Kaôh F***ing Rong Rewatch Ep 11
Survivor: Kaôh R?ng takes center stage on “Kaôh F*ing Rong” as hosts Rob Cesternino and Chappell dissect Episode 11’s explosive shifts, tough social decisions, and the mounting pressure as the finale draws near. Right from the opening, the podcast zooms in on Michele’s sudden ascent—after a quiet edit, Michele’s reward win launches her “winner montage” and finally spotlights her powerful social strategy in the late game.
Rob digs into striking comparisons between Michele’s and Aubry’s journeys—both know when to step back and when to act, proving sometimes the best move is letting others self-destruct. Chappell unpacks Tai’s idol decision gone wrong and his bumpy path as he faces down angry former allies and an unimpressed jury. The duo debates if Tai’s track record of flip-flopping costs him respect, interrogates Cydney’s role as a critical swing vote, and scrutinizes whether it’s wiser to boot physical threats or strategic underdogs. The episode brings lighter moments too, with a reward meal complete with fried chicken, wine, and a surprisingly pivotal ladies’ alliance discussion.
– Michele’s game ignition after her big reward and immunity wins cements her as a contender as hosts highlight her self-awareness and social strength
– Tai’s idol mishap and his failure to recover respect from the jury, leading to his fate as a zero-vote finalist
– Cydney’s tricky position as the swing vote: should she side with Michele and Aubry, or flip to Jason and Julia for a potential win?
– Jury perceptions, alliance voting blocks, and why targeting “goats” like Jason versus jury threats like Julia matters in the late game
– Unforgettable scenes at reward, a throwback puzzle challenge, and musings on the evolving look of Survivor’s jury
As alliances fracture and the endgame rushes closer, “Kaôh F*ing Rong” ponders: will Michele’s timing mark her as the winner, can Aubry capitalize on her bonds, or will Cydney shake up the final act? With every move under the microscope, who will outwit and outlast to claim the title?
Dive into all the strategy, shifting loyalties, and behind-the-scenes talk on this week’s episode, and find out which path to the end looks the most dangerous—and the most promising!

Find Starbucks Frappuccino drinks wherever you buy your groceries. Hey, it's Ryan Reynolds here from Mint Mobile. Now, I was looking for fun ways to tell you that Mint's offer of unlimited premium wireless for $15 a month is back. So I thought it would be fun if we made $15 bills. But it turns out, that's very illegal.
[00:01:01] So there goes my big idea for the commercial. Give it a try at mintmobile.com slash switch. Upfront payment of $45 for three months, $90 for six months, or $180 for 12 month plan required. $15 per month equivalent. Taxes and fees extra. Initial plan term only. Greater than 50 gigabytes may slow when network is busy. See terms.
[00:01:15] Hey, everybody. What's going on? Rob Cesternino back with you to talk about Co-Wrong episode 11. It's Survivor Co-F-ing wrong. And now we are back here to talk about it with Chappell. Chappell, how are you?
[00:01:39] I'm feeling good. I'm feeling good. Back again to talk about another episode as we are getting closer and closer to the finale. I'm very excited. Closer and closer. And I think that really, for the first time, and kind of paralleling Aubrey in season 50, she mentioned like, hey, you know what? Michelle, she made the moves at the end of the game. And I think this is like, we're starting to see Michelle rising here in Survivor Co-Wrong.
[00:02:03] Absolutely. So for the first half of this episode, we don't hear anything from Michelle, but she ends up winning this reward challenge. And then we start to hear Michelle's kind of like her winner, her winner montage here, right? Like she makes a move to go on this reward, to make sure Aubrey's there on the reward as well. And then on the reward, she tells us about her social game. And as we will always outline, Michelle's superpower is her social game. And she knows it too. She's aware that like, nah, if I can get in good with people, if I can make people feel good about me, they won't want to target me.
[00:02:32] They might want to work with me. And guess what? At the end, they'll probably want to vote for me. And so we're going to see the beginning of that right here. Yeah. And it's interesting. You know, I hadn't really thought on paper that there were a lot of parallels between Aubrey's season 50 win and Michelle's win in Survivor Co-Wrong. But, you know, after starting to watch it back and, you know, having talked to Aubrey about her season 50 game, she talked about like their, her biggest moves were like knowing when to shut up, knowing when not to do something.
[00:03:01] And I think that that was exactly the case for Michelle here in this episode of that Michelle's move here is, I mean, and really it's, it's ultimately Sydney's move. I think that maybe Michelle would go with Sydney if Sydney wanted to save Julia here, but Michelle doesn't stick her neck out for Julia. She lets Julia go.
[00:03:23] Yeah. Perfect spot. Right. I think you're right. I think the closer we get to the end, it is going to be very apparent that, you know, the first similarity I see is that Aubrey and Michelle at this point in both of their winning games, they're not the biggest threat. There are other people that you got to get out. And then when it's time to get them out, oh, wait, I can't get them out. Right. And I think that's what's going on here. Like right now. Yeah. Jason's got to go. Julia's got to go. And then at that point. Yeah. Michelle, you got to go. But all she has to do is make it to the end because it doesn't matter who she's with.
[00:03:53] This minority alliance that has just formed is going to vote for her. And it's not a shock that that happens. Right. Alliances vote for their avatar, their representative all the time. And so when Michelle makes it to the end, this particular alliance of her, Julia, Scott, Jason, like that becomes a thing at this point. And so those people are always there in the minority. And so they're rooting for somebody who's in the minority with them, Michelle, to come out on top. And she does. And so, yeah, it is a mistake that they're not able to get Michelle out.
