Nicole Cesternino’s Survivor 46 Preview

Rob and Nicole Cesternino share their pre-season thoughts on Survivor 46 ahead of the February 28 premiere date.

[00:00:00] Hey everybody, what's going on?

[00:00:02] Rob Sestornino back here with my long time podcast co-host,

[00:00:09] my life co-host.

[00:00:12] Here she is, the first lady of podcasting

[00:00:15] back in the main feed.

[00:00:16] Nicole Sestorn, Nicole, how are you?

[00:00:18] I'm good, I thought you were gonna say life coach.

[00:00:21] Not my life coach.

[00:00:23] I'm the opposite.

[00:00:24] Not my life coach, but a wise person.

[00:00:27] I mean, I'm wise on something.

[00:00:28] Street smart. as Nicole and I are going to preview the cast. Nicole Stradamus is going to make a winner pick. Okay. So- Hold on to your butt cheeks. Hold on to your butt cheeks. Nicole's hit the winner many times, not so much recently. I am either on point or not even on the map.

[00:01:41] Yes. Okay.

[00:01:42] So Nicole is going to get into her takes on everything.

[00:01:46] We are going to Nicole. Nicole can get some vibes from people. I've made some crazy predictions and I actually said that Fabio was gonna win, who guessed that? Yes, okay. And then I really weirdly called Spencer a young lad on the podcast.

[00:03:00] All right, I guess so.

[00:03:01] That seems more of like a coincidence than a prediction.

[00:03:04] Who says that?

[00:03:05] Okay, all right.

[00:03:06] So that's what we're here to do today. hit episode 5,000 this weekend on Rob as a Podcast. Yeah. And you were violently pointing at me. I'm just very, I'm very excited. We had our 14th podcast anniversary just last week. Congratulations. But we have a 5,000th episode coming up that I'm pretty proud of.

[00:04:23] Well, you should be. You work very, very, very hard. Working very hard. I lot of eager beavers. Yes. Oh, Nicole, let me give you a little bit of survivor breaking news. Okay. Let me get your reaction to this. I think I know what you're gonna say. You already know what I'm gonna say? I think so. Okay, hold on. Here we go. Here's some breaking news on Wednesday morning.

[00:05:43] We're recording this.

[00:05:44] It is 9 42 Eastern time Here we go, Nicole. Yes. Let's go to 18 Survivor Cast anyway. I might as well just lean into Liz. To just be my honest, full self, that's what's done me well. I've created three businesses and I currently own my own personal brand.

[00:08:21] I have a full belief and love yourself. Like that is a very good message. Very good message. Okay, how do you think Liz is going to fare as a survivor player?

[00:09:43] Sometimes on Survivor,

[00:09:44] you really can't be your authentic self, right?

[00:09:47] Sometimes, yeah, well, you have to her about not wearing that headband. Talk to her about not wearing that headband. What'd you think of Parviti's headband on the traders? Did you see any of that? I know you are a long time friend of Parviti. I thought it was very out of character for her. Yes. Okay. And she was, we talked to her on, we had an exit interview with Parviti this week. Big Week had Boston Rob, Parviti and Ethan

[00:11:02] all on the podcast.

[00:11:04] Not to mention, News AF every week with Tyson.

[00:11:06] Check your local listings for that.

[00:12:02] Maybe you're gonna do hair or I was gonna marry like an old, rich, dying man.

[00:12:03] Those were my life plans,

[00:12:06] and now I get to be my own rich man.

[00:12:08] Getting along with people is my bread and butter.

[00:12:11] Anyone can do good hair.

[00:12:12] It takes someone special to build a good relationship.

[00:12:14] It's how I make my money.

[00:12:15] It's how I'm gonna make my money out here.

[00:12:17] And I know I can come across as a bimbo,

[00:12:19] and I get a lot of things done because of that.

[00:12:22] If I go next door and ask my neighbors for a screwdriver,

[00:12:24] they don't give me the screwdriver.

[00:12:25] They come over and fix whatever I need them to.

[00:12:27] I'm thinking of these people like split ends. telling their, when they're getting their hair done. Can you be a hair stylist if you don't have a good personality? No. What if you're like the best, but you have bad personality? You have to be like, amazing and probably just not talk. Yeah, you probably like have more business if you are bad at styling hair, but you have a good personality.

[00:13:41] People will come back to you.

[00:13:42] You'll feel bad.

[00:13:43] You're like, oh, I can't fire her.

