Congratulations to my co-host and welcome back to the podcast, my co-host and the winner of Amazing Race Season 29, Ms. Brooke Cam. Hi, Brooke. We got a new season.

[00:02:49] First of all, I'm a Carrie. I'm a Carrie. So there was a long time where I did feel like I was Carrie Bradshaw in New York City. But, well, you know what the funny part is? Every, I feel like every girl group has at one point discussed, like, which friend are you? Which sex in the city member? And it changes depending on your friend group. Like, in one friend group, you could be a Samantha. In a different friend group, you're like that pretty Miranda person. Baby, I'm always Samantha. Okay.

[00:03:18] Actually, fair statement. Okay, sorry. We're already off topic. Welcome back to a new season. This is going to be great. And I'm so glad you can finally say it's the winner of Season 29 because, like you didn't know, you called me a contestant for the entire rewatch. But I'm so happy we got through it. And I'm happy you saw it for the first time for real. Yeah. It was good, right? And here we are, fast forwarding 10 seasons later. I think we're going to go back and do 19 for the next rewatch. So we'll do the nines.

[00:03:49] 19's a good one, too. But for today, let's discuss the teams that we're going to see on the newest season of The Amazing Race. Season, I can't believe it's 39. 39. Yes. And honestly, I'm really excited. There are some really good teams. So I have not watched or looked at any of the photos. The photos dropped maybe a couple of weeks ago. And, of course, everybody is doing everything.

[00:04:15] And so I saw a couple pop up on my social media. But I quickly dismantled because I was like, it don't really happen. Wait, so you know nothing? You didn't even look at the photos yet? We're doing this, like, blind for you. Okay. We're doing it very, very blind. I get shout out to my editor for putting together the slideshow because I was like, I don't want to look. So I am excited. A new season. Although I feel like, you know, all summer we got to watch Amazing Race.

[00:04:45] And if you did not watch our summer rewatch, do yourself a favor in this in-between time before 39 comes back and watch our summer rewatch of 29. But also get yourself some earplugs because somebody's microphone was turned up a lot more than everybody else's. Somebody was me. Okay. Okay. Anyway, that's fine. Also, shout out to all the new racers who reached out and said hello and are excited to be part of the Amazing Race community.

[00:05:13] I hate the word, like, the Amazing Race family. But we kind of are, like, a totally dysfunctional, super fun welcome to the family. This is, I will say, the first season in a long time where I have no idea how anybody finishes. So I don't want to know. I don't want to be spoiled. I'm sure at some point I'll probably get spoiled. Wasn't this the season that you text me and Cesar texts you and were like, the pit stop is somewhere here and y'all was running around trying to find them? No, man.

[00:05:43] That was last season when they finished in New York. That was Jag and Jazz and Taylor and Kylan and, holy crap, Joseph and Adam, who finished in New York. And that's where Cesar and I popped around New York City. And it literally, there was a clue box across the street from our old apartment. And I'm like, if we'd still live there, we would have watched it happen.

[00:06:08] But yes, shout out to Stater, winner of season 36, for traveling 17 miles faster than everybody else. And who popped around New York City by Lincoln Center and had lunch with me at the end of last season's filming. But this time, I know nothing. And I'm excited. But I do know who the teams are. And some of them reached out. And I know a little bit about them. I've done a little bit of digging.

[00:06:34] And I am genuinely excited. Which hasn't happened in a while. So, yay. Well, I mean, it's like Hanukkah, Christmas, or Kwanzaa. We get a new season of The Amazing Race. I am excited as well. And so we can take a look. You know, here is the teams. And so I'm excited.

[00:07:01] Just right off the bat, to me, it looks like we have a lot of women, women teams. Okay? Lady, lady. And y'all know over here, that gets me excited. Because as I have gone on my pilgrimage to The Amazing Race world, I've yet to see a woman, woman team win. Because it doesn't happen enough. And I am so hopeful it would happen this season.

[00:07:30] And honestly, there are some badass ladies on this season. So I think we might have a shot. Okay. I mean, yeah. I see a lot of couples. Again, I don't want to look too deep into it. I want to wait until the photos come up. But again, it looks like an array of people. And so I'm excited to get in. It looks like we've got some older, younger teammates. And so, yeah, we got, I can't really tell if anybody's tall because a lot of the people are sitting down.

[00:08:00] But it looks like a fun photo. And in my opinion, like, are they in a swamp land? Is that like a river behind them? I mean, yes. I think. I don't know what the hell, where they are. They start in Vancouver. Doesn't look very Vancouver-y to me. So maybe this is finish line day. We took our pictures at the finish line. So maybe that's the case. Well, that's because wasn't y'all, we just watched the season. Y'all didn't know each other.

