Recap, Brooke and I are back, and baby, Amazing Race is heating up. It's a lot going on. It's tensions flying. And baby, somebody's junk in the harness is squeezing a little too tight.
[00:01:22] This is so much more. Let's get in to this week's Pit Stop. Pit Stop. Pit, Pit, Pit Stop. It's a Pit Stop. Pit, Pit, Pit Stop. It's a Pit Stop. Pit, Pit, Pit Stop. Pit, Pit, Pit, Stop. Pit, Pit, Stop. Pit, Stop. Pit, Stop. And we are back with your Purple Pants Podcast, Pit Stop Summer Rewatch of Amazing Race Season 29.
[00:01:51] We are recapping episode 2 this week, and we are super excited to have the contestant from Amazing Race Season 29, Ms. Brooke Camhigh with us as always. How are you doing? Hello from the contestant. What do you keep calling me that? It's cracking me up. As if you don't know how it ends. Well, there might be a listener that is watching for the first time.
[00:02:14] And so, yeah, I want to keep it respectful as we are re-watching the fun of Amazing Race Season 29. You say fun, I say PTSD, but either way, it's fine. I will do a little teaser. I've spoken to some other contestants from Season 29. We'll be having some special guests pop in for some recap episodes. I'm still working out with a few of them.
[00:02:43] Dates, times, all of that. But we definitely have a handful already confirmed, and I'm excited. Because I'll be getting to catch up with some of them for the first time in a little while as well. So, I'm psyched. I hope you're psyched. I hope everyone listening is psyched. I have poured myself the beverage, which is the way that I can get to these. Listen, do what you guys to do.
[00:03:07] I am, you know, your glass definitely looked half full as, I don't know. Yeah, I'm definitely a half full glass kind of person. I call myself a realist. God will call me a pessimist. I hope for the best, but expect the worst. And if anything better than that happens, then it is a win. Yeah, I mean, we're only two episodes in, which feels like three because we did a cast assessment.
[00:03:35] But, like, I've already shifted. I've got a new favorite team I'm rooting for via this episode. And, ooh. I can't wait to hear who it is. Who is it? Do you want to know? Yeah. It is Vlank and Ashton. I am. You're going to get it. I know you're going to get it. You said Vank. Yeah, like Vank the Tank. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I keep saying them.
[00:04:01] I say, like, Vank like blank, but Vank the Tank. I love Vank and Ashton. Well, I mean, I love Vank. I'm starting to warm up to Ashton. I like their dynamic of, like, not really knowing each other and trying to, like, figure it out. I, that of this episode was really, really great. I love the movement. I was like, yes. I love a movement. Obviously, I got to cuss out. Okay. We already know who I gots to cuss out.
[00:04:31] But we can get to that when we get to that. The only other. Oh, not you. Oh. Not you. We'll let you live. You had a broken sum, girl. But again, with the thing that I love the most about these rewatches, right? Is that, like, I feel like I know you, but no one can know anyone, like, 100%. However, it's like, you really are you. Like, these are like, like, you really are. Like, it's not the full version of yourself, but like, I definitely.
[00:05:00] Because they took out a lot of my happy. So I will say, I joke around about it. Editing is real. Like, they used to have on YouTube behind the scenes clips, which they don't do anymore, which they should do. And I would get message after message from people being like, oh, my God, look, she was having fun here. She liked this. And I'm like, yeah, it wasn't all one-sided. I did have some fun. But it is me. It's me. Like, even still, right? Like, even when you're not whatever, whatever. Like, I still see the happy.
[00:05:30] Like, I still, like, for me, again, I know we're jumping all over the place because I have another comment that I want to say that I don't like. But even when you fell and you hurt yourself, right? Like, you know, you was like, get away from me. But let's keep going. Like, you push through. Like, now, did you talk about it every six seconds? Yes. Yes. But, like, you know. You push through. I'm just saying. I'm just saying. There's some repeat. It's funny because we'll talk about it when we get there. But you know what Franken editing is.
[00:05:57] And so it's like when they take something from after and put it before to make it look like it happened before something else happened. And you can see me holding my arm and having a conversation with Scott before I fall on the show. So it's pretty funny where I'm like, I'm crying here because I've fallen. But they make it look like I'm crying because I'm unstable. So anyway. You were crying because you were hurt. But, like, you pushed through it. And so I was like, look at Brooke.
[00:06:22] But also the other thing that I did not like about this episode, and I don't like it's about old or new seasons of The Maze of Race. I hate when in the first six minutes I know who's going home. Right? Like, where there's just, like, I feel like there's not much a team can do. Although in this episode, I had hope. I had hope. I think my hero of the episode is Sarah. Sarah, I think, is my episode hero. Wait, who's Sarah's partner?
[00:06:52] That's Shamir's partner. And she kept her cool. She was smart enough to be strategic. She, I think when it got home, she wasn't thinking on her feet really quickly. I didn't like that, but I liked that, but I liked that. You gotta do what you gotta do, right? I mean, listen, yeah, there's a couple of moments in this race that I was like, I don't know if I liked it. But for The Amazing Race, you gotta do what you gotta do. Exactly. Okay, so should we jump into it? And we'll talk about things when we get there.
