[00:01:02] Brooke and I are back covering episode 6. It is definitely a fast forward episode. We see our first fast forward this season. We are skydiving, we are making pastries with a very delicious chef, I might add, and we have a race to the finish this episode, so let's get into this week's Pit Stop.
[00:01:27] Pit Stop. Pit, Pit, Pit, Pit, Stop. It's a Pit Stop. Pit, Pit, Pit, Pit, Stop. It's a Pit Stop. Pit, Pit, Pit, Pit, Stop. Pit, Pit, Pit, Stop. Pit, Pit, Stop. Pit, Pit, Stop. [00:01:50] I am joined by the most fantastic dog owner, new microphone having, beautiful winner of Amazing Race Season 29, Miss Brooke Cam. Hi. How are you? Hi. I have a new present. Thank you for my new present. Oh my God. I love it. I feel like I sound so fantastic today. You all sound fantastic.
[00:02:19] I am so excited to chat this week. I'm upset. We, for anyone who hasn't seen it, please go watch our exit interview with the eliminated team. See how I did that? So that if you can only watch this because they be yelling. Okay. I'm going to get out. Well, Christ, not me. I'm doing it right. I love the team who got eliminated. I cried three times last night. Well, yes. And I've now seen the episode three times. So I've cried nine times over this episode so far.
[00:02:48] It pulled at my heart. But I loved this one. This one was perfection. It was. Again, I've been saying this all season. I got a couple of gripes. I have three gripes. But so I've been saying all season, what I've been saying about Amazing Race season 37. It is. It's like homage, homage to old school Amazing Race.
[00:03:17] First of all, when we did our summer rewatch of season five, if you haven't checked it out, go check it out. They were in Dubai. And wow, what a world of difference it looks. It's also getting them, seeing them sleep together. These challenges. So great. I was literally pins and needles watching the end of this episode. But before we get into this episode, you know, it's a lot of Amazing Race news happening. And so I feel like we should talk a little bit about it.
[00:03:44] One of the things that I want to talk about is from one of the current teams, Jonathan and Anna. We know Jonathan has had a rough couple of weeks. His edit or what has happened has not been great. However, I did say last week during the episode that like something seems off, right? Like, is it like, is he having a medical episode? What seems off?
[00:04:05] Because the way Jonathan was just sleeping or taking a nap on that surfboard, it didn't seem like the Jonathan that we know. And so Jonathan and Anna have a YouTube recap show. First of all, shout out to all of this Amazing Race season because it seems like they all are podcasters. They all have episodes. I only knew like three of them.
[00:04:31] And now it's like five of them and I've got to listen to all of them. So I, Jonathan and Anna released an episode of last week. And Jonathan talks about what, you know, the elephant in the room. Just really quickly, side note, whoever did their background scaping, perfection. It looks great. Whoever edits their videos, if you go to YouTube, let me just, I want to just make sure I show them some love.
[00:04:58] Their YouTube channel, because I don't know if Jonathan is a YouTube wizard, but their background, their intro, the road less traveled is their instant YouTube name. And their graphics in a video is great. But anyway, Jonathan talks about what had happened. He had a rough couple of weeks. He lets us know that after they filmed the race, things didn't sit right with him or Anna. Like it was, it was out of his character of like the things that were happening.
[00:05:28] And it looks like Jonathan has done work. He's been in therapy, met with doctors, got tests. And he actually like revealed on his YouTube that he has autism. He has autism spectrum disorder. And a lot of the things make sense. If you listen to the YouTube, he packs like four hats, two sunglasses, 16 chapsticks.
[00:05:50] Because like if he lost one, he would kind of like go into a meltdown and giving the extreme heat and all of these things. And the thing that I liked the most about listening to his video, because I'll be honest, I'm like, are they, is this a PR stunt? Are we just trying to, you know, kind of save face? The thing that I respected the most about Jonathan in this is that like, he doesn't use this as an excuse, right? Like he doesn't say like, this is the reason why, like.
[00:06:20] He explains to us his body reaction. And so I thought that that was, for me, especially like a black man seeing a man of color talk about mental health. Talk about these things that we don't normally get to see. I just have a lot of respect for Jonathan. And I think that he's not saying, hey, I acted this way. He's saying like, this is a part of what played into it. So I thought it was some accountability. And so I would much respect to that.
[00:06:45] So if you haven't checked it out, make sure you check it out and listen to Jonathan and Anna. Now, here's the doing the work. Yes. Okay. Because they're respectful and commendable. A hundred. Absolutely. Pivot a little bit. Because, you know, let's pivot to Amazing Race season 39. We know that they've been filming. I have muted. And that's probably why I don't know that these people have podcasts.
[00:07:13] Because I've muted Amazing Race on all of my social medias because I don't want any spoilers of this season. However, I have a co-host named Brooke Camhy. Hello. That texted me yesterday. And I couldn't. I had woke up from a nap. I couldn't. Like, Brooke texted me. Let me actually. Don't read the text. It was gibberish. Come on. It was gibberish. I got notified. No, no, no, no.
[00:07:41] It was the Amazing Race fan of Brooke. Like, oh my God, Bryce. 911. Wake up. Amazing Race is finishing in New York. I just got a pin. I'm putting on clothes. I'm going to go down there and see if I can see them. I was reading. It's like mostly a falsehood. That's not exactly how that happened. Okay. You didn't start the text message 911. I did not start the text message 911. 911. Wake up, Bryce. The Amazing Race is finishing in New York.
[00:08:11] I'm putting on clothes. I'm getting on the subway. I'm following the Reddit trail. And I'm going to see if I can see. I said, so. Amazing Race has wrapped. Okay. It just said, it seems, it started, it seems the Amazing Race finale. Girl, she started it off 9-1-1. Okay. No 9-1-1 on this. It seems the Amazing Race finale for season 38 is here in New York City.
[00:08:38] So a few racers are considering grabbing lunch and trying to find a clue box. 9-1-1. How is that? Get your ass out of bed and come to New York City and run around with me. Side note. No, answer the question, Brooke. I'm a master who rode like 17 miles plus. No, it has me more than that. Around New York City looking for clue boxes. I did not do that. I had fun. We had lunch. So the Amazing Race has wrapped. And so I'm excited for when this season comes out.
[00:09:07] So I just wanted to report that to you all. But I don't know. I don't want to know anything. Don't write nothing in it about it because I want to watch the season. Again, this season is like 75% of people that I know and my friends. So I'm super excited. But it's just exciting. Another Amazing Race season has wrapped. So listen, the pit slot will be back. Well, we are coming back this summer for another summer rewatch. We do need your help. What season should we watch? Brooke has suggested some seasons, but we'd love to hear from you.
[00:09:35] So let us know in the YouTube comments or Instagram or send Brooke a 911 text message via DM and let her know which season we should watch. I like that. I have two things. One, I want to take 30 seconds and do a shirt appreciation to you because your shirt, which I assume is Britney Spears' I'm a slave for you with, oh my God. That's. Baby. I want that shirt. I'm going to need to find that shirt. Don't you wanna. Women's extra. That's all on it. Okay. I can send it to you. Love it. Don't send me your shirt.
[00:10:05] Okay. And then two. Okay. One, you're done. That's fine. Go ahead. For you. Okay. Two extra points. If you can name the, where this performance was. At the MTV Video Music Awards. And there was water that came down. I know exactly what you're talking about. I remember this. I was, I was, yeah. Very. I wasn't born yet, but I read about it. Okay. That's very not true. Well, you're a young boy of 12. And so, yes, you weren't born yet.
[00:10:35] Okay. So the other thing is this. If I would like, this is call to action to anybody who watches. Okay. If there is anything, let's just say in theory that I got the opportunity to sit down at the end of the season with all the racers and ask them questions. What does the audience want to know? Are there questions that you would want asked to the racers? And if so, what are those questions? Thank you. Yes.
[00:11:05] Put them in the YouTube comments and I will type them up and put them in notes for Brooke. Oh my God. Someone's doing notes for Brooke. I love that. So, yeah. Okay. That's, that's an interesting question, Brooke. Doesn't hurt to ask, right? What inquiring minds want to know? I love it. Well, you know what? Well, you do know. Can I type one now? Can I give you one now? Give me one. My hypothetical. I only got one question.
