[00:41:48] Let's take some questions from the listeners.
[00:41:52] Okay, how about from our friend Eric LaValle said,
[00:41:56] How much better is Q getting voted out rather than Maria for Charlie's game?
[00:42:00] With Maria gone, Charlie presumably would have been the biggest target left heading into the finale,
[00:42:04] likely needing to win out and get to the end.
[00:42:06] With Maria still there providing him cover,
[00:42:09] he seems to be in the best position out of everyone to actually win.
[00:42:13] Yeah, was this where ultimately Maria won immunity?
[00:42:18] Was this a blessing in disguise?
[00:42:20] Also, I had said last night that if Q survives this vote,
[00:42:24] like they somehow like Maria goes home.
[00:42:27] Okay, and Q survives this vote with an,
[00:42:30] now you have to deal with Q with an idol at the final five,
[00:42:33] which they do not have to deal with now.
[00:42:34] Yeah, although at some point maybe they just like accept Q is like one of the seats in the,
[00:42:40] but they've tried to vote him out.
[00:42:43] Right, right. Yes, that's true.
[00:42:45] It would have, that's a very good point.
[00:42:47] Is it a blessing in disguise?
[00:42:50] So I definitely see the advantage to having your best ally in the game,
[00:42:56] or sorry, the biggest threat still in the game.
[00:42:58] If you're Charlie, you want the biggest threat still in the game so that you are not the biggest threat.
[00:43:02] And I'm sure Cody, I'm sorry, Jesse would have felt like maybe,
[00:43:05] hey, wouldn't it have been nice to have Cody around a little bit longer, one more vote?
[00:43:08] That said, I've been on the other side of that where I kept my ally for the very end.
[00:43:12] And there were two shots, two immunity challenges to take him out and he won them both.
[00:43:17] Did not work out so well for me.
[00:43:18] So, you know, if you got it, it's like so much as luck and so much as timing.
[00:43:24] On the one hand, it's great to have the bigger threat still in the game.
[00:43:27] On the other hand, you know, they could win out and then you lose.
[00:43:30] I think that Charlie is in a better position now
[00:43:34] because he would be in the exact same position that Jesse was in in 43.
[00:43:38] If Maria went home at this final six and we know how that went,
[00:43:41] Jesse will actually be here on Wednesday night.
[00:43:44] He'll come over and in person, we will watch the finale and talk about it live again.
[00:43:52] Season 50 pre-gaming at the Rob's house.
[00:43:55] OK, all right. Starts early.
[00:43:57] Not the podcast, though.
[00:43:59] OK, the but again, like, you know, on the one hand, it's great to have the threat there.
[00:44:06] On the other, the threat can win out and then then the threat is in the final three.
[00:44:10] Mm hmm. OK.
[00:44:11] Brian Cohen asked us, why didn't Maria insist Q play his idol?
[00:44:17] Even if her plan worked now, Q's immune at the final five.
[00:44:21] And she's just as vulnerable to go home without there being a new idol to find.
[00:44:25] Plus, she could have made a show of it at Tribal by telling him to play it.
[00:44:29] Well, she had said, well, Q had told her, right, that he would play the unit,
[00:44:34] give her the idol if she needed it at the final at the final five.
[00:44:38] So, I mean, that kind of makes sense to me.
[00:44:40] Right. If you if you legitimately don't think Q is going home, like if she knew that Q was the vote.
[00:44:45] Like, yeah, in that case, that that would have been the move.
[00:44:47] But like to tell Q to play his idol, to stand up in Tribal and like for him not to have been the vote.
[00:44:51] Like that would look really dumb. Yeah, that would.
[00:44:53] I don't like that last part. But you get Q to flush the idol, but then somebody else could find it.
[00:44:58] But also Q had said he would play it for her.
[00:45:00] So that gives her two shots at the final five, herself winning immunity or Q winning immunity to like basically be safe until the final four.
[00:45:07] OK. Ryan Irwin, very funny comedian.
