[00:04:47] are you feeling I'm doing great is this baby girl meets the baby boys is that this is

[00:04:51] yeah

[00:04:53] it's definitely so how has your offseason been how have you been

[00:05:00] re-eclimating to life you know it's it's it's it's been a time I got a new job recently so I'm

[00:05:06] going into my third week on the new job mixing it up no longer a prosecutor I'm a divorce attorney

[00:05:13] now I'll do criminal defense work as well so new experiences it's been fun though it's decompression

[00:05:18] a little bit of the show it's been really cool and then all the response from fans and everything

[00:05:22] after it's been really cool now we're getting all this 46 stuff which is fun yeah how do you feel

[00:05:27] about that man like I mean you guys had one of arguably one of the greatest seasons that we've

[00:05:32] seen definitely in a while but now like 46 they're coming so like is there do you feel some kind

[00:05:38] of way or what you know what when I was like coming back from Fiji I was thinking all right if

[00:05:42] you're ranking new ever seasons and like what the fans think like I thought we were going to be

[00:05:46] smack in the middle but it's the season kept going I think the 90 minutes really helped us out

[00:05:49] but you know now 46 gets those 90 minutes too so that's like are we still gonna be that good

[00:05:54] I don't know well find out but like I think we got a great cast in our season but looking at the 46

[00:05:59] guys it looked like they got some really cool people in this so we'll see I mean I'm happy with our

[00:06:03] season you know but you still want to be a best you know sometimes I wish Ghost Island had 90

[00:06:08] minutes for real for real but I think Ghost Island gets too much crap no no I'm not trying to play

[00:06:13] K2 you I think it's a fun season especially if you were fancy in those old advantages and stuff

[00:06:18] yeah dom should have won but you know I'll take that yeah honestly if 46 somehow exceeds 45

[00:06:28] I mean that's a great problem for the survivor community to have exactly and speaking of survivor

[00:06:33] community Jake I'd love to know like what is your level of the survivor fandom are you at the

[00:06:38] Brandon Donnellan level are you a casual fan or do you see the show a time or two before you

[00:06:44] went on yeah so I've seen all the seasons I thought like I listen to like the podcast and stuff too

[00:06:50] like before I went out there like like just before I was even in the casting process like I thought

[00:06:55] I was a pretty big fan and then I met like Brandon and Brando and they're like ordering stuff off

[00:06:59] the you know the auction that they have at the end of the season with the props and I'm like I just

[00:07:04] might search the vibe wiki every once in a while like I'm not crying any of this stuff you know

[00:07:08] but I would go to like an event if there was if it was in Boston like I'd go to events and stuff

[00:07:13] you know not a lot but did you did you post COVID there were a lot of like COVID fans like they

[00:07:19] binge the whole thing were you a fan for like decades oh yeah so I started watching um one world

[00:07:25] so like what was that 2012 and then like that was kind of like a kind of half ass watch that

[00:07:30] but then like Philippines I was like all in like I just remember like one of the first scenes

[00:07:34] in Philippines it's Denise talking to Zane and everyone's in their underwear and then you know

[00:07:40] Denise says something it says sex therapist and my dad's like walking into the room as these two

[00:07:44] scenes take place and it's just like what are you watching and then it more became an active

[00:07:48] defiance right but but it was a great show and it just took up from there yeah and all of the

[00:07:54] seasons that you've seen you know what would you say is your favorite and was there a player from

[00:07:58] the past that you thought yeah I would love to kind of emulate this player's game going in

[00:08:03] yeah so I mean I think like my favorite season ever like I know it's a basic answer but like

[00:08:08] kaggyan because like yep yep yep yep it's just like you know cream of the crop like what do you

[00:08:15] this you can't really knock the season you just you can't and it's like I know it's the answer

[00:08:20] everyone says but it's like it's good I mean I never thought I was gonna be like Tony but like

[00:08:24] is a past player I identified with I always identified with like Chris D'Arty I felt like I kind of

[00:08:29] had that like scrap a combination of me so that's who like in my mind I'm like if I'm

[00:08:35] by myself on the bottom which I did hope that can be a story wasn't hoping to play it out to play

[00:08:42] that way but that's what it ended up happening well you are a scrap we're out there can you uh

[00:08:46] can you tell us a little bit about your preparation like my preparation going in is I got like a

