[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_01]: We had an idol play.

[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_01]: We had a variance play.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Bryce, I'm feeling amazing.

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_02]: It's the finale of this episode

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_02]: and this whole experience has just been so incredible

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_02]: and we have so much to talk about.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_02]: If I could describe my Survivor Philly experience,

[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I would describe it as the Mona Lisa.

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Because it's so beautiful.

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_02]: And if I could frame it and put it in a museum, I would but I can't.

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to frame it and put it in my heart.

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_02]: But even more so, Bryce, you know what?

[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_02]: This podcast with you

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_02]: and being able to talk with you, share with you,

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_02]: share with family and friends

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_02]: and other players for my season has been even more incredible too.

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_01]: But we love a good Vincent Van Gogh painting on the Purple Pants podcast.

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I have to echo that sentiment to me.

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I think this past weekend there was a Survivor Philadelphia Season 3

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: wrap party where the contestants from Survivor Season Philly 1,

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_01]: 2 and 3 all got together at Melanie's house

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_01]: and Wendell and I were there

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_01]: and we got to watch the episode with everyone.

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And we was in Melanie basement,

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_01]: but we was all tightly in there.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And it was just so much fun to just be there

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_01]: and to take in the final moments

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_01]: and just really see the community that Alex G has helped put together.

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And it really was like a family I would describe it as a friends giving.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_01]: They were just so excited to see people from Season 1, Season 2,

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_01]: the current cast and just it really felt so much fun

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and I was so happy that I was able to be there.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Mind you, our girl Paige was there.

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I was scared to see Paige.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I said, hey, Paige.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And Paige, Mind you, first of all, shout out to Paige

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_01]: because Paige eats.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_01]: There was a part of the episode or I don't know,

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_01]: it might have been a little break and Amir was there.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Amir looked great.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I was so excited to see Amir.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And Paige said Amir.

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_01]: You still don't know what my voice sounds like.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And Amir didn't know what to say,

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: but it was just really so much fun.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And it just really loved the community that Alex G has built with the Survivor

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Season 3 of Survivor Philadelphia.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just so excited to be a part of it.

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so excited to make these connections.

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that is really special and I think that

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I talk about this all the time.

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Like sometimes I played the actual game with Survivor.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't really go far.

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And the most memorable things about my Survivor experience

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_01]: is like really the connections that I get to make.

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And I really kind of extend that to even Survivor Philadelphia

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_01]: because it really is a family.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_01]: So I was so excited just to see everybody,

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_01]: of course to see Timmy, but to see everyone.

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_01]: It was really amazing and fun.

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, absolutely, Bryce.

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_02]: And like thank you again to Melanie for hosting it.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_02]: And it was great to see you again, Bryce.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And then Wendell too in person.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And just everybody really was a great, amazing time truly.

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't have no beef with Natasha and no beef with Manfred.

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, we all buddy, buddy.

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_02]: So it was a great time catching up with everybody.

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_02]: But you know what else is a great time, Bryce?

[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_02]: This finale of Survivor Philly Season 3

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_02]: because right after this intro,

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_02]: we go right into the challenge for Final Five.

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_02]: This challenge is called Step and Stones

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_02]: where you are given two blocks that are placed on the ground

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_02]: and you have to go to a finish line only without touching the ground,

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_02]: only using those blocks as your floor.

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_02]: So essentially it's like the floor is lava, right?

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_02]: But you only have these two blocks that you have to step on

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_02]: in between and carry those blocks,

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_02]: putting one in front of you as you march toward the finish line.

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's fun to watch that episode

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and just fun to think of like how creative the casting

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_01]: or the props or the, I don't know what department

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_01]: that is in the Survivor Philadelphia

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_01]: to come up with these like such fun games to actually watch.

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And as a viewer watching it back,

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_01]: it was really fun to actually watch.

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Now tell me what happened to me.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so like the biggest thing from this challenge

[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_02]: because we got a lot of them to run through,

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_02]: we see that it's tough, right?

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm watching this in Melanie Basement and I'm like,

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_02]: this is tough.

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_02]: And everybody's like, yeah, this is tough

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_02]: because they literally at this point have to been all the way down

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_02]: to move these blocks while they're standing straight up.

