[00:01:11] So I'm so excited to be back for some play by play. I am joined by Survivor 46's Jelinski, and we are going down the roster talking about Alonzo Ball hurt again.

[00:01:25] My man, my man, LaMelo Ball was fined $100,000.

[00:01:29] Bronny and the G League and his stats.

[00:01:34] Kayan Anthony commits to Syracuse.

[00:01:36] Jared McCain is cooking for the 76ers.

[00:01:40] Tyrese Maxey and Joel, their beef.

[00:01:44] The NFL versus the NBA.

[00:01:47] Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

[00:01:49] This and so much more.

[00:01:50] So let's get in to this week's play by play.

[00:01:59] It's a Purple Pants play by play.

[00:02:02] I'm shooting three for every day.

[00:02:04] And it can get feel full A-OK.

[00:02:06] It's a Purple Pants play by play.

[00:02:11] What's going on?

[00:02:12] We're back this month with your Purple Pants Podcast play by play.

[00:02:16] And we had to bring another legend, another GOAT back to help me discuss some of these sports topics.

[00:02:22] Because, you know, I don't really know too much, but I know someone that does know.

[00:02:26] Welcome back to the podcast, Survivor 46.

[00:02:28] Jelinski, what's going on?

[00:02:30] What's good, Bryce?

[00:02:32] I'm happy to be here as always.

[00:02:33] Thank you for having me.

[00:02:35] Life is good, man.

[00:02:36] What can I say?

[00:02:37] It's a blessing to even be alive.

[00:02:40] Yeah, ever since our last play by play, I feel like every time I see some sports topics, I'm sending it to you.

[00:02:46] And your response time is like three to four days later.

[00:02:50] So, you know, I'm happy with it.

[00:02:54] Man, it's hard.

[00:02:56] Like, work and sleep.

[00:02:58] And, you know, I try to get my sleep at least 12 hours a night.

[00:03:01] Like, LeBron.

[00:03:02] You know, that's funny.

[00:03:03] So, people, I just found out LeBron sleeps at least 12 hours every single night.

[00:03:10] Isn't that crazy?

[00:03:12] That's absolutely crazy.

[00:03:13] But it sounds magical because I'm, I'd be working on like three and a half hours.

[00:03:19] So, 12 sounds great.

[00:03:21] Do you really try to sleep 12 hours?

[00:03:23] I really do.

[00:03:24] Like, minimum for me is eight hours.

[00:03:26] So, if I don't get at least eight hours of sleep, like, I'm cooked.

[00:03:30] But, I mean, there must be some truth to that magic because, I mean, look at LeBron.

[00:03:34] He's, I was watching the Lakers game last night and he was the only one performing.

[00:03:38] And it was a hard watch.

[00:03:39] But, that's why he's so great at what he does.

[00:03:42] He dunked last night, right?

[00:03:45] Oh, yeah.

[00:03:45] He stole the ball and dunked.

[00:03:46] But, it didn't seem like the Lakers was too hyped for him, though.

[00:03:49] Like, I'm like, where is that?

[00:03:49] And especially, it's a weird locker room, that locker room.

[00:03:52] They've been on a good, good little tear this season, though.

[00:03:55] But, Anthony Davis, that's my guy right there.

[00:03:58] And he was not performing last night.

[00:04:00] It was bad.

[00:04:00] Especially against Nikola Jokic, the Joker.

[00:04:04] He had him on lock, which is not good.

[00:04:06] But, hopefully we can turn it around, Los Angeles Lakers.

[00:04:10] Hopefully.

[00:04:11] You just celebrated a birthday, right?

[00:04:13] I did.

[00:04:14] It's my LeBron slash Jordan year.

[00:04:18] Did you do anything special fun for your birthday?

[00:04:22] Yeah.

[00:04:22] Me and my girl, we went to Arizona.

[00:04:26] And she booked an Airbnb.

[00:04:28] She didn't tell me where we were going.

[00:04:29] So, we went to Flagstaff.

[00:04:31] It's kind of just like an old town, like, college-y vibe.

[00:04:34] And it was just real cool, like, exploring the city.

[00:04:37] And then we stopped at the Grand Canyon on the way back.

[00:04:40] And, you know, it's right by me.

[00:04:42] So, I had never been my entire life.

[00:04:44] So, I went there and I was like, wow.

[00:04:47] Like, it really is beautiful.

[00:04:50] Yeah.

[00:04:50] I've never been.