[00:08:51] personal trainer I'm like hey this is what I like need to focus on um I got I got like pretty strong

[00:08:57] at least for like myself or going out there and then as far as like old seasons and stuff like

[00:09:03] I just watched new era I wasn't really trying to like watch the old stuff and get to mixed up with

[00:09:10] I feel like stuff that's not as relevant and then like I worked on puzzles and stuff I felt like

[00:09:15] I was like ready to go with puzzles it's just when I got out there like it was like okay Jake

[00:09:20] Bruce Kendra let's move these things because like I what was early bellow like for you those first

[00:09:26] couple of days how did you guys gel were you like I'm all survive I can't believe it or did you

[00:09:31] guys hit the beach running and like strategizing and and linking up or was it like a full

[00:09:38] circle moment like wow I went from the edit to now I'm out here and feed you

[00:09:44] yeah so the first the first couple days like I think honestly I think going to sweat and

[00:09:50] savvy kind of hurt me a little bit because like I was away for I think when those really like

[00:09:55] beginning relationships were made and then like night one at bellow I like heard all the girls

[00:10:02] talking about talking about me like while I was supposedly like asleep you know we're all lined

[00:10:07] up in a row and I made a comment during the day something along the lines are like oh I was happy

[00:10:12] that like I didn't have to wear a suit jacket as an attorney because like I wasn't hiding that

[00:10:15] and they're like yeah can you can you believe he said that it's like oh yeah whatever like

[00:10:19] Victoria said something too meanwhile she's got the suit jacket

[00:10:24] she like never wore it like she had jumped on the boat like you just just got wet she's like

[00:10:28] I just gross I don't want to wear it wicked smile on her pot but um yeah so I was like kind of

[00:10:33] on edge right cuz it's like damn it like I like out a lot of experience working at restaurants

[00:10:38] and then like my theater background like I'm used to typically working with more women than I do

[00:10:43] men just based on my background so I'm like oh shoot and so day two I was just kind of like

[00:10:50] all right Bruce here's what I heard it's me then brand of then you that's their order of operations

[00:10:57] and um he's like we're good we're good we're good and I was like okay okay and then

[00:11:04] I was like okay so what do we do moving forward he's like let me check something out we'll see

[00:11:08] what's up with Kelly and I'm like okay like in my mind like when the girls are talking just like

[00:11:12] based off what I saw from day one I was like Kelly has the most wind of potential out of the three

[00:11:18] women there just based off initial impressions on that first day yeah and so I was like yeah

[00:11:23] maybe we should try to like you know he's like don't worry about it like let's check this out

[00:11:28] and he's like comes back to me like maybe later that day the next day is like Jake we're in a

[00:11:32] alliance with Kelly now it's like okay all right all right no not a problem let's just talk

[00:11:39] about it next time and then you know I'm like I'm like I'm like in special I'm like shit like we

[00:11:43] need like operation get out Kelly so I'm like let me talk to Brando like Brandon Brando how do you

[00:11:48] feel about Kelly he's like I feel great about Kelly so I'm like all right so this ain't gonna happen

[00:11:52] but that that was like how to like I was worried that I was going home especially if that first

[00:11:56] vote and actually the whole time while I was there like they showed it on the show but like I

[00:12:01] felt like I was with Bruce Kelly and Brando and then in my mind like I thought it would have

[00:12:08] been Kendra early on because like Bruce thought she found an idol or something or found some kind

[00:12:14] of advantage but later me and Kendra got close but that was kind of my experience at an early

[00:12:19] bellow you know thinking people had idols when they obviously did not no one did that that bellow

[00:12:24] idols still hidden out there somewhere so say you guys had a lot you guys were fortunate to be a

[00:12:29] very winning strong tribe yeah lost a challenge like day four and you know we spoke to Kelly

[00:12:37] and she told us that like you mentioned you were one of the primary targets to go especially early

[00:12:42] on before Bruce was sort of rubbing people the wrong way if you guys lose a challenge what sort

[00:12:47] of your plan of attack to keep your name out of the voting parchment's yeah so like my plan was

[00:12:52] like I just need to be chill and not ruffle fetish and I think one of the things that hurt me on

[00:12:58] later down the line is that I kind of retracted like into myself a little bit it kind of made me feel

[00:13:03] like okay like I don't want to make any mistakes let me step back you know and kind of like just chill

