[00:01:37] Amazon Prime, the goat.
[00:01:40] And we are so excited to welcome to the podcast for his first debut, the winner
[00:01:45] of Survivor Season 43, Mike Gabler.
[00:01:49] Mike Gabler is in the building.
[00:01:52] Let's get in to this week's Survivor News.
[00:02:20] And we are back with your Survivor News covering Survivor Season 46 Episode 12.
[00:02:30] And I am excited for this week's episode.
[00:02:32] We've got our favorite baby boy, Jack Atkins from the Netflix season
[00:02:36] two, The Circle was popping Jack.
[00:02:39] What's up?
[00:02:39] What's up?
[00:02:40] I'm in Chicago coming to you live from my friend's apartment.
[00:02:43] So excited to discuss a great episode and we got some
[00:02:47] great other people in the mix.
[00:02:49] Absolutely.
[00:02:50] Some call him a goat from winners at war, or maybe the goats of Ghost Island.
[00:02:58] Also the goat on Amazon Prime currently streaming now episode four is out.
[00:03:03] Make sure you check out Wendy's the goat pod Wendell.
[00:03:06] Welcome back to the podcast.
[00:03:08] What's up?
[00:03:09] It's good to be back.
[00:03:10] Thank you for having me back.
[00:03:11] And I'm excited for this next guest.
[00:03:14] I am really excited.
[00:03:15] This is actually Jack, the first legitimate actual winner to welcome to the podcast.
[00:03:23] I'm so excited to have the man, the myth, the legend.
[00:03:26] You might remember him from season 43, the ala Gabler.
[00:03:31] Let's welcome Mike Gabler to the podcast.
[00:03:33] Mike.
[00:03:34] Great to see you guys.
[00:03:35] So fun to be here.
[00:03:36] This is awesome.
[00:03:37] We've got such a great show to talk about too.
[00:03:40] It has been a season in an episode.
[00:03:43] Wendell and I just wrapped up our Philadelphia show here in Philly last night.
[00:03:49] And it definitely was an epic show and all roads lead to the finale next week for
[00:03:56] the Bryce and win present season 46 finale.
[00:03:59] We've got two days of events for everyone.
[00:04:02] We have our real talk panel, which tickets are still available.
[00:04:05] We have our karaoke nights.
[00:04:07] We have our international brunch with our survivor Quebec, our survivor
[00:04:12] Australian friends and some more surprises.
[00:04:14] And all things are leading to the finale on May 22nd.
[00:04:18] Wendell, do you have anything to report about the finale?
[00:04:21] And just that this finale is sold out.
[00:04:25] And if you want to make it to anything, make it to the other events or
[00:04:28] make it to this karaoke welcome party, you'll be able to like
[00:04:31] meet pretty much everybody.
[00:04:33] And that's a, that's a fun one.
[00:04:36] Yeah.
[00:04:36] Uh, it's going to be an epic, epic time.
[00:04:39] Uh, but listen, we got a lot to cover.
[00:04:41] So Jack, what, like where are we starting today?
[00:04:43] Jack, I got to start off.
[00:04:46] I got beef with someone Bryce and I gotta address it.
[00:04:49] We've been talking spoilers during the season in terms of, you know,
[00:04:53] what is considered a spoiler.
[00:04:55] And for the first time this season, I was partially spoiled by my
[00:04:58] own uncle on this.
[00:05:01] And so uncle Jim, come on, man.
[00:05:05] Come on uncle Jim.
[00:05:07] I was, I laid it on my flight and I was ready to go to my friend's
[00:05:10] house and settle in and watch the episode.
[00:05:12] And he's like, what's with all these people not playing their idols?
[00:05:15] I was doing his cute bound idol.
[00:05:17] I was like, Oh man.
[00:05:20] But you know, as a Charlie, as a Charlie supporter, it did help ease a
[00:05:24] lot of those tensions while watching the episode.
[00:05:27] But regardless, it was a great episode.
[00:05:30] Uh, if I didn't know that Charlie was safe, I might've had a heart
[00:05:33] attack.
[00:05:33] So Jack, there is another beef that I have seen on the Instagram.
[00:05:39] I'm not sure if you're familiar with this, Mike, but you've been watching
[00:05:42] the episodes or the season, correct?
[00:05:44] And, uh, you saw the Applebee's reward, right?
[00:05:49] Well, I mean, we're on the block.
[00:05:51] You know, Q is out here shutting down Applebee's, Applebee's just
[00:05:56] announced, uh, this week that they're closing 35 locations.
[00:06:01] And of course Q has to take to his Instagram with Silk the Shaka.
[00:06:06] It ain't a mystical.
[00:06:07] It ain't my fault.
[00:06:10] Yeah, he's a character, man.
[00:06:12] He is a character.
[00:06:14] Uh, Mike, when's the last time you've been to Applebee's?
[00:06:18] I haven't been to Applebee's in a long time.
[00:06:20] I did walk by one at the Dallas airport and took my picture and sent
[00:06:23] it to a Mike and Jonathan from 42 because they're always big on that.
[00:06:27] So just as a joke.
[00:06:29] Um, but no, I haven't been there in a long time.
[00:06:31] I am intrigued because you know, it's this was like the ultimate season
[00:06:36] for Applebee's in that Liz lives and dies for Applebee's as much
[00:06:42] as she does for survivor.
[00:06:44] And that was genuine.
[00:06:45] They could not have gotten a better spokesperson caring about
[00:06:48] that bourbon burger than her.
[00:06:51] Absolutely.
[00:06:52] And even last night, the, uh, the, the recent vote out mentioned
[00:06:56] Applebee's in their exit.
[00:06:58] Yeah.
[00:06:58] So, yeah, right.
[00:06:59] Jack, cause Q mentioned it also it's a, this has been a very Applebee season
[00:07:05] on our season.
[00:07:06] We were wondering if we were going to get, you know, Applebee's at the
[00:07:08] merge reward thing we didn't, we just had a, you know, just a QT
[00:07:12] thing, whatever it was, but it was, it was really great.
[00:07:14] Of course you're starving.
[00:07:15] So it's even better.
[00:07:16] But, uh, we were all like, I wonder if it's gonna be Applebee's
[00:07:18] maybe it'll be KFC.
[00:07:19] Maybe it'll be Popeyes.
[00:07:20] We were like, we were just going.
[00:07:22] Mike, what'd you know about a Popeyes?
[00:07:25] Oh, Hey, I'm from Texas.
[00:07:27] I'm from the South.
[00:07:28] So, you know, Houston, Houston is, is there's a little Mardi Gras,
[00:07:32] Beaumont and of course I've been to Mardi Gras a bunch of times when
[00:07:34] I lived out there, six hour shots straight, straight East.
[00:07:38] Okay.
[00:07:39] Oh yeah.
[00:07:40] Uh, but before we get into the meat and potatoes of the Q situation,
[00:07:45] we do kick off the episode.
[00:07:47] So, you know, a lot of people were like last week, why did Ben vote
[00:07:51] for Kenzie?
[00:07:52] And I think a lot of us, especially coming from a strategic
[00:07:55] standpoint, we're like, well, it's a split boast in case there's,
[00:07:58] you know, there's an idle play or there's a shot in the dark.
[00:08:02] Turns out Ben just forgot who he was voting for.
[00:08:05] Uh, and he was really, we've seen people say, Oh, I messed up in the
[00:08:08] past.
[00:08:08] I'm thinking, you know, maybe a Natalie Anderson in San Juan del
[00:08:11] Sur, but here Ben is genuinely like, I just messed up and I don't think
[00:08:16] we've ever seen that before.
[00:08:17] Uh, everyone's like, I feel like everyone believed him too.
[00:08:21] Like I believe I'm like, yeah, he messed up.
[00:08:28] It was shot.
[00:08:28] It was a shocker.
[00:08:29] You know?
[00:08:29] I know, um, Kara from Australian survivor was with King George.
[00:08:34] I think it was on the first time they played together.
[00:08:35] I think it's maybe season six or whatever that was.
[00:08:38] She did the same thing where she wrote the wrong name down and it
[00:08:42] completely, at least Ben didn't really alter the game.
[00:08:45] You know, it was being a still went out and it was okay.
[00:08:49] Kara's boat down there blew up that entire thing and ended up, uh,
[00:08:54] it ended up getting her home.
[00:08:55] So, uh, really wild.
[00:08:57] Ben's got to keep it focused here.
[00:08:59] On this next voter tube.
[00:09:04] I've been guilty of getting up a little earlier and putting on the wrong shoes.
[00:09:08] So I feel like I can relate to Ben lack of sleep laying on that bamboo.
[00:09:15] Well, we'll do it to you every time.
[00:09:19] It's really true.
[00:09:20] You know, you're really beaten down out there.
[00:09:21] You're, you're exhausted.
[00:09:23] You're and you know, you're going in there and he may have been
[00:09:25] thinking even like, you know, don't write Kenzie, don't write Kenzie.
[00:09:29] So how would Kenzie get there?
[00:09:30] I don't know.
[00:09:31] It's funny.
[00:09:32] Kenzie and Venus aren't obviously very similar names, but in a way they have
[00:09:36] a similar vibe, I feel like.
[00:09:38] So, uh, I don't know.
[00:09:40] I guess this though, they said, let's just give them one letter.
[00:09:47] Yeah.
[00:09:47] But I guess he's able to recover.
[00:09:49] I mean, we've seen he and Kenzie have such a bond on the island and
[00:09:53] Kenzie gives him some flack for it, but ultimately, you know, she's still
[00:09:56] there for him when he, when he's struggling at night and things like that.
[00:09:59] Uh, and I think that's a great, great move from Kenzie.
[00:10:01] We've seen a lot of people this season.
[00:10:03] A big issue for them is someone does something against you as they hold grudges.
[00:10:08] And so now it's nice to see someone be like, okay, Hey, like I'm giving
[00:10:12] you the benefit, the doubt and bringing them back in, which I
[00:10:15] think is really good for Kenzie's game.
[00:10:17] Yeah.
[00:10:17] She gave him the Ben.
[00:10:19] The fit of the day.
[00:10:21] Oh,
[00:10:24] now that Wendell's a father, the puns just happened.
[00:10:28] Puns.
[00:10:29] It just happens, man.
[00:10:30] You're it's only going to get worse.
[00:10:32] Wendell.
[00:10:32] Trust me.
[00:10:33] Yeah.
[00:10:35] That's the truth.
[00:10:36] I respect Kenzie a lot though, cause I don't know if I would've had enough.
