drama from the rice. Yeah. Sometimes you have people sneaking rice. You have, so I say. I mean, that's the rice and the chickens. I mean, throughout the history of the show, it's always a fight. They're eating too much. You didn't give me enough. You could, you didn't cook it how I like to cook it. I mean, you want there to be drama.

[00:20:33] Give these people some rice. Give them rice. I don't, I don't care if they're starving, but yeah, I just wanted to, I know we got to be jiffy. I want to make sure a bunch of people get the chance to call in. So yeah. Thank you for that. Okay. All right. Talk to you soon. Okay. All right. Take care. Okay. Let me say hi to Ben. Who's on hold. Hey, Ben. How are you? Good to talk to you. Yeah. What's happening? Not much. This week has been recovering from knee surgery for me. So wow. Okay.

[00:21:03] Are you doing all right? Yeah. Yeah. Doing great. Been watching White Lotus and all your podcasts. The new one or the old, you're catching up on the old ones? I'm still catching up. So nothing for season three yet. Okay. Doing good. Yeah. Survivor 48. Survivor 40. Great. I love it so far. I think that the sweat versus savvy challenge was the best part of the episode for me. Yeah. I don't think they call it that now.

[00:21:30] I think they call it now the fight for supplies is what the new name of it is. Well, it's more like a show don't tell of sweat versus savvy because the way that the players ended up going about it was perfect because it was essentially a sweat versus savvy. You know, you had Kyle going at it much more aggressively, haphazardly. And then, you know, we saw the results of that where, you know, Kevin obviously went about it more analytically.

[00:21:59] But very interesting. My question for you, though, is a little different. It seems like these tribes seem very straightforward and like, here's the obvious next vote. For the purple tribe, it seems to be star. You know, for the orange tribe, it seems to be charity. And then, you know, for the green tribe, you know, marry or say. Which one of those tribes you think is most likely to go off of that beaten path first?

[00:22:28] So I feel like that the charity thing was a little bit more based on just like one conversation that ended up happening. And I don't know if those four are super bonded. I think that on the purple tribe and I have to find my notes to remember what the purple tribe is. Nate Loggi. They seem to have like, OK, we have the guys together and then Thomas has Bianca and Joe

[00:22:58] has Eva. So it feels like that that's like, OK, a little bit more star is on the outside looking in. So I think that the orange tribe, Siva, is the one that I think could be more fluid. OK, I agree with you there. I did want to pitch that. My prediction is I think that we're going to get the green tribe, Vula. I think that they're going to be our disaster tribe. I think that they're going to be going to at least three pre-merged tribal councils.

[00:23:27] I think that would be interesting. I think that they're the most up in the air right now. I could see someone other than say or Mary going just because of what we saw last season. We saw both the red tribe and the yellow tribe have these three pairs of two people. And in both cases for the yellow tribe, we saw John Lovick go home, which was kind of like a pseudo pair with Andy.

[00:23:55] And when Andy would have been the next obvious vote to eliminate that pair entirely, we saw them go after Annika, you know, who seemed like a safe pair. And then in the red tribe, we see, you know, Asia go home. And then instead of going after Saul, who was her pseudo pair, you know, they look to the other pairs. So I think we could see some chaos like that happen in this green tribe just because if they're going to keep going back to tribal council, then one pair doesn't want to be

[00:24:24] going up against another pair. They want to be going up against two individuals. You know, when you think about it, OK, when you have these tribes of six and then you have duos and you take one person out of the duo. Now, all of a sudden, the other two duos are like fighting for the one person who's the swing. And so it doesn't always make the most sense to take out both people from a duo and then go into the merge with your, you know, two pairs. I think ideally, you know, one of the duos is going to want superiority and probably wants to pick up the other person.

[00:24:53] So really, it's not a bad strategy. And this is maybe a little bit of a hot take, everybody. You want to be very close with the first person to get voted out. Yeah. It's not bad, right? That's pretty good. Like, OK, who's the person who's getting voted out? OK, now I'm there. But I'm going to, you know, get close to that person. The only thing is like, OK, what if they have an idol? OK, you get collateral damage there. But it's not the worst place to be. Rob, you stole my thunder.

[00:25:23] That was going to be my hot take coming into this. Well, then I agree with you, Ben. I don't know. Marry for the win. Marry for the win. You know, we've seen a lot of women in their early 30s, late 20s be successful. I think it's going to continue. I really like Mary going into this. OK. But I think they're going to be disaster, too. So we'll see. We'll see. All right. Well, Ben, thank you for the call. Good luck with the recovery. OK. Thank you. I appreciate it, man. All right. Take care. All right.

[00:25:53] Bye. All right. Let me say hello to Kristen. Kristen F. Hey, Kristen. How are you? Hi. I'm well. How are you? Good. You're not down in the library anymore? Basement. I'm in my own office now. Yes. That way, that was your parents' house, right? Yeah. Yes. My folks. Yeah. So this is exciting. So at the risk of becoming like the map girl, I'm looking at the map again.

[00:26:21] So if you go to Google Maps and you go over and find Mana Island, you can see the airstrip, which becomes Base Camp, right? And so the last picture. Slow, slow. Yeah. That you are on top of that. On Google Maps, you can look up where survivor location was. And what are you seeing? Yeah. So if you go to Mamanukas Islands, as Jeff has told us, you can go and it's pretty easy to figure out where it is.

[00:26:51] There's an island called Mana Island. And on Mana Island, there's an airstrip. And that airstrip becomes the production, like Base Camp. Okay. And the picture that's on Google Maps, when you click the satellite layer. This isn't a spoiler, right? No, no, no, no. Not at all. I will never do that to you. Great. So when you click down on it, the picture that's there is from what looks like either, like it looks like the end of season 47. That's the time frame when they took the picture.

[00:27:19] So I got excited last season when the water challenge I had been looking at on the map appeared. I jumped out of my seat very excited. Now, I've been looking at the Base Camp and there are these really interesting objects that I haven't been able to figure out. You can see there's all sorts of different stuff. There's parts of challenges. There's lumber that they're using. And then there are these interesting shapes, like maybe 20 of them around.

[00:27:46] Um, I believe that what you can see is the Isadega Tribal Council. Oh, Jeff mentioned that they were being built out on the airstrip. You can actually see when they're being built and staged out on the airstrip at the end of 47 as they were getting ready to build for 48. Yeah. I think it's cool. That is pretty cool. Yeah. That's pretty amazing. How often does it update? I don't know. It hasn't updated in the last year or so. Oh, okay.

[00:28:16] So we're really, it's like when we look at the stars, uh, with all due respect to Stephanie, that we're looking at something that happened like billions of years ago. That's what Google Maps is. It shows us what happened about a year ago on Survivor. Can we just stop at the stars though? I don't know. Yeah. Yeah. It does. It shows a moment in time and it's a cool moment in time because it's, it is showing like what, what we're seeing now in the build. So anyway, anyone who's a nerd for that kind of stuff, go take a look. It's kind of fun. Yeah. Okay.

[00:28:45] And how long has it been that way for? Um, it's like I said, it's been about a year, maybe a year ago. I started looking at the maps and really starting to memorize Island locations and et cetera, et cetera. And then just seeing interesting things. Yeah. Do you look at other locations or is it just for Survivor? Oh, just for Survivor. Okay. I wasn't sure if you were like a, like big, like Google Maps head and we're like, looked at like, Oh, I'm tell, let me, here's what's going on at the, uh, pyramids of Egypt today.

[00:29:13] No, I'm the type of Survivor player that if I are fan that if I was ever a player, I would want to be able to know where I was with my, with a blindfold on. So, you know, it's that, that's the kind of crazy prep people are doing. Yeah. You know, they're puzzles I'm doing Google map. Well, if I found the beware advantage clue, you'd be the first person I'd come to, to help me figure it out. Yes. I love it. Okay. All right. Chris, anything else on your mind? That's it. Okay. All right. Cool. I will talk to you soon. Okay.

[00:29:55] I'm good. How are you doing? Doing great. What's happening, Zach? Um, I'm good. Um, I was, uh, just thinking about, um, I saw, uh, a couple of weeks ago, you posted, uh, you had coffee with Kenzie. Yes. And, uh, that made me have, you know, I was like, what a great, you know, to be a fly on the wall, like two sweeties having coffee together. It sounded like she came to my house. Oh, that's amazing. Yeah. She was in Raleigh and she was like, she texted and she's like, Hey, like, uh, I never got to see you after the finale and I'm going to be in Raleigh.

[00:30:25] So are you around? And I got to meet her baby. Yeah. Okay. That's awesome. I love that. She's, um, you know, participating with the fans. Cause I know a lot of people haven't been so nice to her. So that makes, she's one of my favorites. I mean, you're really happy. Yeah. She was dealing with a lot at the time that she ended up, you know, that, that season was very controversial with all of the drama that was going on on social media.

[00:30:50] And she, like, I think it was, you know, it really made the experience, uh, not as fun as, uh, you know, she thought it might be. Yeah. Understandable. It's, it's, yeah, it's scary. Um, so on that note, um, you know, we have the California girls Alliance and this new season. Um, had me wondering, um, if you had to create a North Carolina girls Alliance of your favorite survivors from North Carolina, who would it be?

