[00:04:17] Hello, hello and welcome to your purple pants podcast pit stop coverage of amazing race season 36 episode two. I am joined by the wealth of knowledge. Miss Brooke cam high winner of amazing race season 29.

[00:04:34] Brookie Poo how you feeling today? Good morning. I'm feeling good. I mean this was all right but I'm feeling good.

[00:04:44] Yeah, I feel a good too. Did I cry this episode? Yes, how many times three?

[00:04:53] Am I not happy with the outcome? Yes.

[00:04:56] Maybe. Do I have a team that I need to cut out? Probably. Yes.

[00:05:02] But am I mad that I have to custom out or initially? I don't know.

[00:05:07] Initially, initially I was mad but in the end I was like, all right, baby, I'm not that mad.

[00:05:16] But yeah, you sat with it for 45 minutes and you were like,

[00:05:21] I think I think I just get triggered from last season. You know we have you know last season kind of triggered me.

[00:05:27] So when I see a happen, I get a little like what's going on here but

[00:05:34] I'm excited to hear what you're talking about because I don't know that I'm going to agree with you,

[00:05:38] which is cool. I like when we come so close with each other. We don't always have to agree but

[00:05:44] ultimately the indecision is I'm not mad. Okay, but I do have to custom out. I do have to custom out a little

[00:05:51] okay, just a little bit. I'm excited. Okay, well listen. I like to not be the only one who gets

[00:05:58] angry. So this is cool for me. Yeah, well it's always anger with love. It's never anger.

[00:06:05] But just you know, always a little anger with love. Okay, all right, let's talk about it.

[00:06:11] All right, so we have 12 teams left. This is the second half of the first mega leg which we're

[00:06:16] calling like from the knees to the toes because last week was just the thigh and honestly,

[00:06:22] no, I'm going to get the negative out of the way. I feel like this leg was too flipping easy.

[00:06:29] Somebody online compared the detour to like a party city detour and that cracks me up. I mean

[00:06:37] okay, we'll get there. I have some grids. I had some happy moments. I had some heartbreaking moments.

[00:06:44] I'm pretty sure Scott and I got quoted by a super fan which I'm not mad at and then I have

[00:06:49] some new favorites and honestly, like renewed faith in the favorites that I already had. So

[00:06:55] this is gonna be a fun one. It's a fun one. It's I don't think it's a hard one but it's a fun one.

[00:06:59] So here I'm going to disagree with you right? Like I think the from the knee down

[00:07:05] this leg of the super race. I thought it was kind of so it wasn't like challenging but I thought

[00:07:11] it was grueling and it didn't look grueling as a viewer but seeing everyone cross the end,

[00:07:20] it was like these MFers are drained. Yeah okay, it's hot. It was hot. Sure. I mean

[00:07:29] yeah, it gets hot. I mean yes, okay. Yes, the temperature made it harder. If it were like a

[00:07:36] balmy 65 and breezy, it would have been a very easy leg but side note Morgan is texting me

[00:07:43] from last season. Hi Morgan. Shout out to Morgan. Yes, the temperature made it a much better leg

[00:07:50] because people would drop it. They really were. Well, Hoda, if you want to send you one

[00:07:54] to name job, guess who's actually last night and I have to actually text them back?

[00:08:00] Beyonce. John Franklin, the winner of last season. He texted me last night and I

[00:08:06] like I went to sleep so I'm a you know, if Brooke is text drop and let me text drop John Franklin.

[00:08:12] I wasn't trying to be like. Just what all? Just in case you heard it. All right, so

[00:08:19] hi John also. Hi Greg, I spoke to him this week too. He's out of town. Okay anyway,

[00:08:24] rude information. They have to go to the zone of Romantica and find the clue at the center of

[00:08:30] the iguana bridge. This leg was all about navigation on foot, which I loved. They are still

[00:08:36] in Portavillara but okay, I can't do anything about that so whatever. So Roda Vatisha leave first.

[00:08:45] They always want to be first. She talks about how she's not going to be able to keep up with him

[00:08:49] but she gets up with him just fine. I don't know why she's underestimating herself. Don't underestimate

[00:08:53] yourself. Anyway, they leave at 1205 and then five minutes later you have Ricky and Cesar

[00:08:58] who know that they can get first and this may be the race that teaches them that they should also

[00:09:03] be life partners forever and get engaged. And so I don't know maybe we'll have an engagement on the

[00:09:08] on the final mat in Philadelphia. We'll see what happens. You should have followed them.

