Purple Pants Podcast | Survivor 50 Finale Tea Breakdown
The baby boys are back for one more Survivor 50 Tea Breakdown! Even though the season ended last week, Brice and Jack had to jump back on the mic to unpack all the chaos and conversation coming out of the live finale and reunion. From the exit interview fallout and their thoughts after finally processing the finale to the “White Lotus effect,” the future of Survivor 51, and all the extra tea in between, Brice and Jack are covering it ALL. [00:01:21] Baby, so much happened after we recorded our last Survivor News That Jack hit me up this weekend and said, Brice, did you see the press interviews? Brice, did you see the TikToks? And I said, Jack, yes Let's go So listen, we missed you We read the comments I know y'all didn't want the baby boys to end And so we are back giving you some more thoughts
[00:01:47] So let's get in to this week's Survivor News
[00:02:18] Guys, what is going on? It's the baby boy Jack Atkins here, along with the one and only Bryce Isaiah, future winner of Survivor Second Chances 2. You may know him from Survivor Kageyan. You may know him from the Issa Look series with Rob Sester Nino. You may know him from Bryce and Web Presents. But we wanted to come at you. Season 50 may be over, but Bryce and I are certainly not over it. And so we want to come at you with a little bonus coverage.
[00:02:48] One or two episodes, maybe put a cherry on top of the season. And so Bryce and I got to talking and we had seen this. There's been a lot of drama and a lot of tea involved with this Season 50 cast. So Bryce and I just wanted to come on. We had seen some videos from the finale and just heard ramblings. And we really just wanted to dive in and kind of explore sort of the behind the scenes of Survivor Season 50 and what's going on with some of these contestants. So I'm very excited to chat.
[00:03:17] Bryce, how are you feeling? I'm excited. Anytime I get to talk with Jack Atkins, it's a good day. But I also feel like Jack, you know, Jack is jacking. He lying. I had hit Jack up Saturday, Friday, like just checking in, seeing what time zone he's in. This Sunday morning, Jack's like, I'm missing, I'm missing, I'm missing potty with you and Wendell.
[00:03:45] Let's do, let's do some coverage. Something. I said, okay, Jack, whatever you want to do. So, Jack. I mean, all I'm saying, I'm looking at our text. Every text you sent me, I responded to. I mean, but you initiated it. You were like, hey. Well, this one, yeah. What did I lie about? All I said. No, you just say we wanted to. I was ready to take my hibernation. Oh, okay. I was trying to give it a royal we.
[00:04:13] I mean, no, we, I mean, you hit me. I sent an emoji. And then I said, well, wait a minute. We can talk about it. We can talk about it. So anyway, I'm just, I'm just jerking your chicken, Jack. Stop. Right. The drama here is supposed to be with the cast, not between us. Yes. And listen, when DZ wanted to be up on his podcast, he said, oh, you and Jack is recording. I said, listen, you've been on spring break. Yeah. Stay there. You know something or two about survivor drama.
[00:04:44] CBS posted a photo of two people that have played Survivor and the challenge. And I said, let me get in this comments. But no. So yeah. Also, I feel like Jack, shout out to Lauren Alexandria. She always comes on and recaps the episodes with us. She's amazing. If you haven't listened to that episode yet, make sure you listen to it. But also like, I always rewatch all the episodes that we do.
[00:05:12] And I felt like I was like, I was my outer body experience in the sense of so much has come out since we recorded that episode. Right. Where it's like a lot of my takes, I feel like I want to take back. And also just pure exhaustion from just traveling and getting back and making sure. So it was just there's so much that has happened with.
[00:05:41] The Survivor finale. And I feel like it's the reason I love these finales. Right. There was so much happening. And these press interviews. The exit. The exit interviews, baby! That's where I want to start. But then I want to go to the red carpet. Then I want to go to the sponsors. Then I want to go to the fight-in. Yeah. And we got, obviously this is our first live reunion in a long time.
[00:06:10] But we didn't get a lot of reunion. You know what I mean? We saw Q on the carpet being like, there's going to be a fight. There's lots of beef. It's all going to come out tonight. And then all they had was, here's your t-shirt, Ozzy. Here's a car, Aubrey. And so we didn't really get to see any of that come to fruition. So I feel like that left us all asking, what's going on behind the scenes? I almost feel like Jack, right? Because Q, when Q was on the red carpet telling us all of the things that had happened,
[00:06:39] I feel like that played a role. And so why there were only two questions asked during the reunion? It's definitely possible. I mean, I also think Survivor's gotten to this point, even when it's not a live finale, of they let the episode go like two and a half hours. And then that cuts into that reunion time. And obviously, I think it's generally good to have that episode be long enough because you want to see everything play out the way that it plays out. And it sucks that you don't get as many.
[00:07:09] I wish the episode was like four hours. We could get a full reunion. But I totally agree with you. It might be that maybe the producers can send some things boiling and might not necessarily be the best look to end the season off with some of the contestants going at it a little bit. One of the first things that I noticed, Jack, after we recorded last week was Jenna Lewis. She was the first person voted out. And she was, if y'all are not following Jenna Lewis, go follow her on Instagram.
[00:07:39] While the live episode is going on, and you know I've experienced this, you're in the green room, right? And we're watching live. And so it's a big space. There's food. But Jenna Lewis was like kind of capturing the moment. And she posts a video. And whoo! When I say you could cut the tension with a knife.
[00:08:07] Like in the video, there's like Sari, Tiffany, Emily, Charlie, D kind of sitting together. She pans across the room. Jonathan's just sitting by himself. There's Joe talking with what I would lead to believe is a producer. He's actively having a conversation, right? And it's just like you look at Coach is in another world.
[00:08:34] Coach is just sitting watching the TV, but like he's not even watching the TV. But like that was like the start of my rabbit hole of like, maybe I should start diving into all of these Survivor 50 posts. Did you see that video? I didn't see a whole lot. I mean, we talked a little bit about it this week, and I would try to go and do a little research. But I was missing out on a lot of these behind-the-scenes videos, Bryce. Jack, I'm trying to tell you.
[00:09:04] You, there's a lot. Outside, just, is this crazy? In real life, like outside of Survivor, are you ever in like a room and you know there's like some crazy tension going on? But you're not involved in it? You're like, this kind of fun. Like I can't wait to see this boil over. I'm here as an intrigued observer. You know what I mean? Yes. Yes.