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_02]: And if they touch the ground or if they, you know,

[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_02]: try to adjust, you have to start over.

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_02]: The smartest thing that happened from this

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_02]: was I think Sunshine took the phrase one step at a time, literally,

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_02]: because instead of moving the blocks in front of each other

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_02]: and balancing on one foot, Sunshine grabs his whole foot

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_02]: on that block and he just moved his foot.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_02]: So he literally went one foot at a time.

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_02]: And ultimately he comes out on top

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_02]: and wins this immunity challenge for the final five.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And is Sunshine's first immunity challenge win this whole season, right?

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. It's his first win.

[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_02]: He won it with a tough challenge.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_02]: It was Manfred that was close behind who picked up on the strategy

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_02]: as Sunshine was picking up on it.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_02]: But Sunshine was the one to take it all the way.

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. Well, congratulations to Sunshine.

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_01]: What a win and such a crucial point in the game.

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_01]: It makes me think again of Survivor where it's like

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_01]: sometimes people want to win immunity challenges early on,

[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_01]: but for real, for us, like, do you even really need to win immunity challenges?

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, well, clearly you do sometimes if your name is Timmy.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_01]: But sometimes it's all about the timing, right?

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Like it's really the right timing that can kind of like propel

[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_01]: you into the next phase of the game.

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Because Sunshine says it himself,

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_02]: he predicts that this final five trouble is going to be wild.

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_02]: He knows that there's idols and advantages out there.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, Manfred has the idol page has this very advantage.

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And the only other thing he knows at this point is he's safe.

[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_02]: And his name ain't been it, but he's not in it when it comes to

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_02]: who's going to be out at this final five tribal council.

[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_01]: It's the way that Sunshine know everything because I just,

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I believe in my hearts of hearts.

[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Before anybody knew Sunshine knew that on Easter Sunday,

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_01]: when they rolled away the tomb, I believe two weeks before Sunshine was like,

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_01]: he ain't going to be there.

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_01]: He ain't going to be there because Sunshine know everything.

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_02]: He do, he do.

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_02]: And right after Sunshine wins, we go to camp, right?

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And at this camp, we are seeing players sort of scramble to see what's going to happen.

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_02]: There's rumors about Paige's advantage because Manfred thinks that she's going to play it.

[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't know exactly what it is, but it's something out there.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Gabe at this point is also trying to, at this point, be like a referee in a dodgeball tournament.

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_02]: He's going to let these two teams throw these votes,

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_02]: aka these dodgeballs at each other, and he's just going to be the person in the middle.

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's his game plan for this final five.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And then we see Ryan come up with the strategy of maybe shifting

[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_02]: what his final tribal council pairing looks like.

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_02]: But he makes one final mistake.

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Because he goes up to Sunshine and Gabe, his final three, and says,

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I think we should take Paige to the end.

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_02]: She would be better to sit next to.

[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_02]: And so Gabe is like, okay, if it's a final three,

[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_02]: if it's two childs, and now plus never equals present,

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_02]: okay, then I was Paige going to get to the end.

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_02]: If we're the people who are going to go to the end with.

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So which one of us is she replacing?

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_01]: At that very moment, I believe Gabe had a flashback to the shopping block.

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Remember that challenge?

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And who was the first person to get all of their strings cut off?

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_01]: It was Gabe.

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Gabe.

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Gabe might have been born at night.

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_01]: But I tell you, I don't know at this point in time,

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_01]: it's the vibe of Philadelphia might have been 730, 745, 620.

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Gabe wasn't born last night though.

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I said no.

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_01]: What a way for Gabe to speak up.

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_02]: And to me, it's so interesting that this is the final five

[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_02]: because this is literally the entire swapped tribe.

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Like this whole final five is the same tribe that started off.

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_02]: I see this as this is the Jackson five because this whole game,

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_02]: they've been in harmony.

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_02]: They've been playing with each other, making moves with each other,

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_02]: just singing all the while, right?

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Timmy, who the hell is Michael and who the hell is Tito?

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a good question because the thing is, Bryce,

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if they know it can only be one Michael.