[00:07:21] Okay, so episode two, here we go. It's funny because I had to go back and look at the standings from episode one because they are cramming so much into these episodes that we don't even get start times. We don't get starting order. We there just forget that. We don't even need to deal with it. But the order, not that it really matters because we all end up at a travel agency together like five minutes in.
[00:07:44] It's Seth and Olive, then Becca and Floyd, Matt and Redmond, Brooke and Scott, Shamir and Sarah, who jumped from the second flight to the first group last episode. Tara and Joey, Vank and Ashton, London and Logan, Jesse and Franny, and Liz and Mike. And I only bring this up because Liz and Mike had one of the, I actually think. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong because there have been a couple seasons with 12, 13, 14 teams.
[00:08:09] But Liz and Mike, I believe, had the biggest jump in Amazing Race history from last place to first place because there were still so many teams left. So good on them. They were fantastic. Also, kudos to my girl Brooke and that travel agency because I heard, I heard a Miss Brooke Kim Haas say to the travel agency, bitch, put me on standby. I said, ah!
[00:08:40] I actually think that we were supposed to be on one flight. Our girl was great. So, okay. So we said goodbye to Kevin and Jen, unfortunately. And we're cramming a ton into this episode. We have to fly to Sao Paulo, Brazil, but first go to this travel agency. And they cut to the madness. This was not even, they didn't even show it properly. I remember this being like, everyone was like, who can we talk to and how come? And they put us, we're on six flights. That very rarely happens.
[00:09:07] It is 10 teams on six flights. So this is a little bit where luck comes in because you have someone like Shamir's agent who was typing like this. And they were, got in there early and he speaks Spanish and they were moving and grooving. And then they have someone like Brooke and Scott's agent who was like a little bit faster. So on flight one, you have Bank and Ashton and Matt and Redman. On flight two, Seth and Olive, Brooke and Scott, Shamir and Sarah.
[00:09:36] On flight three, Liz and Mike. On flight four, London and Logan. On flight five, Becca and Floyd and Joey and Tara. And on flight six, all by their lonesome, unfortunately, you have Franny and Jessie. So lots of flights and lots of room for movement with delays and this and that and the other thing. There were so many lead changes this episode. And you know, I love, love, love a lead change. So you get off flight and you have to head to this helipad and sign up for a flight on a helicopter.
[00:10:06] And we were there for a lot of hours. Like it wasn't sign up and go. I think it was sort of waiting overnight until very, very. Oh, wow. Morning. I mean, we got there like middle of the night. So it wasn't like a full 12 hour waiting. But the race was live at that point and everyone was talking. And Ashton was not happy and making it known to everybody that Matt and Redman broke this promise. And mind you, here's a. Put your sleep on this promise. So, okay. Right. I think it's stupid. Yeah.
[00:10:36] But again, make friends with the people that are in. If you guys are in. If you are in the lead with another team, make a friend. However, if I were to get there and they're not there, I'm not waiting. But the thing about it is, is that my girl Ashton, she said multiple times throughout this episode, I hold a grudge. And it was like, I wish like Matt and Redman would have been like, well, we were here for 30 minutes.
[00:11:02] And like, you know, they kind of just were like, oh, we didn't expect you to do it either. So why make that deal? Right. Like, so I'm not mad that they just signed up. But I am mad that like, why even agree? Right. Because now it's like, now you have an enemy. And now I'm not rooting for y'all, even though I want to root for y'all. But now I'm rooting for Vank and Ashton a lot more.
[00:11:29] The first moment I think we saw in this episode where Vank and Ashton sort of get more on the same page is where Ashton's like, I hold a grudge. And Vank's like, we'll come back. Like, they just got a little like sneaky together. And I loved that. You know, I love him. So I loved that. So anyway, Matt and Redmond do not honor this coin flip agreement where they agree to flip coin to see who gets to go first. Although honestly, part of me is like, yeah, why make that deal in the first place?
[00:11:54] But then part of me is like, if you know you're in the front, like if somebody else had shown up, these were at regular intervals. This wasn't like they were waiting and they could have kept racing. You had to stay there until it was time for the first flight. So part of me would have thought, wait for them to get there. If somebody else showed up before them, then obviously you sign up because you don't have an agreement with anybody. But they did what they did and I'm fine with it. I probably would have done the exact same thing. So I'm not mad. But like, I feel like it's going to catch you up in the back end.
[00:12:23] But I also feel like why not just flip a coin right then and there when you make the agreement? Oh, like at the before you get it. Right. So it's like so if you get there first and I like I get heads, then you wait for me unless another team comes. Like, I just felt like why not do that? Whatever. They flip the coin before they get in cabs. Matt and Redmond get there first. They're taking that spot anyway. And I'm not blaming them. Even one percent. So Matt and Redmond get on the first helicopter. Vank and Ashton are on the second.
[00:12:52] And then you hear about it more and you're going to hear about it more. And then you're going to hear about it next episode because it comes back around next episode. Shamir and Sarah get on the third. Seth and Oliver fourth. Brooke and Scott are fifth. First time in a helicopter. Loved it. It was so cool. Liz and Mike are sixth. London and Logan. Then Becca and Floyd who snap a selfie with their cab driver. Well, I will say foreshadowing here because they make friends with a lot of cab drivers and there will be a point in the future.