[00:09:14] I don't know how you didn't honestly. I know you have a job into life and whatever, but if

[00:09:20] you amazing race you see them finishing in your city follow them. Come on. I got

[00:09:26] a little bit scared. I called you. I was like, I don't know what they're doing. I think they hear

[00:09:33] as they follow them and you're like, I'm busy. I'm like, I gotta go but I called you.

[00:09:40] You did and I appreciated that. Okay, so I'm just going to do a like Derek and Shalea

[00:09:45] Cerz third like 12 minutes later. They are talking about how they can be team's parents, how

[00:09:50] they're old but screw that. They're smart and they're in ridiculous shape. They are the only ones

[00:09:55] who grab a free mat from a local person and good on them for being.

[00:10:00] I feel like Shalea is me. I feel like Shalea is the collector of things, right? Like I feel like

[00:10:07] we're going to go to Shalea. Definitely because when they handed her that mat it was like she

[00:10:14] didn't even know what it was. She was like, I can take and I was just like girl, we just had to drop

[00:10:21] three crossword puzzles and here you go. But I was like, but again, you also the police

[00:10:28] that her came out is free. I don't need to pay nothing. You sure?

[00:10:34] You're like they love them. I love them. They are the bickery, wonderful, hilarious. She is me.

[00:10:43] Team love them. They look amazing. They look they're smart. They're fit. I they're older which I

[00:10:50] love. I love them. Are they in their 50s or 60s? I was arguing with someone last week. I

[00:10:56] was like, no, I think they're in their 50s. They're like no, they're in their 60s. Regardless,

[00:10:59] they look great. And they're really kicking ass like they are doing so well. So none of this

[00:11:07] like old people shouldn't be allowed in the race. Mischa Goss. Yeah, no. I also got to cast Derek

[00:11:12] out a little bit too. So Derek on my list too. All right, now are you want to save it?

[00:11:20] I won't save it for fair enough. Okay, so one in Shader and Fourth they leave it 107. Michelle

[00:11:25] and Sean the double duchers are happy to be in fifth. They feel like they can do this. They

[00:11:30] realize they really really like each other. I honestly would think that they would annoy me.

[00:11:35] But they don't. I just think they're just such pure joy. They remind me of Floyd from my season.

[00:11:40] Floyd was sunshine and a human. And I feel like they are sunshine in human form. So I very

[00:11:45] much like them. You've bought them. Michelle, leave a minute later. They're very cute. They talk

[00:11:51] about how she is. I'm going to get them. I don't know. Queen badass of the Navy. I'm not going to

[00:11:57] get the title right? But the episode title was named after her where she talked about trust

[00:12:03] but verify. And then I feel like most people in relations just have this like if you're very

[00:12:08] type A and somebody says something you trust them. But you also need to make sure for yourself that

[00:12:11] it's like actually I suffer from this. I get that exactly. I suffer from that too. I don't think

[00:12:18] it's a big deal. But she is trying to drop the N verify. Angie and Danny talk about how he is so

[00:12:25] a ridiculous super fan that he used to host amazing race events for like local people. I would like

[00:12:30] to submit that Danny should host an amazing race, a many amazing race for former amazing racers

[00:12:37] and amazing race podcasters like for charity. And we'll get to go run around and do that. I think

[00:12:44] that would be super, super fun. So you know, get on it. Anthony and Bay. Okay. I like them. A lot

[00:12:52] their car still hasn't started. They they're talking about how they're on the same page.

[00:12:58] I just don't think it's it's like a good page yet. But but I also feel like they are the type of

[00:13:04] people in life like they each experience. They just kind of like go into it and figure it out,

[00:13:12] right? And so within three minutes, they have left their clue with the first person they asked

[00:13:17] for directions like okay. And then they left it. They stay there for like two seconds

[00:13:24] and was like thank you. We won't forget. Yeah. But I thought I was not going to like them.

[00:13:32] necessarily. But I like I love their energy, right? Like I really do feel like they are like

[00:13:38] surfer a little spacey. But I love it. And I feel like once they you know once they get in the car

[00:13:45] once they put their seatbelt on once they check their rearview mirrors once they see that

[00:13:51] the gas tank is on empty and they need to get gas. And the first thing they do, right?

