[00:00:00] Hey everybody, what's going on Rob Cesternino back here to kick off another season of Survivor

[00:00:10] pre-game interviews for Survivor 47 and of course this is now such an institution here

[00:00:19] of the new era to break it all down with give it up for Mike Bloom

[00:00:27] Yes, I love getting to do this and I love especially talking about Lavo today

[00:00:33] and oh we've got a lot to talk about in this particular batch.

[00:00:37] Yes okay so today we are going to be beginning the first of our nine days in a row listening to

[00:00:45] and then talking about the 18 Survivor contestants two days coming up today will be talking about

[00:00:53] a woman that is named is it pronounce this Asia Asia like continent Asia Welsh and Genevieve will

[00:01:06] be talking about here today on this episode of the podcast two interesting women looking forward

[00:01:12] to talking about both of them of course to hear all of our pre-season interviews that Mike

[00:01:20] recorded with the players you can hear that in our Survivor podcast feed and the Rob's podcast main

[00:01:27] feed you could find them both at Rob is website.com subscribe and then also watch them on our YouTube

[00:01:32] channel at Rob has a website.com youtube Mike this time the players were in Fiji but you

[00:01:39] were talking to them remotely yes so of course over the course of the new era I've had the

[00:01:45] pleasure of being able to for the first four seasons send in questions to be asked to

[00:01:49] them and then you and I kind of reviewed them starting with 45 I've been able to talk to them

[00:01:53] face-to-face so I put that in quotations because for 47 it's very much like 45 where I was not at

[00:02:00] the time able to make it out to Fiji but I did have the pleasure of getting to talk with these

[00:02:05] people over this this thing called the internet Rob I'm not sure if you've heard about it so

[00:02:10] I got the chance to interview these contestants in the pre-season they have been waiting on

[00:02:15] pins and needles at the point that I've been speaking with them I will say they have a pretty

[00:02:19] dang pristine background which really does show that they're beautiful yes okay so what we're going

[00:02:25] to do is that we're going to set up who you're gonna hear from gonna hear from Asia first and

[00:02:30] then Genevieve and then Mike and I are going to come back after you watch the interviews

[00:02:36] we'll have the time codes in the YouTube description if you uh I guess you if you're

[00:02:41] listening to this for the future reference you can just skip ahead to where the interviews are

[00:02:47] to see the interviews from the contestants and then we will jump back into talking about how

[00:02:54] any interesting reactions we had and how we think they might do just part of our pre-season

[00:03:00] coverage here on our HAP yeah so a few things before we get into it because again as we'll

[00:03:07] discover with this cast there are many different points that people can enter the highway that

[00:03:11] is survivor right a bunch of different on ramps and hopefully no off ramps as it were so there might

[00:03:17] be some people that are coming in for the first time maybe I don't know followers of one particular

[00:03:22] notable face this season probably wondering what the heck this is so just to reset things

[00:03:27] a little bit I think a lot of the Asia fans are already subscribed but okay yeah yeah I mean

[00:03:32] exactly but you never know you never know her reach out there uh but I got the chance to

[00:03:37] talk with these contestants while they were out in Fiji waiting for the game to begin all these

[00:03:42] interviews were done before season 47 proper started what's interesting is for those that don't know

[00:03:48] you are not allowed to talk or engage with any of the other players while you were there in

[00:03:54] Fiji until the game starts they really want to make that first interaction happen when the

[00:03:59] cameras are rolling on day one so these people have just kind of been sitting with their own

[00:04:04] thoughts about themselves about the other players and unfortunately for them they have to talk to my

[00:04:08] goofy ass about it it's one of those first people that they do get to speak with I have to of course

[00:04:13] give some some blanket thank yous to CBS as always for giving me the opportunity to do this it is

[00:04:19] one of my favorite things I get to do because it's a great way to get to know these people

[00:04:23] and their own expectations of how they'll do in the game then of course we'll see uh how

[00:04:28] they measure up just a couple of technical things off the top uh these interviews were limited to

[00:04:33] around 15 minutes a piece so we got to some questions in some interviews and not some questions

[00:04:38] in other ones just to sort of fit that some sort of exceed it some sort of sort of follow the behind

[00:04:43] it but they all kind of range in the 15 minutes range from a timing perspective this took place

[00:04:49] a little bit out of time Rob so these interviews were done after the final eight episode of

[00:04:56] survivor 46 air so if you're listening to these interviews and you're like why are they still

[00:05:01] talking about survivor 46 don't they know that this happened and this happened probably not uh this

[00:05:06] happened in the beginning of the may they just witnessed Liz's apple bees meltdown and said yep

[00:05:12] that's what i'm bottling to go into survivor with okay so that's where we are in terms of history

[00:05:18] anything else to set up Mike so obviously with this being over the internet we are of course uh

[00:05:23] you know servants of the gods of connectivity so there might be some point especially when

[00:05:29] you're watching the video version of this where the video or audio might be a little bit choppy a

[00:05:33] special shout out to the team behind the curtain here on rhap for trying to smooth things out to

[00:05:38] the best of our ability to package things for your listening and viewing pleasure but just know

[00:05:42] that uh at the end of the day uh you know where we're trying to put forward the best

[00:05:46] product we can given the the limitations that might have existed from telecasting this stuff

[00:05:51] you know and nearly 12 hours away from each other but regardless there's some really fun

[00:05:55] interviews this is a really fun cast and i'm excited to get into it okay very fun to get into

[00:05:59] all this Mike are we ready to talk a little bit about that asia yeah so it turns out we're starting

[00:06:05] with with a big one here we are talking about asia welch of course asia is 32 years old she is

[00:06:13] from qston texas she is a senior consultant for an uh hr it company she'll explain that in our

[00:06:21] interview but i think she's perhaps more well known rob for being a face and name associated with this

[00:06:29] very podcast yeah so asia became a part of the rhap podcasting team uh back in 2020 we put out a

[00:06:39] big search to add podcasting talent to our ranks here at rhap asia was a standout then

[00:06:48] she hit the ground running becoming a big brother podcaster very early on she came to me and said hey

[00:06:57] we need to start covering married at first sight on rhap wasn't a show that i had was

[00:07:03] super familiar with i remember the first podcast i did with her about it uh we went on to start a

[00:07:10] what was originally a married at first sight rap up uh that's now uh the uh love at first sight

[00:07:16] feed and asia and jason reid have built a nice little community of their own uh around the fans of

[00:07:25] that show asia also podcasts about love is blind here on rhap with uh mary kwikowski

[00:07:34] back in survivor 41 we also instituted a little thing called the survivor

[00:07:39] podcaster draft and she was one of six people who was drafting players before the season

[00:07:45] we will have the draft return for survivor 47 uh where very oddly asia will be drafted and not

[00:07:54] drafting uh for survivor 47 and so uh be on the lookout for that uh i think that was going to

[00:08:01] come up a little bit uh in the interview but mike i just want to assuage any concerns that people

[00:08:09] might have about uh any impropriety in the podcasting space about that there could be any

[00:08:19] sort of favoritism uh around asia and i look forward to the challenge of being able to

[00:08:29] have the opportunity to talk about someone uh that i consider to be a friend and a colleague but also

[00:08:36] be able to talk about their game squarely as if they were any other contestant on the show

[00:08:44] i think it is a challenge that i am up for i've known many people who have come through

[00:08:51] the uh survivor experience and have i feel like been able to uh fairly and plainly be able to