[00:13:19] And I'm not going to say any more than this, that being friends with your cab driver came back to save them. And then you have Tara and Joey and finally Jesse and Franny, but they're not even there when the sun comes up and people start going. I don't even remember seeing them at the heliport before we left and we left fifth. So, oh, they were, they were way behind. So good on them for catching up the way they did, which also shows how long Shamir sort of was.
[00:13:49] He was in pain. I mean, I don't know what he felt. I mean, listen. He seemed in a lot of pain. I mean, I don't have the same parts, so I don't know. I can't speak to it. I will say just keep moving, even if you're moving slowly, but whatever. Okay. Anyway, you get to, I don't know where you're going. And then you get to the detour clue, which says keep the beat or work your feet. Now, keep the beat is you have to play these two instruments.
[00:14:18] It's like bell thingy and this drum with a band to get your next clue as they play the samba. I would have thought you were going to do that. I was like, in my mind. I wanted to do that. Obviously, I want to do that. I don't go to the gym. I don't want to go to the gym. I don't want to build a gym. But alas, that's what we did because there was a little note that said only a limited number of teams can do like this.
[00:14:42] We knew that we were five and I assumed that everybody in front of us is going to do the easy music one and not the brute force one. But if I'd taken the time to think about it, I guess there were some brute force people in front of us. So we went to go find the gym and the puppies that were living in the gym, which I actually really liked, but I didn't let them distract me. So when I'm racing, I'm racing. Shamir and Sarah, Becca and Floyd, London and Logan and Liz and Mike all go to keep the beat.
[00:15:11] We could have because more teams go to work your feet, which was Matt and Redmond, Bank and Ashton, Brooke and Scott, Tara and Joey and Seth and Olive. So with the work your feet, you have to build this gym out of God knows what and God knows where with God knows who. So Matt and Redmond power through this because for them, it is absolutely nothing. And at the same time, Shamir and Sarah go to keep the beat and Bank and Ashton are going to the gym.
[00:15:41] And Matt and Redmond ask for a check at the gym. And then they realize that they don't get it. And they realize there's something little that's missing. And this big drum has to have a little tiny bit of water in it, which they figure out very, very quickly. And they are out of there fast. Like these guys are ahead this time. Nobody really sees them. I mean, we see them at the repelling down because things go wrong, but they're really ahead at this point.
[00:16:08] Liz and Mike, who are band geeks, self-proclaimed, go right to keep the beat. And I'm so jealous. I too am a band geek. I too was a chorus nerd. I'm a musical theater dork. I have all of that. And so, you know, you don't get to see what the other side of a detour is until it airs unless you go and see what it is. So you switch. So when I got to see this, I was like, oh, this is fun. They've got cool outfits, shaking stuff. They're dancing around. Like I would have had fun.
[00:16:37] Like Floyd had fun where he was like in his element, loving every second of it. But alas. It didn't appear that hard though. When they said choreo, when they said like do a choreo, I'm thinking like, I mean, all people just shake, shake, shake, shake. You just had to stop. And you just had to boom, boom, boom. But I'm not an even detour. Where, where, where, where's the dancing? I thought they would have to like do something.
[00:17:03] There was a very specific way that you had to like hold the shaky thing. But what next? And stop it. Right. If you have rhythm, you're fine. So whatever. So we, team Perkinscott are on their way to build a gym because that's the logical thing for Brooke to do. And here's the thing. I am coordinated. I played sports. I danced, you know, musical theater, but I'm clumsy as hell.
[00:17:31] And so I will maintain there was a crack in that sidewalk. I did not trip over my own two feet, but I did trip and I did land right on an elbow. I have broken both of my elbows. So previously I landed and you know, when you land like right on that bone where you're like, Ooh, it feels a lot worse than it probably is and whatever. But if, I mean, I had crushed one of these playing basketball and when I was in sleep away camp and the other one in a freak trampoline accident, which we can get into it another time. I was at a resort with my parents when I was young.
[00:18:01] I was like 12 and, um, I was jumping on a trampoline and I had my hotel key in my pocket and there was a little hole in the trampoline. I couldn't find my key. So I was convinced it fell through the trampoline when I was jumping on it. So I crawled under to find it. And some person who didn't know I was under there jumped on the trampoline and crushed my elbow. And it was set by this lovely Mexican doctor. Thank you, sir. Anyway, landed on it. And I was convinced. I was like, Oh shoot. Like, I don't want to stop doing this anymore.
[00:18:31] So I was holding my elbow. It did get, it was very sore. And I will give all the credit in the world. So the cameraman who stopped filming and said, are you okay? Do we need to stop? And I was like, there's no world in which we stop. We stop when we're dead. I will complain, but I'll complain why I keep moving. So this is what happened. And then you see the episode where I'm crying and I'm holding my arm and I haven't fallen yet.
[00:18:56] So the others can do whatever they want, but I didn't cry all the time without reason. Did it end up being fractured or just sore? No, it was just bruised. It had, I had like a bruise from it, but you know, between all the things that happened to me, I had fingers taped together. I had bruises here. I had a bite from some mosquito like animal that made my arms swell. I mean, I am a mess by the time this thing gets into the later stages, but who cares?
