[00:05:26] And I've met
[00:05:27] A lot of amazing people
[00:05:29] In the Survivor community
[00:05:30] And there are some people
[00:05:31] That you connect with
[00:05:32] You say hi
[00:05:33] Bye to
[00:05:34] And there are some

[00:05:43] They happen to be
[00:05:44] Talented
[00:05:44] And they happen to be
[00:05:46] Doing a
[00:05:48] Outfit of the day
[00:05:50] Are you doing
[00:05:51] An outfit of the day
[00:05:52] On TikTok
[00:05:52] Of your Christmas outfits
[00:05:53] I don't think
[00:05:54] I'm hoping you're
[00:05:55] Talking about me
[00:05:56] Because
[00:05:56] If not
[00:05:57] It's going to be
[00:05:58] Really awkward
[00:05:58] When I say hi
[00:05:59] Listen
[00:06:00] I'm so excited
[00:06:01] To have the queen
[00:06:03] Lauren O'Connell
[00:06:04] From Survivor
[00:06:05] Edge of Extinction
[00:06:05] Her first time
[00:06:07] On the podcast
[00:06:07] What's going on
[00:06:08] Lauren?
[00:06:09] I'm so excited
[00:06:10] To be here
[00:06:10] This is so fun
[00:06:11] I feel like
[00:06:12] We've tried a couple times
[00:06:13] And this is like
[00:06:14] The best episode
[00:06:15] To be a guest on
[00:06:16] So I feel really special
[00:06:17] Especially after that intro
[00:06:18] Whew
[00:06:19] It's been a season
[00:06:21] It like
[00:06:22] So we're honored
[00:06:23] To have you
[00:06:23] Wendell and I
[00:06:24] Just got back
[00:06:25] From the season finale
[00:06:28] Of the BWP Tour
[00:06:30] 47
[00:06:30] How was it?
[00:06:31] Whew
[00:06:31] Y'all were in New York
[00:06:33] Again right?
[00:06:33] We were in
[00:06:34] We were in
[00:06:35] Manhattan
[00:06:36] For Tuesday night
[00:06:38] For our welcome party
[00:06:38] And we ended
[00:06:39] In Brooklyn
[00:06:40] For the season finale
[00:06:42] Whew
[00:06:42] Wendell
[00:06:43] How would you say
[00:06:44] The season finale was?
[00:06:46] It was
[00:06:46] It was a great finale
[00:06:48] It was a great event
[00:06:49] And it was a great event
[00:06:50] With a great
[00:06:52] Actual episode
[00:06:53] And winner
[00:06:54] And everything
[00:06:55] So
[00:06:57] I'm happy to be
[00:06:58] With the two
[00:06:59] That's so fun
[00:07:01] Yeah we had the squad
[00:07:02] In there
[00:07:04] It was
[00:07:05] Literally
[00:07:05] A sea of humanity
[00:07:07] Of the amount
[00:07:08] Of people
[00:07:09] Lauren and Jack
[00:07:10] That came out
[00:07:11] I feel like there always is
[00:07:12] I've never been to
[00:07:13] One of your parties
[00:07:14] Where I wasn't like
[00:07:15] Trying to elbow
[00:07:17] My way through
[00:07:17] To say hi to you guys
[00:07:19] Well
[00:07:20] I wasn't
[00:07:21] Elbowing my way
[00:07:22] I was squeezing by
[00:07:25] But there were just
[00:07:26] So many amazing people
[00:07:27] And I do want to
[00:07:28] Just take some time
[00:07:28] To shout out
[00:07:29] I met one of the
[00:07:31] Posse members
[00:07:31] Her name was Caitlin
[00:07:33] And she has been
[00:07:34] Listening to Survivor News
[00:07:35] Her and her husband
[00:07:36] They
[00:07:37] Love us
[00:07:38] They get into the
[00:07:39] Arguments
[00:07:40] And how I knew
[00:07:41] That they were
[00:07:42] A posse member
[00:07:42] Jack was
[00:07:43] After we were
[00:07:44] Saying goodbye
[00:07:44] Her husband was like
[00:07:46] I'm a member
[00:07:47] Of the Jack Shack
[00:07:48] But
[00:07:49] Listen I'm not done
[00:07:51] Jack
[00:07:51] He said
[00:07:51] Don't say nothing
[00:07:52] To Jack
[00:07:53] Because I don't
[00:07:53] Want his head
[00:07:54] To get any bigger
[00:07:55] That's sad
[00:07:59] Well there's plenty
[00:08:00] Of room in the
[00:08:01] In the shack
[00:08:02] So
[00:08:02] Shout out to Caitlin
[00:08:04] But I mean
[00:08:04] You know
[00:08:05] Just calling him
[00:08:06] Caitlin's husband
[00:08:07] We gotta put some
[00:08:08] More respect
[00:08:08] On his name
[00:08:09] So
[00:08:09] Yeah we do
[00:08:10] But there was just
[00:08:11] So much magic
[00:08:13] In the air
[00:08:13] We had so many
[00:08:15] Survivors
[00:08:15] So many
[00:08:16] Big brothers
[00:08:17] So many Love Island
[00:08:18] So many Squid Games
[00:08:20] So many Circle
[00:08:21] So many
[00:08:22] Amazing human beings
[00:08:24] In the building
[00:08:26] It was a great event
[00:08:27] We had like
[00:08:27] 450 people
[00:08:30] At Berry Park
[00:08:32] Brooklyn
[00:08:32] It was just
[00:08:33] It was
[00:08:34] It was a
[00:08:36] It must have been
[00:08:36] A huge venue
[00:08:38] Yeah two floors
[00:08:39] So we had
[00:08:40] A big roof
[00:08:41] And a big
[00:08:42] First floor
[00:08:42] And we had
[00:08:44] Joey
[00:08:45] Joey Hatch and DJ
[00:08:46] Caution
[00:08:46] On the ones
[00:08:47] And twos
[00:08:48] So it was
[00:08:51] Bryce what was that
[00:08:52] Photo you just put up
[00:08:53] Wait
[00:08:54] Is that the best
[00:08:55] You got
[00:08:56] From the
[00:08:56] So listen
[00:08:57] It was a lot
[00:08:58] It's gotta be a video
[00:08:59] Right
[00:09:00] Oh I just assumed
[00:09:01] It was a video
[00:09:02] And it like
[00:09:02] Accidentally paused
[00:09:03] That's the picture
[00:09:04] So
[00:09:05] Do you guys
[00:09:06] Ever have a good night
[00:09:07] And you think
[00:09:08] You're taking a photo
[00:09:08] And then you go back
[00:09:10] And look
[00:09:11] And it's like
[00:09:14] What was I doing
[00:09:17] That's the picture
[00:09:18] You chucked
[00:09:19] Listen
[00:09:19] Laura
[00:09:20] It was a long night
[00:09:21] A lot was happening
[00:09:23] You are a brave
[00:09:24] Soldier
[00:09:25] Being here right now
[00:09:26] It was a long season
[00:09:27] But before we get
[00:09:28] Even into the episode
[00:09:29] You know
[00:09:30] The BWP Tour 47
[00:09:31] Has
[00:09:32] We've had 10 stops
[00:09:34] This is our biggest
[00:09:35] Tour ever
[00:09:37] If you go to
[00:09:38] A black church
[00:09:39] Sometimes they do
[00:09:39] Like a praise report
[00:09:41] And so I want to
[00:09:42] Just give
[00:09:42] Survivor News
[00:09:43] A praise report
[00:09:44] That
[00:09:44] Wendell and I
[00:09:45] Have completed
[00:09:46] 10 cities
[00:09:47] We have not had
[00:09:49] A fight
[00:09:50] During the cities
[00:09:51] And I'm very happy
[00:09:52] However
[00:09:53] Although we didn't
[00:09:54] Have fights
[00:09:54] During our tour
[00:09:56] Stops
[00:09:57] Last weekend
[00:09:58] Our friendship
[00:10:00] Was tested
[00:10:01] We
[00:10:01] Wendell and I
[00:10:02] Got into a
[00:10:03] You know
[00:10:04] When you fight
[00:10:05] With somebody
[00:10:05] How you fight
[00:10:06] You just don't talk
[00:10:07] We had an
[00:10:09] Uphill battle
[00:10:10] Last weekend
[00:10:11] And because
[00:10:12] I'm just being
[00:10:13] Real and transparent
[00:10:14] And I just
[00:10:16] Want to just
[00:10:16] Take the time
[00:10:17] To appreciate
[00:10:18] Wendeezy
[00:10:18] Because he's
[00:10:19] Not always
[00:10:20] Right
[00:10:20] And I'm
[00:10:21] Not always
[00:10:22] Wrong
[00:10:22] But I think
[00:10:23] The thing
[00:10:24] That I love
[00:10:24] The most
[00:10:25] About Wendeezy
[00:10:26] Is no matter
[00:10:27] How big
[00:10:28] The fight
[00:10:29] Is
[00:10:29] No matter
[00:10:30] How dramatic
[00:10:31] The one of us
[00:10:33] Might be
[00:10:33] And it's not
[00:10:34] Me
[00:10:38] I said
[00:10:38] Our friendship
[00:10:39] Has changed
[00:10:42] No matter
[00:10:43] What words
[00:10:45] We have
[00:10:45] Lauren
[00:10:45] The thing
[00:10:46] That I really
[00:10:46] Do love
[00:10:47] The most
[00:10:47] About Wendeezy
[00:10:48] Is
[00:10:49] After
[00:10:50] The next
[00:10:51] Day
[00:10:52] When he
[00:10:53] Realizes
[00:10:53] That you
[00:10:53] Were right
[00:10:55] No
[00:10:55] Because I
[00:10:56] Wasn't even
[00:10:57] Going to
[00:10:57] Call him
[00:10:58] The next
[00:10:58] Day
[00:10:58] The next
[00:10:59] Day
[00:11:00] Lauren
[00:11:01] Because this
[00:11:02] Has happened
[00:11:02] We've been
[00:11:03] Friends going on
[00:11:03] Six years
[00:11:04] At this point
[00:11:04] Now
[00:11:05] The very
[00:11:05] Next day
[00:11:06] After a
[00:11:06] Fight
[00:11:06] He always
[00:11:07] Picks up
[00:11:08] The phone
[00:11:08] And I
[00:11:09] Appreciate
[00:11:09] That
[00:11:10] And we
[00:11:11] Do talk
[00:11:11] It through
[00:11:12] I pick
[00:11:13] Up the
[00:11:13] Phone
[00:11:13] When it
[00:11:14] Rings
[00:11:14] But I
[00:11:15] Will not
[00:11:15] Pick up
[00:11:15] The phone
[00:11:16] To call
[00:11:16] Him
[00:11:19] Stand
[00:11:19] Your
[00:11:19] Ground
[00:11:21] Stand
[00:11:21] Your
[00:11:21] Ground
[00:11:22] Yeah
[00:11:22] Well
[00:11:23] You know
[00:11:24] I'm gonna
[00:11:24] Let that
[00:11:24] Slide
[00:11:25] Because listen
[00:11:25] The ice
[00:11:26] Is still
[00:11:26] Very thin
[00:11:27] But I
[00:11:28] Do appreciate
[00:11:29] Wendeezy
[00:11:30] Because I
[00:11:30] Feel like
[00:11:31] I'm a
[00:11:32] A special
[00:11:32] Kind of
[00:11:33] Person
[00:11:33] And it
[00:11:33] Takes
[00:11:34] A lot
[00:11:35] To understand
[00:11:36] Me
[00:11:36] And I
[00:11:36] Appreciate
[00:11:37] You
[00:11:37] And this
[00:11:38] Tour has
[00:11:38] Been epic
[00:11:39] And so
[00:11:39] I just
[00:11:39] Want to
[00:11:39] Just start
[00:11:40] It off
[00:11:40] With an
[00:11:41] Appreciation
[00:11:41] To my
[00:11:42] Very good
[00:11:43] Friend
[00:11:44] Well
[00:11:45] Now also
[00:11:45] What
[00:11:46] Go ahead
[00:11:47] Okay
[00:11:47] Cause I
[00:11:48] I'm gonna
[00:11:48] Talk about
[00:11:49] Something
[00:11:49] Else
[00:11:49] To Lauren
[00:11:50] And Jack
[00:11:51] But
[00:11:52] Any
[00:11:52] Response
[00:11:53] Wendeezy
[00:11:53] Real quick
[00:11:54] My only
[00:11:55] Response
[00:11:56] Is
[00:11:56] I don't
[00:11:57] Even
[00:11:57] Remember
[00:11:58] Why we
[00:11:58] Were
[00:11:58] Fighting
[00:11:59] But
[00:12:00] I was
[00:12:03] In the
[00:12:03] Right
[00:12:03] In that
[00:12:04] Case
[00:12:04] And
[00:12:06] I
[00:12:07] Appreciate
[00:12:07] You
[00:12:07] My
[00:12:07] Friend
[00:12:08] Bryce
[00:12:09] I
[00:12:10] Can't
[00:12:10] Tell
[00:12:10] If
[00:12:10] You
[00:12:10] Are
[00:12:19] Making
[00:12:20] Mad
[00:12:20] Again
[00:12:20] But
[00:12:21] We
[00:12:21] Had
[00:12:21] A
[00:12:21] Good
[00:12:23] Now
[00:12:25] Lauren
[00:12:25] And Jack
[00:12:27] I
[00:12:28] Was
[00:12:28] Minding
[00:12:29] My
[00:12:29] Business
[00:12:29] This
[00:12:30] Morning
[00:12:30] In
[00:12:31] My
[00:12:31] Bed
[00:12:31] After
[00:12:32] I
[00:12:34] Walked
[00:12:36] Nevermind
[00:12:37] Uh
[00:12:37] After
[00:12:38] I
[00:12:38] Had
[00:12:38] To
[00:12:38] Like
[00:12:38] Go
[00:12:39] To
[00:12:39] The
[00:12:39] Lobby
[00:12:39] And
[00:12:39] Come
[00:12:40] Back
[00:12:40] Up
[00:12:40] To
[00:12:40] My
[00:12:40] Room
[00:12:40] But
[00:12:41] After
[00:12:41] I
[00:12:41] Had
[00:12:41] My
[00:12:42] Space
[00:12:42] To
[00:12:43] Myself
[00:12:43] I'm
[00:12:44] Doing
[00:12:44] A
[00:12:50] New
[00:12:50] Couple
[00:12:51] Alert
[00:12:51] New
[00:12:52] Couple
[00:12:52] Alert
[00:12:53] New

[00:12:53] Alert
[00:12:54] I'm
[00:12:54] Like
[00:12:54] Oh

[00:12:54] God
[00:12:55] Who's
[00:12:55] In
[00:12:55] A
[00:12:55] Relationship
[00:12:56] Can

[00:12:57] Believe
[00:12:57] That
[00:12:57] The
[00:12:58] Rumor
[00:13:00] I'm
[00:13:01] Sorry

[00:13:17] Out

[00:13:18] I
[00:13:18] Not

[00:14:19] so about to comment and be like i'm so excited for him this is so i'm so excited to send me out
[00:14:23] their biggest secret i've had to keep absolutely oh no i'm 100 going on there and commenting that
[00:14:29] i'm fueling that fire wait lauren i'm so pissed it's like why did not release that video
[00:14:41] i mean bryce you've seen you've seen me me and sue out and about you know so like you could have
[00:14:48] you could have had the breaking news so i'm just saying yeah but that
[00:14:54] congratulations
[00:14:59] i said kind of wild you attend the party that they work hard to host and then throw out some crazy
[00:15:04] rumors you're no fun i thought i thought i've seen wendell go through the ringer and i'm gonna
[00:15:12] stop this all right well i'm about to go comment and be like jack shut up we all know it's true
[00:15:18] i love that we have both jack who i love and he's gonna hold me down and lauren you who we love so