[00:11:33] My hypothetical question would be to Holden. And I want to know what was in that McDonald's bag. Okay. Noted. Thank you. Okay. All right. Let's talk about it. Episode six, Bali to Dubai. I don't know what you thought about this episode yet, but this episode had like every task. I would have like jumped on it. Like I loved everything they did. Okay.
[00:12:02] I got a little confused and I have one note. Hold on. Let me unlock my phone. 911. Ask Brooke. What? Ask Brooke. The difference between fast pass and express pass. Okay. So it's fast forward. Oh, okay. And express pass. Express pass allows you to skip any task. You get somewhere and it's too hard. You don't want to do it. And you have the express pass. Pull it out of your pocket. Say clue, please. And you don't have to do the task.
[00:12:32] They just give you a clue. Fast forward is you have to go do a task. And if you complete that task, you get to skip everything else that everyone else has to do for that leg of the race and go directly to the pit stop. Now the fast forward does not automatically mean you will get first place. On my season, a team took a fast forward and came in third. So it's not an end. And fun little fact, there has been a time in the past where a fast forward was taken and the team was eliminated because it took longer than the other time.
[00:13:02] And I was thinking that this episode with how the edit was going, I was so nervous for my dungeon brothers, my dungeon dragon brothers. I was so nervous, but OK, because I was like, no, wait a minute. And I also think when I was talking about the express pass from two episodes ago, I think in my mind, what I was remembering was a fast forward. Probably because this is just and I think this is the reason.
[00:13:30] So one of the things I loved about this episode was they had it's usually a roadblock and a detour. And this one, they had two roadblocks, but they also had a active route information. So like it wasn't just go there, get a clue. It was go there, do a task in front of, you know, hottie, hottie, super front chef guys. But we're going to have to talk about that. I might have to put a pause on Josiah's brothers and cousins. No, you need a Josiah. Everybody needs Josiah.
[00:14:00] Like, come on. We're not we don't put the pause on family Josiah. OK, but I mean, that's one of the times that made me cry this episode. There were three. I was ready to risk it all for that judge. OK, and listen, I was saying, OK, I know you're supposed to do pastries, but I got some cakes that maybe you could. Take a look at. I don't know. I said, OK, never mind. OK, yeah. OK. And back to this. OK, so this episode has everything.
[00:14:29] This episode stick is the fast forward, which we just talked about. So we have Brett and Mark. Yay. In first place. I need them in first place more often. Leaving at three fifty five. Carson and Jack. Woo. Four oh four. Alyssa and Josiah four on nine. Jeff and Pops four nineteen. And then we have Han and Holden, Erica and Melinda, Nick and Mike and Jonathan and Anna between four forty five and five thirty. So everyone's pretty close to each other. It's about an hour and a half from team one to team eight.
[00:14:56] So Brett and Mark go right to a travel agency because they're told they're going to. They are told they are going to go to Dubai and they realize immediately that everyone's going to be on the same flight and they're happy to be in first place for 17 seconds, which is legitimately the only amount of time they're in first place this episode. Carson, go ahead. No, I was going to say. Yeah, I was. I love equalizers, but I didn't love equalizers right now because I wanted Brett and Mark to like stay in the league because I feel like they just have been through so much.
[00:15:25] But I love everybody on one plane. Yeah, well, OK, so Carson and Jack want a positive twist this episode for shadowing. They get one. Alyssa and Josiah are just I just keep writing adorable. I love them. I they can do no wrong by me. I need a Josiah at this point, but, you know, I have my own version. So that's good. Jeff and Pops are in the car and they are just talking about how they're best friends.
[00:15:52] They're talking about how how Pops like St. Louis is not the safest place and Pops put him on the right track from the beginning. And I look up and I look at Stacer and I go foreshadowing. This is not good when you give such a good story at the beginning of the episode. I think it means, you know, right. Right. So then you have Han and Holden who are just want to go into the wheels. But honestly, they are now my new dark horse to make it to the end because their edit has gone from who are these two to just front and center.
[00:16:22] And they're just I really like there's I really like almost everybody. Like, I don't see these people go home. So Nick and Mike are going for first today. OK, Jonathan, Anna. This is OK. So I have maybe four grapes. Jonathan and Anna are hurt by Carson and Jack. And I just wrote maybe get over it a little bit. Like, I don't know. I don't mean this meanly. You're still in the race. It'd be one thing if they got you eliminated.
[00:16:50] It would be another thing if their vote actually made any difference because you were getting U-turned either way. It actually had no bearing on anything like an emotional bearing. And I think that that's what hurt them. It is a game. And they were required. Let me say this clearly into my new microphone. It is a game. And they were required to U-turn somebody. It was not a U-turn board that they could have run by and said, we choose not to use this. There was a requirement that you U-turn somebody. They were scared they were going to get votes. Hear me out. And so they knew that Jonathan and Anna were going to get votes.
[00:17:19] And they thought better them than me. And so they piled a vote on. I have no issue with this. And I actually have no issue with Jonathan and Anna being annoyed. Be annoyed. It's in the moment. Be annoyed. I'm Lori to this, okay? You're not my friend anymore. I get why they were mad. And I put myself in Jonathan and Anna's shoes. And I, when they met up at the airport, okay, chef's kiss of Amazing Race.
[00:17:47] Awkward moment when Jonathan and Anna walk in and the Dungeon Brothers are like, they're right there. Don't say anything. And kind of Jonathan is a little short with them and they don't know how to take it. I kind of was living for that awkward moment in the sense because it's like, this is Amazing Race. We are not friends or we're going to be mad. Okay, then don't be friends. Not a problem. I mean, yeah. But I also feel like, what have I been saying this whole season? Y'all being too nice.
[00:18:17] So we are friends. Wait, so which thing are you, where do you fall on this then? Because are you? I'm not mad at the Dungeon Brothers. I'm not mad at Jonathan and Anna. I, however, have been saying and screaming at Melinda or Erica this whole time. Stop helping everybody. So lesson learned to Jonathan and Anna. Like, hey, like don't cut nobody any slack. Well, I don't even know what the lesson they were required to you turn somebody.
[00:18:45] I guess whatever I get in the moment. You can be annoyed. But Carson and Jack went over to Anna and we're like, look, we're really sorry. This is why we did what we did. And you know what? She handles it fine. She was like, I'm just a little. I just need a little bit of time. Fine. Great. Whatever. I hope that at this point in time, everything has been squashed because, you know, you're still in the race. Focus on that. So everyone is on the same flight.
[00:19:08] Then they have to take a taxi to this Platinum Heritage gate and find a Bedouin camp and grab a coffee cup with a release time for the next morning. Okay. So everyone's in their taxis. Erica needs to talk, talks about how they need to be faster in their taxis because that's the only place they're going to win anything, which is also kind of BS because her and Melinda are nailing everything. So I don't sort of agree with that. I don't think they're giving themselves enough credit. Everyone. This is my favorite moment of the episode. Everyone talks about the Burj Khalifa, like the tallest building in the world.
[00:19:38] And Brett and Mark are in their taxi. What's your favorite part about Dubai? And the driver's like the Burj Khalifa. And for some reason, Brett hears Wiz Khalifa and he's like, okay, great. Like Brett just sort of like plays it off. And Mark goes, I'm sorry. What does Wiz Khalifa have to do with Dubai? And the driver goes, the building. And he goes, oh, that's called the Wiz Khalifa. Like that's so funny. I love when they leave in little funky moments. That's I love the editors. Thank you for that, editors. It was great.
[00:20:07] There are camels on the road. I, of course, want to take the camels and add them to Brooks Outdoor Animal Sanctuary here in Manhattan, New York. We now have monkeys. We have puppies. We have camels. We have, I don't know, lemurs and crap from last year. They're it. Camels. You can keep the camel. You can keep the camel. Have you seen a camel's tongue? I've ridden a camel. Yes. And they do spit a little bit, but that's fine. Who doesn't? It's okay.
