[00:02:09] Yes, summer is almost here, and if the summer is here, you know it is time for the Purple Pants Podcast Pit Stop 3rd Annual Summer Rewatch of Amazing Race. And despite what Brooke says, this was her idea.

[00:02:28] She always tells me iconic seasons to watch, and we've watched two iconic seasons in the past two summers, and this summer, we are landing on season 29. Ooh, I'm excited to get into this. In our first installment, we're giving a first look, the cast assessment. Now, clearly, Brooke knows these people, and I'm getting familiar with them.

[00:02:53] So, I'm giving my take, Brooke has given us the info, and I'm going to let you know how I think they do this season. So, listen, without further ado, let's get into this week's Pit Stop. [00:03:21] Let's be clear. You brought it up to us, and then I was like, well, I'd be down with it, and then everyone said we should do it. Girl, you can't have second thoughts now. What are you drinking? How much of it have you drank? Because this was not my idea. I'm going along with it. I'm not sure how I got talked into it. But we're here now, so I guess we're doing it. But I would have suggested this. This is post-traumatic stress disorder.

[00:04:47] And we are here to give you our third annual Summer Rewatch. Let's welcome back to the podcast. She is amazing. She's talented. Her memory may be going. She is the absolute best friend. She has introduced me to a WNBA star. I text with her mother, and she is a contestant on Amazing Race Season 29. Let's welcome back to the podcast, Miss Brick Kim. Hi.

[00:05:18] Hello. I didn't choose this. Girl, you did. But I'm a good sport. Oh, baby. And I think this will give me the opportunity to say, but what really happened is this. So this is going to be a behind-the-scenes look at, I mean, like, I'm not saying this because I was there, but like, a generally highly rated season of the newer era of The Amazing Race.

[00:05:44] And I actually, I will say, I've only rewatched the first episode now. But I had such a smile on my face because it draws back such nice memories. Talk to me in four episodes. I don't think I'll be smiling, but that's fine. I'm a good sport. No one can ever say I'm not a good sport. Well, listen, you absolutely are. I have not watched the first episode yet because I wanted to do this in chronological order.

[00:06:10] And we are here again because I can't stop saying it because I'm so excited to be back. Your Purple Pants pit stop coverage of Amazing Race season 29. We are here for your summer rewatch. We have not had Amazing Race in such a long time. So listen, if you are new here, welcome. Bryce Isaiah, Brooke Cam High, and we cover Amazing Race. And for the last three summers, because after Amazing Race ends, we go through withdrawal from each other.

[00:06:39] Even though we've actually been communicating a lot. A lot. Okay. Girl, I've been calling Brooke crying. She's been calling me crying. We, okay. Miss Brookie Poo is my boo. And so we, after an episode, after a season of Amazing Race ended two years ago, we were like, we should do a summer rewatch. And so we are on our third annual, which is very highly anticipated.

[00:07:01] We appreciate all of the posse members, all of the amazing racers on Reddit, on Discord, on Instagrams and the social media. And so we're here. And we are doing a cast assessment of season 29. I have not watched the first episode yet. I believe, well, I always say this, that I watched Brooke's season. But look at some of these people. I definitely did though, Brooke, right?

[00:07:28] Because your season came out a year after my season came out. And so I was very like, oh, I need to watch Survivor. I need to watch Amazing Race. And so maybe I didn't watch it. Like sit down and watch it. But, you know, after Survivor ended, it would come on. It would be on my TV. So it's like, I know I saw some of it. But anyway, we're so excited to be back. It's been a long time. Brooke, how have you been? Any updates for the posse? You just had a little Hibachi birthday in the backyard. Don't tell the board of my building.

[00:07:57] I don't think we were supposed to do that. But we did. We had a little birthday. Had some people over. Enjoying the nice weather. I love that we're doing a summer rewatch. It's always nicer when the seasonal affective disorder is not kicked in. And it's sunny and beautiful right outside the window here. And I'll need that because we are reliving some of the best and some of the most painful moments that I have had in front of millions. So this is going to be interesting.