[00:15:24] much and you're just gonna talk trash i love it i'm here for both times that's a fantastic video i
[00:15:32] laughed way more than i should have at it um and had i known that it was okay to comment
[00:15:39] immediately mind you it is crazy though because it's like wendell in the video is going in to tell
[00:15:45] sue like hey like we're going this way but you do go in kind of slow and sue's neck does like
[00:15:55] yo you know what you know what i was telling bryce we just walked in again we said 450 people
[00:16:06] sorry no i thought i thought i thought it was vibrating on the table i thought sue was calling
[00:16:14] so we just walked in and we got to make sure sue sue had plus 30 plus 30 so we had to make sure
[00:16:22] go off sue her entourage got to the vip you were meeting the family
[00:16:29] my daughter was there i met the family i met her daughter i met everybody and uh yeah so anyway
[00:16:37] me and my new family we were walking to the vip section and i guess someone spotted sue and i
[00:16:44] you know telling each other how much we love each other and they put it on the internet
[00:16:51] these kids these days can't be trusted with with those iphones so gotta be careful thanks bryce
[00:16:57] i had you know i'm complicit okay hashtag bryce is complicit i'm so glad i had seen that tiktok
[00:17:03] before this because had i not i mean i was a little nervous about what you're about to say because i
[00:17:08] did not know what direction that's going in and i'm really glad that i was in on in on that joke
[00:17:12] i got you boo well listen we got all of the particulars out jackery take us home for the
[00:17:18] final moderation of season 47 wow it's bittersweet bryce i do want to give a quick report from the
[00:17:25] west coast i mean you guys were holding on the east coast lauren and i held it down out in la uh
[00:17:31] and you know it was no bryce and wendell but it was a good time uh and i gotta say a lot of the 47ers
[00:17:36] people i didn't expect said survivor news is their favorite survivor podcast so i just had to share
[00:17:42] that report with with you guys uh just and just throw that out there and thanks to anyone you
[00:17:48] know survivor player or not who's been listening but yeah this was a great finale to a what's up wendell
[00:17:54] i was just gonna say that's what they call survivor news your favorite survivors favorite podcast
[00:18:00] just saying i do also have to say jack there were a lot of people coming up to me saying uh from our
[00:18:07] last episode i think you and i were saying to the posse we need a posse member on season 49 and i got
[00:18:15] about 10 people coming up to me saying like it's gonna be me so if you spoke to me last night i hope
[00:18:23] it is you let's make it happen oh let's go 49 or 48 49 because 48 48 what i mean if you know you
[00:18:34] know but yeah yeah no i'm tracking i'm tracking i was just wondering i was in the building in
[00:18:39] brooklyn but you know you ain't here to me relax yourself bryce is there
[00:18:45] um yeah what a great finish to a great season i don't even know where to where to get into it
[00:18:53] but it was a hell of an episode it was a battle at final travel council too uh and rachel well
[00:19:00] deserving um i don't even know where do you guys want to start it was a little bit different than
[00:19:04] past finales you know we start right at four and get into that that epic challenge and then the fire
[00:19:09] making uh which was also wild um what what stuck out to you guys where should we start i don't know
[00:19:17] well i got a question do we like that it's a two-part finale now that we now that we've seen
[00:19:22] what's happened um do we like that we had this you know two hours and two hours uh because when i was
[00:19:30] watching this one as soon as rachel won that immunity challenge i'm like game over so i'm kind of glad that
[00:19:37] they saved it for this this portion because i don't know that's that was my take i i'm with you i think uh
[00:19:46] when we have the three-hour finale sometimes it's like
[00:19:50] you know give it to me quick like you know like like bring somebody back that hasn't played in a
[00:19:58] minute make it six final six instead of final five really fill that finale right right like it's like
[00:20:05] following me i don't know i think i i think i am but i don't know it was a joke it was just
[00:20:16] it was so interesting that there were four people in this finale and i was joking about the fact that
[00:20:20] my family had six six of us six and then five and then six again um but i feel like since i was
[00:20:27] on it which feels like a lifetime ago they're just showing so much more of the personal stories and so
[00:20:32] cutting it into two parts let us see i think more of the personal journey that that final three had
[00:20:39] and feel a bit more connected to them i don't know if you guys felt this way but going into the final
[00:20:43] three i was like i care about all three of these people like i really i think in their heads all of
[00:20:48] all three of them believe they can win i think that they're going to give a good personal story and
[00:20:52] so i think cutting it into two allowed us to see that versus kind of stuffing so much into a finale
[00:20:57] getting to the final three and being like oh okay they won as far as the pacing went i wasn't mad at
[00:21:05] it but the one thing for me was that like you said wendell when you know going in this finale
[00:21:11] it was sort of like okay if rachel doesn't lose fire making or the challenge or whatever we can kind
[00:21:18] of assume she's gonna win so i feel like had you know they saved that final five as part of this
[00:21:23] finale with genevive's exit there would have been a little bit more um intrigue going in of like
[00:21:30] the genevive versus rachel showdown like genevive has a good shot to win rachel has a good shot to
[00:21:35] sit when sam's a dark horse plus you think about like that epic final six tribal last week you know
[00:21:42] having that then that final five being right after you kind of lose a little bit of that that you like
[00:21:47] are talking about the rest of the week so i would have liked maybe that final five to be part of the
[00:21:51] finale but as far as like you know being at a finale watch party i'm kind of glad we didn't have
[00:21:56] to sit through like three hours of survivor right it was nice to have it split up so kind of a kind of a
[00:22:02] double-edged sword i'll say this i was right when rachel won the immunity i said okay give it a million
[00:22:11] dollars right like i kind of was like over it in the sense that she was so deserving however i do want
[00:22:16] to give props to the editors and just even maybe should i say the wind because although i felt like
[00:22:23] the deal was sealed after rachel won that fire making challenge in my opinion was had me on the
[00:22:31] edge of my seat and that's kind of like the excitement that i needed and wanted for the episode
[00:22:36] so although i didn't love it as a viewer and of course i'm team rachel wanted rachel to win but i
[00:22:43] wanted some like i don't know what's going to happen what's what is it going to be i felt like
[00:22:48] the win so shout out to the world and and sam really brought it at the final trouble too and that's
[00:22:55] actually something i want to ask you guys about because i feel like you said you know you give
[00:22:59] some props to the editors um we were kind of sitting there thinking is sam gonna pull out this win
[00:23:05] now my question about that is like i feel like there has to be things that rachel shared at final
[00:23:10] tribal council that maybe weren't shown in order to make it a little bit less obvious do you guys want
[00:23:17] it to be like edited so that it's sort of up in the air or do you want to feel like okay rachel ends up
[00:23:22] winning i want to see everything that rachel talked about to really win the jury over because i'm kind
[00:23:27] of split on it like uh it's a tv show so there may they they want it to be as suspenseful as possible
[00:23:35] and drama filled as they can to tilt to still tell like this the story so i yeah you want to see it
[00:23:43] but you don't want to watch a landslide you know you want to see you you want there to be some some
[00:23:49] idea and even walking into this episode i'm like no a rachel win is too obvious so and we've seen
[00:23:58] gabler do it you know so there's got to be something that's going to happen so i as they got
[00:24:07] to tell it's it's got to be an entertaining television show at the end of the day if you ask me
[00:24:11] and that's why they're gonna bolster whoever's going to be second or even third whatever they're
[00:24:16] going to make sure that they look like they're giving this person some go i have a question for
[00:24:22] you guys and i don't think we've ever talked about this but i have an interesting kind of backstory to
[00:24:28] it the final four fire making challenge right rachel said an interest had an interesting comment
[00:24:33] about i don't have to give the necklace up well actually let me backtrack jeff says who are you
[00:24:39] going to make earn their spot in the final four which i think is a really interesting way to word
[00:24:44] that rachel comes back and says i don't have to give my i don't have to give my necklace up to beat sam
[00:24:50] because i've already earned my spot so backtrack to 2018 i am sitting in fiji at pregame the day
[00:24:57] before we are marooned we watched your finale wendell yes uh-huh we watched your finale and
[00:25:04] there was a bunch of commentary about how if he'd given the necklace up and he had competed in fire
[00:25:11] which i'm telling you i think changed the entire trajectory of our end game i stand by it i think
[00:25:16] there's no way that that idea not to discredit the move that chris made on my season chris played a
[00:25:23] perfect like i think all survivors that get the most amount of jury votes deserve to win i just want
[00:25:28] to make that very clear however the day before we are marooned we see your finale we see all this
[00:25:35] discourse surrounding well if he had given the necklace up to beat him in fire then he probably
[00:25:41] would have won yeah and i think that i i think that that i mean i know that that's the idea that
[00:25:46] was circulating around edge of extinction when it the plan was kind of devised right so my question
[00:25:53] for you is do you think that the idea that someone has to earn their way into the final four
[00:26:03] through fire is the way to word that or is it and do you think that that changes the way the jury sees
[00:26:09] that third jury member or is it a you lost so you have a chance to save yourself good luck
[00:26:18] because i i don't think at all that the person who wins that final immunity challenge should ever feel
[00:26:24] like unless they played an absolutely terrible terrible game i get it it's the last thing that
[00:26:28] jury members see but if you've had a game like rachel right why do you feel like you need to give that
[00:26:35] necklace up just to prove something so that's my question for you is i know you have a really
[00:26:40] interesting experience with that so so what's the question just kidding no no but to that first of all
[00:26:49] chris underwood because he had such a limited time in the game and because rick devins was still there
[00:26:55] you gotta swing for the fences and everything you can totally yeah like he made every perfect move at
[00:27:00] the end uh absolutely coast island i think if dom would have relinquished that necklace uh i think uh
[00:27:08] do you think he obviously he needed to in order to beat you right but how much of he got so like he got
[00:27:16] as close as you can like if if the wind would like if he would have relinquished it and taken me out at
[00:27:23] fire or whatever would have happened at fire then he's sitting at the end with uh angela and laurel and he
[00:27:29] wins um if he would have relinquished it and just taken or let me go to the end and maybe beat an
[00:27:37] angela maybe that's another tick on his resume and maybe that discredits you do you feel like that
[00:27:44] discredits you because now he's given you this way into final i just think it's a really interesting