[00:20:35] I'd be a little nervous, because I feel like when you get on the camels, you gotta like bend back and then like lean forward. Like I would be a little uncoordinated. So I'm a pass on the camels.
But I do have one question for you, Brooke. How many humps does a camel have? It depends on the camel. One hump or two? Two. Isn't there a song? I don't know.
[00:21:34] There's a song about camels. There's a hump, there's a hump, there's a hump of a hump, of a hump. Okay, maybe I'm making that up. Okay. If it doesn't exist, you should write that song. Or I feel like in fourth grade, there was like a math question that said, like, how many humps does the camel have? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tussy roll pop? Isn't that something? How many licks? I know you're talking, I think I know what you're talking about. Well, that's Cisco. The Cisco the thong song.
[00:22:04] And then there is, there is, and then there is the lollipop song. But no, there has to be something with a camel. Or maybe I'm thinking of fourth grade math. Definitely one or the other. When I, while I talk about the flights, feel free to look it up. So you get to the camp and there are two sets of coffee cups. You can either get on the 510 flight, which Alyssa and Josiah, Carson and Jack, Jonathan and Anna, and Han and Holden do.
[00:22:29] Or you can get on the 520 flight, which Erica and Melinda, Jeff and Pops, Nick and Mike, and Brett and Mark do. Now, I like the sleeping arrangements a lot. They sleep in this camp. Josiah throws some dad joke about, we had dinner and now we're having dessert. Such a nerd. That was funny. I love it. Super nerd. But my only, I have a little gripe. I feel like it shouldn't have been four and four. I kind of think it should have been three teams on the first one and four, five on the second or something like that.
[00:22:57] Because all four teams that were there got on the same. I would have liked to see a little like jockeying to get on that first flight. And not all four teams that rode the camels being able to get on the first skydiving flight. That's what I'm doing. I agree. I felt like the coffee cups, the time should have been under the coffee cup. And you just have to pick a coffee cup. So you don't know. I felt like that would have kind of, you know, put some people in the front, some people in the back. So it's not just who gets there first. That's what I was hoping.
[00:23:26] That it wasn't just like, oh, we see the times and we pick them. Or I don't mind the times on the coffee cup and four teams left at 510. But there should have only been three spots on that first skydiving flight. So like whoever runs the fastest gets there. Like I don't. It just seemed a little too four. Okay, four. Okay, this. Like I wanted it to mess up a little bit. Anyway, the morning comes. Group one rides their camels. Jack and Carson talk about how it feels like they're inside a Dungeons and Dragons game. Nerds. I love you. Han and Holden.
[00:23:55] We learn a little bit more about them. See, this is why I think they're getting a much more winner at it. We're now learning another thing about them. They have a third sibling who is between them in ages. She has cerebral palsy. It affects her brain and her body. They're doing this for her. She's the most positive and strong person they know. I'm loving these two. I'm so into these two. And I like that we're learning more about them every week. So keep giving them this edit because I'm into it. Right? And then we get to the roadblock, which says who wants to drop into Dubai?
[00:24:26] We have, I do personally, but we have Jack, who looks so happy to do this. It's Holden, who is, was it Holden? I want to say it was Holden. I think who was, yeah, it was Holden, who was loving it. Alyssa, who is scared. But Josiah's response to her doing this is just so, this is where I cry. I cry because he gets up there and he's like, I'm just, I'm worried for her. I just want her back. Like the love that these two have is just vomitous.
[00:24:55] Like, and I mean that in the nicest, Bryce, you have to become part of this family. Because I want to now go to family. Yes. At this point, I don't believe Josiah is real. I think that Josiah is an AI simulation because the day that I meet Josiah's cousin or brother and I'm doing something dare devilish, like parallel parking. For him to be sitting on the side, just so worried.
[00:25:24] He's like, if it's about me. You've got this. You can parallel park. Yes. I just feel, I want him to come back from parallel parking. Yes. I need him to come back to me. I mean, the two of them. Parallel parking in the city of Philadelphia can be dangerous. But yeah, just the love and concern that he showed. And again, him just being so selfless and saying like, when it comes to me doing stuff like this, I don't care. But when it is Alyssa and it's out of my control and we could physically see him being nervous and uncomfortable.
[00:25:54] And when she was back on the ground, he was so happy. I was just like. And she's up there going, I can't wait to get back to you, Josiah. Like, come on. Are any of the people actually that in love? Probably. I mean, I think they're real. I just, I need to hug them. I want them to rub off on me. Okay. So Anna's up there. She has the biggest smile on her face. She's loving it because it's not water. And if it's not water, she's your girl. And then on my, I think my favorite jumper from all of this on flight two, we have pops.
[00:26:21] Pops has always wanted to skydive and also bungee jump, but this is this chance to skydive. He looked so I've never seen someone look so happy to get thrown out of a perfectly functional airplane. But now all he has left to do is bungee jump because he just seemed to really enjoy himself. Brett, I think wins the prize for the most graceful landing award because he comes down. His legs was up. I said, oh. Amazing.
[00:26:49] Melinda seems really psyched to do it and had so much fun with it. I love this. And then we have Nick who says this is his second time skydiving. The first time his eyes were closed most of the time. I relate completely. I don't think I opened my eyes until the parachute. They weren't closed this time. But he has such a big smile cemented to his face. Like this, the view over where they were was nuts. Like I skydived in like not really upstate, but kind of upstate in north of the city, New York. It was the view was fine.
[00:27:16] I mean, from what I remember, I, again, didn't open my eyes until the parachute opened. So it was lovely. But the whole time I'm holding the thing, you can see me on the video mouthing something. And my mom, because I told them after, was like, what were you saying? And I was just going, please don't die. Please don't die. Please don't die. Please don't die. And then the parachute opened and I was like, yes, let's open our eyes and see what's going on. Now, my one gripe, though, for the skydiving was, why do the instructors have on helmets? If I would have had to do this roadblock, I would have been like, why don't I have a helmet?
[00:27:46] Like if they're the professionals and do this all the time, shouldn't they just have the glasses? Like why? I would want a helmet. So that's my... Also, I have to think, if you think about it, like your parachute doesn't open. I don't think that helmet's going to save your life. It's not. What is it going to do? I mean, come on. What I... They had to be 12, 14,000 feet above the ground. That helmet's not doing anything. Well, why he... I just would have wanted it. I just, you know, would have made me feel bad.
[00:28:15] Some of them didn't even have goggles on. I would have been like, crazy. Anyway, Jack finishes first. Holden's in second. Alyssa survives. Josiah, you're okay. In third. Anna is fourth. Pops... Not Pops. Brett is fifth. Nick is sixth. Pops is seventh. Melinda's at the end. So they all do great. They all have fun. I was with Melinda. I think Erica brought this up. That I was hoping that maybe... And obviously it can't happen.
[00:28:43] But I was glad that I got someone to hear say this. Like, hey, could you maybe wait like 30 more seconds before you pull the parachute? So maybe I could get down a little faster than another team. But obviously... Wait, somebody did that? So Erica said that she probably thought her mom would be up there saying that to someone and be like, let me get down faster. And to be honest, Erica and Melinda, I thought that in my head. Like, wait a minute. Don't pull the parachute out just that quick. Let's drop down 30,000 more feet.
[00:29:14] And then you're dead. So, okay. But that's hilarious. I wish they would have jumped a little closer because honestly, if you're heavier, you might land faster. And I think it would have changed. And also, so when I skydived, they were like, do you want to do some tricks up here? And they can like maneuver. I said, absolutely not. No. They asked me if I wanted to pull the parachute. Absolutely not. Thank you. Did I want to jump out of the plane? I said, absolutely not. You're going to actually physically jump. You have my permission. You do everything. I'm going to hold it. They're like, do you want to put your arms out? I remember him yelling, put your arms out. And I was like, please don't die.