[00:19:25] Because you're living your dreams. So, okay. So Matt and Redman are first. They've gotten their clue and they are heading to the roadblock. You have to find this woman on a bicycle at the Avenida Polista. And I love this. I like that the clue is moving. So where one person finds it, it's not going to be where somebody else finds it. I think that's great. Meanwhile, Jesse and Franny finally land. They're in their helicopter. They're moving along to get where they need to go.
[00:19:56] Anything good? You're? No, no, no, I'm good. Are you at the point where you want to curse somebody out yet or we haven't got it? Not yet. We know where the curse out is coming out. Well, I want to assist and curse out, but go on. Just one other side note. This episode is called Scared Spitless. I do not. I mean, because Liz said it. How is the episode not called Pain is Temporary, Elimination is Forever? How did I not get an episode title out of this? Because that was just off the top of my head.
[00:20:22] Didn't even know that I said it at the time, but I was like, oh, that's right, though. Girl, cancel both of them. The title should have been The Pain in My Groin, The Groin in the Loin, The Tight in the... That should have been the episode. My testicles have ruptured. That should have been the episode. My testicles have ruptured. All right. I would take a back seat to my testicles have ruptured. That's funny. Fine. So, Bank and Ashton get their water in their bucket. They're in second place. Seth and Olive get the water in the bucket. They're in third.
[00:20:52] Tara and Joey are in the back of a cab that's going so slowly. And go ahead. Seth. Mm-hmm. Mind you, again, happy Pride Month. I didn't know Seth was part of the community. But in the middle of the thing, if Seth goes to wash his hands... No, he went to get his gloves. He went to get gloves. Seth-a-ree. I have no problem with this. Seth-ree. Because there'll come a time where I go to get gloves. So, I... I mean, I'm not mad.
[00:21:21] But I was just like, if you don't get your hands a little greasy... I mean, look, you don't want to get blisters. Because God knows what you're going to have to do next. And if you rip... True. Like, if you rip some skin on your hand. And then you have to do some grip strength something. Then you get the gloves. Yeah, I'm for it. I appreciate what he did. Meanwhile, whatever. I'm a mess. We show up. Who cares? But I like when Bank and Ashton leave. And they're on the car. I like the fact that they're like...
[00:21:51] Well, at least we have something in common. We're detail-oriented. I'm like, okay. Sign me up. I'm locked and loaded with them. I actually think they're a great team. I mean, I know that, like, they're very different. But they really have some complimentary. And there's a moment that you'll see later that you will just... There'll be tears. Like, it's heartwarming. It's all good. I think they turned out to be a good team together as much as their polar opposites. So, anyway.
[00:22:19] London and Logan, Liz and Mike, and Shamir and Sarah are all at the music challenge. Shamir. Thanks for Shamir. Honestly. Shout out to Shamir. Because as much as I... They showed me complaining. I was about to say, girl. He made me look better. I was going to say, if there was no Shamir, the episode... Like, all of the... All of the... Would have been on you. So, I feel like Shamir saved you a lot. Thank you. Because he was like, my thumb, my nail. I'm like, bro, all you doing is...
[00:22:49] Like, wait, wait. At least I felt. But, again, the episode starts off with us seeing Shamir in the travel agency. And, like, he's getting like, oh, she's tripping so slow. Now, mind you, that's me. Like, I mean... Oh, it's me too. Mm-hmm. I wouldn't have said it to the lady. Like, right there. I would have, like, walked away. But we see him kind of, like, for no reason. And, like, it only grows and grows and grows and grows.
[00:23:18] And it does not, like... It literally gets to the point where I gotta cuss him out twice this episode. I really like Shamir. I think he's a great person. I like him a lot. I think that... And I know that editing is a thing. But, like, when he came into that pit stop, he was vibrating. So, like, it wasn't like it's over. He did not... There was no moving on. Like, yeah. That's all I'll say about it on the thing.
[00:23:46] But his hand is all raw from banging the drum. But they get it in fourth place. And they are moving on to find the roadblock. Jesse and Franny land. And they are headed to keep the beat also. Watching it back, I'm like, oh, we could have done that. There was space for us to go do that. But whatever. Whatever. Liz and Mike get their clue in fifth. Band Geeks Unite. And then Logan and London get the no. So, they have to do it again. But honestly, shout out to London. Because she's like, no. Okay, let's do it again.
[00:24:14] Like, she's so like upbeat. Yeah. Infectious positivity is just... Love her. I'm crying. Tara and Joey show up to the gym. And Becca and Floyd get the music. And they are just... This, you know, there's a task for everybody. Yes. This is for Floyd. Like, he is a drum major. He was in charge of, like, the UC Boulder marching band. He was their drum major. So, he's like, this is it for me. I found my task.
[00:24:42] They have the time of their life doing it. And you could just tell. Like, they're just... Yeah. Team fun. There, I would say, there are two moments in the entire season where they're not having fun. This is not one of them. I wouldn't be able to tell. They look... You'll be able to tell. They're exciting. And again, their joy kind of just makes me want to watch them. Right? And just root for them. So, I... I mean, I see why they came back. They're just...
[00:25:11] And they're good people. Like, it's just... I like when good people have good things and happen to them and blah, blah, blah. Okay. So, Matt and Redman are headed to the roadblock. But they get dropped off in the wrong spot. And this is where things start to go a little bit wishy-washy for them. Because Bank and Ashton find the bicycle lady first. And they are currently in first place and get the robot clue who says, Who likes things squeaky clean? Now, Brooke does. I like to clean. I'm not afraid of heights. But you have to rappel down. From a building. And wash this window.