[00:13:09] just do the things I need to do do whatever like needs to be done around camp just be like amenable

[00:13:13] to everything right when I think actually in the reality if you're in that kind of situation on

[00:13:18] survivor especially early so if you kind of want to put yourself even a little more out there right

[00:13:23] like I think I did a really good job personally like at the merge Tory vote exclusively

[00:13:28] that like I felt like I was good on that beach that day even though I was like up to be voted out

[00:13:33] just really put myself out there this who I am making really good deep connections with people

[00:13:37] versus I definitely in those early days try to be more reserved and I think that would have worked

[00:13:42] against me come if we went to a first travel council but the second one I think you would have

[00:13:48] just been let's rally like Bruce Kelly and Brando and see what we want to do because I don't feel

[00:13:52] like it was a hard hard line thing of like okay the four of us agree that like obviously Kelly and

[00:13:57] Brando wouldn't become with us in mind Bruce mine oh let's talk who we want now Kendra

[00:14:02] Cattora so within this first bello you know tribe when you're looking at these other tribes we know

[00:14:08] Lulu was like you know Lulu was Lulu and you got Reba when you're looking at these two tribes are

[00:14:14] you just like okay thank God that Lulu exists because we're just gonna keep picking them off or like

[00:14:19] I want to know what you were thinking about these other two tribes oh yeah so I mean like we're on

[00:14:24] the boat like we haven't even we haven't even started that like challenge on the budget and we're

[00:14:29] just like oh they're going down no problem Lulu's going down like in my mind like that's what I

[00:14:34] saw is like I like I think bellow by five has the most physically strongest women out of the tribes

[00:14:40] and I think that was like in my mind evident in that point like there was no way to like calculate

[00:14:44] how good we would be at puzzles and stuff I felt like I could do it and then based on what like

[00:14:48] Brando was saying in the planning for that opening challenge he obviously felt really

[00:14:52] shawing about doing puzzles down the line with Reba it was like you got Seafood and you got Austin

[00:14:58] and you got some geniuses over there Reba looked tough from the outset in my mind so like in our

[00:15:05] minds we're like we just want to come and first and like beat Reba I mean I was concerned about losing

[00:15:08] because I felt like I was on the chopping block but it was like okay Lulu's doing really fat

[00:15:13] that makes me feel materially better. We saw early on in the season Jake you have some medical

[00:15:19] issues or like you know you were passing out and then waking up uh did you ever get to the bottom

[00:15:24] of what that was and how did that change how you attacked the game moving forward knowing that you

[00:15:30] were having these episodes. So like especially like early added to like my anxiety about like

[00:15:36] going home because like oh sure I'm gonna be on the outside and then also I'm gonna be seeing

[00:15:41] as like a liability like that like kind of like just the compounding anxiety of that but honestly

[00:15:48] in my life I've never passed out before Survivor I have not passed out since the last time I passed

[00:15:53] out on Survivor and like it's just not it was like a new experience for me because like even as a kid

[00:15:58] like it's just randomly passed out sometimes like I'm never passed out so it really freaked me out

[00:16:03] but I think it was just like a combination of like they're not eating me blowing on the fire

[00:16:08] and then like at the new at the new Lulu one like I would we were getting up to do something and I just

[00:16:13] got up too fast but like in terms of like the game it's not like I was gonna hide it like everyone saw

[00:16:20] it you know so it's just kind of like shoot what do you do about it I try to downplay it oh yeah

[00:16:24] yeah I feel fine and I like honestly did feel fine but I was still like exes about it I don't think

[00:16:29] there's something you can like super do about it other than like just trying to outplay it especially

[00:16:34] in the pre-march. How many uh scares did you have out there and was there anything like notable

[00:16:40] that we didn't see yeah so you saw the two main times I passed out there was one time where I was

[00:16:46] like off camera that I passed out like I just got up too fast again and I just went down real quick

[00:16:50] like no one else on the tribe saw it like it was just you know a camera guy and it was just like

[00:16:55] up down and like I just bounced back up was there ever a point where you had to be talked to by

[00:17:00] the doctor and they like seriously consider taking you out. See I was concerned that they were

[00:17:04] seriously taking me out but like talk to Jordan and see to to say about it is just like you know

[00:17:08] keep drinking water get up slowly and I'm like I'm not getting pulled he's like I mean if it keeps

