[00:01:25] and let us know if you believe you can answer the question. What is being feliminated? Or what is a felimination? Brooke and I have to get to the bottom of this before the start of season 37 of Amazing Race. Because if you watched our summer rewatch this summer of Amazing Race season 5,

[00:01:51] you know we had some disagreements about what actually is a felimination. So join Brooke and I as we get to the bottom of this so that we can start fresh this week on a new season of Amazing Race. Let's get into felimination. Pit stop. Pit stop. Pit pit pit stop. It's a pit stop. Pit pit pit stop. It's a pit stop.

[00:02:21] Pit pit pit stop. Pit stop. Pit stop. Pit stop. And we are... Welcome back. Yes. Welcome back to your Purple Pants Podcast. Pit stop coverage of Amazing Race season 37. In celebration and anticipation for this week's premiere of Amazing Race season 37. I'm super excited to be joined with my co-host, the winner of Amazing Race season 29, Ms. Brooke Camhai. How are you? Hello.

[00:02:50] I am doing well. How are you? I am amazing. And we are doing this special quick little pit stop coverage for you because if you tuned in to us this summer, we did a summer rewatch of Amazing Race season 5, an epic season. I'm so happy to be going back knowing my roots of Amazing Race.

[00:03:12] And during that season, there was a first that was a trend that went on for the rest of Amazing Race. And it was the felimination. Yes. Yes. If you were here with us this summer... Of course that Brooke refused to stop beating the dead horse. Because Brooke and I just... We kept fighting about it. Brooke has a definition. I have a definition.

[00:03:41] And we had guests on this summer. And the guests were split between us. And so we just figured we'd bring this back again. And let's just talk about this so that if anything happens this season, we are clear. Now, Brooke, explain to the people what you believe to be what a felimination is. When you can say it correctly, I feel like you can get credit for... Felimination. Felimination.

[00:04:10] Felimination. Just think... Felimination. Okay. Well, close enough. Yes. What a felimination is, is when Phil has to come out on the race course to tell you, you're done here. So that is my answer. And everyone who is smart and with it and knows the Amazing Race's answer to what a felimination is. Now, girl... I'm taking myself a whole... Yes, girl.

[00:04:38] Because that is my definition of a felimination. A felimination is when wherever you are, as long as you don't quit, because if you quit, it's not a felimination. If fel has to come to you, that's my definition, girl. Okay? So we're clear. So are you trying to agree with me? Are you trying to throw a loop at me? No! No! I'm saying whether you quit or you don't quit.

[00:05:05] If you don't get to the mat at the end and Phil comes to you, it's a felimination. I understand that you say if you quit, then you're not feliminated. You're just out. So I think we both agree that if you're not on the finish mat for the leg and Phil has to come to you, if you've already quit, you're saying not a felimination. I'm saying no matter what, if he has to come to you and says your race here is done, it is a felimination.

[00:05:31] Now, Brooke, I'm going to let you live because it seems like your definition has changed. No, it has not. It has certainly, most certainly not. But unfortunately, right, it turns out we're both wrong. Well, we decided to stop going back and forth. I decided to stop arguing with an amazing race winner. And we decided to go directly to the source. Please explain, Brooke.

[00:05:59] So I was very confident that one Phil Kogan, the smart, handsome, funny, forever host of the amazing race, would agree that a felimination is when Phil has to come to you on the race course, no matter if you quit or not, and says you're done. Don't keep racing. Everybody else has crossed the finish line. It's over. So I asked Phil. I reached out to Phil and I said, hi, Phil. Remember me? We have chatted, so it's fine. Like, he was good. He's very kind.

[00:06:28] He is always so wonderful. And I said, you know, on this podcast, we have a back and forth. It is me who is a racer and some guy who played some other show who thinks he knows better. Here's what I think. Here's what he thinks. Could you just please agree with me and or give me the correct definition of what you believe a felimination is? Because if it's named after Phil, Bryce and I both agreed that we will defer respectfully to Phil Kogan.

[00:06:58] Turns out we're both wrong. Well, well, I mean, you did. Okay. Phil did respond back to Brooke and said, ha, it was a fan thing that I believe was just a play on an elimination. Right. So essentially what Phil is saying is it's a play on words when he has to eliminate a team.

[00:07:27] When the team is not on the end mat. Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Disagree. This just says it's just a play on words for an elimination. No, no. Every time someone eliminated it, it's a elimination. No, no. Now the fans know that that is not the truth. A regular elimination is when you hit the mat and Phil eliminates you. That's just an elimination. A Phil-a-nation. I want to make sure I'm reading it in its entirety and you didn't take a quote out of context because I wouldn't put that past you.