[00:10:39] I don't know if I would have been able to have that grace
[00:10:41] with Ben out of been like, he's gotta go.
[00:10:43] You wrote my name.
[00:10:43] So, uh, it was good to kind of see Kenzie just be able to shed love
[00:10:48] and understand that, you know,
[00:10:49] Yeah, personality.
[00:10:51] And I think that's what makes her so magical and attractive.
[00:10:54] I mean, she's somebody that, I mean, how can you not want to work with her?
[00:10:58] She's, she's got that great smile, good energy.
[00:11:00] She's smart.
[00:11:02] She's kind of the hiding in plain sight person for this week anyways,
[00:11:05] cause Maria's stock is, you know, her target's gotten big.
[00:11:09] Charlie's has gotten big.
[00:11:11] Liz is working in there.
[00:11:13] Ben Ben's also, you know, playing that, that game in the shadows where
[00:11:18] I don't know how much of it's the edit, how much of it's him, but he's,
[00:11:21] he's still there and aside from Q was the only person that kept
[00:11:25] writing his name down.
[00:11:26] I think he's, he's, he's probably advancing.
[00:11:30] It's hard.
[00:11:30] It's anybody's guess right now.
[00:11:31] Cause Jeff and the guys do such a great job editing it, but it's
[00:11:35] pretty exciting finish right now.
[00:11:37] Definitely.
[00:11:38] And I keep saying every episode, like we don't see much of Ben,
[00:11:41] but I feel like every time there's big decisions to be made or anything.
[00:11:45] He's there.
[00:11:46] They're always having conversations with him.
[00:11:47] And so again, I'm like, is this an alligator?
[00:11:50] They trying to pull on us where it's like, he really could be in the mix.
[00:11:53] And so it's with this only one episode left.
[00:11:55] It's like, I guess we will feel really see.
[00:11:58] Yeah.
[00:11:59] Yeah.
[00:12:00] Yeah.
[00:12:00] I was, I was thinking Ben could be a sneaky dark horse if he ends up
[00:12:04] with, you know, like a Liz and a Q at the end.
[00:12:07] Uh, but now, you know, writing the wrong name down and with Q going home,
[00:12:12] I am a little bit lower on his chances, but I mean, Gabe was
[00:12:15] absolutely right.
[00:12:16] He's been consistently in the mix and he's also just really well liked by
[00:12:19] people that there's, there's, there's something to be said about that.
[00:12:23] If you can get to the end with some people that are not as well, like,
[00:12:27] and maybe he's got something more that we haven't seen that he would,
[00:12:31] you know, cause the time to be self aggrandizing and the time to really
[00:12:35] trumpet all the greatness that you've, you think you've been a part of
[00:12:40] is that final travel, right?
[00:12:41] Yeah.
[00:12:41] I'm not sure if you get there and you know, we saw last season with Emily,
[00:12:46] you know, coming out a little early and wanting to take wanting to
[00:12:51] validate her game and herself by taking credit for Bruce's blind side,
[00:12:55] which she did a masterful job.
[00:12:57] We all saw it at home, but I don't think they saw it in the
[00:12:59] Island until she pointed it out.
[00:13:02] The problem was she pointed it out too early in the game and people
[00:13:06] were like, Oh, she is playing really hard.
[00:13:10] She is really smart and dog on people like her.
[00:13:14] That's gotta go.
[00:13:15] So it's all about when you show your hand.
[00:13:18] And I think final travels, when you lay all your, if you're, you know,
[00:13:22] you lay all your cards down right then.
[00:13:24] Yeah.
[00:13:25] It's interesting.
[00:13:25] Who do you talk about that?
[00:13:26] Gave it.
[00:13:26] And I'd love for you to elaborate more because something we've talked
[00:13:29] about on the pod this season is how so many of the 46 castaways are so
[00:13:35] all about getting credit for different moves and you take the credit.
[00:13:38] Like you referenced with Emily last season.
[00:13:40] As soon as you grab this credit, it puts a big target on your bag.
[00:13:43] We've been high on Charlie because I think last season or last week
[00:13:46] it was really smart of Charlie to be like, Hey, I'm going to
[00:13:48] give Maria the credit in order to make her target bigger.
[00:13:52] But obviously on your season, you made a few moves early in
[00:13:55] the merge and then you alligable it into the shadows a little bit.
[00:13:58] And then you were able to come back around at the end.
[00:14:00] Was that something you were actively working on during the season
[00:14:03] or it just sort of worked out in hindsight?
[00:14:05] But what was like your thought process with that?
[00:14:07] You know, survivors is extremely strategic in that you have to be patient.
[00:14:12] And you know, when, when you're ready to make your shot, you might
[00:14:16] really want to do it right now, but maybe it's better to do it in four days.
[00:14:20] You know, maybe you've got to have a few more things line
[00:14:23] up before you take that shot.
[00:14:25] And when it comes to taking credit for things that happen,
[00:14:30] it's a very fine line because this season has been very resume focused.
[00:14:34] I think last night was the first episode this season that they
[00:14:38] did not say the word resume.
[00:14:40] Uh, and it's great to have a resume, but I think they're way, you know,
[00:14:45] you just can't be as focused on the minutia of the bullet points on your
[00:14:49] resume as you are the macro strategy getting to the end because the longer
[00:14:54] you're there, the, the, the fewer opponents you have and the better
[00:14:58] chance you have to tell your story.
[00:15:00] So you, Q Q Q just needed to live one more day.
[00:15:05] And you know, that's, that's kind of a lesson there too.
[00:15:08] I always bring up James Jones on the podcast, uh, Mike.
[00:15:11] And of course here I come with another James Jones quote, cause James Jones
[00:15:15] always is calling me and rehashing the episode and James Jones, he put
[00:15:19] it to me the other day was like, you could have a great resume, but
[00:15:22] in the job interview, if you can't deliver on just who you are and sell
[00:15:29] yourself to the job, you're not going to get the job.
[00:15:31] So what's the point of a great resume?
[00:15:34] If you can't sit in the job interview and deliver what the resume is.
[00:15:39] And so shout out that analogy.
[00:15:41] And also you have to sit in that interview.
[00:15:43] You got to make it to the interview.
[00:15:44] So like, you got to make it to the end to even be able to pitch your
[00:15:47] case and if you want to, you know, take these and we've seen Gabler,
[00:15:52] we've seen a lot of these people taking these big shots at their
[00:15:54] friends and their allies early.
[00:15:57] And like, Hey, I did not take a big shot at my ally and I was able to sit
[00:16:01] at the end and plead my case.
[00:16:03] Oh, yes.
[00:16:05] Can I jump around a little bit?
[00:16:06] Cause you know, in the words of the great Liz, I'm pissed in this new era.
[00:16:14] Right.
[00:16:14] Because what you just brought up Wendell, like you didn't take
[00:16:17] a shot at your number one and you got to the end.
[00:16:22] What is it?
[00:16:23] And maybe I'm wrong.
[00:16:24] I don't know.
[00:16:25] Y'all help me out, but like, what is it in this new era that you gotta
[00:16:30] go against your number one?
[00:16:33] And so it has my mind messed up because now it's like for the
[00:16:37] new people that will play survivor.
[00:16:39] It's like your number one is your biggest enemy and like, I
[00:16:43] don't understand that logic.
[00:16:44] And it's like really frustrating.
[00:16:46] And especially like with Maria and Charlie, it's like, I love them.
[00:16:49] And it's like, I want y'all to the end, but something that you said,
[00:16:52] like where Charlie get allowed Maria to have that credit.
[00:16:55] And I feel like did Charlie doing that kind of boost Maria to the
[00:17:00] sense of like, now I gotta get rid of Charlie.
[00:17:02] Cause I see what he's doing.
[00:17:03] Like why you can't go to the end with your number one?
[00:17:06] Well, I totally agree with you, but I think what I like about this
[00:17:11] season is everyone is so obsessed with taking out their number one.
[00:17:15] But ultimately I think the winner is most likely going to be a
[00:17:19] Charlie or a Maria, or perhaps a Kenzie who actually failed at taking
[00:17:24] out her number one.
[00:17:25] And so hopefully the lesson to future players is you don't need
[00:17:28] to take out your number one.
[00:17:29] And obviously, I mean, for the Charlie Maria situation, taking
[00:17:32] out your number one at like a final five is the perfect time to do
[00:17:35] that, or maybe you take them out in fire making, uh, like,
[00:17:40] like Wendell considered doing and goes to Island and like a lot
[00:17:43] of people have done and, um, I'm sorry.
[00:17:47] Yeah.
[00:17:47] Like Dom considered doing a ghost Island and maybe that's the time
[00:17:51] because I guess like with the ghost Island reference, you don't do
[00:17:55] that.
[00:17:55] Then you have to sit next to your number one and you might lose.
[00:17:58] So it's really all in my mind.
[00:18:00] It's a timing thing, but taking out your number one at final 10 is
[00:18:03] not setting yourself up for a lot of success.
[00:18:06] And to your point, Bryce now with this, that's why I like how
[00:18:10] this example ultimately I think is going to prove not to take out
[00:18:13] your number one, because it would be so weird to go into a season
[00:18:15] of Survivor as a player and be like, like, let's be number one.
[00:18:19] So you'd be like, wait a second.
[00:18:23] A couple of days, you know, then you'll switch.
[00:18:25] And that was, you know, Tiffany, when Kenzie went after Tiffany,
[00:18:30] your Tiffany ended up going home the week later, but it wasn't
[00:18:34] by, by Kenzie and Kenzie was heartbroken because she was left
[00:18:37] out of the boat.
[00:18:38] She didn't have a lot of agency in that particular episode we saw.
[00:18:43] It's probably because her number one was gone.
[00:18:45] The person she most trusted was cut free from her.
[00:18:49] And she started that, you know, she kind of planted that seed going.
[00:18:53] And I think you do it to be careful because you know, bringing in
[00:18:56] in Survivor, if you could have one person you trust pretty much.
[00:19:00] That really helps you.
[00:19:01] You can build on that.
[00:19:02] If you keep taking out your number one, like look this season with the six,
[00:19:06] remember when they were concocting the six and I'm like, oh, that's
[00:19:09] a genius idea.
[00:19:10] It's the three people that got one of the journey.
[00:19:13] They got the reward.
[00:19:14] They figured out how to manipulate that.
[00:19:16] They all brought in once when they got to the merge, they'd have six
[00:19:19] that held up for a hot minute and it was gone blown up.