[00:17:12] happening maybe but like you're fine dude. Yeah okay thank god because like I was really stress

[00:17:18] in like those moments before I saw the doctor you know because it was just like I don't like it's

[00:17:22] not the way I wanted to go. I'd rather get voted out like or you know what ultimately ended up

[00:17:27] happening but like it was just so so nerve-wracking that I was gonna get pulled but they took care of me

[00:17:32] they took a look at me and they just like I just be careful so anytime I would get up and like

[00:17:36] pretty relatively deep in the marriage it just like get up just count to five before I start

[00:17:41] of walking somewhere you know what I mean and just had to take it a little slower when I got up.

[00:17:45] I wanted to circle back on our man Bruce a little bit we know obviously he's he's a bit of a

[00:17:50] polarizing figure in the season but I would say of all the people you got along with him for best

[00:17:56] and so I wanted to ask you like what about Bruce really caused you to click with him was it that

[00:18:02] like New England mentality or was it something deeper than that? Yeah this definitely like in a

[00:18:06] sense of that like you know some people definitely found Bruce assuming like jarring to them but like

[00:18:12] okay I thought he was funny and like I think like it was out of pocket or annoyed me like I'd

[00:18:17] just be like Bruce stop being old like stop acting like stop acting like stop like we would I

[00:18:22] would call him the old man all the time like old man river or whatever and like it just didn't

[00:18:28] it just didn't bother me like he remind me of a lot of people in my life where it's like all right like

[00:18:34] in your insvivors just like run him out you know what I mean like if you're bothering other people it

[00:18:38] doesn't really I didn't think it was gonna abode poorly for me I mean I think in some ways it

[00:18:44] definitely did but like Bruce is a great guy and like we'd get along in any capacity and

[00:18:50] I think early on I felt like especially good about him because like he was the first person to be like

[00:18:55] all right well let's let's do something about this your name being out there and let's make sure

[00:19:00] you're good so it was kind of um it was kind of like force just based off the numbers but like

[00:19:06] I think anyway slice it like Bruce would have been someone that I was close with out there.

[00:19:10] We saw a Bruce say a lot of times that Kelly was his number one but do you think off camera

[00:19:18] and in real bellow life you like it sounds like you probably were really his number one or do

[00:19:23] you feel like you and Kelly floated that position with him. No I think he was pretty like set on

[00:19:28] Kelly. I think I think in a way Kelly made my Bruce of his daughter just in some ways just like

[00:19:35] his first daughter's amazing athlete Kelly is as well and um they could connect on stuff like that.

[00:19:43] I don't come from like that kind of athletic background so in my mind I did think like me and

[00:19:51] Bruce were like tighter but in his mind he thought him and Kelly were tighter.

[00:19:56] Can you uh can you talk to us about the uh the Bruce Idol Hunt?

[00:20:01] Oh the Bruce Idol Hunt so like a couple of times at New Moon like Caleb and I went out like

[00:20:05] looking for idols and stuff and then like it was like the day of and he's like should we just

[00:20:10] search with everyone so we find the thing and it's like yeah yeah like let's all just go

[00:20:15] and then so we walk off like like Wacketour is out of confessional and Bruce like all right we're

[00:20:20] not telling Ketour is like all right fine like whatever and I don't know I was upset he found the

[00:20:25] idol literally right in front of me and I wish I found it so bad because like I probably would have

[00:20:29] only said something to Caleb unless someone saw me find it but it was just like oh jeez it was

[00:20:34] just so close to me honestly kind of helped me find my idol later in the game obviously it's not

[00:20:39] the same beach but it was a similar kind of tree and like I know where he found his so I'm like let me

[00:20:43] look in this similar kind of it was like those trees where's got like the roots kind of above

[00:20:46] the ground and it's just hidden in there so that actually ended up helping you later down the line

[00:20:50] but yeah and like Bruce like we're not telling Ketour it's like all right that's what you want to do

[00:20:54] and like she comes back and it's like let's figure it out and so Bruce finds the idol

[00:20:58] tells Kelly says Kelly let's see how long Jake and Caleb keep looking for it and that's when

[00:21:03] the ring thing comes out so it's like he already had the idol so it didn't even need to happen

[00:21:07] which is one of the most frustrating parts if you had just told me oh that was a bummer wow