[00:13:55] After they start the car. And after they look both ways and pull out into the intersection of

[00:14:02] the highway, I think they're going to be great. They somehow managed to do just fine. They're like

[00:14:08] they like fail upward. And I mean that very kindly. It's like they can they do so many things

[00:14:13] wrong. And yet somehow they're just bopping along doing totally okay. I wouldn't want to race

[00:14:20] with them, but I very much enjoy watching them race. And I hope they stay for a long time

[00:14:25] because they are actually very joyful to watch. And I think they're in on the joke. They're like

[00:14:29] okay sorry. Like whoops, like they're funny. They're not mad about it. Okay. Uh Sunny and busy

[00:14:37] leave like two minutes after that. And I actually have a newfound respect and love for them

[00:14:42] this episode. So we'll talk about that because they are not quitters. Uh Kishori and Karisma leave

[00:14:49] like a minute after that. Honestly, they are like the queens of the one liners, especially

[00:14:55] Karisma. She is just so funny. Like she's one of those you have to pay like a little bit of attention

[00:15:00] and once you're paying attention, she's hilarious. And then you have Mary and Chris at the back.

[00:15:06] They talk about how they really need to start like booking it and put a little pep in their

[00:15:10] step. And then they proceed to just walk everywhere. And then you have Vinnie and Amber who are last,

[00:15:14] but at least they're running. So I give them credits for that. Um okay. So the first thing

[00:15:23] they have to do is find this a Guwana bridge, which everyone except like three teams seems to

[00:15:28] have a real problem with nobody knows what it's like we said last week like there are a handful of

[00:15:32] teams that can navigate and everybody else is getting lost like wherever they're standing.

[00:15:38] So they a couple of the teams you basically you have Roda Latisha and Ricky and say sorry who finished

[00:15:44] this leg before anybody else starts like it is absurd 30 minutes into the episode. The two teams

[00:15:49] have finished which leaves me to believe this whole like could have taken two hours if you

[00:15:54] didn't mess it up royally. And then I really do think they finished before the last team started

[00:15:59] like it is it was nuts because they didn't get lost because they know what they're doing.

[00:16:03] Yeah and it's like I feel like they had the whole town to themselves to ask different stuff but

[00:16:09] I have to say like I really love this competition between Rod and Latisha and Ricky and Saison

[00:16:16] because like it was I dare I say like turning me on right. Like because it's like I just

[00:16:25] Ricky and Saison are like they have my heart because like I love the fact that first of all

[00:16:31] two things I realized this episode Rob and Latisha and Ricky and Saison they're the same couple

[00:16:38] right like Rob is Saison because baby Saison was not playing like when he gets locked in

[00:16:49] he gets locked in and I love that for him and Ricky and I was like getting a little frustrated with

[00:16:56] them because I'm like you it like if you were second it don't matter like it's not a huge like

[00:17:03] race but also I had to remember this is the first pit stop like you know because it's a

[00:17:09] mega leg so it is the first pit stop so it's like okay I get it but I just love to see the competition

[00:17:16] and I love to see how they were right or Rod and Latisha's behind like they were not playing

[00:17:23] any game but yeah I just love how competitive Ricky and Saison are and I also feel like don't

[00:17:28] judge a book by his cover because you might look at them and be like oh I don't know how they're

[00:17:31] going to do on race Saison said not today not this season and not tomorrow okay and I like how they

[00:17:39] they sort of respect each other and just Rod is all you guys pushed us all day he could be so

[00:17:46] cocky because he's so big and so strong and so dominating but I love him I love both of them he's

[00:17:54] so respectful and not full of himself I don't know maybe he is he's not coming across that way

[00:17:59] on the race at all he is like just humble and kind and supportive yes to the and you guys did a

[00:18:06] great job you guys pushed us all day like not Brad and Doge like I just I'm a fan I am a fan I didn't

[00:18:12] know if I would be but I am and so so lastly well obviously we know Rod and Latisha coming first

[00:18:19] place but if I'm Ricky and Saison and you know how I feel for watching the show with you for many

[00:18:25] seasons I don't want to be the first team to hit them at first because the odds are you are

[00:18:33] going too far back in the past two if you are coming out that strong you put an eyes on yourself

[00:18:40] and if you stay this strong if we get a U turn no no Maya and Rohan but if we get a U turn

[00:18:49] one of the show actually plans you know actually plans you're going to be a target so it was like

[00:18:56] I was I think two number two might have made themselves a little bit of a target also at one

[00:19:01] point and I'm thinking that's probably who you want to cut out well well girl we could get there now

[00:19:06] too okay now as much love as I'm giving Ricky and Saison and am I saying his name right I think

[00:19:12] it's say sorry yeah okay sorry if sorry if I'm getting a reward you apologize to everybody I'm excited

[00:19:17] now with my with my people Derek is shallicit came around they was like you know where to y'all

[00:19:28] know where we could find where it's at okay first of all Saison didn't even give Ricky a chance

[00:19:35] to even okay say Zarset now you know that pissed me off that get because I am like