[00:19:26] Maria is the last of the six left.
[00:19:28] Yeah.
[00:19:29] Yeah.
[00:19:29] Well, Charlie was a, uh, Charlie was a late edition with the add on.
[00:19:34] Uh, but to that point, it's like, I actually think there's some
[00:19:38] benefits to Kenzie's game in, you know, it's nice to have a number one around
[00:19:42] someone you can really operate with.
[00:19:44] But for a Kenzie to not be a part of her number one going home, I think
[00:19:48] that opens up her game in a sense where people are like, okay, now
[00:19:50] her number one's out, but she never betrayed them.
[00:19:52] So maybe that's someone I want to work with.
[00:19:54] And also you have someone going to the jury who's going to sing your
[00:19:57] praises and he was not going to be bitter at all.
[00:20:00] And ultimately, you know, I think for Kenzie, if, if a Charlie or
[00:20:04] Maria doesn't get to the end and there could be some clear dominoes in that
[00:20:08] happening at five and four, then I think obviously Kenzie could sweep a
[00:20:12] jury sitting next to Ben and Liz.
[00:20:14] So again, it's not bad to necessarily lose your number one.
[00:20:19] Uh, if you play your cards right.
[00:20:23] Yeah.
[00:20:23] It's timing, right?
[00:20:24] You don't, you, you can, if you've got to go to knives and,
[00:20:27] and you got to do that, you're doing it at fire.
[00:20:30] You're doing it at final five.
[00:20:32] You know, you want to kind of go deep when my main Alliance that I was on
[00:20:36] the Island with was, was Jesse and Cody and Jesse ended up going after
[00:20:43] his number one, which was Cody.
[00:20:46] And it was a great move.
[00:20:48] And it's a famous blind side.
[00:20:50] It's a Savage blind side, right?
[00:20:51] It's a, he does, I mean, Cody, Cody and Jesse and Jesse became like
[00:20:56] this, he's a legendary player because of that, but strategically to get
[00:21:00] through the game, it was very hard on him because as soon as he did that,
[00:21:03] everybody liked the Emily example was like, Oh no, he's freaking dangerous.
[00:21:08] That guy is dangerous.
[00:21:09] And he wasn't able to, you know, the survivor, he got to be good,
[00:21:12] but you also have to be lucky.
[00:21:14] And he just kind of ran out of luck.
[00:21:15] He was a lucky dog, but he ran out of luck that day.
[00:21:21] So should you be aiming to be the, should you be
[00:21:24] aiming to be the third in the triangle?
[00:21:27] Cause does, does the number three actually work out better if you
[00:21:31] know, cause people are always like, I don't want to join that Alliance.
[00:21:34] Cause I'm going to be at the bottom and ain't nothing wrong with being
[00:21:37] at the bottom, you know, but I'm just saying, uh, if in a triangle though,
[00:21:41] like, if you know the two people are at the top and you're the third person,
[00:21:44] I actually think that that's a more advantageous place to be,
[00:21:47] especially in this new era.
[00:21:49] And I totally agree.
[00:21:50] And it reminds me of a lot of blood first water seasons where
[00:21:54] your loved one gets voted out.
[00:21:56] Now every other duo, you know, a bona fide obvious duo who is there as
[00:22:01] a loved one, they look up there like, Oh, you could be our number three.
[00:22:04] Cause cause you don't have any wants to be loyal to.
[00:22:07] So in a lot of we've seen that we've seen people in blood versus water
[00:22:10] seasons, like Tyson and Natalie, you know, they lose their, their
[00:22:16] blood early on in the game.
[00:22:17] And in a way they're able to be a lot of people's three is the money,
[00:22:21] which I think ideally it's a little bit harder in a less obvious duo
[00:22:26] situation than a blood versus water.
[00:22:28] But I think that's a great example.
[00:22:29] Bryce is, is if you could be everyone's number three, you're sort of just an
[00:22:32] option for everyone, but not a, not a number one that needs to be cut for.
[00:22:37] I, I, you know, I said it once.
[00:22:38] I say it again, don't knock it to your try.
[00:22:42] And so listen, I'm open to a three.
[00:22:43] So three is a good number.
[00:22:46] Three is a really good number in survivor.
[00:22:48] I think if you're, cause the tribes have gotten small.
[00:22:52] So if you can be a part of a trio, you're going to have him for me,
[00:22:56] you're probably going to have your own, you know, feelers out and you can come
[00:22:59] together and share a lot of information and be that swing group.
[00:23:04] Cause we were, when we were on that ride or die, we were in the middle
[00:23:08] choosing night to night, what was going to happen?
[00:23:11] And if we would have very brief conversations, cause we didn't
[00:23:13] want anybody to see us really.
[00:23:15] And so we would get it all figured out in the jungle.
[00:23:20] I'd never even look at them when we walk into valve valve conference.
[00:23:23] That's why I just got out of that.
[00:23:24] Um, when we walk into travel travel council and, uh, and just do my
[00:23:29] boat and sit down and it was always like, we were locked and loaded every time.
[00:23:34] We knew how it was going to go down.
[00:23:35] And that was, uh, it was a beautiful thing.
[00:23:38] It's like, uh, you know, when the plan comes together, it's pretty sweet.
[00:23:41] Yeah.
[00:23:43] Yeah.
[00:23:44] And like not even, it's like, I, I tried to keep, you know, well, a lot
[00:23:50] of people knew that I was working with Dom and Laurel and even Donathan.
[00:23:53] Um, but being so not even while you're, you know, on the boat or going in
[00:24:01] the tent or all this stuff that happens before you walk out to not even.
[00:24:05] Engaging with them.
[00:24:06] That's, that's one way to do it.
[00:24:08] I like something you should have maybe tried window on 40.
[00:24:11] I think that may be the, we could have switched things up a little bit.
[00:24:16] How'd you do on 40?
[00:24:17] Listen, Gabe let's say he liked the number three and I was the third
[00:24:21] now, so it's a honor.
[00:24:22] Okay.
[00:24:24] It's an honor.
[00:24:25] But to that same point, I mean, especially in the new era where it's a lot of three
[00:24:29] tribe seasons, where it's groups of six, if you get that three early on,
[00:24:33] you know, that's basically a majority of you got a tight three.
[00:24:35] You just pull someone in and try to six.
[00:24:37] So you can go a long way with that.
[00:24:38] Whereas, you know, in, in the olden days of two tribe seasons, you
[00:24:42] know, nine, 10 people, a three isn't as strong.
[00:24:46] You still gotta pull in some more numbers, not to mention the merge
[00:24:48] where you have a merge, a Tory and then you have a split tribe tribal.
[00:24:51] You're not really doing it.
[00:24:52] The biggest vote you're ever going to see is 10 and then a three
[00:24:55] there is still pretty effective.
[00:24:56] So it is pretty effective.
[00:24:58] And you know, you look at it.
[00:24:59] There's three is a pretty good number because if you have more people
[00:25:05] to keep track of than two, the trust gets a little rusty, a little loose
[00:25:11] in that trust out there, you know, you start getting an alliance of four, five.
[00:25:15] You're, you're really not sure what's happening.
[00:25:18] But when there's three, cause it was me, Owen and Sammy were in a three.
[00:25:22] Uh, me, Cassidy and Owen were in a three, me, um, Carla and
[00:25:27] Jesse were three, me, Jesse and Cody were the real three in the middle.
[00:25:31] But we were moving and all those little threes were like
[00:25:33] gears grinding together.
[00:25:35] Right.
[00:25:35] And you'd be all those gears were touching each other and coming around.
[00:25:39] We were trying to figure out what to do and it allowed
[00:25:42] you to be pretty nimble.
[00:25:43] I think it's like, almost like a seal team, right?
[00:25:46] You got this, this little small tight group that can move on a dime.
[00:25:50] Yeah.
[00:25:51] I like that.
[00:25:52] Yeah.
[00:25:53] What happens if you're three in the three, you've got Q as one of your threes.
[00:25:59] How do you think that will work out though?
[00:26:01] You play your idol.
[00:26:08] And moving towards that, I mean, so we have this reward challenge and
[00:26:13] Charlie wins and gets to bring people to the sanctuary for some Chinese food.
[00:26:19] And also he finds out after he wins that there's going to be some, some love,
[00:26:22] some, some letters from home.
[00:26:24] Uh, and he picks Liz and, uh, Kenzie much to Maria's, uh, disdain.
[00:26:34] But did you guys think that was the right choice from Charlie?
[00:26:38] I think it was the right game play, uh, move wrong emotional
[00:26:43] move, right?
[00:26:43] Cause for me, I always as a survivor fan and lover, I love the letters
[00:26:49] and I love the family visits.
[00:26:51] Right?
[00:26:51] Like I just always get emotional.
[00:26:53] I just love seeing someone's loved ones.
[00:26:55] I remember window season, seeing windows dad out there.
[00:26:58] Like I just, I love that.
[00:26:59] And so Maria being a mother knowing she has three boys out there, like
[00:27:04] that was just hard to watch.
[00:27:06] And even if I was Charlie and I had that agreement with Maria that I'm
[00:27:10] not going to bring you on a challenge because that's a great strategic move.
[00:27:14] Like let's keep each other away.
[00:27:15] Let's bring in the people that we need to.
[00:27:17] I don't know.
[00:27:18] And that moment, me being a son and having a mother, like, I don't
[00:27:22] know if I would have been able to actually pull that trigger and not
[00:27:26] bring Maria, which is also, in my opinion, uh, a resume booster for
[00:27:31] Charlie, because that was, yeah, he did that cause I know that had to
[00:27:34] have been hard and then just watching Dr.
[00:27:36] Maria, uh, try to like suck it up and like, you know, not really give her emotions,
[00:27:41] but you could just see she was broken.
[00:27:42] And just knowing that like all of the things of the world, knowing
[00:27:45] her sons were writing her letter.
[00:27:47] That was like, that was hard to watch.
[00:27:51] What do you think?
[00:27:51] Wendell?
[00:27:53] I agree.
[00:27:53] I fell for her.
[00:27:54] Um, she loves her family and like, she misses her boys and I'm sure she
[00:28:02] was telling them all about her family and you know, but again, like I
[00:28:09] on ghost Island, I believe I won like a stake reward or something like that.
[00:28:12] And I picked, I had Laurel out there.
[00:28:15] I had Dom out there.
[00:28:17] I had Donathan out there.
[00:28:18] I believe I picked Angela and Sebastian to come with me.