[00:31:19] You know, probably me, Chase Rice, uh, Jane Bright. They were the original North Carolina Alliance. It's true. It's true. And I saw, I just saw Jane Bright at UNC in a couple of weeks ago. She seems like a sweetie too. Mm-hmm. She seems, uh, based on how she came across on the show at least. Jesse's in North Carolina. So you, and, and, and now Cedric's in South Carolina. Sabaya is in North Carolina. Okay.

[00:31:49] Yeah. Yeah. Uh, a lot of options on this, uh, future all-star season. Yeah. In the last couple of years, North Carolina has really, you know, in the, we've, we've grown. Yeah. Uh, and I hear great things. Uh, my cousin lives over there. She moved out there and she loves it. Yeah. Uh, no, it's, it's a very nice part of the country that we're real. We really like it here. Yeah. I'm from, uh, California, so I would have my pick of the litter, I guess. Yeah. What part, Zach? In the last.

[00:32:19] Um, I'm from the Bay Area, but I live in LA. Oh, cool. Yeah. It's nice. Um, but so, uh, anyway, that's all I had. Um, I just wanted to hear who your North Carolina girls would be. Yeah. Okay. Well, Zach, thank you so much. Okay. Talk to you later. All right. Thank you. Bye. Bye. Okay. We've got on hold, uh, 35 year old Chris is here. 35 year old Chris. Chris, how are you? I'm good. How are you, Rob? Doing very good.

[00:32:47] Now, Chris, why are you 35 year old Chris? Cause it, cause it's old Chris also. Yes. Yeah, exactly. So I didn't want to be young Chris. I'm not really young. Yeah. I'm not old. So I was like, I'll just be 35. Medium Chris. Yes. Okay. Chris, what's on your mind? Yeah. So I wanted to plug a few things, um, for you. Oh, um, I'm, I'm in the BCC chat. Oh yeah. And I have to say it's great. Yeah.

[00:33:14] We've been having a lot of fun and chat BCC, not chat GPT, chat BCC, like a blind carbon copy that there is, um, a founder of this app and he happens to be friends with Sophie and Sophie texts us and said, Hey, that there is a guy I know who's starting up an app. He wants to talk to you guys about doing a survivor chat.

[00:33:41] And so we talked with the founder of the app, Steven and I, and he was like, Hey, can you guys like help us get like a bunch of survivors in here to talk about survivor all week long? Uh, like, uh, like, yeah, sure. Like during the episode, uh, like let people, because really one of the things that I find is that the community is so fractured in terms of like where everybody is posting during things. So we said, okay, well let's, let's work on this.

[00:34:07] And they're also working on something for like, uh, around sports and other reality shows, but they asked us, can you help us get the survivor chat going? And so we invited some people and then a whole bunch of other survivors showed up and really you're, it's really, it's like, you're seeing the group chat of the survivors. And then if you're just coming in, you can, your chat isn't in with the survivors.

[00:34:31] You can respond to what the survivors are saying, but you know, the, everybody it's, uh, it's been a fun, uh, group chat conversation. Yeah. It's been an absolute blast. And it's been this, uh, it's very like free flowing and just very, just interesting and always fun. People are like, uh, you know, teasing. And so it's, it's been fun. If you want the link for that, go to robiswebsite.com slash VIP chat. And it's free. If you want to check that out, not mandatory. Yeah. But I re I recommend it highly.

[00:35:01] So yeah. Thank you, Chris. You're welcome. Rob, I do have a question. Yeah. Um, who do you think is going to be like the Genevieve this season? Who's been pretty quiet. Obviously episode one. So we don't have a lot to go off of. Who's going to be the slow burn. Who's going to come out. Now it doesn't have to be a woman. No, it can be anyone that's kind of been quiet. Obviously David's been kind of like very loud. Yes. Spoken. You get a lot of screen time from him. Yeah.

[00:35:26] May I refer to my notes here of, uh, looking for somebody who maybe was a little quiet in the premiere that is going to, uh, have a big pop later on in the season. Uh, I'm going to say, hmm. And really they, everybody got some airtime in the premiere also. Could it be charity? That's interesting.

[00:35:53] You said that actually wrote charity and star as the two that I'm thinking of. Yeah. I think that charity is the person who I think that people were pretty high on her in the preseason. And then she kind of didn't have much in the first episode. If anything, she had negative content in the first episode. So I wonder if, if somebody that we were not talking about too much right now ends up being a big part of the season, that would be my guess. Yeah. Yeah. I agree with that. So, but yeah, I was, I was curious.

[00:36:23] Um, obviously I think she's in a kind of a bad situation with the Kyle kind of conversations been going on, but I think there's a lot of game left. So a lot can change. Yeah. Okay, cool. Anything else going on, Chris? No, that's it. So thank you, Rob. Great call. Okay. I thank you. All right. Take care. Bye. Bye. Okay. Let me say hello to Joey is here. Joey. Joey, how are you? Hey, Rob.

[00:36:54] Uh, I am doing absolutely terrific. What does your shirt say today, Joey? It says, I am Joey Olberding because that's who I am. This is, uh, this is not a shirt that I made. This is a shirt that was gifted to me by a friend of mine. So it's not really, it's, it's kind of narcissistic, but like I didn't make it. Like I got, this was a surprise gift. So I am Joey Olberding. Yes. Yes. Is that merch? Can other people buy that? No, no. It's, uh, basically one of a kind. So, um, but, but it is one of a kind.

[00:37:24] Um, but it's, it's a great shirt and I wear it once in a while. You should say I am professor Joey. It's not true. I don't have, I don't have a degree. I'm, I'm working on that right now. Not yet. I don't. Um, anyways, uh, I wanted to talk about survivor 48, of course. And I wanted to talk about Stephanie and sort of something we don't often talk about because it doesn't make the edit, which is the pregame sort of, uh, sort of expectations and thoughts on people from other players.

[00:37:53] It's something that we get in the pregame interviews, but something that we don't actually see on television. And I think inevitably was, uh, part of the reason why Stephanie was an outcast on her tribe was the way that she appeared to other people. Um, and I kind of wanted to ask you about your time on the Amazon and how sort of your pregame notions of other people were and how that might've actually impacted the game. If at all. Yeah. Okay. That's an interesting question. Um, let me just, I'm going back to my notes of, uh, what people said about her.

[00:38:20] I remember say did not really like the art lady, uh, she talked about. That's the big one in my mind, since she was such a vocal presence on that tribe. She said about Stephanie that, um, that she was really playing up her artist persona. And I wasn't, I'm not sure if this was in the middle, in the midst of still casting and like finalizing the tribe. So she was trying to play up her persona, but she would fill up water cups to dip, to dip her paintbrushes in and stuff like that.

[00:38:50] And that really bothered say she didn't like that. I will be honest. If I were in the casting process, that would bother me. I think I'd be able to really, we're painting or painting. Yeah, exactly. Um, then on Mary, um, uh, Mary said she didn't like the girl with the hair. Is that also Stephanie? Do you think? I would assume so. I mean, Stephanie does, does seem to have there. I, I also think, you know, I, I, yeah, I think she's such a strong personality, um, that

[00:39:18] I think people inevitably are going to have opinions on her positive or negative, like pretty quickly. Okay. Uh, she reminded me a little bit of Carolyn, but like not, not quite the same. Yes. Uh, Stephanie mixed with Kendra. But Cedric said he liked the tall blonde also. So that, uh, I think that, um, you know, some mixed opinion, but say he felt very strongly as far as me in the Amazon, how did I feel about everybody? Um, I'm trying to think back.

[00:39:43] I remember feeling like I had a lot of, um, imposter syndrome and they, they didn't, that was, that term wasn't invented yet, Joey. Uh, but I can say that looking back, I looked at like the, you know, the guys who look like, Oh, these look like really cool guys. Like the girls look like, Oh, like these are like really, you know, fun people. Like these are like very attractive people. Like what, what am I doing here with this group?

[00:40:13] I think that people that, um, I had good vibes with, I feel like Christie, the aforementioned Christie from survivor, the Amazon who, uh, got named check. I remember like having like a couple of like, uh, smiley moments with her. I feel like that gene, you know, I was very good to, and this comes full circle because I had just finished watching big brother three in the time of survivor of the Amazon.

[00:40:43] And I felt very much like, Hey, that Danielle and Jason, that's what I want to do. I need like to find like an older woman, like, like a mom type that would be, that would be like a really good duo for me. So I was looking at the, and ultimately that person was Dina, but I was looking at like the genes and the Janets and the, you know, people who might've been in, in that spot. So I feel like the gene was somebody I was also like looking at a lot in the preseason.

[00:41:13] Yeah, that, that makes sense. And yeah, you're right. The sort of perceptions of other people do go the other way. In addition to say not liking Stephanie, we got in this episode, uh, Kevin saying to Mary, I really liked you from the very beginning. And it's like, there are two ways to interpret that. Is that the marooning or is that throughout the entire casting process? And I would assume it's the latter. Um, but obviously that's not something that we'll be able to know just from watching the show.

[00:41:38] And the one thing from the survivor, the Amazon pregame that ended up manifesting in the show was that we were like sleeping in this, um, I don't even know what you would call it like this, uh, nature preserve where it was like, uh, basically like all this, like, it was like a tree house that we were in, in the Amazon.