[00:09:32] I call that my Monday morning huddle at work. Yes. And obviously it's like awkward as hell, but you're just sort of like, this is kind of interesting. Yeah. And so seeing that Jenna video, and again, I don't even think she noticed it, right? She's capturing the moment, but also it was like, damn, what a moment to capture. It led me down this rabbit hole. And so then I rewatched our episode with Lauren, and then I rewatched the episode.
[00:10:02] And I just want to go back to our girl, Tiffany, her final tribal council, where she, and even the start of the final episode where Tiffany is going off. Like, and we were said, Tiffany had been so composed this whole time. And then all of a sudden it seemed like Tiffany was like, I don't give a F.
[00:10:25] And it was interesting because one of the red carpet interviews that Tiffany did, she did with Tyson Apostles podcast, which is like a, what's the name of it? Drop your buffs. Um, I think so. I know it's on the ringer. It's on the ringer. So Tyson's podcast. Is it the pod has spoken? I think it's the pod has spoken.
[00:10:51] And so Tiffany did an interview with this, uh, young black queen here. And Tiffany divulged the story that when she was talking to Jonathan, like, Hey, I'm just trying to help you out. And again, like knowing Aubrey wins, right. And knowing the position that Jonathan's in and Tiffany is making this pitch to Jonathan, right?
[00:11:18] Like, Hey, listen, y'all coming for me. And I don't, the wire to the bomb is not me. It's sitting next to you. And she brings up how like, she was like, well, Joe has the same amount of immunity wins as I do. Why me and not Joe. And she goes into saying that Jonathan was like, well, historically in these types of situations, the women beat out the men.
[00:11:47] And so like, I want to go with a man. I don't think that's what he said, but I think that that is what he was implying. And as simple as like, I think he started the message off with like, well, because you're a girl. And so that kind of like the whole internet went wild. And this young lady that's on Tyson's podcast, she captured the clip.
[00:12:09] And then when she went back with Tyson, she relayed the story to Tyson and kind of like hyperphrased it, but kind of hyperphrased it to the point that where it was just like, Jonathan was like, you're just a girl. And so the internet went crazy. And then there was a lot of like people clipping this and being like, that's kind of like a mischaracterization of what Jonathan said. He said it, but there was more context. Right. Yeah.
[00:12:38] And so that was just really interesting because when we recorded that podcast with me, you and Lauren, like I didn't see that. And so again, it just kind of brings more fire to like, yes, Tiffany. And again, Mr. Jonathan, like you waited four years and you couldn't see that Aubrey was a huge threat. Like you went with Aubrey. And again, don't get me wrong.
[00:13:06] I feel like if he would have went with Tiffany. Well, yeah. She still wins. But like in my, and again, I don't, you know, I've only played once, but I would be like Aubrey played five times. Like she like, you know, like, like again, Tiffany was really telling him some real ish. Mm hmm. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:13:32] So I'm torn on this and I want to like be able to, so obviously Tiffany's my girl and I was devastated when she went home. We actually got up at the bar and we hit the David Kinney and just like, you remember when, uh, but I do think so. Because I also saw, you know, there's some comments on our last post.
[00:13:57] I want to make sure I'm choosing my words carefully and coming from a place of allyship. And for me, it may be, I hope I can convey this right. To me, there's a lot of stuff that Jonathan did during the season in the post season that people, I think are correctly calling him out for. Okay.
[00:14:18] But what I will say is like that snippet you showed of from Tyson's podcast to then kind of relay a message without some valuable context. I think it can almost shift focus to villainizing someone for something that is maybe like less bad than some of the other actions that they've been doing. And now I think Tiffany had every right to be for Jonathan to, to, you know, start his.
[00:14:47] Yeah, we obviously we weren't there, so we don't know all the language, but it sounds like he said like. Like why, why, what's the difference between Tiff and with Joe both having the same amount of immunity wins? And he started out by saying like, because you are a girl, but it sounded like the rest of his argument was saying it's like, perhaps you're coming from more of an underdog position. And also in terms of the immunity record that I think the immunity record for women is four, whereas the immunity record for men is like five or six.
[00:15:16] And so it sounded like Jonathan was implying, hey, you're one win away from tying the women's immunity record. And like, that's a very impressive feat. And so obviously for him to start off that argument by being like, well, because you're a girl, I could totally see why Tiffany would be upset with that rightfully so. But I also think to say that he voted her out because she is a girl and to not include the other context sort of misconstrues what he was saying. And now I'm not saying what he was saying was right or wrong.
[00:15:46] But I think if you want to be upset with somebody, you have to at least know sort of what the message they were relaying was, because it wasn't just him being like, because you're a woman and I don't like women. Well, yeah, I agree. I agree with that, because I don't believe that it was just that you're a woman. I believe it was you're a black. I believe it was a lot more than that. And again, you don't give an apology. And after you give an apology, you don't say what? Wait. What? Oh, in general.
[00:16:15] I'm just saying. So, like, yeah, I agree. Right. I don't believe the woman on Tyson's podcast. I don't believe she intentionally, like, right. That's the gist of the story, period. But, like, again, my take on this whole thing really has nothing to do with that podcast in general. It's more about, like, me rewatching and seeing all these other things where it's just like, well, Tiff had a point. Right. Like, she was just mad.
[00:16:45] And like she said, I'm going to just lay it all out right here, right now. And I think just when we recorded our last podcast, I don't think I even had that context. Right. Like, I just was, you know, rocking with my girl, Tiff. What I do want to say is for Jonathan, right?
[00:17:04] And on our last podcast, I said, hey, listen, he has come a long way from his first time playing Survivor. And I think that that should be noted. Whether you love Jonathan, hate Jonathan, indifferent. Like, I definitely, my perception at the time was like, okay, this man, he improved. Right. Like, he definitely. Baby.
[00:17:35] Those exit interviews. Whoo. Right. Like, because I feel like sometimes when we watch Survivor, there's edits. Right. Where it's like, we just. You don't know what you're actually. You don't know. Right. Right. And again, I even go back to Tiffany where I've seen ex-impressive Tiffany where they were like asking Tiffany, like, what's something that you wish was shown more? Tiffany's like, well, when we made the merge, Sari was my girl.