[00:45:10] He wrote in to say, I'm very impressed with Liz's ability to convince others that she's going with their plan.
[00:45:17] She was the swing vote for Tiffany.
[00:45:19] She worked with Maria to get Venus out and then flipped with Charlie and Kenzie when she needed to.
[00:45:24] Since being left out of the Hunter vote, she actually has played the middle and isn't being clocked as a threat.
[00:45:30] What do you make of Liz's decisions? Are we sleeping on Liz?
[00:45:34] Yeah, I do think there's a world where, you know, I mean, Liz is playing a very smart game, you know,
[00:45:38] and I think a lot of that does get overshadowed because she's such a driver of the human drama or a big part of that.
[00:45:43] But like, you know, and this has been her whole narrative, too, of I'm not getting the credit like that, that I want.
[00:45:50] I'm not my gameplay is not being considered as the driving factor.
[00:45:55] Like, why is it this X's move?
[00:45:57] Like, why is you know, why is voting for Q, whoever's move we're saying it is instead of Charlie's move instead of Liz's move?
[00:46:04] Liz has been trying to get Q out forever. Why?
[00:46:06] Why is it not Liz's move last night?
[00:46:08] Well, Stephen, would you consider Liz for the fishy this week?
[00:46:11] Because even my son said to me, Dad, last night was a good night for Liz.
[00:46:16] And yeah, thinking about it, she got out her nemesis in Q.
[00:46:21] She went on the reward.
[00:46:23] She got letters from her daughter and most of all, something that you could appreciate.
[00:46:28] She, for the first time, went to the bathroom.
[00:46:31] Listen, it's a spectrum, right?
[00:46:33] You want to go to the bathroom a little, but you don't want to go to the bathroom too much.
[00:46:36] You want to be right in that guldy lock zone.
[00:46:39] Yeah, yeah.
[00:46:41] Yeah. OK, fishy for Liz. I think that's right.
[00:46:43] I think that's right. Because otherwise, like who you know, who's who was the big strategic?
[00:46:47] I mean, was it a big night for Charlie? No, like he you know, his allies is turning on him.
[00:46:52] He survived that. But I think it's a little hard to parse it between Liz and Kenzie from last night.
[00:46:57] But I think that and Kenzie did get her letters as well.
[00:47:01] And she did have the nice emotional content with Ben.
[00:47:05] But Liz emotional content is a strategy.
[00:47:07] Robert's a strategy strategy. OK, and then but then in the waters,
[00:47:11] the well-known Liz muddied the waters.
[00:47:13] She's one. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:47:14] Let's say she needs clean waters.
[00:47:16] Yes. So. OK, that can I just ask you then to then why Liz over over Kenzie?
[00:47:24] Didn't Kenzie do the exact same things that Liz did?
[00:47:27] Yeah, I don't know. Gosh, now. Now.
[00:47:30] Yeah. So you can you can you make the case for me while it is over Kenzie?
[00:47:34] I was going to say that. I mean, Liz had nothing was weighing her down.
[00:47:37] She's now a new woman. But is is she seen a little bit more?
[00:47:45] I know. I mean, both Q I'm sorry, both Liz and Kenzie have both been publicly frustrated by Q.
[00:47:52] I'm just wondering about positioning wise. Was it a better night for Kenzie or for Liz?
[00:47:59] I mean, I'm sort of like it's hard to do because I feel like that we're talking about Kenzie has a realistic shot to win.
[00:48:07] And so her win equity certainly increased where I'm not sure that Liz's win equity increased with this move that happened last night.
[00:48:16] Yeah. I mean, Liz was for a moment the target and got the target off of herself.
[00:48:22] Right. So, Liz, for that reason, you know that she was going to be the target and then it ended up being Q.
[00:48:28] That's good for her. So officially we're looking to you to make the official call.
[00:48:34] I think so. I think so. Like, you know, the other obviously the other choice would be for Charlie.
[00:48:40] You know, Charlie was the one who was able to get out Maria's best ally.