[00:13:45] Maybe this time it'll be good.

[00:13:48] Yeah. and handed things her whole life. And all of that couldn't be further from the truth. My parents, they immigrated to Canada from Iran, but when I was 40 days old, they decided that this was like no place to raise a young woman. They gave up whole careers so that I can come and have one of my own. That's why a huge goal of mine is to eventually do immigration law, because one thing that really speaks to me

[00:15:01] is helping refugees.

[00:15:03] Growing up being a different color from everyone else,

[00:15:06] you start to feel as though Rob only had like a tank. That's why they had to like try to keep warm. But I had like a long sleeve shirt. They were like, you, we don't need to see any more skin. You need layers. Layers, layers. I had a long sleeve shirt and I had long pants.

[00:16:22] But look at you now.

[00:16:24] Now I have so many pairs of pants and shirts.

[00:16:26] And tank tops.

[00:16:27] I have so many.

[00:16:28] Yeah. Okay, so that's, she's smart. And she's got a good story. Her parents were immigrants. Yes. Wants to do immigration law. I like that. Yes. She's young though. She's 24. Yep.

[00:17:40] And super pretty.

[00:17:41] Too young?

[00:17:41] You think people are going to underestimate her

[00:17:43] in a bad way?

[00:17:45] I think that it mom. My father, like, he never even knew I existed. He and my bi-yom-mom both battled addiction, so I fell into, like, loving education and going to school pretty early. Success was like my way out of all the dysfunction. I literally digged a trench, found myself, put her on one shoulder, climbed up with one

[00:19:03] hand on the other ladder, like, you're getting out of this frickin' bitch.

[00:19:06] I've been teaching for the make you or break you. Thank you. You know, to get herself out of it and actually genuinely be happy.

[00:20:20] Like, she should be proud of herself.

[00:20:22] Okay.

[00:20:24] Yeah, I had not seen these videos here Our cap is on super tight. I hope no one shook it up before she went and it explodes. I put that cap so tight. You do not. You get mad at me when I put the cap tight. I get mad. What carbonated drink are we sharing? Well, first of all, the only thing that I actually will close tight is a bottle of soda. Okay.

[00:21:40] Well, are we drinking the same bottle of soda?

[00:21:41] No, but if we were.

[00:21:43] And you've complained a few times

[00:21:45] that I closed it too tight.

[00:21:46] Okay.

[00:21:48] The soda? She's been pushing, we've been pushing each other ever since. She inspired me to apply to survivor too. I'm playing for Spicer party of four. For my sons, this is an opportunity for them to say anything you put your mind to sons, you can do it. Okay.

[00:23:01] Tim swims. Timmy.

[00:23:02] Speedo spice.

[00:23:04] I don't think we're doing that anymore.

[00:23:06] What? I think he's gonna, he's at least make the merge. Okay. Yeah. All right, yeah, I mean, I think that's a pretty safe chat. He's a athletic dude, of course. All the athletic dudes make it. Not all of them. Most of them. Sometimes they get medically evacuated. Okay. And you know what, he's got a hot wife. Yeah. So I bet he's got some game.

[00:24:22] Okay.

[00:24:23] He's passing notes.

[00:24:24] Sometimes you do that on Survivor.

[00:24:26] That's like slipping into someone's DM,

[00:24:27] but less creepy. She was probably very embarrassed. Yeah. You don't do that. You blew it. Yeah. You blew it. All right. Let's hear from Randin. Randin is one of the dads out here this season. We heard from Tim. Tim has younger kids. Randin, he is at least a daughter that's older. First of all, my daughter, she thinks

[00:25:40] I'm going to get voted out the first tribal.

[00:25:43] So she's having a your number one party.

[00:25:45] She's actually decorating the house right now.

[00:25:47] That's what our kids do.

[00:25:48] Yeah. I'm not sure if I ever have. Yeah, okay. It's new to me. So here's Brandon. What do you think of Brandon? Pretty impressive. Overcame a lot, had a hard childhood. Now in the Air Force, seems pretty successful. I do love that he has, you know, has this nice life

[00:27:01] and he continues to have this nice life for his family.

[00:27:03] And like, they have no idea.

[00:27:05] That's interesting.

[00:27:07] Yeah. What are they hearing things about their dad? It's definitely not for me. I say you're like cotton candy. What does that mean? Sweet and perfect. I hate cotton candy. I know. Okay, but how do you feel about Brandon? He's fine. He's gonna do well. He's a dude. He looks strong. I actually think he's on a tough tribe.