[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_02]: It can only be one Michael.

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Is Paige Janet or Latoya?

[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a good question.

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_02]: So we're going to do a little revisionist history.

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to put her as Janet,

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_02]: but as if Janet was in the original Jackson five, right?

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_02]: So we're going to switch it up a little bit,

[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_02]: but the Jackson family at this point, the Jackson.

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_02]: That's right.

[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_02]: The Jackson's.

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_01]: You still ain't answering my question.

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Who is MJ?

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Now mind you, I'm feeling like

[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I actually might give it to Gabe.

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I might.

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to say Ryan, but I feel like Ryan gives me.

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to think of who the other brothers is Tito.

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Ryan give me Jermaine.

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. Sunshine Tito and Gabe is MJ.

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_02]: And I agree with that too.

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I think the only thing I would say,

[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I could see MJ also being Ryan too in this situation.

[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I could see it too, because Ryan got the moves.

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. We know Ryan can.

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Ryan is if to me, Ryan's a show horse.

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Like Ryan is like he shows up for the camera.

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So I could very much see that.

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. And speaking of moves, even though we not moonwalking,

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_02]: it's something else in this game that's going to switch it up

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_02]: and turn things around because we are getting ready to head into

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Tribal Council and it looks like the target is going to be Manfred

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_02]: because Paige comes up with a strategy of telling Manfred

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_02]: and other players two different things when it comes to her journey.

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_02]: She says that she got a chance to talk to the jury

[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_02]: and they said the biggest threat is Ryan is what she tells Manfred.

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's say everybody else, she says the biggest threat is Manfred himself.

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_02]: So it looks like Manfred is going to be the target.

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_02]: There's this plan for her to use her variance advantage

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_02]: and Manfred to go out in the second round.

[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And this is where it gets cool, Bryce,

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_02]: because we see with the goodness of Alex G, a flash forward.

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_02]: So we know the variance is going to be played, right?

[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_02]: The question is, is the idol going to be played?

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Who is the idol is going to be played for?

[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_02]: How is this advantage going to switch up the game?

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_02]: And this is when it happens, Bryce.

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_02]: This is when the sun and the moon meet

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_02]: and this eclipse because this whole game is going black for somebody.

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_02]: And Alex G announces anybody got an idol advantage.

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Manfred stands up, he plays it for himself.

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm thinking, okay, it's been to be votes, right?

[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_02]: We just want to get to the votes.

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Manfred is safe like I'm here for it.

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm room for him.

[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Here come this little hourglass out of the voting earn.

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, what's that?

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's when he says it's a revolt.

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Everybody has to revolt, but not for the person who just voted for it.

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And when I say I was shocked, Bryce, I was shocked.

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_01]: The looks on their faces when Alex G read that.

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Now, first of all, I feel like Alex G explained the variance

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_01]: to us early on in the episode.

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Babe, I was in Melody Basement like, no way.

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_01]: What is happening here?

[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Because that kind of really, it really changes the target up.

[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Right now it's like not only you can't vote for who you voted for,

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_01]: now you have to think, well, where can the votes go now?

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I know where they can't go.

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_02]: because for Manfred, he feels he has to win to get to the end.

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_02]: He just played an idol that we're going to come for him.

[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_02]: He's a big target at this point.

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_02]: And Gabe even said to himself,

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_02]: he didn't expect himself to do this great in the challenge.

[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_02]: He thinks he's been doing me more mid than like

[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_02]: the middle of a sandwich, right?

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_02]: So he's thinking he can't really do anything great at this moment,

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_02]: but what happens is Gabe ultimately beats Manfred in this challenge.

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's when we get a really big emotional moment from Manfred

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_02]: because he wanted this so bad.

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_02]: And I feel him on that because he did at that point need to win

[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_02]: to get to the very end.

[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_02]: And for him to fall so short in that moment

[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_02]: and to see that raw emotion reflected

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_02]: from Alex G's editing and the cinematography of it all.

[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Because I'm talking they upgraded that camera.

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like that camera went from a great camera to

[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_02]: we film in euphoria camera, like the big ones that be on your shoulder

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_01]: It sucks about that though, because honestly, like

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_01]: when I'm thinking of Manfred's arc, right?