[00:21:12] so this part of the game that kind of like that kind of showed Ketour something about you

[00:21:19] that almost didn't have to have it because he had the idol yes uh Bruce I don't

[00:21:23] but Bruce wanted to do this game like Kelly look it's you're my number one we're good

[00:21:26] Jake and Caleb are still going it was just like we just all found the idol together why not like

[00:21:31] just I mean whatever you know can you help settle a debate here Jake yeah on that first tribe swap right

[00:21:38] now I feel like in my mind they said to the production like hey we're going to mix up the tribes

[00:21:45] and put them on a tray and I feel like they gave it to somebody like Jack and then they're like Jack

[00:21:50] did you mix them up and Jack was like yeah and brought them out do you feel like they were mixed

[00:21:56] up because we see how it seemed like all Bella was on Lulu Reba stayed Reba do you feel like

[00:22:03] they were mixed up because I really felt like they were just all in the order and everyone just

[00:22:07] am I crazy you know I don't I don't really know like I wasn't even thinking about that like

[00:22:11] my only mind going into the swap like I we thought it was gonna be a swap that day because we had seen

[00:22:15] the swap in 44 and like we're like okay I think they're gonna go full-sand on a full swap not just

[00:22:20] kind of like whatever let's take one person pass them around and I just like I want to do the Tyson

[00:22:25] thing just take the last one so I said a bit Kelly picked before me but um didn't matter because

[00:22:30] the same thing but um yeah I don't know about mixing up I assume they did but I don't I don't know

[00:22:36] you know now your preference because you know I've never been on a tribe swap uh I have it

[00:22:42] you know made it past a first elimination uh but your preference do you prefer the tray or do

[00:22:51] you like to dig in the bucket that's actually a really good question see like I prefer the bucket

[00:22:56] here's why it's because if you get the tray it's like on I mean it didn't really matter for me

[00:23:01] because it was one left but like with the tray it's like oh if I pick slightly to the left I would

[00:23:05] have been here if it's the bag if it's the bag you don't know right there's no second guessing on

[00:23:09] that there's gonna be no pain involved in that but I feel like with the tray like I don't know if I

[00:23:13] picked something and got swapscrewed and then the buff right next to me I would have been safe with

[00:23:17] I'm gonna be upset about that right okay so you like stick your head yeah and and the mystery jar

[00:23:23] and figure with you you'll pull out yeah that would be my preference right like what do you feel about it

[00:23:29] you've done it before I've done it all yeah I don't man just give me one of the I don't care

[00:23:37] well I don't care what it is well did uh Jake did you see Jack season because it was something similar

[00:23:42] to that when they made the merch wait why didn't you didn't see it on Jack you were merged on the

[00:23:46] circle but it's just like to give you shit but we've been swaps for my time so

[00:23:56] but my last Bruce related question for you is once you hit the merge and the whole game is exposed

[00:24:04] to Bruce in his in his ways some people are loving it some people are not vibing with it

[00:24:10] did you feel like you had to take a step back from Bruce and like let him go do his thing or

[00:24:14] we've got to always ride him approved I was yeah I was just so bullshit because like literally

[00:24:19] on new Lulu the five of us said all five of us we were like all right we're gonna we're gonna hang

[00:24:24] back Caleb's gonna be able to get a little more movement with him because he's like you'd expect him

[00:24:29] to do that right like you just say hey Caleb was gone Caleb was gone Caleb was gone if we went

[00:24:34] through a tribal council and let Caleb do his thing let him be told stuff let him try to get pulled

[00:24:38] in by someone and it was and then we get there and like I said to Bruce specifically it's not my

[00:24:43] brought up as well I said Bruce do in something that I played with and he toyed with we never

[00:24:48] end up doing it but I'm like Bruce should we get in a fake fight with one another I'm happy we

[00:24:52] didn't do that but it was like realistically Bruce and I live an hour from each other I'm up in

[00:24:56] Boston he's in Warwick Road Island so it's like we do have that New England guy thing and we're

[00:25:01] gonna like we're gonna be grouped together regardless like show like let's do something about it

[00:25:06] and like the plan was we're not going to talk and like I even said Bruce like you and me especially

[00:25:11] we can't talk and he's like yep nope good good sounds good on the plan and then we get there

[00:25:17] and he's like they're running circles around us and I'm like well no one's been voted out yet you know