[00:48:44] But does that really which I guess like hurts, you know, but like Charlie also is like his threat level increased.
[00:48:50] He was a target. But that was like a fallback. That was not what he wanted to do.
[00:48:55] He could have done the same move last time and chose and chose not to do it and keep his powder dry.
[00:49:01] And that was sort of like, OK, well, this was like I had my reach school and then my safety school.
[00:49:07] And Q was his safety school. Yeah. And I don't think there's a I think there's a world where Liz does get some credit for, you know,
[00:49:14] I think Liz has been the one more than probably anybody who has been like banging the gong for let's get out Q, let's get out Q.
[00:49:20] So maybe there's a world where she does get credit for that, you know, since it's such a resume based season.
[00:49:24] OK, so congratulations to Liz Wilcox. I believe her first fishy of the season.
[00:49:28] Her second fishy. She got a fishy in the premerge for actually for that episode you referred to earlier where she took Ben and sorry, and Bonu.
[00:49:37] OK, good. Well, you know, it was it was like basically a very strategy free episode.
[00:49:44] And he was like all Bonu all the time. And we were like we were like struggling when Rand got medically evacuated.
[00:49:51] Yes. And like she got like some info about Kenzie at that point. So we were like, oh, but she didn't act on it.
[00:49:58] Yeah. Well, who knows? You know, maybe it's the long game. Maybe Liz, you know, Liz strikes.
[00:50:03] I mean, Erica had a huge finale, right? Like all like half of Erica's season content came in the finale.
[00:50:08] So we could easily see something happening with either Liz or Kenzie. OK. Yeah.
[00:50:12] All right. Miss Brownsugar said how damaging was Maria's misread of the votes for her endgame?
[00:50:19] Plus, the poor handling of last week's reward selection seems to also be muddying her edit. So much mud.
[00:50:24] Yeah. A lot of mud today. Yeah. Not great for her. Like obviously, like, you know, not not such a great night for Maria.
[00:50:31] It's so funny because she looked so happy, you know, like she was like, you know, she couldn't like contain her joy at this like big move.
[00:50:38] She was going to pull off. And I do feel like she just got like really stuck in this kind of like blindside.
[00:50:44] She was going to pull off and was not able to see that, you know, it wasn't happening. OK.
[00:50:48] How about. Let's see, we talked about.
[00:50:54] OK. NB 703. What do you think of Kenzie's talk about everyone's family roles at tribal council?
[00:51:01] It was interesting the way that she described everybody. I believe she said were were Q and Ben were like her brothers that don't really talk.
[00:51:13] And they pick on her. Yeah, I believe Maria was the aunt that cooks all the time.
[00:51:20] Yeah. Liz was grandma who's kind of losing it, but we love her anyway.
[00:51:24] Yeah. And Charlie is the lovable dog. Yeah. I mean, again, Charlie's a great dog name, Steve.
[00:51:31] And you would love a golden retriever named Charlie. Charlie. Yeah. And honestly, it's great.
[00:51:36] And if he was like Charlie, that dog, what a dog, you know, strategic, kind, loves music. What a dog.
[00:51:44] Yeah. Dog grip strength. Not so good. Kind of his mouth with a mouth.
[00:51:50] Oh, yeah. You get it like you pulled. Yeah. Try to get that rope from the dog.
[00:51:55] You know, the tennis ball. Forget it. Dog has good jaw grip strength.
[00:52:00] Yeah. Yeah. And we did see like that Charlie at one point, like in one of those challenges did like a weird like bite at somebody.
[00:52:07] Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Boy. He'll heal. Yeah. OK. All right.
[00:52:15] Probably. I mean, I do think that that actually speaks ill of Charlie's winter chances and probably Liz's as well.
[00:52:22] Yeah. Can't be called him a dog. Yeah. OK. Let's see.
[00:52:30] What do you think about Q referencing Applebee's again? I really made an impression on him.
[00:52:34] Yeah. You know, soon they're going to be going to my gosh, I want to go to Applebee's.
[00:52:38] I truly like never had the inclination before. But this season has made me want that burger.
