[00:01:10] I'm so excited to be back with my co-host, Mr. Timmy Bridgeman,

[00:01:15] who also is a contestant on Survivor Philadelphia Season 3 and a contributor

[00:01:21] for BWP.

[00:01:22] This episode of Survivor Philadelphia was a juicy one.

[00:01:25] I really felt like I was watching Survivor.

[00:01:28] I mean, we're only one week away from Survivor Season 40 several.

[00:01:33] But baby, the immunity challenge this week, the African-American history

[00:01:38] we learned from the medical incident from the tribal councils, multiple of them.

[00:01:42] So much to get into this week.

[00:01:44] So I'm so excited that we're here to break it down.

[00:01:46] So let's get into this week's Survivor Philadelphia.

[00:02:18] Survivor Philadelphia Season 2.

[00:02:32] What's going on and welcome back to this week's Purple Pants Podcast.

[00:02:36] Coverage of Survivor Philadelphia Season 3 Episode 8.

[00:02:42] It is a very sad episode here on the podcast,

[00:02:46] I'm so excited to be joined by my co-host and I don't care what nobody say.

[00:02:50] The immunity champion of Survivor Philadelphia 3, Mr. Timmy Bridgeman.

[00:02:55] How are you?

[00:02:56] Bryce, I'm doing great, even though this episode was a little like spoil milk

[00:03:01] in the refrigerator today as a day for me feels like a grocery list that's all

[00:03:06] been checked off. I got everything I needed out of the store.

[00:03:08] Everything I wanted to do today, I did.

[00:03:10] So it feels great.

[00:03:12] How are you?

[00:03:12] Yeah, I am good.

[00:03:14] I'm a little sad, but I'm also always excited to talk to you.

[00:03:18] And you know, shout out to Chevelda.

[00:03:20] OK, she's a Purple Pants Posse member.

[00:03:23] So I want to shout out to my girl Chevelda.

[00:03:26] Am I saying it right?

[00:03:28] Shevonda.

[00:03:29] Shevon. OK, now she will cut me out now.

[00:03:32] Shevonda, my girl, Shevonda, which is Timmy's mom.

[00:03:35] Timmy texts me and said, you know, my mom listens to the podcast.

[00:03:38] So shout out to my girl.

[00:03:40] Yes, it was a busy weekend for me.

[00:03:42] Timmy, I woke up on Saturday and Paige from this season

[00:03:47] cuts me out on Instagram DMs.

[00:03:50] Pais said, listen, baby boy, I don't appreciate you coming for me.

[00:03:55] She really cuts me out.

[00:03:57] Paige was like, why are you coming for me so hard?

[00:03:59] And I was like, Paige, honestly, I think that you're playing a great game.

[00:04:03] But the way Emma went out and the way Emma threw Paige under the bus,

[00:04:08] I believed Emma.

[00:04:10] But shout out to Paige, you know, she listens as well.

[00:04:13] And she just had a baby not that long ago.

[00:04:16] Congress again, Paige.

[00:04:18] Yes. And I love anybody that's going to cut me off.

[00:04:20] She said, had that same energy for Ryan and Sasha.

[00:04:23] I said, I got your page.

[00:04:25] I got you.

[00:04:26] But yeah, this was a really interesting episode.

[00:04:29] I really felt like it happened so fast.

[00:04:32] And I also felt like it seemed like it was like I felt

[00:04:37] or maybe 2.3 seconds I was watching an actual episode of Survivor

[00:04:42] the way the editing was, it was like cutting.

[00:04:44] They didn't really get up.

[00:04:45] Allow us to see a lot of things.

[00:04:47] We go right into an immunity challenge.

[00:04:49] So it was a lot going on.

[00:04:52] Yeah, we go straight into the immunity challenge.

[00:04:55] And just like in Survivor, it's a twist.

[00:04:58] This twist is it's too immunity, not too immunity winners,

[00:05:02] but two winners of the challenge because if you win this challenge,

[00:05:05] you aren't safe.

[00:05:06] So the two people that win, they get extra votes and they get to pick

[00:05:11] in some way who is going to be on what tribe for a split tribal council

[00:05:17] or two people are going home.

[00:05:19] So if this whole season is about time,

[00:05:22] this round feels like the fast forward where everything is going faster

[00:05:26] than you can even blink.

[00:05:29] Yeah. And I couldn't help but notice your energy this episode seems a little

[00:05:32] different. You know, last episode, it was now or never.

[00:05:35] Make a move. Do this, do that.