[00:18:05] Like, we went to sleep together. Like, we hung out together. We were a pair. You don't see that. They even asked Tiffany. They're like, would you take Sari to the end? Tiffany was like, I actually would. She said the same thing Ozzy was saying, right? Like, she's like, she deserves to be there. So, I just say, like, there's just so many contexts in which we just don't get to see. And I think the exit press allows us to see a lot of things. Unfiltered. Unfiltered.
[00:18:35] And like I said before, I thought watching the season, I'm like, okay, like Jonathan improved. Right? Like, you didn't do enough to win. Yeah. But my God today, seeing Jonathan's exit press, like, ugh. Jump scare right there. It was a jump scare. And I believe this might have been with Dalton Ross or Mike Bloom. I believe in my heart that I played the better game. I know I did.
[00:19:04] But because Aubrey played five times, that weighed a lot on the jury votes. Is that fair? It's up to the fans of Survivor to decide. Wait, no. Bitch, the season might be in the hands of the fans. But who is it up to decide? It's the jury. Yeah. Like, huh? Yeah. Well, and okay, this is where, these are the things that I think Jonathan does deserve a lot of backlash for.
[00:19:34] And that sort of was to my earlier point of, I feel like, you know, these are literally his own words. We're seeing them right in front of us. And one, so, you know, we talked about how he improved this season. But at the same time, again, my biggest issue with the conversation that he had with Tiffany at that tribal is, you know, a little bit less of the message that he intended, but more in the delivery. And then he had made these improvements.
[00:20:02] But we see in 42, he had the same thing where there was some tribals where he maybe didn't mean wrong, but delivered a message very poorly. Sort of a Stephanie LaGrosa situation. Although I don't know actually what her intentions were, but we just know she can't finish her sentences. But Jonathan, you know, like, again, you kind of take his intention out of it. The way that he delivers this message to Tiffany is what bothers her.
[00:20:31] And that's absolutely justified. And so we see, I guess, you know, ultimately not that much maybe has really changed. And you come to this exit press. I mean, just to the image you just brought up with the quote, it's the thing is, he's obviously looking at it all from his perspective, right? Like maybe the game that he thinks is good on Survivor. He did a better job of that than Aubrey. But I don't think he's looking like. At what the jury collectively tends to value these days.
[00:21:01] And the other factor, real quick, is just you knew how many times Aubrey had played. And you knew that that legacy could be a factor with the jury, right? And so, you know, whether that should be a factor or not, that's totally fair to have a conversation. But naturally, you have people in the jury that have relationships with Aubrey, that have played with Aubrey, that have seen more of her game.
[00:21:25] And so, you know, Jonathan had multiple opportunities where he could have voted out Aubrey. And so I feel like when you have the power to do so and you have the things he's talking about are information that is accessible to him, whether it's through doing a little bit of research before the season or through being observant during the season.
[00:21:47] And so if you have all of this information, right, how can you complain that like, you know, I sort of like, I think if you look at it in the vacuum of the season. I can I can I'm not saying I agree, but I can see why in his own mind, obviously, he's biased towards himself and thinks he played better. But he's he's mad about all these factors that he knew about. Right. Like, it's not like Aubrey. Was like secretly siblings with like someone on the jury. And he's like, that's a huge advantage that I didn't know about.
[00:22:16] And like, that's why she won. It's like, well, no, you know, she played with Serena Ozzy and, you know, all these other things. So it's like how and you could have voted her out. Right. So even again, right. Like. He's like, it's up to the Survivor fans. Well, no, it's actually up to you. And even like him when Tiffany is talking to him, when Tiffany is talking after she gets back and she loses. Right. And she talks to Rizzo. Rizzo's like.
[00:22:47] Listen, sis, I can't sit next to you. Like, that's it. Right. Like, and Tiffany's like, cool. Yeah. And so, like. Respectable. Right. And so. Heard to Jonathan and Jonathan's like, well, he starts off with because you're a girl. Right. Like that's jury management. Exactly. That's how you talk to people. Right. Like, and again. And I.
[00:23:17] Well, to your point, I think a big thing there is in what I think justifiably made Tiffany so upset. People don't like when you give them reasons about things. I think whether in Survivor in real life that are, you know, seem to be out of their control. Right. Like Rizzo could be like, hey, I just can't sit next to you. You're a great player. You've played a great game. And Tiffany's like, all right. Damn, I did do that. Like, you know. Where Jonathan's like, well, you know, because you're a woman. And whatever the other context of that was. Sure.
[00:23:46] But it's like, well, Tiffany's like, well, I can't control that. What kind of basis is that? Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. You know. But I'm just saying, like, again, jury management. When you started saying anything off with, you're a woman. I don't care what you say after that. Exactly. But again, don't want to be a dead horse. But for me, I just was shocked at seeing some of Jonathan's exit press.
[00:24:15] Where it was kind of like, read the room. A little humble goes a long way. And again, it made me think of Aubrey and Michelle Fitzgerald. Shout out to Michelle Fitzgerald. Because Michelle Fitzgerald on the finale, she looked it good. She looked it delicious. I was watching her TikTok of her and Julia.
[00:24:40] Julia, them getting ready and like the fact that Michelle's outfit wasn't even something that she like planned to wear. But again, going back to Karong, where there were fans that believed Aubrey played the better game. Right. And in this situation, like Aubrey could have been the Jonathan. And Michelle is the Aubrey in the sense of like Michelle's social game. Like whatever.
[00:25:07] And but like during the exit press, we're like, you just don't see Aubrey during that period of time saying these type of things. It's just kind of like the fans. And so, again, I felt as though a lot of Jonathan's exit press was very telling where. Exactly. I kind of almost feel like I always tell the story of Kageyan, where in that same green room.
[00:25:34] I'm watching Wu and his temperament throughout that night changed. And so I'm again, just Jonathan's raw reaction in these exit interviews makes me think like, did Jonathan think he won? And also very important to note. Only the cloth voted for Jonathan. Yeah.
[00:25:56] And the irony of it, too, is like and we talked a bit about this with Lauren, is that the lack of sort of tact and self-awareness that he showed in those exit interviews is sort of precisely the reason that he did lose is because people just didn't. And, you know, when you have a little bit of that. Lack of humility about you, then people naturally aren't going to find you as as rootable.