[00:07:57] Right. Okay. Let's see. Okay. It was a fan thing that I believe was just a play on any elimination. He said. That's what it said. Big cap. Any elimination. I think I have an old pin and fridge magnet somewhere. Smiley face. And then we go on to discuss. But Phil just said it's a play on words on any elimination. So now we both think Phil's wrong. Okay. Phil is wrong. And mind you. That's probably how you worded the question. That's probably how you worded the question.

[00:08:25] Of course, he's saying every elimination is a Phil elimination. Phil does. Phil does. That's what he is saying. Phil does. Is when a team does not finish. And Phil. So you're arguing with. Now look, Phil doesn't agree with either one of us in all fairness.

[00:08:53] But I so badly want you to be wrong that I'm just going to side with Phil. And so what you're saying is the host of the show is wrong. And you, a survivor player, who has never stepped foot on the Amazing Race, knows better than myself. No, but because. Except for the Amazing Race winners and the host of the show himself. That's just the word here. Okay. So riddle me this. So why in season five did they coordinate Phil elimination?

[00:09:21] Why didn't they coordinate Phil elimination season four, season three, and season two? I mean, I think he's wrong. So I think that it's not just any elimination. Thank you. Okay. But if I have to choose between siding with Phil and having you lose and siding with anybody else, check out my name. No, because no, because Phil is just, he, Phil is just being the whole, hey, Brooke, how are you?

[00:09:49] I was very clear in how I asked it too. So there is no, you know, gray area here. I was very clear. Listen, Phil been doing this a long time. I, if this is what Phil says, I changed my answer to side with Phil. So every, so, okay, Brooke, every elimination is a Phil elimination is what you're saying. If it means that you concede that you're wrong, then sure. Yeah.

[00:10:17] It, I, this is all leaning towards, I am right. A Phil elimination is when a team is still actively competing. Okay. Keyword actively competing. All of the other racers have completed. And now Phil has to come to them and say, Brooke and Bryce, your time is up here on the race. You've been eliminated.

[00:10:47] But here's what I'm saying. You are actively competing until you are told to go home. Because, hear me out, if a leg is a non-elimination leg, then, and you are on the race. Even if you decide, I don't want to do this anymore. Until you're told to go home, you could be 26 hours behind. You're still competing. I agree. I agree with that.

[00:11:09] However, if a team gives up and quits and it's a non-elimination round, they should go home because they quits. They'll be eliminated when he comes out to the course to tell them, go home. But, no, because they quit. So, when you quit, you forego a Phil elimination. Do you know how many times people on the Amazing Race have, now, this is one thing I never said. I cried. I said I can't. I was weak as a noodle. But I never said the words, I quit.

[00:11:36] But do you know how many people say, I quit, when they're not actually quitting? So, what a fuck. So, there's a difference of saying you quit and then you actually quitting. You know that, Brooke. Like, when a team actually gives up and quits. Brooke. Yeah. I'm with you. I am with you. I just think that until someone tells you you're going home, until the fat lady's saying, you're still in the race. No. I think that that's how you should play.

[00:12:05] Did this go the way that you expected it to go? I mean, I'm right. I mean, Phil's wrong because Phil is just being cute and just saying every elimination is a Phil. No, Phil, it's not. I love you, Phil. Every elimination, you are not. Go into a team. Okay. Okay. So, okay. Well, I mean, this didn't go anywhere where I thought it was going to go. Thank you, Phil.

[00:12:29] But listen, it is safe to say that Brooke and I are really excited for this week of Amazing Braves. Could you just do my name back up for one more second? I can. Because I'm not wrong. You're wrong. But you can tune in every week. Brooke and I will be covering this whole season in its entirety. And if you haven't checked out a Purple Pants pit stop coverage, welcome. Okay. You are not feliminated here.

[00:13:00] Because we're here. We're not going to come to you. Well, we might come to you. You never know. But we're just super excited. And we thank Phil for you. Then please have a Paloma and a nice glass of wine waiting for us. Thanks so much. Yes. Well, this has been your Purple Pants podcast. Kind of getting to the bottom of felimination, even though Phil got it wrong. But listen, regardless, I'm excited. I'm excited to see Phil meet all of these amazing racers.

[00:13:27] And if you haven't already, you can go back and check Brooke and I's first look at the cast season 37. We're giving our hot takes on the teams that we love and how we think we will do. Brooke, I can't wait to talk about episode one with you later in the week. Sounds good. Thanks for chatting. I'm right. You're wrong. I'm right. Brooke's wrong. Bye. Bye. It's the Purple Pants. It's the Purple Pants. It's the Purple Pants podcast.

[00:13:56] You better get your headphones and listen up quick. It's the Purple Pants podcast. You better listen in public. Might make your stomach hurt. It's the Purple Pants podcast. You're trying to unwind. You better get that box wine. It's the Purple Pants podcast. You're trying to get your snack. You better hurry right back though. It's the Purple Pants.