[00:08:26] It's going to be cool because I'll have some behind the scenes stuff. I think we're going to have a few people from this cast on to discuss episodes as we go along. And everyone can sort of give their inside take of what they were feeling and how it was going as it was happening. And I'm going to get to watch you watch this season in full for the first time from start to finish with it not being on the background, but with you actually paying attention to what's happening. And I'm just going to ask for, you know, kindness

[00:08:55] and to remember that editing is a real thing. And you know me, so you know me. Okay. Well, I'm here since I've known you for the past, what, five, six years? So like, you know, I'll be able to give my take, but I'm super excited. And I'm super excited for this rewatch. I feel like a lot of the seasons that we have watched have been somewhat in the older era, right? And so I'm excited when I went to Paramount Plus just to ensure they had it.

[00:09:25] I was like, ooh, HD? Because the last two seasons we watched were not in HD. I kind of wish we weren't, but we were. It is so exciting for me. And so, yes, we are here letting you know your summer rewatch is back this week. We are just covering the cast assessment. I guess it's a bit weird for Brooke to do the cast assessment because I haven't seen the season in its entirety. And so, you know, I feel like it's good. We look at the people.

[00:09:54] I can give my impressions on how I think they will do. And Brooke can make, you know, give a little tad bit of what's going on. Yeah, I'll be able to give my feelings and thoughts from being there. And you'll be able to give your predictions and thoughts from watching it. Now, I'm not going to tell you. I mean, you know how it ends, but you don't know what happens between now and then. So I don't want to spoil anything for you. And if you haven't seen it before and you're watching along with us, I don't want to ruin anything.

[00:10:22] So, yeah, we'll talk about the people. We'll talk about the pairings. And we will talk about your predictions. And we'll go from there. What do you think? Yes. So, I mean, first glance at this cast, I mean, I feel like it's a very, like, relatively younger, attractive cast. So young. Bryce, I was the second oldest woman in this cast. There were no grandparents. I went to this thing thinking, okay, so there's going to be people in their 60s, 70s,

[00:10:50] somebody who's never left the United States, not well-traveled, so on and so forth. And I get there and everybody is a CrossFitter or an ultra marathon runner or a yoga instructor or a paratrooper or a police officer or a firefighter. And I'm like, hi, I took a rowing class and I climbed a rock wall. I was not prepared to be. One woman was one year older than me. And that was it. And two gentlemen were like a year older.

[00:11:20] They had CrossFit back then? I thought that was like more of a newer era thing. It's not that long ago. This was actually what's so funny is the day we are recording this is, oh my God, it is the anniversary of the day that the finale, my finale aired. And I believe that on the day that our episode one releases will be 10 years to the day of

[00:11:47] the day that we left for the Amazing Race, which is kind of crazy to me. Well, I'm excited to jump in. And so again, my first thoughts are this cast looks young. Yeah. It is very clear that it is pre the diversity initiative. And even though before the diversity initiative, Amazing Race, I feel like was ahead of Survivor's time in the diversity of casting diverse people, young, old.

[00:12:17] Anywhere on the spectrum of sexuality. Like I always feel like Amazing Race does a good job. But I mean, again, just taking a look. Yeah, look, you know, looks a little, you know. White and you can say white. A little white. But okay. But we could get into the people. And so let's get into, let's see who we first have. Shamir.

[00:12:46] Okay, Shamir. This is Shamir. He's from the Bronx. He was 28 years old at the time. And I do, I did look up to see what it said about everybody because I do sort of know where everybody is now. And it says associate at a top banking firm, which is so perfect for him because that's just what he gives. He doesn't do anything that's not like tippy top of the top. So, I mean, I will say that when I looked around because we didn't know who our partners were going to be.

[00:13:15] And we didn't know how we were going to pick partners or how they were going to pick for us or what was going to happen. And I was like, strong, great smile. Lots of like alpha energy. Like would have been happy to have this happen for me. And so that's what I was thinking. What do you think on seeing him? He looks strong. He looks pleasant. He almost gives me like, I feel like he could be a second cousin of the Fios brothers. Right?

[00:13:42] Like I feel like he could be like, but I feel like just like his energy on what I'm seeing looks strong. And again, I like this winter pose, very strong stance, athletic pants. Like he looks strong. So I'm excited for Shamir. And you know, he's not bad on the eyes. So I like him already. And then do you want to say who he's paired with? And then we'll talk about how you think they're going to do as a team. Yeah. Okay.

