[00:02:20] Welcome back to your Purple Pants Podcast. Pit Stop coverage of Amazing Race season 37, episode four. I am super excited to be here with my amazing, my funny, my witty, my ever so loving co-host, the winner of Amazing Race season 29. God, gorgeous. And handsomely gorgeous. Okay.

See, I just said gorgeous. How are you? I am in a hotel room. I feel like you who travels all the time, but I will never ever. I will go for my honeymoon. I will go from basically my wedding day. I will podcast you anytime, any day with you anytime, any day. So welcome to San Francisco.

[00:03:14] I got to watch the episode on the plane, which was cool on the way out here. Taking my notes like in my little recorder and then writing stuff down. And a lady sitting next to me on the plane was looking at me like, what's wrong with this girl? So much. She doesn't even know. She barely scratched the surface. If you write it down, why do you record it then write it down? So this is so well, because I don't want to miss anything like that's how you get 14 pages front and back. I as I'm watching the episode will be like Jeff and pop six place after the whatever.

[00:03:44] Like, and then I need to have it so I can like see it because it's just like a garbled bunch of like, I don't know, like, Alyssa totally amazing that she's not really pissed off that she has to do like a ton of work that Jonathan and Ana gave her. She's so badass. And then I just put it like, like, it doesn't say it properly. And it's just like, Alyssa, but my voice recording is dumb. And so then I have to write down like and on page eight, I'm like, Alyssa, total badass at the road ball.

[00:04:12] You know, I got to be organized for you because if I come in unorganized, I worry that I'll be replaced. Oh, you could never be younger, more handsomely gorgeous model who of co-host to one, like, I don't know, a later season. You'll get yourself a say sir. Oh, I mean, well, listen, if a if a say sir came a knocking a Bob Bob Brooker, a camera. No, never. OK, well, I'm so glad that I do this. OK, cool.

[00:04:43] I forgot that you we recorded on your honeymoon and you were like, oh, my God, I forgot all about that. She's not lying. She did. It was the best backdrop I ever had for a podcast in my entire life. I'm like out. We had one of those bungalows over the water and I was like out over the water being like, I need the Wi-Fi to work out here. And it did. It worked great. Amazing race. Guys were in your favor.

[00:05:10] Well, listen, we have an episode to get to. And because I got to start every episode off like how I'll be starting these episodes off. Like I said before, I'm new to the amazing race world. I've seen a couple in the past. I've been watching a couple of the recent seasons and season 37 is delivering. OK, we had from the first episode, we had airport drama.

[00:05:38] Then we have in taxi and car and place switch up. This episode is teen drama. And when I say I am locked, loaded, sat, perched and ready to get into this because I love it when it's teen drama, because I I feel like the last couple of seasons. It's a little kumbaya. We're all friends. We're all friends.

[00:06:05] Let's go down to the Mickey D's, even though I think what's in your McDonald's bag. Hold it. Hold it. What? What is in the McDonald's bag? I don't want them to go home. But when they do go home, I'm excited to find maybe I mean, or on the last day. I don't know. I mean, you know what I'm saying? Like when we finally get to talk to them. Like inquiring my mind, I just want to know. I just need to know. Like that's that's it. OK, whatever. But I like it.

[00:06:33] It must be good because he ate it all because he brought the bag with him. He didn't have time to eat it all. He had limited space in his backpack. He's now using that as like his initial his additional tote. OK, it's smart. Yeah. But what were your overall thoughts of the episode before we get into I'm dying to know? OK, so I like this twist, but I think it needs a little bit of tweaking. I the way it was done, I think it needs to be tweaked.

[00:06:59] But yes, I was going to say, because I think it should be tweaked, too. Yeah. Do we want to get into it now? Because like. Yeah, we can totally however you want to do it. My my thought is so it's not so much even with the actual drivers, a little bit with the driver's seat. But my bigger gripe with it is what they did right before the driver's seat, like having to do the ATVs and go through and come back. There was no opportunity to pass anybody on an ATV.

[00:07:28] So like the person who went first got out first and they got to the driver's seat first. Unless you're Mark and Brett and you got really lost. I'm so glad they didn't go home, too. But like there was really no opportunity to change that order. And so I lowkey, I love Jonathan and Anna, but I really, really would have loved if they didn't have that power, because I just consistently want to see Jonathan lose it. And I just find it so delicious. He's great. He's such great TV and he's so fun.

[00:07:56] And I can't wait to meet him because I think he's as awesome in person because you've met him and you said he's great. I just I want them to have minor inconveniences because I find them so much. Sorry. I agree. I agree. My little tweak would be because there's 10 teams left. Right. I would like it if they did it kind of like how they did on the first episode five and five. So you only can control four. And then the next person that gets it can only control four.

[00:08:26] And you get to pick the teams that you like. So then all nine teams will be on the wall. And you can pick the team. And if you pick and say your next step, then you can't be in the driver's seat. It will have to be a team that's open. Oh, see, I'm thinking maybe team one picks how much work team two does or team. No, team one picks how much work another team does. That team picks how much work another team does. But it does. I don't know if that necessarily works if you don't know who's going to get there next. I don't know.