[00:19:51] it's early in this it's early in the episode it's her injury in the front and you have and

[00:19:57] they're and they literally like there's no chance you didn't hear that she's like hello no uh hi

[00:20:02] it's me I'm here um nothing you're not gonna you're not gonna help us and then like

[00:20:08] and they're all right next time like no yeah I didn't love that because here's the thing one

[00:20:16] shallicit does not look like she is one to forget exactly oh oh but so now I was like you know

[00:20:23] what I'm gonna have to cause Ricky and Saison out cuz I don't like that however I will give them

[00:20:29] grace because they in they like and their mind they were going home and they had to beat

[00:20:36] Roddish and listen like that's first or nothing right so I'm not mad because I do love the competitive

[00:20:43] nature but I also and like Ricky and Saison just bring it down a little bit just a little bit

[00:20:49] it's over there you don't have to give them exact without like just give them a general idea that

[00:20:53] then they're not pissed and you look good and you're still ahead and I don't know I understand

[00:21:01] but they were just like next time and yeah I hope that don't need help later listen because

[00:22:58] detour party city one side is balloon collection where you have to get three sets of purple red and

[00:23:04] yellow balloons this detour is entirely too easy I feel like if you pop a certain number of balloons

[00:23:10] you should have had to go back and get more there was something that made this just too simple

[00:23:14] but whatever and the other side is called color correction or as I like to call it the detour

[00:23:20] that only one team actually understood and you have to find these paper flags that are not in the same

[00:23:25] order as the example you have in your hands but like I think the warning was a little confusing because

[00:23:30] teams were like am I looking for the pattern am I looking for the colors but shout out to sonny and

[00:23:35] busy for like legitimately sticking with it and being the only team that didn't switch even though

[00:23:40] I was yelling at my screen for them to switch immediately but good on them for not doing it they were

[00:23:44] right though because if every team decides to do that side of the detour there were probably a dozen

[00:23:48] strands that were the answer and since they were the only one that did it they weren't hunting for

[00:23:53] a needle in a stack they were running for very many needles in said cases. I also feel like this

[00:23:58] was that well clearly the balloons are the challenge or the detour to do but I feel like

[00:24:05] how the amazing race sets you up because you kept hearing people say that the balloons are all

[00:24:11] the way on the other side and this one was like right right right right there and so like I feel like

[00:24:18] that was kind of like the 52 fake out where it's like something's real easy here

[00:24:25] and the balloons are hard but I also do feel like the color challenge is one of those

[00:24:31] challenge where I just knew one team was going to get there and just pull one right like you know

[00:24:38] I mean like I felt like it like again and you don't hate that but I also felt like

[00:24:43] it could have been as easy as one team get there and because when they read the thing I was confused

[00:24:48] because I'm like I thought they had to put the banner back up I had like yeah

[00:24:54] I mean signing busy understood the assignment it's just they were having a and she's so

[00:24:58] funny she's like look at the pink look at the pink and figure out

[00:25:03] what I think look at them okay it's right is the next to pink it's wrong it blue isn't next to yellow

[00:25:11] it's wrong there she got confused and this you like no wait but no if blue was next to like yeah

[00:25:16] but for shadowing a little bit I wasn't mad at Kishori a charisma because Kishori just pulled

[00:25:24] them down it was and I thought that that way was so smart though it was smart except I don't

[00:25:30] think they realized that all of the it looked like all of the patterns were the same and what that

[00:25:34] wasn't the thing it was the color order but she's like you don't need a ladder you're like

[00:25:40] chef get over there she's just so she's very funny she's got good little one liner okay

[00:25:46] she's like yo bro what are you doing bro couple like I like oh my god I love charisma

[00:25:50] she's very funny okay so right now Tisha decided they're gonna pick their D tour based on rock paper

[00:25:55] scissor which is hilarious and they got very lucky that that's the one that it landed on um and

[00:26:01] they do the balloons they do it very quickly they're going back and forth of Ricky and Cesar um

[00:26:07] who messed it up initially and get one set of each color instead of each but and they're very

[00:26:12] lucky they ran into rotten lethian because otherwise they would have had to redo the entire thing so

[00:26:17] sometimes you just get lucky when you're like the only two on the course um Derek and Shalisa have

[00:26:22] trouble finding the bridge and this is where Ricky and Cesar will not help them and I think this

[00:26:27] may come back to bike from in the booty at some point later um but when when Rod and Latisha finished

[00:26:33] the D tour I love them like he's very kind and very humble and she's like keeping it real I love

[00:26:39] that they're not what I thought that they were going to be so again I hope it continues for them