[00:04:23] But Michelle's about to start winning a couple of immunities, too. So I don't even know if they're going to have a chance to get her out. Yeah. Michelle has a really impressive immunity win here in this episode. She's really starting to heat up. I don't know. Have we talked about it yet in this rewatch that both Michelle here in Survivor Call Wrong and then Aubrey also in Survivor 50? Neither of them go to tribal council in the pre-merge. That's also something that they have in common. It totally helps. You know, Jeff called it the most efficient way to play Survivor and, you know, take some notes.
[00:04:51] I was watching Outlast the Jungle. I know I've been I know you've started it, but there is a metric that they have where you can vote. So or I guess like a like a system that they have where you can like get a reward. If you vote somebody off of your tribe, it'll give you something. You know, it's like you can like, oh, yeah, I get rid of you. But in return, I get something else. And then there's also like you can vote somebody else off of somebody else's tribe.
[00:05:16] And I really think that that's something that can help in those situations where you have a big, strong man like Jonathan carrying you to the end. If there's a way we can get him off, like if we can just get Jonathan to our team, then we can start winning immunities. Right. Because there's some of these people. It's really hard to win with that, you know, with them on their teams. Sometimes this is not so much the case here, but it definitely would have been beneficial for anybody to be able to stop Aubrey in the pre-merge, you know, in Survivor 50. Not that she was Jonathan and is like carrying Aubrey.
[00:05:43] But I think there are situations where if I can avoid going to tribal council, it gave me a little bit more runway. People like Sandra need that, you know, just just a little breathing room to where I'm not just I'm not the most expendable person here. And so, yeah, if I'm ever able to get myself on a tribe where we're the winners all the time, take it. You won't get any screen time, but you might win the game. So this is the aftermath of Scott going home and ultimately the huge moment where Ty doesn't play the idol on Jason.
[00:06:10] I don't know if we have any like big, you know, top 10 moments of the season here in this particular episode. What stood out to you in episode 11? Well, for one, yeah, we do have to talk about that Ty, you know, it comes back and he's kind of on the apology tour because Julia and Michelle are pissed. They were left out of the vote. But Ty's point is my favorite thing people do on Survivor is when people get mad at them for not getting voted out by you. It's like you left me out of the vote. He's like, you voted for me.
[00:06:39] And she's like, yeah, but still, whatever, I don't care. You know, and so at that point, yeah, Julia is firmly at the bottom. She's been playing both sides and Ty is trying not to be enemy number one. But there's no way he can avoid that at this point. He is a big shiny target for people like Jason and Julia. He has an advantage. He has an idol. So he's flip flop. He's burned these people and they want him out. And so kind of watching Ty navigate, you know, the damage control portion of the game was interesting to me.
[00:07:07] But, Rob, at the end of last episode, I didn't get to flag this up. I would love to point out that had Ty saved Scott with that super idol, Ty probably gets voted out there. And, you know, on the tiebreak rules, whatever they are with a super idol in play, you know, Scott's safe. Ty got votes. Aubrey got votes. The re-vote. Ty's going. So it really made no sense for him to do that. They're mad at him for nothing. Well, let's talk that through a little bit because, you know, you and I were talking about this for like five, ten minutes after we finished the last podcast.
[00:07:38] And we almost came back on and added it to the last. We could talk about it here. So it was the final eight and there were four votes that were for Scott. It was Aubrey, Sydney, Joe and Ty. They vote for Scott. And then there are two votes for Aubrey. That's from Jason and Scott. And then there are two votes for Ty from Michelle and Julia.
[00:08:03] So if Ty gives his half of the idol to Scott and then they play the super idol and Scott goes home. Now, all of a sudden, it's a two to Ty. Two votes for Ty. Two votes for Aubrey. Ty just gave away his immunity idol. And now we have to have a re-vote. And it's entirely possible on the re-vote Ty goes home. Yeah, because Jason's going to vote for Aubrey.
[00:08:32] Scott's going to vote for Aubrey. Ty and Michelle, I mean, Michelle and Julia just voted for Ty. I doubt they flipped to then Aubrey at that point. Sydney voted, you know, with Aubrey. So she's probably still going to vote with Aubrey here to vote out Ty. Joe is going to vote out Ty here. It'd be crazy for him to do this. And so, you know, I get why they're mad. He definitely betrayed them. But it wasn't the not playing the super idol that was a betrayal. It's not voting with them. They lost Ty when he didn't vote for Scott. That's the moment he betrayed them.
[00:09:00] Chappelle, it's interesting that everybody talks about Ty, though, of like, we're not going to the end with Ty. You heard Jason and Scott talk about this. You heard Sydney in this episode, like, we're not going to the end with no damn Ty. No damn Ty. We're not doing that. He does go to the end. I think he only gets one vote. And it seems like that it's day 28 now. By day 39, the support for Ty in the finals,
[00:09:27] and maybe it's just that there was overwhelming support for Michelle. Maybe he was kind of up against tough competition. But he's looking like the most unbeatable person in the final three. And he ultimately gets there. And it doesn't go great. Who votes for Ty? Maybe. Is he a zero vote finalist? I don't think he gets any votes. In my mind, I feel like, is it like five to two to one? Let me fact check this.
[00:09:56] Yeah, because I'm thinking like, listen, I'm not looking. I don't see a lot of Ty votes here on this jury at this point. Yeah. Okay. Let's say Ty at this point, he's a big threat. But he's everybody's second favorite beauty right now. Michelle still outranks him in the beauty vote, right? So if it's like him versus Michelle, they're going to vote for Michelle. She hasn't done the things that Ty has done to piss everybody off. You can say the same thing about with Aubrey on the other side. It's like, yeah, in theory, Ty is well-loved. But Aubrey is automatically going to get Joe.