[00:08:56] I think there is a little bit to be done with this, but I do think it's a very interesting concept, which should be used again in some sort of fashion. I agree. I'm with you on that because I did think it was fun. It definitely sparked the tension that I needed to see. And I mean, I think it's going to get even worse next week. Worse, better, more delicious next week. I think it's going to be something. OK, so should we do it? Let's do it. All right. Episode four.

[00:09:25] You know, this is why I write all my notes, because now I can go episode four, because right now all I have is like Scott and Lori 145. Like I just I just fine. So we're going from Kyoto, Japan, 3000 miles to Bali, Indonesia, routinely voted one of the best travel destinations in the world. I have not been to Bali, but I'm neither of I dying. Like when we go to wherever we said we were going last time, I think it must have been Japan. Then we should also hop. We should just follow. Let's just follow this race.

[00:09:55] We should do what Ricky and Sager are doing. Yes, I am down. They look like they're having so much fun. I won't go to Bali. Me too. Let's do it. I got to stop. I don't want to go to Bali like how the celebrities be going. I don't want to go to Bali because I guess Bali isn't one of those countries that expedites to the US. Sorry. So, you know, there are people that have are wanted by the law extradites,

[00:10:23] extradite to expedite them. OK, it's a wait. So it's a non extradition country. So if you get arrested there, you're stuck there. Or or I just know that if you have legal issues in the United States. Right. Then the people to come get you. Right. That's what you want. Yeah. That's what you have legal. OK, we won't talk about it. But I'm just saying, you know, because that's that's what that's what Russell Simmons is. But, you know, that's what, you know, allegedly. No, that was he's there. OK, OK.

[00:10:54] So we're going to Bali. Thankfully, neither of us are on the FBI. Also, also. What? It was a rocket. The people in the comments agreed it was a rocket. Just I read the comments. I don't know what you're talking about. They don't want to. It was your 500th episode. Nobody wanted to disagree with you. They wanted you to feel good about yourself. And so do I. So, you know what? It was a rocket. Thankfully, we don't have to deal with it again this week. No rockets. OK, so.

[00:11:25] We have Scott and Lori leaving at 145 a.m. Jack and Carson. And so. Well, actually, based on your prediction. Right. You said there wasn't really necessary space for orders to change. No, no. From the time they got to the ATV. But I mean, get to the get to the ATVs first. Well, but you could get to the driver's seat. OK, fair enough. That's fair. That's fair. Jack and Carson 148. Jonathan and Anna 209. Erica and Melinda. Dark Horse 235.

[00:11:55] Mark and Brett 236. Jeff and Pops 240. They had a great episode to a list and Josiah also a great episode 303. Mike and Nick 436. Han and Holden 456 and bringing up the rear. Brony and Kerrigan at 538. I loved watching them this week, too. Very sorry to see them go. OK, so this is the episode. We're talking about it with the Amazing Race's first ever driver's seat. Let's see how this goes. I write and we did. OK, so I wrote down you.

[00:12:24] You said I said, let's see how this goes. Yeah, yeah. And then you wrote it down. Yes. OK, you can judge me all you want. I I was going to say I guarantee you. Sacer's not come with 14 pages of notes, but you know what? I bet he would. So don't please don't replace me. OK, so I wrote I wrote down and probably also said I don't know. Do we think that the express pass can skip the driver's seat task? Because I didn't know what the driver's seat exactly was going to be. I didn't know if it was going to be a roadblock.

[00:12:53] And so doesn't matter because the person who had the express pass also had the driver's seat. So maybe we'll find out another time in another life. OK, so first things first, we have a travel agency, which, you know, I love travel agency drama, but we didn't really get that much drama. We got to all have what he's having. You do the work. I'll copy you, which is fine. But I was yelling at the Dungeon Brothers a little bit or the Dungeon Boys, because I'm like, don't just get up in there and say I'll have what they're having.

[00:13:22] Uh, can anything get there faster? Like I would say I'll have what they're having. I'll let them leave and be like, what else should also? Right, right. Great. So but OK, so here's what happens. The best I could figure it out from watching and talking and being on an airplane. So the top three teams, we have Scott and Laurie, Jack and Carson and Jonathan and Anna are at the travel agency. So they're all like, let's all stick together and stay in the front. And and Jack is like, yes, let's all, you know, help each other.

[00:13:49] And then Jonathan and Anna walk away and he's like low key, like, um, let's also like try and like get them out. So sneaky, sneaky, Jack. And I love that. I love a little sneaky, sneaky. I was all for, you know, paying bus drivers to leave the depot early and doing what I could to like not help the teams that like whatever it's a race. Like I, I have, I take a little bit of like umbrage with some of the things that happen a little thing with Scott and Laurie that happens and we'll talk about it later. It is a race.

[00:14:17] This is not the amazing best friend. This is the amazing race. That would be a lot of know what they do. Well, no, I mean, they do. They do. They might be putting it on a little too hard. We'll say. Because the other teams is picking up the tea. But. I think my favorite moment, um, was like the last minute. Like, yeah. Mm-hmm. Okay. And who said it? My girl. Okay. I said, Ooh, Alyssa. Give her the trophy. Okay.

[00:14:45] So all the others, every team gets on the same flight with, with the exception of Bernie and Kerrigan. Now, go ahead. Go ahead. Yep. Same, same. Go ahead. Like, come on. I'm, I'm. Hold on. Here we go. Sorry. Oh no. Hold on. Wait. Hello. Welcome to my Ted talk. Amazing race producers. Don't have one team be able to get on the last charter. At least put three of them.