[00:42:04] And we were sleeping on hammocks and Ryan Aiken, the first boot of the season that allegedly Roger RIP said that Ryan would at nighttime go up and down the stairs and, and, and bang his feet so loud. It's just that Ryan was sick. He was like getting sick from the food. He had to get up to go to the bathroom a bunch of times at night and he was making too much noise.

[00:42:32] And Roger like had a real strong dislike towards him from before the game even started because he was making too much noise going up and down the stairs. Yeah. It just goes to show the smallest things can impact your time on survivor. Um, but that's all I had Rob. Uh, thank you for taking my call. Okay, Joey. Talk to you soon. Okay. All right. Bye. Bye. Okay. Let's, let's check in with, um, let's see. How about, uh, Bobby just sat back down.

[00:43:02] Okay. Hey, Bobby, how are you? Fast pass. That was great. Uh, I feel, um, ready and excited to talk about. Yes. Bobby, are you loving season 48 as the number one David super fan? Um, I thought David got a much kinder edit than I was anticipating going into the premiere. And, um, yeah, as a David super fan, I thought he did actually really good.

[00:43:29] That wasn't what I was going to talk about, but I thought he did a great job sharing the clues and looking kind of, maybe he is a little, but I think it's good to show your tribe that you're not scheming behind their back. I think you want to play into what people expect. Yeah. Yeah. I don't think that you could be David and also be a schemer. Um, yeah, I actually felt like David and I are a little bit too similar. I got like, really like, Oh man. Why are you a big nodding Hill person?

[00:43:57] Um, I'm a big, like, what's here are my three questions. I love to ask new people. What are your three questions? Um, I always said, how do you like your burger cooked? Wow. Like, what's your favorite? I describe your perfect burger. What's your favorite color? Cause I'm poor. So why am I talking about cars? And then I always said, if you were an animal, what would you be and why not? What would you want to be? But what would you get out of the burger question? Like, what do you learn about people from the burger question? Okay. So I always said like your colors, like your aura, right?

[00:44:27] Your animal is how you see yourself. So your self perception of yourself is going to be so different than what I see you. Cause I'm a judge on American Idol. Yeah. I feel like your burger really can describe, like, it's like the, it's the look of it all. It's like all made up, right? Like, I feel like my burger personally is like, I like a medium rare burger that is basically like a cowboy burger on a menu sauce. Yeah. Yeah. It's always like a little embarrassing to order for there's like crispy onions and it's

[00:44:57] barbecue sauce instead of ketchup. And I feel like that's the real thing. Like you look at me, you think I'm ketchup. Like I look kind of all American. I seem very like musical theater gay. I'm very Disney gay, but I'm a little bit different. I think I'm sweeter. Um, I'm a little bit zestier. I just put away my shirt that says zesty. Cause I bought it because Franny and I just felt bad. Cause I was going to target after one of these Collins ones. I was like, Franny didn't drop her ball in the individual immunity challenge.

[00:45:26] And then at target, there was a shirt that said zesty. And that was her word to describe herself. Oh wow. We all didn't draft Franny for a winner pick because she was like, zesty is my word. And we're like, okay. Yeah. Bobby, that was so much. There was, there was so much there. Well, I, okay. Well, that's what I want to talk about. That was my question. How am I going to succeed as this flaming homosexual?

[00:45:51] If all we do is gender politics on these shows, I can't handle a single gendered knock on traitors one more week. Like, thank God the show's ending because every time someone knocks, they're like, that's a woman's knock. I'm like, what are we doing here? What's going on? What are we talking about? Is that a big part of the show of who's knocking on the door? Unfortunately, if you watch Rob, yes, it is. Unfortunately, that is a segment utilized every episode and maybe it's camp and maybe I should like not be upset.

[00:46:20] But then I watched Survivor. Yes. Keep it to Survivor. What are you seeing in Survivor that is gender politics? I just feel like, I say knew what she was going to do before she got there. Right. Like she. She knew she wanted to run out of woman. And well, she was in the Mike Bloom interview. I'm pretty sure she's like not to be the girl who wants to work with the men. But yeah, she's reheating Maria's nachos, as the kids would say.

[00:46:43] Like she is like on the green tribe, finding those beta boys, getting targeted in the mid merge. Like she is going to do that game. And I kind of love it because I also all my friends were like, that's you, by the way. That's how we talk to people. Me thinking I'm like Justin, like I'm a friendly. They're like, no, that's how you talk about the game. That's how you talk. Like you turn into that. And I was like, oh, my God, that's crazy.

[00:47:11] So, Bobby, is this the players or this is the show? I think it's the show. I think it's the tribe format. I think you get it as like when there's like big dude, guy, other guy. It's rough being the other guy. Like in a tribe of six, it's rough. Like you have to grow out. Yeah. And so I think like Thomas, for example, I this is my I'm not I don't say I'm not a betting man because my family is like so into gambling.

[00:47:39] But like I think Thomas is going to lose Bianca in that purple tribe. I think star is safe. This is my like I'm calling my shot. Yeah. Moment because they're all such intense gamers that I don't think Shaheen is going to let Thomas have a plus one. If Joe's with Ava and we can't break them up because you look at them and they're like, that's America's team. Right. We can't break that up yet.

[00:48:06] But I'm not going to let you have Bianca if I can't have star. And I know he hasn't claimed star yet, but I'm I'm anticipating a lot of early mess there. I think that that's an interesting point. I don't know necessarily that Shaheen wants star, but I could also see him saying like, well, I don't want you. Why do you get to have your person? Like, OK, I get the Joe and Eva thing. But I'm not going to be able to twist the tribe on. You're supposed to be my person. Like, you know, why do you get another person?

[00:48:36] Yeah, I'm getting like shades. I mean, I'm getting shades of 44 pretty intensely, like an orange tribe that just won't matter until. Well, I had said that I feel like that Bianca was Maddie coded to me right from the second I saw her. Yeah, she's a little more. I always say this is like musical theater energy. Maddie Pamea is like cool girl brat, Charlie XCX energy. This girl's more like Chapel Rhone. She's like in your face.

[00:49:06] That being said, like if I'm on the beach with Bianca, those are my girls. Like those are the people I'm trying to work with, but they are smarter. And but I think Bianca is going to overplay because she said she wants to play a social game. She doesn't realize that she's on the bottom. Yeah. So I think purple is the tribe to watch for fun. I do think green tribes is going to be like. Go to Tropic Council a bunch of times. Yeah. Yes. And we're going to be like, do we want to work with Mary? Do we not? And then not. But I just think it's guys and girls and partners. And it's like. Yeah. All right.

[00:49:36] Well, we'll see. It's only one episode. I know. I know. I'm just saying. Yeah. I'm excited. I loved know-it-alls. I thought it was. That's where Steven's supposed to be. Yes. I loved your comment. And Steven did too, I think, of that you said that Steven, you know, is very self-conscious about the account with 200 followers who might have said the same thing as Steven before he got to say it on the podcast is in his head. Yeah. He's just got a million avenues. And I like when he just. Yeah.

[00:50:04] I've really liked doing the format better the way that we're doing it, where I get to talk to Steven on Wednesday and we get to have that out as sort of like the first word. And I've talked about this on other podcasts where I think it's a tough spot to put some of the players in to be like, all right, hey, let's go. Let's break down the vote. Like, you know, we don't even have time to hear how you're doing. Like, we got to just jump right into it. And then from on like a Thursday, then, you know, I can really take my time with Zach and we can go wherever we want to go.

[00:50:33] And nobody's like, hey, what are you going to talk about this? Yeah. Halfway through that. And it's great. But I'll I'll head out. OK. All right, Bobby. Great to talk to you. OK. All right. Bye, Rob. Bye. OK. Let's go to Derek. OK. Hey, Derek, how are you? What's going on, Rob? How are we doing? I'm doing great. How are you? Oh, not too bad. Happy it's Friday. Yes. OK. Yeah. Friday is here. And what's on your mind?

[00:51:02] Yeah, I was actually going to ask the same question as 35 year old Chris. So I've been jotting some notes to see if I can make something up. OK. But I think, you know, one thing I've been seeing in this first episode was I really like saw a lot of connections between Thomas and John Lovett. Yeah. And I was kind of worried for him because he had a lot of confessionals that were I'm afraid I'm not going to fit in. Right. But he seems to be doing such a better job with it. Right.

[00:51:27] And for whatever reason and in the parallels for them, you know, obviously gay guys, but also L.A. music industry podcasts. Yeah. Not necessarily famous, but, you know, elevated in that sense. Yeah. I was curious what you thought the difference was between them. So I don't know what Thomas's age. I think that there's like the John Lovett thing was a little bit more of like a gender gap. I feel like that John Lovett was the oldest person on his tribe and it was trying to fit in. And he was talking about how he was on the tribe with Sam, who's 24.

[00:51:57] And I think Rachel, I think, is in her like mid 20s. I think Annika is in her mid 20s. And like it was just basically like a young I think maybe the second oldest person on that tribe might have been Andy, who's like in his early 30s. So I think he felt very disconnected in terms of the age gap.

[00:52:17] Also, I think that in terms like physicality, I think that Thomas is a like a more of a physical presence than John. Also in a tribe that maybe needs the physicality less than, you know, to vote out somebody else like an Andy in that spot who I think they were going to be really outgunned. So I think that Thomas had the better social game than John, who's a very funny guy.