[00:52:42] Mm hmm. OK. All right. Applebee's near me next time we're together.
[00:52:46] All right. Applebee's on me. We should. That'll be fun. OK. Yeah. Twenty twenty seven. Let's do it.
[00:52:51] It's going to take you to five star restaurant. But if you see you picked Applebee's.
[00:52:55] So, OK. I want breakfast. OK. All right. Let's see.
[00:53:02] See if there's anything else. OK. Liz's glasses have a lot of fire in them, according to see soul final four fire for Liz.
[00:53:12] That's interesting. So Kenzie versus Maria also could be the fire maker, right?
[00:53:18] Because they referred to her making fire today. There was a lot about like Carson and fire in the glasses last season or 40 and 44.
[00:53:25] It was like that was a big story line or big. We clocked it. Yeah.
[00:53:29] So who knows? Maybe that's that's the tell. Do you wear glasses if you don't want to go into fire?
[00:53:33] Do you think that the jury will be especially contentious in this season?
[00:53:39] I hope so. I love the new jury format, but I've a lot of people are really discontent with it and I'm kind of coming a little restless with it.
[00:53:45] Yeah, because it does. Maybe the better word. Yeah. Why? Tell me why you don't like it.
[00:53:50] I just feel like that we see mostly a lot of pylons in terms of like there's a lot of like everybody's like nodding, a lot of like group think consensus.
[00:54:01] I feel like that the old format was very much each person goes one at a time and like, OK, answer my riddle.
[00:54:08] Earn my point. Yeah, yeah. It's all about me. OK. How well you know?
[00:54:12] And you get it like a real focus on, you know, what each each person's like individual relationship was with each player.
[00:54:19] But I think that like I think probably in the nature of time also, you know, you have a big jury.
[00:54:25] You have basically, you know, eight jurors, three people like you're getting potentially 24 answers to the different questions.
[00:54:33] All right. And I haven't been on the other side of that. I will say that it's not like people really were like, what is my what is my vote based on?
[00:54:40] You know, they're like, I need to come up with a clever vote. What do I do?
[00:54:44] Like, you know, not not me, obviously. Mine was very thought through. But others, others, you know, what did you ask in the Cambodia final trial?
[00:54:53] And I was like, I don't remember. It was something to like, oh, to Jeremy.
[00:54:57] I it was like, what was your biggest mistake in the game? And I was like, big mistake.
[00:55:05] Because like the jury was really like mad at Jeremy, you know, the jury's mad.
[00:55:08] And I was like, he needs to show humility because a lot of people thought he was, you know, he was he was arrogant.
[00:55:12] So I was like, this is his opportunity to show humility. And he kind of I don't think he wanted to own up to a mistake.
[00:55:17] You know, like I think he like was like, well, I don't want to tell people what my mistakes were.
[00:55:20] Here I am trying to show you how great I am. Apparently, he had been waiting for me to give him the David Murphy.
[00:55:25] And I was not going to I'm not giving anybody a David Murphy.
[00:55:27] No. The you know, we've seen how that ends. Maybe a half Murphy.
[00:55:33] But and then I think I asked like Spencer and Tasha something about their pregame relationship or something.
[00:55:37] I don't know. But but yeah. Yeah.
[00:55:42] Yeah. The end. OK, anyway, like it's the jury question is is I like to suggest the individuality of the juror.
[00:55:49] But I don't know, like how like pure a look into that person's soul it is.
[00:55:53] OK, let me give you one last question. Emily Hawk wrote in said, remember at the start of the season when Rob said, if Q wins this season, it will probably be very boring.
[00:56:00] File that under. I love being proven wrong and I do. How should we eulogize or eulogize him as an all time survivor character?
[00:56:07] And I went back and I did watch his preseason interview today and he was talking about how he's like, hey, he said, I'm all about unity.
[00:56:15] I'm all about like the tribe cohesiveness. And he said, mark my words.
[00:56:23] Two people from my tribe will be in the final four. That is not right.