[00:27:48] conversation okay so okay if if if you're asking me if dom wins takes it off gives it to um lets me walk
[00:27:57] to final and he goes and beat someone yeah i think that that makes me look a little weaker
[00:28:04] it's like yo man go ahead i'm gonna beat you tomorrow night and what happened in 45 did did
[00:28:13] d send austin right to um the final two what happened because i think i'm thinking like when you put
[00:28:23] someone there it's like all right you can beat them so in my case it'll be like dom is putting me there
[00:28:29] he can he can beat me and then i feel like recently we saw something like that so yeah yeah to to
[00:28:36] your to your point i think it would make the jury think like dag like this guy is very confident in
[00:28:44] himself and he thinks that that person maybe not be a layup but might just be someone like
[00:28:48] that he could just beat applying that to this okay go ahead keep going applying that to this season
[00:28:56] first of all rachel's game speaks for itself she's a beast you don't need to prove anything else she
[00:29:02] should have won that um so what would we do in that situation she would she wouldn't have to take
[00:29:09] anything off like she wouldn't yeah there's no but also when it comes to like earning your way in
[00:29:16] i do think it's a hey y'all lost and now it's like all right one of you one of you losers beat
[00:29:23] the other to to get to sit at the end and that was me i was one of the losers that had to beat the
[00:29:28] other to sit at the end but fortunately i had a strong game to go with me losing that final four
[00:29:34] challenge yeah i don't think it's a one size fits all ever obviously but i do think it's really
[00:29:39] interesting to have someone like sam right he gets to have this big win in front of the jury it's the
[00:29:45] last thing they see because they don't see the final immunity challenge they don't see whatever
[00:29:50] happened that rachel had to do in order to win that immunity necklace that's giving her the same
[00:29:56] journey to the final three that sam is relatively getting right they're both getting there by winning
[00:30:03] something but the jury gets to see the final four that's a great challenge and so i it's like the last
[00:30:09] thing they see before they have to go them something that looks strong and so this is so interesting
[00:30:18] right because it's like i feel like rachel gave sam a extra oh right because like the thought is if
[00:30:28] she would have brought sam with her like do you think that that would have changed anything from the jury
[00:30:34] he only got one go anyway right right so that's very interesting because i really think like him
[00:30:41] beating it in fire kind of adds a little more like to his game and that's what i'm saying is i think
[00:30:49] that the person who wins fire that is the last thing the jury is saying they don't get to see that
[00:30:53] final immunity challenge and so it's like i think i mean obviously it's not the same for every
[00:31:00] season um and rachel had a fantastic game but i i just think it's such an interesting way to listen
[00:31:06] to jeff word it as earn your way into the final three because yes you are but i really feel like
[00:31:12] it discredits that person who wins the final four immunity challenge yeah i'm glad you brought this up
[00:31:18] because i think there's a lot of different things to talk about with it i agree like i think at least in
[00:31:24] my mind and it feels like a lot of especially more like the modern survivor players is that
[00:31:28] you shouldn't really care that much about fire right if you already have the best resume
[00:31:32] it shouldn't affect things like you shouldn't if rachel shouldn't have to give up the immunity but
[00:31:37] like you said nobody sees the immunity challenge but you do see somebody inevitably succeeding in
[00:31:42] fire and sometimes that now i agree with giving up the necklace if it's like okay uh wendell's gonna
[00:31:49] win the game and i'm the only one who can beat him in fire i have to give up the necklace and take
[00:31:53] him out in fire but um in any other circumstance i don't think you need to the interesting thing you
[00:31:58] guys also brought up is like that idea of right so inevitably you know even if someone says they
[00:32:03] don't care about fire just seeing someone triumph might be a small nudge in any sort of direction
[00:32:09] and so then it's like i remember xander said that in 41 he brought um erica with him to the end and
[00:32:18] made deshawn and heather make fire because he was actually the most scared of erica winning and so he
[00:32:23] wanted he said he thought hey like instead of you know if i bring her to the end don't give her that
[00:32:28] chance to shine i think i might be able to beat her but if i let her make fire and she wins then she might
[00:32:33] be able to edge me out and so it's just that idea of bringing someone to the end and not giving them
[00:32:37] that moment is also very um interesting but i think rachel played it totally fine like to me you
[00:32:43] shouldn't feel like you have to make fire it's it's literally it's just that just making fire like
[00:32:48] it's not that impressive of a thing you're on survivor right like but do you make fire jack uh
[00:32:55] i might be in the same situation where you know but if i was out there for 26 days i feel pretty good
[00:33:01] about the fact that i would uh be able to make a fire i'm a good fire builder i haven't experimented
[00:33:06] 26 ain't that long jack oh it's a new era that's hey that's all you need i kid i agree with you i
[00:33:12] agree with you but um i mean i'll stay an extra 13 and just hang out um yeah it was surprising me
[00:33:21] how underprepared sam was but he had that dog in it to flush it out but but so that was another
[00:33:27] question and maybe i was one margarita in was he really underprepared or was he just like
[00:33:38] saying that to save him he was under i think he was gonna say yeah but also while y'all were out
[00:33:46] there how many times did you personally make your make the fire for your camp i was out there for a
[00:33:52] total of nine days i was a part of we didn't get flint and it's it's not a hateful question
[00:33:58] it's generally like there are people that just didn't ever make the fire for their camp there
[00:34:02] are people that's just like wasn't what they did so if he's out there for 26 days he might not have
[00:34:06] ever made or however long he's out there you know what i mean out there they call me little wayne
[00:34:11] because i was the fire man fire man okay like i was a part of helping the get the fire started and
[00:34:17] i kept the fire going so like i like i was very prepared already well that is not even to disagree
[00:34:22] with you right it's just like i i see why that's a good question because you know you might get the
[00:34:27] fire started day one with the flint someone does that but as long as it's still going then you're
[00:34:33] just adding fuel to it you know you're just adding it's not that it's not that simple
[00:34:38] especially if you're going to tribal as many times as my track did that is a strategy game to keep
[00:34:43] that thing going while you're you keep it going you're adding but you can't know but it might not
[00:34:49] be the act of like scraping the flint that i don't know how many times that would happen because it's
[00:34:54] like you might get it and keep it going for days and then okay you can be tending to the fire adding
[00:35:00] sticks poking things around but you might not have that practice of like okay so okay well
[00:35:06] jack is the last okay just the last episode jack but what i'm about to say is
[00:35:12] giving the fire sticks and feeding the fire is a very respectable job it takes a lot okay
[00:35:18] you just diminished well but i'm saying it's a respectable job but if you if all you've done
[00:35:27] the whole season is is fuel the fire but you've never practiced with the flint then obviously you're
[00:35:31] going to be on the are you trying to fuel my fire right now i didn't know i didn't know me to start
[00:35:37] this i was really just i didn't know this isn't an argument they're trying to diminish somebody's
[00:35:43] work and reputation well right if you add a bunch of sticks to a fire you ain't add some sticks oh my
[00:35:50] god fire everyone would be in my own with you right you can't just be like for the fire making
[00:35:56] challenge i just want to add the sticks i don't know you got to do the other part too but also
[00:36:01] at the fire making challenge you need to add the stick at the right time building the fire is just
[00:36:09] as important as getting out of the fire you can get a flame but i'm telling you that thing's going to
[00:36:16] go quick talk about it lauren exactly i'm just yeah i'm not trying to argue with anyone
[00:36:20] being able to light the fire and then the rest of it after you you haven't been here for weeks
[00:36:28] but jack has turned into a different animal okay lauren jack has three people in the comments
[00:36:33] that like agree with jack and two of the people are jack
[00:36:39] and now
[00:36:43] and one of the biggest jack supporters in the comments their name is q jack mama yeah q jacks
[00:36:52] so i mean i just but yeah this wasn't meant to be a hot take all i'm saying is if you haven't
[00:36:56] practiced lighting the flint you might not be ready for the fire okay so we're clear though i i
[00:37:05] practiced i helped start our original fly fire and for the remainder two days that i was there i kept
[00:37:12] it what i was saying was not diminishing what you about anything about you i'm saying maybe sam was
[00:37:17] there and throughout the his time on the island was helping you know keep that fire going but if he
[00:37:23] hadn't ever been the one to start it then you're gonna have a hard time starting a fire if you've
[00:37:31] never done that step you know true now when's the last time you start a fire jack um i've started a
[00:37:40] couple fires you know but usually i have like a i don't have a lighter uh or like a yeah match
[00:37:49] or a match yeah match and maybe like a fire starting log but i can build a good fire don't
[00:37:54] get me wrong but if you threw me in a fire big challenge right now i've never used i've never
[00:37:58] really used a flint so i that's why i'd have to practice a little bit lauren before you went out
[00:38:03] did you practice fire um once or twice maybe listen i was like the most underprepared person most
[00:38:12] naive person going into the show ever you need to understand i had about let's see they told me
[00:38:18] last week of april and i left may 23rd so i had like four weeks to graduate from college move out
[00:38:26] of baylor move home get my stuff ready for georgetown figure out what the heck i was gonna do with like
[00:38:32] clothing and all like i had very little time and i was like oh so very little practice with the fire but i
[00:38:40] did i did make the fire quite a few times while actually on our tribe um now what so because jack
[00:38:49] is here did you make it or did you just add sticks to an already going fire so we're clear that's a
[00:38:56] great question bryce i did i did make it i did make it um but i will say shout out to kelly wentworth
[00:39:03] which i've never ever been on a survivor podcast in my life and not talked about kelly wentworth so we
[00:39:08] did it in somewhere um but she like 24 7 is making sure that fire is going throughout the night
[00:39:16] and i wouldn't like there's something about waking up freezing seeing that your fire has gone out
[00:39:21] that makes you really appreciate the people that put the sticks on the fire jack that's real
[00:39:28] and that same but in that same token because that's what i thought going out on kagiyan
[00:39:35] if i keep that fire going they would appreciate a girl they would show a girl love i wish i would
[00:39:43] have let that mother go out because that was one of my tactics i like i i was constantly
[00:39:52] in the middle of the night getting up and i'm like oh they're gonna be like we gotta keep price because