[00:26:23] And but, you know, in a way I can relate, like not to say, look, once you lose, you got to try to lose gracefully. But I think we can all relate to it. It's not always as easy. Right. When it's when you're the one in the shoes and you feel like you did your best. Obviously, it's frustrating. We're always going to be biased towards ourselves and feel like, hey, I went on my journey and I thought I did a good job. Like, I think I should have won. But that's more of an idea you kind of have to keep to yourself. You know, you have to be a little bit more.
[00:26:52] And you definitely you definitely can't go out and then be like, well, it's all the jurors fault. Then it's like, well, the fans of Survivor will decide. No, baby. That's what we're talking about. Yeah. You ain't Russell Hance. Let's make it. Let the fans vote. You know what I mean? So, no, I guess I can't.
[00:27:12] I guess I can relate to the fact of being upset, thinking you should have won because we've I think we've outside of Survivor have experienced that in life where you feel like maybe you perform better than you're getting credit for. But again, when you lose, it should be like, damn, I'm disappointed. But like, where did I go wrong? What can I do better? Not like these jurors are idiots, man. But to give Jonathan a little leeway, right?
[00:27:40] For it to be a live finale, right? It'd be different if it wasn't a live finale and maybe like he watched it at home with his family and his brother. But I also, I didn't see this brother. That's Mario and Bowser right there, man. Right.
[00:28:04] Because when I rewatched the episode and I saw Jonathan's brother and the red overalls in a blue shirt, I was like, what the hell? But then the more and more I keep staring at it, I'm like, now with the right sneakers and a hat and a jacket, I'm not even mad. He and I are kind of matching right now. Right. Like, right. Give me some sneakers and a jacket and a hat. Jonathan's brother and I might be cut from the same cloth.
[00:28:32] But I'm just saying it. True. There's some Bryce Isaiah, you know, flair. Right. Like when I first saw him, I was like, what the hell is going on? But again, if maybe Jonathan or whoever, you're at home with your family, I don't know. I think the added pressure of being around everyone plays into it. Now, also, we got to talk about Joe, right? Because say what you want about Joe.
[00:29:01] I felt like these exit press and some of these exit interviews. Now, I haven't seen it all. So don't hold me to the cross. I only just see what my algorithm brings me. Yeah. But Joe was self-aware. Right. Yeah. Multiple exit interviews. And multiple. My God. Joe was. He was like, I almost told the jury, don't, you know, don't even worry about asking me.
[00:29:30] And I, I appreciated that. When Joe was like, I almost told the jury, hey, listen. Hey, go ahead. Right. Like, I was like, I appreciate that. Right. Where it's like. Yeah. And Joe even talks about like his fights with Devin and like how he's like, and I love Joe. He talks about blocking people. He talks about he blocked Kelly Wentworth.
[00:29:59] He blocked Savannah and he blocked Tiffany. He, again, like I'm not there. Right. We're just bystanders. I guess, you know. But I felt like, ah, okay, Joe, like, but tell us the reason. Um, but it was just interesting. And again, for Joe said, like kind of had that realization of being like, I didn't think it was me. And again, it kind of just very interesting.
[00:30:28] But I, I felt like, oh, okay, Joe, I see you. Yeah. No, I loved it because it put a lot of things in a perspective about Joe. Right. Like a few episodes ago, I feel like I was giving him shit being like, Joe just thinks he's doing what he can do. And then if he gets to the end, he's going to have a shot. He's just doing everything. He knows how he's not really planning his, um, final threes out or anything like that. And a, it sounded like he had a pretty tight final two with Rizzo.
[00:30:58] So there was an avenue there with him that I thought was smart. And then B for him to be, to get to final travel council and be like, I know this isn't like, this isn't me. Uh, but so I'm like, okay, you know, he really is just a guy survivor might not be his game, but he's just out there doing his best and like try to last as long as he can. And like having fun. Like, you know, I always thought he, he had like, he was so confident that if he get to the end, he would win, but it seems like he was out there really like, Oh, look, I don't really know, but I'm just doing what I can.
[00:31:30] Right. But Jack, let me, let me, let me get on your ass real quick. Like, because I keep telling you, I think this is the third season that I tell you, or I've mentioned that we put sometimes too much pressure on the winner. Right. And I don't feel like as a survivor community, we give enough credit to like second, third, fourth and fifth place.
[00:31:58] And again, say whatever you want about a Joe, but I feel like this is a prime example of like, Joe played a very interesting game. And like, he read the room, right? Like he, like, and I don't know when he read the room, but there was clearly, we know Joe, we know Joe's story from last season. We know Joe with his family, his sister, like Joe didn't just come to survivor 50 and be like, I'll settle for third. Right.
[00:32:24] However, at some point in time, he's seeing Saree. He's seeing Tiffany. He's seeing Rizzo. He's seeing Jonathan. And like, he like, well, let me just see how far I can go. And I think that that is so respectable. And I know you hate that. You don't feel like it's like, I, I, I guess it's circumstantial, right?
[00:32:50] Like if Joe knows and is like, I still think Joe was like doing his best, you know, like maybe he thought if he got to the end with Rizzo and Jonathan, he'd have a better shot. And I think that's what he was, you know, that's what he seemed like he was going for. And look, if you're, if he's the type where he sort of knows, like, he's not going to do all the crazy gameplay and stuff. And like, that's just who he is. And like, you know, yeah, it's not great.
[00:33:17] I don't knock people doing that from a sense of like, as a person to just like, try to make it as long as you can. And like, you know, like I'm not mad at like a Sue Smay for getting third, you know what I mean? Like, um, but the game though. Yeah. Yeah. But it's like, if, you know, if you are someone who's out there to try to win, I can, I then I think I respect more if you are playing what you feel like is a winning game and you go out like an eight or a nine because you were a target and you were, you were going
[00:33:46] for the win rather than someone just trying to be like, I'm going to, and I get what you mean at like a certain point you have to kind of know, but I think the, the, a great, a great player, which not everyone necessarily would be a great player, but a great player, which is what I would hope people would want to be when they go out would sort of know what those angles could be where if they ended up at a five with like a Saree and an all, whatever, or whatever the circumstance might be, you would maybe try to diagnose
[00:34:15] that before you get to that point, do something about it. And look, if doing something about it gets you voted out, it is what it is, but you want to try to set yourself self up to win. And that's not too much also not to put shade on second because sometimes people play great games and they get second. Sometimes people play great games and they get third and like Xander Hastings. I mean, he played his best game. And, um, and it didn't shake out, but he played what he thought to be was a winning game. And, you know, it doesn't always work out, but I love Xander. Right.