[00:05:37] Timmy, you seemed very quiet.

[00:05:40] You seem very, you know, interesting.

[00:05:43] You seemed, you know, reserved.

[00:05:45] Now Alex G lets us know that we're going to pick captains, right?

[00:05:54] Or how did the two people get picked?

[00:05:57] Yeah. So in the challenge itself,

[00:06:00] we get told a story and it's similar to older Survivor season where you have

[00:06:04] a story being told, you have to go run out to these different stations,

[00:06:10] correct, collect the correct bag to bring it back to your station.

[00:06:13] And once you have all the right answers,

[00:06:15] then you're one of the people who becomes a winner of that challenge.

[00:06:20] So the two fastest people to get the most right answers or all the right

[00:06:25] answers wins this challenge and becomes a captain to then pick someone

[00:06:31] to go on the other captain's team for Tribal Council.

[00:06:35] And of course, but before we get to that,

[00:06:38] I again have to just shout out the creator of Survivor Philadelphia, Alex G,

[00:06:43] because the story that he told was of Henry Box Brown, an abolitionist,

[00:06:50] abolitionary who was born into slavery, who shipped himself in a box

[00:06:57] in a box, almost died from Virginia to Philadelphia to be a free man.

[00:07:05] I think that we always talk about allies and I just, you know,

[00:07:09] I can't thank Alex G enough for reminding us that Philadelphia has very rich

[00:07:18] African American history and learning about Henry Box Brown and incorporating

[00:07:23] that into Survivor Philadelphia.

[00:07:25] It'd be very easy for Alex G as a white man to have picked Benjamin Franklin,

[00:07:31] Betsy Ross, but you know, watching that and hearing the story, you know,

[00:07:36] I started Googling, I started like, you know, and I'm from Philadelphia

[00:07:40] and I've never really heard that story before.

[00:07:43] So I went on this whole like, I don't want to say rant,

[00:07:47] but I went on this whole rabbit hole of learning more and more and more

[00:07:50] about Henry Box Brown.

[00:07:52] So I just wanted to take the time to thanks Alex G for shedding some black

[00:07:57] history on us in the month of September because I love that.

[00:08:02] And again, I love the fact that

[00:08:05] you don't really hear about black history, right?

[00:08:07] Well, first of all, black history is American history.

[00:08:09] OK, that part.

[00:08:11] And wrecked resume.

[00:08:12] Oh, OK.

[00:08:14] Cowboy Carter.

[00:08:15] So we'll get there when we get there.

[00:08:16] But I just appreciate you, Alex G, for that.

[00:08:19] What was that like you out there to hearing this story?

[00:08:22] I could tell from watching it.

[00:08:24] You seem very into the story, Mr.

[00:08:28] PhD writing major.

[00:08:31] Yeah, you know, like I study African American literature.

[00:08:34] I study African American history.

[00:08:36] That's what I do on a daily basis, even earlier today when I was teaching.

[00:08:40] I was talking about different times and different history.

[00:08:42] And, you know, I'm in Maryland, so I was talking about Maryland.

[00:08:45] But to be out there on that part and hearing this story for the first time,

[00:08:50] a story that I myself didn't even know as somebody who does this in part

[00:08:55] for a living as a professor, I felt so intrigued by the story,

[00:09:01] so connected to that moment in that part and to feel more as a whole

[00:09:06] as somebody who wasn't even from there.

[00:09:08] I felt that it was just great to be able to learn in this moment.

[00:09:12] And for us to not only have each other leaving this game, but to have that

[00:09:17] knowledge, have that listen, have the history to take with us everywhere we go now.

[00:09:23] Absolutely.

[00:09:24] And again, I just can't praise Alex G enough because you think of survivor

[00:09:28] Philadelphia and it's called now or never.

[00:09:31] And I don't think for I don't think it's an accident that Alex G chose

[00:09:36] that story because it literally was now or never for Henry Box Brown.

[00:09:41] And so, yeah, that was that story was interesting.

[00:09:45] And, you know, Alex told us the story.

[00:09:49] And after that he had to name facts.

[00:09:52] And at each station there are different

[00:09:54] information you could pick from three and you would have to run back

[00:09:59] and forth to get there.

[00:10:01] Now, there was a medical incident.

[00:10:04] It was this time.

[00:10:08] So we're running Bryce.

[00:10:09] I'm running. I'm in the lead at this point.

[00:10:12] I'm excited. I feel like, you know, you did the Baywatch run.

[00:10:16] I feel like I'm doing the Sharknado run like it's a shark behind me.