[00:25:25] I mean eventually they do run circles around us but as of this point no one has run circles around

[00:25:29] this yet and then it was like Caleb Caleb Caleb and it's like caves with us we're good we know what

[00:25:35] he's doing he's coming back and telling us things we're thinking okay who's on the outs and it's

[00:25:40] like oh you find out okay see who kind of looks on the outs and then like later we find out

[00:25:44] the next day Jay is definitely on the outs with Reba and so it's like okay we found cracks and then

[00:25:48] it's like at that merge feast Bruce just like Caleb and it's just like oh man like we had a plan

[00:25:56] like he's not in like in my mind like yeah Caleb is a big threat and I'm like to Bruce and like Bruce

[00:26:01] he's probably the one person here that stands out in front of you yeah and so it's like why

[00:26:07] he's like he's the little hanging fruit it's like great great that's good that's a good thing

[00:26:13] that is a shield for you and like oh dude it was just so frustrating because it's like he comes back

[00:27:01] trying to have a safe kid so it was try push it on Jay why was Bruce so dead set on I think Bruce

[00:27:06] was like really really really I think Bruce got really paranoid when people weren't talking to him

[00:27:11] yeah but you know at the time you know you think it's okay because you made a plan like that was

[00:27:16] the plan then we couldn't communicate with each other I mean here and there it's like yeah

[00:27:20] like we're good we're doing what we said we're gonna do all right good good good like you didn't

[00:27:23] mean Kelly you're like all right good good good yeah let's go cool and then it was just like I

[00:27:27] think Bruce got a little spooked and it was just like it's a plan we're gonna be fine we vote

[00:27:30] out Jay and then it's like an additional like I think there was a lot of opportunity there especially

[00:27:34] at that mergatory vote but didn't end up happen when you have a lot of people running around talking

[00:27:39] and when your plan is to not talk to each other but like all right we're good we're cool I think

[00:27:45] it is very easy to get paranoid in under this I mean it definitely isn't that's clearly what happened

[00:27:50] I do think that maybe we could have more one-on-one it's just like that mergatory it's just

[00:28:00] has the opposite effect that I think it's also really difficult to calculate like what people in

[00:28:05] your group are gonna do especially if you haven't been to a tribal and I think that puts us in a very

[00:28:10] not as an advantageous situation is because we never went to a tribal so we don't know how you don't

[00:35:26] into the city and we lost Alexis and you're like sitting at the lobby of our hotel and then here

[00:35:33] comes like this random motorcycle comes up it's literally like two o'clock in the morning we're like

[00:35:37] what is this and then Alexis just getting off that she's like thank you so that you know

[00:35:43] that was some scariest so uh the the trips can be fun as well I do want to know though uh Jake

[00:35:52] what after Bruce and Kelly you lost them what was your game plan right like how did you feel like okay

[00:36:00] I got a new lease on life and now I can kind of like do my Boston thing and work my way through or

[00:41:59] in terms of who is a bigger jury threat so I think Final Six is like one of the areas that

[00:42:05] was probably a misplay in that I should have like for more than just you know trying to

[00:42:11] uh do the rock threat thing again but in terms of Julie was should have been a big

[00:42:17] attack at then Drew at Final Six we saw you uh with this big move mentality like some of them

[00:42:25] didn't always work but think us as viewers what we loved about it was like we don't want you to

[00:42:30] play safe right like you're on survivor and in order to win you have to play like you're going to

[00:42:36] win and that might cause you to lose but you have to play like you're going to win and I love

[00:42:40] your mentality of like how you put together these big moves is like listen we're going to go to rocks

[00:42:46] or playing an idol I know that you said Chris Dardy right yeah were there any other survivor

[00:42:51] players that like kind of help influence your big move style of gameplay that you

[00:42:58] so it was like I know like I was kind of like always trying to do big moves like he's got the

[00:43:02] big moveitis and this definitely like a fair critique of that but like in regards to like you know

[00:43:07] big moves like I got to say like Tony right like big moves and the flashy stuff but I think in terms

[00:43:12] of like I kind of want because what were the big moves the the one with um where Caleb went home

[00:43:18] where um who ended going home Drew ended up going home and then like the uh Final Five vote

[00:43:23] where Julie ended up going home was like the three times where I tried to do something big so it's not

