Deal or No Deal Island EXPLAINED

Today, Rob explains what Deal or No Deal Island for the uninitiated.

[00:00:08] Hey everybody, Rob Sestradino here, and as one of the world's number one Deal or No Deal Island superfans,

[00:00:15] I'm here to answer a question I get all the time.

[00:00:18] Rob, what's the deal with Deal or No Deal Island?

[00:00:22] So let me open up this metaphorical and literal briefcase that holds everything you need to know about Deal or No Deal Island,

[00:00:30] or as we refer to it lovingly, Dondi.

[00:00:34] And I'm breaking it down so easily, you're even going to be able to explain it to your parents.

[00:00:39] Okay, so you know Deal or No Deal, but imagine instead of a fancy studio, we're on this crazy, mysterious island,

[00:00:47] owned by the banker, the ultimate capitalist with a capital C.

[00:00:52] Enter our players, all vying for huge cases of cash in the millions of dollars.

[00:00:58] The show is hosted by Joe Manganiello, who's there to enforce the rules,

[00:01:02] but he's really the good cop to the shadowy banker who lords over the island.

[00:01:07] Each week, there are challenges where the players are vying to get the highest value case in the competition.

[00:01:14] Sometimes the challenges are more physical,

[00:01:16] but there's always some element of strategy to how to get the most valuable case.

[00:01:20] There's also a lot of iced tea.

[00:01:22] They don't really ever explain why.

[00:01:24] Why is there so much iced tea?

[00:01:25] The players who secure the highest value cases each week get immunity, which is great,

[00:01:31] because the challenge winner also gets to be the chooser, deciding who walks into the banker's temple.

[00:01:38] No, it's not where you go to find inner peace.

[00:01:41] It's where our eliminations take place.

[00:01:44] In the temple, you pick out your case,

[00:01:46] and then you play a high-stakes game of deal or no deal versus the banker.

[00:01:53] The banker calls in with an offer.

[00:01:57] You accept an offer higher than what's in your case.

[00:02:00] You're safe.

[00:02:01] You get to send someone else packing.

[00:02:04] Accept an offer that's less.

[00:02:06] You're packing your bags.

[00:02:08] Hope you brought a good book for the flight home.

[00:02:11] All the money from these deals goes into this growing jackpot.

[00:02:14] It's like my hairline, but in reverse.

[00:02:17] The pot isn't just for the show.

[00:02:20] It's for the prize for the final player.

[00:02:23] When we get to the last player, it's all or nothing.

[00:02:26] They play deal or no deal for everything, every dollar, every cent from every deal.

[00:02:31] It's like the final tribal council, but with numbers instead of votes.

[00:02:34] Could you be the one to outsmart the banker?

[00:02:36] Or will you walk away with just an epic fist bump from Joe Manganiello?

[00:02:41] Season one had my old buddy Rob Mariano play.

[00:02:43] And if you missed it, it was Boston Rob at the peak of his powers.

[00:02:47] Season two is going to bring in even more reality royalty with Dr. Will Kirby, Parvati Shallow,

[00:02:52] and the golden god from Australian survivor, David Jeanette.

[00:02:56] There you have it.

[00:02:57] It's Dondi for dummies.

[00:02:59] Part strategy, part luck, all entertainment.

[00:03:02] Tune in for season two, kicking off January 7th on NBC.

[00:03:06] Of course, we'll be covering it all season long with my banker's assistants, Jenny Autumn and Chappelle.

[00:03:11] We'll have episode recaps, interviews with the cast, maybe a few surprises along the way.