[00:08:28] These teams look like they know each other. But still, they could have done like the group photos and stuff at the end. This might be after the winners have won. So what we should do is we should just look at who looks the most haggard and who looks like they haven't, you know, shaved their beard or done their hair. Because those are, if you look very closely at our season, you can tell like the three teams that were just like kind of a little bit of a mess.

[00:08:55] Those were the teams that made it to the end because they didn't have time to groom properly before the cast photos. Well, I mean, again, that was a whole decade ago. I think we've come a long way in modern. Oh, actually, it was a decade ago. Yeah, we've come a long way. Okay. So I think they got it together. But again, listen, I can't wait anymore. Let's get into our first team. Oh, our first team. Okay. This looks like daughter and dad.

[00:09:25] I don't know why this team is giving me. Naroon and Natalia. Not Naroon and Natalia. No, this team is giving me. Oh, my God. Chris and Mary. Oh, you know what? Kind of. She kind of does look like Mary, actually. That's Andrea. She is a 20. Oh, do you want to like. Guess some stuff about them? Or you want me to just. I'm going to give you like. Just tell me. Tell me. Tell me. Andrea is a 25 year old medical student who might not be a student anymore.

[00:09:55] Anwar is her 58 year old developer father. They're from Houston, Texas. And I have done just like not super creepy stalker behavior, but like stalker behavior. I basically went to their Instagrams and, you know, any companies they said that they worked at to see what I can find out. Not, not LinkedIn. What the hell, Brooke? Girl. Look, we don't stop at just Instagram here on the purple pads podcast.

[00:10:21] We deep dive into every place you've ever clicked. Okay. So I can't find a lot about him, but about her, she seems musical. There are videos of her playing the guitar. She seems well traveled. She's been skydiving. I feel like. I'm a little bit. I kind of feel a little bit. Ann Lee and I'm sorry. Ann Lee and her dad, Steve. I feel like this may be a come on dad situation.

[00:10:48] But again, he doesn't have a huge footprint online. So maybe he is a super marathon runner and I just don't know it. But I like the look of these two. I love the daddy daughter team. You know, I know. And he's leaning on her shoulder and she is giving us a strong pose. Right. And so she's telling us like she is running this ship and my dad is racing with me. He gives me. He got a minivan.

[00:11:18] And so I feel like he's going to be able to navigate. Well, you said he's a developer. So I feel like there might be some of the challenges that he'll instantly kind of see. And so I like them already. You know what? I totally agree with you. I think that the teams that have someone who's a little bit older, someone in their 40s or above, who grew up with MapQuest and actual physical maps as opposed to what? You grew up with MapQuest. Girl, no, I didn't. Yes, you did.

[00:11:48] I remember you talking about saying you had to do the directions in reverse on the piece of paper. Don't look. We're still spring chickens. We're not like chickadees. I might be a chicken. But hey, this is giving autumn winter chicken over here. But yeah, MapQuest was a thing. And he looks like a dad that got his suit belt on and that he can navigate a minivan. So I'm excited. And give me their name.

[00:12:18] First of all, listen. Anwar and Andrea. Oh, yeah. You're never going to be called the same thing twice by Bryce. So it's all with love. Anwar and Andrea. I'm excited. Okay. I am too. Anwar looks like he's ready. Okay. Okay. What do we got next? Ooh. Okay. Bryce. I hate to call a winner pick early. Okay. This is Allie and Joanna. They are professional soccer players.

[00:12:46] I don't know if you follow women's soccer. This is a soccer household. It wasn't before it became a household. But, you know, Matt's a huge soccer person. And I have gotten into soccer. When I tell you. Tell me what. What? No, I'm just saying. First of all, you know this is a soccer household over here. I've been in soccer for multiple years. You and Matt just met as Brooke's husband. Who also owes me 72 cents. Because I gave him 10 cents two summers ago. For him to invest. But anyway.

[00:13:15] Brooke and Matt just got into. Hold on. No, no, no. Brooke. Not. Matt played soccer in college. And growing up. Like he is a D1 soccer player. He played soccer. Okay. I might have been a D3. I'm just saying. Like. I am newer kids. I'm sure you and Matt just got into soccer during the World Cup. Because they was going to the bars together. Okay. There we go. But back to the soccer team. Back to these ladies. Because they deserve all of the discussion. Allie, 42. Joanna, 44. I love the. Yes.