[00:39:58] he's he's keeping the fire going and random fact i used to go to the well in the morning
[00:40:05] and in the afternoon and i would fill up everybody's water they did not deserve you
[00:40:10] they did not deserve you you were too good
[00:40:15] those mfers all right i got a question about the fire we saw teeny with the wind issue and we saw um
[00:40:24] sam with sitting right next to her he didn't have as bad of a wind issue um should teeny have
[00:40:31] rotated her body to the side where the wind was blocked by the wind but can't can't you do that
[00:40:39] yes i'm gonna be so honest i was so confused how the wind was only hitting hers and
[00:40:45] i was getting into any wind no for sure it literally looked like i was like who what's
[00:40:50] happening i clearly do not understand whether in the slightest because it didn't look like
[00:40:55] the wind was hitting his at all or it looked like it was coming the opposite way i'm like
[00:40:59] what's going on we had so much wind on my season that they did it up in the um voting booth so we
[00:41:05] didn't even see the fireman challenge we just like heard jeff narrate it um which is crazy
[00:41:11] um but jeff was just narrating it because there was so much wind did the wind start halfway through
[00:41:18] because it looked like her her fire was going for so long i don't know if that's how they edited it
[00:41:23] but it looked like it was hitting that rope for so long yeah it looked like that maybe they wanted
[00:41:29] the drama this time maybe they were like there's some wind we're gonna see yeah i also feel like on
[00:41:35] these first time seasons you even saying that wendell should she moved her body like i feel like
[00:41:42] when i was out there i was like whatever they say you gotta do and so like i feel like there could
[00:41:48] have been a part of production saying like sit here and build your fire that would have never
[00:41:53] crossed my mind to get up and like block the wind with my body that's such a good point because
[00:41:59] she's they're super young correct 20 30 i while i was watching this finale i was thinking about that
[00:42:10] because i was 21 when i was on it i was thinking about how differently i would play now because i
[00:42:16] think because i was so young and just said it in i guess the reunion or whatever they call it now
[00:42:21] about how just life experience it does impact your game and i remember him telling me that when i was
[00:42:27] like surgeries on my knee i played college soccer like i'm good i look back i'm like oh my gosh i
[00:42:34] play so differently now because i have so much more of my like identity formed i i don't i question
[00:42:39] things more i feel more comfortable in my own skin and i feel able to like make decisions based on what
[00:42:47] i think is best versus just listening to someone so i think it's such a good point for us to say okay maybe
[00:42:53] they're just sitting there being like this is what i have to do i can't make a change to what they've told me
[00:42:57] versus you wendell who's like i can do whatever the heck i want right a hundred percent that whole um
[00:43:04] like i looked at when i was on i was i was 33 and i told myself after that season i'm like man if i
[00:43:11] would have gotten on in my 20s i would have played a totally different game and i'm so glad that i got
[00:43:16] on at this stage in life because how many times did you apply prior to this um quite a few times and
[00:43:22] you only applied once with a 30 second video and you made it nine days that was hateful for the
[00:43:29] reason you see how nasty is during the holiday time yeah i like that
[00:43:33] i love that i only applied once too bryce okay
[00:43:40] got called the next day but it's not so much about how many times i'm also a loser
[00:43:46] as am i and as i'm jack but
[00:43:53] it's lauren it's not about how many times wendell has applied it's the fact that i've seen
[00:44:01] 13 of the videos and when i say lauren they are bad like there's one video
[00:44:12] where wendell used to clerk in a courthouse and like for the first two minutes of the video
[00:44:20] with clerk
[00:44:21] first two minutes
[00:44:23] girl i i said
[00:44:27] the first two minutes of the video is wendell walking into the courtroom
[00:44:37] he sets the phone up and then he's like
[00:44:43] hi my name is wendell holland
[00:44:46] i'm sitting in a courtroom i was like what
[00:44:50] the jury box and i told them that i'm not gonna be in a jury box
[00:44:56] listen we can make we can make fun of you because you won and we didn't
[00:44:59] let us have it right let us have it yeah he he spent two minutes walking in
[00:45:06] set the camera is that the one i got you cast no clearly no you can tell i can't imagine why
[00:45:16] you know what i don't want to eat though because he set the camera down that he walked in the jury box
[00:45:25] my name's wendell holland all right can we as you can see
[00:45:32] this is this is this is not a roast we're here to talk about
[00:45:37] rachel and thank you do you feel like she got a winners edit
[00:45:44] yes and no yes and no because but let's be clear that there have been seasons that
[00:45:54] in my opinion when we say winners edit there have been older seasons where from day one
[00:46:04] they are shining a light on someone and it's like very
[00:46:12] look at them and i so i don't say rachel got a winners edit right i feel like there were
[00:46:20] peaks and valleys now i feel like towards the beginning there were a lot of valleys however
[00:46:28] at the end there were peaks and when she peaked it was peaky not peek-a-poo no not peak
[00:46:35] no what is it peek-a-boo it wasn't peek-a-boo it was just
[00:46:41] peek i have a another follow-up question what do you think her most impressive move was
[00:46:50] okay it was a good question so my point blank period can't wait when she utilized her
[00:47:01] shot in the dark shot in the dark to gauge them mfers on a body language and moves for me
[00:47:10] she sold me like that like for me that was very impressive we didn't really get to see you talk about
[00:47:16] that that's kind of talk about that though that was kind of like what i was like referring to is
[00:47:20] that that was such a great move and we didn't hear her elaborate on it at all but i agree they gave us
[00:47:27] breadcrumbs like when she tried to steal rice yeah and then you get um then you get her making that
[00:47:33] shot in the dark move if she's not the winner i don't think they take so much attention showing us
[00:47:40] how like how much time she took with it and her like looks they might have shown it briefly or something
[00:47:46] but like they really fed that that portion to us so you got the rice you got that and then she goes on
[00:47:52] these immunity runs and like wins when she has to win takes out freaking genevieve who is such a strong
[00:47:58] player to me it's like she in the new era this is what we call a winner's edit from my perspective
[00:48:05] yeah sure i felt that she was going so i didn't think there was any chance she didn't win after
[00:48:12] they showed her playing her idol and the reason i say that is because and this isn't to discredit
[00:48:18] the move at all or what she had done but would have been nice if someone had told me and every
[00:48:24] single person on my tribe had told me hey we're voting for you tonight you know what i mean and i
[00:48:28] had an idol and nobody knew about it like i'm not saying that i i understand holding on to the idol
[00:48:33] there's so many things that go into that play working and making her a great player right but i
[00:48:38] i think they really really made that play so important and made her like they showed her creeping
[00:48:45] up on them listening as if you know they weren't about to just tell her the next day hey we're voting
[00:48:49] for you ma'am you got to play your idol now that they knew but i felt like had she
[00:48:54] not been the winner it would have just been like yeah i think i'm going home and she would have
[00:49:00] played her idol do you disagree i agree i also feel like for me one of her biggest strengths or
[00:49:08] one of her biggest moves that's not necessarily a move is she never got comfortable i feel like
[00:49:13] season after season we always see there's a moment or maybe not even a moment where the editors are
[00:49:21] asking you questions and you give them that like i'm good jack leaving the night right like i feel
[00:49:28] like she was cognizant enough to know this whole time that whether or not she's in a good position or
[00:49:34] not like i gotta keep fighting i have to like i gotta keep shaking the table and i felt like she's been
[00:49:40] shaking the table and trying to figure out how to continue to just stay alive and i think like that's
[00:49:46] really her greatest move for me how i feel like i need to preface this because i think she is
[00:49:52] phenomenal i think her game was amazing i listening to her talk about things listening to the way that
[00:49:56] she was looking at the game just so so so impressive fantastic but how much of you saying we never heard
[00:50:03] her get comfortable do you think as the editors because there is for sure one confessional i personally
[00:50:09] remember of myself being like i will actually jump off a roof if they play this because so embarrassing
[00:50:16] so embarrassing and they did it they didn't play it and it was one of those moments where i was like
[00:50:19] oh my like just really feeling myself thought it was awesome i would have looked like an idiot i would
[00:50:25] look like an idiot and i think the reason they didn't show it was because they had to show why chris
[00:50:30] playing how he did was so important like there were reasons why i think that wasn't shown so i'm just
[00:50:35] wondering if you think you really think she was never feeling comfortable or if there were moments
[00:50:40] where she felt comfortable and we just didn't see it i don't think she i i think she's the person
[00:50:44] that never got comfortable yeah um i really do and did she ever have a chance to feel comfortable
[00:50:51] right eyes were on her and all the time yeah she was a head and shoulders above a lot of players it's like
[00:51:00] if you get comfortable like they're coming for you you can't you have no yeah which is kind of
[00:51:06] not a nice place to be but at least there is a sense of urgency there's a sense of needing to win
[00:51:13] and i think that that helps i think it helps so much i think the second that you ever feel like you have
[00:51:22] the next day figured out is the day that you go home yeah is this a good analogy does this make sense
[00:51:28] sometimes when you're at work right you don't really want it to be busy like you want it to be slow
[00:51:35] but when it's slow the time goes by super slow however when you're at work and it happens to be a
[00:51:44] busy day the time like you hate that it's busy but like at the end of the day it's like wait a minute
[00:51:50] it's five o'clock already see your holes like i feel like some part of that can be applied to like
[00:51:57] rachel feeling like i always have to like yeah they always coming for me they always i think a big
[00:52:05] thing about rachel's game too is like we talked about a little bit in the past is she did get lucky
[00:52:10] in a lot of ways but that's part of the game and i always felt like her read on things was always very
[00:52:16] accurate i always felt like whatever was thrown her way whether it was something that was lucky or
[00:52:20] unlucky or whatever she would like read and react very strategically uh and so i i just felt like it
[00:52:28] was really a master class almost on new era survivor because you know i miss those flashy like tony
[00:52:36] block coast wins but i think in the new era everyone's so sharp that we're not going to have like a woo
[00:52:43] taking tony to the end and letting tony win it's people always are kind of a bit more aware these days of what
[00:52:49] the pecking order is and so if you want to have like a strong game you got to look at rachel's because
[00:52:55] she kept like a low threat level made some moves behind the scenes and it wasn't always being flashy