[00:10:25] So the question is, is she going to get Sidney? Is she going to get, you know? So I think if it's a final two between Ty and anybody, it might be tough. But a final three gives you a third option. And if you're voting against Ty, there's someone else you can go to. But you're right. They talk about him like he's unbeatable if he makes it to the end and he's just not. Ty is a zero vote finalist. Yeah. When you said it, I thought, I was like, oh, he got a vote. I kind of thought he had a vote. But he gets a zero vote finalist. If Mark the Chicken had a vote,
[00:10:55] he would get it. And he should have. But he's a zero vote finalist. Yeah. Ty doesn't get a vote here. But you're right. The way they talk about Ty, it's that they think of him as a threat. But I think as the game goes on, Ty loses grasp of what he's doing. I think he's looked at as a follower and a flip-flopper right now. Nobody loves a flip-flopper. And so, you know, especially when they feel personally betrayed by him. You know, it does feel like Jason is like, hey, I'm going to make Ty pay for what he did. You know, it doesn't feel like game-recognized game.
[00:11:24] You know, it feels like, oh, my, you know, it's going to be his last thing he does. He's going to try to take out Ty. And it doesn't feel like it in a competitive way. It feels like, you betrayed me. And so now I'm going to betray you. And so, yeah, I think socially, Ty doesn't do a really good job of kind of shoring up these voters in the end. You know, and then he sits by people who are massively liked, you know, with Michelle, with Aubrey. And so he put himself in probably the worst case scenario to win. And it takes you back to that idea that you were talking about.
[00:11:54] It's like, is it a mistake for him to let Scott and Jason go? Kind of, yeah, a little bit. Because he could definitely beat them. And he wouldn't have betrayed them if he hadn't done that. So, yeah, something to think about. Yeah, I do think that for Ty and Jason, I'm interested to see how the rest of the season plays out. I know they are pro-Michelle. Michelle, they seem anti-Ty. Do they turn anti-Aubrey? Do they nothing Aubrey? Let's say they nothing Aubrey.
[00:12:23] Or let's say they're positive Aubrey. I think they're more positive, Michelle. I think that, you know, look, we've never heard anybody say her name as a possible vote out to this point. You know, fair that she hadn't actually gone to tribal council. But we didn't even see like anybody just like, okay, if we go to tribal council, Michelle's definitely going here. I don't think that conversation ever came up. There were probably never even the numbers to do that. So we know they have positive feelings about her. No one's complaining about her being arrogant or anything like that. And then she'll go on to tell us about how good her social game is in this episode
[00:12:52] by talking about all the things she's doing to stay on everybody's good side. So at the very end of the day, I think you can just look over there and be like, it'd be cool if Michelle won. I like her a lot. You know, and I think that's probably what's about to happen to Aubrey. She's going to look up and be sitting next to the most likable person in the season. We see that Ty goes to Jason. He wants to talk about what happened after all of this. And you brought this up initially. Jason is pissed. He says this is a half-assed apology from Ty.
[00:13:22] Yeah. Ty's doing damage control. He's like, I don't really like betraying people. I do feel bad. And I probably believe that he does feel bad, but it doesn't matter. He can't say anything to Jason to change his mind. Jason said something very curious to me, though. He was like, I can't let him see how mad I am. And I said, why? Why? These last few weeks, you've been throwing tantrums and everything. Nobody cared about social game back then. When Scott was here, y'all was Rochambeau-ing and pissing everybody off. And now all of a sudden, it's like, okay, I can't let them know what's happening. It's like, huh?
[00:13:52] Scott's out of the game. And now you remember that you were playing Survivor. Look at that. Crazy. Yeah. Ty says, you know, I was afraid that you would come back here after and you would kill Mark the chicken. Meanwhile, Julia's like, we should kill Mark the chicken. Yeah. Julia's like, hey, let's put out Ty and kill Mark the chicken. Yeah. He was right. Ty had a good read on the situation. He also said he didn't want to go on with an idol in his pocket. He will definitely do that for sure. Yeah. Okay.
[00:14:19] The reward in this episode is a fun one. The competition itself is whatever. You know, we're going to have, it's the final seven. We're going to have our, we're going to draw groups of two and nobody picks Kyle Jason, right? Yeah. He has to sit out. And so he won't be eligible, but he is eligible to get chosen. Mm-hmm. Yeah. He's eligible to get chosen. And so Sydney and Michelle, they become quite the duo in this episode.
[00:14:47] We've been seeing more of Aubrey and Sydney, but really a lot of Sydney and Michelle in this episode. They're partners together and they win the reward and they get to pick one person and they unanimously agree. It's Aubrey. And this is such, so cool. Aubrey, Michelle, Sydney, they're going off on their adventure. And I mean, this could be its own spinoff. Make them, make the movie. We should call it Brands vs. Beauty vs. Braun because that's what it is.
[00:15:17] Yeah. They have one of each. Powerpump girls out here. Right. And, um, and I think they're the three best players of the season. So it's really cool to see them get to have this moment together because like, no matter what your rooting interest is, like, how can you not get behind one of them as the winner? And even though like, again, even at first, if you haven't seen a lot from Michelle, which we have highlighted that you haven't, in this episode, she comes off very likable, very pleasant. Kezken season. Let's do it. Yeah. What? That'd be so dope. But yeah, she just comes off so likable in this moment. And at first I was like,
[00:15:46] why would she pick Aubrey so easily? You know, I was like, she's at the, but then I was like, wait, she's right. Go ahead. Make yourself nice because Julia is plummeting to the bottom with Jason. You can at least outflank them for a couple of rounds. This would, that would be such a good season to have, you know, then they would bring back three, three women as captains in sort of like a mirror image of Philippines where they brought back three men as captains and it would be, and they have some common bond and then you also could do it like it's a new brains versus beauty
[00:16:15] versus brawn and like Michelle and Aubrey, would they work together? Would it, it would be like, you know, it has like a whole coach and Ozzy element to it. I'm like, we're good now. We're besties. And then something could happen and there's, how does Sydney play into this? Is Sydney, is Sydney outmatched here though being up against two winners? Is that not fair to her? Probably, but she's very brawny. She's very brawny and, and,
[00:16:45] and she easily, she could have won. Yeah. She could, she could have, I don't, maybe she wins this season. Maybe she wins this season we're talking about. Yeah, this is the one and then she like, it's the equalizer and they all have a thing. I think they all deserve a win at some point. So they got to bring Sydney back so she can get hers. Bring her back and it's like, you know, I felt like when I was on the traders with Jam Jam Natalie, like, I'm, I'm, I'm not a winner. Yeah, but it's like, it's still, it's still made sense for you to be there. So you're right. You're right. Sydney could come back in that spot.