[00:13:45] Yes. This is where I feel the sweet spot is. Late 30s. Early 40s. In shape. Allie is a two-time World Cup champion. Olympian. From New Jersey. Which I love. I don't. I don't. No. If she was a huge fan of the race before. But I haven't spoken to Joanna. Who, by the way. Super nice. Reached out. U.S. Women's National Team. She's from Silver Springs, Maryland. She's super nice. Super cool.

[00:14:15] Honestly. Am I rooting for her because she reached out and she's super cool? Yes. I mean. Am I rooting for them because they're an all-female team. And it's been damn too long since two women won this race? Yes. Yes. Am I rooting for them? Because they are bound to be so good at the physical challenges. And they just look so, I mean, especially Joanna. They look very happy to be there. And I like the fact that they're the age that they are.

[00:14:43] I like that they're not two 22-year-olds with not the life experience they have. I guess soon. I mean, you get to your 40s. You've lived some life. I am. Wouldn't know. But I would. Putting money. You know soon. Okay. Putting money on these two. This is it. I'm with you. I don't know. I like them. They seem athletic. They seem fun. They almost give me like sunny and busy. Was it sunny and bunny? Sunny and busy vibes. And they were a strong team.

[00:15:12] They got caught up on something, you know, that happens in the race. But no, they look amazing. The only thing that scares me is that you said she's a two-time World Cup champion. And if other, you know, from watching Amazing Race Season 29 this summer, Brooke has shared with us, there's a lot of downtime sometimes. Traveling and you get to know people. I'm scared that they'll tell other teams. And that could be a reason for a U-turn or a role.

[00:15:42] I don't care. I'm just saying. I like them. They feel like they'll take on whatever's in front of them. I mean, soccer is, I want to say the hardest physical sport. You never stop moving. I mean, Matt's told me you run several miles in a game without. Because once you're out of the soccer match, you're out. You know, you get it. I feel like you cannot have any quit in you. And your cardio has to be so on.

[00:16:12] And the race is so, I think this season they go 25,000 miles. So it's a decent amount of miles. Ricky and Cesar could never. Yes, they could. They didn't. But they could. And, well, that's not their fault. And so I just, ah, my money is here. Okay. I like it. I don't. It's kind of early for me to just say Winnipeg. And mind you, they reached out to you. So you got a little team bias. I'm totally biased. Yep.

[00:16:42] Love their energy. Love like how they're in sync, but they're different. Right? Like you could just tell the one with the shorts and kind of has like a fun haircut. The other has like a little crop top and some tights. And so I love that because it's like we're in sync. We in sync. We can move together. However, I just know they have different hidden talents because they're just so different, but the same. So I really like them. Sorry. Just going to say one other thing, Joanna.

[00:17:09] I think when I looked it up was one of the people, one of the players who like fought for salary increases for women in sports and for equality. And so honestly, women supporting women. Stop trying to make me like them even more. Okay. I like them. They shouldn't do things that make you like them. They're very likable. Okay. At least the one I talked to is. Okay. Let's move on. Who else we got here? Oh, okay. Oh, okay. Do you see Lulu and Lala?

[00:17:38] I see Lulu and Lala, but like, is this sister, sister? Is this mom, sister? Sister. The older one's 26. This is sister, sister. Okay. This is Katie and Charlotte. They are sisters and estheticians. Please send me any tips or tricks or products that you have. Say us. Please thank you. From Kentucky. So here's the thing. One of them is 20. You used to have to be 21 to run the amazing race.

[00:18:05] Remember Floyd lied when he was applying about his age, but was 21 before we started. So I think it's the one on the right is 20 years old. The older one is 26. They do look like runners. I want to root for all the women. And I am. But is there a but coming? The only but coming is, I don't know how much traveling they've done. I don't know how much traveling they've done together.

[00:18:34] And at 20 years old, I don't know that you've experienced some of the things that may help you on the race. Life experience is a real thing. Katie and Charlotte. Hey, Katie and Charlotte. My name's Bryce. First of all, it's the outfits for me. Okay. The matching outfits with the look. Okay. We could tell y'all are fit. You got your hands on the hips. So y'all mean business. You don't need a lot of life experience.

[00:19:03] That's, you know, don't listen to the older millennials. Okay. When they tell you that. I like them. They seem like they could. They're in sync. Okay. That's what I get from this photo. In sync. Beautiful. Love the fashions. And so that means. You're trying to get free products. I love you. First of all, you know, I do like a little dewy moisturizer. I've got oily skin sometimes. But yeah, listen. And a little.

[00:19:32] I'm waiting to try a little Botox too. But listen. What I like about them is they seem in sync. And so I feel like they are going to work together. Now, mind you. Do I love a little sister argument? That's what I'm thinking. They're either going to be so well, like, connected and do really well. Or this is going to be. Polar magnet things, but I don't know. But I'm excited to see him either way. Here's what I say. Listen.