[00:26:44] like this because sometimes I don't like it when like very alpha male and like the wife who's

[00:26:49] like I'm not feeling to keep up they you know off bar and sherry bike but that's not what happens

[00:26:55] here right I will say though I feel like there are times that Shalisa kind of tends to want to like

[00:27:02] maybe this way and I feel like Derek be swaying her uh a different way and I'm like

[00:27:09] we need to listen to our queen Shalisa okay uh although we are a fan of Derek

[00:27:15] and it's so far I mean he has been but I'm just saying but also it's like

[00:27:21] if Derek wanted to be in the Zadi calendar I mean I think Derek there's a spot for Derek in

[00:27:26] the Zadi he's the grand Zadi okay listen he's he's the Zadi okay but anyway all right I will say

[00:27:33] she said you know he said to her like do you want to run a little and she's like you're okay

[00:27:37] like he's not like kicking up and rot like he's not and she's like yeah okay and then she's like

[00:27:42] but why are you running me uphill what like I just I love her I feel like I feel like I

[00:27:46] feel like I connect with her I just got my eye on Derek I'm just keeping my eye on Derek because

[00:27:52] you know I got to Augusta that's fair so two teams are now done with the D-tor half the teams have

[00:27:57] been started and they have to make their way to this park for the next clue um Derek and Shalisa

[00:28:03] meanwhile are doing the balloons because they do the physical task because they can they're straightforward

[00:28:07] they're currently sitting in third place and then one in shame start the leg um and they do the

[00:28:12] balloons because they too have decided they're gonna do anything and everything physical because they can

[00:28:17] Michelle and Sean you want to miss it is it too much shells it is Yvonne I have Yvonne in Michelle

[00:28:24] yes and then Melissa Melissa sorry it is Melissa my bad and the double dutchers start and

[00:28:30] there's so both couples are very cute um so two teams are at the roadblock only half the teams have

[00:28:35] started and that should tell you how easy this entire leg was and at the roadblock it said who's

[00:28:40] got a skeleton in the closet and they have to paint their partner's face to look like a skeleton

[00:28:46] leticia is so happy it's not physical she's doing great she's doing a makeup tutorial and Ricky

[00:28:53] who does drag and musical theater and now I want to take him to karaoke because as you know

[00:28:59] I too was a musical theater major in college and my sliding door moment was the only Broadway show I

[00:29:03] ever auditioned for I got called back and didn't go to go take my LSATs and become a lawyer

[00:29:09] and I wish I'd change that because then maybe I could be having a very different life right now

[00:29:13] long story short Ricky we gotta go karaoke he might be part of the karaoke crew

[00:29:19] yes I love during this challenge where Ricky was doing Ricky was doing his thing he was being

[00:29:25] in detail or it's it is say so like how are we it off he's like you're doing great keep going

[00:29:31] and then Rod and let's teach to get it and he's like but go faster like

[00:29:37] you know I mean they're very cute and supportive of each other and they don't get snippy but like

[00:29:41] he gets funny say sir gets very funny where he's like you're doing good you're doing good do it

[00:29:46] more do it faster do it more than you name well let's go I like them a lot okay so meanwhile

[00:29:54] while that's happening one and Shane are finishing the balloons and the 10th team Kishore and

[00:29:59] Kishore is just starting the day like this is less than 90 minutes since the first team started

[00:30:04] and the first team has finished the roadblock and is making their way to the pit stop at this point

[00:30:11] so then teams 11 and 12 start um you want them Melissa right find the iguana bridge sunny and busy

[00:30:19] find the iguana bridge the double duchers can't find bopkiss like they are they're just very very

[00:43:36] each on the mat and this other market bopper team showed up like right thereafter and they gifted them

[00:43:43] the five thousand dollars each because they thought that if I had this right that market bopper

[00:43:48] were gonna go home and then it was a non elimination leg and then they gifted the money for no reason

[00:52:14] i didn't have a problem with kissing the ground of the first one you made it through leg one that is

[00:52:17] the hardest leg because you don't know what to expect this is a fully new experience and every one

[00:52:23] of them told you it is harder than it looks on tv so i appreciate that they are let i mean

[00:52:31] sunny and easier like this is way harder than fighting fires i mean i can't imagine that's true but

[00:52:35] like very nice of them to say i uh a wahn and vinyo is wahn and shane they remind me of dusty and

[01:02:07] no and she's like she's like bludin she's so excited they can't go home either

[01:02:19] they live their dream the mom was a fan of the race they did this you know to honor her memory

[01:02:25] and to be close together and i just i'm so sad to see them go there is no negative about me saying