[00:17:16] And yeah, they, and like, I like how you brought up Philippines, but I was thinking more Guatemala, you know, where they look up and then they like ascending like gods, you know, the goddesses coming down to like, okay, to be, you know, to give them their survivor knowledge, maybe even like Island of the Idols where, okay, they don't get to play, you know, they played a bunch of times, they won, you know, whatever, it's fine. But maybe you go to the Island, the Island of the Idols and you get to talk to one of your, your representative, right? Your brain, your beauty, your bronze, your tribe, and they can give you what you need. I like it.
[00:17:46] I think there's something here, Rob. There's something here. This is a good idea. Send this, send this through to Samoa. Yeah. Let them know. Because yeah, this is the, this is the most fun of the season to me. This, this scene, this is so cool. You know, I like the Caleb and Ty stuff. That was fun. But this little reward challenge is just like, yeah, let Michelle be joyful. Let Sydney and Aubrey be joyful. They all seem like they're having a good time. There's a little strategy talk, but overall, it was just cool to see them all chilling together. This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp.

It comes up with friends and podcasts and on social media all the time, but actually asking for help yourself, that still feels hard. BetterHelp's 2026 state of the stigma report surveyed 2000 Americans and revealed that 85% of Americans believe that getting support is wise, but 74% say society discourages people from doing so. That gap right there. That's the whole problem. We know it's a smart move.
[00:18:44] We tell a friend to do it in a heartbeat, but when it's our turn, something holds us back. It was the final seven.
[00:22:10] We got three people going for a big meal, fried chicken, wine, coleslaw. Here's the origin of Aubrey's coleslaw love. Yeah, some corn on the cob as well. Soft drinks. And then they got to take the chopper. Wine. You know, we love a chopper here. Yes. Yeah, they got the wine. And they were hype about the wine. You know, Michelle, she's like, hey, yeah, this is right up my alley. I think she had a beer last episode. Michelle's just living life. Yeah. Yeah. It's good to be Michelle right now. And they're talking, Michelle and Sydney and Aubrey,
[00:22:39] and they're talking about that they don't want to go to the end with Ty. Ty is a big target right now. Mm-hmm. He's got a lot of tools in his tool chest, you know, with his idol and his extra vote. And so it would be great to get him out. But there are other people who might be bigger threats out there. And so we'll see if they're able to get Ty out. Yeah. But he's not enemy number one as they are saying he is. Yeah. But they are talking about they don't want to go to the end with him.
[00:23:07] Meanwhile, Julia and Jason are saying, we need to get out Ty. We also need to get out Ty. Yeah. And they have to wait on Sydney to do it. And this is really like the poetic justice here, right? Is that like Jason and Scott have been so salty about Sydney. Last round it was just give us Sydney. Just give us Sydney and we'll act like we have good sense here. Just let us have her. Now I hear Julia and Jason are like, okay, Joe's not going to talk to us. I think we got to go to Sydney. Yeah. And Sydney, she's over for business. She's like, yeah, talk to me. What's like, what are y'all plotting?
[00:23:37] What y'all got going on over there? So this was fun. Yeah. So Sydney is a bit of a swing vote here where it sort of looked at where it's like, okay, now Aubrey and Joe, now they have Ty. Where Scott and Jason had Ty. Now it seems like Aubrey and Joe, they have Ty. And Michelle, she could go either way. She ends up sort of, I guess, in a voting block with Sydney where that Michelle will go where Sydney goes on this vote. Yeah. It seems. That is true. That is true.
[00:24:07] Because I think right now, Aubrey and Sydney are going to the end together. I think they have no intention of turning on each other at all. And they're looking for who they want to sit with. Because they talk about how they can't go with Ty. They're not going to go with Julia. You know, they talk about Julia's a bigger threat. Jason, they clearly don't want to go with him, which is questionable. But yeah, but Michelle, they don't really sound like they're interested in getting Michelle out anytime soon. So she's kind of good with whatever they got going on.
[00:24:35] Well, sometimes these groups go on a final, go on a reward at the final seven, final six. They kind of lock in a final three. And I wonder if, at this point in time, if Aubrey and Sydney are looking at Michelle. And really, it's great for Sydney. Sydney is kind of in the middle. She's like, great. This is Michelle. This is Aubrey. I like this. I'll go to the final three with these two. And I wonder if we didn't see it.
[00:25:03] But do they say, like, hey, we're doing this? It feels like it. It does. Now, the question is, is Sydney making a good choice by saying, let me go to the end with Michelle? You know, we know Michelle will ultimately win the season. But I'm really curious just to think, okay, what votes does Sydney think she's going to get if it does become a final, let's say, final three with her and Aubrey and Michelle? Like, you have to assume Michelle is going to get the beauties, you know?