[00:15:13] I felt like it was too many teams on the first plane. Don't just have one team out there. I don't appreciate that. Do better. Thank you. Fair enough. However, however, I, you don't need to make me big for this. This isn't really a Ted talk. I'm just sort of making a point. Bernie and Kerrigan got to the travel agency at five something. The flight that everybody else was on, it was at seven 55. I am guessing. And I'm very curious to ask them when in our exit interview.

[00:15:43] Curious. The lady of the travel agency is like, you're not going to make that flight. And they were like, okay, put us on the next flight. You put me on that flight and I will get to that airport. Don't tell me I'm not going to make it. You don't know. You don't know what I can do. You don't know how fast I can. No, I can't. I'm not fast. So like maybe they should know I can't run like it's not great. But nobody tells me what I can't do. Like, if I have two hours to get on that flight, how far could it possibly have been from the airport? Like, just I'll do my best. Get me on that flight.

[00:16:13] So I was hoping that Bernie and Kerrigan would have been like a little more forceful and pushing back and be like, just put me on it. Worst case scenario, I get to the airport and I'll put myself on a later flight. And maybe, maybe they did that. And the show just didn't air. It's very possible because, you know, there's behind. They can't put everything in the show. But I wish they did push harder and try harder because I sort of was in my head going, the amazing race wouldn't make it so that only one team gets on the next flight. I feel like they could have gotten on that flight.

[00:16:41] So we'll talk about it when we talk about it, but it didn't look like they tried. It looked like they were told by the travel agency, no. And they said, OK, which is sort of what happened at the airport that last time where they were told by the gate agent, no. And so they said, OK, and walked away and they could have gotten on the flight with Erica and Jeff and their parents. So, but I need the backstory. I did enjoy about this flight, though.

[00:17:02] It was giving me flashbacks of season five, Colin and Christie, who were in the lead and they would be hours ahead. Then they would get to the roadblock and they couldn't open a roadblock until the morning. So I was like, OK, amazing race. I'm loving all of this, even though I didn't really like to pick the numbers. And then we all just go on order. I didn't love that. But I like how although Bernie and Kerrigan were at the end, the great equalizer was you can't get your clue until the sun comes up.

[00:17:32] I do like that. OK, so two things. One, I need to know what happened at the airport that time, the last time they didn't get on a flight. What happened to travel agency when they told they couldn't get on this flight? And what's in Holden's McDonald's bag? So these are like the three burning questions that I have for now. OK, so flight one, 755 in the morning, everyone but Bernie and Kerrigan. And listen, I said it last week. Do you see these people out of the airport that they be taking off?

[00:18:01] And even the Dungeon Brothers, Jack and Carson, they even talked about how last week on their podcast, how they were like sprinting. They were like, what is going on here? Like they are not playing when they get out the airport. As long as your partner is fast enough and can stay within 20 feet of you, run as fast as you can. I mean, the camera people will keep up with you. So, you know how many times I heard 20 foot rule because like Scott was out running me because let's get real.

[00:18:27] And then and then at the finale, when we ran to the final mat, like after we did it, they just did an additional like taping of us running. And they're like, you've never run that fast in your in the entire race. I was like, a million dollars. Like now I run. But they said that they said that on your retaping. So on the real. No, they said it after I we got up there. Could you have run that fast the whole time? And I was like, maybe.

[00:18:56] Who said that? A producer? The camera guy. I mean, when it's actually there, like in your grasp, you book it. I was like, no one's coming up behind me. Fastest I ever run ever. Anyway, whatever. OK, so they land at 440 PM. All the teams are running to get the taxi in the heat, to which I'm thinking, how will Jonathan do? We know he has a heat issue. They didn't say it for no reason. I think it comes up next week.

[00:19:25] Also, apparently the heat makes him have to pee. I don't know. Maybe that's the thing. Dude had to be OK. So on flight two, you have burning in care again. Well, no, that's it. OK, so and into my thing, I go, are they going to be able to catch up? And so fine. And then wait, sort of because the clue box says your clue will arrive with the rising sun, which is great. However.

[00:19:50] I don't it's like a kind of equalizer, because like you said, it's a pick a number and then there's no way to pass anybody on the ATV. So the number you start is the number you stop. I get it's probably a safety concern if they're going to have ATVs passing each other and somebody would have crashed because they're like, let's play chicken. Somebody will get out of my way. It looks dangerous. I also was a little disappointed in an amazing race with the numbers because I wanted a team to be like, should we just get the next number?

[00:20:16] Like I would have loved it if maybe they went 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, or just spice it up a little bit. Like I would have loved somebody stop and be like, should we get the next one or should we go lower? You know, sometimes you never know with the numbers, but obviously. We are Teresa and Nemo. [00:21:13] There was a season where like it was an overnight, like your clue will arrive with the sun or whatever. Instead of numbers, they had all of these clues like hanging on trees in a forest and you go and you find a clue and it has like a start time for you or whatever. I think that would have been so cool. Hear me out. You get to this thing, your clue will arrive with the rising sun. But for now, find a start time or whatever. And there are like three that say 533 that say 545. What was season five? Okay, see, you've seen it, you know.