[00:10:20] And the shark is the other players in this game.

[00:10:25] It's meant for specifically he's like, all right.

[00:10:27] He's like, all right, you know, I just call him out.

[00:10:30] My life is on the line.

[00:10:31] I'm feeling like I have to win again.

[00:10:34] So I'm running Bryce and

[00:10:36] learning to hold is to hold in the ground.

[00:10:42] I realize it's holding the ground after my ankle goes into it in turns.

[00:10:48] You know, like they how how they saw it goes, you know, to the left, to the left,

[00:10:52] my right ankle, that's the direction it went, which is not the direction

[00:10:54] your ankle supposed to go.

[00:10:56] So Roman ankle slash sprung it pretty bad.

[00:11:01] And ultimately, I don't win that challenge.

[00:11:04] The winners of the challenge are Ryan and then Manfred.

[00:11:08] And then we get that medical situation.

[00:11:11] Dr. Amanda, shout out any any cameo with Dr.

[00:11:14] Amanda, I am very happy.

[00:11:16] What was funny not about your medical

[00:11:19] situation, but what I thought was so funny.

[00:11:23] I don't know if Alex G thinks that

[00:11:27] H2O water is a magic cure because Alex was out there like, where's the water?

[00:11:33] Get a water, get a water.

[00:11:35] You need some more water.

[00:11:36] First of all, he got a seven gallon jug.

[00:11:38] Like, where did you get that jug from?

[00:11:40] He's like, Timmy, do you need some more water?

[00:11:42] Timmy's like, I'm good.

[00:11:45] I was just cracking up like Alex.

[00:11:49] Water is not the I mean water is good for our body.

[00:11:51] But Alex was acting like the water was going to heal us all.

[00:11:55] I was, you know, baptized me in that water, Alex.

[00:12:00] But shout out to them, especially shout out to Dr.

[00:12:02] Amanda, too. They were quick to offer like Tylenol if I needed it because

[00:12:06] the adrenaline was still running.

[00:12:08] I didn't feel nothing is like, you know,

[00:12:11] skydivers when they straight jump off the plane is just straight

[00:12:15] nothing is just you keep going your autopilot.

[00:12:18] But when you get to the ground and when that adrenaline started going down.

[00:12:24] I felt the pain.

[00:12:26] I realized what was happening real quick.

[00:12:28] Yeah. When we saw that instant replay of you,

[00:12:31] you know, going one way, your ankle going another way.

[00:12:34] I was like, ooh, that had to hurt.

[00:12:36] But nevertheless, you are a trooper.

[00:12:38] You know, a couple of seconds later, we see you standing back up and we.

[00:12:43] Alex announces that Ryan won and Manfred won.

[00:12:47] Ryan and Manfred both get an extra vote.

[00:12:50] Ryan wins for his team that will be selected.

[00:12:53] They go to Tribal Council second.

[00:12:56] Now, mind you,

[00:12:58] this is what then pissed me off.

[00:12:59] Now, y'all know I love sunshine.

[00:13:01] Sunshine don't but say three words,

[00:13:03] even though he got his hand every which way where when how we were doing a school

[00:13:08] yard pick and so last time Ryan picked someone for his team,

[00:13:13] then that person would then pick someone for the next team.

[00:13:16] This time it was Ryan was picking someone for Manfred's team and man.

[00:13:21] The person from Manfred's team will be picking someone for Ryan's team.

[00:13:24] So you wouldn't really have any direct

[00:13:27] choice of who was going on your team.

[00:13:30] And I believe Ryan's first pick was Paige.

[00:13:33] Paige then picked Sunshine and Sunshine said,

[00:13:37] I should change my name to Moonlight because I'm a shady.

[00:13:44] And I'm watching this and I'm like, well,

[00:13:46] I feel like Timmy is on the end with all of these people.

[00:13:49] But when Sunshine picked Timmy to be on Manfred's team,

[00:13:54] I said, Sunshine strikes again.

[00:13:59] Listen, at that point, Sunshine was a sheriff and I found myself in a sundown town

[00:14:05] because the sunshine pulled the trigger.

[00:14:09] He said, Timmy, no, let me let me try it again.

[00:14:11] He said, Timmy, you go over there

[00:14:15] and you get no beef jerky.

[00:14:18] I had to wipe the paint off my back too.

[00:14:24] But yes, I at that point I felt like, wow, dang, I didn't expect it out of Sunshine.