[00:52:46] But I just feel like that the social bonds weren't really there with John. And then we saw that Thomas came in and made a, you know, three person alliance pretty early on. And so I think he's just better situated. Yeah, no, I mean, I agree. I think it's it's it's right there. But it's just it's surprising because I think, you know, if, you know, John Lovett was coming to this game and kind of or and or Thomas coming into this game and looking at, you know, Joe and Shaheen. Right. Like he's afraid, like, oh, I'm not going to fit in with them.

[00:53:16] And I feel like John, like almost felt he was going to fit in with the people like he wasn't afraid of that. And he didn't have to, like, overcome that battle, I guess. Yeah, I think the vibes were also better with Thomas in the Ponderosa. A lot of people said they wanted to work with Thomas. People said that they liked him. I don't remember anybody saying that they really liked John Lovett from the preseason. And I think that Thomas really we heard in his confessionals. And I think that Kelly now bandy and had pointed this out on Twitter that he'd say he was really like.

[00:53:47] Giving like different things to different people based off of what he was perceiving they wanted to build social bonds. Right. Yeah. So I think he's off to a good start. Yeah, no, I think so, too. I love that tribe. Yeah, that tribe's great. Yeah. I don't want them to go to, I would feel awful if Star goes out pre-merge. Just because, like, I feel like she'd be great. But so far, she's on the bottom. I feel like they're not going to tribal council anytime soon. Good. Yeah. I'd be very happy with that. Okay. So.

[00:54:18] What else is going on, Derek? Not too much. It's my first time calling in, by the way. Where are you calling from? Boston. Oh. Already got tickets. Yeah. Okay. Have you been to Luigi's Pizzeria? I have not. I have not been up that way, but it's on my list now. I got to go check it out. Okay. I do. I want to see Justin in action and, you know. Okay. Well, Derek, don't be a stranger. Great job with the call. Absolutely. Thanks so much, Rob. Take care. Appreciate it. All right. Bye. Okay.

[00:54:48] Well, let's go to somebody who has been to Luigi's Pizzeria. It's, if you're new to the patron show, we have such a treat for you. It's Mel Hooker. Bing. Oh my God. Yes, Rob. Rob. How are you? Mel, we're twins today. We both have the subscriber shirt. It's only for subscribers. You can't buy the shirt unless you subscribe to the podcast. Yeah. It's only for, you know, people that pay to talk to Rob.

[00:55:18] So, okay. Well, let me, I want to paint you guys a picture, right? Don't tell say. We drive into Ale Life. We get lost in the parking garage. He's from Western New York. He's having a fit. I'm like, let's just get on the train. Oh, the elevator's not working. My husband has knee issues. Anyways, we get on the train, right?

[00:55:41] Anybody that's trying to get to Luigi's Pizza from the red line, you take the red line to the group. Well, no, to the green line, to the orange line, to the blue line, and you get off at Beachmont. So we get off at Beachmont, which is two stops away from the, like, actual beach in Revere, right? Blue line. Never been on it. Real nice. Nice. I think red line, green line, blue line.

[00:56:11] I think I voted for that for the buffs for Survivor 50. Oh, great. Well, there's also the orange line, which you have to get on to get to the blue line. Well, if anybody needs help while you're here in Boston, I'm a subway guru, even when drunk. Anyways, so we get out, and literally the only lights I can see as I step out of the Beachmont T-Stop is Luigi's Pizza. Yeah. And I'm like, cool, right? I walk into this pizza place.

[00:56:40] It is about, like, the counter is the size of the Survivor coffee bar. And the actual- That's not that big? And the seating area is probably, it's smaller than Tribal Council, for sure. Okay. About, there's eight tables that seat four and seven stools. And I'm like, where is everybody? I thought there was, like, a big party. You thought it would be jam-packed.

[00:57:05] Well, come to find out that there was a big party at the Asian place Calhoun's in Medford that 500 people were at, but I'm glad I didn't go. Wait, because they had the party at an Asian restaurant? Yeah, because it was also Justin's 30th birthday. Oh. So, it was so weird, but it was actually better because, so, it was me.

[00:57:31] There was four other people that came down that knew that he was on. Okay. To, like, order pizza and watch and leave. Obviously, I was the only one that was doing a four-hour round trip, so I stayed the whole time. And the woman that was behind the bar, my husband couldn't understand a word she was saying. Heavy Revere accent. Coming out of retirement for that night because the whole family was at Calhoun's. Right. An hour and a half into the show, these two wicked Revereans come in and they're like, oh, we just came from Calhoun's.

[00:58:00] It's, you can't see anything or hear anything or do anything. The food's cold. The pizza's cold. They had Chinese food. I am so happy. Calhoun's is a Chinese restaurant? It's a Chinese restaurant. So, they had 500 people at the Chinese restaurant upstairs watching Survivor. Guess what I got to do? I got to sit with, like, six people. I was the expert Survivor know-it-all of the night. I'm proud of you, Mel. Tried to get some people to join RHAP. Told people about the Boston show.

[00:58:31] You know, also had to explain to this wicked old lady who was just there for Chardonnay and soup with no noodles, like, what the show was. And she was like, which one's Justin? And I'm like, aren't you a regular? Because, like, the only people there were regulars. Like, the people that left, I kid you not, I'm trying to make this fast, but the people that left the Chinese food place came in and then they didn't get pizza, which was their big mistake. Because the steak and cheese wasn't up to the normal standards. Because they had stand-ins for the night.

[00:59:00] Let me tell you, I was there from 7 o'clock to 10, 10 p.m. And it was the greatest three hours of my life. Wow. The pizza, phenomenal. My husband's only qualm is that they don't have honey mustard. What did you want to put honey mustard on? On the onion rings. Okay. I don't know. But anyways, this is my swag pack. All I said was- Here, let me go full frame on Mel. Okay. So this is my Survivor Series.

[00:59:29] And it says, it says, Justin's 30th birthday, Survivor premiere. I got my proof. I got my, you know, my Luigi's pizza. Menu, yeah. Delicious. I saw some of the pasta dishes come out. They looked phenomenal. Okay. The sun shades. And then I had a pen, but I had to drive to my friend's house 10 minutes away because my Wi-Fi was cutting out, hence the weird background. So I'm actually in Lemonsta today. Okay.

[00:59:59] So you didn't get to meet Justin, but you met somebody who came out of retirement to work there and everybody knew who he was. And I met people that like know his family because they said like, that was crazy. Mel, would you go back? Oh my God, 100%. Even though it was four hours to get there. Well, it was like- Round trip. Technically, it might've been like three and a half, but my husband walks really slow. If it was just me, it would've taken three hours round trip, no qualms.

[01:00:27] And I did look up, if anybody wants to go while they're in Boston, it's only for a round trip T ticket. It's four bucks. And it's only about eight stops away from Park Place, which is where the hotel is. Okay. So, um, and it's right there. Sorry. I, it was crazy. So Sam was very far away from where we're going to be. Well, if you're trying to like walk or Uber, but if you like understand how the Charlie-

[01:00:57] Okay. So you can, might be able to lead the people on mass transit to go. I would love to be the person, like what is the pilgrimage to Luigi's? Like, can I lead, you know, do I have to carry a cross? Follow you into hell. A giant pizza on a stick or something. Mm-hmm. You know? Yeah. You need the Justin pizza shirt and everybody follows you. Oh, oh, fun fact. They just put out a thing. You can go. They're promoting going there.

[01:01:24] Also, I'm glad I went because everybody that went to the other party didn't even give money to Luigi's. Yeah. You know, I'm like, at least with this, you know, I know Kenzie didn't like people showing up at her work. I think the pizza place likes it. They love it. They love it and they want you to go and they have pizza hats. They have pizza shirts. They have pizza baseball caps, beanies. They're like capitalizing on this. Yeah. And I don't think Kenzie would have minded if people were coming in to get their haircut. I think that people were just coming in and loitering.

[01:01:54] Right. A hundred percent. So did I meet Justin? No. But did I have delicious pizza? Yes. Would I go back to Luigi's? A hundred million percent. What kind did you have? I got their award winning plain cheese pizza. Okay. And it's really hard. I'm very critical of cheese pizza. My husband doesn't even like crust and he ate all the crust. Wow. Even without honey mustard? Even without the honey mustard. It's pretty good. I know. Okay. Oh, I'm exhausted, man.

[01:02:24] Well, Mel, thank you for telling us that story. I'm so happy. They said, yes, they sell the pizza shirt in the same color that he has it. FYI. So yeah. How much? How much for the pizza shirt? I think it was, it's like the same as an RHAP shirt. With like 20 bucks? Yeah. Yeah. Pretty good. So, I mean, I'd rather have an RHAP shirt, but you know. Yeah. And your husband was as into the show as you were? He was actually upset because there were some, also some people there that were like not there to watch. And he was like, he has bad hearing.

[01:02:54] And he was like, I can't hear what's happening. And he was too scared to ask the lady to put the captions on. And I was like, I'm talking to everyone. I'm rewatching. I had to rewatch the episode, obviously. Okay. All right. Well, thank you for the story. Okay. Anytime. I'll show. I don't know if I'll be back to call again soon, but I'll see everybody in Boston and I'll bring my survivor. Why? What do you have going on? Well, I'm hopefully going to have a waitressing or bartending job at some point.