[00:25:41] Like, I would have loved to do this. And you're going to make fun of me. Because we made a cardinal mistake when the time comes. But... And I was dramatic. But not as dramatic as Shamir. So, then can Ashton get there? And Ashton decides she's going to do this roadblock. At this point, London and Logan have gotten their clue from the band. Becca and Floyd get it, I think, on the first try. And they're in seventh place. And then it cuts back to Brooke and Scott, who are back under the overpass at the gym. And we get...
[00:26:10] I mean, I'm going to give myself a little credit. Because my arm was really hurting. And I was like, I'll just do everything with the other arm. I'm cranking up the refrigerator. I'm carrying what I can. You do what you can. And I will say thank you to the editors. Because they did show. I was very grateful to Scott. And I was like, look, he picked up the slack. That's a good teammate. Thank you. Thank you. So we're in eighth. And then we cut back to the roadblock where Ashton is there. And Liz and Mike have shown up. Liz is so good at this.
[00:26:38] She just like scurries to the top, scurries down the side. And it's like, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop. So fast. And this is really what took them from last place to first place. But Liz and Mike... Liz and Ashton get it pretty much at the same time. And it is a foot race to the pit stop. Right? And while they are foot racing, Matt and Redman have shown up. And Redman jumps over the edge. He's like, bye. Like, does not care at all. Seth and Olive show up. Seth does.
[00:27:08] And he's repelled before. He has no issues. Tara and Joey get their clue at the gym. They're in ninth. But there's really no danger at this point. Because Jesse and Franny are... They haven't gotten anywhere yet. And Shamir and Sarah and Brooke and Scott both show up at the roadblock. Shamir decides to do it. And what could possibly be the biggest mistake ever made on this season? The Amazing Race. And Brooke and Scott break a cardinal rule that I yell at people for every season when we are doing this podcast. We did not look up. We did not look around.
[00:27:38] Now, I don't know, given the fact that, like, my arm... I have, like, a dead arm for basically the rest of the day. I don't know that I could have done it. Because apparently, like, with the moving and the squeegee and everything, apparently there was a lot of caked on dirt. But we didn't look up. And Scott's like, I'll do it. I'll do it. And then we look up. He is ready to murder me. Like, this is not even, like, I'm going to kill you. Ha ha. Like, daggers from his eyes. He has his biggest fear in the world.
[00:28:06] I was going to do all the heights challenges because I got no problem with it. He ends up doing every heights challenge because that's just the way things worked out. So, I decided when Scott goes up, I am going to yell the most ridiculous things. Tell him how good his butt looks. I'm just going to, like, cheer as loud as I can to make him laugh. It did not work. Yeah. So mad at me. I was thinking, like, I wonder if he can hear her. Because I'm going to need her to... He can hear me. I'm going to need her to be quiet.
[00:28:34] Because I actually got a little emotional because, again... Oh, I felt for him. Up until this point, we see Scott, like, not picking up your slack, but supporting you, moving the refrigerator. Like, we see him doing a lot of stuff. And then when he got in that elevator and was like, this is one of my biggest... I was like, oh! Like, I felt it. And, like, I was like, oh! And when he started... He's like, I'm going to go.
[00:29:04] Slow. I said, listen. I was like, baby, take your time. Take your time. And the thing that was pissing me off in this challenge or this roadblock was... And mind you, I'm not there. I'm just... I'm 20 years later sitting, laying on my bed, naked with my feet up, watching this. Is that I would... Like, I don't know. I just... I like to be naked when I'm home. Sure. Sure.
[00:29:35] But I need to, like, remember to, like, put clothes on. Like, if I got, like, an Uber Eats delivery, like, I'll just, like... And I'll say, it's here. I'll go right to the door. Oh! When your shrimp shows up. When your shrimp shows up, you got to put on... I remember you talking about shrimp. Maybe I wear harnesses that hurt. Okay. What I was mad at was... Why are y'all going all the way down? Like, I think that I would, like... You had to. You could not go back up. It was not physically possible. No. I know.
[00:30:04] What I'm saying is... When you get to that mirror... When you get to the window, why are you... I would stay right in the middle. Like, I would find a... Like, that... And mind you, that's just the way maybe my mind works. But, like, I would try to be in a spot that I could go up and, like, get... Because for that very reason... Because, mind you, I clean windows. I'm squeaky stuff. Like, I was just thinking that. And, uh... I think it was Seth when he had to go do it again. I was like, what are you doing?
[00:30:34] So, Scott had to go... Several people... I think there were only one or two people who didn't have to go down and go back up. So, when Scott got down the first time, I was like, you're doing great. Keep it going. He's like, no. And I had Floyd next to me. I was like, Floyd, can you help a girl out? And he's like, yeah. We're all cheering. I'm like this. I'm like, yeah. And I had everybody screaming for him. I don't know how much of it, like, I was watching. I don't remember how much of it they showed.
[00:31:00] But, like, I had everybody down there being like, Scott, you look so good. Shake that booty. Like, we were just trying to find ways to make him... He wouldn't. But when he got it, he came down. He's like, I did it. And I was like, you're so great. And his whole demeanor changed, which was good. Because he was scared. I mean, it's scary. If you have a fear of heights, that's like a real... And to conquer it, it's good for him. That's true. You've got a fear of spiders. I was at a birthday party the other day at the zoo.