[00:08:59] describe everybody's games i feel like that uh i am uniquely qualified to be able to do this all

[00:09:07] season long i was going to say yeah someone who has been through the process there not even once

[00:09:12] but twice and getting to digest from very different perspectives how your game is perceived

[00:09:17] yes it's really interesting because to your point we certainly have had people who are friendly with

[00:09:22] the podcast including a couple of other people from this season come through and you know you

[00:09:27] certainly have have sort of negotiated those relationships as well but this is really a rarity

[00:09:31] this is far and away the closest we have had someone within the rhap network on one of these

[00:09:39] shows and i think it is going to be an interesting test of as we've been talking about a lot

[00:09:43] especially with social media discourse a truly separating conversation from the character we

[00:09:49] see on television versus the person they actually are when we're not watching them for you know 90

[00:09:55] minutes a week all right mike without any further ado are we ready to hear from asia yes it is

[00:10:01] still truly surreal even watching this interview back for the umpteen time and you can see my

[00:10:06] surreality in the moment almost immediately as well okay all right mike i'll let you take it away

[00:10:13] first question i have for you is what the hell what are you doing there oh my god

[00:10:21] you know it's just like what i just you know out of it yeah you know one thing led to another

[00:10:27] you know i decided to apply and here i am that's putting it mildly i mean we're going to

[00:10:34] into all that for those who are not in the know let's get the basic introduction out of you

[00:10:39] let's get your your name your age where you're from occupation okay so i'm asia welch and that's

[00:10:45] asia like the continent because constantly when people will see the spelling of my name i get

[00:10:50] every variation but asia well be prepared i'm assuming that's going to continue in this game

[00:10:56] i know i am 32 years old i live in houston texas and i am a senior consultant at like an hr it company

[00:11:05] okay interesting are you more on the hr side or more on the it side because i know more on the it

[00:11:11] side like i constantly get people like oh so you hire and fire people like no no no no when

[00:11:18] people need to hire and fire people but they can't figure out how to do that do it in the system

[00:11:23] that's when they come to us and like hey i tried to hire somebody but it's not working properly so

[00:11:27] i'm like oh let me go look at the configuration and let me figure it out so it's a lot of problem

[00:11:31] solving so i'm constantly problem solving every single day which is why i've been in this career

[00:11:36] for 11 years um which is what blows my mind but uh yeah i love it because you know it pays the bills

[00:11:44] well listen we're talking about a career change that could also pay a very large bill at the

[00:11:49] end of the day let's talk about i mean listen again people who follow you know that you are a

[00:11:54] fan of survivor but let's go in depth about you know your history and also what brought you from

[00:12:00] fan and content creator podcaster to actually applying and being on the show yeah so well

[00:12:07] mike i'm still trying to get over looking at you right now i'm just still blowing my mind

[00:12:13] right but yes okay so i've been watching survivors since i was 12 years old and it was

[00:12:21] something like my mom watched since day one and then at 12 i was like watching and she put me on

[00:12:27] and so then me my brother her and my dad we would always watch um and it just became one of those

[00:12:34] things that's a family event like you know first thursdays and you know then it turned into

[00:12:38] wednesdays like we're you were watching survivor every week couldn't wait and so for me growing up

[00:12:43] it was like survivor looks so hard like who wants to wants to go outside and like literally i've never

[00:12:50] been camping i've never done anything to that has made me live outside i mean i didn't even grow up

[00:12:57] going to like summer camps or anything like that i was inside okay so and so for me a survivor

[00:13:03] always seemed so so so so hard but now that i'm 32 years old i'm at this point in my life where like

[00:13:09] i have everything in a really good place i have two dogs that i love in a door um i have a beautiful

[00:13:16] home that i bought for us like i'm in a great place in my career i'm at that point where i'm

[00:13:21] like there was so long i was like okay what's the next level what's the next level and i'm

[00:13:25] finally at a point where i'm like i'm coasting i'm in a really great place right you know

[00:13:31] and then i get to have my creative outlet with podcasting that's really fun and so then i was

[00:13:36] just like you know what and i'm in a place where i feel like i really know myself more than i ever

[00:13:40] have and i said you know what let me apply but see what happens you know what's the worst can

[00:13:46] happen i don't hear back right but then i kept hearing back and i kept hearing back and i kept

[00:13:50] hearing back and i was like how is this happening i'm so confused how this is happening

[00:13:56] and so i was just like on cloud nine throughout the entire casting process and now i'm actually

[00:14:01] in phygy and it still hasn't hit i'm still in cloud nine i wake up every morning like okay pinching

[00:14:06] myself because i'm in phygy in house i'm like when is it gonna hit me i'm probably with my toes are

[00:14:11] in the sand and i'm seeing jeff that i'll just be like i'm playing the game of survivor

[00:14:16] but right now it still feels like i'm dreaming yeah i mean you'll be you might be on cloud

[00:14:20] nine because that's also the name of the pizza restaurant that is on a floating barge out in

[00:14:24] the sea so you might be visiting that later on but hopefully hopefully not too soon so looking back

[00:14:29] on survivor history give me one winner and one non-winner who you identify with the most

[00:14:35] well that is such an easy question okay so one winner is natalie anderson i have been like

[00:14:42] i loved her game i love how like she was so just like competent herself so physically strong

[00:14:50] just like she is who you would want to be as a woman uh to go out there and kill i mean probably

[00:14:56] some men too would want to be hard to just go out there and kill it right and she's just so

[00:15:00] unapologetically herself and confident and so like i've been in the gym consistently for like

[00:15:05] six months preparing for like if i need to be the strong woman on my tribe i can i can do it

[00:15:11] right um so i did a lot of weight lifting a lot of strength conditioning leading into this

[00:15:16] so i feel like i can relate to natalie in that way um and then and then even like her you know

[00:15:22] having that tight bond with jeremy as like a brother i'm looking for a brother out here like

[00:15:27] me and my little brother we are so close he is six year younger than me but he is one of my

[00:15:32] best friends like people look at us and they're like wait who's older i'm like well i don't know

[00:15:37] if that's a compliment or what is like because he's six-year younger um but like i'm looking for

[00:15:42] like somebody who can feel in the role as my brother somebody that i can like really you know

[00:15:47] rely on and so when i think of that i think of like natalie but then a non-winner non-winner

[00:15:52] i relate to is definitely syrie loves syrie and i feel like my relationships in the game

[00:15:59] are going to be what drives me to the end um i love people i love learning about people

[00:16:05] i have friends of all different types i'm just so like i'm so interested in like how people

[00:16:12] became who they are why do they do what they do why do they behave the way that they had behave like

[00:16:17] what has happened in their life to get them to where they are today and so people fascinate me

[00:16:21] like i'm the type of person like i took a flight some months ago where the girl next to me i was

[00:16:26] like we look the same age i talked to her for the entire three-hour flight like i was just so

[00:16:31] curious about her life and like we ended up following each other instagram and i was like

[00:16:37] i literally have at least six or seven contacts in my phone it's like so and so so and so met on

[00:16:42] flight i just okay always like if i'm on a flight and you don't have headphones in your ear

[00:16:47] i'm in the clear like we don't have a conversation so especially i'm just so intrigued so i'm

[00:16:55] i'm here you know seeing everybody and i'm so interested in like their stories like i'm like

[00:17:01] we all you know obviously we can't talk right now but i'm like you're here for a reason i know i'm

[00:17:06] here for a reason you're all here for reasons like what what is it that you know survivors saw