[00:43:28] that like I came in the game said I want to make needless big moves it's like the first one happened

[00:43:31] because I'm like if Caleb stays in the game that's going to be number one great for me because Caleb

[00:43:37] was just the person like I felt the most invested with like I felt like I could trust him with

[00:43:42] anything like Caleb and I had conversations at New Lulu when it's like oh we're gonna ride this out

[00:43:46] like you know we're gonna be like Dom and when like we literally talked about that and it was just

[00:43:51] like I would rather play this game with Caleb than not like I didn't care about like putting

[00:43:56] all my chips in for him because like he was just someone who I knew thought about the game

[00:44:01] in a similar strategic way is not saying other people didn't think about it strategically but we

[00:44:06] I think we had the same kind of instincts is one another in that kind of strategy portion of the

[00:44:12] game and then so I was all right moving all my chips in on him and then with the when it got down

[00:44:18] to the Final Six with the uh or you want to talk about Final Eight with Bruce it's like yeah I'm

[00:44:23] not gonna just sit here and sit on my hands and hope that he doesn't play at idle I'm not

[00:44:28] rocking with that and then with the Final Six it was like okay like my win equities at a zero

[00:44:36] like what's the how do you bring up your win equity like I think just going if I go along

[00:44:41] and go with Drew and Austin and we just do with this you know the plan that they're allowing me to

[00:44:46] join like how am I gonna get like any credit it's just gonna be like oh Jake you found your in

[00:44:52] and just went along with it like I don't think I think I should have found a way to work with Drew and

[00:44:57] Austin while also be able to show that I was a part of it like in that like the strategic planning

[00:45:07] but it was like your win equity is zero like I really feel like you need something to bring it up

[00:45:13] and like in regards to the game like I would rather have regrets over doing too much than being

[00:45:19] like oh I should have done I didn't do enough like I feel like a lot of people leave a lot out

[00:45:24] on the island and they come home and they feel that way it's I might have left too much on the

[00:45:28] island but I'm much more comfortable going to sleep that way than the other I felt like I needed

[00:45:34] to do them to win like I was like I don't care about like sitting in the Final Three like that

[00:45:39] doesn't matter to me as much like I I get that's eventually what happened and I got zero votes but

[00:45:44] it was just like I don't need to just get there like I don't want to just get there like that that's

[00:45:50] not interested in that I think what made you a fan favorite among like other things like

[00:45:55] your personality and you and in confessionals and everything I think it was the fact that you just

[00:46:00] kept on trying things no matter what happens to you or anyone on that island you're gonna keep

[00:46:05] on trying something whether it fails or succeeds you're not gonna quit out there no I got mad

[00:46:11] respect for that thank you thank you it's like I knew like after Final Five didn't go my way it was

[00:46:15] like it's gonna be a massively uphill battle like I didn't think I had a shot after Final Five

[00:46:19] but it was like I would have done anything or good like by one if I want immunity in Final Four

[00:46:22] I was telling everyone Katora you suck me like I don't actually think this but like I would

[00:46:26] just been bullshit about the vote the night before and then when I get tried to go against D right

[00:46:31] like I would have tried to like do something like that again it was like I would try something at

[00:46:35] every single stage especially if I'm not gonna I just like I'm playing I'm playing for the million

[00:46:40] you know and I think like right if you have zero win equity like you need to make it comparable to

[00:46:44] the people around you and just going along and doing whatever it's not gonna make you comparable

[00:46:49] I agree if we could talk about that Final Five Tribal Council and you play the idol for Katora did

[00:46:55] you talk to Katora prior to playing the idol for her or was that something that you knew you had

[00:46:59] to use it so you're like I'm just gonna ensure that she's safe does she know that you were gonna

[00:47:02] play it for her no she has no idea I didn't tell her I was I'm gonna tell her well do you think in

[00:47:08] hindsight uh the way that things shook out do you think you should have told her or do you feel like

[00:47:13] you couldn't trust her at that point not to go back I mean it was kind of like two things right

[00:47:19] like I didn't feel like I could trust her because like you know the night before it's like with

[00:47:23] the drew vote it was like okay it was Julia Katora spilled on the planet not that the Final Six

[00:47:27] Plan would have worked by Threaten and Rocks because Julian D were close and I didn't know about it

[00:47:32] but it was like okay someone spilled like I can't trust like my my read on either one of them