[00:31:30] And the grandfather of the birthday boy, like, he has a fear of snakes. Right? But I didn't, like, think it was like... And so, at the zoo, they brought out, like, animals and stuff. And they brought, like, a snake out. But it was, like, outside. So, I went inside. And I was like, they bringing a snake to y'all. He was like, I was like, I felt so bad.
[00:31:58] I was like, I didn't know it was that serious. I was like... So, yeah. Anything. I get that. If they're bringing a spider toward me, I'm leaving the zoo. I am not there for it. I don't care if it's in a behind glass. I don't trust that glass. I don't... Mm-mm. But good for... I mean, he did it. It took a little bit to get him up there. But, like, all the credit in the world to Scott. And then Tara being like, I thought you had a fear of heights.
[00:32:27] Like, don't bring it up to him. What? Good job. Shush, shush, shush. Shush. She did great. Everyone's sort of, like, going through it. Unless you were Shamir, who has decided that this is dangerous for his man bits. And he calls for medical. Which I'm not going to judge. Because, again, I don't have those bits. So, I can't speak to that feeling. I've been in a harness for a multitude of things for... I don't even know.
[00:32:57] For repelling. Mm-hmm. For ziplining. Ziplining. Like, yes, it does get a little tight. But, like, it also is up to... And this is also what I was, like, hearing and thinking as I'm watching this. Because I'm like... At first, I'm like, okay, this is a real thing. Like, I get that, right? Because they hurt. They hurt. It hurt. But then when... Like, who's his partner? It's Sarah, right? Yeah. When Sarah is, like, down there.
[00:33:26] And she's telling people, like, he's worried about how he's going to look. So... And I, like... And so then I started thinking, like... Again, I paused the episode. And I went in my videos. Because I'm like, when's the last time I had a harness on? I'm like, oh, when I was in Mexico. I went ziplining. I, like, went to my ziplining video. Because, of course, you know me. I set my phone up. And so... And I'm like, just adjust. Like, you might have to physically, like... Take it out of the underwear. You might have to, like...
[00:33:56] Depending on how it's swaying. If it's shriveled. You might have to fold it up. But, like... But I'm like, do something. But, like... I... Throw it over your shoulder. I mean, I'm a little... Like a continental soldier. Uh-huh. But when he's like, I think it's ruptured. Now, that's when I was like, oh, okay. Now, that's... Now, but that is serious. And then when you go in there... And also, like, if something's ruptured, you're probably falling over, I'm guessing. Like, how are you walking? I don't know. First of all, I would have said, let me check. I'll check. Let me... Let me check. Okay.
[00:34:25] First of all, I would have been... I would have volunteered... To be on medical. To, like, know. Because this is the type of amazing race partner I would have been. I would have volunteered to adjust it. Okay. If it's giving you that much of a problem... Let me go... I mean, let me move it around. But... I would have looked... Oh, my God. Just a little show. But, like, again...
[00:34:54] And, again, I don't know what he was going through, but it just seemed like this macho, macho... Even when, like, you can even see when, like, the cameras are coming over, and he's like, shut the door. Like, sir. Sir. I mean, if you're gonna pull your... I get it. No, go ahead. But they're not gonna show it. Like, stop it, sir. Like, be serious. And if your balls have ruptured, the last thing you're... You wouldn't even be shutting the door.
[00:35:24] And that... And the thing that, again, that pissed me off the most with Shamar, and again, like, here, listen. You got... Brooklyn broke her funny bone. She's still doing it. Scott is propelling down. My thing is... When... First of all, I love how they call... What's her name? Francesca and... I love how now they're sisters, right? Like, I love, like, the sisters.
[00:35:52] When the sisters arrive, and Sarah is like, they're here, and this mofo is on a smoke break? On his 15 minutes? Like, that's when I was like, oh, okay. This is why I think she's a hero. Because she's like, could you at least just go up to the top? Like, because this is... There are moments, and I know there are moments that Scott... One in particular moment that Scott was like, there's nothing you can do. When your partner's doing a roadblock, you can't switch out.
[00:36:22] And so, like, for her, it's the second leg. They were doing so well. They were in fourth place. They were doing fine. And, like, people keep passing, and people keep passing. And I get it, you need to go to the ambulance. I get it. But if you're just standing down on the ground, and another team shows up, the team that you know was the last team shows up, all she can do... And, you know, Sarah had the forethought to know, like, I can't yell at him. I can't be too pushy. That's not going to get anywhere with these two personality types. Like, just please go up.
[00:36:51] And, like, and he did, and he kept moving eventually. And, but, like, we glossed over the worst part. When he first got uncomfortable, dude broke a window. He punched a window and shattered it. How about that? Yeah, the legal came by. Uh-huh. Talking about... Broke a window? How strong are you, man? Like, wow. It legitimately was cracked. My panties got a little moist at that point in time.