[00:28:21] I don't know if his tribe is necessarily like in terms

[00:28:24] of like the people that he's with.

[00:28:26] I kind of feel like he's odd person out.

[00:28:28] I'm a little don't remember. I don't remember off the top of my head. I remember it later. Yeah, there was an art teacher and

[00:30:42] They just take something and they run with it. Hunter, you're aft.

[00:30:43] You're aft, Hunter.

[00:30:44] I'm sorry.

[00:30:45] Jackpot.

[00:30:46] Jackpot.

[00:30:48] Well, kids are mean.

[00:30:51] He's 28 from French Camp, Mississippi.

[00:30:54] If you're from a small town, the dream is to become a doctor.

[00:30:56] Had a full ride scholarship.

[00:30:58] Had it all set.

[00:30:59] But then got to come home and sub for my sister.

[00:31:02] Absolutely fell in love with just getting

[00:31:04] to be with the kids day in and day out.

[00:31:06] It was a bit of a pay cut.

[00:31:07] You know, I left a bunch of money on the table, that means now. Yeah. It's like, he's like the Rizzler. Yes. Okay. He says he wants to be J T crossed with Tyson. Okay. I can actually visually see it. Yeah. He's got the hair and then kind of like the facial features ish of Tyson. Yeah. I think he's probably somebody

[00:32:20] who's going to do pretty well here. I think that he doesn't come off as like imposing

[00:32:24] or intimidating. Right. Like I feel like that in the new era, I had like a lisp and a stutter and I never fit in. My mom put me in piano classes and like one day to the next I was like obsessed and my whole vibe and mood totally changed. I've worked with a ton of cool artists and worked on commercials and TV shows and just be really immersed in music. And as a guitar teacher, one Except when I have make my living recording audio with very sensitive recording equipment. My piano is right below his office or the studio. And so that's the only downside, but for the most part, I haven't heard one person say, is somebody playing, you got a friend in me

[00:35:03] in the background?

[00:35:04] That was hard.

[00:35:04] All right, but Nicole, are you ready to shred with Ben? We took the kid, we took the kids and we were outdoors and we were- It was really fun. Yeah. It was in Charlotte, in Kenzie's neighborhood. Yeah. Maybe she was there. I don't know. And that there was like a woman who like the entire concert just like was like 10 feet behind us and was like incredibly drunk.

[00:36:23] Wasted. I think it's possible. It's possible. Okay. But I bet he's got some really good stories of different musicians that he's worked with, some crazy parties he's gone to. Yeah. I bet he's gonna be fun around the campfire. So I feel like if Ben can survive the first voter too, like I feel like I don't find him to be like,

[00:37:41] oh, he's a threat.

[00:37:42] He's gonna get to the end.

[00:37:43] He's gonna win.

[00:37:44] So maybe people don't worry about him

[00:37:46] if he just get through a couple of these things. Okay? Here's Jelinski. Young guy coming from Vegas. Here's Jelinski. One other fan has a Survivor slot machine in their bedroom. Whoa. I'm sure the ladies love that. Jelinski. When you see me, you're not thinking of someone who is super analytical, super intelligent. You think of someone who wants to smoke a doobie on a physical survivor.

[00:39:03] If there's one person I'd that necessary? I'm just saying.

[00:40:21] It has.

[00:40:22] You don't have it in the bedroom.

[00:40:24] The survivor slot machine.

[00:40:25] There's a different slot machine.

[00:40:27] Okay.

[00:41:21] It makes sense. Okay.

[00:41:22] You feel like he's somebody to watch for, the young guy.

[00:41:24] He's a young guy.

[00:41:25] Very tall.

[00:41:26] When he first started talking.

[00:41:27] Very smart.

[00:41:28] Well, when he first started talking, I was like,

[00:41:30] look at this guy.

[00:41:31] And then he continues talking.

[00:41:34] Like he's talking about his survivor slot machine

[00:41:35] and his doobies.

[00:41:36] And you're like, you're not taking this guy seriously.

[00:41:39] But then he talks about how he grew up.

[00:41:42] And I think that growing up where he did in the casinos,

[00:42:40] I did. Okay.

[00:42:41] All right.

[00:42:42] He's like the hottest unattractive man.

[00:42:44] All right.

[00:42:45] Here's Gem.

[00:42:46] Okay.

[00:42:47] Gem, she works in retail.