[00:21:42] And then, but then at those times, then you can run into the jungle to get your number and you have a chance one of three to get number one. Like it wasn't just you show up first, you get one. I want there to be some way where even if you didn't show up first, like maybe you guys are fast runners. Like Lori's a slogger. Like she's not going to get there as fast. I love, I love that term. I'm using it every day. But like, you know what I mean? It gives you the opportunity where if you are physically fit and like, you know, at 530, you're going to book it and you're going to try and get that number one like that.

[00:22:10] And then even if you can't pass people on the ATVs, there's some little extra added level of, oh, I have a shot to be one, even though my flight landed, you know, many hours later. I don't know. I thought that would have been a cool addition to it because you couldn't pass on the ATVs. So we had Jonathan and Anna, Mike and Nick. Good for you, Mike and Nick. Scott and Lori, Han and Holden. Good for you, Han and Holden. I like these teens that are like in the back coming to the front. Alyssa and Josiah, badass.

[00:22:39] Jeff and Pops, Brett and Mark, Erica and Melinda, Carson and Jack in ninth, and Bernie and Kerrigan, tenth, because there was no other place for them to be. If they had gotten something that said at 6 a.m., you run in, maybe you'll be seventh, maybe you'll be eighth, maybe you'll be ninth. I think that would have been cool. Right. That could have shut things up a little bit. Now, my. Right. Although Melinda and Erica have, you know, first of all, we love Melinda. But mind you, I got a little cuss out for Erica this week. Mind you, I'm loving Erica. I love Erica.

[00:23:09] My cuss out is at the start of the ATVs. Was it Jonathan that still had his emergency park on? Yes. And Melinda and Erica was like, your break is on, your break is on. I'm alive. Erica. Well, I missed that completely. Well, but the thing is, number two. Now, if number two could have started, then great. But like they couldn't do anything until number one went. So again, I like the opportunity.

[00:23:37] A little, you know, little, little tap on the wrist for Erica. Listen, if it's not popping Jeff, if it's not Holden and Han. If it's not Alyssa and Josiah, let let the emergency break be on. OK, let it be on. Yeah, I hear that. So it says like race because whatever in an orderly fashion where you can't pass anyone and no one can pass you on ATVs through the mud,

[00:24:07] through a cave to a waterfall and get your next. Look how happy on is. I love her. I love an ATV. I think they're so fun to ride. Like, are you into this? Is it something you'd want to do? Yeah, I've rode them a couple of times in Mexico. But every time I I've done it like three times. Every time I've been on it, I've had some type of issue where it'll start and then then it cuts off or in the middle of the race, it cuts off. So I would just be a nervous that my bad luck would continue.

[00:24:36] But no, I love the ATV ATVs. I love Indiana. Jonathan living out his best life. What's with that hat? Like, where did it come from? Who was with that hat? Where is he packing that hat? You packed that hat, Jonathan? Like, that's why I was like. You wasted space. Right. But, you know, I get it. He wanted a hat. It's a cool hat. Fine. I like them so much. I hope that they know that I'm messing around with them. Anyway, we find out because of the 90 minute episode. Josiah grew up in Honduras, which is his shirt. Hold on. Hold on. Let's.

[00:25:06] Hey, let's clear it away. Okay. Alyssa and Josiah. Brooke, continue what you were saying. That he grew up in Honduras. Okay. And what? The short with the name of his town on the shirt that he is wearing. What am I missing? And he rode ATVs through the jungle. He also talked about and what? Oh, shit. I don't know. His brothers. He talked about his brothers.

[00:25:36] Hey, Josiah. Alyssa. I got frequent flyer miles. Do I need to go to Honduras? We should add it to the tour. We'll go to Tonduras. Add it to the tour. When Josiah said his brothers, I paused it. I said. Okay. So Josiah brothers. Did you like immediately go online and check these brothers? I didn't. Cause I figured I'd save it for the podcast.

[00:26:05] But listen, Alyssa, we one step closer to be a sister-in-laws. Okay. And Alyssa did confirm. Josiah does have a dog. Uh, and she does not talk, but Josiah is a good, uh, dog dad. So listen, we're one step closer. Okay. I could live in Honduras. You're nuts. I'm just saying. They may live in Philadelphia now. You don't know.

[00:26:34] They may visit for Thanksgiving. Alyssa and Josiah. I'm coming for Thanksgiving. Okay. I love that you didn't invite them to you for Thanksgiving. You're like, I'm crashing your Thanksgiving. Oh no. I want to meet the family. I want to make sure I get the family approval. Okay. Okay. Cool. Cool. Okay. So are you done with the personal ad? Should we move on to the next thing? Never done. But I'm just going to make it clear that I said last episode, do you have a brother, an uncle, a dog? And he has a brother.

[00:27:04] Purple Pants Posse were one step closer. You better invite everybody who watches this podcast to the wedding. Okay. Pops and Jeff are adorable. They want to climb all the trees in the jungle. And I love that. Like, I low-key want to watch it. Like, I just think they're so cute. Pops says slow down. Yeah. He is telling his son to slow down, to which I'm saying. Another thing, though, not to spin the block back on Josiah and Alyssa. Uh-huh.