[01:03:23] So they meet me on Friday. You might not be around on Fridays. You know, you know. Okay. All right. Take care, Mel. Okay. Thank you, Robbie. Bye. Okay. All right. Speaking of not being around, next Friday, I am going to be going off to South by Southwest and I'm going to have a fill in host for me on the Q and A. So we're going to keep the time. Sam, I can say this.

[01:03:50] I can talk about this, but filling in for me next week, we have a treat for you. What? Just in the chat. Just the one name. Just want to make sure you don't say two names. Yeah, I got it. I got this. Okay. Owen Knight is going to fill in for me next week. So Q and A with Owen next Friday while I'm going to be off to South by Southwest. I'm speaking on a panel. I've never been there before. So looking forward to that. So I'm going to be out next weekend.

[01:04:17] I think that's the only podcast that's going to be affected is the Q and A next week. And then I'll be back here in this spot in two weeks time on Friday. But Owen will be taking your calls next Friday. All right. Let's go to Marietta. Marietta, how have you been? Hi, Rob. I'm so happy to talk to you again. So happy to talk to you. How have you been up to? I'm doing drama school. So it's been taking a lot of time.

[01:04:48] Yeah, it's a change in my direction, but I wanted to do it. So I took a risk. Yes. And you're still in Greece? Yes, I'm still in Greece. Okay. All right. But, you know, theater was born in Greece. So that's good. Yes. Okay. So what's on your mind, Marietta? How can I follow Mel? Well, that was an epic call. Well, yeah. We just have to, you know. Someone has to do it. Somebody has to. Right. Someone has to be voted out first, like Stephanie said. That's what Stephanie said.

[01:05:17] And someone has to. Yes, exactly. So a couple things. So since I am in Greece, I want to implore and ask for all the patrons that will hear this call. I'm not able to vote on the Survivor 15. Oh, yes. Okay. So you want people to execute on your vision? Okay. So what do you want to campaign for? Well, pretty much the basics, which is please live finale. Yeah. I don't want to see. I don't think that you have to worry about that one.

[01:05:47] I can't imagine anybody's like, oh, I actually like it when they eat the pizza. Yeah. I mean, the reveal that the idol wasn't real. Mm-hmm. It's good. I mean. Yes. We don't see the reactions either way. Plus some very big drama moments have happened on live finale. Um, also, uh, I want to campaign for the, um, two tribes. If it's an option. I'm not sure if it will be an option. Yes.

[01:06:14] I don't think many people care about that a lot. The three tribe or two tribe format. Mm-hmm. I feel like we've gotten a lot of three tribes and I feel like it's gotten pretty stagnant. Yeah. So. I agree. I would love to see two tribes, but I know that I feel like that there are really locked in on three tribes. Do you really think so? I, I think so. We'll see. I mean, I guess it could be that with the, because there's three colors, it could be two

[01:06:42] tribes and emerge and emerge, uh, tribe. Yeah. Maybe. And also the other thing, I don't think they will put on the ballot, but if it is, uh, the 39 days, I wanted to go back to 39 days. No, I know Jeff said this week though, they're not going to do that. They're not going to do it. Oh. Yeah. Okay. Um, so that was the one thing. Uh, the other thing I wanted to ask you and please be honest with me. And if you've discussed this, I'm not, I haven't caught up to the noodles yet because I just watched the episode.

[01:07:11] Um, I, and please don't judge me. I eat my steak medium well. Okay. All right. Does that make me a psychopath? So I've been thinking a lot about this cause that came up, uh, I think it was a sociopath, uh, who has a, um, so now do you put any sort of like steak sauce on there or like a barbecue sauce like Bobby? And now say this is a culture thing in Greece.

[01:07:40] We eat it pretty plain without sauces. Yeah. We have good meat here. Good meat. And I look, I have no judgment. I mean, that's not, I think my father-in-law is also very much in the, like, uh, he wants it cooked very well and my sister-in-law. So, whereas, uh, my mother-in-law used to say, I want it to still be mooing. Yeah. That's my dad. Mm-hmm. So why am I so super?

[01:08:05] If I like, I don't feel like, okay, that's very, I don't know that that's, that's, I guess you're looks let your freak flag fly. They say fly, fly the freak flag. Hi. That's, I accept people who eat their steak any different way. I feel seen and accepted. Yeah.

[01:08:29] So yeah, I think it's okay, but maybe, I don't know, like, um, you, that maybe to answer the question, like maybe just like say, if you're not actually ordering the food, maybe just say medium. Yeah. Okay. Because if people are going to judge over. Okay. You mean if I ever get a, if you ever get the steak or burger question. Yeah. Just play it safe. Yeah. Okay. If you're not actually ordering the food.

[01:08:59] They'll judge me on the burger question because I ate the burger pretty plain, like just the meat and cheese. Yeah. That's like how my sons want it. Okay. Yes. Um, it's a kid's menu version. I get that. Yeah. Uh, and I had another thought. I, Justin reminded me of someone. Yes. Who? And well, I'm not saying he reminded me totally of that someone because that someone had also

[01:09:27] a bit of controversy, controversy linked to them, but like the face, the vibe, the pizza. McCray. Okay. I can see that. Um, yeah, well, I, that, uh, McCray, that, uh, I'm just trying to think it through in my head and yeah, he has longer hair than McCray. Go with it. Yeah. Yeah. A pizza boy. Yes. Yeah.

[01:09:51] He said to Mike that, um, his hair was shorter and, uh, he let it out after the barber thing. Yeah. I can say, I feel like McCray was a little bit goofier than Justin who went to Yale, who is like, seemed like a little bit more straight laced, but yeah, I could see the look. Certainly. Yeah. He doesn't give off VA vibes and that's totally a stereotype. I think that's good. Yes.

[01:10:15] That is good for him, but I can be, I can see him also being that kind of like laid back social, I'm gonna let them eat themselves kind of. Now, do you think that he'll find the showmance like McCray? Ooh, who could be the Amanda without the controversy? Hopefully. Um, I don't know. I don't know. Maybe if not Mary, then, uh, I don't know.

[01:10:42] I don't see say, I mean, if somebody in the other tribes, maybe like say, say, say, I'm not sure. Yeah. Yes. Okay. Say. I mean, look, I'd ship it. That'd be wild. Um, but yeah, overall it was a very good premiere. I had a lot of fun watching it. Um, yeah. Do you remember all the names yet? Yeah. It's only week one. I don't want to give people too much homework.

[01:11:10] No, you see, I've, um, I watched the draft and the preseason interviews with Mike and those were a lot of fun. Um, also I'm hoping that the Amazon shout out and the clip from the, uh, from the premiere holds well for your chances for 50. I don't know. I hope you've gotten the call. From your lips to God's ears. I hope you've gotten the call. I hope you're, uh, you're going back there. I'll be waiting. Yes. We'll bear it. We'll have a season without you.

[01:11:39] Maybe, maybe, maybe. That'd be exciting. That'd be exciting. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. She got out. She got out. She got out. She got out. She got out. She got out. She got out. Because of herself. Because of herself. Okay. She's on the record show. Record show. All she had to do was say, Rob, I'm with you. I'm with you. That's it. That's it. Let's go. Let's go. We'll be out there. We'll be out there. We'll be out there. We'll be rivals.

[01:12:10] Rivals? I don't think so. I don't think so. We'll be rivals. We'll be rivals. You know what? I have such good relationships with people. I don't have any rivals. Yeah, but you have to market it, though. Mm-hmm. It's a rival. I have to play it up. Shoot. Shoot. Yeah. So, I, who's, who's my, chat, who's my rival? I don't know. Okay. Okay. Okay.

[01:12:39] Spencer Pratt, Michael says. Maybe. Oh, Mike White. Yes. It would make me one interview to a cannon. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Steven. So, all right. Marietta, thank you so much. Okay. Thank you, also. Glad to hear you back. I feel like it's been years since we got into the talk. Okay. Don't be dramatic. It hasn't been a year. When did we last talk? I feel like we talked last season. In Big Brother? We talked during Survivor? No, last Survivor season, I feel like. Okay.

[01:13:09] Okay. It's been a bit more difficult to watch it live, so that's why I watch all the things. I want to reassure everyone I'm a bit more laid back in the participating. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Because I can't catch it live. Okay. All right. Marietta, thank you so much. Okay? Love you all. All right. Take care. Bye. All right. Let's go to Tanner. Tanner, how are you? I'm good, Rob. How are you doing today? Doing great. What's happening? Nothing much.

[01:13:39] I enjoyed the premiere. It was a good premiere. Good way to start out the season, that's for sure. Yeah, it was a fun start. I mean, I don't think it was like earth shattering. I think that probably like in terms of like ranking the premieres, I think probably the 47 premiere, I think was better. I think so too. I think it probably was also the four and I think maybe the 46 premiere might have been better also. And just say that, not to say that this was bad, but I think you had like a Jelinski

[01:14:05] and everything in the 46 premiere and you had Andy's meltdown. So I think it's probably for me third out of the last three, but you know, still good. Better than 45. Yeah. Yes. Anything is better than 45 at this point. Yeah. But I think this was, you know, a very good new era premiere. Yeah. Cause nothing too crazy happened, but it wasn't like boring either. You know? Yeah. Yeah.