[00:17:12] and you said you should play this game like that's what i want to know about everyone

[00:17:16] and of course some people we might not find out because it was like that's a secret they

[00:17:19] want to carry forward but i still want to get to know like well where are you from like there's

[00:17:24] this one guy that has on like he wore a san Antonio Spurs hat one day today he's wearing

[00:17:28] Oklahoma sweatshirt so i'm like where are you from like i can't i don't know are you from

[00:17:33] texas are you from Oklahoma like i don't understand watch he be from like New York or

[00:17:36] something and so i'm so curious about learning about people and then also i wanted i wanted

[00:17:43] to be genuine like i want i feel like that's something that seri was able to do masterfully

[00:17:48] was connect with people on a genuine level because i want them to feel like it's not my strategy

[00:17:54] because i am smart what i do for a living it requires a certain level of intelligence

[00:17:59] and i am a physical like physical i believe that i would be a physical threat

[00:18:05] because i i play basketball my entire life i love i can lift pretty heavy and so i have

[00:18:12] endurance and so i feel like that part of myself i want to be able to utilize especially to to help

[00:18:19] my tribe but i don't want them to think that my social game is my strategy because then i feel

[00:18:25] like it will help people genuinely like me maybe even love me like i want people to fall in love

[00:18:30] in the shortest amount of time ever listen you cover married at first sight you're all about

[00:18:34] you know love right there in the moment yeah like fall in love with me in 10 days and

[00:18:41] then you don't want to vote me out right there we go that's that's the ideal plan now look we got to

[00:18:46] talk about you know the 500 pound microphone in the room you are someone who knows these shows

[00:18:51] deeply broadcast your thoughts about them deeply and on the one hand that should give you an advantage

[00:18:56] with knowledge about the show but we know the path of survivor is laid by plenty of super fans

[00:19:01] who come in thinking they know everything and very much so like how much are you guiding

[00:19:06] your own expectations of the skill set and knowledge you're bringing versus what might

[00:19:09] actually happen you know that's why i'm relying so heavily on my personal relationships because i

[00:19:16] could feel like i i could know so much about this show like i know every season in order i know every

[00:19:22] winner and you'll pass that journey challenge then right exactly i was like if last season they did

[00:19:27] seasons maybe they're gonna do winners this season i'm banking on that i'm making banking

[00:19:37] you can know so much about this game and still fall flat on your face we've seen it time and time

[00:19:43] again so that's why even coming into this it wasn't even something that i leaned into heavily like i

[00:19:49] didn't lean into the like they know i'm a super fan but that wasn't my why my why is because of who

[00:19:54] i am as a person and the personal relationships that i can form the you know the strength that

[00:20:01] i can bring the awareness of myself to be able to navigate myself with different kinds of people

[00:20:06] because i've worked with so many different kinds of people of all you know political affiliations

[00:20:12] of all religions of all you know everything and so i feel like because i'm leaning into who i am

[00:20:18] as a person that's going to help me whereas like my knowledge of the game is secondary

[00:20:23] and can hopefully hopefully come into play obviously not to repeat mistakes like season 46

[00:20:30] and not playing idols when you need to be playing idols but being able to just have the

[00:20:35] awareness like wait people are moving differently right okay maybe if i do have an idol i should

[00:20:40] play it you know never never feel too safe and so i think maybe my knowledge of the history is

[00:20:45] like not to repeat you know past mistakes but i think my strength in the game will be who i am

[00:20:51] as a person and what i'm able to bring to like relationships so you mentioned you know a bit

[00:20:57] about finding a brother or sibling in the game you mentioned uh he a very confusing geography who are

[00:21:03] some people right now in the silent spirit you're in that you are either vibing with or not vibing

[00:21:09] with in terms of first impressions cool okay i will say so when i say so i so i do want to

[00:21:17] find a brother and that's because the men are so hard to read the season i don't know what it is

[00:21:23] i don't know what it is but we're in when we are all together they're just like

[00:21:29] stone phase like i'm like give me a smile show me you're happy to be here the women

[00:21:34] smiling just grins all like i saw we're hurting our cheeks smiling at each other right

[00:21:40] and so i'm like i'm like okay this is positive by certain people like within the guys i'm just like

[00:21:47] i know it's gonna be a challenge so that's what makes me want to engage in playing hard to get

[00:21:52] yeah even more i'm like you i see you don't want it so that's why i'm gonna want it for you i want

[00:21:58] you to be like wow this girl i didn't think i did not think we were going to have a connection

[00:22:02] but i don't i don't know that's just my that has been my strength in life is just like no matter

[00:22:07] the differences we're gonna find a connection in some way some type some shape or form and the other

[00:22:12] thing that i was concerned about obviously my relation to rhap who would recognize me right

[00:22:19] so obviously i know that some people have recognized me um one person in particular i do

[00:22:26] know has recognized me just to look on his face and then obviously there's another person well i

[00:22:36] feel like he reckoned because he like looks at me like when we first saw each other he looked at me

[00:22:41] in a way that felt like do i know you but i know i don't know him from somewhere right and so yeah

[00:22:48] that's one thing that's going to be interesting to see if that plays a part and just like our love

[00:22:52] for rhap are we gonna have a connection are you gonna think just because i do the draft

[00:22:57] that i'm a threat which shouldn't be the case so i just wanted i want to be able to form

[00:23:02] connections so they know like look it's a hobby that's not anything that's threatening please

[00:23:09] this is this that's that's like this is all of our first time playing survivor we have no idea

[00:23:14] what we're about to face we have no idea what jeff and survivor is going to throw at us and so

[00:23:21] it's just like we have to navigate that we have to be ready for the unknown be adaptable

[00:23:25] and we're all doing that no one is on uh any kind of like different playing field just because

[00:23:30] they talk too much about something what is your most controversial survivor opinion give me your

[00:23:37] survivor hot take i know you got one oh okay so i feel like people are hard on the wacky phrases

[00:23:48] from season 41 and 42 bring them back okay okay i feel like there's so much you could do with it

[00:23:55] like mat chats are a thing right so do something that like maybe jeff isn't aware of like make jeff laugh

[00:24:01] make jeff belly laugh you know and if you have the ability that next time you go cast a vote you

[00:24:06] have an extra vote or you have an idol or something or call someone out on a different tribe yeah

[00:24:12] that's risky right but it's it's gonna be a big payoff if you can get an idol so you're

[00:24:18] basically asking for like team america to come in survivor form of like do these secret tasks

[00:24:22] right i want i want these things like i need people to be able to say a thing right at the

[00:24:29] at the mat chats and then get a word from it that's why i really like the wacky phrases like obviously

[00:24:34] the what they had the bunny rabbit and that that's too obvious do something that someone you know

[00:24:41] several you know say something that people will remember like imagine if jelinski was able to

[00:24:46] get something from it that was that had a lasting impact like we're on a survivor 40 several so like

[00:24:52] imagine i just i think there's so much you could do with it and they should just revisit that last

[00:24:58] question you know what i'm gonna ask if you could pick a celebrity or a fictional character to come

[00:25:02] out for a loved one's visit who you bring in i thought a lot about this and it is definitely

[00:25:09] it definitely has to do with what i feel like i'm gonna need so i'm a person that believes

[00:25:14] a day without laughter is a day wasted i have like i've hung on to that quote from wherever i saw it

[00:25:20] for a year because i just like i love laughing and i love like when when i can find something

[00:25:27] that makes someone else laugh oh i'm sticking to it like that's my thing right and so i think