[00:14:30] And

[00:14:32] you know, as people are starting to get picked in different places,

[00:14:34] it comes down and we see the final teams that are or final tribes, quote,

[00:14:40] unquote, that are going to be going to tribal council.

[00:14:41] And then it's Manfred, Paige, myself and lastly is Robinette.

[00:14:47] And then on the other tribe, we have Ryan, Sunshine, Gabe and Jasmine.

[00:14:56] The teams.

[00:14:58] Yeah, very different team.

[00:15:00] And so your team goes straight to tribal council.

[00:15:03] We get to see a little bit from Ryan's team and we just had Ryan on last week.

[00:15:07] And now Ryan pissed me off this episode.

[00:15:10] Mr. Blurry lines, blurry lines doesn't sound like blurry lines.

[00:15:14] I was like, I don't know what version of Robin thick and wait, isn't blurry

[00:15:19] lines Robin thick?

[00:15:22] Blur lines.

[00:15:23] Blur lines.

[00:15:23] I don't know what rendition Ryan was thinking.

[00:15:26] He was he had a little jazz pop to it.

[00:15:30] But I thought Ryan had a South Jersey alliance with Jasmine, right?

[00:15:36] And it's very clear that Jasmine is on the out.

[00:15:39] It was so interesting seeing Gabe talk to Jasmine.

[00:15:41] Now, my game pissed me off this episode too.

[00:15:43] But you know, I love Gabe and Gabe has been all his life.

[00:15:46] He has had to fight.

[00:15:47] But every day every second, every day,

[00:15:50] ha, you told ha, to be Gabe.

[00:15:55] OK, because that's how Gabe been feeling.

[00:15:57] But it was interesting watching Gabe talk to Jasmine, right?

[00:15:59] It was a different game.

[00:16:01] Normally when we see Gabe and he's talking, he's always like, you know,

[00:16:04] I'm at the bottom.

[00:16:05] I don't know what to do.

[00:16:06] I'm just a vote with Jasmine.

[00:16:09] And it was kind of pissing me off because he was like, you know, well,

[00:16:11] you tell me what you want to do.

[00:16:13] And like, I'll vote for you.

[00:16:14] I'm like, girl, look at Gabe.

[00:16:16] He is lying.

[00:16:16] Yeah.

[00:16:18] But I'm not mad because Gabe has been through a lot and it's like, I want Gabe

[00:16:23] to do well, however, not against my girl Jasmine.

[00:16:26] Why you got to do my girl Jasmine wrong?

[00:16:28] And Jasmine out here like,

[00:16:30] you'll see what I could do with challenges.

[00:16:33] As a viewer watching that, it felt like

[00:16:37] I'm not a parent, right?

[00:16:39] But it felt like if you had twin

[00:16:40] childs and they say you can only keep one and the other going to go

[00:16:45] somewhere else.

[00:16:45] Wait, come on. Wait a minute.

[00:16:47] Tell me, wait a minute.

[00:16:48] You were PhD students, you said I'm a PhD student for writing for English.

[00:16:55] Yep. For England.

[00:16:56] OK, two childs, two children.

[00:17:00] That was the country that jumped out of me.

[00:17:02] OK, that was the country.

[00:17:03] OK, so two childs get them in the house.

[00:17:09] Right. Put some put some clothes on them, childs.

[00:17:12] You might hear it.

[00:17:14] I'm a single mother of two childs.

[00:17:16] OK, but listen, it's like you got them two children.

[00:17:21] That's me, childs, two childs.

[00:17:24] It is to you know,

[00:17:27] Jane has two childs.

[00:17:29] All right, I've done that.

[00:17:30] It's true.

[00:17:31] You know how we always add the S on stuff?

[00:17:34] We always add the S on stuff as a culture.

[00:17:36] But it's two of them.

[00:17:38] You got Jasmine.

[00:17:39] You got Gabe, them your children.

[00:17:42] Two childs and you can only keep one of them.

[00:17:46] That's what it felt like as a viewer to me because I love both of them.

[00:17:49] As a viewer, I'm watching it.

[00:17:51] I want to keep both of them.

[00:17:52] That doesn't necessarily mean I won't

[00:17:54] sunshine and run and go home, but I mean I want them to stay.

[00:17:58] Sunshine, that's sunshine.

[00:17:59] Sorry, Jasmine and Gabe in that situation because they're underdogs.

[00:18:03] They don't have the numbers.

[00:18:05] Yeah, I think for me, it's a little different.

[00:18:07] One I'm biased, like I know Jasmine.