[00:29:44] I wouldn't let go of this because I thought that was going to help me. I wore a helmet. Okay. See? I didn't think you could do it without a helmet, but apparently you can. And then I started thinking the helmet's not really going to do anything. It's the placebo effect. So what I did like about this skydiving though, I think the last time we saw skydiving on Amazing Race was during one of the pandemic episodes or seasons. And they had to go up in the planes solo.
[00:30:11] And so it would be such a long time. You have to wait to the plane, get up, drop them down. And so it really was such a fast forward. I think that was a fast forward where everyone had to do it though. Did everyone have to do it? Okay. Maybe you're right. And so I just, I loved how they were grouped together in one plane. So it wasn't like, cause I felt like that one season, it was like, if two people were
[00:30:39] ahead of you, that's two hours in front of you. So I did like how they were clumped together. So once they finished the skydiving, you got the clue and the clue had a fast forward in it. So you could either do the regular route or you could veer off the regular route and do the fast forward, which said, um, rate, find the orange luxury car and go to deep dive Dubai where you'll find your clue in a huge underwater city. I'm picking stuff over.
[00:31:08] Now you can sign me up for that underwater city because that's, I would have a thought now that looked amazing and fun. I would like to go to there. Can we add that to the, yes, we can add that Dubai. Cause I want to go to Dubai anyway, because I hear the men's got money, even though I think maybe being might be illegal, but I don't know. It's not legal. Okay. We don't have to talk about it, but you know, we can figure something out. Whatever. Okay. That's fine.
[00:31:38] I also want to go to the, to the Atlantis and have royalty. Oh, I wants to go to the Atlantis, but I don't need the royalty. Uh, I can take the Royal him. Chef Christophe. And I've been waiting this season for a judge. Cause you know, we love a good, no, or I love a good extra judge.
[00:32:03] This is the first judge in amazing race history that they can have all my patience. And I was so happy that, uh, Han says something. Cause I'm like, is no one going to talk about how attractive this judge is? Because I messaged Sean. And I was like, your comments were everything. And she's like, thank you. She goes, I had a boyfriend. Like I got it. But like, I'm come on. Let's be real.
[00:32:32] If I was, if I was doing this. You can still admire the beauty of another person. If I was doing this detour, if we were on amazing race together, Brooke, and I was doing the detour. I'd have to be like, we need to go now. We'll come back later. We can come back. I would have been laying on, Brooke, I'd have been laying on that pastry table and you would have been putting the flowers all over my body. Cause I want to, I need, I need. Chef Christophe. That is an image. Thank you. Thank you for that. That is something. Anywho. Okay. So here's my second gripe with the episode.
[00:33:01] I think more than one team should have been allowed to go do the fast forward. Now hear me out. I'll tell you why. Jack and Carson had never dived before. They're not scuba divers. I, one of the only things that I actually am good at is I am a certified scuba diver. How you can say. They had to do. Well, thank you. I said one of, but thank you. I appreciate that. I have a couple little talents, but not a lot. I thought you said one. Anywho. What I'm saying is I asked Jack and Carson, they had to do like a 20 minute, like tutorial to learn what to do.
[00:33:31] I would not have to have done that tutorial to learn what to do. So I, I mean, I would have, I would have been like, look, I'm certified. I can tell you what to do. My tutorial would have been faster. It would have been faster just by, you don't need to tell me to breathe. I know how to do this. Girl, no, you wouldn't have had, you wouldn't have had your scuba diving certification. So you would have to sit through the 20, you would have had to sit through the 20 minutes. No, but like I would like, yes, sure. But if they had a con, like I wouldn't have had any questions. I wouldn't have been like to how to keep yourself buoyant.
[00:34:01] I wouldn't have been the, what do you do with your hands? Like I would have known what I was doing. So the point of my story is if more than one team could have gone and one team knew what they were doing. And one team hadn't done it before that team might've been able to get in the water first, or both teams could be in the water. And you had to search for this thing. Like I think it would have been so cool to see more than one team try and find it. Now, if a second team went, they were probably out. Like that would have been the end of it. If they didn't get it to get back and to do all those other things, they were probably out.
[00:34:30] So I understand why the race did it this way, but I think it would have been cooler. This is maybe the coolest challenge I've seen in a while. I loved it. I loved it. I did get nervous. And again, just this, the editing skills as to how we were seeing teams leave Chef Christoph and seeing the timestamp of them. I'm like, oh my God, cause this had been a fast forward that might end them not getting in first.
[00:34:59] I was so nervous for them, but I also was like, I, my ADHD, I would have been wanting to just swim around and just see what, like, I was so happy when they did find it. But we'll come back. I would say we will come back another time. Yeah. But I was nervous because I was like, oh my God, is this could be a situation where it's going to take longer, but they killed it. So here's the thing. So when the pastry chef thing, that was not a detour or roadblock. And you know, every episode will have, well, this one had two.
[00:35:27] So it'll either have a detour and a roadblock, two roadblocks, two detours. It'll have two main tasks. And then sometimes an additional task. I am pretty sure that the challenge producers put this additional task in there to compensate for the amount of time that it would take to get to the fast forward, do the briefing, do the fast forward, get to the. Because if there wasn't an additional task, I actually think the fast forward would have been slower than everything else.
[00:35:51] So anyway, Jack and Carson and Hunter Holden are looking for the car, but Hunter Holden cannot find the orange luxury car. They can find the yellow. They can find the red, but they cannot find the orange and Jack and Carson get to it, grab the keys. And that's it. Only one team can try it. Do you think that more than one team should have been able to do that? Or do you like it the way it was? I think more than one team should have been able to do it.
[00:36:15] But I also, in my mind, if I were another team and I got there and another team was already suited up, I'd have been like, let's go back and get it done and keep it moving. But I would have loved that kind of that pressure that it puts on the other team. Same. Same. So for everyone who didn't do this, for everyone who's not Jack and Carson, the rude information said, take a taxi to the Atlantis, the Royal Atlantis, and search for your next clue. Now, I love this because, like I said, it's an active rude information, not a roadblock, not a detour.
[00:36:44] It feels old school where you have to, like, go somewhere, do something. Go somewhere else, do something. Go to a third place, do a roadblock. Like, it wasn't just go here, get this, do that, you're done. Like, love that they were doing this to us. So, okay. So Jack and Carson are in their, this pool goes down 200 feet. Like, this is deep. Deeper than I've ever dived. I've gone down like 112 or something like that. Oh, you've only done 112?
[00:37:11] Only, your regular divers certification is only to 60. Oh, you only have a regular one? I mean, I have a, I have an advanced open water. I can go to 100, but I went to 100. Oh, okay, because I got the advanced, advanced. I could go to 100. Oh, do you? No, you can't. That's not a thing. So anyway, okay, cool. So anyway, so this is the largest or the deepest, probably also the largest, diving pool in the world. The fact that it's even a pool, first of all, is Dubai is so extra.
[00:37:41] The fact that it's a pool is the thing that takes me out, Brooke. I know. Did you see that, like, abyss in the middle? Like, it was wild. Yeah, that's a pool. No, baby, that's a man made late. My great parents had a pool. It went 12 feet. Girl, my best friends had a pool, too. It went to my ankle. It was a kiddie pool? Yes. And mind you, also, like, and we had it for years. Like, that was one of those places.
[00:38:11] It was a thousand kiddie pools, right? Yeah. And it was just like, why? But when you don't know better. But, like, I mean, we would have fun in it. But, yeah. That's so funny. Okay. So, I just, I really enjoyed. I actually, Carson and Jack did a great job. Because, honestly, if you've never dived before, it can be, like, a little weird. Because, you know, humans should not be unable to breathe underwater. And so, like, just, they were very calm. They didn't seem nervous about it. They seemed very just doing it right. Yeah.
[00:38:40] I do like that Carson asked if there was a left or a right fin. No, there's no left or right flipper. That was very cute. Okay. So, anyway, people who didn't do this. Nick and Mike are getting passed on the highway by everybody else. And everyone's getting to their driver. I like their driver. We had one of those. Can you go faster? Can you move to that lane? I would be the exact same. Can you go around? Like, do that way. That way over there. In moments like that. No, you know what? No, I'm not even going to say that.