[00:25:31] Yeah, Michelle's still going to clean up, I think, at the final trial. I think that Sydney could get Debbie in this scenario. And that's it. She's not getting Jason. She's not getting Scott. She's not getting Julia. No. Maybe she gets Ty. But it'll be tough with Michelle there. I think I've ever seen Sydney even have a conversation with Ty. That's why I said maybe. Because I don't know. Like, I don't want to be like, she's not getting Ty. Who knows what Ty's going to do, honestly.
[00:25:59] But yeah, right now, I think Sydney's just trying to get to the end. You know, get the vibe that she's not the biggest Survivor fan. She probably hasn't really thought. You don't think Nick would... Well, he didn't vote for Michelle. He voted for Aubrey. He was an Aubrey vote. Like, I think he's an Aubrey guy. Yeah. He said, I thought I could see myself playing with Aubrey. And Sydney did work to get Nick out. And I think he's vindictive. So, I think that he probably sticks to his Aubrey. Yeah.
[00:26:27] The issue here with Sydney is that the person that she wants to go to the Final 2, the people that she wanted to go to the Final 2 wanted her out. And Final 3 wanted her out. And that was Scott and Jason. If she could have taken them to the Final 3, I think she cleans up easily. But yeah. Now, maybe she gets there with Joe and Ty. I think she can pull it off. But other than that... Joe and Jason. Joe and Ty. I think she can pull it out. Aubrey in the Final 2. I think she might be able to beat Aubrey. But yeah. She's just kind of...
[00:26:57] She's got to figure this one out. Because I think she's in a tight spot. But I just don't... In my mind, I don't see a world where she's already factored in the jury vote component. As somebody who's not a really big fan of the show, she's probably not looking at it along those lines. Let's talk about the immunity challenge here. And this is a good one. And it's a great moment for Michelle. I thought it was in the episode. But maybe she says in her post-game interviews that she was able to... If you didn't watch the episode, it's a memorization. Challenge. Kind of shades of Steven going back. Steven Fishback, yeah. Yeah.
[00:27:27] And doing the challenge in the order of operations. And this was that they had like a puzzle board where there was an animal shape that represented a number and you had to memorize that. And Michelle and Julia, they both did it. They memorized all 10 numbers on one trip. Yeah. Everybody was very impressed with how she did that. For Michelle, it helps that she's been eating a lot. You know, because I think her brain, her blood flow is still... Everything's good there.
[00:27:56] There's a 0% chance that I would still be out there to this day. 10 years later, 10 years later. I would just be down there just struggling. I would be so bad at this. Even when Steven explained his token change thing, like, all phone numbers are seven digits or 10 digits, blah, blah, blah. Hey, that shit went over my head so fast. And so for Michelle to be like, yeah, I'll just memorize it. Hey, kudos to you because I could never. She remembers drink orders at the bar. This is what she does. Look, I remember drink orders too, but damn, not as good as her. She's good. Not as good as her.
[00:28:25] And yeah, this was a cool challenge. And again, it's the type of thing that you don't get anything like this in the post-merge of the new era. Like, this isn't even hard. You just don't have anything that's... They're so samey-same, the challenges. Not to be samey-same myself. It's not like a broken record. But this was a cool challenge. I think both the challenges were different and not hard. I think the first one was ring toss. And like, essentially, you know... Yeah, but I mean... Cool to Joe, who was actually good at that. Joe, killing it. Yeah.
[00:28:55] So, yeah, I think this might be around a time where people were like, there are too many puzzles. You know, like, those strong people can't win. They gotta give them... We gotta give them stuff that they can do. You know? And so, yeah, you throw one of these in, and I think we see some different immunity winners in season 50. Yeah. There was a cool picture, also, I remember, of, like, everybody at the code board, like, looking at it.
[00:29:21] And I remember them saying, like, okay, this is like an album cover of everybody staring at the Survivor, Korong players, like, all looking at the thing at the same time. No, this is super cool. This is super cool. And then, again, this is like the beginning of Michelle rising, right? Like, she is about to become the biggest threat. They don't know it because they're too busy. They're distracted by Julia and Jason. But there's a sleeping giant amongst them. Yeah. They're just not aware. Yeah. The sleeping giant is on the jury. Yeah.
[00:29:52] I don't think he's sleeping. He's got a weird look, though. You know, buttoned up all the way to the top. I thought it was odd. Yeah. I didn't catch Scott's jury look. It's not. They're not. Hey, this is an era where they're not doing the looks the right way. I would love to know who's the first one to really be like, you know what? Let me put on for the jury. Because I know in your book, you talk about you should look nice on the jury. Yeah. Saul, I think, really is the game changer. I think that's Saul and his vest.
[00:30:20] See, I remember in David versus Goliath, I remember Davey coming out with his fresh haircut. I'm trying to think, but if anything happens before then. But Saul is the next big one, the big moment I could think of. I think there's another moment in Survivor History where somebody comes out and someone goes, wow. And I can't remember who it was that they wowed about. But it's a woman. And I think they were just like, they weren't used to her looking not rough, you know? I mean, you saw the people on the jury in season 50.
[00:30:48] It was like the jury has been like traitorification of the jury. It's all you have left. I mean, don't get me wrong, you get to vote. But what? My entrance? That's the one time y'all going to be looking at me after I'm voting out the game. I'm coming out. That would be the whole reason I would play. It's just for that one moment where I could do my Lisa Renner entrance. People in the early days of Survivor had like whack looks. Like Lex is like, I'm going to have a mohawk.
[00:31:17] I'm going to have a handlebar mustache. Like we're all going to wear black. Like they would just do like wacky things. And nobody was like trying to like look good. Right. Whereas I'm like, that's the moment. That's where you got to show up. What are you talking about? This is the last time. And don't get me wrong. Yeah, you'll be on the jury for however many episodes. But that first entrance where they say Chappelle voted out at the last Tribal Council. All eyes on you.