[00:37:21] Like, so wait, legal really came? I mean, afterwards to make sure everything was fine. But, like, he broke a window. Like, you... He destroyed some property. He doing the most. And, again, I was mad at Sarah for lying to the sisters. But also, it's like... I was not. I mean, I was mad as a viewer watching, right? Because I was mad because I was rooting for the sisters. And I'm like, they're so nice, they don't deserve it. However, Sarah is in... Survival mode. Reservation mode. Yes.
[00:37:51] Right? Like, if she didn't do that, she could potentially be going home. I mean, probably. Franny's a paratrooper. She jumped right off the edge of that building. She was ready to go. They did not finish that far behind. They were so far behind. And they caught up so much because of the situation with Shamir. So, anyway, let's just... Liz gets in first. Action gets in second. There's sort of a race. One team runs. One team takes the cab. And we have...
[00:38:20] Doop, doop, doop. We have... Oh, my God. Liz and Mike come in first place. They went a trip to Barbados. Liz took that trip. And because they only give you... Wait, only wanted a person? Well, no. They give you a trip for two. They don't know each other. What they're going to... One guy's going to leave his wife and the other... I mean... They... She... That trip went to Liz. And then Bank and Ashton come in second. And they're just, as expected, happy to be ahead of Matt and Redmond. Yes. Because... And Bank is 120% thrilled.
[00:38:50] I love it. I love it. He goes... Not that that's logically false. Like, I just... I enjoy him so much. He's just weird and wonderful and great. And just... I'm such a fan. So, anyway... Blah, blah, blah. Brockman and Zach get there. Third. Sorry, who? What's a Brockman? Oh, Redmond? Oh, Redmond and... I can't. I can't. I have no words for you.
[00:39:20] Matt and Redmond. Now, there's a Brockman and Zach. Brock and Zach. Oh, okay. When Redmond and Matt got there, they was mad that they wasn't in second so that, like, he could do the leg joke. Now, my... Red makes his second of maybe three million leg jokes that we made over the course of this. Now, mind you, during the time that I'm watching this, nude on the bed with my legs up, like, I'm like, get back to Shamar, right? Like, because I get...
[00:39:48] But also, like, after I processed it, I was like, okay, that is kind of funny. I mean, he's so... He's just wholesome and wonderful. So, Matt and Redmond are in third. Shamir is now in the ambulance. Seth and Olive get to the pit stop in fourth. And then Scott gets his clue. His whole demeanor is amazing, but it's like, Scott, Becca, Logan, Tara, all right together. Reminded me.
[00:40:18] Brooke, you pissed me off at the pit stop. I did. And I would dare to say you might have pissed Scott off. I'm not as fast. No, it's not that you are as fast. Mind you, you're doing too... You're doing something good, right? You're helping Becca and Lloyd. You are making a connection. Yep. It's the second episode. Give me a break. You are not like... I know.
[00:40:45] But you are not like Brockman and Zach, right? So you are keeping your word. But the podcaster in me was like, girl, all you had to say to Lloyd and Becca, aka Floyd, was it's over here. Let's go. But you being such an amazing and nice person. What did I do? You were like, come on. And like, you were like, telling them to come and waiting for them. And like, you were being happy. I wasn't waiting. I'm just that slow. I was not waiting.
[00:41:15] And I think we both... Scott and Bolt were like, it's this way. And like, yes, I probably should have waited until I was there and be like, it's over here. Like, sure. Fine. But you were being nice and making connections. And so hopefully, we will see if it pays off. But for two seconds, I said, girl, get your ass. You can yell to them that it's over here. With one arm. My arm is like... Girl, you in this arm. And mind you, oh, you also cracked me up.
[00:41:43] And I also didn't know... I didn't know you were left-handed. I'm left-handed too. I am left-handed. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And also throughout the episode, I don't know who said it, but someone... It was Shamir. It was Shamir. Because I said, thank God I'm left-handed because I'm cranking the crank of the fridge with my left hand. Shamir was sitting back in the cab and being like, well, it's a good thing I'm not left-handed. And I'm like, this is hilarious. They just... I'm like, I don't know what editor did that. They had fun.
[00:42:13] I thought it was fun. So anyway, we all run together or most of us run together. Tara and Joey take a cab, which is kind of funny because they don't get there before Beck and Floyd and Brooke and Scott. So anyway, Shamir is told that he can continue and Franny and Jesse show up and Sarah sends them the wrong way. We talked about this. I am for this. You got to do what you got to do. She wasn't mean about it. She's like, the lady's going around. You see that red light? That way. As the lady drives past them. I mean, a little bit of this
[00:42:42] is on Jesse and Franny. I'm not mad. I'm not playing on a bicycle that's right here in a red and yellow scarf. Whatever. So Beck and Floyd are fifth. Brooke and Scott are sixth. Tara and Joey are seventh. London and Logan are eighth. We're all on the mat together. We have like a great moment of camaraderie and it's all wonderful. And then Shamir is told that he has to go down and do it again for his fifth time. Like, I do feel that you badly you had to go do this five times. But Franny gets up there and she is like,
[00:43:12] no nonsense. And I think she only had to do it one or two. Yeah. From the edit and she had to do it twice. But also it's like, again, for me, it's just like you could tell and I'm sure Shamir, first of all, Shamir is a very handsome, well-endowed personality person. But you could tell like you're having to do it five times. You're going up there and you're not even trying. Right? Like that's the part that would like frustrate me a little bit because yeah,
[00:43:42] but I'm not there. But it's like if you're I feel like he was trying. I feel like I don't know. They gave some if there was a tiny little shriek, they were telling people to go do it again. And there is something to be said creating a little bit of drama. So if it was not completely perfect, he had to go do it again. Did you have to clean a whole nother window again? Or did you have to just clean your window? You had to clean, although, although, if I'm being honest,
[00:44:13] I'm not 100% sure and I can text him and ask him. I think he has to What? You got Shamir number? We're on the same seat. Yeah, of course. So I do think Where does he live in? He had to do a here. In New York? He's the Bronx. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Travels a bunch, but here. Anyway. Who said that about Vank? They both. Yes, he goes to Miami a lot. Vank travels to Asia a bunch for work. Anyway, long story short. Is Shamir married?