[00:20:02] Got the first couple of legs to figure that out. Because, you know, here on the Purple Pants podcast, pit stop rule number 673. You don't want to be in the head of the pet at the beginning. So they have some time. But again, I do. I do wonder. You said Kentucky. I do wonder about. Navigating and travel and driving. Right. Because they look really, really in sync. They look super young. They give me Uber. They give me.

[00:20:31] They Uber it. They giving me. They going out to the park. That's what I'm saying. Have you read a map? At 20, you've never had to read a map. Now, maybe these are two women who have practiced with maps. And I hope that they have. And learned to drive stick ships. And I hope that they have. And I am very much rooting for the ladies. So there is absolutely no hate here. I would love to see them do well. Would I also love to see a little bliss spice? Sure. Into it.

[00:20:58] And if season 29 has taught you anything, you have more than a few legs to figure it out. You can be a disaster for a good chunk of this shit and still do quite well. So get after it. Katie and Charlotte. We're going to have the whole season to figure it out. So listen, I love it. Katie and Charlotte. Super excited. Super excited to see your outfits develop. Was it Charlisa? And they called her Lisa. Who the hell is Charlisa?

But anyway, her name today is Charlisa. It's Charlisa. Okay. Yeah. The one thing that I loved about her was every scene, every, every start of the race, her face was on and beat. And so I would, I would love to see that, uh, but super excited for them. Now let's see who we got now. Oh, y'all.

Sorry. Okay. Are they? Let me just guess real quick. Are they? They could be sisters, but I'm getting, okay. They're sisters. Okay. I was going to give best friends. Okay. It says sisters slash best friends from Chicago. So you got it right from both friends.

[00:22:23] This is, I think, Daphina or Daphina and Saran or Saren. I have to hear it pronounced first. 52, not long. And 51, you gotta be kidding me, from Chicago. They have a lot of winner picks and they're all women. Listen, first of all, I do love that we're four teams in and three of the teams are women. I mean, there's not much more. But still, this is awesome. Daphina.

[00:22:51] And again, if I'm pronouncing it wrong, I'll get it right by the first week. And I apologize. Let's call Daphina for short. Okay. She is a bond analyst, not totally short, but and a DJ. Okay. And Saran, personal trainer and founder of a company called Kids Leading Kids, which is a leadership development company, which gives kids confidence, builds character and skills to deal with life challenges. I am into this. I love children.

[00:23:21] I love women. I love all this stuff. I just love the vibe. Like they are in shape. They have the life experience. I don't care. I think that it has a value here. I don't think they're going to get tired fast. These are sisters who have been together for 50 years. I, the difference, I think, between the sisters in their 20s and the sisters in their 50s are, if there were issues, childhood issues, like I feel like they might be worked out. Oh, baby, baby, baby. That's not always the case. Okay.

[00:23:52] You know what the vibe is here for me? Is it giving Milena and out-of-towners? No. But, sure. But no. It was giving me Jackie and... Oh, Jackie and Lauren. Lauren vibes. Yes. Oh, okay. I can see that. Just wonderful people. Positive, supportive. A little bit older sisters. They're not a little... They are your age. They are not older. These are beautiful. I am a little bit older.

[00:24:22] Well, you are not these beautiful sisters. Now, mind you, I do want to know what a bond agent is. Okay. Bond analyst? I think it's a finance thing. Yeah, yeah. I thought it was like maybe you watched all of the James Bond movies. Like James. And you analyze them all. But, okay. She good. So that means she's good with money. Boom. The other sister is into fitness, into kids.

[00:24:46] That means when they are in these foreign lands, they'll be able to get help very, very quickly. They look strong. They look like they can figure it out. Right? I think you might have glossed over the most important part. DJ. Whenever there is a challenge with music, rhythm, dancing, all of that, you're bopping to the beat all the time. I feel like that is going to be a very valuable skill. Yeah.

[00:25:15] And I love their energy. Like very strong, very feminine. I also love they got their black girl braids on. They say we're going on an amazing race. We are prepared. So I'm excited. Yeah. Again, but sisters. So I feel like we might see a little sister back and forth. But I love it because that keeps it interesting. And so, yeah. This is the first time in a long time where I think the final three teams can all be women.

[00:25:43] And if that happened, which has never happened, by the way, if that happens, I would be so happy. But I think it's possible. Oh, my God. Let's keep looking. Let's manifest it. Sorry to the men. Y'all know. Well, first of all, yeah. First of all, where are the men? I don't know. I've only been one. Let's shoot some. But I would love that. Oh, my God. That would be so iconic. Okay.