[00:42:49] She works at Victoria's Secret.

[00:42:51] Ooh, la la.

[00:42:52] My husband is jealous.

[00:42:53] Him and I applied together two years ago, like one frame.

[00:42:57] And then we got the email that they want me.

[00:43:01] That's messed up.

[00:43:01] Ha ha ha.

[00:43:02] Here's Gem.

[00:43:04] She's an international brand mentor.

[00:43:06] She moved from Guyana to New York City. and they said, we only want you. I love it. You love it? It's really funny that they hide together and they're like, no, sorry, dude, move over. We want the woman. Yep. Awesome. Guy. There's Gem. Is Gem in your maybe pile?

[00:44:22] No.

[00:44:23] Okay. Why?

[00:44:24] What are you seeing?

[00:44:25] I see some red flags.

[00:44:27] What's red flag?

[00:44:28] Yeah. Manipulate them. Okay. All right. Let's hear from Banu Here's Banu. I just want to go run and give Jeff a big hug when I see him Banu he is a 41 year old IT quality analyst. My husband George introduced me to survivor He's a superfan to me. The first season of survivor was survive a cog on

[00:45:42] Spencer got hit time and again time and again look at his enthusiasm. He rose from ashes

[00:46:41] He's got high energy. Seems really fun.

[00:46:43] Seems fun.

[00:46:44] I'm not super high on Banu.

[00:46:48] I don't think he knows what he's doing.

[00:46:49] I think that he has a really good attitude

[00:46:51] and he's gonna be there to have some fun

[00:46:54] and he's probably gonna climb a few trees

[00:46:56] and get some food and be really, really useful.

[00:46:59] Maybe Banu's husband I'd have more faith in.

[00:47:03] Maybe, he probably listens to Rob as a podcast.

[00:47:06] I don't know.

[00:47:07] Probably. Marianne was more like defensive. Mm-hmm. Okay. All right, let's keep going. Let's hear from Maria. Maria is another one of our moms on this season. Is she mother? I already told my kids, like, I'm gonna lie, cheat, and steal, and they're like, it's okay, Mommy, don't worry. I don't think our kids would say that. No.

[00:48:22] Hard things don't scare me. I had three babies born at home with no medication.

[00:48:25] My first son took 36 hours.

[00:48:27] I've run three in the hospital. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And I don't need a coach telling me how to parent. Yeah, you don't like that. No. I feel like you're out on Maria. I have a therapist for that. Mm-hmm.

[00:49:41] You're not feeling her.

[00:49:42] I think it's awesome.

[00:49:43] She ran three marathon.

[00:49:45] She seems really strong.

[00:49:47] She also seems like she's a very strong personality. in the preseason. Do you think that Mariah and Liz, Mariah and Liz? I remember Liz. Okay, here's Mariah. Yeah, I can see it. I think I'm gonna be perceived as a nerdy dork. We've had basically literally the God of Thunder on this show and I am not that. That's Jonathan.

[00:51:02] She was in San Diego.

[00:51:03] Growing up, I felt very disconnected in my community

[00:51:06] and in my family and outs of bureaucracy. If you're dealing with no, you're dealing with red tape. So coming out here, breathing the fresh salt air, I want to walk away from this and remember this feeling of the possible is out there.

[00:52:20] I do not want to be remembered as a woulda shoulda coulda.

[00:52:23] And even if you're going feeling good about Mariah. I mean, I think it's fine. I think she's smart. I don't know what tribe she's on. I do. Okay. Is she on a good tribe that would mesh with her?

[00:53:41] I think she'll have friends.

[00:53:42] Okay.

[00:53:43] Yeah.

[00:53:44] Is she gonna be, does it seem like she's on a winning tribe? I had a conversation with this guy one day. I like that art. We're admiring some artwork. I said, oh, I really like the way she did XYZ. I should try that. And he looked me dead in my face and said, oh, you're not a real artist. I don't like to lose. Now I have the... Oh, she got man's mind....booms that I am. And from there it took off. As an artist... Look at that, that's beautiful. You're basically selling yourself.

[00:55:00] I think that that's a very important skill

[00:55:02] to have out here because you have to be able

[00:55:04] to push your agenda forward.

[00:55:06] I have a little bit part, could get you into trouble. Could get you into trouble. Trust me, I know. All right. So we're putting her into Nicole's good list. I like her, but I'm worried about her. Okay, so you're worried, you don't think that she's a contender to win?