[00:28:22] And a few nights later they're sitting on the jury and both of them voted
[00:28:27] for me, you know, I'm going to take the contrary view on that.
[00:28:32] Where I agree with, with your move Wendell.
[00:28:35] I think it's, it's heart, heart wrenching, you know, Bryce Jack to watch that.
[00:28:42] But strategically, I thought it was masterful play where he brought the
[00:28:47] people he needed because if he was going to do a coup on, you know, in
[00:28:52] blindside Maria, he needed those two specifically.
[00:28:57] They also were not, it looked more almost fighting from the three that
[00:29:02] didn't go like he was just being a good guy.
[00:29:05] Liz is, you know, who hadn't been on a reward.
[00:29:07] And so he was able to get away with that.
[00:29:09] The, the, the, the wrench in the whole thing was Maria's visceral reaction
[00:29:15] to not getting to see the letters from her kids.
[00:29:18] And that was, I don't think he was factoring that in,
[00:29:21] but I think he managed it.
[00:29:23] Okay.
[00:29:23] And I also get where if you've got a number one, just say, you know,
[00:29:27] Bryce, me and you are super close.
[00:29:29] We're going here.
[00:29:30] Hey man, we're doing this.
[00:29:31] We're with reward.
[00:29:33] If I win, I'm not taking you because you got to take care of babysitting
[00:29:36] camp or vice versa.
[00:29:38] So I had that plan with Owen on my season and towards the end, there
[00:29:45] was that freaking puzzle.
[00:29:46] I, the words are just long enough to where it'll fit, right?
[00:29:49] It's like dangerous works, adventure works, all the, like you get a big
[00:29:53] one, you kind of stick with it.
[00:29:54] That was my, my downfall, but Owen got that one, that we were starving.
[00:30:00] And I'm looking at Owen, like trying to communicate telepathically with him.
[00:30:04] Like forget what we said.
[00:30:06] I'm so hungry.
[00:30:07] Pick me.
[00:30:08] But he sent, uh, he went with Cassidy.
[00:30:11] Like we had talked about, he probably was did that also did that
[00:30:13] strategically because I think that's where he was going, but we
[00:30:16] did have that agreement.
[00:30:17] I was going to babysit back at camp.
[00:30:19] I think the difference in this scenario, it was such a gut
[00:30:22] punch to poor Maria that she was ineffective babysitting back
[00:30:27] at camp.
[00:30:27] Cause she was, you know, she needed care and she needed people to help her.
[00:30:31] And it kind of stirred a bunch of stuff that we're still not done seeing
[00:30:36] the chaos caused by all that.
[00:30:39] I think that's a great point because.
[00:30:42] You know, I think obviously there's so many emotional factors
[00:30:45] when it comes to reward.
[00:30:46] And it's easy to say watching from home when you're not starving
[00:30:50] or you want love from home.
[00:30:52] But I think the stratus in me, I think that the real value is how do
[00:30:55] you put these groups together?
[00:30:58] That's going to maximize your game.
[00:30:59] Who can you bring that you might be able to work with?
[00:31:02] And also, I mean, it reminds me of my good buddy, Xander in 41.
[00:31:07] He said something along the lines of, you know, I kind of, I don't
[00:31:10] want to go on the board because there's something, there's some
[00:31:12] value in being with the losers.
[00:31:13] Because if you're in the position where you need new allies or you
[00:31:16] need to twist the game around the people back at camp that are hungry
[00:31:20] and pissed off might be a little bit more willing to change the game.
[00:31:24] Um, and so honestly, I know, I know a couple of times this season,
[00:31:27] I think people volunteered to give up a reward and it didn't end up working out.
[00:31:31] But it almost part of me was like, maybe Charlie could
[00:31:34] give up his reward to Maria.
[00:31:36] But he also wants that time with Kenzie and Liz, uh, to
[00:31:39] solidify this, this upcoming.
[00:31:41] It's tricky, right?
[00:31:42] I mean, Jeff and those guys, they do such an amazing job
[00:31:46] of keeping you off balance.
[00:31:48] And you know, you're already in the fog of, of, of physical from
[00:31:52] sleeping, hunger, thirst, all the other stuff.
[00:31:55] And then you're there with these super complex emotional decisions
[00:32:01] that are very important.
[00:32:03] Five chest moves ahead and you're doing this.
[00:32:05] Oh, it was, you could feel it.
[00:32:07] It was palpable, right?
[00:32:08] Bryce, I mean, you felt that, uh, it was just heartbreaking to watch,
[00:32:12] but that's part of why we love Survivor because you never
[00:32:14] know what's going to happen.
[00:32:16] And the, the organic nature of it is what's so fun.
[00:32:20] Jeff doesn't know what's going to happen.
[00:32:21] He sets a table, but we put it all together, which is really interesting.
[00:32:26] I think another like key, just something that I watch always
[00:32:29] look for little stuff.
[00:32:30] And for me, I'm like, Charlie is good because when he picked Liz,
[00:32:35] not only did he pick her, but he named her daughter, right?
[00:32:38] Like, and it's like, for me, that's the little stuff where it's like,
[00:32:40] he is getting to know these people.
[00:32:43] And just the fact of him even saying that name, if it were to come down
[00:32:47] to the end, like that's a vote right there.
[00:32:49] And so it's like, Charlie, I see you.
[00:32:51] Like, I like, I see you, Charlie.
[00:32:53] He's genuinely connecting with everyone and like the non pizza people.
[00:32:58] Remember that was a thing too.
[00:33:00] Right?
[00:33:00] You go back there when you're doing that, you are making
[00:33:04] relationships that he didn't have before that loss his, his stock
[00:33:10] rose after that loss because he played it just right.
[00:33:15] Yeah.
[00:33:16] And I mean, to me, that's what's separate.
[00:33:17] That's why I'm more on board with a Charlie win than a Maria win.
[00:33:21] And I think that's why it works out for even, I mean, look at this episode.
[00:33:26] Look who emerges triumphantly in this Charlie Maria battle because he's
[00:33:31] able to win over the Liz and the Kenzie and it can boil down to
[00:33:36] something as small as last episode.
[00:33:38] Maria really fumbled the way that she picked for the reward and left
[00:33:42] Liz feeling very discontent.
[00:33:44] Whereas this episode, Charlie brings her plays a perfect and gets
[00:33:47] the people that he needs on his side to win this first.
[00:33:51] He may, he may not have winning the war.
[00:33:53] We'll see what happens, but he definitely won the battle this episode.
[00:33:56] No, we'll write.
[00:33:57] But also I think what I love about, well, first of all, I hate
[00:33:59] that it's the Charlie and Maria battle, but also it's so good.
[00:34:02] Right?
[00:34:02] Because it's like, we love them.
[00:34:04] And I love the fact that you're right.
[00:34:06] Charlie played this excellent and Maria kind of stumbled a little bit,
[00:34:10] but you saw that fire that it lit.
[00:34:12] Right?
[00:34:12] Like, and I think that's something that you can't quantify and
[00:34:16] survivor when it's like, where you get pissed, shout out the Liz.
[00:34:21] But when you get pissed, you never know what's going to happen.
[00:34:25] And so like I, I'm, I'm with you, but I'm not counting Dr.
[00:34:29] Maria out because I mean, I'm just saying, like I, uh, that fire
[00:34:34] and her for me was like, Oh,
[00:34:38] the music even told the story.
[00:34:39] This episode had particularly like really good or eerie, spooky
[00:34:45] or suspenseful music.
[00:34:47] They did a great job.
[00:34:48] I noticed that it was really impressive.
[00:34:51] They, they, they really put together a great show for sure.
[00:34:54] For editing was phenomenal.
[00:34:56] This episode, for sure.
[00:34:57] I've seen a lot of praise for that because even back at camp during the
[00:35:00] reward or once Charlie and them get back from the reward, we see these sort
[00:35:04] of dueling confessionals from Charlie and Maria of like, is it my time to
[00:35:08] make a move is, are they suspecting that I'm going to make a move?
[00:35:11] Dueling.
[00:35:12] They were, it was very well done.
[00:35:13] Yeah.
[00:35:14] Like literally they were saying the same things and changing the frames.
[00:35:17] Uh, spooky.
[00:35:19] I'll tell you though, I think so before we do that, who was your winner?
[00:35:23] Pick go around the horn.
[00:35:25] Who was your winner pick in the beginning?
[00:35:27] Would you guys have, who do you have now?
[00:35:30] So, you know, I do, it's a look with Rob.
[00:35:33] And so I always judge my winter, my winter picks off of their look.
[00:35:37] Uh, and so I loved me some Kenzie, but as the episode started, uh, and
[00:35:42] where we're at now, it's like, ah, I think I might be seeing Dr.
[00:35:46] Marie.
[00:35:46] I think Dr.
[00:35:47] Marie is like my now new winter pick.
[00:35:50] Yeah.
[00:35:50] Great.
[00:35:51] Great.
[00:35:52] Great.
[00:35:52] How about you, Jack?
[00:35:53] Yeah.
[00:35:54] I know I didn't, at the beginning of the season, uh, I didn't make a
[00:35:56] formal winter pick.
[00:35:57] I would say I was definitely high on like a Tiffany and a Kenzie
[00:36:00] and a Julinski.
[00:36:01] And a Julinski Jack.
[00:36:02] Don't, don't.
[00:36:04] We gonna hold you to it.
[00:36:05] But the Julinski was more of a personal bias because I was just
[00:36:10] team Julinski, but, uh, now I mean, ever since the merge, I really think
[00:36:14] Charlie's been, been playing his ass off.
[00:36:17] I said it last week.
[00:36:19] I thought last week's episode was phenomenal for him.
[00:36:21] I think this week's episode was fantastic for him.
[00:36:24] If he ends up winning the season, I think he could go down as one
[00:36:26] of the strongest players in the new era.
[00:36:28] So he's really like you said, there's so much, I think specifically
[00:36:32] in the new era, so much importance on like timing and being patient and
[00:36:36] maintain those relationships and like building them up until the time to like
[00:36:39] strike is correct.
[00:36:41] And I think Charlie's just really put on a show on how to do that.
[00:36:46] Very patient.
[00:36:46] How about you, Wendell?
[00:36:47] Did you, did you start off the season with a favorite?
[00:36:50] I think I was, I was, I think I predicted Tim as my, as my winner.
[00:36:56] And now man, I think that with Charlie and Maria, you have Maria
[00:37:05] being the one that voted for Charlie that is still on the island
[00:37:08] going into next episode.