[00:26:13] Don't even get me too hype. Okay. Who we got next? Oh. This is Zach and Nate. Ask for the men's. Now, okay. Zach and Nate. Now, my shoes. And we'll see. Now, Zach and Nate. This is my first time seeing a photo. It's a bit farther.

[00:26:31] So, it's given either dad and son or nephew and uncle or maybe best friends or maybe brother and brother. Okay. So, they're brothers. The older one is 30. Oh. And the other one is 27. I feel the same thing. I just don't. Maybe it's just how far away the picture is. Zach is 30.

[00:26:59] He's a car salesman and co-founder of a company called Pipely. And Nate is 27 and a sales director, I believe, at Pipely, which is an AI company that apparently finds customers, books meetings, reaches out in your voice, basically manages your business. Nate is a 27-year-old. He is a young father. They just look happy. They look happy-go-lucky. I think this is a cool brother bonding experience.

[00:27:27] Lance, we've seen many times brothers do very well unless you're Lance and Marshall and you give up. But on the race- I feel eliminated, but we're not going to go there. Okay. I like the brother- Did you just say you get a fill- I was saying it like you. Forget it. Move on. Yes. Filimination. Okay. The younger one has a baby. Mm-hmm. The only one might too, but I didn't see that anywhere. Okay. Mm-hmm. From Dallas, Texas. Okay. From Texas. Mm-hmm. They look strong. They look fun. They look energetic.

[00:27:57] Mm-hmm. So if one's 30 and the other one's 27, they're not that far in age. So, yeah, I'm excited. Very interesting pose. It looks like they almost could be holding a baby or making a muscle. I'm not sure. Looks like they're about to take off. Who looks like that? Oh, I get it. I mean, I don't know. He's a new dad. You know, it looks like he's at least supporting the net. So I love that. But again, two brothers excited.

[00:28:25] There's a lot of siblings going on in this season and I am for it. And, well, you can- Do you have a prediction here? Well, okay. Here's my thing. Because I like them. But I believe they own a company with AI. The other brother works for it. The one thing that scares me, like you said, reading a map and different stuff.

[00:28:50] I feel like in this AI generation, a lot of people are like, hey, what time is it? Hey, like I feel like they are reliant a lot on just spitting out things to AI and getting the answers back. So I feel like there might be a learning curve here. But we like the brothers from Dallas. Similar, same shirt. Different bottoms.

[00:29:15] So again, I feel like, just me reading the photo, I feel like the one in the black shorts. I feel like he runs a tight ship. Okay. I don't know. On the left hand side? Zach. Yes. Okay, yeah. Zach. Okay. I feel like Zach runs a tight ship. I feel like Zach could be like a type A. I feel like Zach is giving me Brooke vibes a little bit. Remember Sam and Dan from season 15 where they were like, but they did really, really well? This might be like a- Yeah. So that's what I'm saying.

[00:29:45] I feel like Zach is going to be running a tight ship. And I feel like the younger brother with the gray shorts, he's going to be like enjoying, having fun. And so I feel like it might be a little bumpy, but we're going to get it together. But I'm excited. And it looks like they have very high energy. So let's see. Oh. Right? Can I have six winner picks? Because honestly, this team is, I'm excited for you to hear about them. This is Anne-Marie and Riley. Okay. Anne-Marie is-

[00:30:15] Is this mother and daughter? Yes, this is. Anne-Marie is a 56-year-old. I feel like she's lying. Healthcare executive. Ooh. I think these two are sleepers. I think she's also a grandmother. She's a mother and a grandmother. Uh-oh. Come on, G-Mom. But my real excitement here, Riley, 29 years old, Marine. Oh. Badass. 9% of Marines are women.

[00:30:41] She not only is a Marine, but is trying to become the first woman, Marine, Olympian, bobsled pilot. Not the bobsled. The bobsled is when it's like the skating on the ice and you got to run and like- Did you ever see Cool Runnings? The Jamaican bobsleds? Yeah. You like push that thing and then you hop in the thing and then you go down the lugey thing. And then the last of the Winter Olympics, the American male team, they were a mess if I remember. But listen.

[00:31:11] Well, get Riley out there. She's strong. But mind you, Riley looks fit. But baby, it's Anne-Marie for me. She does too. I feel like Anne-Marie is going to have it together. Sometimes I worry. You know, when it's mother-child teams, I sometimes worry about the mom. I'm not worried about the mom here. I feel like these two are another sleeper. Do you see what I'm saying? The women-women teams could really all go to the end. I'm with you.