[00:25:33] mine i have two people that just always make me laugh issa ray the creator of insecure

[00:25:40] and uh quinta brunson the creator of abbey elementary i feel like they

[00:25:46] had just such a gift i feel like if they were to come out they would just make me laugh and it

[00:25:52] would just be all the healing i need for this hard 26 day game so yeah the easy one of them too

[00:26:00] not to mention it gives them inspiration to create their own you know survivor like comedy

[00:26:04] series look i'll mike white there's another one coming down the barrel exactly yeah i i i feel like

[00:26:11] that would be an amazing opportunity for them so this is what that i'm giving them that opportunity

[00:26:15] well i want to give you an opportunity because look i i may be speaking out of turn

[00:26:19] but i feel like as a drafter who is on survivor i think you deserve the right to pick the person

[00:26:27] to draft you because you know all these people are going to be fighting for you i think you

[00:26:33] get to declare right here right now who is picking asia welch as the winner of server 547 i

[00:26:39] talked about this because i'm like okay scenario whoever goes first doesn't pick me should my feelings

[00:26:48] be hurt like should i be offended you know but then you know i i'm sure they're amazing people

[00:26:54] here there are probably other people that they can see you know some potential with right

[00:26:59] but if i had to pick someone i'm not picking shannon i can't pick shannon

[00:27:08] oh man oh if i had to pick someone

[00:27:12] i would say either it's a close call either leon or ship ill one of those two yeah i like this

[00:27:20] let's leave it to them to fight it out yeah this is you showing your skills already right

[00:27:26] you're like i'm picking a select few but like you decide amongst yourselves i'm not picking

[00:27:29] right right like if poohia picks me do you poohia right but you know if i had to pick

[00:27:38] you know the love runs deep but yeah i'm just so excited to be here i was from the moment i got

[00:27:45] the official call i couldn't wait to talk to you so i just i was just so excited for this

[00:27:51] moment right here i've been waiting patiently patiently to see your face so i'm just really

[00:27:57] excited and i'm just gonna go out there and give him my all and to say i'm excited for you as an

[00:28:03] understatement you know how much i adore you and what you know we've been able to build over the

[00:28:07] past few years and getting to just see you right now not only is it surreal but hearing you talk

[00:28:12] even more about you know what you plan on bringing and your life and how it's led up to this

[00:28:16] point it just fills me with so much joy and i i am still in a little disbelief that we get to see

[00:28:23] you as a survivor player but it has just made me so eager with anticipation to see what is going to

[00:28:29] happen and i i am so excited when we get the chance to next talk about this when it will be in

[00:28:34] december when you are crowned the winner of survival 47 yes thank you so much my my blue

[00:28:39] oh thank you asia i will let you get back to you know your silent retreat as the anticipation

[00:28:45] builds up but i will see you on the other side my friends i'm so excited for you all right everybody

[00:28:51] there you have it asia welch and oh my god she did so good this is amazing yeah rock

[00:28:59] i can't believe this is happening can i just like incredible can i briefly describe the timeline

[00:29:07] yes so because i i popped up now oh i mean how can you not be here's the thing is that

[00:29:13] some people have asked me especially when asia's face showed up on the teaser for 47 like

[00:29:19] what was your reaction like when you saw her sit down in front of you in front of that picturesque

[00:29:23] background and let me just again talk a little bit about how the sausage gets made so for those

[00:29:27] of us that are doing pre-season press we all know that the background was picturesque when they

[00:29:32] asked you this question i i don't know i think they just had to assume they see all listen when

[00:29:37] you film in fiji for nearly a decade rob you assume that things are pretty dang picturesque sir

[00:29:42] did you get such a picturesque background and what was your reaction yeah it's part of my f aq is

[00:29:48] honestly top of the line but another f aq again is like how did you react when you found out that

[00:29:52] asia was on the cast so those of us that do pre-season press we are given a list of cast

[00:29:56] members ahead of time just so we are at least somewhat prepared for who is going to come

[00:30:01] sit down and talk survivor with us and so my wife in angela can tell you this i was

[00:30:06] just sitting at home we were playing with our son and i got an email i was like oh look the

[00:30:09] cast members for survivor 47 let me look through it was listening alphabetic order by first name

[00:30:14] i thought like oh andi rueda will certainly get to him oh that's a film in your face i'm glad to

[00:30:18] see that he is on the cast oh anika dar she seems interesting and when i tell you rob i

[00:30:26] threw my phone on the bed and stood up as if it had transformed into some sort of large bug

[00:30:33] and like almost recoiled out of joy it's an odd phrase but it just sort of blew my mind because

[00:30:41] i personally had no idea that she had had any inclination of ever wanting to come on to survivor

[00:30:49] let alone going through all the entire process to actually make her way out there into fiji

[00:30:53] yeah your reaction was like it was palpable like you're the amount of joy that you had

[00:31:00] talking to her and you know you were very sweet at the end of the video and you know it is super

[00:31:08] exciting i think it really i've heard from so many people in the rjp community about how

[00:31:13] excited they are for asia and i think it just speaks to the type of person she is and i think

[00:31:19] also the ability that i think she's going to be able to take with her into the game she loves

[00:31:26] people she made that very clear i think that that happens to be the one common denominator among all

[00:31:32] the great survivor players while there are many different survivor play styles we've seen so

[00:31:37] many different people succeed at this game over the years the one thing that they all have in

[00:31:41] common is that they uh have a love for getting to know people and asia like spoke about that

[00:31:51] so wonderfully in her like what you know if she sees anybody raw dogging it on a plane like

[00:32:00] that's what it's called mike you just sit there and are staring ahead on the plane not listening

[00:32:04] to anything and if asia sees you she's going to strike up a conversation and so i would be intrigued

[00:32:09] to maybe they should do like those big remember they used to do on big brother evictions like

[00:32:12] let's talk with the people from their their personal lives back up i would love to talk

[00:32:16] with the person that was on the other end of that conversation that asia had a few months back

[00:32:20] just to see like what is asian in her phone you know yeah because i think to your point that is

[00:32:26] something that we all have in common as podcasters and look i'm assuming that people would you

[00:32:32] know think that we'd say this but i do think asia from a skill set perspective is set up to do

[00:32:37] very well in the game and i think it's because and we'll certainly get into this with the

[00:32:42] cast rob this is an interesting cast that is full of a lot of like surprisingly broadcasting

[00:32:47] personalities she does not necessarily feel you know big and ot t in a way that some podcasters

[00:32:54] might help myself included asia has always been someone to me that has come across as

[00:32:58] very down to earth very chill and very personable and so i don't think she necessarily would be

[00:33:04] that person that even though she does have experience you know being that person to speak

[00:33:09] as an expert about a number of things in reality tv as she talked about in my interview she's not

[00:33:14] necessarily looking to be that person that like will always have something to say at all times

[00:33:18] yeah i think she's really going to lean on that i think that that's really the the right way

[00:33:23] to go i think that she seems to have struck a right balance between knowledge of the show but

[00:33:30] also not necessarily like counting on that banking on that superfan background to be able to

[00:33:37] carry her i think that she has all of the you know skill sets that you would want in a survivor

[00:33:44] player for all the different facets of the game i think she's smart she's strong she's super social

[00:33:51] i think that she could be very deadly in this game i think that uh you know she is somebody who

[00:33:58] seems accomplished in their career so i think that she has some strong instincts in terms of

[00:34:05] like how to move herself forward the one thing that is a concern for me is that you know how many people