[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_01]: He got to the end of a lot of these challenges.

[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Like Manfred was a beast in these challenges

[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's like, according to the jewelry,

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Manfred is running this game

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's like he's another one where it's like,

[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I felt like Manfred was hiding in plain sight

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_01]: where we as viewers could see that he's killing it.

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_01]: But I really feel like he did a good job of kind of like

[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_01]: assimilating into the tribe, kind of working with Paige.

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_01]: He had his blow up with you, but Manfred fell to idle.

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_01]: He seemed to be on the right side of the boat.

[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_01]: The majority of the time he seemed to be in the know.

[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Although I did he wasn't really in

[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_01]: with like the sunshine and Ryan.

[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_01]: He was in a different fraction, which was like him and Paige

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_01]: and like at times Gabe was way over there

[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_01]: even though we knew that Gabe was with Ryan and sunshine.

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_01]: But like I really think that Manfred held his own so much

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_01]: and it wasn't until this moment that

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like Manfred killed it and had he won this,

[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like Manfred could have potentially took this home.

[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Like he has the resume.

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.

[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I saw it from the jump, which is why I called him out.

[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Like in this game, Manfred is an animal.

[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Manfred is an invisible cheetah because

[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_02]: you can't see the threat that's in front of you.

[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_02]: But when you do see it, it's too late

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_02]: because he's going to sprint and it's going to be your game

[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_02]: that's out of the picture.

[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And for other people to not recognize that until it was too late

[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_02]: it's over for their game.

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_02]: But for him to again get so far

[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_02]: and almost had that victory because I would have been

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Manfred's number one fan in the bleachers we called a jury

[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_02]: about this man's game, what I saw from the very beginning

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_02]: because I was watching him, which is why I called him out

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_02]: because I saw it.

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, again, Manfred killed it.

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely killed it.

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Do you in hindsight, do you wish maybe you worked

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_01]: a little closer with Manfred?

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_02]: I do think me and Manfred could have ran a game together.

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Like Manfred and Paige really ran the game together.

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I think because I was able to see some of those spots

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_02]: on that cheetah even when it was invisible,

[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I might have jumped the gun and stopped myself

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_02]: from being in this race with the cheetah

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_02]: before the gun even went off to go.

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_02]: But we do see that eventually, even if you're working

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_02]: with Manfred at this point like Paige was,

[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_02]: they had to turn on each other at some point for sure.

[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's the nature of the game.

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_01]: It only can be one winner.

[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think Fahyitra Park said it

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_01]: on Dancing With The Stars last night.

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Somebody got to go home.

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_01]: If somebody going to win, somebody has to go home.

[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_02]: he intentionally goes out for the purple blocks

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_02]: because purple was his favorite color of one of his best friends

[00:24:48] [SPEAKER_02]: who had passed away before.

[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_02]: And to have that moment of connection with something

[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_02]: as simple as a color, a color that is so known,

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_02]: especially for this podcast and especially for what we do, Bryce,

[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_02]: and have that be his fuel he needed for that victory

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_02]: was amazing in my opinion and great, an incredible moment.

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_01]: So the camera wasn't as clear with Manfred,

[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_01]: but like, you know, you could see the emotion

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_01]: on Sunshine talking about his friend.

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And that really just was to be in the room

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_01]: with everyone watching this in Melanie's basement

[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_01]: and to look over and to like see Sunshine

[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and his girlfriend and just to see him

[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_01]: like kind of relive that moment again.

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_01]: It was just really, really special.

[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And I really feel like throughout this whole season

[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_01]: people's loved ones have been showing up.

[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, Manfred is the name of pages,

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_01]: grandfathers best friend, like just so many

[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_01]: different connections that I thought again,

[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_01]: that's not a coincidence.

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, I feel like this cast was brought together

[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_01]: for a reason and so it was really special to see

[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_01]: and share that and to rewatch that.

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a strong believer of everything happens for a reason.

[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Sunshine went in had to happen for a reason

[00:26:28] [SPEAKER_02]: for this challenge and we see that he gets

[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_02]: the final decision of choosing

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_02]: who he wants to sit next to at the end.