[00:44:44] I don't think he's married. But he did have a long-term girlfriend. Not at that time, but more recently. I can look into it for you and I will get back to you for the next episode and let you know the answer to this question. The point I was making was part of me thinks that he had to clean a window that wasn't broken. I think after he broke a window, he had to clean a different window. But I'm going to go back and double check on that too because I don't think they would have made him start over on a new window, but he broke a window. They had him
[00:45:14] cleaning the broken. No, you should have fixed it. Okay? You should have made him fix it. Because there might have been some danger with the... Anyway, Shamir and Sarah get to the pit stop in ninth place. Sarah is so positive. I had a good day. I enjoyed the music. I gave her credit because I don't think I would have kept my cool so much. Shamir shucks his backpack in front of Phil and is clearly very unhappy. And, you know, he's in pain. He's unhappy. It wasn't his day. And Phil has this moment like,
[00:45:44] have you never been in a harness? He's like, no, I have not. And so it wasn't there. And we were all there in the rainforest. Like once we finished, like this was not one of the situations where you were doing your interviews and stuff and whatever, but we were all there. Like we went and checked on, everyone checked on him, made sure he was okay. And on her also, on Sarah to make sure she was okay. But he was visibly unhappy. And it's hard. I mean, we met our partners
[00:46:12] a couple of days earlier. So for Sarah, like this is like two, you want to win this thing. And so that's hard when you have like this, this moment early on. I mean, it's also hard when you have a team coming behind you that's about to get eliminated. And it's also being like, I felt like, first of all, if Phil was from Philly, Phil was essentially saying to Shamir like, bitch, is you cool? Like that's what he was saying because I didn't think like, I can't picture Phil saying, bitch, is you cool? But that's like,
[00:46:42] that's, that's if you were from Philly. But again, I felt like when he was like, have you never had a harness on? I didn't think he was really asking had you never had a harness on? I felt like Phil was like, have you never watched the amazing race? Oh, like that's what I, like it was like, like to get at him as, I felt like that's what Phil was really trying to be like. And so like, again, I understand because I know how I am when I get mad and I get upset. Like I shut down. Me too.
[00:47:11] Like even when Sarah was trying to talk and he just turned his back, he's like, there's nothing against you. And I'm like, but like you're making it about you now, right? Like now it's not, now it's not Shamir and Sarah. Now it's like Shamir show. And like, that's the part. And I empathize with him because it's like, I know you're mad. Like I get it. But like, and then when Sarah is like, she starts to cry and she like tries to hold it together and she's still trying to put on a good face. I was like, oh.
[00:47:42] I mean, it's like you, you don't know who you're going to get. You get picked by a partner. It's like, you don't know what ticks them off. You don't know what, you know, builds them up. I will say, I mean, from my experience, at least I'm the kind of person who when I'm doing something and I want my partner to be my cheerleader, like I want my partner to be like, you're doing great because that makes me feel like I'm doing great. Even if I'm sucking real hard, like it makes me motivated to hear someone say you're doing great. Scott will tell you
[00:48:12] he's the other way. He wants someone to shut the F up when he's doing something and my instinct is to go, good job, keep going, you're doing great and he's like, I don't want to hear it. So like at this point, they don't know each other. They don't know how to properly motivate or deal with each other. So I give her a lot of credit. I mean, he was clearly in pain. This wasn't once the camera stopped rolling. He was like, I'm fine, whatever, macho about it. Like he was hurt and so long story short, again too late, Jesse and Franny show up.
[00:48:42] They're in last place. They have to go home. We're all sad. Not because Shamir and Sarah stayed because love them both, but Jesse and Franny were just such infectiously happy, kind, warm people. and the only girl, girl team. Like you also want to root for the ladies. So unfortunately, this was it for them, but they did have a really, we got a chance to say goodbye and they had a really positive experience. They were not
[00:49:11] sore losers about it. And so now you have no ladies to root for. So you're going to have to root for a mixed team or just the boys. That's what you got. Yeah. I was almost, I wanted the Jesse that was like cussing Francesca out at the first episode. I almost feel like if she would have stayed a little longer, but like, I really enjoyed them and I love their just happiness and it was so sad to see them go, but it's like, damn, first episode of minority team goes, second episode, like,
[00:49:40] a woman team goes home, like child, Becca and Floyd better stay behind put. Okay. Next week, we go to Zanzibar, which is great because I love when the race goes to Africa. There is a U-turn. There is some drama. There is some, the coin flip drama comes back again and the drama does not include Brooke for one of the only times in the season.