[00:14:11] Your season, your world. I don't know. That is Sarah. That is Shamir's partner. Love her. Sarah is a 20, was a 27 year old. It says real estate agent. She was also a nurse. I guess at the time she was doing real estate, which is why they led with that from Baltimore, Maryland. I had such great, she had such great energy. Like she was always smiling, always put together. She's one of those people who you feel like she rolls out of bed and she looks gorgeous. Like this.

[00:14:40] So I figured if I was put with her, I would be like the. Ratty, scary, older sister. Not older. Oh yeah. I was like a decade older than most of these people, which is amazing to me because I didn't think I was old, but you know. Well, Sarah looks fit. She looks, you know, I love me a beauty queen. So she looks fit. She looks fun. Shamir and her look like they will.

[00:15:09] Just from this photo. And I'm assuming this photo was, when did y'all take these photos? So those photos, I believe are at the start line. So I believe this is before, because this is not the poses that we had during the, so the photos that are taken or the little video clips that are taken for the credits are taken at the end of the season for us because we didn't know our partners. Most of the time they're taken beforehand, but going in, we didn't know who that was.

[00:15:37] So I believe these pictures are all taken before we started at the start line. So this is before anything happened. So then this is great. It seems like that. I mean, I would think that they're a couple, right? Like, you know, the way they're engaged and hugging and Sarah looks fit. She looks fun. So I'm excited to see what Miss Sarah is giving. I'm excited for you to see these two in action.

[00:16:03] He particularly has a really interesting, early on in the season. Maybe it's episode two. There's, there's some moments. That's all I'll say about that. Okay. Okay. I'm excited. Ooh. That's Olive. Okay. Olivia Beauregard Olive, 24 year old from Providence, Rhode Island. Firefighter. Are you like strong with it? Like fast, determined, no nonsense.

[00:16:33] Like you knew she was going to be a force to be reckoned with. Yeah. She almost reminds me of what's that season with, uh. Oh, busy and sunny and busy. Right. I know that from glasses. You throw on some sunglasses and I know exactly who you're talking about. Okay. She looks strong. I like her like rocker esque outfit. I like the haircut again, very strong pose. I'm excited. What's, what's her name? Busy. Olive. Olive. And I love, I know.

[00:17:03] And I love a good olive. So I'm excited to see Ms. Olive and what she won't give us this season. And who is she paired with? That's Seth. Okay. Mm-hmm. Seth was. He has a cop haircut. Is he a cop? He's a cop. Seattle police officer, 37 year old. He was one of the older. He's an elder with me. Okay. He gave a low old. So strong. No, no. So strong. So fast.

[00:17:31] The nicest human being. Like, so, okay. So they, before we started and you'll see it the first 10 seconds of the first episode, they put us in an order and they ran us out into this park in LA. And I was between Seth and the other biggest, tallest, strongest dude there. And I was like, okay, well, if they count us off, like, I'm good with either one. Either of these people is going to be one of the people that is my partner. Fine by me.

[00:17:59] Like, he is as handsome as he is kind. Yeah. Looks nice. Like his shorts. I mean, again, from this original photo, like with the haircut, I'm like, is he a cop? But he looks nice. He looks fit. Like him and Olive look very, like, again, just from this photo, they look like they gel together.

[00:18:24] It looks like they're, I feel like they're like, they could, and I'm just going off the photo and the energy. I feel like they could be like polar opposites, but I feel like they gel really well. People try and set them up in the first 10 seconds, but he is not into that. He is a member of the LGBTQ community. Oh, well, happy Pride Month, Seth. Okay. I feel like you're giving me a little too much info on these people, Miss Mamas.

[00:18:53] I want to, you know, I got the first episode. Okay, you go. Who's next? Well, no, I mean, I want you to tell me, but I don't, you know, you, I feel like. What? I'm giving you stuff in the first 30 seconds of the first. Okay. Oh. So this girl. Okay. This gives me Miss Brooke Cam High, very interesting pose. Um, you look fun. You look, I mean, I've seen this photo a million times. I can't get away from this photo.

[00:19:21] It is, you know, I love the orange and the green. You look excited. You look chippy. You look like. Like, I mean, a little bit. I mean, if you want me to be honest. A little bit. You feel like. Just looking at this photo. You giving me. I studied. I know maps. I know languages. Like, you give me like. I know it all. I. If I had to like gauge off of like the photos who I wanted to be with. I mean.