[00:34:13] have you know recognized her she clocked a couple of people that seem to know her how much of a

[00:34:21] threat is that to other players that you know she is you know associated with a network

[00:34:29] that podcast about survivor yeah i mean it's an interesting point to bring up i mean we will

[00:34:35] certainly get into this with the rest of the cast and of course the various levels of fandom

[00:34:39] that are brought in i will say that there are a couple of cast members that do recognize her but

[00:34:45] without spoiling their interviews too much it's a very positive spin at the moment it's very

[00:34:50] much this is a familiar face from a very uh great community that i associate myself with

[00:34:56] perfect this is somebody that i want to work with and i don't know i personally feel like especially

[00:35:01] when you get towards like the pointy end of the game it's knowledge about the show something

[00:35:05] that people really feel like should be wielded like a cudgel of wagon to get rid of someone

[00:35:09] let me say this is where it goes sideways okay so let's say okay so okay so asia is on the the

[00:35:16] podcast network and even though she's not primarily a survivor podcaster she ends up okay

[00:35:22] another person recognizes okay asia a person who listens to survivor podcasts okay great we're

[00:35:28] doing great so far now that information telephone game goes to another person you know somebody

[00:35:35] who may not be a survivor podcast listener is like what she's she does podcasts about survivor

[00:35:41] all right that we can't be having that she's so the person that doesn't even recognize her

[00:35:47] or has ever listened to her on the podcast i think is the where's the most danger is coming from

[00:35:52] the person who just like uh like okay oh superfan she knows too much uh now now she's a threat

[00:35:59] because of that yeah i mean that's an interesting perspective i mean the way that she sort of

[00:36:04] presented the argument to me was not unlike the way bruce talked to me in survivor 45 when

[00:36:09] i asked him like oh what advantage will you have over the other contest is he says

[00:36:13] i'm trying to put forward the argument of once those 11 hours pass on day one we're all in the

[00:36:18] same boat and a just trying to do the same thing as well like i've talked about the show but we're

[00:36:22] all experiencing it for the first time that being said we saw this as recently as q targeting

[00:36:27] someone for their favorite player you could come up with any reason a to z to go after somebody

[00:36:32] i personally think the dangers that aja could face is less about what she's affiliated with

[00:36:38] off camera and just more so for who she is on camera i'm really intrigued rob about how are these

[00:36:44] players going to approach this season having seen all of 45 and most of 46 and in particular watching

[00:36:51] someone like d in 45 of course they don't know that kenzie had won 46 which is this like mermaid

[00:36:57] dragon right the super social congenial player but we saw someone like d as well who was able

[00:37:02] to maintain incredible relationships do people have the the d-dar the rei d if you will where

[00:37:09] they're going to be looking at someone like aja who is very good socially has strategic acumen

[00:37:14] apparently very very good in challenges as well obviously has been physical her entire life

[00:37:18] and are their ears going to be more perked up to eyeballing someone like that than they did

[00:37:23] back in survivor 45 yeah i think we've talked about this all through the new era where

[00:37:28] players are so keenly aware of who the big threats are and i feel like the players that have been able

[00:37:34] to succeed and win the games are the players that for whatever reason are able to either

[00:37:40] camouflage or somehow minimize different aspects of their threat level where people

[00:37:46] are able to sort of like feel like okay i'm not as worried about them d being the exception

[00:37:54] except in that that she had a very strong alliance which was able to i think sort of like deflect some

[00:37:59] of the heat that she might have gotten so asia is going to have her work cut out for her for sure

[00:38:05] and i think that the players who play on survivor now in this era are very astute and

[00:38:12] very quick to recognize who are the players who can win and how do i eliminate them and

[00:38:18] you know the good news and the bad news is that asia is a player who can definitely win

[00:38:22] yeah i think the good news for asia is that barring any unforeseen circumstances i think she'll

[00:38:28] do okay in the pre-merge uh you know i do think from a physical standpoint she is the strongest

[00:38:33] woman on her tribe and listen depending on how the weight challenges shake out and depending

[00:38:38] how weight based there are she might be perceived as a big asset there which should protect her

[00:38:44] it's just the thing we always talk about in the new era rob which is when those

[00:38:48] perceptions get turned around at final 10 9 8 7 6 how do you overcome that hill from when you were

[00:38:57] once in a valley beforehand from being a target so i think that asia certainly has the capabilities

[00:39:02] to do so but i think she should also expect for that to come around as much as she talks about

[00:39:07] trying to make people fall in love with her instantaneously that love eventually turns into

[00:39:13] a love for a million dollars over weighing it yeah i'm just uh so proud of her that she is here

[00:39:19] that she's getting a chance to go after this survivor adventure i meant what i said about

[00:39:26] trying to be fair about it but uh it will be a challenge uh to do so and it's just like a palpable

[00:39:33] excitement and energy as well uh rob now listen not to talk too much about the draft but uh you

[00:39:40] do have i believe the choice right as to picking the order are you gonna follow a just rules here

[00:39:45] i am not beholden to asia's wishes i will do as i see fit as is my right as the winner of the survivor

[00:39:53] 46 draft okay there we go uh well a geat least gave her statement on it so make of it do

[00:39:59] leave it do leave it okay and i'm sure i'm sure the drafters themselves will have opinions after

[00:40:03] asia express the people that she did and did not want to draft her okay all right we're gonna take

[00:40:10] a quick break and when we come back let's hear about jennivy all right let's talk about the

[00:40:16] second of our two contestants that we're going to uh hear from today mike tell us a little bit about

[00:40:24] jennivy jennivy musheluk and if you think wow that's a real canadian-esque last name

[00:40:30] indeed she is she is our sort of requisite canadian representative on a season 47 jennivy

[00:40:37] also 32 years old from west st paul manitoba i believe first person from manitoba to be on

[00:40:44] survivor so we're slowly crossing off the provinces as we make our way throughout the new era and she

[00:40:49] is a corporate lawyer and she also then follows up in her bio quote aka super negotiator and deal

[00:40:56] maker okay sounds good send her to dandy we'll see it could be an immediate banker might like the cut

[00:41:04] of her jib yeah absolutely so we shall see maybe we should just start slowly funneling all survivor

[00:41:10] contestants over to dandy it should just be like the next stop after fiji okay uh look don't tempt me

[00:41:15] with a good time all right let's hear from jennivy even then we'll come back and talk about it on

[00:41:21] the other side of a hearing from jennivy are you doing right now honestly

[00:41:27] tired and overwhelmed and like just ready to go but i feel like i'm not the only one so

[00:41:33] that's comforting that's comforting well listen we'll start you off nice and easy to hopefully

[00:41:39] ease in on the exhaustion giving your name age and what you do okay jennivy musheluk 32 years

[00:41:47] old and i am a lawyer a lawyer okay what specific uh field of law are you in great question i am a

[00:41:55] corporate lawyer so like deals negotiations contracts like i'm in my most comfortable happy place

[00:42:00] buried behind paperwork i mean i'm hearing deals and negotiations i'm thinking survivor were you

[00:42:07] thinking the same way what has led you to these beaches yeah you know that's why i wanted to become

[00:42:12] a lawyer because i thought one day i'll get to be on season 47 and that means to be fair you watch

[00:42:18] you watch season 45 where there were three of them in the cast so like it's not too bad of a line to go

[00:42:23] down i know but three in the top six so now like i have no choice i have to make up a fake profession

[00:42:29] right um and i don't know anything else that well so and i'm a terrible liar so this it's going