[00:37:09] Maria is this strong player.
[00:37:12] We've seen her win.
[00:37:13] So there's going to be a lot of eyes on her.
[00:37:15] She just shatters this beautiful partnership that they've had.
[00:37:22] A lot of eyes are going to be on her.
[00:37:24] Publicly.
[00:37:25] Yes.
[00:37:26] And, and Charlie is this, this character that's been like moving
[00:37:30] and mastermind mining as well.
[00:37:33] So I'm scared for Maria, Bryce.
[00:37:36] I'm high on Charlie.
[00:37:38] I'm scared for Maria, high on Charlie, but I could see them
[00:37:42] gunning for Charlie too.
[00:37:44] Um, and he, and she's good enough to sway them to do that.
[00:37:48] It's possible, right?
[00:37:49] Even though she's in a bad place going into the next episode, she's,
[00:37:54] she can figure it out and she can do well with this because you'll,
[00:37:59] well, I did a survivor league this year.
[00:38:02] In fact, it's funny.
[00:38:04] The day we flew back from, from BG, we walk into the LA airport.
[00:38:10] I've ordered a Jersey Mike sandwich.
[00:38:13] I'm like lost 30 pounds.
[00:38:14] I'm sitting there eating my sandwich.
[00:38:17] This little girl walks up with her dad and she goes, are you
[00:38:22] a guy from survivor?
[00:38:23] I literally landed.
[00:38:24] We haven't, I mean, but they put the commercial on TV and this
[00:38:29] girl at 11 years old, Natalie literally saw, saw me got her dad
[00:38:34] and her dad comes over.
[00:38:35] I, and I was freaked out because I just got back and I told him like,
[00:38:40] well, dad, I can't, I, I can't tell you what I am, but I clearly,
[00:38:43] you guys like survivor.
[00:38:44] Tell you what, dad, give me your email.
[00:38:48] Um, I'll take a picture on my camera of us.
[00:38:50] And if the season happens to go anywhere, I'll send you this picture.
[00:38:55] So though that family's become a very close special family, they're really
[00:38:59] cool and I'm going to survive her league with those guys.
[00:39:02] So it's really funny.
[00:39:04] It's come full circle, but that's why I was asking, cause the
[00:39:07] beginning of the season, I was like, okay, I'm thinking Maria.
[00:39:10] Cause I usually go, I'm going to be honest here.
[00:39:12] I'm always going to go probably for the older character.
[00:39:14] I got to pick an older character to go for, but she was like, I'm
[00:39:18] like, she's got life experience.
[00:39:19] She's got a look.
[00:39:20] I think she's got a good one.
[00:39:22] And there were several to choose from where, you know, it was really hard.
[00:39:25] Probably had five.
[00:39:26] I had a really packed down, but, um, pick Maria.
[00:39:30] Does that mean that Jalinski was your winner pick?
[00:39:35] I had Maria down.
[00:39:36] I still have her down as my number one, but Charlie, I, I, as of right
[00:39:41] now, looking down the barrel of, of the final, I think Charlie's in
[00:39:45] the driver's seat, maybe Kenzie on the outside, hard to say.
[00:39:49] Uh, Mike, more like this.
[00:39:52] Charlie's when you were at the airport, Mike, and you took the photo with Natalie
[00:39:57] and her dad and you gave them all those stipulations.
[00:40:01] Do you think they walked away?
[00:40:02] It was like, he not a survivor or do you feel like they was like,
[00:40:06] Oh, he definitely on survive?
[00:40:09] Yeah.
[00:40:10] I'm not sure I'd be a good spy.
[00:40:11] Um, it was, I was just like, cause you know, right when you
[00:40:16] leave the Island, you're in BG.
[00:40:18] The last thing they tell you is don't say anything to anybody, you know,
[00:40:22] stick rules, all this stuff.
[00:40:24] And I'm getting on the plane from LA to go to Boise.
[00:40:27] I get a Jersey night sub and right there.
[00:40:31] And I was just like, wow, this is going to be such a crazy ride.
[00:40:34] And it has me.
[00:40:36] What was, uh, what was throwing me off when I got back before my season
[00:40:41] aired, I think our cast leaked and you get these people that are just
[00:40:46] fans that just want to stand you writing in your comments and like people
[00:40:51] are writing King Wendell, King of King of survivor 36 winner of survivor 36.
[00:40:55] I'm like, how do they know I'm deleting certain comments?
[00:41:02] And it's just like, you got these people that they just pick
[00:41:04] someone and they latch on.
[00:41:05] And, but how, how am I to know that?
[00:41:07] You know?
[00:41:09] Yeah.
[00:41:09] Yeah.
[00:41:09] That would, that would be really crazy.
[00:41:12] That would be really crazy.
[00:41:13] Mike, can I ask you a hypothetical question?
[00:41:16] Yes, sir.
[00:41:16] You coming back from Fiji and you live in Idaho, right?
[00:41:21] Yes, sir.
[00:41:22] And say you, there are four other survivor people that are in Idaho
[00:41:27] and you come back and you like, you're, you know, the survivor community.
[00:41:31] Would you reach out to the four other people in Idaho to be like,
[00:41:34] Hey, how you, how you doing?
[00:41:35] Nice to meet you.
[00:41:36] I'm in the survivor community or would you just, you know,
[00:41:39] reach out to everybody but one person?
[00:41:41] I was, I just talked within our, within our cast, within our cast.
[00:41:45] I kept it really quiet until I was, you know, Jeff said to us before the
[00:41:49] island and he goes, look, yeah, there's a lot of legal reasons.
[00:41:52] Don't leak it because we'll come after you, blah, blah.
[00:41:53] But it was more like don't mess it up for your friends and family.
[00:41:57] Cause let them enjoy the ride of what it is.
[00:42:01] And you know, like I don't, I, I don't want to know what I'm a fan.
[00:42:05] Number one, right?
[00:42:06] We're all fans of the show and I don't want to know.
[00:42:08] Like, I don't want to be spoiled.
[00:42:09] Jackie, you're talking about your uncle.
[00:42:10] It's like, we don't want to be spoiled.
[00:42:12] It's like, I want to, I want to do it myself.
[00:42:16] All right.
[00:42:16] Let me rephrase the question.
[00:42:18] Uh, Mike, after the cast is revealed and you know, it's
[00:42:22] like you're on survivor and it's like 10 days until your season airs.
[00:42:26] Would you reach out to the other survivors in your community?
[00:42:29] Like, Hey, my name's Mike.
[00:42:30] Like, you know,
[00:42:32] you know, I would now absolutely.
[00:42:35] Okay.
[00:42:37] But I wasn't on anything.
[00:42:40] I wasn't on Instagram or Twitter or in fact, when I was doing my application
[00:42:44] for survivor, they're like pages of list, all your social stuff.
[00:42:47] I'm like, I have email and a cell.
[00:42:52] So I just, I was learning social media as I was coming back from
[00:42:58] survivor so that I could have a, an Instagram and a Twitter or X post
[00:43:04] able for the season.
[00:43:06] And I took me like, you know, I started it in July, July, you know,
[00:43:09] I started off with like me and a one friend and they all keep
[00:43:12] growth, but it was, but I just built it.
[00:43:14] So I wasn't very internet savvy to answer your question.
[00:43:17] Okay.
[00:43:18] But hypothetical, like say there was like a phone book and you
[00:43:23] know, I had people on it.
[00:43:24] Would you reach out to the community and say like, Hey, my name's Mike.
[00:43:26] How you doing?
[00:43:28] The community reached out to me.
[00:43:30] Okay.
[00:43:30] Right.
[00:43:31] You can really reach out to me.
[00:43:32] Okay.
[00:43:33] Well, that's funny.
[00:43:33] You say that because Bryce is trying to draw an analogy from when I got back
[00:43:37] and I hit up Russell Swan, but I didn't hit up Bryce.
[00:43:40] And what's funny is the community.
[00:43:41] Okay.
[00:43:43] To me, just like, just like I reached out to him, but come to find out
[00:43:47] he had hit every, like, like Mike, he, there was like a million messages
[00:43:53] like, hello, Sandra, my name is Wendell and I'm a huge fan.
[00:43:57] No, it's literally
[00:43:58] you're showing in the winners group chat, man.
[00:44:01] You guys are good friends.
[00:44:02] You can just tell nobody takes it out of each other.
[00:44:05] Like a good friend, that's a good rousing ride.
[00:44:09] But I know that you will reach out to me, Mike.
[00:44:11] That's why.
[00:44:12] You know, I reach out to all the new survivor people.
[00:44:15] I mean, I try to reach out to them if they're on Instagram or something
[00:44:19] and just, you know, like wish them luck and welcome them to the survivor
[00:44:23] family.
[00:44:23] I, in fact, I didn't know what a great survivor community we had
[00:44:27] until going to Bryce and Wendell events.
[00:44:30] I didn't realize how amazing and if anybody's never been to one of those,
[00:44:35] I think it's one of the most fun things I've ever done as a survivor
[00:44:39] person, cause it's just everybody's talking survivor and there's all
[00:44:43] these survivors in there, which is cool.
[00:44:46] Cause like, it's very flat.
[00:44:47] Everybody on everybody's a fan and once in a while, a fan gets to play,
[00:44:52] which is super exciting.
[00:44:53] Cause you know, I'll never be the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.
[00:44:56] Jack Wendell, maybe Bryce, but I don't, I don't, I'm very unlikely,
[00:45:00] but any of us could be on survivor and chances are we could, you know,
[00:45:05] there's a, if you hold it together and get a little lucky, you might win.
[00:45:08] And that's what's exciting.
[00:45:09] Cause it's a, it's a hero story every week of, cause you never
[00:45:13] know who's going to rise up and just find something in themselves
[00:45:17] and just do something mind blowing.
[00:45:20] And they do it every week.
[00:45:22] Yeah.
[00:45:23] You never know when Q's going to rise up and find the idol on the island.
[00:45:30] I was around on Q.
[00:45:31] I really enjoyed him.
[00:45:33] Um, he was, he went from a disaster to a, I just, I loved watching him.
[00:45:38] I was cheering for him.
[00:45:39] I was hoping he played that at day idol.
[00:45:42] And just like Chris noble, he went home with an idol in his pocket.
[00:45:48] He did.
[00:45:49] Do you, do you think this trend that we are seeing specifically on the season
[00:45:54] with everyone going home with an idol?
[00:45:56] Do you think you can correlate it to the same thing about them being
[00:46:00] so pressed about their resume?