[00:27:33] Why we know that Josiah is a loving, caring king. Did you notice when everybody was going to get their clues, the person on the back jumped off and got the clue? Not Scott. [00:28:01] So I just saying, just when we talk about how great Josiah is, it's just little things like that that I see that Alyssa could have just ran off and got in. Now, Josiah put it in park, got off, and he ran with her. He's so chivalrous. I love them. Everybody needs Josiah. I think that's just facts. Okay. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Also, that cave. How cool. Like, the ride. It was very cool. And then I just wrote, also, Jonathan's hat. That was the entire. That's, I wrote, that's all. Just the hat. Okay.

[00:28:29] So Erica is shocked her and her mom are getting along so well. Honestly, if I did this with my mom, we probably would have murdered each other. But, like, I would have been like her, like, Mom, let's go. Let's go. It depends on who your partner was. Like, I'm the person that someone was like, let's go. And, you know, it all depends. But they're doing great. This was a good Melinda episode. I can't wait to talk more about her later. But she is me and I am her. Whatever. Scott doesn't even get off the ATV because he doesn't want to get wet.

[00:28:54] Carson feels like he's riding a dragon or a broomstick or some other science fiction Harry Potter Game of Thrones-y sort of thing. But he's just riding like this. And I'm like, you're going to catch bugs in that mouth. You need to close your mouth. But they're just having so much fun at one point. They're, like, doing the snake on their ACV. Like, they're just, they're joyful. I very much enjoy watching them. I think their dynamic is, I just, they're perfection.

[00:29:21] Yeah, they're just like, we need music. But, okay. So, wait. That was flight one. That's gone. Okay. So, Bernie and Kerrigan have landed. They're number 10. Bernie is not scared of the ATV speed because Bernie's not scared of anything. Bernie's the best at everything. And she'll tell you that. And I love it. Because, again, you got to hype yourself. So, I think she's great.

[00:29:45] I think the two of them, they, I love their, like, on the, like, side interviews where they're, it's basically just a therapy session where they're just, you know, crying and feeling. And it's just, I really think they are the team probably that has had the most, like, growth as a, like, couple. Not a couple, but, like, as a unit. I feel like they've worked through the most.

[00:30:12] And I actually feel like they've come out the other side like bigger, better people. So, I feel, I'm, I like them a lot. I'm sad they're gone. Okay. Anyway, travel by taxi to the rice field. Driver's seat ahead is what happens next. So, this is where my gripe was with the exception of the one team, Mark and Brad, whose taxi driver took them to the wrong spot. There was no opportunity for changing the order, which is what we just talked about. The Amazing Race producers want to call us.

[00:30:41] We'll walk through the ways to make this challenge that much better for the next time because I can't wait to see it again. Although, shout out to, like, the, like, task designers and producers. This season is rock solid. Loving it. I agree. Mm-hmm. Brett and Mark can't seem to catch a break, though, right? No. Like, it's like, I, at this point, they're my dark horse, right? Because it's like, it can only get up from here, right? Like, it, like, you, you know. What do you think?

[00:31:10] Not too much more bad things can happen to them because it's just like, but that was a question I did want to ask. I know I'm jumping ahead a little bit with Mark and Brad when they got in the car. I believe it's Mark that said that he typed in the right address and the driver then put something else in. Would you say to future Amazing Racers when you are in these taxi cars, like, and you enter something in, triple and double check it? Like, lean it up in the car to make sure the destination says that's where it's at? Or do you feel like that's just a freak accident?

[00:31:39] I, I, I sort of think it was a freak accident, but at the same time, like, yeah, never, never hurts to, like, triple check. But you have to, I mean, at some point, you just have to have faith that what you've typed in, it's not like he told the driver where to go and the driver typed it in. He typed it in. You have to have some sort of faith that what you type in and press start, like, the driver's not going to change it. I feel like that's such a rarity that they just really. For me, though, this has happened to me so many times on Uber Eats and Uber.

[00:32:07] Like, I will type in an address and I'll see it and then I'll click next. But, like, on some of the apps, like, you'll type it in and then I'll auto populate and be like, oh, that's the address I want to go to. But you actually need to, like, click it. Because if you don't, like, click that actual address, it will kind of do something freaky. And I have had to knock on plenty of my neighbor's doors and say, hey, I'm not stealing. Do you have my as-mails? This is Holden's McDonald's. I'm getting it for him. Okay. This is Holden's.

[00:32:37] This is a reason. Shout out to Holden, by the way, who made friends with their taxi driver, calling him by name. Like, that's how they go faster. Okay. So, at the roadblock, it says, who thinks they can rice to the occasion? Love a pun. Totally into it. Jonathan and Anna get to this first.

[00:32:53] And they decide who, because the driver's seat, has to, like, shuck, I don't know what you want to call it, 15, 20, or 25 pounds of rice thingies to make basically 25 pounds of rice. Bill says, it's time to find out who was friends with whom. And I'm like, geez. It's like popularity contest 101. Fine. I said, no. I didn't want to see how Jonathan would act if he got screwed over.

[00:33:20] But I kind of really did want to see how Jonathan would act if he got screwed over. But that didn't happen. And I love them. I'm fine with everything they did here. Although, who's not fine with it? Scott. And we'll talk about that. I'm fine with it, though. Although I know it was a heated decision when they picked the teams and they realized that they didn't assign Bernie and Kerrigan, so they had to do something. Right, right, right. And I am a little upset that after, I really do feel like more decisions should have went into this. I understand the adrenaline's running.