[00:53:00] until she had to at the end but was just taking information and just kind of moving smartly with
[00:53:06] it and it's not going to be the flashiest i mean it kind of got flashy at the end when it had to be but
[00:53:12] i just think that's how people have to position themselves because it's like we like we see like
[00:53:16] whoever sticks their neck out or too early they get cut next you know so well question for you on that
[00:53:23] same in that same breath how important do you think it is for someone to have voted right
[00:53:28] throughout the game because sam makes a comment about how he never got a vote wrong and how
[00:53:35] i think he said something along the lines of like rachel never voting correctly and i know
[00:53:38] like on my season there was conversation about you were never you never knew what was going on you
[00:53:43] never knew what was going on you just kind of got here somehow which again not for rachel but like
[00:53:49] on my season that was a conversation of like you never knew what was going on you just got here
[00:53:52] versus someone who voted right every time how important do you think that is
[00:53:56] but see i also feel like that speaks to our point of you you're back against the wall the whole game
[00:54:03] right if you're voting correctly the whole time then it means like
[00:54:06] you just going with the numbers i almost and this is something a nuance that i don't necessarily get
[00:54:13] the the obsession with wanting to vote right and be on the right side of the vote for me my obsession
[00:54:18] would be maintaining relationships right like yeah i might have said your name it's an indicator of
[00:54:24] maintaining relationships though because if you're voting right it means they've let you in on the plan
[00:54:30] and you were in on the majority i'm not i'm playing devil's advocate here yeah no no i'm not making an
[00:54:36] opinion i'm just saying that do you think that maintaining relationships can be equivalent to voting
[00:54:42] correctly see i also feel like but sometimes in the game of life where it's like you ever walk up to a
[00:54:50] let's say water ice maybe that's not a good like a pretzel stand right and you see a long line
[00:54:55] and you what do you do you automatically get in the long you get behind the person but there's three
[00:55:01] windows like you don't want to walk up to the other window and discover that like oh it's open
[00:55:05] sometimes i feel like with voting it's hard to actually tell because you could have a good
[00:55:11] relationship with you i can have a good relationship with you lauren but you won't vote me out because
[00:55:17] wendell and jack are saying my name and you just want to like it's that follow the leader type of
[00:55:22] trade like that's a hard indicator at time i agree because it's great to be in on the vote right but
[00:55:30] um sometimes i like your analogy bryson to throw like a similar analogy it's like okay maybe there's
[00:55:35] one last seat i like the cool kids table and you want to jump in and be a part of that but maybe there's
[00:55:41] another another smaller table with some new people you can jump in with it it might not be that main
[00:55:45] group but maybe you can make a little bit more happen right like sometimes there's people in the game who
[00:55:49] can just get in on the vote but if you're never attempting to steer the steer the steer the vote
[00:55:55] uh drive the car then okay you're in every on everything but what did you really like
[00:56:01] piece together and with rachel you know she was out of the annika vote that was one of the votes
[00:56:06] early on like so be it and then i guess the other vote she was out on was the operation italy vote
[00:56:12] but it's like at that point she's a big threat so there's going to be moves made against her
[00:56:16] and so you can't really hold that against her and then to sam i mean i he did a great job of being
[00:56:20] in on the vote but you know he he wasn't out of the sierra vote because he didn't have a vote but i
[00:56:26] think we could all say for all intents and purposes he wasn't in on that vote right like the vote got
[00:56:30] split on him he very easily could have gone home so if you think about post-merge incorrect votes i'd
[00:56:36] basically say like sam was wrong on that one and rachel was wrong on like the operation italy um
[00:56:41] i don't know it's great to vote right the problem is like what i was saying with new era if you can't
[00:56:46] spearhead every vote right so sometimes naturally you might like in the olden days kim spadlin
[00:56:51] could just tell her squad like what to do and lead every vote and that was really impressive but now
[00:56:56] if you're trying to drive every vote you're gonna get in trouble so sometimes like you might have to
[00:57:01] be on the wrong side of one um it's just like how you recover and also like you can get to the end
[00:57:07] of the game by by either being on the right side of the vote and being dragged to the end or being
[00:57:13] outside the vote and being someone that they're like yeah we can sit next to this person at the end
[00:57:17] or by being outside of some votes but so good at the game elusive strong and
[00:57:25] able to win challenges that they don't have an opportunity to take you out it's like all right
[00:57:30] this person who was my adversary in the game is a strong freaking player and they got to the end
[00:57:37] all right you were out of a few votes but you didn't give us an opportunity to snipe you
[00:57:42] and now you have a a wonderful seat at the end and i guess another thing that makes me think about
[00:57:48] too lauren i'm loving the questions because you yes yeah right i haven't talked survivor in like so
[00:57:54] long so this is this is fun what i was gonna say is like maybe sometimes like maybe not being on the
[00:58:01] vote can be more impressive than being on the vote that's what i was gonna ask like okay maybe you
[00:58:07] weren't in on the vote but what you attempted to do was creative or maybe it was the right move for you
[00:58:13] and like sure it didn't work maybe you got blindsided but your head was in the right place whereas
[00:58:18] someone might be in on the vote against their best interest just because they want to be part of what's
[00:58:23] going on it's like well actually maybe you should go branch out a little bit and shake things up
[00:58:27] instead of just being in on the vote what what stands out more that's exactly what i was gonna
[00:58:34] ask because wendell said something so interesting he said well if he's beast and challenges and they're
[00:58:40] winning all these things and we didn't give him a chance to snipe him like all it shows that you
[00:58:44] place value on winning challenges on the physical aspect of survivor versus and i'm not saying you give
[00:58:51] it more credit than not but i think that there are some people that wouldn't care if you won every
[00:58:57] immunity challenge if you did x y and z better so it's like is someone who was scrappy and won all
[00:59:04] these immunity challenges and was never in on the vote and was unable to because i'm not saying this
[00:59:08] is true or not but i think you can look at it from the perspective of was unable to strategize and out
[00:59:13] outwit relatively other people um is that more impressive than someone who was didn't win a single
[00:59:20] immunity challenge but was able to integrate themselves into different alliances and be brought in on
[00:59:25] strategy i don't think you could be one-dimensional and win the game i don't think you could just be
[00:59:30] like great at challenges and win the game and we've seen it what wasn't it like culpepper didn't
[00:59:34] he win like a bunch of challenges and not win or something in rachel's case like she she found stuff
[00:59:40] she she made made things happen right but uh but yeah i i don't think one-dimensional players can win
[00:59:48] or yeah i'm very much on the anti-challenge train of if you if you have to win all these challenges
[00:59:58] then like clearly you're not in a very good social spot in the game and like and if you don't have
[01:00:02] to win all i guess when i respect them the most then that's kind of what rachel had to do though
[01:00:07] kind of but it's like at that point when she has to do it late uh it's like the final six you know
[01:00:13] i can respect that a little bit more but if you're doing it early on then it's just like
[01:00:16] all right like if you win them at the end and you're the biggest threat and that gets you to the
[01:00:20] end i can respect it kind of like what nick wilson did with david versus goliath like he wasn't a
[01:00:25] challenge piece but at the end he got in the right spot one out the thing to me is using those challenge
[01:00:31] wins to if i was a juror the thing that i value the most is having great social relationships and
[01:00:38] utilizing those to have strategic agency and so if you're winning immunity challenge i would actually
[01:00:43] expect you because you're not vulnerable that you should actually have more agency so a lot of times
[01:00:48] there's people that win a lot but aren't really playing the game in any more in a stronger way
[01:00:53] than anybody else so i'm sort of like well if you're winning but you're not utilizing your safety to make
[01:00:58] things happen then you're actually kind of a worse player in my mind i know that might be
[01:01:03] people love a challenge question wait can i can i be uh lauren o'connell and ask y'all a question
[01:01:09] because i love the question i know i'm so interested no no wait so in that same line of thought can i
[01:01:15] ask y'all what y'all think about mike holloway's win because i felt like mike holloway is a winner that i
[01:01:22] feel like and i don't want to say one dimensional but i want to say like i feel like mike holloway
[01:01:28] won his way to a million dollars what season was that correct that was like season world apart
[01:01:36] worlds apart so that was like season 20 31 or 30 right right right right right brought mike holloway
[01:01:44] up last night yeah andy and rachel were saying that his win was not very good and i would tend to
[01:01:51] agree like i think mama c was a better survivor player than mike holloway i'm gonna go well
[01:01:57] that's the goal of like oh winning all these challenges like some people are impressed by
[01:02:03] that but i think especially in the new era i would guess the thinking like i would i think mama c would
[01:02:08] probably win that final three more in the new era than yeah baby yeah baby especially season 30 there
[01:02:16] was some some characters especially you know like literally one of the tribes blue collar they're gonna
[01:02:22] they're gonna respect mike just winning his way right but um in the in the like i think now that
[01:02:28] would be valued a little bit less because he was also just messy right can i um can we talk about some
[01:02:34] emotional points of this episode so there are two things that stuck with me uh and well i guess i'll go
[01:02:41] with rachel first but make sure i get back to my second other emotional one there was something about
[01:02:46] rachel bringing up chrissy hoffman kim y'all know i say the names wrong because i was about to say
[01:02:54] kim stradlin and her naming these trailblazing women leaders and survivor that i just even though i
[01:03:08] can't say they last names correctly i loved and i respect and it's like you know not only has rachel
[01:03:15] played an amazing man an amazing game she knows her history she knows like the trailblazing ladies
[01:03:23] that have come before her what were your thoughts on her bringing that up in this last episode i mean
[01:03:32] it's cool to be a part of history um what interested me and not to spin your your question too was
[01:03:39] jeff was also really hyping her up for that which i'm curious it's a very small question but i'm sort of
[01:03:46] like obviously you want to give someone their flowers for being in the record books but at the
[01:03:51] same time was jeff just like kind of hyping her up too much right if i'm sam and i'm sitting there i'm
[01:03:57] like jeff chill with this like don't don't give her too much credit yeah is he still remains he