[00:18:09] That's like my cousin in my head.

[00:18:10] So it's like I'm rooting for Jasmine.

[00:18:12] We gave watching everything that he's been through.

[00:18:16] It's like, you know, that's one of my childs.

[00:18:18] So I have to like I want to root for him.

[00:18:22] But it was pissing me off when

[00:18:25] Jasmine was getting with Ryan and I felt like, you know,

[00:18:30] to me immediately, I was like, OK, he lying like he's just like, yeah,

[00:18:34] like I want to do a Boston rub thing.

[00:18:36] I don't want to have to use this.

[00:18:37] Like, you know, yeah, I could want to give it to you.

[00:18:40] And I'm like, girl, he is just lying to your face.

[00:18:43] And but I felt like in that moment, I wish Jasmine again, it reminded me of

[00:18:49] like my season of Survivor on Kagean when I knew that they were splitting

[00:18:54] the votes and I was out there.

[00:18:56] I didn't really advocate for myself, right?

[00:18:57] I was just like, it's going to be what's going to be.

[00:18:59] And I really kind of felt like Jasmine kind of knew the writing was on the wall.

[00:19:02] I wish she was just offering more concrete plans.

[00:19:06] Like at this point, girls, say every name in the book, like, you know,

[00:19:10] like, say a plan, say like specific things kind of like just going with whatever.

[00:19:16] But I also was cracking out when she was talking to Sunshine.

[00:19:19] And if you did, if you as a viewer believe that Ryan was with her

[00:19:24] when she was talking to Sunshine, I don't even think Sunshine said anything.

[00:19:29] Hey, yeah.

[00:19:33] I was like, oh, yeah.

[00:19:36] Jasmine, she she really did it for me.

[00:19:40] Jasmine was trying everything she could in that moment.

[00:19:44] She was smart to be like, a, you know, I was at that tribal council.

[00:19:48] I can tell you the truth.

[00:19:49] It was Timmy and I don't blame her because at that point it's

[00:19:54] it's me or her and we're on two different tribes.

[00:19:57] So of course she's going to put herself first, Lucius.

[00:19:59] She's going to put herself first, Timmy.

[00:20:01] In this moment, so I don't blame her at all.

[00:20:04] But it did feel like at one point it was the writing on the wall or writing

[00:20:09] on the parchment and Jasmine's name was the name that was already on there pre-written.

[00:20:15] But then we go right into tribal council with Manfred, you, Paige and Robinette

[00:20:20] and Natasha comes up again.

[00:20:25] Again, because Manfred said I'm going to get my lick back.

[00:20:28] And also shout out to Manfred because one of my interns that works

[00:20:33] for the Purple Pants Posse, when we were putting together last week's episode,

[00:20:36] she was like, I think I went to school with Manfred.

[00:20:39] She was like, I think we graduated together.

[00:20:41] And she said during graduation, Manfred did Manfred did a death drop

[00:20:46] after he got his diploma.

[00:20:48] I said, that sounds like Manfred.

[00:20:49] But again, such a small world.

[00:20:52] And again, at this point, like it's hard for me because, you know,

[00:20:56] I got two childs, I got Manfred and I got Timmy, you know,

[00:21:01] they got different daddies.

[00:21:04] But, you know, I'm connected to Timmy, so I'm rooting for Timmy.

[00:21:07] But at the same time, I am rooting for Manfred in the sense of like

[00:21:12] if I were Manfred and we just had this tribal council of last tribal

[00:21:16] council where Timmy was a big dog on the school yard and like, you know,

[00:21:21] Manfred did eat at this tribal council because again, he brings up this

[00:21:26] Natasha thing and Timmy, why are you still lying?

[00:21:30] You had Robinette that was there.

[00:21:32] And mind you, you know, Robinette is similar to Sunshine.

[00:21:35] Robinette don't say a lot.

[00:21:37] But Robinette said, oh no.

[00:21:40] The votes was three to three.

[00:21:42] Timmy trying to say was three to two.

[00:21:44] Maybe somebody didn't vote.

[00:21:45] Timmy, we watched the episode.

[00:21:48] So, this Bryce, I had that lie.

[00:21:51] I was going to stick to it.

[00:21:52] To me, that lie was like some glue that you left on the back of a sticker

[00:21:59] and you put it on the refrigerator and you try to peel it off

[00:22:01] and it don't come all the way off.

[00:22:02] That's how stuck I was to that lie in that game.

[00:22:05] I thought, did not deny, deny, deny in that situation.