[00:31:45] You know you're about to get screen time for at least 0.5 seconds. Make it look good. Make it look sexy. Make it look good. Okay. So we're going to Tribal Council and we are seeing a couple of different plans. The Jason and Julia plan. They're hoping that Sydney and Michelle come with them. And they are going to go with the tie plan. What did you think about the tie plan? Because Jason says, y'all vote for tie with us.
[00:32:14] If he plays his idol, one of us will go home because that's who he's voting for. And if not, then we get rid of tie and he's gone. And y'all have gotten rid of the biggest threat. What do you think about that as a pitch? It's not a bad pitch. I don't know how Sydney does it without losing Aubrey. And so unless there's like engineering some great way for Sydney to get to the end, maybe feeling like, okay, if I go to the end with Jason and Julia, do I win?
[00:32:41] And so maybe that's the advantage for Sydney. But I don't know how much she can trust that. Like to totally turn on Aubrey and go Sydney, Jason, and Julia is the better final four for her. Honestly, on paper, I'm kind of liking it. I just don't think that she can trust Jason. Yeah. If you go with the plan, this is how you get three, two, one out the game, right? Like you now vote for tie. They vote for you. Jason been targeting you this whole time.
[00:33:10] What's stopping Jason and Julia and Michelle for them turning around and voting out Sydney? She just betrayed Michelle last round. You know, like she has to have a lot of faith in Jason to go with this plan. She should not have faith in Jason or Michelle at this point. She just betrayed both of them. And even, you know, lesser extent Michelle, but definitely Julia. She seems very unhappy. So they're telling you like, we're mad, but we got over it. But come with us to do this cool plan to get out of tie. It's a cool plan, but not enough for me to run and risk my game on it. I don't know.
[00:33:39] So I thought it was also an interesting proposal, but just not one that you can hang your hat on. This is the three, two. You end up three, two, one out the game. Yeah. Sydney and Michelle, they're talking in this episode. I have the options. We vote for tie, vote for Julia. We see a lot from Michelle's point of view. Not very much from Aubrey's point of view in this episode. Really, Aubrey is a little bit more on the sidelines here. Yeah. Well, because Aubrey's numbers are a little bit more solidified at this point, right?
[00:34:09] Michelle still has wiggle room to kind of do wherever, kind of go where the wind is blowing. Sydney is being courted as well. No one's courting Aubrey. She's got Ty. She's got Joe. That's a tight three. And in her current position, she has Sydney as well. So it's really hard to get Aubrey. Aubrey's like, kind of like, you know, I just need to stay the course right now. I don't know if her end game is Sydney on one side, Joe on the other side, but it definitely feels like Sydney and Aubrey, at least from her perspective, are locked in.
[00:34:38] And she doesn't have to really worry about what they're trying to do with Sydney over there. What have you thought about Joe in the challenges? Joe is, like, very quick to just, like, tap out on the challenges. Yeah. Yeah, he's only like, I'm not doing that. Look, when you get to be 70-some odd years old, you're kind of just like, hey, I'm done. You know, but he's not a slouch at all. You know, like, he almost won that reward challenge in the ring toss. He was good on the ring toss, yeah. Yeah, he was pretty close. He's not feeling it. He's like, eh. It's been a long season.
[00:35:09] You know, they've dealt with a lot of stuff. There's an infection. They're tired. They're hot. You know, and he's, again, he's 70-something years old. Like, let him, like, he can take, he can take a breather. Yeah. So, at these tribal councils, we get Ty always. Jeff loves to go for him. See if he can put his foot in his mouth. Very easy. Yeah. To get Ty. He's just kind of like, it's like the moment, like, it's like he does not perceive a world where Jeff is going to ask him a hard question.
[00:35:35] And so when they do, he's like, I don't, you know, he just kind of fumbles. And Jeff knows it. He knows that's his target. Yeah. And Jason is always willing to pounce on Ty. I forget what exactly the question was that they were talking about with Ty. I think they said that Ty flips on his allies. And Jason had, like, a very impassioned. He did it two times. He did it two times. He's flipping like flapjacks all over the place. Like Abby Maria.
[00:36:04] Is that the Abby Maria, the flapjacks? No, no, no. You voted for me twice. He voted for me two times. So you're dead to me. That has not happened yet. It has happened for us, the viewers, but not in the canonical human history. Damn, that's crazy. Huh. He did it two times. Weird time travel thing that we're doing right now. But you're right. Flipping like flapjacks. So he wants Ty out. He's like, Ty's the biggest threat here.
[00:36:33] And I think it was someone said that Aubrey's just carrying Joe to the end. I think it was Julia. She's like, yeah, Aubrey's just carrying Joe on to the end. So I think Sidney and Michelle are at the bottom and they should do something. You know, they were really making a plea here. Hey, leave pop, pop Joe out of this. I think that's what Bryce used to call Joe Del Campo. Pop, pop Joe. Can Joe win surviving? No.
[00:36:59] Is there a world where coming into this season, playing the exact way he did, is there any iteration of this game where he could have won? Who can even sit by? I guess Scott and Jason, right? I think they are ghosts. Scott and Jason. Maybe Peter. Could he beat Ty? Maybe Peter and Liz and Debbie. If he was at the end with Debbie and Ty, does he win the game? I don't know. I kind of feel like that Julia and Michelle, I think, vote for Debbie.
[00:37:31] And, yeah. Whew. That's, yeah. Yeah. And I don't think, I don't think. Scott and Jason, they don't love Joe. Scott and Jason, they're not going to vote for Joe. Yeah. They may vote for Debbie. Maybe there's a bad cast for him. Maybe there's a better cast somewhere for Joe Del Campo. Because I don't think he's playing a bad game. He seems to be, you know, solid. He got blindsided by his own allies a couple times. But, sorry for that. Yeah. The thing is about Joe. I'm trying to think. Like, in terms of, like, if there was, like, maybe, like, there.