[00:47:37] Julian and say was Katora Katora and says Julie and it was just like I like I didn't have

[00:47:43] way out so it's like I needed to make the biggest splash possible and I thought Katora kind of

[00:47:47] had a big reaction like I do think like if Final Five goes my way that reaction helps me and

[00:47:53] says hey this was my plan exclusively like I told Austin he told I was very confident he was

[00:48:00] telling D I didn't know if Julie was gonna find out she did she still voted for Julie still voted

[00:48:04] for me but like in my mind it was like these are the things that I did Final Five was me but

[00:48:10] Final Five just ended up being me but biggest mess of anything ever and I like got out and I'm

[00:48:15] like no one should take credit for that no one made the right call that was terrible on all fronts

[00:48:21] this is embarrassing for everybody yeah and then when it came to less about the item but more

[00:48:29] about getting Katora to vote D with you I mean we I remember how frustrated I was in the sense of

[00:48:35] you know she asked you to swear on your your grandma this and that and then you do and then she

[00:48:40] doesn't fall through with the plan do you think there's anything else you could have done to get her

[00:48:44] on side or is that more of a reflection of sort of the mistrust she had and you throughout

[00:48:49] the whole game where I didn't you did she wasn't gonna vote your way that vote no I mean I think like

[00:48:56] well after because like I felt like Katora and I were good at like the Druvo and like we were pretty

[00:49:01] like good with that and then even at the Emily vote like we voted together like voting Julie obviously

[00:49:06] Julie played the idol but I felt like we were sharing like information and stuff to one another

[00:49:13] and then we said before like literally the night before the Final Five immunity challenge and

[00:49:22] tribal that okay like it's Julie tomorrow because there was always a fear of like oh Julie is

[00:49:28] gonna be really good fire like there's a rumor that Julie was just insanely good at fire I knew

[00:49:32] I could not beat D or Julie I didn't have if any one of them sitting in the Final Three I'm losing

[00:49:38] so it really didn't matter who was the bigger threat there it's like they both need to go in the

[00:49:41] next two rounds and so in my mind Julie should have went it earlier Julie should have went at five

[00:49:48] so she wouldn't be able to make five but then like you know Katora's like hey I think it needs

[00:49:52] to be D here's why in Katora made amazing arguments for it like she's absolutely the right call

[00:49:58] D was definitely supposed to go with five and Tor spent a lot of the day convincing me and it's just like

[00:50:04] literally and confessional being like she's right like Katora is correct and so you know

[00:50:12] like we didn't have too much longer before trial on my Katora I'm with you like work good and you

[00:50:16] kind of see the exchange between me and her so I think the only thing I would change is that like

[00:50:20] I don't know I think brand fogger being out there so long like it D was clearly the correct move

[00:50:24] and I just should have got on board earlier in the day I think like get on board earlier in the day

[00:50:28] it's not an issue we see throughout the season like the player as viewers the player that D is right

[00:50:35] we see anybody that says her name like it's like the godfather you're going home did you guys did

[00:50:41] did you see that in real time or was it kind of like a surprise to see you that like when somebody

[00:50:48] would come after her she would go home and like how she was really running and had herself insulated

[00:50:54] yeah so I didn't realize like how much insulated she was until like later on but like

[00:51:00] a new Lulu when we're talking about hey we're not gonna talk to one another like we were like okay

[00:51:52] was so in lockstep like it was just so good what they were able to do and how organized and unified

[00:51:57] they were able to be for so long who do you think your game is most like in the survivor realm I

[00:52:05] mean you gotta say like I got to be like an Owen right like I was literally thinking about Owen

[00:52:09] we were out there like we both broke the final four immunity challenge right like it didn't

[00:52:13] really matter for him because I think the challenge is over and he broke it but you know the game

[00:52:18] is 26 days like it's it's it's different I feel like there's a lot more people who just it's

[00:52:24] I think those first two votes at the merger very crucial I would say my game is very similar

[00:52:27] to Owen's in some ways different in other ways but it terms of like positioning and but still having

[00:52:33] like I'm a huge fan of the game like I have the knowledge of the game like I have the history I don't

[00:52:36] rattle off winners whatever but it was just in a position where it's just like what do you do

[00:52:43] right your season was able to watch uh season 43 before you left right we watched all of 43