[00:22:08] Because if I come, if I come clean now, it's like, well, you was lying

[00:22:12] the whole time.

[00:22:13] So I had to stick to it.

[00:22:15] That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

[00:22:17] Like, Sizzle Grom, I'ma say it.

[00:22:19] We need to get that girl from the gorilla glue when she's

[00:22:23] wearing that gorilla glue on her hair.

[00:22:26] And it wasn't moving because that was Timmy in the lie.

[00:22:29] But I was thinking maybe at that point in time, if you did come clean

[00:22:33] because it is like, I understand you stick to the lie, right?

[00:22:36] I'm mad at that because you ain't going to catch me in a lie.

[00:22:38] But it's like they know.

[00:22:41] And then you're giving these fake facts.

[00:22:44] OK, you telling them they eating the pets.

[00:22:49] You are telling them they are eating the dogs and you're they are eating the cats.

[00:22:55] And they like we Robinette is like, I ain't no cat.

[00:22:58] I ain't no dog.

[00:23:02] I was hoping it was a little confusion at one point.

[00:23:05] Robinette was like, I thought it was a hamster.

[00:23:07] You know, when she said it tied at one point, so I was hoping

[00:23:09] a little confusion was going to be around.

[00:23:12] And I was trying to pitch to Paige in that moment, but they smart.

[00:23:16] And they're good players and they put the facts together.

[00:23:19] They already knew it from a couple rounds ago.

[00:23:23] And, you know, they were like, that don't sound right.

[00:23:26] Timmy, I want to trust you, but I don't think I don't think you're telling the truth.

[00:23:30] So yeah.

[00:23:32] But Bryce, to me, I felt in that situation

[00:23:36] like I was a rotisserie chicken at Walmart on full display because I was cooked.

[00:23:42] I was cooked in that situation.

[00:23:43] And at that point, I was just rotating around in that line of not voting for Natasha.

[00:23:50] And ultimately somebody came and bought me

[00:23:53] and that was a ticket that I got straight to the jury.

[00:23:58] It was very sad to see you go.

[00:24:02] But I think you played a great game.

[00:24:04] And I think, you know, I loved when you left, you said, like, you know,

[00:24:06] to all us neuro divergent people, anything is possible.

[00:24:11] And I love that.

[00:24:12] And I thought that, you know, you were a fan favorite.

[00:24:14] You are a highlight of mine.

[00:24:16] And listen, you made the jury.

[00:24:18] Some of us in the real game of Survivor can't even make the jury.

[00:24:20] So you should be very proud of yourself.

[00:24:24] Thank you. Thank you, Bryce.

[00:24:25] I really appreciate it.

[00:24:26] And I am and I shared their message because I'm rooting for everybody.

[00:24:30] I root for neuro divergent people.

[00:24:32] I root for Black queer people or Black people, queer people.

[00:24:36] Everybody really.

[00:24:36] I want everybody to be successful.

[00:24:38] People I've connected to.

[00:24:39] People who don't think that they can do something.

[00:24:41] I want them to feel like they can.

[00:24:43] I want you to feel that type of empowerment

[00:24:45] because somebody had to help let me realize that for myself, too.

[00:24:50] And once you realize that for yourself,

[00:24:52] you'll be surprised about what you can do.

[00:24:54] Like Bryce today, you know, I was a little late.

[00:24:57] I had to go get a haircut.

[00:24:58] But in getting my haircut, I came out to my barber today.

[00:25:01] And it was a great interaction.

[00:25:03] It was real cool.

[00:25:04] And as you can see for the listeners who just listening to this,

[00:25:07] my haircut, I think is a little fresh,

[00:25:08] but that might just be me.

[00:25:10] But I think you would agree.

[00:25:11] So different moments like that, Bryce,

[00:25:13] of putting yourself out there, of being bold,

[00:25:16] of being yourself has just been so amazing and rewarding for me.

[00:25:21] And I want that same thing for other people, too,

[00:25:24] because it's in there

[00:25:25] and it's just a matter of when we see it.

[00:25:28] I love that.

[00:25:29] I also want to dig a little deeper

[00:25:32] with your permission

[00:25:34] because Black barbershops historically

[00:25:36] for the Black queer community

[00:25:38] aren't necessarily the most safest space.

[00:25:41] This is for Black queer men.

[00:25:44] Sometimes in the Black community,

[00:25:47] barbershops can be like filled with toxic masculinity

[00:25:50] and not necessarily a safe space.

[00:25:52] What led you to kind of like come out to your barber today?