[00:38:00] He's not really super grandfatherly. Like, he has that relationship seemingly with Aubrey. But not so much with Julia. Not so much with Sydney. Not so much with Michelle. He doesn't come across as, like, it's not like a Pascal and Nalia type situation. Where they don't seem to, like, have an affinity. They love Joe. Aubrey does. But nobody else really seems to love Joe. I think he plays Survivor. And a lot of people do. Where he picks his team.
[00:38:29] And that's the person. Those are the people he's going to ride with. And there's nothing really you can do. And that's a winnable situation for somebody. As long as they're up against the other team. Right? You can count on the people on your team to vote with you. So if this is a final two between Joe and Jason, I think he wins. Final two between Joe and Scott. I think he wins. But the moment you start picking somebody from his own team, I think that's when he loses the game. I think he loses against everybody else that he's been aligned with. And, yeah, if he really wanted to win this game, he should have been more willing to play with the dark side. Yeah.
[00:38:59] Aubrey has a pretty good line on, no pun intended, with Julia's vote. She says, I'm not going to cross it out this time. Yeah. Yeah, it's time. It's time. Yeah. Yeah. Julia had a good run, but the vote took her way this time around. Julia did have a really good run. She said in her final words, she's one of the youngest people to ever play the game. I think it's, I'll look up if she was 19 or 20 when she did it.
[00:39:26] Kind of a quiet run in the beginning of the game. But, yeah, it's just a good job. I mean, and she's only 30 now. Yeah. So, she was 20. 20 on the dot back then. Probably 19 when she played, 20 when it aired, something like that. Yeah. Good run. It was an active game. I don't necessarily agree with all the moves she made, but it was definitely, it was a game that at least she could say, I did something. Where so many people leave Survivor and people were like, make a move, make a move, make a move.
[00:39:56] You didn't make a move. Julia made moves. They just didn't work out for her in the end. Yeah. They asked her, Survivor Contestant you most like? She said, Natalie Tanarelli, because she was a young female player. Jenna Maraska and Parvati Shallow, because of their abilities to strategically combine sex appeal and intelligence. And Andrea Belke, because she is a wholesome farm girl with big dreams. Huh. What do you think about those descriptors?
[00:40:23] You know, I feel, I don't feel good about Julia telling us that she was going to play with the sex appeal. She was like, feminine wiles here. There needed to be younger people on the season for that, I think. Right. Julia over there talking to old ass Scott. Or Joe. Like, Joe, you think you want to vote me out? Yeah.
[00:40:47] So, yeah, I think, yeah, for like a millennials versus Gen X, I think Julia would be perfect for something like that where, you know, we get the younger tribe. I like her description of Andrea because I do think it's like, I think it had game changers happened already. I don't think that's the same descriptor she used for Andrea. I think people were looking at her like a wholesome farm girl when she's a gamer. You know, she likes to compete. Yeah. And so, I would love to see, yeah, I would love to see Julia play again, see what happens when something like that happens.
[00:41:16] Yeah, but I do think that Andrea is probably the best descriptor. Like a, she picked two people from Redemption Island, but I think that Andrea is probably the better person. Because I think that Andrea was, you know, with, and it was Natalie and it was Ashley, but Andrea was the one who was like the fan. She was the gamer. Uh-huh. Natalie was just there and that's okay. It got her very far into the game, but Andrea was a gamer the first time. No, look, she must've been a gamer then, but she wasn't really gaming. Nobody was in Redemption Island.
[00:41:45] Boston Rob had them in a chokehold. You know, it was hard for Andrea in Redemption Island because that she was enough of a gamer to realize like, oh, I, you can't do anything. Like if you do, if I saw what happened to Matt Elrod, if you do anything, Boston Rob's going to get rid of you. So there wasn't a lot of room to wiggle. Yeah. She's over having to Matt Elrod twice.
[00:42:07] But yeah, but I do think if you look at maybe fans versus favorites too, you know, Cara Moen, I think that's probably where you get to see the Andrea mover and shaker that Julie is probably referencing a little bit. There's a moment at Tribal Council where Ty wants to know, should he play the idol? He asks Aubrey, should I, should I, should I play my idol? And he does like a bizarre whisper. He goes like, like totally like. He reaches around her head. Yeah. Should I play it? And she's like, I don't think so.
[00:42:36] But it's, you know, you got to trust your gut. But go with your gut. Yeah. And I think that's the right answer. Because if you say like, play it, play it, play it. And he plays it and he's wrong. Then it's like, damn, Aubrey, you, you made me flush my idol. But this way she says like, I think you're good. But that way, if you decide to go elsewhere, that's on you. There's a lot of gut talk in this season, especially in this episode. We see Aubrey telling Ty about going with his gut. Michelle talks about in this episode also going with her gut.
[00:43:06] And I go back to the premiere and Darnell. And right now my gut tells me, go use the bathroom. It was foreshadowing. It was a very like gut heavy season. And we know about Joe's gut. But it's going to get heavier. Yeah. Somewhere, Kellen Bechtold is defrosting, you know, because I think the gut becomes her entire like mantra out there. Like, I got to go with my gut. So, yeah, this is just shades of Kellen early on.
[00:43:36] Yeah. Okay. This episode was called that it is a me game, not a we game. I think Sydney had the quote of the episode. Yeah. I think. Yeah. I really wish that there was a way like Big Brother style to kind of hear what these people are thinking real time a little bit, you know, in a less edited way. Because I would love to know what position they each think they're in. Right. Like, I don't know if Sydney thinks like I just need to make it to the end or not. But I just don't see a winning path for her right now that doesn't include Jason in it.