[00:20:23] Which is so interesting. Because it's like. I know Scott post. This. Or just like our interactions through the podcast. And like, obviously. You. Scott being your partner. So clearly Scott and I have a connection. But. I mean. You guys. Look very connected. Um. You're immediately leaning in. To him. Which signifies to me. That like. He's holding me up. No, I'm just kidding. You're like. I'm going to an amazing race. So whatever this is. We're going to make it work. So I'm excited. Scott. Like.

I will say some people bought two pairs of sneakers. I did. And I ditched one of them because they fell in the ocean. Scott did not. Those sneakers were rank. By the end of the race.

[00:21:23] Said with love. Okay. Now. Mr. Smelly feet. Scott. No. He didn't have smelly feet. He had smelly sneakers. He was 34. No. Nope. He was 34 at the time. He was a recruiting manager. He's now a realtor. He lives in Hollywood. He now lives in Seattle. And that's my buddy. Hi, Scotty. Okay. Then who we got? Oh. That is one Joseph Covino. Now. This is so funny because. I have seen him.

[00:21:53] A million times. In real life. Specifically at like. The Florida event. That used to be called Hearts of Reality. I never knew he was on the amazing race. He was on my season of the amazing race. I know. I always thought he was like. I thought. Because he's always with. What's that guy from the challenge? Mark. I feel like him and Mark are together a lot. So I figure he was on the challenge. Or. He could be. Or Nikki and Afraid.

[00:22:23] Also. I feel like he would do that. Joey was the elder. He was 46 years old at the time. He's a Boston police sergeant. I mean. He tried very hard. To not look like a police sergeant. And that's why he grew his hair out. He didn't want to come across. As a cop. I don't know. I sort of. I don't know what you can say about. Joey is. A beautiful personality. He is. Exactly what you would want him. To be. And I'm excited for you to watch him. Because he just.

[00:22:53] There's no filter. And there's no nonsense. Well. You think he's from. Bolton. Bolton. You think he's from Boston. Kind of gives me a little bit of an art. He's got a very strong pose. I don't. I mean. You know. Every season. I got somebody. I want to cuss out. And I'm not saying. It's going to be Joey. But. The saxophones. Are playing in my ear. The bells are going off. So I don't know. But we'll have to see. I'll let you form all your own opinions.

We actually both went to Syracuse. And were there at the same time. Did not know her. Did not know she even went to Syracuse. Until she had a Syracuse shirt on. And I was like. You. I need to put an asterisk next to them. I need to see how they are going to do. Okay. And then from there. We have. Oh. I know this. I know Becca. I know Becca. I know who her partner is. I love Becca. I know her partner is. I love Becca. I.

[00:25:22] Okay. I don't know much about her. Like what her background is. But I know. I've been around Becca plenty of times. I know I've had many cocktails with Becca. And I know that there is somewhere. And I'll have to look. On my phone. From like seven, six years ago. Of us being in Florida. In somebody's room. On a balcony. With cocktails. And like me and her going back and forth rapping. It might be my room. I just know. We was. It was late at night.

[00:25:52] We was on that balcony. We was drinking. And. And Floyd was there. And we was rapping. And we videoed it. So. I love Becca. And I know. This. Look at me giving. I know they played again. Yes. They did. See. There was a. There was a. Survivor Big Brother Amazing Race season. That Becca and Floyd came back to do. So Becca. 26 year old. Rock climbing instructor. From Boulder, Colorado. Love.

[00:26:22] Also part of the LGBTQ community. Yes. Come on. Happy Pride. Mm-hmm. Like you could tell from the second you saw her. She was sporty. She was. If I. There are a couple of women. I wanted to be paired with a guy. Because I was like. I need muscles. She would have thrown me over her shoulder. And. Pulled me along as far as I needed to go. Mm-hmm. Okay. And listen. Best photo. Yet. They. Oh my God. First of all. Look how young Floyd looks.

[00:26:51] I just saw Floyd. Oh my God. I just saw him when we were in Colorado. For a Bryson win. But oh my God. Best photo yet. Like. And again. I don't. Remember how they do. But I love their chemistry. So I'm. They. They do well. You could not have. You could not have. Like. Scripted. A better duo. Like. I know it didn't happen. Because the producers didn't put us together. And yet. This happened.