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_02]: And we go straight into Tribal Council

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_02]: where Page's pitch is our games are similar.

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_02]: We have a better chance of fighting against each other

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_02]: than you find against Gabe,

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_02]: who's clearly the underdog and it's clearly

[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_02]: from a tribe that was decimated in terms of

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_02]: their chance going far in the game.

[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_02]: And Gabe's pitch is my game is different from yours,

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_02]: but how is your game different from Page's?

[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_02]: How is that going to help you stand out

[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_02]: in this final Tribal Council?

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's with a heavy heart that Sunshine

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Sunshine decides to vote out Page at this moment.

[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And Bryce, I felt that one.

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_02]: That one felt like not just an arrow going through my heart.

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_02]: That felt like a spear going through my chest

[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_02]: because I just knew it was going to be a final three

[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_02]: and I just knew I had my vote pre-written

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_02]: at this point for Page to win.

[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Just like I got my mail in ballot on the way

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_02]: for this upcoming election.

[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's going to fill it out before November.

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_02]: That's how my vote was going to be filled out for Page

[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_02]: at that moment.

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_02]: And to have that twist be because Amir didn't come back

[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_02]: during the merge challenge

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_02]: where the sands of time players had the chance

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_02]: to re-enter the game.

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_02]: That twist of Amir not winning,

[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_02]: changing the game from a final three

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_02]: to a final two really shook up things

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_02]: and shake things up for sure.

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Again, it has me reflecting on everyone's game.

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like I was hard on Page this season

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_01]: because that's how I felt.

[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_01]: However, I also feel like I felt that way

[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_01]: because she really was out here surviving.

[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_01]: She really was the last woman standing.

[00:28:35] [SPEAKER_01]: She really had to navigate through this space.

[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_01]: She tried to get the girls together.

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_01]: It didn't work.

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_01]: She had to work with Manfred.

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_01]: She had to, you know, she got an advantage.

[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Her advantage essentially shook up the game

[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and got rid of Ryan,

[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_01]: who everyone had been trying for a long time.

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I really do think that Page's presence was felt.

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And again, I think it's like only in these moments

[00:28:57] [SPEAKER_01]: when you can think and reflect back and be like,

[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_01]: wow, Page really was that girl out there.

[00:29:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And it really does have me questioning though.

[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I wonder how the votes would have shook out

[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_01]: if it were Sunshine and Page.

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_02]: That would have been a tough one.

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know because in my opinion,

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_02]: even if it's a final three, I think Page sweeps.

[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe not every single vote from the jury,

[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_02]: but I think a vast majority because Page was playing

[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_02]: a great social game underneath everything

[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_02]: that we didn't get to see.

[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Page had connections with people that were rich and deep.

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I'm talking if somebody's social game is a stream

[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_02]: at this point, Page's social game is an ocean

[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_02]: because that's how deep the connections she was creating,

[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_02]: even in the little amount of time that we had

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_02]: with each other in between these rounds.

[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And if it is a different story and we see Page and Manfred,

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I do think Page taking this out takes the win out at the end.

[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_02]: But even on the point of Page,

[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_02]: something I wanted to mention was she opens up

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_02]: about how hard it was to vote out other women in the game

[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_02]: and to be again, the last woman standing takes a lot of strength.

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_02]: And for her, I want to give her flowers for that

[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_02]: because this game is tough in itself

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_02]: and it's even tougher when you're the odd person out for sure.

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_02]: So again, flowers to Page for that.

[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Like that's mother for real, both figuratively and literally now.

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I want root for the underdog.

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I think where Gabe disappointed me at a little bit

[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_01]: was I still kind of feel like he took on that same line

[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_01]: of what we have been seeing this whole season.

[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And I really wish he would have flipped it.

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I wish it would have come out a little differently

[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_01]: when people were asking their questions,

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I really felt like Jasmine, shout out to my girl Jasmine.

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I really felt like she asked the question that I would have asked

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_01]: because Jasmine said, Gabe, why do you feel like

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_01]: your original tribe is against you

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_01]: or all of the members are against you?

[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And when did you just go full fair amount and say F Roxboro?

[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Because like, that's what I really wanted to know.