[00:39:08] Because I was like, in moments like that, you need a little Colin energy. But I'm like, you know what? No. But you're going to pay them. You're going to pay them regardless. Yes. Yes. Yes. Don't stiff your drivers. Okay. So, at the flipping gorgeous Atlantis, you have to recreate the royalty food tower and present the completed tower to hottie French chef, Christoph Potti Hoddersen. And I don't know his last name, but I feel like that must be it.
[00:39:36] Josiah and Alyssa get there first. They do a great job. But Alyssa puts gold discs where she put gold flakes. And on their first try, they get a nope. But on their second try, they get a that is beautiful. And so, go ahead. I love how Josiah's like, and if you guys are hiring, let me know. Like, every task, Josiah is becoming a ninja, becoming some sort of, and now he is about to be a bakery. A bakery chef. Like, did he really ask him for an interview?
[00:40:05] I was like, Josiah. Actually, my favorite thing that Josiah does during this is Alyssa realizes that she has made the mistake and put the wrong thing in. And Josiah's like, so you're saying it wasn't me? It's not my fault. I didn't do it. I didn't. And she kind of like chuckled. She's like, no, it was me. I got it. So, they have a little bit of playfulness, which was cute. Ana and Jonathan are aiming for perfection. He's like salt bang. He's being a little bit silly. But I'm liking it. Like, I'm having fun that they're having fun.
[00:40:35] So, I am appreciating that they've like done a 180. And even though Dubai seems hot, like he seems to be having a nice time that day. And so, I enjoy them this episode. Can we also talk? I know people might feel how they feel about Jonathan and Ana. But can we also talk how they were double U-turned? They were at the back of the pack. And they were one of the first three teams to get the coffee. They're the second team to leave out of here.
[00:41:02] Jonathan and Ana are a pretty strong team. Yes. But just playing devil's advocate, they were all on the same flight. So, they weren't. There was really no. They were all caught up at that point. They are a very strong team. Yes. Agree. You know what? If you don't have a diver's license to go past 150 feet, I'm going to need you not to chime in. Chill the hell up. Got it. Got it.
[00:41:31] Because this conversation is for people who are allowed to dive 250 and deeper. Is that what you're saying? That's what I'm saying. Okay. If you know you and your trainers. I'm going to leave my notes here. You take over. I'll just be here. Go ahead. Well, listen. Okay. Because we can talk about what I want to talk about. And what I want to talk about is Christoph. Okay. Whew. The way I would have purposely been messing up my pastries. The way I would have been. Oh.
[00:42:01] Oh. Could you. Could you. Do you do one-on-one training? Could you. Show. Show me. Have you ever seen. Oh. Have you ever seen Ghost? Okay. Where Patrick. On a pottery wheel. With Christoph. But instead of. Right. I got it. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Show me how to use a pastry. Please. Wrap your. Behind me. Shut like that. Huh. Christoph.
[00:42:33] You done? I mean. I could go on. But I'm sure you could. It's funny. It reminds me. When I was running the race with Scott. Scott was constantly looking for the handsome men. And I'm like. I'm sure there'll be a handsome one at the pit stop. And we got to Greece. We got to the top of the Acropolis. And there was a very. Very muscular man in a toga. And I was like. Here you go. And he's like. Had I known. I would have gotten here faster. And that type of motivation.
[00:43:02] Pays off Scott. Because look how season 29 ended. He was expecting handsome men at the end. Okay. So. Jonathan and Anna are having fun. Han and Holden. Other than the fact that Han is all this guy. Is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Holden. They're talking. Again. We learn more about them. We learn about how when Holden was younger. He decided rather than do his own work. He's just going to plagiarize his sister stuff. These two. Are so fun. I just really like them. Wait now.
[00:43:33] Brooke. The funniest part about that. Was when Han was saying it. And she was like. And he not even going to say nothing. And the way Holden didn't even respond. Because Holden is like. You doing too much. Because I submitted a paper last week. And I don't need to. I don't need to confirm or deny nothing. It was the way that he ignored her. That took me out. He was focused.
[00:44:02] He was into it. Like. I'm calling it focus. So. Following the. He was copying the example. Mm-hmm. So anyway. We said Josiah and Lister are first. Anna and Jonathan are second. Han and Holden are third. In fourth. We have Brett and Mark. They are also adorable. They get it on their first try. And actually. Brett finds a mistake that Mark has. And he's very proud of himself. For being. Paying attention to detail. Everyone's getting along though. A little too well. I think. You have Erica and Melinda. Now. Erica has messed up a cupcake.
[00:44:32] And she fixes it. They make a quick pivot. Erica says. Erica goes to the. Erica goes. They look really pretty. And Chef Hadi's like. Let's see. Like. I liked him. He's like. Don't. I'll tell you if they're good enough. You don't tell. This is my. Don't steal my thunder. I would have stolen a sandwich or two. For the road personally. Because they all look delicious. In six. You have. Pastries though. No. They weren't. They were like. Finger sandwiches. Okay.
[00:45:01] There was like salmon up in there. It looked good. I'm a little. On offense of. Some of the little finger sandwiches. Because they look so deletable. And I was like. I want them sweet. And then like. You know. If I thought like that yellow bread. With like the white outing. Was. Is like. Red velvet. And then it. Turns out to be salmon. I like. It would probably be good. But the way my body will reject it. Because I'm thinking of something sweet. And it's yeah. Ever. Do you ever get that? Like I. That.
[00:45:30] I remember that happened to me. Like younger. Where like something we poured. Like in a. Like a mug or something. And I'd be like. Oh. It's water. But it was orange juice. And you've just brushed your teeth. And you get that. That's. I mean. Orange juice is good. But not when you've just brushed your teeth. Why does it do that to you? I don't know. Anyway. Whatever. I digress. Yeah. So Nick and my. Not 250 feet though. Oh my. Lord in heaven above. We will go dive. Have you. Do you. Do you dive actually? Girl. I have. I am licensed. The 200.
[00:45:59] I do have the extra. Extra super special secret. Deep. Deep divers license. That takes me to. I can't even. I can't even go 60 feet. I just. I bypass that. And start at 250 feet. Got it. Do you know how dark. The shore is at 250 feet. Baby. It's not. We don't know. We'll go there. I. I talk about it before. And I'll just say it again. You know. Aliens exist. And you know. That. Space is really the ocean. Yeah.
[00:46:29] And not. Above. Yes. Brooke. And again. We could get into this at a later date. But. The alien sightings. The UFPs. That they've been seeing. It's like a mother ship. I'm just trying to tell you. Okay. We've been looking. Why are we spending so much money. Going into space. When our. The body of earth is 70% water. Why haven't we explored. The depths of the ocean. Well. Food for thought. There's only so far. You can go down. Before your submarine.
[00:46:59] Inplodes on itself. Well I mean. That's why you're using parts from Costco. That's true. Hey don't. No. Hold on. Costco's great. Also. I want a Costco membership. Be my friend. We don't have a Costco here. But in Florida. I am Dale Camhy. And there's a Costco across the street. From my parents house in Florida. Also Costco gasoline is super cheap. Mama Dale. Don't. Don't. Don't do that.
[00:47:29] Because. You know. In the new Costco's. They make you scan the thing. And the photo comes up. Interesting. Let's not talk about that. Okay. Anyway. Nick and Mike are in six. They're dividing and conquering. And catching up. And they're learning to be patient. Because they want to get it right on the first time. I like this thought process. It's not working for them. Jeff and Pops. Are in. Sadly. In last place. I. Here was another epic. Like. I felt like.
[00:47:57] If Jeff didn't drop that pastry. And have to go do it. It's like. Oh. And this is one of those episodes. Where. Again. First of all. The finish. Sad. But amazing. Amazing. But. I hate the fact that in this episode. You can pinpoint little moments. Where you're like. Every moment counts. Extra minute. And it really. Really does. Yeah. So anyway. Jeff drops a pastry. They have to go back. And they have to finish it. They're outside their comfort zone. But Jeff is saying he likes it.