[00:27:21] Perfect. Like. Floyd in them shorts. Baby. That's 21 year old Floyd. Who. I believe. Was not completely honest about his age. When he applied. Because he had to be 21. I don't think he was yet. But they picked him. Because he's awesome. He was a college student at the time. At UC Boulder. Um. This just. This pairing was perfection. Floyd is. If you've never gotten to meet him. And don't know him as a human. I. I'm sad for you. Because he is sunshine. As a person. Like. Just genuinely. I mean.

[00:27:50] Both of them are fantastic. They're. One. Becca was here. And we ended up in Central Park. Just a few of us. It was nighttime. And. We were rapping. And she goes. Oh. She was shocked. That I had musical skills. And I was like. Girl. That's a musical theater major. I have rhythm. It's good. But these two. As a team. Were. Like. Chef's kiss. Perfection. I remember that. That. They. My truck. I don't really remember you and Scott too much. But I do remember.

[00:28:19] It's two teams I remember. Esque. Right? I remember. Obviously. I feel like. Nothing against you and Scott. But I feel like when I. When people think of. Season 29. I think they think of Becca and Floyd. Maybe just me. But mind you also. No. They do. There have been so many times. That I've been out with them. And people have been like. Can you take a picture? And I'm like. Sure. But they want me to take a picture of them. With Becca and Floyd. It's fine. I have no. We have. We're at that event. That you were talking about. And I was sitting with.

[00:28:49] Scott. And. Blair. And Becca and Floyd. And. Becca and Floyd were next to us. And people were coming by. And they were like. Oh. We really wanted you to win. At some point. I was like. Yeah. Me too. Sad. They couldn't take it. Like. We're sitting right here. But it's fine. I love them. And I can't even be mad about it. And when did y'all film. This would have had to have been in the 2010s. June 2016. Okay. Because I could tell by the length of Floyd's shorts. Because back in the day. And I can only speak for black men. But. There was an era.

[00:29:18] Where shirts used to come down to your. Below your knees. And your shorts used to come down to your calves. And so. It feels like we're out of. That era. Era. But still close enough. Because I don't know if Floyd got on a skirt. I don't know if Floyd got on capris. I don't know if Floyd has on. For. Like full of pants. But. It definitely gives me the era. I love Floyd. And I'm excited to watch them. And Becca. And Becca. I'm excited to watch. I mean. I know what happens.

[00:29:48] And I'm still excited to watch them. I think they are just. I love it. Love it. Now. Who is this? He gives me. I don't know nothing about these people yet. But he. First of all. [00:30:18] He's a skater. He is a snowboarder. Oh. He's a games champion. Because my. It. He. This gives me. Like. When I used to. I do think he skateboards too. But he is an X. He won the X. I don't love this pose. But. And what's her name? That's Liz.

I will take also the person she's paired with. The two of them were spectacular fun. Although you will see right at the beginning of the race. Literally moment one. They have a little bit of drama. So that's fun to watch too. Okay. And who is her partner? That's her partner, Jessie. Jessie is 28 years old from Ohio.

[00:43:40] She is 6'3". And the first female canine officer on the Youngstown, Ohio Police Department. A canine officer? Wait. How many police and military people do we have this season? Yeah, a bunch. Yeah. This is the Navy SEALs versus civilians. And then me. Right. Exactly. Oh. Okay. A canine officer. Mm-hmm. And her dog, Hector. I think I remember the dog's name. Her partner's name was Hector. That's not surprising.

[00:44:10] I know. Okay. Well, I like them. It was like such a warm personality. Like, she is imposing. She was bigger than most of the guys. Like, and just muscly and strong. And 6'3". Like, big and tall and strong. But, like, so kind. And her giggle. Like, her laugh was amazing. Like, she's just kind people. The season was filled with predominantly very kind people who all wanted to be there. Oh.

And that, his partner is Ashton. 25-year-old real estate agent from Fort Worth, Texas. Oh. This girl had to buy her in her blood. Yeah. She was, like, raring to go.

[00:46:07] And she was ready to beast her way through the hole. This team was very mismatched. They will be the first people to tell you. Um. But I, listen. I like. I mean. Does, does Bank still live in New York? New York? Yeah. Oh, my God. Brooke, you gotta invite him out. He does travel a lot. Well, we'll give him a heads up. Well, actually, let me see.