[00:56:28] Well, maybe it does get credit for my main one winning. Maybe, maybe.
[00:56:34] And here's what I loved about Q was that he was this like huge, almost like comically big character.
[00:56:39] But he also had you know, we also got to see so many other sides of him. You know, he was strategic.
[00:56:43] Like he had like legitimately great moves. He expressed so much empathy to people. He was able to bond with people.
[00:56:49] So sometimes when we have these like kind of like kooky characters, they just they're just a character.
[00:56:53] But Q was so amazing about Q was that we saw so much humanity, so much kindness, so much like, you know, and it was it was balanced.
[00:57:01] Right. He wasn't always kind, but he was like a person. He was like a real person. They're really like a real like three dimensional person.
[00:57:06] Yeah, I agree with that. Q had different parts of his personality.
[00:57:12] Q had multitudes for sure. They didn't always show us that in the show.
[00:57:17] Maybe a little bit more premerge. They showed the other sides of him.
[00:57:21] But, you know, you reference that secret scene, listen to him talk on these exit interviews and you definitely get a little bit more of,
[00:57:28] you know, how much thoughtfulness he put into like answering some of these questions.
[00:57:34] And he I think that Tony is a really good comparison to him in that that it is very rare.
[00:57:40] And I've described Tony as a unicorn. I might have to also rescind that after meeting Q.
[00:57:45] It's very rare to have a player who is a big controlling force, but also a larger than life character.
[00:57:54] I mean, Coach has a degree of that. I'm sure there's others. But to have both of those things is a rarity in Survivor.
[00:58:01] But there has to be more than one unicorn anywhere. Otherwise, how do the unicorns reproduce?
[00:58:05] So true. Have to be at least two unicorns. A cunicorn. Yeah.
[00:58:08] Yeah. OK. All right. Stephen, any other thoughts today?
[00:58:13] No. I mean, I guess like, you know, there's a world where like, you know, a unicorn reproduces like an amoeba just kind of like lays an egg.
[00:58:21] Yeah. Oh, no. I was thinking like kind of like just like divides. Is that how amoebas don't lay eggs?
[00:58:26] I'm sure of that. Yeah. I know. What do they have? Mitosis?
[00:58:30] That's that's where my knowledge is. Amoebas don't lay eggs. That's my science knowledge.
[00:58:34] Anyway, that's it for me. OK. So next week, Stephen is going to be doing a little bit of traveling.
[00:58:42] Just watch the schedule for we're trying to figure out how to get together to talk about the finale.
[00:58:48] But right now we're trying to work it all out based on maybe some Internet and some timing.
[00:58:53] So we'll keep you posted on when Stephen and I will get together in one week's time.
[00:58:59] Later on today, 6 p.m., I'll be talking about the Amazing Race finale.
[00:59:04] Back on the Amazing Race podcast, talk about another season of Amazing Race in the books.
[00:59:10] Wow. Can you believe it? Remember when we were almost on the Amazing Race?
[00:59:15] I mean, obviously, I'm glad I got married instead of doing that.
[00:59:18] But do you regret that? That'd be a fun thing to have on the resume.
[00:59:22] I don't want to do the Amazing Race, but like to have done the Amazing Race. That's something else.
[00:59:26] Yeah. I mean, well, Stephen will have so many other opportunities to do shows.
[00:59:31] Yeah, exactly. Who knows? Maybe the Amazing Race will still be in our future.
[00:59:37] Should we ally for survival? Well, now that I've said I don't let me send that.
[00:59:41] I love the Amazing Race and I would love to do it. It would be an honor and a privilege to be on the Amazing Race.
[00:59:45] Yeah. Okay. I said about as long as you do the bungee jump, I'm not doing the bungee jump.
[00:59:49] Yes. Well, let's let's just take the time penalty. Agree to do that.
[00:59:53] OK. OK. OK. But yes, Stephen, so much news in the reality TV world of all these different shows that are getting announced.
[01:00:02] Hmm. What was it announced? They announced a well, Survivor 50 is coming up.