[01:14:34] It wasn't like, uh, you know, the, the tribal council wasn't like an all timer or anything like that. I think if say God voted out with the idol, I think it's like completely different, but you know, it was a great introduction to everybody. Yeah, for sure. People are asking what's your buff in the chat. Uh, it's the merge buff for last season. Okay. Nobody guessed that. I, I, I, yeah, but I have a couple, couple of quick questions. Um, first I, I did, I did feel really bad that Stephanie went out first. I think she got really unlucky with the tribe that she got put on.

[01:15:04] I feel like if, uh, she had got put on a tribe like log. Yeah. I think she would have had a better results, but, uh, you know, she got put on a tribe that was physically weaker than the other two. And also it didn't help that she got put on a tribe would say who she had, uh, a little bit of beef with in the pregame. Hey, but that's survivor baby. You know? Yeah. I almost wonder like what, I almost wonder like if the outcome would have been different if say's idol had not come into play.

[01:15:34] Like, do you think that Kevin and Justin would have made the same choice had say not found the idol and had Justin, Kevin not found out about her idol? Yeah. I think potentially because that I think said they said Cedric was very much want to stick with say, because she had the idol. And so I think that they did not want to burn Cedric. Yeah. And I also think it's, it's, it's so risky to, to shoot, uh, to take a shot at someone with

[01:15:59] an idol that early on, especially when say is proven to be like such a aggressive player and, you know, coming out of the gates blazing. And so she came in hot and, and I didn't feel super hot on social media too. Yeah. I didn't feel super great about say during the pregame and her premiere episode did not make me feel that much better, but we'll see, but we'll see with her. She is making a lot of drama.

[01:16:25] So she is, I am thankful for say, uh, yes, we, I'm thrilled that she's here too. She's going to make, I think she's going to make good TV however long she lasts. But my other question centers around the loggy tribe and the California girls, because obviously Shaheen Thomas and Joe, they're a type three right now, but they also have their side deals and they're kind of debating about who they want to bring in as their fourth. Thomas wants Bianca, but, but Joe really wants Eva.

[01:16:52] So my question to you is if you're in, if you're in that California girls alliance, which of those two girls would you find more valuable to keep around as a, as a, as the fourth? I think that it's different for all the different guys. I think, I think it's certainly Joe wants to keep Eva. I think Thomas wants to keep Bianca. We don't really know what Shaheen wants to do. Yeah. That's the, that's the thing. Like it's, I can't really get a good read on what Shaheen wants.

[01:17:22] Like does, does I kind of have a feeling that he might like Eva more based on the fact that, you know, Bianca wasn't really like a part of that. Like, uh, yeah, I'm trying to see what did you say in the preseason? Let me go back to Shaheen and, uh, Shaheen said as I flipped through my index cards, uh, that he, let's see, who did he like? He liked Santa Barbie.

[01:17:51] I think that was, uh, or that, no, he said, no, that was no good. He liked Joe and I don't know. I'm trying to think of who else. Uh, he liked Captain America and he liked Mary. Captain America would be David, David, right? Yes. Yeah. Um, and the smallest person, I'm not sure if that's, uh, maybe Bianca. So yeah, I don't really have a, a, a clear sense of who he loves.

[01:18:21] Yeah. Um, I do appreciate Steven giving the fishy to Eva though. That was a very, that was a, that was a well-deserved fishy right there. Yes. Steven made some good points. Yeah. I, I, I know this is early, but I see even Joe going very, very far together because that, that type of bonding right there, that can carry you a very long way in the game. So I think that was good. That was good for them. Mm hmm. Yeah. Okay. We'll see. Yeah.

[01:18:51] Um, but if not Tanner, the amazing race is calling. Yes. Uh, that'd actually be a really good amazing race pair. Uh, yummy. Yeah. Got me excited now. Yeah. But, uh, 39, here we come. Yeah. But I know I have to wrap up here, so, uh, I'll go ahead and go. And you have other people to call. So, um, I'll talk to you next. I'll, I'll talk to Owen. I'm getting ready. I'm excited to talk to Owen next week. So. All right. Looking forward to it Tanner. Take care. Have a good one. Bye. All right. You too. Bye. Okay.

[01:19:19] Uh, let's go to, okay. Steven has, uh, some props. Okay. Steven, how are you? Hey Rob, how's it going? It's going great. What's happening? Nothing much. Like, uh, like past people have said, it's Friday. TGIF. TGIF. Yeah. And, uh, I just want to say now here's the guy who, unlike Shohin was so excited for the premiere of season 48 that I forgot to eat my own lunch. Yes. Yes. There you go.

[01:19:48] Anyway, Rob, one of the first things I want to say to you, I have a question. I got a little prediction and then to close it out as always, like I like to do, who's going to get the next episode title. Okay. Question. First prediction title. Okay. Who to you. I know we had a lot of like predictions based on the preseason interviews with Mike White, the bios. Mike Bloom. But based on Mike Bloom, not Mike White, Mike Bloom.

[01:20:15] Who to you was the most surprising, uh, cast away from the premiere? Who exceeded expectations from the premiere? Good question. To me, hmm. Hmm. Who is, uh, the person? I think it might be say, I think, was an even bigger personality than I would have thought.

[01:20:42] I didn't see say going out and finding the idol and then really dictating the tribe vote. So I think it's say, otherwise I feel like that we had everybody else clocked pretty well. If anything, there were a few people that were more quiet than we thought like charity. But I think that say was the person that probably did a lot more than I was expecting. Yeah. And shout out, shout out Rob's fact checker, survivor fact checker.

[01:21:08] He posted today or yesterday say had the most confessionals in an episode with 21, but Tony still holds the record for most confessionals in a 60 minute episode. Okay. 18. I'm not sure. Yeah. Don't, don't fact check me on that one. Uh, what was it? The, the, uh, what, what are they? What did they do to Tony? The, the blackmail. I forget what they, what they call that. Oh, the extortion. I'm being extorted. Yeah. Yeah. Extortion bro.

[01:21:38] Sure. For me, I have two. I want to highlight just cause Joe, Joe was going to seem like a big leader and his tribe. And I want to give his kudos to how he handled not only Eva's relationship, but also the California girls. What a great, what a great tribal or what a great Alliance name that was. But two people that stuck out to me, Cedric, Cedric started from the bottom. Now we're here. I can't believe I, I didn't think he was going to have this much, uh, agency or influence. I thought Cedric had a quiet premiere.

[01:22:08] He had a quiet premiere, but if you look through the fine details, Rob, he helps say dramatically with the idol. He cracks that code literally immediately before he even writes down the sixth letter. He gets, listen, he helps say, I guess the idol. And also he just is a, is a calm voice of reason in the tribe. I see him actually now making it to merge. I didn't think he would make it to the merge preseason, but played off really strongly. I think he's in a good spot. I can't see the guys turning on him. I can't see say wanting him out. So I feel like that Cedric is pretty well insulated. Yeah.

[01:22:38] And then the other person I want to give kudos to is Thomas on loggy. He actually comes up with the name for California girls. Yeah. And despite his preseason expectations, he's in that alliance with two other guys and he has Bianca as a close number one. So let's see if he can keep beyond Bianca close to him, uh, past like a first tribal or not, but he was amazing. Great social game strategically places himself in that three and also just great comic relief with the weakest link, uh, confessional.

[01:23:06] And also what he says in passing to Bianca about this is a building of shelters. Maybe the kinkier things I've done with two guys. That was hilarious, but that's all I wanted to say. Those two were especially surprising to me. Unlike beard guy. Like I knew coming into the season, beard guy was going to have quotes. He was going to have gameplay. That's going to be exciting to watch an ounce of preparation saves a pound of perspiration. I'm going to save that in my own book in my real life. Yeah.

[01:23:32] But, uh, just to give a little scouting report here, maybe somebody that didn't have the biggest premiere. And I, I forget the patron who said this, maybe Ben, um, but who was the Genevieve, right? Yeah. Who's going to be the Genevieve of the season. Get the props out here, baby. You think it's got Justin. Yeah. Now Luigi, baby. Now Luigi, but Justin got the pizza wheel, the pizza peel, the big pizza wheel. Hey, we gotta, you gotta, you gotta come in track. Yeah.

[01:24:02] I thought he, and he was my winner pick, but, uh, yeah, I thought he had kind of a quiet premiere, especially for a tribe that went to tribal council. He has a quiet premiere, but listen, like how he's strategically placed. He's with Kevin in the middle. Mm-hmm. He's dictating which way he wants to go. And sometimes you need to have a little bit more quiet of a premiere to let your rest of your game speak to the, to the fans later on. We'll see. He was really hitting the references to the restaurant pretty hard. Very heavy on that. Was he taking inventory?

[01:24:30] What is he making combinations of different slices, but it's all, it's all fun in the game. And Sam's telling me to wrap up here. So Rob episode two, the title is humble traits. Do you have any predictions on who's going to say humble traits? Who has humble traits? Um, hmm. Nobody is jumping to mind. Uh, but I'm going to guess David.