[00:34:45] And Xander is a close friend of yours, a close friend of mine. My only, and I've said this to Xander. Xander. Sometimes I feel like Xander's Achilles heel at the end was like, Xander should have gave us what Tiffany gave us when she was leaving this season. Right. Like Xander didn't really like, what do you mean?
[00:35:11] Like, I feel like, again, there was just a lot of other things at play with Xander in the position that he's in, who he was up against. And Xander took the high roll. Right. Xander was like, Xander laid his game out. He didn't get nasty or flashy. And I'm saying he could have got a little nasty and a little flat. Like, like, but, and it probably wouldn't have worked. Right.
[00:35:37] Like, but I'm just saying this from the perspective as like Xander is my friend. Right. And I'm like, I know who you are. Get nasty. But I say that. Like with Tiff, when you're going out at five and you know, you're going out, it's more of the time to do that. Then if you're at three, your final tribal, we're going to cut out the jury. Like. Get nasty. In what way? I mean, like genuine quiet. Like, do you think that's more of like putting under people under the bus or like calling
[00:36:06] out certain jurors? Like calling people out or like, like again, and there is an act to it. But, but again, I just, my, and I'm probably just speaking from my perspective of like myself of like, I love Xander. And it's like, you don't got to be a humble king all the time. Like talk that ish, but different circumstances.
[00:36:30] Um, another thing that was interesting that tell me how you feel about this. Um, Mike White was not there. Uh, you know, he's filming White Lotus. And here's my thing, right? You think he was not filming White Lotus? Here's my thing. Whether he was filming White Lotus or not, my love, you could have flew in and flew out.
[00:36:56] Like you could have like, you, you like, I, I, like the date of Survivor fit. Like I, and this is a part of the reason why, like, I just didn't love Mike White on the season. Not that I don't like Mike White. I think like watching his first season, I thought that he was great. But like, I just hate when like, the thing about Survivor is no matter what your socioeconomic
[00:37:21] status is, no matter if you LaMelo Ball or Jack Atkins, whether like I'm just saying it. Like it levels and humbles us. And like, I just felt like, and we talked about it throughout the season where it's just like White Lotus overshadowed Mike White.
[00:37:42] And I did not love that on the season where I felt like people are more placating to a Mike White for a potential White Lotus status. And then it was just like, oh, what did you do? Like, first of all, okay. Cause I was reading a lot of the press. I believed three people that were pre-jury left, right? It was Q. It was Mike White. And who else?
[00:38:12] Like Ponderosa early? Correct. And it was someone else. I can't remember who it was. Maybe Kyle since he messed up. Oh, Kyle with the surgery. Right? So like, we get it. Jeff and CBS, y'all want a Survivor, White Lotus, you want to cross, whatever. But like, to say that while you was at Ponderosa, you wrote season four of White Lotus. Like, it just gets to a point.
[00:38:41] And that's my only thing. I like Mike White. I think he's great. But like, you should have been there. And like, your whole time on the show or the whole time on the reunion, like, I don't really. For me, it just reminds, we love White Lotus. We're going to watch anyway. Right? Like, it's not a thing of like a Zach. Brown, where it's like, I don't even know who this is. I'm not even listening to the music. Where it's like, you don't have to shove it down our throat. Like, the fact that Mike White is there, we get it.
[00:39:12] That's my hot take. I'm assuming you don't feel the same. And also, I was not expecting for the people to be on next season of the White Lotus to be Camilla and Charlie. Now listen, y'all had me there. That's all you had to do. You could have did that as a press release. In season four, I'm locked in. Charlie and Camilla? Are you kidding? Mm-hmm. Yeah. So, look, I wish he was at the finale, too.
[00:39:41] And he, you know, there's a world to fly in and out. Although, that's a long flight. But the thing is, I think he very well could have wanted to be at the finale. And they shifted the production schedule so that he could play Survivor 50. And the thing, Bryce, is, you know, as the director of White Lotus, if he leaves for however long to come to Survivor 50 finale, call it 48 hours.
[00:40:08] Everything going on, and this is me speaking as like an actor and a producer, everything going on gets put on ice. And so, that's two days off where you're paying for all of the cast, all of the crew, all of their hotels, their meals. That's probably, I don't know, 250K? Just to put it all on ice? What, multi-millionaire? Well, he's not paying for that. I mean, maybe he could pay for it out of pocket.
[00:40:37] But, yeah. He was also like the fifth one out of the season. It's like, and that's not, I can just see why if you're the fifth one out and they're like, hey, can we Zoom you anyways? You'd be like, sure. I guess I don't have to fly back. I'm just saying, for the live reunion, for the first one in 10 seasons. Or 11 or 12. I wish he was there, too. I wish he was there, too. Right, that's what I'm saying. And so, that for me was just like, ugh.
[00:41:05] And again, it just, to hype up the white notice of it all, it's just like, all right, chill. We're going to watch it, okay? It's a great season. Another amazing thing for me was the red carpet, right? Like, we got to see some winners and some Survivor players that we haven't seen in a really long time. Yeah. Vesepia, our first Black female winner, was there.
[00:41:30] She was a part of the diversity initiative that Wendell, myself, Jatia, Jamal Shipman, Sabrina, Julia Carter, and countless other people took part of. And so, like, to see Vesepia there was so great. To see Todd there. To see Ethan there. They had almost every winner there, right? Yeah. Almost everyone. Almost. You know, they invited him. I did not see Tony.
[00:42:00] Sarah Lucina was there. Sandra was there. Jam Jam was there. And again, like, I loved it all. Um, and I loved also, like, the way my for you and my algorithm was and still is to this day, Jack. Like, first of all, y'all know, y'all know Jack. Jack lives in Breeze Survivor. You know, I love Survivor.
[00:42:26] I like, you know, I have never in my life, I've never seen all of these Survivor creators before. Like, my algorithm is just flooded. And mind you, I've been loving it. I've been click, follow, click, follow. Ooh, love this take.
[00:42:43] Like, I have just the press around 50 and this finale, I feel like it's, it just gives a new life, a new insurgence to the season. And have you experienced that? Have you seen that? There are just so many people that I'm just like, what the hell? Like, how are you here? What's happening? But I love it. Yeah.