[00:33:47] You're thinking, like, that express pass is burning a hole in their pants, right? One of the worst uses of an express pass. Sorry. Go ahead. Yeah. No, I'm with you. I know that when you get the express pass, do not use it the first time it becomes available. I just know that for Washington. I just know the survivor gods don't, they don't smile upon that, right?

[00:34:11] And so I just felt like at that moment, and they probably couldn't have done anything, but, like, I would have been like, can we switch the time cards? And if they would have said no, then I'm like, let's just stay here and do this. They gave themselves 15 pounds. I mean, honestly, like, I think they looked at this, thought it was harder, looked harder than it actually was, and was like, let's get out of here. But two things. One, you had to do 10 pounds less of rice than half of the other teams. Like, A, you already have an advantage.

[00:34:40] B, you're the only people there. Like, get started. Give it a shot. If it's really super hard, okay, leave, because everyone's then going to have a really hard time with it. They didn't even try, and I think that they could have kept that express pass for later that day when Jonathan needed to pee. Or any other time in the future, our express pass expired after leg five. I don't think this one said anything about expiring because they didn't actually get it into leg leg three. So, anyway.

[00:35:06] My only thing with that is, right, like, if you know that you're in the driver's seat, right, one, automatically, our express pass, we can't use it. Because we're going to piss somebody off. And we know in this season, we are seeing old things come back. We're seeing new things come back. I would save it if, in the event a U-turn happens. Like, that's where I would be at in my mind because, like, we're going to have to piss some people off. But I wasn't mad at them for giving themselves the least amount of work.

[00:35:33] And, obviously, if they were being strategic and knew that they were going to use it up front, the more gracious thing would have been to, like, put the... No, because you want to, like... No, grace garbage. I get it. It's a long, long grace. I get it. Yes, yes. I hear you. Yes, that's fair. I would have given myself the 50, 25 pounds and then at least been able to distribute that 15 pounds. At least then you have an argument to say, guys, like, yeah, we used it, but we gave ourselves 25 pounds. Like, at least you have it right now.

[00:36:01] It does not look good for them. It doesn't. But I do believe that they didn't intend to use the express pass until they actually looked at the task. So I don't think they were... However, on the other hand, once they decided to use the express pass, you think since nobody else was there yet, if they could have gone back and did a swappy swap of the amounts, probably not, but I don't know. We can ask. But on the first... Like, I just... The only issue I have with it is I think they should have taken a minute more and realized, look, there is something to be said for if there's a team in the back,

[00:36:31] if anyone but you to go home is fine, give them the most. It's, like, better them than me. So I get that. I don't think they meant to do that to Brody and Kerrigan. I think they were just like, oh, crap, we have one left. Here, we have to go. Like, we're right out of time. And people are going to be here. I don't think that there was much strategic in them taking the 15 because they thought they were going to do it. However, it comes across, and especially when you have a player like Jonathan, who all the other teams see as super competitive, like, they're going to think you did it on purpose.

[00:36:59] So that just sucks for them because I feel like us as the audience, we got to see them in a cab, like, being like, oh, shoot, you probably shouldn't have done that. But what can you do? Also, I really think Ana could have done it and done it quickly, especially. So I just think it was just, oh, okay. Bigger, please. Okay. Oh, that's all. I'm holding on. Wait, give me a second. [00:37:26] I would like to say, if you're ever lucky enough to get yourself an express pass on The Amazing Race, take a minute. I see this happen a lot where people are like, I got it. Let's use it. I just have to say it first. There will probably, just like there's always a task for you, there will probably be something you can't do. I mean, some people aren't runners and you have to run a lot. Some people have never made a ladle and then you have to make a ladle for a piece of sheet metal and a rusty spoon.

The point I'm making is if you're lucky enough to have an advantage in express pass or otherwise, don't just burn it at the first opportunity so that you can stay this far ahead. This might've been my favorite judge of the season because when everybody got their rice, she is like, hug me. She's literally, I think it's Mark. That's like, okay, thank you. Or so.

[00:38:50] And she's like, no, like you do not leave until I get a hug. She was so cute. I thought the rice weigher was the best person. Because I was thinking like, we haven't had a note in a while. [00:39:17] But I also was cracking up and I know I'm jumping around, but shout out to my girl, Melinda. She was like such a mom in this moment. Like when she got there, she's like, oh, was this the rice thing? They're like, no, that's my old rice. Well, where's the rice? That's my only gripe. This is my only gripe with the roadblock. Where do I have this? I, who, where, something about Melinda. And she's like, is this it? And who was it? Was it, was it Alyssa that said, this is my discarded rice? [00:42:39] Those things, weigh things Han. Like you're being great. Your rice was probably the best rice if you're going to cook it up and eat it. But it doesn't need to be that perfect. I think it took her a little longer than it should have, but whatever. Holden is also a phenomenal cheerleader. And they get out in fourth. Then you have Alyssa, the beast of the season. She is not discouraged by getting 25 pounds. She is a robot. Josiah calls her Wonder Woman. And Josiah says, you're the toughest woman to ever run this race. No lies detected.