[01:24:58] David talking about himself or talking about himself, but maybe tongue in cheek. So I actually took this in the opposite way where it's going to be somebody sarcastically talking about someone else. I can easily see Vula, maybe going back to tribal council and we get one of the guys, maybe Cedric or Justin or Kevin talking about maybe say, mm-hmm and how she's very over the top with wanting to speak her mind. And that maybe sometimes that mind gets her into trouble. Yeah. But I can also see Shohin.

[01:25:27] They predicted or they, they led this in the, uh, next time on survivor that there's some, maybe like some mischief going on and loggy. Um, maybe Shohin's talking about star looking for the idol when she doesn't necessarily need to. Maybe we'll see. I didn't really look at the next time on too closely yet. Yeah. So that's speculation for another day. All right. Other questions I have, people can, you know, I've already spoken about or answer in the future, but Rob, fantastic. Get the chance to talk to you again.

[01:25:56] Always great, Steven and have a great weekend. Okay. You too. Thank you. Okay. All right. Let's go to Tommy Guam is here. Tommy, Tommy, how are you? Good. How you doing, buddy? We were in the classic. I love New York. Come on, Rob. No, I love Guam. I love myself. Right, Rob? Yeah. Okay. Uh, how's it going? All right. Nothing. I feel like this is in a different room than you normally call me from. So this is my living room behind me.

[01:26:25] I usually call you from in there, but the wife's working right there. She's working. Okay. Yeah. Yes. How's your day going? It's doing good. Now that it's Friday, I'm home. So it's good. Uh, so I talk a little survival. Right, Rob? Uh, I miss you at the beach drop. I was so much fun. I went to the, uh, you were there early. Yeah. I was there from noon to one. Uh, yeah, I got there. I took up my flight from, uh, Raleigh. Uh, my flight was like at 10 ish. I left my house like eight 30. Uh, I love the Raleigh airport. Nice medium sized airport.

[01:26:54] I got to like, uh, I went, I went to the air train at Penn station. I was like, uh, should I go check in at the hotel? Like Sam and Brandon were like, no, just come right here. Yeah. I saw Brandon dial. I saw Sam. I got there at like one 30. That's not, oh yeah. I must've just missed that because we got out of here one. Then we just went to get something to eat and have a drink. And then I got there and there's like a whole line of people. And I was like, do I need to go on the line? Right in the middle. Right.

[01:27:21] And then they were like, uh, they got the girl was like, uh, I'm sorry. Who are you? I'm like, my name is Rob. I was, I was on the show like a very long time ago, but I was like, do I need to go on the line? Like, uh, and then like she didn't know anything about like, uh, but I was, I, I was on the show. Uh, and then finally somebody came out and then they looked at like the names and, and Dwight, uh, more was with me. I was like, and then he's with me also. So here's Dwight.

[01:27:50] And we, they got us in. That's it. That's good. Well, I was going, I was online. I was like right at the front and Mary was there. She's like, uh, I'm trying to get in. They wouldn't let her. I was like, no, she's on the show. That's Marian. She's like, how do you know I am? You know? Cause we haven't even seen her on TV yet at the time. So it was funny. Who'd you talk to? Everybody? Uh, I talked to, uh, I talked to a few people. I talked to Mary. I talked to Shaheen. Right. Shaheen. A couple other people. Um, but I thought, I mean, the highlight was seeing a Sandra and Tony though, for me,

[01:28:20] I really enjoyed seeing them. Yeah. So that was great. As soon as I walked in, I saw Tony. I was like, Oh, I was, that was surprising. You know? So there was a big life. And I did somebody a couple, I did the challenge, the, uh, the rollerball challenge. So that was fun. Yeah. Tony had me crying at one point. He was doing like a Carolyn impression, but his Carolyn impression was like when he does the llama. He's like, Ooh, Ooh, Ooh, Ooh. Yeah. Yeah. No, that was, uh, Tony's funny. Tony's a good guy. Yeah. He really got a little, it was really nice and personable and everything. So cute. He was there.

[01:28:49] So it was just fun. Uh, so I saw three there, but she, they shuffled the right body. All it is. Like nobody even seen her came in. It was just so funny. I heard a voice. She was taking pictures with people. Yeah. She came out. She came right when we were leaving pretty much. Yeah. Um, yeah, that was really fun though. Uh, if I said, I suggest if anybody, uh, if that's in everybody's area, go check it out. It's really fun time. but, uh, let's talk some new survivor. Rob, uh, is there a difference between what saved it and what net a little Australian survivors, but a nest.

[01:29:19] So, um, say didn't wear the idol. So he didn't come out and say like, uh, I have the idol everybody and say, I think did a better job than Nash was doing. And this is only the first episode. I'm, I'm only, I haven't seen the second week of Australian survivor catch up, but yeah. So I think that, um, there was much more pushback against Nash than say, yeah, without a doubt. It was just same. It was kind of the same situation. Does everybody, did Marion Stephanie know that say has the idol? I don't think so.

[01:29:49] Yeah. I wonder if anybody told them, you know, but yeah, I just thought that would be a funny comparison a little bit, you know, cause it kind of the same situation almost. I think if maybe there was a bigger, uh, tribe that say wouldn't have gotten away with it though. You know? Yeah. I think that that in those small tribes, where one person has an idol, we saw this was Rome last season. What do you do? Like, uh, it's like, there's no other, no other moves to make. Yeah, exactly. So I think, uh, that's another reason to get rid of a smaller. It's shot in the dark time. Yeah. Yeah.

[01:30:19] So I think that Stephanie played it right, but yeah, there's not a ton of other things you can try to do. If you're in a 10 person tribe and say is being like that, all right, well, who else is say closer? Yeah, exactly. Exactly. See you later. Cedric. Sorry, you know, but whatever it is, you know? Yeah. Uh, actually I was really impressed with Cedric too, though, as Steven was saying, I thought Cedric had a good episode, just calm demeanor and everything like that, you know, helped, helped say guide her, guide her away. And I think that, I think those three guys could actually get together a little bit too on that job.

[01:30:49] But I really do love the California girls. I think that's a great tribe. Yeah. I think, I think, uh, that, that, that's going to be a good, uh, alliance. What else we got going on? Um, uh, I was driving home. I'm really worried about Mary. Like I said, I met Mary. Mary was great. Great personality. She's a little firecracker. Amazing person. Um, I had the same Winnipeg as you. I gotta, I gotta listen to the back and hear Mel Hook's story about the whole show and, uh, to Luigi's Pizza. I just caught the tail end of it. So it doesn't sound like she really made it there. I don't even know what's going on. She did make it.

[01:31:18] All right. All right. I wasn't sure where she was. Mm-hmm. Um, what else? And then, uh, Josh Kettle's story. I caught that a little bit. I just want to shout out to Josh Kettle. He's a great person. Does great stuff. So, uh, yeah. You know, it was a moment for him. And it's funny how Survivor touches people and stuff like that. So just, you know, and Josh is a good dude. So yeah, that's about it. I'm going to see you in a month about Rob. Okay. Well, I'm sure we'll talk before then. Yeah. Without a doubt. I don't want to stand and yell at me. So. Okay. All right. Tommy, thank you so much. Okay. You have a good day, Rob. Take care.

[01:31:49] Okay. Let me go to Michael who's in the car. Hey, Michael. How are you? I'm doing great. How are you? Doing, uh, fantastic, Michael. What's happening? Well, I love the premiere. Great season so far. Love the cast. Um, so I had a question that, um, that Brando had brought up in the chat BCC. Yes. What'd he say? So he was asking about the, uh, beware advantages about how each tribe, it feels like has a different

[01:32:19] puzzle that they have to do. And whether that's actually fair or not, because it gives each tribe potentially a different chance of having an idol at the merge. If one puzzles harder than the other, or, you know, if they're, if they're just different in some way. And I wanted to know what you thought about that. Yeah. So I think I heard Jeff talk about this on, on fire and he talked about how, you know, team Flint is the group that does that.

[01:32:45] And I think Jimmy Quigley, I think is the person who was on the panel, uh, who is talking about like what like team Flint makes up these, uh, missions for the episodes of like finding the idols that they do. And so I think that what he said was they wanted a thing that was going to be that they could do different variations of for each tribe. So basically each tribe would have a similar mission, but it wouldn't be the same exact thing

[01:33:15] for the viewer to watch three times. So I don't know if things are like much harder. Like, I think it's basically like three different flavors of the same type of thing. And so maybe one is a little bit harder than, than the other version, but it shouldn't be much harder than what the other tribes are doing. Yeah. I think I like the fact that they're different slightly because it's not just watching the same thing over and over again. Like we saw, I think it was like in the early forties.

[01:33:43] I feel like we had that where we just kept for each tribe watching the bead thing and like all this stuff, the same thing over and over again. So I like the fact that it's different. So as long as it's the same difficulty level, give or take. I think it's this, hopefully the same difficulty level, but slightly different. And you saw from, it seemed like that the, um, uh, purple tribe didn't really get into it. They seemed like, or at least that wasn't part of their story. The orange tribe, we saw them uncovering, uh, there were animal symbols, but there were

[01:34:13] also letters that they were finding. So that's like a little bit different than what we saw from, uh, having to deal with, uh, what say found where she had the, the cryptogram. I don't know if that's even the right word for what she had, but that, that the animal symbols were painted on things, but there were no letters painted on things. Yeah. And it seems like, I think with the orange tribe, all the letters are the same color are all black. It's all black.