[01:00:07] We're going to be returning players. They're going to have Australian Survivor.
[01:00:10] And they're saying that that's going to be U.S. versus Australia.
[01:00:14] And then, you know, there's still all these other shows like Traders and Deal or No Deal Island.
[01:00:20] And they're announced this other show, Get Out of the Mansion.
[01:00:24] Get out of the man. I didn't even heard of Get Out of the Mansion. Yeah. Wow.
[01:00:27] I was like, is this supposed to be like Get Out? No, I don't think so.
[01:00:31] I haven't heard of what's the premise of Get Out of the Mansion?
[01:00:33] I don't know. It's like I guess it's like a Traders adjacent and this is going to be former.
[01:00:38] Yes, the goat. Wow. So, yeah, all these all these big shows you're going to have to at least at the very if you're not going to go on these shows,
[01:00:46] you're going to have to start watching more of them. Oh, gosh. Like just like before, like just like Fred, like things to talk about.
[01:00:51] Yeah, we got a podcast. Yeah, exactly. OK. All right. Stephen, where can people follow you for all of your finale thoughts and more?
[01:01:00] Stand outside my house. Yeah. Are you on the cameo still? No, I did it briefly, but I, I felt bad.
[01:01:08] Like people are charging like 50 bucks. I just felt bad charging people 50 bucks.
[01:01:11] But then I was like, I also don't want to, you know, but then when it was like, you know, five bucks, I was like, this is a lot.
[01:01:15] What if you could do like roasting people? Oh, that'd be fun. Yeah. Uh huh.
[01:01:20] Well, that's yeah. Can you like slam poetry people? That's not me.
[01:01:25] Do you do you are you on cameo? I am. I'm inactive on cameo. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:01:32] I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. You know, if you're charging 50 bucks, it's a very fair price.
[01:01:35] Mm hmm. Yeah, I don't know. I know. Yeah. But like isn't like Rob Mariano charging like six thousand dollars?
[01:01:40] I don't know if it's six thousand dollars. No, it's a lot. Maybe that I would do for ten thousand dollars.
[01:01:44] You know, just like just need one person to pay your ten thousand dollars.
[01:01:47] Yeah, yeah. If you get one person, that's amazing.
[01:01:50] I would make it one cameo probably more than Q has made in all of his cameos.
[01:01:54] Actually, probably about the same. But I know it can really make somebody's day and it's a good.
[01:01:58] You're like really stuck to get like a gift for somebody and you're going to spend that money on like some other like crap from Amazon.
[01:02:04] That's just going to end up like in a drawer somewhere eventually.
[01:02:07] So you do get like the bang for the buck. But yeah, I do agree.
[01:02:11] You know, they they get expensive. And well, it also like, you know, yeah, I miss Rachel, the children's person.
[01:02:19] Children's like has got a children's show on YouTube. Did your kids watch? I'm not aware of Miss Rachel.
[01:02:23] Yeah, she just came on Cameo and I was debating, like, would it be like the greatest gift to get my daughter a cameo from Miss Rachel or would then like I be setting her up for a lifetime of disappointment where like why is why are the other performers from my favorite TV shows not giving me exclusive shout outs?
[01:02:38] Why is Daniel Tiger got nothing to say to me?
[01:02:41] Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Although on the third hand, like most children shows, they actually do speak directly to the audience.
[01:02:47] Every show is a cameo. Daniel Tiger is like, hey, thank you for coming today.
[01:02:52] Yeah. Hello, neighbor. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, that's what we do with the audience. Hello, audience. Hey, hello, podcast listener. How are you? It's Robin Steven. Just want to wish you happy Thursday.
[01:03:02] Hope it's going well this week. Yeah. Ditto. Have a great weekend. Friday's around the corner.
[01:03:07] All right. All right. Thank you so much for joining us. We love to read what you have to say in the comments. The commenters are so kind. We'd love to hear your thoughts about tonight and everything heading into the finale. Take care of a good one. Bye.