[00:46:02] That's like, I need to play it.
[00:46:04] I need to make it the right move instead of like the right
[00:46:06] move is actually just even if it's good or bad, play it and be here tomorrow.
[00:46:12] Several of them.
[00:46:13] Well, all of them, several, uh, it's been four though.
[00:46:18] Jim should five now.
[00:46:21] Yeah.
[00:46:22] The last four in a row.
[00:46:23] So that was Jim Hunter, Tiffany, Venus Q.
[00:46:27] That's not, they were in a row.
[00:46:29] Last four were back to back to back.
[00:46:31] Not idols.
[00:46:32] No, cause Jim was pre-merged and then the last four, the last
[00:46:35] four, Tiffany, Venus and Q.
[00:46:38] You're right.
[00:46:39] It's crazy.
[00:46:41] You know, I think people are looking at, at, uh, when they find these
[00:46:45] idols, like a 401k, they're gold bars.
[00:46:48] They're cash money.
[00:46:49] You pay, you don't wait for them 20 years to appreciate.
[00:46:54] You got to get in it.
[00:46:55] And I think that that's been, I don't think, I think people watching
[00:46:59] the season will be more, a little bit quicker to pull the trigger
[00:47:03] because I think when people start realizing you have an idol, you
[00:47:07] need to need to play it unless you're Faraz or somebody else that
[00:47:10] can really use it multiple ways.
[00:47:12] It can end up biting you.
[00:47:14] Uh, it's, it's a tough conversation for me because.
[00:47:18] You know, I've never been out there with an idol in my pocket.
[00:47:21] No, you know, feeling that burning of the idol.
[00:47:24] Uh, but I do think it's like a lot of the people that are
[00:47:28] going home with the idols, right?
[00:47:29] There's sort of a cost benefit because you could play it quickly
[00:47:33] and make sure you don't go home with in your pocket.
[00:47:35] But I do respect that in the mindset of them wanting to play a great game.
[00:47:41] Now, did they all have the chops for it?
[00:47:43] Not necessarily, but in the mindset of wanting to make those big moves
[00:47:46] to put a stamp on your resume and have something to talk about
[00:47:50] when you get to the end, you're going to be a little bit riskier with it
[00:47:53] because you want to make sure you use it right rather than using
[00:47:57] it in a really simple way.
[00:47:58] And not to say that you want to go home with an idol and obviously
[00:48:01] five in one season is unprecedented.
[00:48:03] And I think a lot of these specific players had a lot of reasons.
[00:48:07] It's easier to say from the couch, but it's a lot of reasons to play it.
[00:48:10] But I do think having the mindset of, you know, you want to go big or go home.
[00:48:14] If you're not first, your last does encourage holding onto that
[00:48:17] idol a little bit more closely.
[00:48:19] So I think that makes sense, Jack.
[00:48:21] Right.
[00:48:21] But however, I feel like the last four in a row, their names came up
[00:48:26] and if they came, that's enough.
[00:48:30] It wasn't like it came out of nowhere.
[00:48:32] It's like every tribal Q's name has been on there.
[00:48:35] Venus's name.
[00:48:36] It's like you probably need to do that.
[00:48:39] And then even Hunter knew his name was shooting around and just went ahead
[00:48:44] and, you know, he got a little unlucky with the tie, but still, you know,
[00:48:46] if you don't have the votes, if you're in doubt, you got to play it.
[00:48:50] You know, I think that's it.
[00:48:51] If you're not really agree with you because like you said specifically
[00:48:56] Hunter, Venus and Q, if you know your name is one of the two options,
[00:49:02] I think that is when you have to play it.
[00:49:04] So again, the rambling before about I think that was what the correlation
[00:49:10] I was looking at with Bryce talking about.
[00:49:12] OK, I think these are players who want to make bigger moves.
[00:49:15] But with some of these instances we're seeing here, there are players
[00:49:17] that want to make bigger moves.
[00:49:19] We just might not happen to be the best at the game and executing those
[00:49:23] moves, but I think that's why it's made the season so entertaining
[00:49:25] as we have players shooting for the stars who might not have
[00:49:29] had a single piece to build that rocket.
[00:49:32] Yes.
[00:49:32] So I like that.
[00:49:35] And it has been fun.
[00:49:36] I mean, it was it was pretty delicious.
[00:49:38] Some of those were pretty delicious because you're like,
[00:49:40] there's no way that they're not going to play.
[00:49:42] Are they setting this up like it's going to be a because
[00:49:45] they'll say something.
[00:49:46] I know Venus in her show, her last show,
[00:49:51] said something even like, I've got this.
[00:49:53] I think I'm not going to play it tonight because I'm
[00:49:55] going to do something better with it.
[00:49:56] You're like, OK, that's a breadcrumb that Jeff tasty little morsel
[00:50:01] he tucked in there.
[00:50:02] And sure enough, I couldn't believe it because she was to start to warm up
[00:50:06] the hurt, you know, she was she was starting.
[00:50:07] I'm like, she might be cracking into this.
[00:50:09] You got this thing with Kenzie going and then just got Bushwhacked,
[00:50:14] especially as we get later in the season.
[00:50:16] But like that's that's sort of what I said is when you're at
[00:50:18] when you're a gem spot and it's pre merge,
[00:50:21] if you're getting voted out with an item in your pocket, pre merge,
[00:50:25] maybe then you're just not going to you're not cut out
[00:50:27] to make it that deep in the game.
[00:50:29] But in that sense, it's OK to hold on to the idol
[00:50:31] because it's sort of like a gamble where if I have to play it now,
[00:50:35] I'm probably in trouble going forward.
[00:50:37] But we are at the final six, the final seven.
[00:50:39] You're close to that.
[00:50:40] You're close to securing that win.
[00:50:42] And yet by yourself a day, a day.
[00:50:45] A lot can happen in a day and you know, by yourself that time.
[00:50:48] You know, I had an idol on day one or two on my season.
[00:50:53] It was good for my first two tribal councils.
[00:50:55] And I ended up it's on my wall.
[00:50:57] And, you know, over there, it's like I did never did end up playing it.
[00:51:01] And I kind of used it to because people thought I had it
[00:51:04] and they didn't know if I had it.
[00:51:05] They looked at my bag.
[00:51:06] You know, it's like we kind of were
[00:51:09] and I was able to use it
[00:51:11] like defensively, because if you tell somebody that you're
[00:51:15] you're going to play your idol,
[00:51:16] you're going to play your shot in the dark.
[00:51:18] And there's only a handful of people to vote for.
[00:51:19] You're like, well, it's Wendell's got an idol.
[00:51:22] Bryce is shot in the dark.
[00:51:24] You know, let's vote for Jack because he's got nothing.
[00:51:27] And it's let's get to another day.
[00:51:29] And that's sometimes what does happen.
[00:51:31] Yeah, right.
[00:51:33] Yeah. And in a way, you having an expiration on your idol
[00:51:36] makes it easier because people are like, well, you know, let them
[00:51:39] let them rock for two for two time to tribals with this idol.
[00:51:42] We don't want to take that basically a 50-50 chance.
[00:51:45] You get through the first one, then you know, it's guaranteed
[00:51:48] that you can like then you're going to use it for sure.
[00:51:51] So that's what I've said about past new era seasons
[00:51:54] where the idols have been very visible and sometimes having them be so visible,
[00:52:00] kind of just scares people off of throwing your name out at all.
[00:52:03] But this season has been quite the contrary.
[00:52:05] Obviously, Q and Venus, their idols were pretty secret.
[00:52:08] But even like Tiffany Hunter,
[00:52:12] their idols were a little bit more public,
[00:52:14] but people were willing to take that shot.
[00:52:16] So, yeah.
[00:52:18] What do you guys think this this is jumping forward?
[00:52:20] But what do you guys think about Q sharing with Maria that he got the
[00:52:23] from the idol?
[00:52:25] I think it was solid.
[00:52:27] If that's if that's your number one at this point,
[00:52:29] which it's its own conversation of like, should you want to go deep
[00:52:32] with Maria sharing it with that just that one person
[00:52:36] where you know you can make that move is not and especially this late
[00:52:39] in the game, because early on, it's like you share it with your number one.
[00:52:42] You have to trust that they're going to be with you until this idol
[00:52:44] sees, you know, whether it gets played or whether it gets
[00:52:47] you know, which is a lot of tribals.
[00:52:49] But here it's like if you're just with your number one,
[00:52:51] it's like how do we best use this for the next two tribals?
[00:52:55] I think that's a more easy conversation to have with someone you trust.
[00:52:58] But don't you think that like?
[00:53:02] I don't know. You only have two tribals and.
[00:53:06] From Q's stance, like Maria is the one person
[00:53:08] that really reached out to him and nourish that relationship.
[00:53:11] But Maria has connections elsewhere.
[00:53:14] So, I mean, she's been with Charlie and you don't necessarily know
[00:53:20] that she's ready to really take that shot at him.
[00:53:22] So I don't know. I'm like, I question it.
[00:53:24] I'm with you, Wendell.
[00:53:25] I think I mean, if you're past if you're past the merge,
[00:53:30] I mean, if you're certainly past the final 10, your final eight,
[00:53:34] you get to six. That's such thin air.
[00:53:37] Get your base camp another thousand feet up by just dropping it.
[00:53:41] If you if you're so lucky to find it on the beach and I mean,
[00:53:45] chaos should be spelled with a Q in the front because he's just lit up.
[00:53:50] He had people he knew was going to go after him.
[00:53:53] Liz, for sure.
[00:53:54] And he probably should have just kept that quiet and just played it.
[00:53:59] If he even smelled it, smelled anything.
[00:54:02] But even so, if you're at six, you just play it because you got to get to five.
[00:54:06] This is where I think it's the biggest misstep of Q and Maria,
[00:54:10] where after Maria won immunity,
[00:54:14] why wouldn't you all devise the plan to say Q play your idol?
[00:54:19] I know they're gunning for you.
[00:54:20] They're not going to come after me.
[00:54:22] I'm going to hop on board with them.
[00:54:24] I'm letting you know because you know,
[00:54:26] because you know, you got to let you know if you can say his name
[00:54:29] or else all hell is going to break.
[00:54:31] But I really thought that like she should have had him play his idol
[00:54:34] and they vote Charlie.
[00:54:36] I feel like that could have been super smart.
[00:54:38] Bryce, super smart.
[00:54:40] That's one of your best ideas I've heard.