[01:34:40] So it seems like it's going to be a similar sort of like figure out the letters and then unscramble the word. But I think that maybe the animal symbols are, you know, are, are adding something like, like maybe they have like some sort of combination lock where the animal symbols are like what they have to put them in the right order. Yeah. And I liked the game. At least the one that we saw, um, with the green tribe, I really liked it. I, I liked the fact that now it's a lot harder. It seems like to get an idol.

[01:35:08] And I feel like there was a time when the Russell hands days where it was so easy. And I think it needs to be like a team effort. I don't know if you'd be able to do what say did just by yourself. Yeah. And I, and I liked that too. And I liked that she had to go all the way around camp and run around everywhere. Cause you know, there's some risk involved. You need to have cover to be able to pull this off. Yeah. So I liked it. And yeah, I agree with you. I think that it'll be fun to see what the other games are that they have to, the other tribes have to do. And, uh, yeah, I enjoyed the premiere. Cool.

[01:35:39] How's everything else going for you? Everything is great. Just living life and working. And that's why I'm in my car. Just kind of step out for a second to, to come talk to you while, while I had the chance, since it'll be a couple of weeks. Okay. All right. Well, Michael, have a great weekend and, uh, hopefully, uh, not too many weeks. Okay. Yes. All right. Thank you. Love you, bae. Love you, bae. Okay. All right. And then I've got Jake on hold. Jake.

[01:36:22] I'm not going to be here. I'm not going to be here. I'm not going to be here. All right. I've been a patron for like four years. Yes. University student. I don't have time to call into these shows usually on Friday, but I'm studying right now for midterm. And I saw you go live and I was like, you know what? I'm going to have fun in the background. Jake, uh, where do you, do you go to school? I go to Binghamton. Oh, okay. And that, uh, yes. Uh, similar to myself.

[01:36:49] We went to the, they call it now Oswego state university. Oh, I've heard of it. I've heard of it. And let's know this. I just accepted a job offer right by your old stomping grounds at Hicksville, Long Island. Oh, okay. Nice. I know, right? Yeah. Pretty crazy. Um, but this is probably the quickest call in you're going to have today. I don't really have a question. It's more of like an overall suggestion I have for the subtitle of survivor 50. Okay. In the hands of the fans is way too wordy. I'm not on board. You don't like that.

[01:37:19] Yeah. I'm not on board. So I've, I've come up with something instead. So you've probably seen a line when we're abbreviating titles for seasons, we go Island of the Idols, IOI, right? So some people even call it survivor IOI, things like that. Survivor 50. I think everyone needs to get on the bandwagon of calling it Survivor 50. IHOP. You drop all the duds just like you do for Island of the Idols. Yeah. Write this down. Write this down. In the hands of the fans. I, I, I, HOP. IHOP.

[01:37:49] Like IHOP. Yeah. But, uh, hand. So you want to go drop in the. Yes. And then. Oh, no, no, no, no. In hands of fans. We're just dropping the the. Okay. Like we do for Island of the Idols, IOI. You drop the the. You drop the the. Keep the hands of the fans. Keep the four. Drop the one. Exactly. Uh, IHOP. Hmm. Survivor IHOP. Survivor 50 IHOP. Listen, it's, it's so much worse. I do think it's a little wordy. Right? Mm-hmm. We need, we need some sort of solution.

[01:38:17] And if it's not that I'm open to other ideas, but nobody I feel like is tackling this problem face on. So I figured I'd be the first one. What do you think of something like more like survive, like survivor, like people's choice? Yeah. I mean, that's fine. That's fine. Something like that. Mm-hmm. I, I don't know. I don't know. That's all I got. Yeah. Okay. I feel like that we could like survivor tally the votes. Like, what do you think of that? Like. That's good. Yeah. That's perfect. That's something.

[01:38:45] You need to call Jeff right now. Like, maybe it's not too late. Yeah. It can't be eye-off if I'm willing to, to concede for, uh. Survivor 50, tally the votes, you know? Ah, fine. All right. Well, thanks for all. Jake, get back to studying, okay? All right, I will. All right. All right. Bye. Okay. All right. Uh, Angie is here. Angie, how are you? I look like an old lady. I'm good. Well, we could, we could, uh, don't have to be, uh, as close if you don't want. Okay.

[01:39:16] Sometimes when people have like the vertical call, I say, okay, I don't want them to be so tiny. That just shocked me there, Rob. Sorry, Angie. I'll, I'll be quick. I have to run fast, but, um. Yes. Angie, can I just ask you, you have such an interesting background. You said that last time I was here, Rob. I'm sorry. This was my second time. No, I, I am actually very honored that you noticed again. Yes. Remind me. So what is a, what, what's on the wall there? Cupcakes? Yes. Are you in a bakery? Yes.

[01:39:44] Well, I just like to bake and eat my baking. So. Okay. Uh, uh, amateur baker, um, professional survivor watcher. Or, oh no, I don't get paid for it. So, um, quick thing. Is it too late in February to say happy birthday on 15 years? Oh, no, no, definitely not. It's still, look, it's, it's our year long celebration all year long. Oh, that's true. That's true.

[01:40:11] So yes, I've been there since the beginning and wouldn't have survived many moments without it. So I could go on and on, but people have said the words way wiser than I have over the past few weeks. So thank you so much. You're welcome. Um, the eras. So I heard Jeff say eras many times at the Saturday event. Do you think the tribes will be era based? Well, you know, the challenge did that with the challenge of 40, right?

[01:40:39] They brought back 10 people from each era. So I don't think that survivor is going to like, it's not like that 50 is a number that's like divisible by three. So I don't know necessarily how they would divide up 50 unless there were, you know, I don't know, five tribes of five or something. Like, I don't know how four, five tribes of four. Um, I don't think that they could do it for survivor. So it would be that word so many times.

[01:41:06] I thought, yeah, that's, you know, look, I think that Jeff is like in the weeds right now of trying to figure this out. So that is a good observation to pick up on the language that he's using. Like, I definitely do think that there's a version of three tribes could be, you know, old school, like old school, middle school, like new school. I think they need to come up with what the branding is for the middle era of survivor. I think it would, could go to heroes villains and then to 40. And yeah, I think you could do it.

[01:41:34] I think you do one through one through 20, uh, 21 through 40 or like, or 39. And then, you know, the new era, like, I think you could probably do it like, you know, like the, you know, the classic era, the big moves era and the new era. I think that's probably like, I think that's probably better branding than the new era or the middle, the middle ages. Agree. Agree.

[01:42:00] I just thought I'm paying attention to Jeff more because he does drop those things. And, um, and he did about a million interviews this week. Oh yeah. Um, I heard him, you know, talk about hands of the fans. So is that what's going to be on the buff and stuff? Or I, oh, okay. But did you like what I just came up with of survivor tally the vote? No, I just. Oh, you didn't hear it. What do you think about that for the name of survivor 50? Would that be better?

[01:42:31] Survivor 50 tally the vote? No, no. What do you like? I like arrows actually. Oh, so I have a 50. Okay. I don't know. I'm not a T swifter, but that certainly has a lot of traction. So yeah. Yeah. What do you really want to make it about that? The fans are voting. Yeah. Yeah. And voting's open, isn't it? I've been too busy today, but yeah. Yeah. It was so fun to watch. Watch.

[01:42:59] I listened on my commute in the Wurtonberger brothers debate. Oh yeah. I told the team like, Hey, let's cut that out and put that out as its own thing. Because the Wurtonberger brothers debating the survivor 50 vote was very fun on the Zach podcast. Well, and Zach phoned it in at first. And I thought, you know. Then he got competitive. Yeah. They are fun. And so when the batches come out of voting, they have to come back on and do their job.

[01:43:29] Okay. We'll keep it all year long. Yeah. And we don't know when the next votes are coming out. Yeah. I know. I know. That's okay. We're like the players. We have to stay on our toes. That's right. That's right. So no, I just wanted to pop on again because I was free. And so how long have you gone today so far? We're only closing in on two hours. Okay. All right. Well, I'll let other people get on. You have a great weekend. Thank you so much, Angie. Take care. Bye. Bye-bye. Okay. Let me say hi to Jess.

[01:44:00] Okay. Okay. Oh, okay. Oh, I'm sorry. That Sam has given me the signal. Okay. That is Jess Sterling from the production team and not another person. Okay. Sam, did you have any questions? Why was this such a fun podcast, Rob? I thought we did great today. Everybody was perfect. The questions were great. Yeah. People, you know, kept it zippy.

[01:44:29] The answer to my question was the patrons. The patrons made this podcast great. Good job, patrons. Okay. Rob, you were good too. Thank you. I mean, just trying to keep up with all the calls. And I think we did a great job. Next Friday, Owen Knight will be here to answer your questions. And then I will be back. I don't think I should be missing too many other, you know. Well, see, sometimes I'll move it around. I just, I'm going to be away all weekend next weekend.

[01:44:57] So I know people like it when I've done different times for this. So other people can call in, but we will do our best to get Friday in this time slot. And then, you know, we'll let you know if there's any changes along the way. Okay. All right. Thank you all so much for joining us.