[00:25:57] Yeah, so for some reason, we're talking about jobs and working

[00:26:02] and the story comes up somehow Chick-fil-A is involved.

[00:26:05] My barber used to work at Chick-fil-A.

[00:26:07] So I say, I worked at a Chick-fil-A too because I did.

[00:26:12] And the barber right next to us, he helps in the conversation.

[00:26:16] And for some reason, he's like, oh, yeah, Chick-fil-A,

[00:26:19] that's a Christian place.

[00:26:20] You know, like I'm sure they don't let certain people work there

[00:26:23] talking about queer people and my barber, he's like,

[00:26:28] no, I'm pretty sure they don't act like that.

[00:26:31] They won't just stop somebody at the door

[00:26:33] and be like, you can't work here because that will be a crime.

[00:26:36] And they would be OK.

[00:26:37] And I say, well, I'm like, well, I worked at Chick-fil-A,

[00:26:41] which was a true statement.

[00:26:43] And from there, the conversation just continued.

[00:26:45] And I talked about how working at that Chick-fil-A was.

[00:26:51] Felt like being in a box

[00:26:52] and you thinking that whole box was your life.

[00:26:55] And then they opened to live it because it was in a mall.

[00:26:59] And what they don't tell you, Bryce,

[00:27:00] before I get back to the point, what they don't tell you is

[00:27:03] yeah, you work in this out of mall.

[00:27:05] There's no drive through, but it's the kids that go on a field trip to the mall.

[00:27:10] They all get a lot of Chick-fil-A.

[00:27:12] But back to my point is from that situation.

[00:27:16] We just continue talking about life.

[00:27:18] And he was like, I would have never known.

[00:27:21] And I just continued to share my story about who I am.

[00:27:25] And it was a great interaction.

[00:27:27] And I'll be back in two weeks to get my haircut.

[00:27:31] I love that.

[00:27:31] I'm sure it must have been a scary thing to just, you know,

[00:27:35] being open and honest about yourself.

[00:27:37] So thank you for sharing.

[00:27:38] And I love that for you to me.

[00:27:40] And again, as I always do continue and always will encourage you

[00:27:44] to walk in your light and be authentically who you are.

[00:27:48] Because I think that you're an amazing person.

[00:27:51] And I think that although you are on the jury this week,

[00:27:54] your light still shines bright, bright.

[00:27:57] So thank you for sharing.

[00:27:58] Now we transition.

[00:28:01] What a transition to the next Tribal Council,

[00:28:05] which is a little cut or dry, per se,

[00:28:09] because we kind of like really know what's happening.

[00:28:14] Anything noteworthy at this Tribal Council

[00:28:16] with Sunshine, Ryan, Gabe and Jasmine.

[00:28:21] Again, Jasmine, I was rooting for her.

[00:28:23] Jasmine was my girl.

[00:28:25] We really, really bonded out there.

[00:28:27] We really did in the few moments where we were on the same tribe.

[00:28:32] And Jasmine in this situation to me is the boxer who

[00:28:37] in this round, they getting roughed up a little bit,

[00:28:40] but they still in the ring.

[00:28:41] They still boxing.

[00:28:42] Jasmine is still boxing.

[00:28:43] She's approaching this Tribal Council,

[00:28:45] knowing that her opponent is bigger to her,

[00:28:49] maybe in a whole different weight class, but she not giving up.

[00:28:52] She's still scrapping.

[00:28:54] But at the end of this round,

[00:28:56] one, two, three, when the ref is counting

[00:29:00] and when Alex G is counting these votes, we see that as Jasmine.

[00:29:06] So yeah, I was so sad to see her go.

[00:29:10] I think even on an even deeper level, I was like watching this episode

[00:29:13] and it made me think of like survivor sometimes

[00:29:16] and with the diversity initiative and survivor,

[00:29:19] you know, partly by myself and a collaborative effort

[00:29:24] with like, you know, my cast major, Tia Hart Taylor,

[00:29:27] Wendell Holland, Jamal Shipman, Sabrina Thompson, Mitchell, Julia Carter.

[00:29:33] You know, we challenged CBS and we got change.

[00:29:37] And what I love about this survivor,

[00:29:39] Philadelphia is it's kind of like reflective of the seasons

[00:29:42] where this season was very diverse, but very similarly in survivor

[00:29:47] and survivor, Philadelphia.

[00:29:48] I can't help but notice that the jury is now five people

[00:29:53] and it's 90 percent minority.

[00:29:57] And so I'm not saying anything about any of the people.