[00:42:36] to be great it's a recipe for success right oh my god do you have anything on top of mind at the

[00:42:41] moment or is you just going to wing it when you get there no i've got a few things the leading idea is

[00:42:48] uh something like trademark brand related because that's a type of law i used to do and so i can make

[00:42:53] it um i get there's something there i gotta know the letter but i've got nothing but time to prepare

[00:43:00] and like picture my fake life and timeline and then i'll pick a title that's boring enough

[00:43:04] that like people's eyes glaze over when i talk about it and it sort of kills the conversation

[00:43:09] let's talk about what brings you to put your trademark on the game as it were what's your

[00:43:13] history with watching survivor and what made you decide that this is the game you wanted to play

[00:43:17] so i have been watching since i was a young child i i definitely cannot accept the uh

[00:43:26] the title of superfan because i don't have this all like committed to memory but i've watched

[00:43:30] for a long time and like casually enjoyed the show what made me want to apply was when i

[00:43:37] started watching i was like a very overconfident young woman watched and of course was like oh i

[00:43:42] could totally do that like 11 year old 11 year old me looking at the screen being like

[00:43:47] i could i could win this i'd be so amazing at those challenges of course like i don't eat fish

[00:43:51] i don't camp um i was like not athletic at all but like this totally unincense of confidence

[00:43:58] if i could do that um and i got older but never really lost that so i applied the night

[00:44:03] that canadians could first apply and so it's been a long time coming and each year i'd get a little

[00:44:09] bit closer and then rejected a little bit closer and rejected um but this year i'm out here unless

[00:44:16] like jeff's going to be like oh sorry you're wrong jenni vieve and uh take me out last minute but

[00:44:20] yes so that's well that's why i will test the scope of your fandom here can you give me

[00:44:26] one survivor winner and one non-winner who you identify with the most okay uh yes for a winner

[00:44:36] i identify with the most let's go with mary an new era so mary an um because when i get out there

[00:44:45] i'm going to be like buzzing and smiling so big and not able to control my excitement right i know

[00:44:51] you're writing your little blurb here you said that you're like a kid at heart basically

[00:44:54] that you have the energy of a seven-year-old uh yeah i've got a lot i'm a bubbly bouncy person um

[00:45:01] even when i'm sleep deprived i'm like constantly going at at a million miles a minute so i got to

[00:45:06] try and contain that and not like rub people the wrong way with it but uh to answer your

[00:45:11] original question okay non-winner identify with the most i would say like a mix of rissy and then

[00:45:18] lindsey from 42 um depends on the day um i'm a very mood-driven person so like

[00:45:25] yeah that's interesting i saw that as well that you know uh you talked about how you gave a couple

[00:45:31] new era players in your bio like between d and sydney basically saying like i could see my game

[00:45:36] going either way is it as simple as like catch me in the right time in the my right place i might

[00:45:41] be two different people uh yeah i catch me before after a meal before after bed sleep well i got bad

[00:45:49] news for you when it comes to survivor i know it's gonna be great um but yeah and that's such a

[00:45:55] good point there are so many women that i could that i could draw from actually there you go i

[00:46:00] should have said d and sydney because that answer is your last question too right but there's so

[00:46:04] there's so many good ones to choose from um but no i think i'm gonna i'm gonna control it

[00:46:09] and just vibe with everybody else that's out here um everyone seems really cool which you know

[00:46:16] i think they'll be even cooler when they vote for me to win a million dollars and we'll all be friends

[00:46:20] what do you think is one life experience that has prepared you most for this game

[00:46:25] okay i would go back to like so so picture a giant table and like a big ukrainian family

[00:46:32] sitting around it and like not just a media family relatives cousins grandparents and

[00:46:36] when we were young growing up like that was every holiday or just like you know a monday any excuse to

[00:46:43] get together with the whole family and so from an early age i was talking to my cousins my parents

[00:46:48] my grandparents my wacky aunt my crazy uncle and like you just learn to speak to people of all

[00:46:55] ages with all different interests and like growing up that way helped me develop a natural interest

[00:47:00] in everybody no matter how different or similar they are to myself and i think that'll that'll

[00:47:05] help me i hope what well what do you think is your biggest superpower and your biggest piece of

[00:47:12] kryptonite that you are bringing from your life into this game okay my biggest superpower would be

[00:47:20] if i send somebody else is struggling or more nervous than i am i can put aside the way i'm

[00:47:27] feeling and engage with them help them give them the care that they need which in turn helps

[00:47:33] me right if you were more nervous than i am i would be like it's okay relax and then i would be zen here

[00:47:38] but that's not the situation um so i think being able to sort of assess what people might need and

[00:47:45] fill that need will really help me um and that's my biggest superpower my biggest kryptonite would be

[00:47:53] like all the yucky things out here i'm really i'm the type of person like if i see a spider in

[00:48:00] my house i'm like ah mark my husband like can you come get this if he's not home i'm fully capable

[00:48:06] of grab grab a piece of paper towel or a shoe and kill it but like if there's someone else around me

[00:48:09] who can help um i will often take them up on that which you know so yeah the yucky things are gonna

[00:48:16] make me a little uncomfortable but i have it in me to deal with them i would just prefer not to

[00:48:22] well to that point i mean you talked before about how you know you were watching it

[00:48:26] back in the day and you were saying oh yeah i'd love to do this even though this is something

[00:48:29] that is very much out of my wheelhouse once you found out you were coming out here what was your

[00:48:34] preparation like to get in survivor shape as it were so lots i would say i haven't had like any

[00:48:41] caffeine for like 45 days um sounds like you don't need it i know right could you imagine me after

[00:48:48] an espresso martini like it's fun but it's a lot um so i did that i was working out like sort of

[00:48:55] i was not grip strength training for two years unfortunately um that one slipped by me but i was

[00:49:02] working out trying to like eat healthier things cut out like you know all the kit kats that i would

[00:49:08] have if i am pmsing or like had a bad day i tried to like be like well you won't have that out there

[00:49:12] jenni b but unfortunately one of my friends told me about this amazing video game like three weeks

[00:49:18] before coming out here that i like started and then it like really derailed some of my survivor

[00:49:22] prep um so i meant to like practice making fire with flint a little more and research how to build

[00:49:28] a bamboo shelter um but instead i played balder's gate for like 40 hours i was about to say if it

[00:49:34] was balder's gate i mean listen you can craft in balder's gate it just isn't as applicable yes

[00:49:38] exactly i'll feel like i'll have way less items out here um but i will be looting everyone that i

[00:49:42] can well let's talk about perhaps uh some of the people that will make up your party or

[00:49:47] the aforementioned people that you will loot because you said that everyone's super nice out

[00:49:51] here but i'm sure you're picking up vibes from specific people who are some individuals that

[00:49:56] you are thinking best case scenario like i want to end up on a beach with you you could be a possible

[00:50:00] ride or die okay there is an older woman with like beautiful long blonde hair and she's clearly

[00:50:07] very fit and her and i both like drank our welcome drink excessively quickly and like made

[00:50:14] eyes at each other and i was like yes you so i would really love to work with her um who else

[00:50:22] there's a man with sort of short curly hair that every time he like does a lap around the pool

[00:50:27] he gives me eyes and a smile and i give him a smile and he's also up in the middle of the night

[00:50:31] like he's a bad sleeper just like me so those are two people that like stick out on my radar

[00:50:36] as people that i will get along really well with was there also part two did you want