[00:43:08] Yeah, there was a, I saw, I had a friend that was there that sent me and my friend a video, like a little, and she was sitting next to Adam Scott, like the actor. I was like, that's Adam Scott. I just saw his new movie a couple weeks ago. So yeah, all the, all the big fans that showed out. It's really fun to see, you know, I know Billie Eilish wasn't there. And that's also my problem. Yeah.
[00:43:37] Like, she should have been there. She was with Mike White. She was with Mike White. Um, but no, I do, I do love it. I wish I was able to, I was glad I was able to attend the official after party. That was cool. But you literally, I see, you like look around the room. It's just survivor legends everywhere. It's like, damn, this is, this is wild. And I don't feel like y'all should have treated some of the people a little better. Like, you know, they were like, you know, I love amazing race. There are some amazing race people there.
[00:44:05] I'm watching their POV. They had binoculars. I'm like CBS. Again, love the blunder. Loved seeing Jeff on my TMZ and like talking about, uh, Rizzo blunder. And I love how. Did you see your baby boy Austin in the front row? Oh, I saw. Front and center with. I saw them. We couldn't FaceTime because he got an Android, but I text Amanda.
[00:44:35] Uh, he was there. Uh, I, there was so much. And again, also shout out to Q. Cause we didn't even, we talked about this in the beginning where. I almost feel like Jack sometimes like survivor needs to operate like the real housewives. Or maybe like you probably know summer house, right? Or you probably know like Vanderpump rules where conclude the season. Boom. Boom.
[00:45:03] And then the next week do the finale. It still can be live. It still can be shot live, but just like edited because I'm in New York and I'm like, oh, this is a live finale. I'm loving it. And instantly when they, when Jeff started doing those like spots, uh, throughout the episode of like interviewing people, I'm like, I know, I know this all too well. Like that means we're not going to ask questions, but like, I want the questions.
[00:45:31] A part of why I was so captivated is because I knew that there was tension. I like, you know, me behind the scenes. I know that there was tensions and people not wanting to see people. And that's what a reunion is for. And sometimes I feel like with survivor, we're like, oh, it's this wholesome show. No. Yeah. They like hate conflict for some reason now. You know, like, it's like they want to be like a family show. So they don't want to see how to feel like they don't want to see people calling each other out. But it's like that.
[00:46:01] So juicy. That's what we need. That Jack. And mind you, it's like, it's not that they don't like a conflict. It's like, they want to be able to edit the conflict and in a live reunion. And they can't, but that's why I'm saying treat it like a housewife. Film it live, have a live studio audience, and then play it the next week. Because when Q, when Quintavious got on that red carpet and was talking to Tyson, he was spilling the tea.
[00:46:28] He said him and Jonathan had some beef that they kind of worked out. But he said Joe and Tiffany had some beef that they was going back and forth. Tiffany and Aubrey. I was like, no, wait a minute. Tiffany and Aubrey. And the way I got excited, because it's like, I would have loved just a little bit. Well, I'm lying. I would have loved a lot of some back and forth. Like, put people to the pressure. Like, this is what I want to see.
[00:46:56] And we're going to do a reunion. Like, let's get, let's close some chapters. Let's not close some chapters. Let's talk about it. Because, baby. Best believe Jackery. If I would have went, because I was invited. To the lot. To the, you couldn't pass your ticket. Well, I mean, you know, you always like to call me out on my subtle lies.
[00:47:25] Well, Wendell was invited. He got a plus one. So listen, I was invited. You could be Wendell and I'll be Bryce. But. Next season. Next season. Next season. But, you know, sometimes they take the live questions. You know, people lying to Jack. The way I would have ran up. Hey, Jeff. Could anyone on the season talk about the Zoom Alliance?
[00:47:55] Right? Like, and like, I wanted stuff like that. Where it's like, what, what, what, what Zoom Alliance? And, and the exit press and in the red carpet. Baby, we got confirmation. Oh. I mean, we already got confirmation in Camilla and her exit interviews. But there was people talking. And also there was like so many content creators. Reenacting Stephanie's.
[00:48:28] Moment during the tribal council, which is just hilarious. Which. Oh, that one. I thought you meant her message to Eliza. I was like. I'm sure there are some. But I also rewatched it again. Because I told you when Jack texted me. I don't want to go another week without talking to you, Bryce. I said, Jack, you got my number. Call me. Well, I'm with a podcast. But. When I rewatched it. And again, when we recorded last week.
[00:48:58] I just was so tired. And so like. Not you saying. The reason I should give you two million dollars. Is because you cracked open coconuts every morning. Wait. When did I say that? No. That's what Stephanie said. During. Like. Right. She was like using like you cracking coconuts open every morning. Like you're a triple threat. The total package. Okay.
[00:49:29] Yeah. No, it was. I've been seeing a lot of like. Videos about that. It's pretty. Pretty funny. Is there a question? Like. Um. Yeah. Yeah. Second worst moment of the season for Steph. Um. Yeah. No, I. It was. I totally agree with you. I wish we had seen more of that. That's why I'm glad we're talking about it here. In other. You know. Talk about Survivor beefs. Rizzo and Charlie. Beefed during the season.
[00:49:59] But. Now it seems they have made up. I don't know if you saw the. Oh, I saw. Oh, I saw. That blew up. And. I also saw them both on. Tuesday last week. And they did some karaoke together. Uh. So they seemed like they were. You know. Good spirits. And that. That they're cool now. Which is. Hey. Those are two of my guys. So. We know. Y'all cut from the same cloth. But for two or three seconds. You know. Charlie and Rizzo's my little brothers. But in that.
[00:50:29] Video. Of them reenacting. Heating rivalry. Baby. I said. Charlie. Uh. Killed it. But yeah. Right. Like. Again. Just. The. Survivor. Ecosystem. Of like. All of the survivor people. That were out there. And just seeing the content. I love that. Right. And it's like. I wish. Survivor. Knew.
[00:50:59] How. Important it was. Because I. I have a sneaking suspicion. That I feel like. They're just like. It's season 50. This is it. Right. And it's like. I don't know. I just wish. How they're reposting. How they're commenting. Like. It's like. Keep the momentum going. Keep it up. You. This is every season. Yeah. And there's a lot of good survivor. Creators that have emerged. I think in the last few years too. Yes. And I see.