[00:56:23] I think she could get herself into trouble It's very handsome. I got to laugh and smile and do all the things that make me me in this one place. Acting is putting layers on and then you come and you do this and it's taking all that off and saying, who are you when I distill you down to your finest level? And I'm excited to meet the Tevin I am after this. Oh, I can't wait.

[00:57:44] He's an actor.

[00:57:45] He's very accomplished.

[00:57:47] He's also a great singer. He keeps talking and he's peeling the onion off, talking about what he has been through and poverty, foreclosure, really bad things. Then he takes another layer of the onion off and he talks about being an actor. And then he gets deeper, takes another layer of the onion off and talks about his transform.

[00:59:00] Multi-faceted.

[00:59:01] Yeah, it's very transformative.

[00:59:06] I think being an actor is going ultimately the name of the game. You just keep lasting. I'm gonna be graduating law school in about a year and then I sort of start my working life. you, you're no runner. Get out of here, rookie. Yeah, and they definitely use this voice. You don't belong here, get out of here. Yeah, Swiftie. Mm-hmm.

[01:01:40] No. No, why?

[01:01:41] I think he's fine.

[01:01:42] He's fine.

[01:01:43] I think that he gives if I would like coding. So I took a big risk there and it's paid off. My fearlessness and my self-starter-ness about doing all that stuff was really helpful and I think it's going to help me in the game a lot.

[01:03:00] I didn't actually see myself playing it

[01:03:02] until I saw Gabby play in David versus Goliath

[01:03:04] and I was like, oh, you're allowed to cry

[01:03:06] your eyes out on TV and you can still go deep in the game. Sometimes you get bananas on Survivor. And you hate bananas. I hate bananas so much. Okay. Yeah, she seems fine. Yeah. Yeah. No strong feeling one way or another. Not really. She seems like she'll be interesting. She's smart. She throws a rock really nice.

[01:04:21] I don't know how that's gonna help her on Survivor

[01:04:23] unless she throws, like she can-

[01:04:24] Chris Noble could toss the rock.

[01:04:26] Yeah.

[01:04:27] So, you know, I have to be careful to not make the bed that I don't wanna lay in. And if I can make it to that final three, I will have the best tribal council you guys have ever seen.

[01:05:42] I can promise you that.

[01:05:44] Okay.

[01:05:45] Cute.

[01:05:46] There's cute.

[01:05:47] So many things.

[01:05:48] Yes. He was nine kids. He- Was it nine? I think it was nine. And just like, you kind of, you learn how to survive. You learn how to- She laughs at nine kids. Yeah. I was gonna say, I'm not gonna say it. Like, oh, small family. Yeah. Like, you learn how to survive, how to stand out, how to manipulate people.

[01:07:01] Like, I feel like that's like the game of Survivor almost,

[01:07:05] being in a family that big.

[01:07:07] Yes, okay.

[01:07:07] And then he a lot. I told you, I liked this cast. The people that Nicole gave high marks to by my unofficial calculation. I can read between the lines of what Nicole's saying.

[01:08:21] I hang on her every word.

[01:08:23] It's true.

[01:08:24] And I'm just constantly looking for feedback.

[01:08:27] Does she like this? self speed of spice. Okay. There was Hunter. The Rizzler. Okay. There was Jolynski. Jolynski. Okay. Jolynski. Are you got a doobie again? Okay. There was then Tiffany.

[01:09:43] There was Tevin. And there was Q.

[01:09:45] All right. Now, normally I have my top three. Nicole's narrowing it down to the top three. They are. Q. Q? Scroll up. Okay. Jelinski. Jelinski. Feel like you just like to say it like that.

[01:11:02] And the Rizzler.

[01:11:04] Hunter.

[01:11:05] Okay.

[01:11:06] All right.

[01:11:07] So Nicole has all men. hunter. Yes. But I feel like I'm going to go with hunter. Hunter. Yeah. Okay. I think that's a good pick. I really do. Yeah. That I definitely when I, when I make my own winner pick, like somebody that would be very strongly considered. Oh, that's a bad sign. No. Oh, come on. Hunter and Q. I also will. I am Jon Snow. I know nothing. Give the first lady of podcasting some grace people. Okay. She comes in here. She's a filthy casual. And if you have anything negative to say about me, just send it to Mike Bloom. Why? Why Mike Bloom? It's the first person I thought of. I think there's other people you should send the negative feedback to.

[01:13:40] Mike doesn't want that negative energy.