[01:04:04] remaining neutral exactly exactly yeah it's like yeah what you think lauren i love any time that
[01:04:14] we get to reference female survivor players that have done something so incredible because
[01:04:21] having never won an immunity challenge in my life can confirm that they are difficult
[01:04:29] never want to puzzle like they're hard and i think that the fact that she can win four
[01:04:35] is right four right is such a huge feat and i think that it deserves to be celebrated i see what
[01:04:43] you're saying jack and was he hyping her up too much maybe but when was the last person that did that
[01:04:52] yeah how many seasons was that ago i mean it was a long time and so i just think it's like to have
[01:05:00] a female player when four immunity challenges is it's a huge deal and i think that have and you're
[01:05:10] exhausted you're tired and i think that there is an emotional an emotional strain of being on the
[01:05:16] bottom having to fight your way to every single day that she was also wearing mentally emotionally
[01:05:22] physically as well that goes into those wins being even more impressive um i love a flashback famously
[01:05:29] um and i think that anytime a survivor player shows us that they're a fan of the game and that they
[01:05:36] love the game and that they like you said know their history it makes to me it makes you feel like
[01:05:43] yeah this is a family like yeah these people love this show as much as i do yeah i do remember when
[01:05:48] that happened and i also think i don't think she was thinking about this but i do think the editors
[01:05:53] were when they did it i think they were allowing us to connect emotionally and look at rachel like
[01:06:02] we looked at those three women and be like oh man those three women were badass immediately you're
[01:06:08] thinking oh well rachel is too you put her in that same bucket so i think that there was some strategic
[01:06:12] production from that not that it wasn't warranted i just think that i loved it so yeah i loved it too
[01:06:19] i'm just waiting for the day that uh somebody referenced me and i can get a flashback uh just you know
[01:06:26] that would make that would make my day however uh i'm not to my second emotional point yet but i do just
[01:06:31] also want to say that um you know i was talking to someone at one of our parties and they were like oh
[01:06:37] you're old school bryce i said don't disrespect your grandmother's mother like that i am not old
[01:06:44] school i am considered new school so we can be clear there are 47 seasons of survivor i want to say
[01:06:51] that one through 25 is considered old school 26 through 40 is considered new school and now we're
[01:07:02] in the new era just so we can clear that up to somebody um however i just i i really do love the
[01:07:08] new era because i think that our diversity initiative that we helped spearhead uh really
[01:07:15] has been shining and when i got to thinking a little bit like there's been such a long time
[01:07:22] a survivor where there have been a man a man a man a man a man a man a man winner then we get a woman
[01:07:31] winner for us to have three seasons and three great seasons in my opinion back to back and to have a d
[01:07:38] to have a kenzie and to have a rachel winner winners back to back it just really makes me
[01:07:45] love the new era and i think that like i just love it i think i think i'm sorry to cut you off i think
[01:07:55] tegwith might have came to us last night and said it's like a renaissance um this this like new
[01:08:00] i guess the new era is kind of like a renaissance and we're getting like a different style of winner
[01:08:07] we're getting a lot of women winners it's great to see and like i think it's great for them to
[01:08:12] celebrate like especially a rachel who is she played a tough game like a great game and won all
[01:08:19] them challenges and for them to compare her to like a kim spradlin like reminding us that we just
[01:08:28] we just saw someone that should be on that echelon of win of game i think i think the new era is really
[01:08:35] cool because we've seen so many different new winners to your point i agree how much of us having
[01:08:43] three winners in a row do you think is indicative of the social climate because i would say that survivor
[01:08:50] does tend to be this kind of look into what's going on in the real world right that's the whole
[01:08:57] idea of the game and so i would say historically women are viewed as providers we're viewed as
[01:09:08] nurturers we have been viewed as softer than men so when we take on a role that is more masculine
[01:09:16] when we take on a role that's more masculine it can be viewed as a threat not as something that is
[01:09:24] uh praised and could be why women in the past may have played a similar game to women now but have not
[01:09:33] gotten the reaction that we may have looking back on it thought they deserved um versus now we have
[01:09:42] women who maybe are taking on that kind of i'm going to attack this game i'm going to i'm not going to
[01:09:48] sit back not that you know women do but just in general they're going to play that more
[01:09:52] aggressive game and they are rewarded for it i think that that's a very good comment i also think
[01:09:58] that equity comes into play right i think that when you look at past seasons you have to think of
[01:10:04] the different makeups of the different people that have played the game and i think that now that we
[01:10:08] get a more diverse season uh with diversity comes different things of people's backgrounds and people's
[01:10:15] values and how people see other people and i think that that plays a huge part into where we are today
[01:10:21] and why we are seeing more women winners because it's uh when you cast the same same same same same
[01:10:29] you get similar results but when you cast different people with different value system different
[01:10:37] classes different everything uh it's not the standard belief of what people think society is
[01:10:50] yeah right you're right and you and you'll have different outcomes with different input inputs come
[01:10:54] different outcomes and what what i thought was really cool this season and like i guess we're in
[01:10:59] the era where you could see these like badass women competing and getting respect for playing hard games
[01:11:05] like um like when i when i think of a like a badass female player i think of like sarah lacina
[01:11:13] she was like so strong so tough so harsh like she is one of the goats of course and um this season we saw
[01:11:24] genevieve and we saw rachel and these were like the two strongest players on the island and i'm like man
[01:11:31] i would love to see both of them at the end but just watching these two women and like that are the
[01:11:38] strongest players on the island but then also how i think we watched genevieve babysitting rachel while
[01:11:46] she was looking for an idol or vice versa or something like that and now that we're watching these two
[01:11:50] unique players do it it's different than a rome and a saul because like you know rome was almost like
[01:11:57] bully and saul but in this case watching two women do it is a little different because it's like they're
[01:12:04] they're almost joking with each other they have this mutual respect for each other but they're the
[01:12:10] best players and the like i guess like the most vicious players remaining in the game and i think
[01:12:16] for the edit to portray it that way i i think it's good i think it's pretty progressive because now
[01:12:21] we're seeing and we're giving flowers to these women who like you said historically it's like oh they
[01:12:28] should have a different role in the game or should play a softer game or whatever no this is survivor
[01:12:33] everyone should compete hard and whether you're a woman or a man competing hard you should be able
[01:12:38] you should just be judged for how you're competing so i like i like that direction of the game and i like
[01:12:45] that women can go out there and unapologetically just play hard and get rewarded for that as opposed
[01:12:52] to looked at as whatever kind of a woman you know something that i'm really curious to see as we go forward
[01:13:01] is how right i think the new modern archetype of the winner of survivor has shifted right i mean five
[01:13:08] of the seven new era winners have been women uh i'd say four of those played a very sort of a little bit
[01:13:15] more stealthy social strategic game uh whereas in in the 30s we had a string of winners it was
[01:13:22] ben wendell nick uh chris tommy kind of a similar archetype right and so now i feel like we see
[01:13:30] maybe like someone like sam who might not be doing it like at certain points post-merge wasn't in the
[01:13:38] driver's seat yet was still seen as a threat i think sort of as a after effect of that sort of
[01:13:44] string of winners so now it's like when you have a d you think sam is being punished for that
[01:13:48] i don't think punished but i think subconsciously people subconsciously view like think about
[01:13:53] historically a big sort of charismatic alpha guy is the kind of win survivor but now it's like okay
[01:14:01] you look at the string of like d kenzie rachel now if i go out there i'm not going to be scared of a
[01:14:07] sam i'm going to be scared of like that really sharp intelligent lower key sort of woman so i wonder
[01:14:13] going forward if are people now going to view that archetype and be like that's the biggest threat
[01:14:18] and then maybe we're back in a world where like the brawny guys are like oh that's what i meant
[01:14:24] yeah that's what i meant or will we be in a world where the gays take over right because can we get some
[01:14:32] gay back-to-back winners and it and that's a great point jack but it also brings me to my next emotional
[01:14:38] point that i just want to bring up i want to talk about teeny for a second right because i feel like
[01:14:45] teeny has been y'all the way y'all been treating teeny on the internet f y'all because one teeny
[01:14:51] like i just feel like people have i think people went from loving teeny was so
[01:14:58] like love they're amazing yeah and i also feel like maybe people haven't understood their ending right
[01:15:05] and i think that like they don't agree with some of like teeny's takes but i just i i have to say that
[01:15:11] um teeny being uh a member of the lgbtq plus community uh someone that is like we said earlier lauren
[01:15:19] they're young they're still growing they're figuring out their identity they're a baby in my eyes right and
[01:15:26] me as a still very young young gay black man that has had to figure out my identity in this world in
[01:15:36] my place right teeny that's on their own journey of figuring out their identity and being out there
[01:15:43] with someone that might trigger you personally um it's self-awareness right able to say that right
[01:15:54] i was just so impressed and i met teeny last night just immediately exactly the way that
[01:16:02] they are portrayed on the screen is just exactly how they were towards me just so loving so open but
[01:16:08] to be able to say that with the to be to be able to articulate that concisely so authentically
[01:16:19] on day whatever day it was at 23 so freaking impressive regardless of anything else that
[01:16:28] happened on the show i think i couldn't agree more and it's like i just for me i just love it and just
[01:16:35] seeing that be a part of survivor that i know can affect so many other people's life i just love it and
[01:16:42] i know that the diehard survivors oh i don't understand why they don't like a salmon doesn't like but
[01:16:48] that is teeny's lived experience and i appreciate teeny for being so open and honest and i appreciate
[01:16:54] the editors for sharing that because i felt like i can't relate however i can relate in my own situation
[01:17:02] and i my own life and i i just was it was really good to see that on survivor so much love to be me
[01:17:08] the part where they said he was the guy that was asked to move the desks and i always wanted to do that
[01:17:14] the story the storytelling there the vision there just i was so so so so so impressed with them