[00:51:28] Sometimes they'll pop up on my. My TikTok. And I'll see you. I left a comment. I'm sure you probably see the same. Opposite. But. No. It's fun. It's a great. Like you said. It's a great ecosystem. And I hope. Things continue in the right direction. For. For 51. And I hope. More of this drama. You know what I mean? Like. Yeah. And I did go back and watch. The 51. Teaser. Thoughts. I'm excited.
[00:51:58] Like. But again. Like I just. I'm not you. You. You. You love. For me. I'm like. Just. I need the first episode. I need to. I need to press photos. I need to. Like. But I am excited. And. What do you think of the. This new term. The open era. Is this like sexually speaking? I mean. I just was like. Wait. Wait. What is we doing? Okay. But listen.
[00:52:28] Yeah. I'm here for it. I'm excited about. The teaser. Outside of. I just like. Why do they feel the need now. To call everything. An era. Like. Because. Up until the new era. They had never done that. But people. I think. Had naturally coined. Right. What those eras were. Like. Old school. And then you had like. The dark ages. I think. As you call it. Which is like. 21 through 24. Um.
[00:52:58] But. I think. Like. It's too self-referential. Especially before. You know. Before it even happens. To be like. This is going to be. The blank era. It's like. We don't. You don't know what this era. Gotta let it happen. But it happened. And. Yeah. It's like. Or. Even if you think like. Historically. You think about eras. In history. You don't announce. What the new era. Is going to be. Before it happens. And then people are like. Oh. That was that. You know. So. When they was in the great. When they was going through. The great depression. Like.
[00:53:28] I don't think. Like. They was like. Well. Yeah. This is the great depression. Yeah. Especially. They weren't like. Day one. Like. Right. Exactly. So. And. I think. That that kind of speaks to. Again. Just. This is a slight criticism of Survivor. But only in. The best way. Because it's like. We're Survivor fans. Yeah. I. I'm with you. They want to put. A name. Like.
[00:53:57] Listen. Just. Create a body of work. Yeah. We got you. Right. Like. We got you. And I think. There was even. That Jeff Probst interview. Where like. Jeff was like. If you've ever. criticized Survivor. You're not listening to you. It's. Yeah. That's the thing. They keep trying to like. Reinvent the wheel. And find like. New ways to innovate. But the newest way to innovate. Especially now that you've. Had this resurgence. After like. COVID. And the new era.
[00:54:27] And 50. If. If the trailer had just been like. Brains versus Bravers. Beauty 3. And we'd all be like. Let's go. There's nothing else going on. Let's go. This is. Like. Literally give us a theme. And no crazy twist. And we will be on board. For me. They could have just been. Survivor. 50. One.
[00:54:57] With nothing else. That. And just show the clip. Like show the. Show all the stuff. But like. You know. But. I wish. The seasons had names again. I'm kind of sick. So do I. So do I. So do I. But. Again. Take it with a grain of salt. Because. There was a time when. Survivor. Survivor Philippines. Survivor Africa. Right. And then like. You go into the. David versus Goliath. Like. So. We're just. We're currently in the Great Depression. Right now. Right. We do.
[00:55:28] We got to get out of it. To call it that. So. Yeah. 10. 10 seasons. We about to go through like 20 seasons. I do wish. There were names though. I am with you. It'll be interesting though. You know. 52 is about to film. So within a month. Because they. They kind of leak the cast and stuff. Pretty quick after. Within a month. We'll kind of know. I think about 52. And I think that'll really help paint the picture of like. Where are things going with 51 and with 52. Well.
[00:55:56] And I think I had said this last time. On this. When we recorded with Laura. And I was like. Well 52 is really the determinant. Of the new season. And I'm lying. It's 53. Because. Again. It's 59. You know. That won't really know. It's 53. Because again. With 51. We had the hourglass. Both times. And they got the fan reaction. And they were like. We got to. Evolve it. So again. I definitely think at 51.
[00:56:26] 52. We're going to see some things. That we're not going to like. But we as fans. We can't say nothing. Because they're not going to listen. We just have to react. I don't know. I don't know how we should react. So that y'all should know. What y'all want us to watch. But. I definitely think. By 53. Is the start of. The open forum. Is that what they call it? The open era. But yeah. Open era. Yeah. Because it will be. And that's. That's the thing I'm curious about too. And I know this is. We're here more for the. The team breakdown. So we don't have to dive to it.
[00:56:56] But. They talked about. Everything that we've had. Is going to be in play. And to me. It's like. Does this mean that. We're going to have. Some different twists. And advantages. Just sort of sprinkled. Throughout the eras. That will be involved. Or is it like. Boom. Use your fire tokens. To buy an hourglass. And then flip the Mr. Beast coin. And it's all on the same episode. Because then I'm going to be. Very very much out. I took it. Me. And my rewatch. Right. Because you said this last time. And I was like. Oh my god.
[00:57:26] A whole season. Everything. I took it as. In the. The open era. Season 51. Through 59. 59. The Tyler. Harry Idol. May come back. Yeah. The Billy Irish. Boomerang. Might be like. It'll be sprinkled. Throughout the seasons. Like the beware of challenge. Like that's the way I took it. I was not like. They're about to just. Dump everything. I hope not. Well I guess. I guess that's a good point.
[00:57:56] Is if you're talking about an era. The open era. Then what they said. It's going to maybe occur over several seasons. So. That's. You know. The open era. If we're getting more old school. Like. More. Older. Survivor. And the advantages just happen to be. A little bit of a range. But they're just. Kind of all different stuff being brought in. But it's still sort of. It's not. An overabundance of it. It's just kind of. Throughout. The set of the. Throughout the era. Yeah.
[00:58:25] I think I could be okay with that. As long as. You know. We'll see. So I'm cautiously optimistic. We'll see. Are you ready to enter in your open. The open era. What's that mean? What are you taking to me? I'm open to. Getting another job. I'm open for work. You can put that on like your LinkedIn banner. Like. Open to work. Because my casting job. I'm supposed to start. That's been pushed back. Like. A week.