[00:48:26] He likes to try new things. He likes being outside his comfort zone. I love these two. And here's the thing. I want to be very clear. I finally. By the way. Can now tell Nick and Mike apart. I know which one is which. I asked Cesar every 10 seconds. When they were on TV. I was like. That one. And he's like. Yes. You've got it now. So I have got it. Pat myself in the back. It only took me six episodes. And they're not even twins. They don't even really look alike. But. Not at all. No. But on the race. They do look alike. When they had their hats on. It is a little hard to tell them apart. First thing Cesar said was. The one in the hat.
[00:48:56] Is Mike. And I was like. Okay. Great. And then I was like. So that one. We figured it out. I've got it. Can't wait to see you guys. The finale. So. Anywho. Jeff and Pops are in last place. And they are headed. To the next thing. Which is travel by taxi. To the Burj Al Arab. Public beach. So much beach stuff. I love this season. Like. I'm jealous of their tasks. And it's a second roadblock. Which says. Who's ready to ride a wave? Ah.
[00:49:32] In a row. I know. Don't stop singing now. Go ahead. Sorry. I know a team. That this. Would have been. Their episode. If they could have made it. To the end. And got on this season. Paging Anthony and Bailey. Please report. Anthony. To the roadblock. Bailey. Will have smoked. This challenge. Also. Shout out to our YouTube comments. Because somebody from last week. When you brought this up. They were like. Not a challenge.
[00:50:02] Actually. For Anthony and Bailey. Shout out to Anthony and Bailey. I'm so excited to meet them. When the Bryce and Wintour. Stops in Austin. In two weeks. And I will get to meet. Jackie and Lauren. I'll get to meet. Anna Lee. And I think. Someone from. Another person from this season. Might be popping up. So I have to see. So. I'm excited. Okay. So it says. Who's ready to ride a wave? You have to ride an electric surfboard. Up to. Which goes up to 30 miles an hour.
[00:50:31] There are three buoys. Buoy one. You start. By buoy two. You have to be up on your feet. By buoy three. You have to stay up on your feet. So. Okay. So Josiah gets there. He. What did I write here? Oh, I said. Say it with me. Everyone needs a Josiah. Like. At every turn. This is fantastic. He says. I have no idea. I have no idea what an efoil is. But I'm going to find out. I'm very excited. He's like a little kid. He's excited about everything. He just has this genuinely like happy spirit. I love it.
[00:50:59] So we find out that when they moved to California at some point. They bought themselves some surfboards. And that experience helped him be able to conquer this task. On his first try. He gets up. And immediately falls down. On his second try. He gets up. And immediately falls down. But he gets a little stressed out. People start to pass him. Those people being Han. Because she is a legitimate. Badass surfer. Kills it. We're now going to start calling her Hanster. Because that's what Josiah is calling her.
[00:51:28] She's a monster. She gets in. And she wants to try it immediately. And she should. She's like. I'm a surfer. I don't need. Let's just zip up. Go. First try. Gets it. And so they're now in first place. Because technically the other guys haven't finished their fast forward yet. And Holden goes. That's my girl. And he goes. I got to meet my sister. Just so cute. Hmm. Josiah takes three tries. But on his third try. He gets lucky. And he gets it. And then you have. Jonathan and Mark. Both in the water at the same time.
[00:51:59] Mark grips the clue. And he seems genuinely unhappy about having to do it. But he didn't have to do it. Maybe Brett had just done more roadblocks. And they decided he had to do it. But he wasn't required to do it. And that's what I was thinking. Because I thought at the last challenge with the surfboards. When you had to match. That Brett was a surfer. And had surfer experience. But I also think if they broke it up. To make sure that it was even. In the event that Brett needed to do one in the future. I thought that was smart. But in my mind. I was like.
[00:52:28] I thought last episode they said. Brett was good at surfing. That he should have done this. Mark did well. Though he did it in two tries. My favorite part of this challenge. Anywhere is Brett on the sidelines. Where he's like guiding him. Even though Mark can't hear him. His commentary is everything. He's like. Slow and steady. Have some fun. Slow and steady. Have some fun. Like it's just like a cute little catchy thing. And then at the end. He's like that's my baby. Have some fun. Like it's just so cute. I really enjoy that. And Mark is in third. Where? Who is in fourth? Oh. Erica. That beast.
[00:52:58] Hops into the ocean. Chad. Her instructor. And she's going so fast. That her board literally levitates. Out of the water. While she's still on it. Before she falls off. And she's like. Okay. I got it. Keep it a little. She's just trying to pick up time. I love her. Right. And I'm not mad. They're like. Don't go full throttle. Also. Can we take an appreciation. For these instructors. Okay. Because to go from the chef. To these instructors. Okay. I would have need some help. On my board. Show me how to get up on here. Oh my God.
[00:53:27] You'd be wasting so much time. You'd be the worst partner. This leg. I also thought. That the one clear instruction. That the instructor said. If you fall. Fall to the left. Or fall to the right. Don't fall behind you. Because there are propellers. I swear. Everyone. That fell. Was falling. I was getting so nervous. I'm like. Oh my God. Are they going to. But yeah. No. Yeah. But also when you fall. If you let go of the thing. Your propeller is ultimately going to stop. But yes.
[00:53:57] I get your point. Negative. Negative. Go. Go. To get the propeller to go. But I was. Up down. A B A B. It's like a cheat code for Mortal Kombat. When you were younger. Girl. Not Mortal Kombat. Girl. You got to age yourself. I said what I said. I'm ashamed of my age. I am for. And I'm proud of it. So anyway. Erica gets it on. Yep. Can we just give. Shout out to Erica. Because again. I'm saying like. Stop going. Full speed. Erica. But like. I need to learn how to. She said.
[00:54:27] Control it. Girl. Right. You knew what she was doing. And listen. I loved that method. Like. Loved it. Balls to the wall. Let's go. Love her. She goes. You know what? Honestly. Don't tell me how fast to go. If I can manage it. And do it. And she did. She got it on her first try. When she tried to do it. And they're in fourth place. Then you have Jonathan. You know. I got to give Jonathan credit here. Because. He was not doing well. He kept falling. And falling. And falling. And his attitude. Was very very good. His skills.
[00:54:56] Were not very very good. But his attitude stayed good. Despite the fact. That he. Practiced a lot. He got it. He went nice and slowly. He got it on his second try. Once he finally like. Got to the course. And they are in fifth. On this task. Now. You have Jeff and Pops. And Nick. Nick and Mike. Now. Nick and Mike. Right. Now. Oh. Go ahead. Oh. I feel like Jeff is going to get a talking. Uh. Hello. Welcome to my Bryce Isaiah TED talk. I will go easy.
[00:55:26] Due to the outcome. Of this episode. But little Jeffrey. Bring yo. Behind. Here. Here. Because. The moment. You. Walk. Into. That ocean. With sneakers. Fully tied. In your socks. All the way. Bop. Jeff. And then. The explanation. That he gave. When they said.
[00:55:56] Jeff said. And of course. They left it in. Shout out to the 90 minutes. Because Jeff's like. Do I have to take my sneakers off? And then the instructor is like. Mate. Do whatever you want. Also. Don't tell me that. What accent was that? Okay. That's fine. That is my Dubai accent. And. So good. Spot on. Spot on. Yeah. If you can't go 250 feet below sea level. Please. Do not comment. Thank you. But you do whatever you want. And then we get the confessional of Jeff. That says.
[00:56:26] Brooke. Brooke. I think. I'll have more gription. With my sneakers. What is gription? I've never heard that word. But that's great. B. What planet are you on. Where you think that your sneakers. Are going to grip a wet surfboard. Better than your actual. Like prehensile. Like joints. Like that is. I love. Now I love Jeff. I love pops. Like this team. I love them. I want to hang out with them. On the regular.
[00:56:56] And I have. And they're lovely humans. And if you haven't met them. Do yourself a favor. Find out where they're going to be. Don't stalk them. But meet them. Because they are amazing humans. They are. They truly are. The point of my story is. Take off your shoes. No Brooke. Cuss them out. Hold on. No. This is. This is the last time we get to see them. On our screen. Cuss them the hell out Brooke. My name is Brooke Hamhy. I was on season 29. Of The Amazing Race. Welcome to my TED Talk. If you are going to be on The Amazing Race.