[01:17:22] in that in this episode because of the self-awareness and because of the authenticity and the vulnerability
[01:17:28] i was like oh my yeah he probably was asked to move the desks we should have other people to move the
[01:17:34] desks now like what the heck it just it makes you rally behind them it really does because it's like
[01:17:41] don't ask me okay i don't want to move the desks i personally don't want to have to do any physical
[01:17:46] labor but like if you want to i'm here for you you do that and so i just feel like that wasn't
[01:17:54] sometimes people don't focus on things like that and that might have been very small to someone else
[01:17:58] uh but i think that that was huge uh for our community and at large and so i was just very
[01:18:06] appreciative to have a teeny storyline and although i might not agree with all their moves i think for
[01:18:12] me putting myself in their place i'm like i get you and i see you yeah i mean just in general it's it's
[01:18:19] very like you guys have the self-awareness to just be like maybe i'm not having a great relationship
[01:18:24] with this person but it's all these things from my past that are maybe influencing that it's not
[01:18:28] their fault but it's just like things i need to work on i think anyone can relate to that just in
[01:18:33] their own personal life of you know being self-aware and and using that in your relationship
[01:18:39] so that was very impressive and yeah the metaphor the analogy with the desks was also hilarious
[01:18:44] i mean we we just need to get teeny like a construction job and just let teeny like go swing a sledgehammer
[01:18:51] and with as many desks as you want yeah i think everybody wins like teeny will be happy and
[01:18:58] some houses will get built
[01:19:02] yes but ultimately uh can't well and i guess here's another thing shout out to sue right
[01:19:09] i think that sue played a great game right maybe it wasn't a winning game and i've said this multiple
[01:19:18] times on this podcast that like in the survivor community we place too much emphasis on the
[01:19:25] winner right like because that's all that matters sometimes on a season all you talk about is the
[01:19:30] winner but i personally feel like i feel like we should never talk about the winners i mean i just
[01:19:36] i don't know because the people voted out on day nine and the people voted out
[01:19:40] like may 5th should probably be talked about more i mean okay because dominic abate dominic
[01:19:46] abate isn't talked about enough for me but that's just you know whatever however i really do feel
[01:19:53] that like sometimes the third no actually i take back ever saying that i feel bad because you literally
[01:19:58] have an entire montage of your face behind you i don't know i will i will legitimately pile this on
[01:20:03] as much as i want well i mean here's the thing you're you're ragging on wendell but you know we
[01:20:12] all know he was rooting for his wifey sue to take on the million bucks so if there's anyone who's
[01:20:18] more upset it's wendell and so i just want to say if you make it to the end you make it to the merge
[01:20:25] like in some people's eyes that is winning and i feel like sue played a loyal game sue you you cross
[01:20:32] sue she hated you and she was going to do her best to get you out and i respect stuff like that because
[01:20:38] it's just like you got you got one time with me well here's the thing when sue comes back for 50
[01:20:43] everyone's going to know how loyal sue is and that's going to allow sue to actually mix it up a little
[01:20:47] bit more and take on the two million so jack the real question is when sue comes back for 50
[01:20:53] and they do the loved ones visit will wendell be there too is our window are you going out for the
[01:21:00] loved one visit with sue we already had that conversation they don't do the loved ones visit anymore
[01:21:05] though right they're going to do it for 50 you're right yeah all right so i got how long do i got to
[01:21:11] start dating somewhere on 50 i'm trying to make an appearance jack you're single right i don't think
[01:21:20] i'm gonna be on 50 though
[01:21:25] we'll see um guys what do we think about sue's final travel council i mean she was dropping bombs
[01:21:32] left and right it was her birthday and she's 59 how did she tell me if she had told me it was her
[01:21:37] birthday and i was on that jury i would have given her my vote i love a birthday yeah i think i was
[01:21:42] if i'm being honest because i try to keep it real on the survivor news purple pants podcast i was shocked
[01:21:48] to see caroline didn't vote for rachel i just knew caroline would vote for rachel wait caroline
[01:21:58] i was like i was like i just knew caroline would vote for sue i was that that shocked me a little
[01:22:07] bit so how much do you really think that loyalty is valued by the jury at the end of the day it's true
[01:22:16] that's because i i don't know i haven't flushed it out in my head exactly how i feel about it but
[01:22:22] i think that you will get more respect for making the big move that might that turns against your
[01:22:30] alliance versus staying with your alliance at your own demise yeah whether or not you're sitting at
[01:22:36] the end or not sure do you vote unless you get a really special jury i don't know do you vote for
[01:22:43] your do you vote for the best player the player who played the best game or do you vote for your
[01:22:47] friend you get to vote for whoever you want exactly i that was my dilemma on winners at war
[01:22:53] i was like i was like michelle is sitting right there and she's my friend tony is the best sitting
[01:23:00] there and then like with the whole discourse on like the edge of extinction and then back at uh
[01:23:06] at ponderosa like people weren't completely sharing who they were voting for and i had like i had my
[01:23:13] little crew we were ready to vote for michelle to make sure she got second and then you yeah you
[01:23:19] didn't know if natalie to lose so i'm like i gotta vote for tony because he is who'd you and did you
[01:23:26] vote for tony yeah i had yeah i was like and i think in my voting confessional i wrote down i wrote his
[01:23:31] name down and i like said like hey michelle if you weren't sitting next to tony right now you would have
[01:23:35] my vote yeah it's like not to not even it's sort of like american politics where you might want to
[01:23:42] vote for a third party candidate but you're like well they might not be able to win so i gotta make
[01:23:47] sure my vote counts yeah i don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing but um but to that point
[01:23:53] i want to um part of me i wonder it seems like kyle maybe voted for sam just to spite sue and make sure
[01:23:59] she was third and not second so kyle big revenge from kyle do you think the majority of jurors vote
[01:24:07] for the best player actually i have a different take on that how much of the jury's vote or a juror's vote
[01:24:16] do you think is based on their personal experience and who they feel like game qualifies their own
[01:24:26] the best and the reason i say that is from my season i think that in order for my jurors to have voted for
[01:24:37] gavin they would have felt and i'm not saying this is true or not but i think it's possible that if
[01:24:44] they had voted for gavin who had never been on the edge of extinction yeah that it would have invalidated
[01:24:50] their entire game because they would have been saying regardless of what chris has done he didn't
[01:24:56] he did not play the game whatever you want to to say he did not play the game and therefore
[01:25:02] in turn they didn't play the game either yeah agree yeah because if when chris gets back and he
[01:25:09] does everything right from that point on if you then if you were on the edge of extinction and then
[01:25:14] don't vote for him then you're sort of saying well if i had come back and done everything right then i
[01:25:19] wouldn't it doesn't matter because your case is very unique but i do no i know i know but i think that
[01:25:25] it can i think that it applies to a lot of seasons as well is that you're sitting there as a juror
[01:25:31] whosever game resonates with you the most and i think that that oftentimes is based on your own
[01:25:36] personal experience and your own personal values like if someone was sitting on the jurors who
[01:25:41] was like i was loyal to my alliance till the death i would have died for my alliance i think they would
[01:25:46] have valued sue's final tribal council speech i think that there's a possibility i'm not saying all the
[01:25:51] time but there's a possibility that you take your own personal biases your own value of what you think
[01:25:56] matters the most in order to maybe subconsciously validate your own game most definitely do you think
[01:26:03] if when you get voted off you're sequestered like we were sequestered in the beginning of the season
[01:26:09] and we only sat at like we could see the tribals but we were sequestered and we only got to speak at that
[01:26:18] final tribal council do you think that a lot of winners would be different i don't know if the
[01:26:24] so i don't necessarily know if the winners would be different but i do think there would be a much
[01:26:29] wider spread of votes like much fewer near unanimous votes right because i think there's a lot of
[01:26:36] groupthink that occurs at ponderosa i don't necessarily think that's a bad thing because you're
[01:26:41] listening to other people's arguments as to why so who should win and you're taking other opinions
[01:26:46] into account and then people sort of sort of started to come to a consensus um but at the same time it's
[01:26:52] sort of it's like i i'm sure a lot of jurors still kind of have their their mind in the game
[01:26:57] almost of like i want to be in the majority here right like if i think there's a almost a stigma of
[01:27:02] like if i don't vote for the winner i'm gonna look like i made a wrong decision when in reality
[01:27:07] it's like just vote for who you ever want to that's kind of like i respect like james jones for
[01:27:11] instance voted for cassie you should have won and like he wasn't in the majority but he had his own
[01:27:17] criteria and stuck to it last last lauren question do you think that the jurors first of all
[01:27:25] shout out to lauren because now you got me thinking all these crazy like i love this do y'all think
[01:27:32] and i've never really thought about this like in that same topic of being on the right side of the
[01:27:38] votes do you think jurors think that way too even with their final vote well how much uh how much
[01:27:44] conversation was happening for you and all during when is it war for like before your final vote how
[01:27:51] much were the jurors talking to each other because in order to answer your question right i think and i
[01:27:57] i feel like i can't give a full answer because my jurors were hanging out together on edge of extinction
[01:28:03] for 30 days or whatever it was and then i was only there for a day wait so you wait so you was only
[01:28:10] there for a day i was only there for a day how do you know day and a half two days how long was because
[01:28:17] i know because that's a great question i'm trying to figure out but how long was wendell um how long
[01:28:22] was he there with no no because i'm just trying to know when he got there he was a million dollars
[01:28:26] richer than me though so now let me oh shoot now i'm seeing the montage behind his head i take it back
[01:28:34] okay so it's crazy because i got there um to the edge of extinction with these beautiful people
[01:28:43] i got there um after the merge and that's crazy because bryce doesn't even know what a merge is
[01:28:49] but so after the merge i went to the edge of extinction i was there for like i've never been there
[01:28:53] yeah
[01:29:01] you pulled a picture of yourself off your wall you knew it was coming
[01:29:08] so after the merge i got to the exit of extinction i was there for like two weeks and that was me on
[01:29:14] an island for like two weeks it's crazy because bryce wasn't even on the island for two weeks so i was