[00:58:55] But like. Three different times. And I'm like. I was supposed to start this. Three weeks ago. And every Friday. You call me and tell me about. Oh. You're supposed to start Monday. Another week. So. It's the open era. Listen. Yeah. So that has not been great. But other than that. We're good. But yeah. We're open to. You know. Whatever. Whatever. I have a very fun June coming up. So I'm open to whatever opportunities come my way. Oh. Okay. Well listen.
[00:59:24] Are you in your open era Bryce? I am. What's that mean to you? That means. Oh wait. Only thing open at the two o'clock in the morning is legs and they open. Okay. I'm in my open era. So come on. Come on. But I. I was glad you texted me because I was like you know normally I go into my deep hiatus after the Bryson Wynn tour. And so. Thanks for jumping on. Yeah.
[00:59:54] Thanks for having me. And we might have to speak. Guys let us know in the comments if you want us to. A. Maybe do a little bit more postseason coverage. And B. If you have any ideas on stuff you want us to talk about. I mean. Because I have ideas. I be. I be. Just. And I want y'all to know Posse. Okay. Jack texted me Saturday. We jumped on a podcast here. I'll be texting Jack. Some of my ideas.
[01:00:23] We ain't recording yet. Okay. So I just want y'all to know. This one was your idea. This one was your idea. I just gave you a post. I was like oh. Well. I. You said you wanted to. I suggested something else. And you suggested that we do like a. A dive into the drama. And I was like. I'm. I'm game. Okay. I'm just saying. Posse is trying to slander me. No I'm not Posse. I'm just trying to say. Speaking of ideas. Unlike. The producers of Survivor.
[01:00:53] We're open to hearing yours. So you know. We do listen. It's the open era. I haven't gotten into the comments. Of like the last videos. But I will. This week. Or after we record. But also. I do appreciate. The one thing I will say. Is I appreciate. The Posse. For always listening. And supporting. And I appreciate y'all. I think last couple of seasons. Y'all was cussing us out. Saying we wasn't giving our thoughts. And this and that. And. I feel like. Yeah.
[01:01:22] It was a little loose with it. Not loose with it. But. We didn't let. Pre-existing relationships. Right. And. Yeah. And I was in the comments. After the finale. And I just. I love seeing. So many people. Even just being like. I don't want this to end. Like I don't want the podcast to end. I was like. God. You know. We're just done with the season. But we'll be around. But that's what kind of. Motivated me to be like. There's kind of a hangover. That people. I feel like I get sometimes. Right when the season ends. And not the literal hangover. I had when I got up on. Like last Thursday morning.
[01:01:53] But I hang over like. Damn. Like. I miss having Survivor to watch. Every Wednesday. I miss talking to the baby boys. On Thursday. I'm sure you guys at home. Are like. Missing out on. Hearing the different. You know. Maybe our podcast. Maybe other podcasts. Obviously watching the show. So I'm like. We got to like. Wean ourselves off. With a couple episodes. To at least kind of. Send people on their merry way. Before we dive into 51 and 52. Yeah. And maybe we can. Definitely do another one. And we can.
[01:02:22] Take Wendeezy off of spring break. And we can bring them back. But so yeah. No. I love it. I appreciate the posse. I appreciate you. Jackery. Anytime I get to talk to you. I'm excited. So yeah. Let us know in the comments. What you think. Tell us something we missed. Send the link. Yes. There's more drama. We don't know about it. Because also. Wait. Jack. What was the show? Oh wait. We have to talk about this. So there also was. Not to jump on the Jonathan. Oh. Yeah.
[01:02:52] Hit me dude. They were like. Jonathan hasn't changed. Who knew Jonathan was on. A reality show. When he was 13. I did. Still kind of giving the same energy. And so I sent it to Jack. Jack was like. That was my favorite show. I loved it. What set us up? Okay. So. Jonathan was on this show. Called endurance. Which is like. Kids survivor. So everyone was like. 11 to 14.
[01:03:22] And they'd be in duos. Like boy and girl duos. And be like a. You know. A different team color. And then I believe there would like. Be a challenge. And like. The winning. The team that lost. Got sent to like. The temple of fate. I believe it's called. And then the team that won. Got to pick another team. To also send to the temple of fate. And then like. They had to compete. Essentially in like. A game of like. Rock paper scissors. A little bit more elaborate. And the losing team would go home. But.
[01:03:53] They were like. You know. One was in like. I think Jonathan's was in Fiji. One was in like. The high Sierras. Like. You know. They were like. All over. So they're like. Living in the woods and stuff. And they had some really fun challenges. But you know. As a kid. This is before I even knew about Survivor. But. Because literally. I wanted to go on endurance. When I got old enough. So I was watching. Like people were like. 11 to 14. So this was my show. When I was like. 9 and 10. And so. Did you apply?
[01:04:23] What's up? Did you apply? No. It got canceled before I turned 11. So. But it was my. I remember my buddies and I would like. Talk about it at school. Like at. In the lunchroom. But I literally remember. Like. I think Jonathan's season was like. The first season I watched. Or the second season. And I literally remember like. The opening challenge was. They were on this like. Beach in Fiji. That was in between. Two sides of the ocean. It was like a little. Isthmus. I guess you could say. Okay. And they had to like.
[01:04:53] Run back and forth. And like fill up buckets of water. And I was like. In my house. Like running back and forth. Like filling up a bucket of water. But it was. I was like. Obviously. It makes sense. Why when I discovered Survivor. I was kind of on board. Pretty quick. Were. Were you rooting for Jonathan? I mean. I don't. Really remember back then. You know. Like. But I. I definitely like. When I. When I realized during 42. That he had been done on it. Can I say to you.
[01:05:24] Back up. Can I say it differently. So you can do it. Or what. I was backing up. Okay. No way. I lost five balls. That she could have caught. And she wouldn't listen to me. She wouldn't back up. Something don't change. Literally. And he like. It's weird that he like. Sort of looks the same. But obviously. Kind of. Like. He's so different now. But. But no. I don't. I mean. I. I don't know. Like. If I was. Who I was rooting for. But I did. When I found out during 42.
[01:05:54] That he was on. I like. Did remember. Him. From that show. In my mind. So. Kind of crazy. But it was. It was a great show. I mean. Well. When you're like. 10 especially. I don't know now. If I would like. Watch that. You would. Okay. You would. All right man. But okay. Well. It's a posse. We love. Y'all. You know. We had to jump back on it. To cover all the things that we missed. We will be back soon. This has been your. Jack and Bryce.