[00:57:25] And you are concerned. That it's going to take too much time. For you to take your shoes off. And put your shoes on. When you go into the ocean. Please remember three things. One. Your running shoes. Are not going to grip shit. In the ocean. Like that is not how it works. Two. When you get out of the ocean. You are going to have soggy ass shoes. And you'll be running in sloshy shoes. For the rest of the day. That is not fun.
[00:57:53] Wet socks are the worst thing. Anyone who was in the army. What they smell like. Horrible. And three. You're running on the beach. Not only will you have soggy shoes. But you will have sandy. Caked on. Soggy. Disgust. You will have wasted more time. Running with these. Clog of shoes on your feet. Than it would have taken you. To take off your shoes. Like a normal human being. And go in the ocean. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. Brooke. I forgot about.
[00:58:23] Even the sand. Do not forget about the sand. Oh. My. God. But listen. I love that. That was. That was your cuss out. However. Maybe the sneakers did help him out. Because he didn't do it. You're laughing. Maybe he is on to something girl. Because. Despite it all. He actually did really well. He did it on his second try. And we did get one more from Pops. Come on. Jeff. Come on.
[00:58:54] Okay. So. I have no real issue. But. You could not have been comfortable. You're slogging around. Like the train station. After this. And that's not going to help you win a foot race later. I'm just saying. I'm so sorry. Anyway. That's that story. At that moment though. Because. Nick. Did. So. Yes. Now that I know. That's correct. Okay. So. Mind you. It's. First of all. Mike get a little testy in the beginning. And then Nick is.
[00:59:23] The more calmer one at times. However. I. Constantly have Nick moments. Because when they got there. And Mike was like. Nick. Do you want to do it? And Nick kind of was like. He froze. He was like looking at the thing. And then you literally see. Pops and Jeff run by them. And Mike is like. Hello. And Nick is like. Ah. I'll do it. I had those moments all the time. But. That moment. With Mike and Pops. When they realize. Also. Holden. When they get there. This is the other thing I wrote down. Yes.
[00:59:52] I wrote down the actual conversation. So. Mike says to Holden. Is Erica here? And Pops is standing there. And Holden goes. Yeah. Yeah. But she's just getting her instructor. If you guys both change fast. You're in a good spot. Mike. We're tied for last. Holden. I mean. Good luck guys. And. That's what. Classic Holden. That was. That's so funny to me. So funny. But also I love. You didn't mean it meanly. Like. Right. It's the positive nature of him just saying like. Hey.
[01:00:22] You're still in. You're good. You're still. Yeah. Totally. The moment that. I guess when everyone left. And it was just. Nick. And Jeff. I loved when Mike and Pops had that moment. And they embraced each other. And obviously. They figured. It's going to be between us. But listen. Love you. It's been great. I just love that. Like sportsmanship. But also. It was still that competitiveness. Of like. Yeah. So. Mike has said his brother can't hear him cheering. Nick is getting a little bit like. To the instructor. Like.
[01:00:52] I got it. I got it. You don't even tell me what to do. I got. I know what I'm doing. And I get that. I get that way too. Like. Just because I'm not doing it great. I get it. I just got to get my body. To do it. And at this point. I don't want either of these teams to go home. So it's not like. I'm rooting for Nick and Mike to go home. Because I'm not. I'm actually rooting for. Or I don't even know. Like. Whatever. Anyway. You know what I'm rooting for? That I used to hate. Non-elimination leg. I was hoping that like. This will be the ultimate mega leg. Where it just goes on.
[01:01:20] And even though it's not a non-elimination. That's what I was hoping for. That something would happen. I would have taken that happily. So. Or I was hoping. That Arun and Natalya would pop up. And. That that way they could get eliminated. And then all of a sudden. They would be back. You want them to pop up. Just to get eliminated. That's just cruelty. Because they come back. So like. If it's one thing about Arun and Natalya. They're going to get eliminated. But they're going to come back. They're cats. They got nine lives.
[01:01:50] Those two. So when you're done with the roadblock. The rude information says. Travel by taxi. To the mall of the Emirates metro station. And take a ride across the city. To the museum of the future. And then across the street. You find Phil. Frankly. If this had just been a cab to find Phil. A different team would have come home. So. So there's three rules of the metro station. One. You cannot run. Walking only. Two. You must purchase your tickets at the marked kiosk. Three. Platform one. Is where the train is. Haunted Holden are on the train. I'm running. And realize they have.
[01:02:20] You can't. No. You get. You get a penalty. You get a penalty. You don't want that penalty. Okay. So Haunted Holden. Question. Yes. Is. So you can't run. Right. What if. Now hear me out. Just. No. I want you to. Let's hold on. Wait. Let's take a Files brother breaver. Let's count to ten. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight. Nine. Ten. Now let's go back. Ten to one.
[01:02:51] Eight. Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three. Two. One. Okay. Okay. So there is no running. Correct? Correct. Now. I'm not. I want to say this with a straight face. What if. You. Is. Is running backwards running? Yes. It's not though. I'm sorry. What backwards? Running backwards is running. Come on.
[01:03:20] No. But no. No. I'm. It doesn't say skip. And skipping is faster than walking. So. I don't know. I'm just saying. Because isn't the act of like. Running. And tails moving forward. No. You just said running backwards. That's. Okay. Backwards. So if you were to. Oh, I'm not. I. You know what? I'm just going to agree with you because I can't go down the film. Flemination. Hole. Why? You know what, Brooke? Brooke. I am just.
[01:03:50] If you want. I can certify you to go 250 feet below surface level. Because that's what it's giving. But I'm just saying. I really do feel like the act of running is moving forward. And so I feel like if you were to. Turn about face. And backwards. Lest. Lest. Lest. Lest. Lest. Lest. It's in the title. No. No, girl. The. Let's go back to third. Third grade.
[01:04:19] When we have two words that come together. Which were. The front word takes the lead. So they say no. Running. Okay. I don't say no forward running. They say no running. Which means no running of any kind. Forward. Sideways. Backwards. No. Right. Backwards. Running is not running. Okay. Comment below how Bryce is wrong. Okay. So. It's. It's running. Anyway. Okay. Hannah Holden. Yeah. Okay. But. Okay. Hannah Holden are on the train. And I realize they have one. They're very smart.
[01:04:49] They have one of those pens. Remember when you were little. You had those pens that had four colors in it. Like the cookie pens. They have one of those. And if I get to go back. I'm bringing one of those. Because they can color code their notes. Very smart. I'm liking them more and more. At every turn. That's the worst thing for you. No. Even better. Organization. It's great. So Alyssa and Josiah are so polite to each other. To Sofique their cab driver. To everybody around them. I'm loving them. Mark and Brett are like, hey, we found something.
[01:05:18] We have no problem finding things. Jonathan and Anna and Erica and Melinda are on the same train. Jonathan actually alerts them on to where to buy the tickets. So I like that. And then we have the foot race. So I'm going to just lay this out for you facts wise. Pops and Jeff get to the station. There's no running, which will help them. Pops and Jeff get their tickets. Pops and Jeff gets a platform one. The doors are open. It's platform one. Get on the train. Jeff asked the people inside the train. Is this platform one?
[01:05:47] No one responds. Jeff tries to stop the doors with his hand, which would work in New York City. But do not does not seem to work in Dubai. The doors close. Train platform. One train is gone. The second it's gone, they ask a guy and he's like, yeah, that was the train. And now we have to wait four minutes, four minutes for the next train. And while that's happening, Nick and Mike find the station. Nick and Mike get their tickets. Two minutes to the next train. Nick and Mike are looking for the platform. One minute to the next train.
[01:06:16] Nick and Mike show up with seconds to spare. And now they are on the same train. Jeff and Pops had it. I am crying. Not because I want Nick and Mike to go home because I don't. I actually really like them. I would love for everyone to stay. But Jeff and Pops had it. I think they should have just gotten on the train no matter what train it was because they weren't going to win in a foot race. And at least they had a shot if it was the right train. But they don't.