[00:54:44] Me too. Credit to you, Bryce.
[00:54:46] You're guaranteed.
[00:54:47] She is guaranteed and he will guarantee himself.
[00:54:50] Y'all can pick whoever you want.
[00:54:52] That's why I thought it was such a blunder by Maria.
[00:54:55] And this is the point why maybe I think it's good for someone like Q
[00:54:59] to share with Maria because Maria is getting a lot more intel than Q is.
[00:55:03] And Maria should have known if Q was the other option.
[00:55:07] Yes. Have him play it.
[00:55:09] There was something in her.
[00:55:11] And I feel like she's like, maybe if we get to five, he'll play it for me.
[00:55:14] But it's just like just focus on the here and now.
[00:55:17] But ultimately, my biggest issue where I thought Maria and Q
[00:55:21] really, really blundered when it was telling everybody.
[00:55:24] No, no, they didn't tell everybody.
[00:55:25] It was more just like what makes them think that Liz and Kenzie
[00:55:30] are going to go with them over Charlie and Ben?
[00:55:32] Like, you know that Liz does with you.
[00:55:35] You know that you're like, you know that your threats you've seen blatantly.
[00:55:40] Like we talk about with Charlie picking for reward,
[00:55:42] how much better he did that than Maria did.
[00:55:45] You have to have some self-awareness to be like,
[00:55:48] there's a chance they don't vote with us and then just play the idol.
[00:55:51] Yeah, I thought it was a really big misstep.
[00:55:54] That's why I was going to say I want to give Liz her credit, right?
[00:55:57] Because I was shocked when Q went over to her.
[00:56:00] I was like, let's do Charlie.
[00:56:02] I said, look at Liz out here going like, OK, yeah, you're right.
[00:56:05] I'll do it. But that's also where I'm like Q.
[00:56:08] The one thing the gift Liz has given you this season
[00:56:13] is letting you know what side of the fence she is on.
[00:56:17] Yeah. Why would you get that comfortable
[00:56:19] to think that you could then just sway Liz over?
[00:56:22] That's why I was like, Q, what are you doing?
[00:56:24] Super great point. Yeah. That item.
[00:56:27] Totally agree.
[00:56:28] It's like, why do you expect these people to vote with you over Charlie
[00:56:31] and Ben? Like, it can be so close with Ben too.
[00:56:34] It's like what? Yeah.
[00:56:36] And you know, she's the canary in the coal mine.
[00:56:39] Basically, Liz is the canary in the coal mine where if Q goes up to her
[00:56:44] and he's just at all paying attention to what she's going to do
[00:56:47] instead of trying to cajole her to vote a different way
[00:56:49] that she's not going to do anyways, just see what she says
[00:56:52] and read that energy and bank on it.
[00:56:55] Yeah, because Q loves to throw out the plan.
[00:56:59] And then but it's when you're throwing out all the plans,
[00:57:01] if you were just like, sounds good.
[00:57:02] You can't really get a read.
[00:57:04] Yeah. Yeah.
[00:57:06] And it's also like, I guess, like an always that Q was going to be his
[00:57:09] like his worst, his own worst enemy, right?
[00:57:12] Where it's like Q got a little power and now he's thinking
[00:57:15] he can like take charge of the troops and it's like you know.
[00:57:21] But I was like, OK, I was interesting just to see Liz
[00:57:25] going along with the thing.
[00:57:26] I was like, wow, like, look at Liz being able to kind of like
[00:57:28] pull herself in and kind of play a role.
[00:57:30] So I was like, I see you, Liz.
[00:57:34] She did. Yeah.
[00:57:35] Yes, she's she's been in.
[00:57:36] She's been a Jordan watch as well.
[00:57:38] Yes. Yeah.
[00:57:39] Fun season of people.
[00:57:41] I think and I remember I hear I heard Jake O'Kane
[00:57:44] talk a little bit about it on the rap live where he was like these.
[00:57:48] This idle situation is so tough to to analyze
[00:57:50] because every situation is its own situation.
[00:57:53] It's like you can't.
[00:57:54] There's no rule of thumb.
[00:57:56] Like if you have an idol, just play it.
[00:57:57] That's that's right. Yeah.
[00:57:59] But it's so it's so dependent on the situation.
[00:58:04] But we talked about all the flags, the red flags.
[00:58:08] There was like a sky full of red flags for Q.
[00:58:12] It should have been like, you know, this could be exactly.
[00:58:16] I think, you know, he probably needed.
[00:58:18] I think you nailed it when you said that he got his idol
[00:58:22] and he went from the ground floor to the penthouse mentally.
[00:58:26] And he was just like, OK, man, I got my I got my back.
[00:58:30] And he's calling the shots. He's talking.
[00:58:32] OK, Liz, you do.
[00:58:33] And he forgot that he still got a bunch of people aiming at him.
[00:58:37] And it probably just overrode his.
[00:58:40] Yes. Well, that's what I mean, I kind of lost my train of thought.
[00:58:43] But I think that the key signals that I would point to,
[00:58:46] to try to like generalize the idol players.
[00:58:49] Do I know the alternative plan?
[00:58:52] And if I don't, if I don't know the alternative plan,
[00:58:56] would it make sense that that alternative plan is me? Right.
[00:58:59] And so, I mean, here Q knows should know from Maria
[00:59:03] that the alternative plan is him.
[00:59:07] But in the past situations, it's like maybe for Tiffany,
[00:59:10] where that's a little bit more hard to get that read,
[00:59:12] then you could be like, OK, I don't know who
[00:59:16] who so and so we're voting for. Right.
[00:59:18] Like she knows the plan was Q, but she doesn't know what Q's plan is.
[00:59:22] And ultimately, maybe Q's plan, if people know you have an idol,
[00:59:26] then that blind side of you makes sense.
[00:59:27] Maybe that's what prompts it.
[00:59:29] But if you're like at the merge and it's the final 12
[00:59:32] and you have an idol and you know, like, OK, like Bryce and Wendell
[00:59:35] are voting for Gabler, but Gabler and Jack are voting for Wendell.
[00:59:38] And there are all these movie pieces.
[00:59:40] My name hasn't come up.
[00:59:42] OK, then you don't need to play your idol.
[00:59:43] Like it should be all right.
[00:59:46] Yeah, I really there's a world where call me crazy.
[00:59:52] But I feel like Q not playing that idol
[00:59:55] could have really been a million dollar fumble for him because
[01:00:01] I was like in the beginning, Q could never win.
[01:00:03] But oh, yeah, but he could win.
[01:00:05] He was he was he was shifting gears.
[01:00:07] He was in the plane. Yeah.
[01:00:09] And again, it reminds me again of like Tony from my original season
[01:00:13] where it's like people in the game are hating you and don't like you.
[01:00:16] But the fact that you're able to get to that end
[01:00:19] and have that job interview and what you could do in that interview.
[01:00:23] What a story he would be able to tell.
[01:00:26] And some of the Twitter activity about Q's
[01:00:31] exit now from the from the 46 cast.
[01:00:34] No, no. Oh, they were right.
[01:00:38] They were ripping it and they were doing my favorite really.
[01:00:42] You know how early in the season Q was talking about,
[01:00:45] like it reminds me of back in high school,
[01:00:46] like I was the captain of the football team and we're in the state championship.
[01:00:49] And then the title of the newspaper was like Q like Burdette fumbles.
[01:00:55] Jolinski tweeted last night he tweeted Burdette fumbles.
[01:01:00] And then, I mean, Jess was going in on him
[01:01:04] is several just said something like that's what you get.
[01:01:08] On my face or whatever.
[01:01:10] What did he say?
[01:01:11] That's what you get for giving me that fake idol or something like that.
[01:01:15] Oh, yeah. Right.
[01:01:18] You know what he also did?
[01:01:21] Hot take.
[01:01:22] He turned on the season and he turned to one to steal in the kitchen.
[01:01:26] Made this one of these seasons that we will always remember.
[01:01:30] And he he made this season.
[01:01:33] Oh, yeah, for sure.
[01:01:34] It's been a very he's had a huge impact.
[01:01:37] He's been fun to watch.
[01:01:39] His commentary is great.
[01:01:41] Bad idea. He's got he's just he's had a good
[01:01:44] Christmas Q skirt like his six that he demolished.
[01:01:48] There are so many things that he did this season.
[01:01:51] I mean, yeah, because it was it was kind of a soft start with,
[01:01:56] you know, a little Jolinski was awesome.
[01:01:59] Bonnie who struggled for a little while there.
[01:02:01] And that was kind of hard because it was so hard to watch the poor guy
[01:02:05] struggling and then you're like, but you're also like, OK, the game.
[01:02:09] Let's get let's get it going.
[01:02:11] Pull them off the field.
[01:02:12] Let them go. Let the guys go.
[01:02:13] But it's certainly started with with Bonnie and and Q
[01:02:18] and the gang because it was very fun.
[01:02:21] Yeah, it definitely picked it started slow, but picked up to be a great host.
[01:02:25] Murray's 100. Yeah.
[01:02:28] For sure. It's a quandary.
[01:02:31] But you know, he was I think he's virtually potentially a lock for season
[01:02:35] 50 because he was whether you love him or you hate him,
[01:02:37] you feel some type of way about him.
[01:02:39] And that's what makes such a compelling.
[01:02:40] You're going to watch.
[01:02:41] Yeah, on his interview, his last line is
[01:02:46] if you don't call me for Survivor 50, cancel
[01:02:50] or vibe them. Oh, wait, dude, that's awesome.
[01:02:55] OK, he's probably I'd say he'd be great TV.
[01:02:57] I know I'd be watching.
[01:02:59] So I tune in. Yeah.
[01:03:03] It's interesting.
[01:03:05] I saw it's just a discussion about season 50, though, where it's like
[01:03:08] a lot of these players that bring back that could be brought back
[01:03:12] now have this understanding of like the perception of them.
[01:03:15] And so they might play into that perception too much rather than being
[01:03:19] like their authentic self, which created that fun
[01:03:24] caricature of them.
[01:03:25] So it's almost like you'd see Q come back.
[01:03:27] I can only imagine he'd have like the most insane antics.
[01:03:32] He would have like licensed Q skirts he'd be wearing.
[01:03:35] I don't know how I would feel about it, but it would be unreal for sure.
[01:03:40] And I definitely would love to see Q back.
[01:03:43] But I think similar to Tony from my season, his first time
[01:03:47] returning when you have such a big personality
[01:03:51] like that, it can work for you or you could like kind of fumble
[01:03:55] really early. So yeah, I think that'd be a high danger of that.