[00:04:51] I've been trying to plan a trip for, like, the last two years.

[00:04:54] And they have these, like, I don't know if they're donkey or camel rides that you can take down into the canyon.

[00:05:00] Yeah.

[00:05:00] And so, that's definitely on my bucket list.

[00:05:03] Yeah.

[00:05:04] We didn't do all that.

[00:05:05] But she told me about that, too.

[00:05:07] And I was like, I would not mind doing that.

[00:05:09] Because, you know, it was really cool just seeing it from up above.

[00:05:13] But, like, going down there, I think that's something I'd be even more interested in doing.

[00:05:17] Yeah.

[00:05:18] And definitely if.

[00:05:20] Feel it and all that.

[00:05:20] Right.

[00:05:21] Yeah.

[00:05:21] It looks crazy.

[00:05:22] So, that's my bucket list.

[00:05:24] So, I will keep you posted.

[00:05:25] Please do.

[00:05:26] How are you doing, Bryce?

[00:05:27] What's good with you?

[00:05:28] I'm chilling, you know, on this Bryson Wintour 47.

[00:05:31] We've got four stops left.

[00:05:33] I am counting down the days until I could just work a full work week and not have to travel.

[00:05:39] But I've been chilling.

[00:05:41] The holidays are here.

[00:05:43] So, I'm trying to start my Christmas shopping.

[00:05:45] Are you doing anything for Thanksgiving this week?

[00:05:48] Man.

[00:05:48] So, okay.

[00:05:49] Yeah.

[00:05:49] I got, like, three different Thanksgiving's I got to go to.

[00:05:53] Because, like, you know, the families be.

[00:05:55] The families be familying.

[00:05:57] Okay.

[00:05:57] Exactly.

[00:05:58] Exactly.

[00:05:58] So, and one of them, we're going out to eat.

[00:06:01] One of them, we're eating at the house.

[00:06:02] And then the other, we're eating at the house.

[00:06:04] So, it's going to be fun.

[00:06:06] Okay.

[00:06:07] Well, what's on your Christmas list this year?

[00:06:08] What's number one?

[00:06:10] Okay.

[00:06:11] So, I want a new computer.

[00:06:12] So, I've asked my mom, Barb, to, you know, help the baby boy out.

[00:06:18] So, we'll see.

[00:06:19] I'm waiting for Black Friday to send her the link so that she can hopefully bless me with a new computer.

[00:06:25] But nothing too crazy.

[00:06:26] How about you?

[00:06:27] Man, I don't even know.

[00:06:29] So, I just bought 2K25 because that's a necessity.

[00:06:33] It was a Black Friday sale.

[00:06:34] But the thing with PlayStation, they got their Black Friday sale for, like, a month.

[00:06:37] So, I hopped on that.

[00:06:39] Got it real quick for $20.

[00:06:42] It's in BC, which is a necessity in 2K.

[00:06:46] And, yeah.

[00:06:47] So, I don't know what I want for Christmas.

[00:06:49] Maybe a nice pair of Jordans or something.

[00:06:52] Okay.

[00:06:53] What size shoe do you wear, Jalinski?

[00:06:55] I wear a size 12 and a half.

[00:06:57] Okay.

[00:06:58] So, you can still get stuff in the store.

[00:07:00] Yeah.

[00:07:01] Yeah.

[00:07:01] My nephew wears a 15.

[00:07:05] Well, he'll get 15s, but he really is like a 16.

[00:07:08] So, sometimes it's a little bit more when he wants the sneakers that everybody has.

[00:07:13] I'm like, what?

[00:07:14] I would have some trouble sometimes, especially if, like, something's popular.

[00:07:19] Like, they'll be like, oh, they don't have a 12 and a half, 13.

[00:07:22] So, they'll have it like a 10.

[00:07:24] So, I can't even imagine his struggle.

[00:07:26] Like, it must be hard.

[00:07:28] Yeah.

[00:07:29] And his shoes are expensive.

[00:07:31] And since he was like, well, since he's been born, I've always gotten him shoes.

[00:07:34] So, it's like, why did I sign up for this?

[00:07:38] But, you know what else I want for Christmas?

[00:07:42] Or what I think someone wants for Christmas that's on their Christmas list?

[00:07:47] What is it?

[00:07:49] The zaddy calendar?

[00:07:50] Well, not the zaddy calendar.

[00:07:51] I think Lonzo Ball wants to heal up.