[00:50:41] me to say who i don't want oh you you read me loud and clear absolutely lea objection leading the witness

[00:50:49] oh you're good you're hired you want to train jobs i'll be the trademark insert the blank here

[00:50:54] but yeah give me some people that that you're uh you're susing out a little bit uh okay there's

[00:50:58] one man with long curly hair who like avoids make an eye contact with me like the plague

[00:51:05] and uh i'm like i'm if you can imagine i can't sit still for like eight hours as they have a

[00:51:11] sequestered so i also do laps around the pool like a hamster on a wheel and every time i'm like

[00:51:16] trying to try to catch him he's like like this like like he'll turn to stone if he looks at my eyes

[00:51:22] so he's on my radar but i don't know maybe he'll be the nicest person ever and i'll have a terrible

[00:51:27] read when you talk to him like see does he look at you maybe it's just me yeah i don't know if

[00:51:31] i'm at the pool so it might not be a one-for-one comparison uh well let's let's talk about the

[00:51:35] pool of advantages you hope to come across in the game how do you approach all the idols and journeys

[00:51:42] and things that come with the new era okay i would love to find a beware advantage tvd if i will open

[00:51:51] it um and go either way on that i myself am a gambling woman so i'm in my nature i would

[00:51:58] love to open it but if there's someone out there who stands out to me as like i definitely don't

[00:52:02] want to work with this person but i obviously will not show them that i might lead them to the

[00:52:08] beware advantage with like let them open it be like hey i want to work with you so much

[00:52:13] not really but i want to work with you so much found this beware advantage i'm so risk adverse do

[00:52:19] you want to open it we can work together and then when they open it i'll see what they have

[00:52:23] to do and then like make it impossible for them to do it so they don't have their vote and then

[00:52:28] get rid of them that way oh interesting sabotage the beware advantage task

[00:52:32] yeah right interesting talk to me about your most controversial survivor opinion what is your

[00:52:39] hottest take about the show or a person or a player um i don't know if this is a hot take

[00:52:45] i hate fire making in the final four like it's probably a regurgitated take i'm sure everybody

[00:52:51] hates fire making in the final four i feel like it just forces the players to get out better

[00:52:57] players early and then it like disadvantages great players like a jesse because it all comes

[00:53:03] down to making a fire when like that doesn't really measure the best gameplay which is what

[00:53:09] i would look for as a drawer the best best gameplay as i interpret it um so yeah i hate

[00:53:14] final four fire making also i would suck at it so like i'm just saying are you just saying

[00:53:18] that because you played boulder's gate three instead of practicing fire making i'm manifesting

[00:53:23] maybe like jeff here's this that he'd like decides oh this year 47 we're not going to do final four

[00:53:28] making fire four but oh my god final four fire making you can't even say you even just the

[00:53:33] utterance of it like we're just seeing it yeah exactly it feels like the past two seasons in

[00:53:40] particular have really like almost served as a jump start from the new era even that came before

[00:53:44] it what is your biggest takeaway from survivor 45 and 46 that you plan to incorporate into

[00:53:50] your game great question okay um i will be looking for those hidden duos or groups i think that was

[00:54:00] like a big part of what made d julie austin drew successful charlie and maria people seem to not

[00:54:07] have sniffed out or at least as far as the last episode that i saw so um i'll be keeping my eyes

[00:54:13] open for people that seem to move in lockstep without being too socially involved because

[00:54:19] that would be a clue to me that there is something that maybe i'm not picking up or that they're doing

[00:54:22] a great job of hiding um the other takeaway would be the inverse is like i need to find myself

[00:54:30] maria to my charlie right oh yeah it's sort of the lawyer aspect especially yes right i'm not as

[00:54:37] like charming and quick-witted as him or as funny but we're both brunettes so don't sell

[00:54:43] yourself sure do you have more in common than just your hair color last thing i want to ask you

[00:54:49] if you could bring a celebrity or a fictional character out as a loved one for a loved one's

[00:54:55] visit who are you picking and why dumbledore because i feel like he would know exactly what to say in my

[00:55:03] like seemingly impossible task of winning survivor aka in my version of like finding a horcrux

[00:55:11] i feel like he'd like say something that would like inspire me and like unlock that and be

[00:55:16] like oh great point yes okay yeah now and i'm on and the loved one visit takes place late enough

[00:55:21] it's like that thing that existed at the end of every harry potter book where like dumbledore would

[00:55:25] say okay here's what actually happened the entire time and just lays it out for everybody

[00:55:30] exactly or maybe that'll be my experience watching this show and i'll be like oh that's

[00:55:34] what was really happening god i missed all that yeah well thank you for bringing the magic to

[00:55:40] this interview it was an absolute delight to get to do it you know i i love the energy that you

[00:55:45] give out and i imagine that's only going to translate so well to the beach too so i'm really

[00:55:50] excited to see what you're going to bring and i hope you have the absolute adventure of a lifetime

[00:55:54] it was so great game to chat with you thank you thank you so much you as well of course

[00:55:58] so great meeting you all the best good luck in the days leading up and uh i'll see you on the

[00:56:03] other side sounds good all right there you have it jenni we wish much luck to jenni there we go we

[00:56:12] say mush as she begins her voyage into the game as it was jeff say that at the start of like the

[00:56:18] obstacle of course like uh mush mush i think then the discourse about like a survivor treating

[00:56:25] their contestants like animals would really hit its peak spicy jeff okay i'm thinking more like

[00:56:29] ice cold jeff than ever going to like dogs letting ooh that could be even uh better all right but let's

[00:56:34] talk a little bit about uh jenniviv and so uh i think that jenniviv is an interesting player to me

[00:56:41] like i i feel like uh that she somebody who just seems like solid but doesn't necessarily pop off

[00:56:50] the screen to me but i think that that might be where you want to be jenniviv i mean she

[00:56:57] described it perfectly with the way she was talking about the two different personas she

[00:57:02] kind of occupies like before and after a meal before and after getting a good night's sleep the

[00:57:06] fact that she wrote in her bio like two players she compares herself to rd and sydney we'll see

[00:57:11] where the game goes and that jenniviv was very much perhaps a la uh you know a fictional

[00:57:17] lawyer themselves uh two-faced in a manner of speaking yeah there are two wolves that exist

[00:57:23] inside of her one that could do really really well at the game but one that that might not

[00:57:29] depending on the fact that she is you know uh not to say that that emotionality is necessarily a

[00:57:34] detract from the game we have certainly explored that with someone like caroline but certainly

[00:57:38] she has pointed out some things that might not make her you know a huge candidate off the top

[00:57:43] for winning but the thing about the new era rob is again if those people are able to make

[00:57:48] it through the first half of the game when they might most be in trouble the second half

[00:57:52] the game open up opens up for them yeah i thought that was interesting that uh she is has the ability

[00:57:59] she has like this empathetic side of her that she can really uh detect uh like any sort of lack

[00:58:05] that a person has and sort of be a provider there but also then is willing to completely

[00:58:12] sandbag somebody she doesn't like if they get the beware advantage yeah did you like that idea

[00:58:18] rob of okay i'm gonna lead someone i don't like to find a beware advantage and then whatever the task

[00:58:24] is i'm going to sabotage it so they never get their vote back yeah it seems like a little too

[00:58:30] cute i would not recommend that i think this is a bad plan do not do that so like i'm trying

[00:58:36] to think back to survivor 46 would it be like you help lead gem to the beware advantage