[01:04:00] Yeah. Tony sort of played in that caricature of himself too,
[01:04:03] where day one he was like, all right, I'm looking for idols.
[01:04:06] That's right. That's right.
[01:04:07] So it got him. It got him knocked out.
[01:04:10] And there's also jealousy.
[01:04:12] And there's also I don't want to see this person.
[01:04:15] I'm not even going to let him have this.
[01:04:18] Yeah, like I could see I could see that really backfiring.
[01:04:23] You know what? That's really good.
[01:04:24] Yeah, that would be the only thing about not building him on there,
[01:04:27] because I think unless he but you know, we're assuming
[01:04:29] he'll be the same Q or Q type two, which is even bigger.
[01:04:33] And, you know, when Boston Robb came back, he his his game,
[01:04:37] he tried to do like the same thing when he was the Robb boss.
[01:04:40] And what worked for him on the last season did not work here.
[01:04:43] And he didn't was able to make that adjustment.
[01:04:45] I think if Q is going to be successful, it'll have to be
[01:04:48] a whole new Q that we see.
[01:04:51] It'll have Q isms because he's he's naturally going to do those.
[01:04:55] And I hope so. I hope that never stops.
[01:04:57] But he'll have to be a different Q, because if he otherwise
[01:05:01] is going to be put in the Q box of chaos and no one's going to want to work with him.
[01:05:05] My exact suggestion is to study Tony's three seasons.
[01:05:10] If I'm suggesting anything to Q, because we will see him on season 50.
[01:05:14] Hey, Q, my friend, look at how they did them on Game Changers.
[01:05:20] Yeah. Look at Tony came to Winners at War.
[01:05:23] I could not recognize this person.
[01:05:25] He was he was so humbled.
[01:05:28] He would build the shelter with me all day.
[01:05:30] I'm like, where is to I'm like, and he just stayed so low.
[01:05:35] Meanwhile, he was up all night looking for idols.
[01:05:37] But we would this was an unrecognizable Tony.
[01:05:41] And Game Changer Game Changers humanized him so much
[01:05:46] that it's like, man, we could get this guy out any time.
[01:05:48] Yes. But as he got some steam and turned it on.
[01:05:53] So Q Quintavius Burdett, my friend.
[01:05:57] Study study Tony's three seasons and play like his third season
[01:06:02] if you come back and then turn that Q off.
[01:06:04] Excellent advice, excellent advice.
[01:06:07] Also remember, Q is not the only colorful character
[01:06:10] in the Survivor catalog, right?
[01:06:12] Like, and so I think that there is a world where he could be around.
[01:06:16] Like there's a world where Q could really be low on the totem pole
[01:06:21] of personality, depending on who he's out there with.
[01:06:25] So it would it would be very interesting to see.
[01:06:27] Well, you know, for season 50, there's been a lot of things floated out
[01:06:31] that I don't know what they're going to do and nobody does.
[01:06:33] But as a fan, I kind of want all the things right.
[01:06:36] I'd love how great would it be if they had like 50 people,
[01:06:41] 50, five tribes of 10.
[01:06:43] Maybe you go a couple of days with that.
[01:06:45] And then everybody comes out of the jungle.
[01:06:48] There's 50 fire making stations and the top 20 to make fire go.
[01:06:52] I mean, you could do that.
[01:06:53] You could have five tribes of 10 competing for 50 days for five million
[01:06:58] bucks or do whatever you want to do.
[01:07:00] There could be all kinds of cool things going.
[01:07:03] I saw that advertisement for this thing.
[01:07:06] Beat the Beast games, Mr.
[01:07:08] Beast and that's for five million.
[01:07:10] So and you know, winners at wars for two million.
[01:07:12] This is about to be season 50.
[01:07:13] I can see them doing a special number for 50.
[01:07:17] Gable.
[01:07:18] I would.
[01:07:18] I think that's only fair.
[01:07:20] I think it'd be, you know, put all the things out there.
[01:07:23] I'd love to see.
[01:07:24] I think it's going to be exciting.
[01:07:26] Jeff, I mean, Jeff's the biggest survivor fan of anybody.
[01:07:28] So, you know, it's going to be good.
[01:07:31] I just I just can't wait.
[01:07:32] It's like Christmas.
[01:07:33] You got to wait like a couple years for it.
[01:07:35] It's going to be good.
[01:07:37] Is that why they've been cutting this budget for these last six
[01:07:41] seasons?
[01:07:42] They've been like holding back so that I can only imagine if they
[01:07:48] did do that, that would be so sick because those those were
[01:07:53] 300 people on the crew that take care of the build those
[01:07:57] amazing challenge contraptions that we do and when you come
[01:08:00] out of the jungle, it's it's really amazing how big they
[01:08:05] actually are right there.
[01:08:07] Like it's like two football fields and your ears is like
[01:08:11] wow, they built it in just really incredible.
[01:08:14] It's also a little intimidating but because you're Jeff
[01:08:16] walks you through it, you got three minutes to figure it out
[01:08:19] and then you go so or just the size of the crew itself is
[01:08:25] intimidating in my opinion.
[01:08:26] Like it's like all these people just that would have looked
[01:08:28] like on TV.
[01:08:30] Yeah, it's wild.
[01:08:31] It is wild.
[01:08:32] Yeah, but regardless we have our final five and I mean,
[01:08:39] I don't think I could have predicted this final five several
[01:08:42] days ago.
[01:08:44] Yeah, can we all lock in a winner pick going into the
[01:08:48] finale?
[01:08:50] Okay, I will.
[01:08:52] I'm ready to die.
[01:08:53] Okay.
[01:08:53] All right.
[01:08:54] I'm I'm going with my doctor Maria.
[01:08:56] I just I don't care.
[01:08:58] I'll go Charlie.
[01:09:02] I'm going I was Maria was my pick.
[01:09:04] I'm sticking with her.
[01:09:06] Yeah, I'm sticking with Maria.
[01:09:07] I'm sticking Maria.
[01:09:08] I'll even the numbers out going Charlie too.
[01:09:11] So can we can we give a moment to Maria for her her
[01:09:16] challenge win.
[01:09:18] Oh, yeah, let's talk about that.
[01:09:19] That was clutch.
[01:09:20] She had to do it.
[01:09:22] Yeah, no the puzzle fun puzzle too.
[01:09:25] That was a fun puzzle.
[01:09:26] It was super fun.
[01:09:27] She was she was such a clutch win.
[01:09:29] That was a big win, you know when you need it you
[01:09:32] need it and you know like last season of Australian
[01:09:35] Survivor when Ferris you he hadn't won a single
[01:09:39] immunity all season he gets to the final and you know,
[01:09:42] just as able to do what he had to do because he was
[01:09:45] certainly going to go.
[01:09:46] And that's what real champions do out there.
[01:09:48] And I think it's really going to be fun because the
[01:09:50] final five left.
[01:09:52] I mean maybe the Survivor gods will lean towards
[01:09:55] Liz or Ben, but they haven't really looked at them
[01:09:58] fondly during challenges yet.
[01:10:00] So you think you got Charlie the challenge beast
[01:10:03] you got Maria up there and Kenzie is kind of the
[01:10:06] dark horse.
[01:10:07] You never know it's going to be amazing.
[01:10:10] Yeah, and Dr.
[01:10:11] Maria did that like just when she needed to do
[01:10:14] it and just her strength.
[01:10:15] And so sometimes I always feel like things don't
[01:10:17] happen when you want them to happen, right?
[01:10:19] And although she would have loved to read those
[01:10:21] letters from her son sons and children but like
[01:10:25] forget the letters.
[01:10:26] How amazing is it for them to see the roller
[01:10:29] coaster their mom went on in this episode and
[01:10:31] for her to come out like look at me.
[01:10:33] So I love that for her and for her children.
[01:10:37] Also, it's like I just want to give another
[01:10:39] shout out to from season 30 mama see I think
[01:10:42] there are so many similarities of Dr.
[01:10:45] Maria and mama see and I think that people
[01:10:47] forget the greatness mama see was out there.
[01:10:52] Mama see was kind of like counted out.
[01:10:54] She was allegedly older because when but when
[01:10:56] I see mama see in person, she's like 22.
[01:10:58] So I don't know why categorizing her as
[01:11:00] older but mama see had the social game mama
[01:11:04] see was a beast and mama see was a lethal
[01:11:07] and so I just see so many similarities
[01:11:10] between mama and Maria.
[01:11:11] And so again to shout out to Maria and also
[01:11:13] shout out the mama see.
[01:11:15] Great point great comparison.
[01:11:19] For sure.
[01:11:19] It's been special watching them and we'll
[01:11:22] see, you know, Kenzie's one that's you know,
[01:11:24] she's hiding in plain sight right now.
[01:11:26] I think she's somebody that cannot be
[01:11:30] underestimated right or or at your own peril.
[01:11:33] She's got Ben Ben owes her as well.
[01:11:37] They're close any owes her.
[01:11:39] I think she's got Liz.
[01:11:40] There's five people.
[01:11:42] So there's three to the math pansies in a
[01:11:45] real powerful spot and she's somebody that
[01:11:49] can win challenges as we've been proven
[01:11:52] and so it's going to come down to winning
[01:11:55] the immunity.
[01:11:56] I believe that's going to dictate everything.
[01:11:58] I think that's going to be very important.
[01:12:00] That's the thing.
[01:12:01] I think Maria might go at five if she
[01:12:02] doesn't win immunity and then I think
[01:12:04] Charlie could be a clear target at four,
[01:12:06] but it's just you know who's going to be
[01:12:07] who could be Charlie and fire is the big
[01:12:09] question for me and we don't really know
[01:12:12] that we know Liz is not really good on the
[01:12:13] fire, but I don't really know what Charlie
[01:12:15] Kenzie and Ben are where they're at with
[01:12:17] it.
[01:12:17] So if they can take Charlie out of four
[01:12:19] slash Charlie Maria in the next two votes,
[01:12:22] I mean, I think it's a it's an easy win
[01:12:23] for Kenzie.
[01:12:24] So she's definitely got a good shot.
[01:12:27] Yeah, yeah.
[01:12:28] Well, I guess we'll have to tune in next
[01:12:30] week to see what's going to happen.
[01:12:32] I will be in New York.
[01:12:33] I know Jack will find his way to be under
[01:12:37] a speaker somewhere in our finale to watch
[01:12:40] the episode Mike.