[00:43:10] If by this race, you mean season 37 sort of The Amazing Race? Agree. If by this race, you mean any season of The Amazing Race? I might still agree. But you know what, Josiah? Because I do think they're being a bit underestimated. And I'm okay with it. If I was Mark though. I would have threw my shoe in that bag. No. Okay. I would have put my shoe in that bag. And sent it to the man to see if it weighed. Cheating.

[00:50:07] She ultimately does great. She does the 25 pounds. They're in last place. And now we're en route to the detour. Mark tries to get his cab to pass someone else. The driver won't do it. And I say, good for you. You got to ask. You don't get what you don't ask for. And even though they didn't pass, they're still doing great. Because they've jumped two teams. Now. We get to the detour. We have Penjar and Padrigan. I think I probably pronounced both of those wrong. I try. Bryce. Which one of these do you do?

[00:50:33] Do you decorate a long bamboo pole with leaves, flowers, and other stuff to show thanks for the things on earth and carry it to a stand for display? Or do you rely on your memory and purchase offerings from the village and build a pageant. John. One each. And balance it on your head. Go to a temple to offer it to the gods. What do you do? I'm offering my fruit to the gods. Now. Interesting. Although the Files brothers and Hannah Holden got lost a little bit. Like I felt like this challenge.

[00:51:04] If you got directly to the market and you can remember that the apples met the oranges. The oranges had a baby. The baby. They had grapes. The grapes said, oh, no, no, no. Give me a flower. The flower said bloom in six flowers. Right? Like. Because I was like, Holden, where the hell are you going with this story? Because that don't even make no type of sense. I have no words for this. He's like making up this batshit crazy story, mnemonic device thing. He's nuts. I love it.

[00:51:33] He's like beautiful minding it. And it works. There are five muffins and the muffins are this. And they had eight bunches of baby bananas. And so, okay. So for the pageant. For that side. Mike and Nick and Hannah Holden team up again together. Holden's nuts. But in the best way. They're looking for the market and they end up like in people's living rooms. Ridiculous. Here's my problem with this side of the task. I don't know how they haven't been showing money a lot. And so I don't know how much money they give you. But you had to purchase stuff. So like I'm big into conserving your money. So I don't want to do this side.

[00:52:02] But my memory is the thing that I have going for me. So I do want to do this side. So the thing is, this was memorize the ingredients. Find the ingredients. Buy the ingredients. Put the thing together. And then walk it to a place. The other side was put the thing together and walk it to a place. So this one seemed a little bit harder. I think if the market had been right there, maybe. But like it just seemed like that one was harder. But I do give them a ton of credit because they did phenomenally. Where do I? Okay. So Holden has great attention to detail.

[00:52:32] They get a no because their flowers are wrong. But he finds it immediately. They are behind Nick and Mike who get a yes on the first try. Nick and Mike don't know where they're going to drop off the thing because they've left their clue in their backpack. And now their hands are here. And so they can't get to the clue. But whatever. They figure it out. Unfortunately, one of their offerings breaks now. I do not think. Oh, I'm going to say. I do not think that they should have had to put it back together because whose fault is it that the thing broke?

[00:53:03] If you're a person except. Nice. Okay. Because Mike could have helped Nick. Mike could have helped Nick bend down and hand them over. They just standing there. But no. Yeah, I was confused because if Han and Holden weren't right there, I wonder if the lady would have gave them the clue because the lady, she was. She was like, oh, I'm sorry. She was like, I don't know if I should accept this. I think. I think that they shouldn't have had to put it back together.

[00:53:31] But Han and Holden and Nick and Mike do an amazing job. On the other side of the detour, you have Jonathan and Anna. It's hot. He has to pee. I'm like, just go pee. Like if I were Anna, I would have been like, go pee. However, I do think that Anna should have to have stopped working while he went to go pee. Because when we were running through Athens, I had to pee. And I was told, my Scott said, go pee. And I was like, I will pee when I'm dead. I will pee when we finish. You hold that during, while you're running or during it.

[00:54:00] He wouldn't have been able to keep running while I went to go pee. Why was Anna allowed to keep working while he went to go pee? That's a good thing. And also. I think it's a pause button. But also, they should have used their express path here and they would have actually ended up doing it. Right. Now, question. Is this considered uncouth? Say we're partners and we just got here and we're working. And I'm like, I really got to go pee. And you're like, no, we can't. Can I just pee? Can I just urinate on myself? Because that's what I was thinking.

[00:54:30] But maybe I'm saying anything. Who can stop you? But also then you're running around in your own pee for the rest of the day. For a million dollars, I'll do what I have to do. Right. Honestly, I would have been like, just pee on yourself. You want to pee? Just pee. Just pee. Maybe that's the survivor in me, you know. But like, I was thinking like, Jonathan, you have to go pee that bad. Just pee on yourself. Then don't, you don't need to tell anybody. What? [00:56:25] Long time ago. So intoxicated that you think you're peeing in the bathroom, but you're really peeing somewhere else. Like you've gotten out of bed and you think, oh, I'm in the bathroom, but you're not. And by you, I don't mean me. This is not a me thing. This is a long time ago. That. So first of all, my best friend that I brought to your wedding, Dara. Mm-hmm. We went out. It's just out of Dara. Oh, my God. I did. Sorry. Sorry, girl.