[00:44:06] And so, you know, she's got to mend that fence. Obviously, this is a big episode for Michelle. You know, I like that we talk about in the past that it's the show struggles to show people's social game as a like as a as a winning factor. Right. But Michelle knows that the social game is what got it is what keeps her around. And so she's like talking about it. And so when you go back and watch the season, you know, why did Michelle win? You start looking at these quotes from this episode. This is a kind of like lace you up on that. Yeah.
[00:44:37] Well, we've got three episodes left. Michelle is starting to heat up and we're going to come back with episode number 12. We're going to finally say goodbye to Jason. Finally. Absolutely. I great run for somebody who has been a pariah for about four episodes. Yeah. I just wanted to just talk through. Jason did not really come up as a possibility to go home very much.
[00:45:06] What would you think about this to take out Julie instead of Jason? I think they're of two minds. They're thinking we want Jason out because he's a jerk, but also he can stay because we can beat him. And Julia is not a jerk and we can't and we might not be able to beat her. So she needs to go. Michelle, I think, again, makes the really smart move here of being like, I need to outflank Julia and Jason. Right. They're both at the bottom. I need to make sure they stay at the bottom.
[00:45:31] And so by going and ingratiating herself with Sydney and Aubrey, that buys her at least this week. I'm sure next week the conversation is going to start, though, about, OK, is it Jason or do we do we make it sexy? Right. Do we go with Jason? Do we go with Ty? And I think the third option at that point is Michelle. It's just interesting. I know that we're saying people can beat Jason, but it doesn't seem like Aubrey wants to keep Jason. Aubrey has just had like a.
[00:45:59] Her target locked on Julia. I think that that's really been it ever since the cross out vote. Yeah. I mean, those two things happen back to back, though, right? Like the cross out vote happens and then Julia goes and starts playing both sides. So it like it reinforces what Aubrey already wanted to do. As far as Jason goes, it's like, yeah, no one's going to vote for him. So if he makes it to the end. OK, whatever. And maybe there's a thought of, hey, let's break up the duo of Michelle and Julia. That's Jason already lost his couple.
[00:46:29] So he's a solo. Let's break up the duo here. Yeah, I guess the real question is, like, how do they decide that this is the time to cut him loose? This happens in Survivor often as well. We saw this not to bring up Abby Maria again, but we saw this in the Philippines. You know, you had Lisa Welchow and Mike Scoopin sitting there and being like. Yeah, I mean, we could vote out. I mean, Jonathan Penner as well. Like, right. Like we could vote out Abby here. But like, I mean, like, she's not going to beat us. Why don't we just keep her running?
[00:46:58] Like, no, we just can't. Like, Denise is like, I'm not sitting next to Abby in the end. I don't care what y'all got to do. We got to vote her out. You know, the quality of life vote, as they call it, I guess. I believe you coined that at some point in the evolution of strategy. They're like, sometimes you just don't want to sit next to somebody. You don't want to live with them no more. But that's not what they're talking about with Jason. They don't seem to mind it. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I wonder where it shifts, right? Because he's right there. He's such a go. Got the horns and everything. And you're just like, no, we got to vote out.
[00:47:29] I don't know. Maybe Michelle wins immunity next time. And then there's not. They have to eat their own. And it's so much easier to just go ahead and get out Jason. And, you know, I wonder if there's a thawing between Jason and Sydney that they were number ones from the beginning of the game. Scott Pollard had said, right, that they got blindsided when Jason and didn't want to keep in Jennifer Lanzetti.
[00:47:57] And I think that there was, like, I really think that there was something there with Sydney and Scott that they are. I think there was more than was even in the show about their issues. And so I wonder without Scott there, maybe there's a little bit of a thawing between Sydney and Jason. Yeah. You know, you could definitely see something like that happening because let's just say Jason and Sydney have always been still relatively cool. But, of course, they've had their tensions.
[00:48:25] But when you got Scott chirping in your ear, like, isn't Sydney the worst? She sucks. This girl Sydney is awful. Then Jason's like, yeah, she's awful. Now that he's gone, she's like, mommy, it's not that bad. And I did know her from the beginning of the game. And my number one is gone. And I hate Ty more. You know, so it's like, I don't want to talk to Aubrey. Oh, God. So I was like, oh, okay, Sydney, we're broads, right? We can mend fences a little bit. I could definitely see that as a thing. Yep. Okay. So we're down to the final six, believe it or not. Crazy.
[00:48:56] This is a cool way of rewatching the season, Rob. It's been very fun to just, like, knock out a little episode here. It's like nothing, nothing too strenuous, nothing crazy, but it's fun. And Koran's a top 20 season for a lot of people. And so we haven't had a lot of nerds. I think, yeah, I think this was probably the slowest episode. Even then, it was like still fun. Yep. Okay. We'll be back for episode 12 coming up next as we're down to only 12, 13.
[00:49:26] And then episode 14 is the finale. Chappelle, what else is coming up for you? Catch me on recapkickback.com. YouTube.com slash at Recap Kickback. [00:50:23] But when you want to get smarter about your money or your time, you got to check out all the hacks. The host is named Chris Hutchins. He's a financial optimizer. Not like Emily Flippin. He sold two companies. He traveled to over 60 countries, mostly for free. Racked up millions of rewards points every week. He breaks down exactly how he thinks about getting more out of life without spending more to do it. It's one of those shows where you finish an episode and immediately want to change something.
[00:50:52] Two episodes worth your time. Episodes 170 on cash back versus points, which reframes how to actually think about credit card strategy. And episode 176 with Nick Reyes, redeeming points for maximum value. It really pairs well. Between the two, you'll have a completely different approach on how to get travel rewards. No fluff, just proven playbooks to travel better, spend smarter, and design a life you're excited about. Every episode has at least one thing that you can act on the same day.