[00:58:43] and then you russle hand style hide the machete so she can never use it to measure anything

[00:58:47] something like that yeah i think that probably like survivor 45 where they had like sort of like a

[00:58:52] little bit more like complicated where austin had to like uh read the hieroglyphics and maybe she would

[00:58:57] like deface the hieroglyphics or like if it's sabaya and you don't have any fire like you put

[00:59:03] out the fire at tribal council you take a big bucket of water and dump it on so you can't

[00:59:07] burn the candle at all yeah so all right but i like the creativity oh i like that you're

[00:59:12] thinking about these things i just wouldn't do them yeah but i think that speaks to again the

[00:59:17] audaciousness that she takes it i think jennifeeve has a really great energy you know she speaks about

[00:59:22] regardless of the deprivation she's in that bubbliness and i do think that triumph around

[00:59:27] might help as well like it does seem like initially she'd be someone to to go along

[00:59:32] to get along right like she seems like a very fun person to be around i think the fear that i

[00:59:37] have for jennifeeve is is she into over her head you know she admits that when she was first watching

[00:59:44] the show like she hadn't really been camping before she's not great at lying she doesn't eat fish uh

[00:59:50] you know all these things on paper maybe add up to not doing so well in survivor but considering

[00:59:56] that this is something that she has been preparing for for a long time applying since

[00:59:59] canadians could first be on the show i'm assuming she's put in some work with the

[01:00:02] exception of learning how to make fire i do think she's going to be solid i'm just like

[01:00:07] in terms of like looking at uh you know who's the winner of the season i think that jennifeeve is

[01:00:13] probably not my winner pick for the season but it's also you know somebody who i think is going to

[01:00:18] not get herself voted out of the game i think that she's somebody who seems like very the

[01:00:23] issue is that as we're doing this we're going through i've only seen the interviews for these

[01:00:29] two people so i don't know necessarily if this is like a cast of total wackos and jennifeeve

[01:00:35] is kind of normal or if the cast is a little bit more muted and you know jennifeeve is a standout

[01:00:44] so from that perspective rob just a couple things about her what do you make about her

[01:00:51] watching 45 and 46 and wanting to come in looking for hitting groups hitting duos right

[01:00:57] your re before or your charlie or maria do you feel that's a little bit for us for the trees

[01:01:01] or do you think that's a good approach people should take well it's something that we certainly see

[01:01:04] backfire a lot on big brother of you know that's the group that these two like they're very close

[01:01:10] i think that you know you should be looking to i think to try to like make your own pairs and

[01:01:17] and trios and groups more so than you want to be on the hunt for who you know instead of

[01:01:24] like uh feeling like okay here's two people let me see if i can get in over there with them

[01:01:28] as opposed to sort of like clocking that they're two people i know there's been a lot of discourse

[01:01:33] as of late as to whether or not you should lie about your job on these types of shows do you

[01:01:37] want to come in with an additional lie you have to weave into all the other lies do you think

[01:01:41] jennifeeve is of course coming in and saying that she trying to create like apparently the most

[01:01:46] boring job ever by saying she works in trademarks do you think that this is sort of a special

[01:01:51] case that because we had so much uh lawyers proliferating the end game of 45 which is the most

[01:01:57] recent full season they watched was this a wise decision on her part um i think that it's a okay

[01:02:03] decision uh i guess we'll see we'll see how it goes in practice i just think the thing like a common

[01:02:08] theme was like oh like i was gonna come up with a fake job but i i'm still not there yet i'm

[01:02:17] still working on it like i was gonna practice making the fire but balder's gate came out like

[01:02:23] it's just like like uh jennifeeve like uh you know when you go to court you got to have all your

[01:02:29] stuff ready to go survivors no different i really hope she makes the final four just so we get like

[01:02:34] an actual balder's gate name drop on the show of like damn it my worst nightmare has come true

[01:02:39] dorsay right now yeah i mean dumbledore but i would have a lot to say in the moment but

[01:02:44] that was so funny to me i like jennifeeve i think jennifeeve is a very fun personality she's

[01:02:49] both simultaneously dry and bubbly at the same time like a nice champagne like a ginger ale

[01:02:53] yes exactly like canada dry if you will right so uh that could be a good nickname for her um but

[01:03:00] that being said yeah i do like jennifeeve i hope i hope it's not something like i'm being uh too

[01:03:04] hard i'm just trying to give like my you know honest assessment of what i'm seeing from the

[01:03:10] players and look this is the fun part for us as well like if we're wrong we'll revelate

[01:03:17] yeah we'll rebel it as much as the players don't tell me all you want okay exactly i do want to also

[01:03:23] foreshadow something as well because of course as i get to do every season i ask these people

[01:03:27] okay as you're hanging around ponderosa who are you picking up good vibes

[01:03:31] and not so good vibes from and jennifeeve actually highlighted a couple people on both ends

[01:03:37] that will be recurring motifs of this question throughout the season rob this is a cast that

[01:03:43] is very high on sue smay sue is a continual talking point in the positive older woman with white hair

[01:03:50] that is sue and then on the other side of things the man with curly long hair gabe uh gabe has talked

[01:03:58] about a lot gabe is regarded as someone who is not really given anybody anything as jennifeeve

[01:04:05] talks about he knows me for you yeah it seems to be regarded as somebody who is like almost actively

[01:04:09] whether intentionally or not kind of like stonewalling people with just very blank faced reactions and so

[01:04:16] pick up on that because again these will be people that will get mentioned a few times and

[01:04:20] we'll see if that plays into it i mean kaleb i think from 45 right is sort of the the consummate

[01:04:25] example of someone where maybe these preseasoned expectations do end up kind of rolling into

[01:04:32] the game okay uh we will keep an eye on that i love it when the fans like make a matrix of

[01:04:38] like who's liking who uh so far and i know in survivor 46 like it also you mentioned kaleb

[01:04:44] but like a lot of the preseason okay this person like this person like the 46 stuff really did

[01:04:50] track yeah there was a lot of like tevin soda and liz stuff and then obviously that ends up

[01:04:56] fracturing apart at the mid-merch i mean here's the thing especially when you're

[01:04:59] when you're separated into three tribes and we don't know if there's a swap but like

[01:05:02] it's very much based on those first impressions to start to start like that's really where

[01:05:06] it's instructive it's not like oh good that's going to be a final two because they're no but if

[01:05:10] they're like on the same tribe or they go on a journey together like that's where it's like okay

[01:05:15] there's like a little bit of a head start yeah i mean we saw that with hunter and q right that

[01:05:19] they both clocked each other as being from mississippi and so when they got to that journey

[01:05:23] and formed the sixth one of the most dominant alliances in survivor history it was

[01:05:28] give us this minute yeah okay all right mic anything else you want to say about

[01:05:32] jennivieve today no i think it's a great start to this tribe and i'm excited especially as you get

[01:05:38] to know lavo more and certainly by the end of it we can kind of piece together what we anticipate

[01:05:43] the dynamic to be i think even looking at these two i do see asia and jennivieve getting along i

[01:05:49] think that again these are two good personalities i think they're both energetic enough easy going

[01:05:53] yeah yeah they can certainly feed into each other but we'll sort of mix in these other

[01:05:59] four ingredients into the lavo cake if you will and see what spills out okay all right uh mic

[01:06:05] what's coming up tomorrow so tomorrow we had talked about two women on lavo and now it's all

[01:06:11] about playing with the boys as we are going to talk to kashon and roam on lavo okay all right