[01:06:42] So everyone on this train is tying their shoes and zippering their fanny packs. And Mike is taking a puff of his inhaler to make sure he's ready to run. They all get off the train together. Nick and Mike see a door. And they go to the door. And Pops and Jeff follow them. Don't fall to the door because that door is locked. And all of a sudden Pops and Jeff's lead is gone. Oh my God. I wish they hadn't followed. They get outside. And now it's time to run. Because now you can run forward, backwards, sideways, or any way that you would like. And Nick and Mike take off. And Jeff takes off.
[01:07:12] But Pops just cannot keep up. He has since learned that he had a little something going on with his ankle. I am bawling. I am just a puddle of sobs. So, and to just add like salt to this wound, Eric and Melinda, Jonathan and Anna, now Nick and Mike are all at the mat when Pops and Jeff get there. Now, I, the only people who don't seem to mind this are Pops and Jeff because they're smiling while everyone around them is crying. Pops says, everything we've done is all I've ever wanted to do.
[01:07:42] Crying. He got to skydive and all that's left to do is bungee jump. My son is my best friend. Balling. Jeff is all my father has always kept me with him and taught me all I know. He taught me what type of man to be. I have no tears left. He says, we gave it everything we had. And then he says, I've always looked at my father as Superman. And today I actually got to see him cry. I have lost it. I'm sitting with Cesar.
[01:08:09] We are both like snot just running out of our noses. I don't even care. It was not pretty. And then I watched it again. And then I watched it again and cried just about as much on time three as I did on time one. This, the amazing race has messed with me. Like it was, sorry, you go. But I just wanted to lay it out for the people who didn't actually see it. If you didn't see it, you should go back and just watch the last seven minutes because it will break your heart.
[01:08:37] And to piggyback before I even piggyback on that. Right. I've said, I haven't seen a close race like this in a long, of course, what is groups of them? Five and six. But two neck and neck. Like just the adrenaline of that. And again, kudos to the Files brothers. Right. Like, you know, I think that this could be the spark under their butt that they need.
[01:09:04] Like I think that this, this could be a winning turnaround for them to have that happen right there. But enough about the Files brothers, because we can talk about them next week. For me as a black man, that's father is deceased and to see Nick, not Nick, to see Jeff and Pops and to see, and let's just be clear, right? Pops has never given up. Pops has been right. Come on, Jeff. Come on, Pops.
[01:09:33] Pops did more things than Jeff did. Yeah. He has been keeping up. And the thing that like kind of crushed me was that Pops was doing the best that he could do. Right. Like, and it was just like, and we know their father son relationship and you could like, you could physically see it in Pops's face while they were running. And I think that that is what just crushed me the most was just to see this black father out here doing any, everything that he can do for his son. And it was just beautiful.
[01:10:02] And so in my mind, it's like, yeah, they did go home, but they won the race. They won the race of the Purple Pants podcast. And listen, I don't think this is the last we'll see of them either. I don't think so either. Well, I can, I don't want to go on record, but I am officially, officially. And you know, I like to keep things a surprise, but I am officially putting in my bid and we'll see what happens for the Bryce Isaiah 2026 Eddie calendar.
[01:10:31] I think you know somebody who can help with that. Hilarious. I am. I am. I need for them to be on my calendar. I feel like you might be able to get that. I will say the thing that's interesting. If Phil had been in the station, Jeff and Pops would have won. If Phil had been like at the end of that corridor where the other brothers went the other way, they would have won. It was the running across the street. That was the only differentiator here. And or if Jeff didn't drop that pastry, I know it seems minuscule, but like that's four minutes.
[01:11:02] And but the thing is, they could have or if they had just gotten on that train, he said that the editing, maybe they weren't wouldn't have actually been able to get on that train. But, you know, whatever. They are happy and wonderful and lovely people and bring them back justice for Jeff and Pops. And I will absolutely be filing a report with the embassy at Dubai about their train safety measures and sensors. Because Jeff's arm, like that sensor did not close. That door said no.
[01:11:32] Like that was literally the judge saying no. Because I'm like, wait a minute. It did not seem super safe. No, it should have opened. Anyway, at the pit stop, Jack and Carson are first. They're having the best day ever. They win an Alaskan cruise. Han and Holden are second. They're my dark horse to go to the end, especially if there's more surfing challenges. Alyssa and Josiah are third. Everyone needs a Josiah. Say it with me. Brett and Mark are fourth. Jonathan and Anna are fifth. Erica and Melinda are sixth. Nick and Mike by this much are seventh.
[01:12:01] And by seconds, Jeff and Pops go home, which makes me so sad. But I'm excited to get to see them at the finale. And if you're going to be in New York, come meet them and everybody else because this cast is spectacular. Next week. Hold on. Next week. We are going to Bulgaria, a new country where we have a self drive, which we know everybody loves. And and not a vote, but a double U-turn. So let's see what happens because I have a feeling Jonathan and Anna get U-turned again. Heads will roll.
[01:12:32] I am actually more nervous for my dungeon brothers because I feel like. People are smart. They're U-turning them. Well, right. But also foreshadowing when they got to the end. Phil was like, and you, ha ha ha. You think no one notices you now. I'm like, leave the dungeon brothers alone. Don't, don't alert other people. Right. Exactly. I was like, why, why don't do that to my dungeon brothers? Let them be in a fantasy world. So that is what nervous. That's what makes me nervous.
[01:13:01] But I do think there is a world that they could skate by again, because here's the thing, right? We still have the Fios brothers. We still have Josiah and Alyssa. We still have Anna and Jonathan, which are easy targets. So I'm so excited. And if you get there first, you can't get U-turned. So that might happen too. So we will see. I wonder. So there's two. I will say one thing. I know we're going to hop off, but I will say one thing. There are two theories when it comes to U-turning.
[01:13:31] Do you turn the best people at the front to slow them down, to even everybody out? Or do you turn the people at the back to give yourself a cushion? And if they're already in the back, they're probably not making it to the next leg anyway. And if you piss somebody off and they go home, you don't have to deal with them for the rest of the race. Listen, I am of the mind of, okay, we are at episode six now, right? The winners have emerged, right? When we go back in retrospect and watch this season again, like the winners have emerged, right?
[01:14:00] And it could be the Dungeon Brothers right now. It could be Han and Holden. It could be Josiah and Alyssa that have been keeping this same and similar pace. Hell, it could be Erica and Melinda. It could be the Files Brothers, right? And so- So you just name, we're just naming everyone. It could be Jonathan and Anna. You literally just one team.
[01:14:19] If you cannot dive 275 feet below the surface ocean and run forward, backwardsly, I'm gonna need you to be quiet. Okay, yes, I know I just named everybody. But look, girl, I'm rooting for every damn body. Listen to me. What I am saying is, okay, if you can talk, if you can, you can talk, if you can't dive below 250 feet. This is what I'm saying, Brooke.
[01:14:50] We at episode seven now. It's time for the gloves to come off. And if I get there first, I'm U-turning the team that is the closest to me. I want to, like, now it's time to play mind games. Now it's time to be like, hee-hee-ha-ha-ha-ha. Let's go. That's all. Well, if it's time to be hee-hee-ha-ha-ha. I mean, not hee-hee-ha-ha-ha. You know what? If you can't dive between... This has been episode six of the Purple Band.
[01:15:22] We'll be back next week. Girl, I don't know why you got me so hyped, okay? My life... I'm really screaming. Sorry, guys. Love you. Okay, bye. Bye. Bye. It's the Purple Pants. It's the Purple Pants. It's the Purple Pants podcast. You better get your headphones and listen up quick. It's the Purple Pants podcast. You better listen in public, might make your stomach hurt. It's the Purple Pants podcast. She's trying to unwind. You better get that box wine.
[01:15:51] It's the Purple Pants podcast. She's trying to get your snack. You better hurry right back, though. It's the Purple Pants. It's the Purple Pants. Wir sind Teresa und Nemo.