[00:56:55] We went out. And mind you, Dara had just had a baby. So this is like one of her first outings out. Like, you know. And of course, we went to Fat Tuesdays. She had two octanes. And she was whatever. She spent the night. Girl, I am waking up. And I am hearing like water hit a bucket. Is she peeing in a plant in the corner or something? She is peeing in my trash can.

[00:57:22] And I wake up and I say, Dara, are you pissing in my trash can? And she says no. And then I'm like, I just go back to sleep. And then to this day, she continuously says that I am making that story up. It's a good thing you didn't share it with a lot of people or anything like that. No. But you asked. But anyway, but just. I didn't ask you to out your best friend. Oh, my God. That's a story I had to tell. But yeah, if I was Jonathan, I would just feed on myself.

[00:57:49] If I had to go that bad and you use your express pass. Your toilet. The bathroom is in your pants. If you use your express pass and you are here. Okay. Also, Scott and Lori. Mm-hmm. When they arrive and Mark and Jonathan and Anna are trying to like test their temperature. Like, hey. Hi. Ah. Scott's on treating Jonathan like a kid who's annoyed him. And so he's ignoring him.

[00:58:18] But they actually start to bicker here. You see a little crack in Scott and Lori. But they get it. She's being. All the other teams are like, ooh, mom and dad are up. They're fighting. They're having a moment. And then you have Carson and Jack who are talking about how Jonathan and Anna wasted the express pass. Why is no one heckling Jonathan and Anna? If I get there and you're still there and you have given me 25 pounds of rice and I have nailed it and I'm right behind you now. I am. I'm being Colin. I'm being.

[00:58:48] I'm getting there and I'm being like, whoo, guess somebody wasted that because we've caught up. That would be so fun to watch. Why do I want to watch everything get underdog? I don't know. But I also want them to win. I also want them to be super successful. But because I just think it'd be there's opportunities for a little bit. Good nature, like ribbing. Like. Look it up. We got you like, oh, that test was so easy. I can't believe you guys skipped it. Like just a little. That test was like an express pass. Yeah. So simple.

[00:59:18] Like, oh, my God. Anything. Anyway, I would have been heckling people. Josiah and Alyssa plan to do the other one, but end up with this one. I think they are all let Jonathan and Anna win the battle. We're going to win the war. I love these two. Even though they don't love arts and crafts, they finish in fourth. Then they have to walk the thing to the place. They end up finishing in sixth. Mark and Brett are being very zen in the moment. They're not freaking out. We get less freaked out. What is this? What did I write?

[00:59:47] Oh, I said we got less freaked out when we were in South Korea. Like maybe it's an Asia thing. Like, but then I thought we were in Vietnam and it was the most stress I've ever been in my life. So maybe it's not an Asia thing. I have no clue. But Mark and Brett do a great job and they sail through it. They're in seventh. Eric and Melinda are very detail oriented. They do a great job. They're in eighth. Jeff and Pops. Yeah. Erica and Melinda did a great job at this task. Jeff and Pops. Watch a little. Do a little. Watch a little. Do a little. Repeat. Come on. Yes. So they're good at detail.

[01:00:16] They finish in seventh, but then they have to walk into their place, which is the harder part, I think, in this thing. And they end up in ninth. And then you have Bernie and Kerrigan who are lost, who are last, who went to the map and Kerrigan speaks up where to go. But then they fight. And I actually really like their post interview session thing. They finally find where they're going. They're last. But but they're they're lost. But others are lost, too. Like everybody is incredibly lost.

[01:00:44] So who wasn't lost? Erica. Melinda. I give Erica all the credit in the world. Yeah. Erica's like, I looked at the map. Now, I was with Melinda. Like, are you sure? Because I would have been like, let's turn here. But shout out to Erica. Yes, I'm sure. I saw where it was. I know where it is. I've got this. Mike and Nick see Mark and Brett running to the pit stop. And they're like, follow us. We know where to go. Everybody's running around like a chicken with their head cut off. Alyssa's and Han's team's doing about faith. Everyone is scrambling.

[01:01:13] I love that this happened to us in Venice. Erica is off on her own. Good for her. She does not care. She takes charge. She stays the course. And four teams run in a huge circle, but not Erica. Anywho, Jonathan and Anna get there first. Their express pass wins them a trip to Croatia and Montenegro. Amazing. Carson and Jack get there second. They talk about how Jonathan and Anna made all the wrong moves today. Scott and Lori are third. Erica and Melinda are fourth.

[01:01:41] Erica is very good at directions and not a follower, which helped them. Alyssa and Josiah are fifth. And they talk a little bit about targeting Scott and Lori in the next episode because they're like, we see through you. You're not as weak as you may say you are. And we see it. Han and Holden are sixth. Brett and Mark are seventh. Mike and Nick are eighth. Jeff and Pops are ninth. And they all get to the mat together. Okay. Bernie and Karen gets the mat. There's a puppy there.

[01:02:11] And I really like seeing like their realness. Next week. It looks like we have a live U-term vote. And I think Scott and Lori might be in trouble. And Jonathan feels the heat. So we'll see what happens. I am excited. There are notes all over the hotel room floor. Worth it. And come on, Jeff. Come on, Jeff.