[00:30:00] I'm just saying like it's a trend and it happens in what one happens

[00:30:03] in real life and it happens on survivor.

[00:30:05] So it was just something that kind of popped into my mind

[00:30:08] when I was like, damn, Timmy, Jasmine, Jelissa, I'm here.

[00:30:12] And not to say that you all didn't deserve to be on the jury,

[00:30:15] but it is kind of like when you just look at it, it's just a crazy thing.

[00:30:19] And I just bring that up because I notice things like that as a black man.

[00:30:24] I I see in color, I see things.

[00:30:28] It's always just interesting because we do see that trend often

[00:30:31] in survivor even post-merge when there are more than one person of color.

[00:30:36] They normally get voted out, if not back to back.

[00:30:40] Very similarly.

[00:30:42] But yeah, we saw it in Marianne season.

[00:30:44] Even, you know, our Philly friend, James Jones, James Jones himself

[00:30:50] in the double tribal councils when they split.

[00:30:54] People of color, specifically black people tend to go home

[00:30:57] when the split like that happens and it's no different here in survivor.

[00:31:01] Philly, of course, not saying that.

[00:31:04] That was the reason.

[00:31:05] But it's right.

[00:31:06] Incidences that happen like that in some way.

[00:31:09] Yeah.

[00:31:10] So maybe in survivor Philadelphia, we can break the curse,

[00:31:12] but it was definitely a great episode, definitely riveting.

[00:31:16] I'm on the edge of my seat.

[00:31:18] I am excited now.

[00:31:20] There's only six people left.

[00:31:22] This is episode eight.

[00:31:23] I think there are. Is it 10 episodes, I believe?

[00:31:26] It is.

[00:31:27] So next week is one episode.

[00:31:29] And then the week after that is the finale.

[00:31:32] Crazy.

[00:31:33] Fast.

[00:31:34] Yes, it has happened fast.

[00:31:36] But one thing is for sure, I have enjoyed my coverage

[00:31:40] of survivor Philadelphia with you, Timmy, and you can guarantee

[00:31:43] that we'll be covering the last two episodes before we go.

[00:31:47] Where can the people follow you at?

[00:31:49] Timmy, but before you go to me if at all, you know,

[00:31:53] the real survivor season is around the corner

[00:31:56] and we are kicking off the BWP, the Bryce and Wynn tour 47.

[00:32:01] We are taking on our biggest tour yet.

[00:32:04] Ten cities.

[00:32:05] We will be kicking it off September 18th in New York City.

[00:32:08] From there we'll be headed to Dallas, Los Angeles, Nashville,

[00:32:12] New Orleans, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, and because the people

[00:32:17] of our cities, capital of our nation, they say how you have a

[00:32:21] campaign tour and not come into DC.

[00:32:23] So we added a spot.

[00:32:25] We'll be going to DC and we'll be ending back in New York.

[00:32:28] So if you want to come join the fun and the community

[00:32:33] Bryce and Wynn, the tickets are available.

[00:32:35] You can click the link in the Bryce and Wynn Instagram

[00:32:37] or Twitter bio and we will see you on the campaign trail.

[00:32:41] I know Timmy will be popping out at a couple of stops.

[00:32:44] So you can see live, live, live, live and in color.

[00:32:49] Yes, make sure y'all come and come say, hey, I want to see y'all there.

[00:32:54] I'll be at some of them.

[00:32:56] So make sure you get your ticket and I can't wait to see you there.

[00:32:59] But yeah, Bryce, as we get ready to close out,

[00:33:02] I want to give one big shout out to Manfred because as a member

[00:33:05] of this jury, even though I came from Manfred,

[00:33:08] I want to see Manfred win this game.

[00:33:10] I'm rooting for him.

[00:33:11] I came for him for a reason.

[00:33:13] He's a big target because he's a great player.

[00:33:16] And part of being a great player means following me on Instagram.

[00:33:20] So you can follow me on Instagram at Timstagram B.

[00:33:24] You can also catch me on the Bryce and Wynn present page

[00:33:28] over on Instagram as well.

[00:33:30] I'll be posting content talking about Survivor even more.

[00:33:33] So catch me there.

[00:33:35] Yes. Well, all right, children's, we will see you or child.

[00:33:40] We will see you next week.

[00:33:41] This has been your purple pants podcast coverage.

[00:33:44] I can't talk coverage of Survivor Philadelphia season three.

[00:33:47] Episode eight, we're out.

[00:33:49] See y'all.