[01:29:18] on the edge of extinction for longer than he was on the island and i was riding elephants back
[01:29:24] in the philippines okay i was drinking margaritas in manila okay i was enjoying myself i'm gonna be so
[01:29:32] honest i forgot that you guys said edge of extinction on your on your season so um maybe my question isn't
[01:29:37] valid as yeah so on so yeah on winners at war um we're on the edge until like three days before
[01:29:46] yeah the end of the game and so so when we got back to on the rosa there were some talks but then like
[01:29:53] again a lot of these damn winners they wouldn't share like certain people wouldn't share stuff
[01:29:58] and so now it's just like all right you guys got so i don't know if y'all got side deals or what
[01:30:05] y'all got but yeah were you trying to get stuff out of people though i mean my roommates are
[01:30:11] jeremy and tyson and they weren't talking to you wendell said wendell said who you guys think about
[01:30:23] voting for and jeremy said don't worry about it a little bro they blame me
[01:30:33] it's the stuff that you reveal when you don't need to reveal it oh my god
[01:30:39] a quick take on on uh winners at war because it was a conversation that i had with a few people
[01:30:47] because i i i feel like that there's a possibility that our juror voted for chris because they experienced
[01:30:52] they had the same experience that chris did right so they saw chris's game versus like i didn't vote
[01:30:56] for chris i voted for gavin because i saw gavin's game right not discrediting chris's win whatsoever
[01:30:59] it's just personally that's what i saw so we had the conversation on whether or not y'all would vote
[01:31:04] vote for natalie um because you saw her game you experienced edge of extinction and i think that
[01:31:09] the difference is that you all had played the game before and you knew what it took to actually get to
[01:31:16] day 39 or whatever um and how hard it is to mentally and emotionally and physically get up every
[01:31:24] day i'm not saying i didn't experience the edge so i don't know but in general like you you guys knew
[01:31:29] you experienced it you knew how hard it was to get to day 39 and you respected that just as much as
[01:31:35] you know natalie's freaking badass right like so cool but i think that there's a level of you guys
[01:31:39] having already played that you respected tony's win and and that ability to stay in the game before he
[01:31:45] answers that lauren though because let's paint the picture because maybe there is a reason why
[01:31:50] wendell voted for the way that he did vote in that win back challenge where natalie won
[01:31:57] who was she playing against i don't remember was it when oh yeah
[01:32:02] oh that was the mayor of edge of extinction because she got there on day one she's building up this war
[01:32:12] chest of these things and all these people edge of extinction on on winners at war rewarded people
[01:32:18] that were voted there early which means if you made it further in the game you get sent to the edge
[01:32:23] you might not know that you're able to send stuff over and you're winning the idol when you came back in
[01:32:30] what's that did they get an idol when they came back into the game i don't know i don't know they
[01:32:35] take that away
[01:32:39] yeah
[01:32:42] all kinds of like i i thought the edge of extinction was like you know by the time i got there after the
[01:32:49] merge i thought the edge of extinction was just like nothing you know you're just in purgatory
[01:32:54] but in actuality people that have been there since day one are finding things and getting this
[01:33:00] and yeah developing this war chest that will then help them in the win back challenge or whatever
[01:33:06] challenge too right yeah yeah yeah so yeah she had a few i think i got one advantage but anyway
[01:33:13] in the win back challenge natalie won she got back to your point though lauren i mean this is more
[01:33:20] directed at wendell but i agree with you it's like natalie got what four jury votes michelle got none
[01:33:25] even though natalie was the first person voted out i'm sure some of those votes were from people that
[01:33:30] were on the edge that felt like experience validated theirs more than michelle's did and i think the
[01:33:36] reason that tony won that you said is is probably i mean not only did tony play an awesome game but
[01:33:42] like the jurors having been winners understood it more but i think your question is very good
[01:33:47] compared to like edge of extinction your season is like that's that same mentality i'm sure was
[01:33:52] a factor in winners at war the edge is so flawed because you're literally on another island
[01:34:01] jury tampering it's like you are with the people that will yeah more than a million dollars so yeah
[01:34:08] they have the similar lived experience as you whoever gets back in the game is like their
[01:34:14] representative almost and you could have been the sole provider providing all the fish and making
[01:34:21] fire you could just sit there and be super nice to them because you're not really playing the game
[01:34:26] there you're just chilling yeah but does that not then knowing what you know now right like does that
[01:34:32] isn't that the point of the game though like because then it's like why would you send who
[01:34:37] like would that change who you send to the edge of extinction you gotta know the edge of extinction
[01:34:42] and exists well i feel like at winners at war didn't you you know you knew going in right so so that's
[01:34:50] what i'm saying for winners at war like don't you think that that would then change who you send
[01:34:54] there for that very reason but what do you do keep the people that you want out in the game and risk
[01:35:00] them never getting voted out yeah i don't know yeah so you probably at least make it harder for
[01:35:07] them to sit at the end with you don't you think i mean uh but true yeah also i mean you guys are
[01:35:13] like if you're on the edge of extinction with someone for 30 days and you don't even have to
[01:35:18] like be cutthroat you could just sit there and bond by the end of the 30 days i'll be like well chris
[01:35:24] is my boy now so i'm gonna vote for him to win a million like i don't even know
[01:35:27] like of course i'm gonna vote for my boy um yeah that's not true though because
[01:35:33] when i was out there with tyson and jeremy for how long and they got back to the end i bet you
[01:35:40] wendell votes for it well i mean that is true but needless to say shout out to our girl rachel
[01:35:51] because she did the damn thing she played an amazing game it's truly been such a fun season
[01:35:57] to watch her to see her with her back against the wall for her to make these game-changing moves for
[01:36:03] her to do the things that she did uh i just want to say congratulations to rachel it's it's been a
[01:36:09] fun season part of it being so fun is that we've had amazing characters to watch all season i e rome
[01:36:17] i e asia i e annika i e sierra saw like so many like the season has been so amazing and so for it to be
[01:36:30] sue sue hey what god you but you better talk about your girlfriend you should go when you go home
[01:36:36] right now clock band t lauren but fun you should invite me more often look girl always and forever
[01:36:45] but any final words on the season yeah right before we before we go not to keep us i quickly want to
[01:36:51] ask each of you where do you rank 47 in the new era and where do you rank rachel as a winner
[01:36:58] in the new era one and one well actually i don't i don't know because i i rank this season one
[01:37:08] because i think the season for me personally i loved it however amongst the winners i rank rachel
[01:37:16] amongst jam amongst d like i think of jam d rachel that's that that's where i put her in that order
[01:37:25] no i just they in a group together now he asked what yeah i know what he asked i gave him a group
[01:37:33] no he said what place do you put her in i put i put season 47 at the top and i rank rachel among
[01:37:43] winners like d and like jam and what would you rank her among among them she is in the top
[01:37:56] upper echelon because listen i love i love jam's win i thought d's win was impressive i thought
[01:38:03] rachel's win was impressive i didn't make the merge i didn't make the merge so i can't speak on it
[01:38:09] i did not i didn't make the merge so i can't speak on my motto is underqualified over opinionated baby
[01:38:16] go ahead you can go right at it listen i think rachel played top tier like i love rachel like i feel like
[01:38:28] if we were at an airport i would have tsa rachel got global entry okay like she's like she's just
[01:38:36] she's above me she got rachel killed it like i i think i okay you want me to go on record i think
[01:38:43] rachel is one of the the best winners of the new era that's what you just said you just you just
[01:38:51] went on the record and said it okay so listen let's play a game let's play a game we're in a room
[01:38:57] lauren and jack you're tyson wendell you're jeremy i'm wendell okay let's not talk no more okay
[01:39:09] you know what i'll save you i'll save you because what i'm about to say is going to make you look great
[01:39:12] um of the all new era seasons that i have watched which is two um i rank her top two
[01:39:24] number one for sure what was the other season oh sorry you keep cutting out i can't i can't oh
[01:39:32] oh god it's it's static i can't i can't hear you no um y'all gonna let her slide
[01:39:38] oh y'all gonna let her slide i said two full seasons two full seasons okay all right jack
[01:39:49] what here go jack jack about the hate
[01:39:53] answer but now i can't so i'm gonna say two and two
[01:39:59] well who's one right i would say i would say 45 indeed are my are one for me i was gonna say 45 46 47
[01:40:06] all very close for me i think d is probably the best winner but i would say too i think rachel's
[01:40:13] blueprint for her game is probably better than d's but i think d just had a little bit of that extra
[01:40:19] like x factor that that brought her to the win like her connections were just a little bit stronger with
[01:40:24] people yeah she had an alliance she had a squad yeah and rachel did it and so that's why i'm like i
[01:40:31] think rachel but i ain't mad though but but in order for d to have that type of squad you had to
[01:40:36] build those type of relationships and that's what i was saying earlier that's what i was saying earlier
[01:40:42] what do you value more the people that were in charge and had that strategy strategy and were
[01:40:46] able to integrate themselves into relationships and alliances or the person who was on the bottom
[01:40:50] and had to fight their way to the end i'm not saying either is better than the other but i think that's
[01:40:54] two different ways to play the game uh jeremy lauren and tyson jack can y'all please speak to
[01:41:01] wendell and ask him the same question thank you i can't wait it's gonna be good yeah wendell um so
[01:41:10] we've been letting you like hang out with us for a while so we're just curious if you can tell us
[01:41:15] like where do you rank rachel told me i could only come on the podcast if i let you come with me
[01:41:20] all right okay well my other half is only on one of the seasons so i'm gonna have to say the greatest
[01:41:31] season of the new era is gonna have to be season 47 and the greatest winner of the new era
[01:41:41] whoo i'll say the top three are gonna have to be
[01:41:46] the same three that bryce said rachel jam and d are the top three winners
[01:41:53] did you want to uh you want to rank those or
[01:41:57] because you were just young for not for not ranking them now okay okay okay okay yeah okay no let me
[01:42:03] never mind oh i was about to be messy i don't have a take
[01:42:11] okay so if you're
[01:42:13] oh
[01:42:21] i will throw my computer out of all of those three winners
[01:42:28] who gets the coveted
[01:42:30] who who gets out of all of those three winners who gets the covet who's coming out here loved ones
[01:42:37] visit survivor news winners bracelet out of those three winners hey hey lauren i love this podcast