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think he really answered it.

[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_02]: people gonna dance, but they weren't dancing.

[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_02]: So he like, well, I mean, I guess Halloween is canceled.

[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_02]: We going on the Thanksgiving and Christmas

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_02]: and he put on my ride, Carrie at that point.

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's when he saw the dancing happening.

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_02]: That's we saw the singing.

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_02]: And so at this point, Halloween is not just Emma.

[00:33:01] [SPEAKER_02]: It's also the entire purple tribe

[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_02]: and Christmas happens to be the Fairmount tribe.

[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_02]: So it was those different moments, I think,

[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_02]: that gave an answer to me in my opinion.

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_02]: But I agree that was a great question for Jasmine to ask

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_02]: because when did that happen?

[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_02]: How did this happen?

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, and we know you had it rough in the beginning

[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and that, you know, things weren't shaking out.

[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, when Ben got out, like, you know,

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_01]: you could have been able to move and shake.

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, I'm not mad.

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_01]: He went to survivor mode.

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And so it's like, I get it.

[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you have to go where the numbers go.

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And clearly his instinct led him to the right spot

[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_01]: because he's in number two.

[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_01]: But I do think that Sunshine really ate in the end

[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_01]: where he just was talking about the knowledge of the game,

[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_01]: so many things that he knew that he held back.

[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And again, I don't care what nobody said.

[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_01]: It's called black male sunshine.

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_01]: OK, because if you know where the bones are laid,

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_01]: but I'm not mad.

[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think what I respect the most about Sunshine's game

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_01]: was it almost it really does remind me of a Gabler's type

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_01]: of game.

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Like it's not loud.

[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not flashy.

[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_01]: But Sunshine has been there.

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Sunshine has been present.

[00:34:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Sunshine has been like making slow and precise movements.

[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And it really just reminds me that sometimes it's like,

[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_01]: This is a random saying, but what they say, the louder the dog or

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_01]: the louder the bark, the louder the bark, the little less the bite.

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that is Sunshine is living proof of that

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_01]: because, well, one, Sunshine ain't barking.

[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Sunshine just being.

[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Sunshine said, woof.

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And then Sunshine had me where he was like,

[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_01]: OK, because I love how he incorporated that and talked about that

[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_01]: because I thought that was so interesting.

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like and you when you go back and see throughout the episode,

[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Sunshine continuously offering.

[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I feel like at one of the tribal councils,

[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I remember Manfred like you got some jerky like a man for this

[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_01]: eating jerky at the at a tribal.

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_01]: So it's like, I just loved how like these small, the face paint,

[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_01]: like these small things that like this man was intentional about.

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_02]: And we was not only like, go ahead.

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_02]: No, no.

[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we were not only eating at the palm of his hand,

[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_02]: but we were quite literally eating at the palm of his hand

[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_02]: in this game because he was provided stuff and everything

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_02]: that happened was to the purpose of him winning.

[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think he did a great job at communicating that,

[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_02]: especially at Final Tribal Council.

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I like to describe this whole game, Bryce, as like a normal day

[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_02]: because it's the dawn of the final episode.

[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_02]: We got there early in the morning.

[00:36:12] [SPEAKER_02]: The sun is not really shining, it's peaking,

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_02]: but as the day goes on, the sun gets higher and higher in the sky

[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_02]: and it gets brighter and brighter.

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's the kind of game that Sunshine had.

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And once we got a little bit of sun, we got a little bit of light.

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And next thing you know is midday Final Tribal Council

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_02]: and we got a whole lot of Sunshine.

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_02]: And on those parchment was a whole lot of Sunshine

[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_02]: and he is the winner of this season.

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_02]: For me, Bryce, it was tough.

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_02]: It was a tough vote.

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_02]: It was a tough vote because I respected Gabe's game so much

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_02]: and we almost got the chance to really work closely together.

[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_02]: And Sunshine, I was mad.

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I was a little mad.

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_02]: My question was a little bitter.

[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_02]: We ain't going to talk about that one.

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_02]: It was a little bitter, right?

[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_02]: But you know, he's the one that takes home the dub

[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_01]: has changed the landscape of this game