[00:07:56] Because at our last play-by-play, we were hyped talking about Lonzo is back the first time in three years.

[00:08:03] He's played.

[00:08:04] He's killing it.

[00:08:05] And then, late in October, the Chicago Bulls announced that, what is it?

[00:08:13] He suffered a sprain, or he suffered a right wrist sprain in the first quarter of the Chicago win over the Memphis.

[00:08:23] He'll be re-evaluated 10 days, which means he is out or was out for at least five games.

[00:08:31] Like, WTF Lonzo!

[00:08:35] Man, this hurts to see, dude.

[00:08:38] And, like, whenever something with Lonzo, like, I don't know if you watch too much football, Bryce, but, like, Christian McCaffrey,

[00:08:44] they were saying, oh, man, he's just, you know, he's warming up.

[00:08:48] He had an injury in the offseason.

[00:08:49] He'll be good to go first game.

[00:08:51] Finally, it's, like, two hours before the first game, and they're like, yeah, he's not playing.

[00:08:56] Lo and behold, he was out for, like, 10 games.

[00:08:59] Wow.

[00:09:00] Which is insane.

[00:09:01] It's kind of like the same trajectory that Lonzo's on.

[00:09:04] It's like all his injuries seem to be a little bit more severe than the organization ever really talks about, you know?

[00:09:11] So, with Lonzo, I'm just scared, man, for his health because I'm such a fan of him,

[00:09:16] especially, like, growing up watching him in high school.

[00:09:19] Like, he was really that guy.

[00:09:20] Like, I really thought he was about to be, like, Lonzo, or no, LeBron Curry hybrid type player.

[00:09:26] Like, something we really haven't seen before.

[00:09:28] So, it just really breaks my heart.

[00:09:31] It worries me because I feel like these last four years, the Bulls have been pretty supportive of Lonzo,

[00:09:37] but it just makes me nervous with injury after injury.

[00:09:41] You're not playing.

[00:09:42] You've got this huge contract.

[00:09:46] I'm sure the Chicago Bulls want to free up some space and, you know, create a team,

[00:09:53] and one of those ways could be freeing up Lonzo.

[00:09:56] So, it just worries me for my guy, Lonzo.

[00:09:59] You're exactly right.

[00:10:00] And, you know, at the end of the day, it's always a business.

[00:10:04] And it's an organization that got to take care of the Chicago Bulls first.

[00:10:08] And Lonzo is making a lot of money.

[00:10:10] So, honestly, from – how do I say this?

[00:10:15] From, like, if I were a betting man, you know, which I am,

[00:10:20] I would bet that Lonzo might not be in Chicago anymore.

[00:10:24] Yeah.

[00:10:25] And then it just is like, well, what team is he going to go to next?

[00:10:27] And what, like, and will he be healthy enough?

[00:10:29] Will he even want to play?

[00:10:30] Like, I don't know.

[00:10:31] It worries me.

[00:10:33] But last episode, I was talking about how he does this podcast with his brother

[00:10:37] and some other people.

[00:10:38] So, who knows what's in store for Lonzo.

[00:10:40] But, you know, here from the Purple Pants podcast,

[00:10:43] we are sending prayers and healing spirits.

[00:10:45] And, of course, we can't do a play-by-play without talking about the Ball brothers.

[00:10:49] And there is an interesting one with my man, my man, LaMelo Ball.

[00:10:55] A couple of games ago, LaMelo got fined $100,000 in a live interview,

[00:11:02] post-interview after a game.

[00:11:04] He used some offensive derogatory comments in a post-game interview.

[00:11:08] And so I wanted to talk about this because I – first of all,

[00:11:12] every – when I say everybody and they mom was sending me this story,

[00:11:18] I literally woke up and I had about 20 people messaging me,

[00:11:22] like text messages, TikToks.

[00:11:24] And so I'm like, oh, my God, like, what did Mello do?

[00:11:28] Then I watched the interview and I was slightly disappointed.

[00:11:33] Now, me, a proud member of the LGBTQ plus community,

[00:11:38] I can understand why some people would find this offensive.

[00:11:42] So when Mello was doing an interview, he said something and then he was like,

[00:11:46] no homo, and then kind of continued.

[00:11:48] And so I – I'm torn between this, right?

[00:11:52] Because I understand how that is offensive.

[00:11:55] But for me, specifically growing up in a Black community,

[00:11:59] in a Black household, having brothers, going to school,

[00:12:02] and in all – that's something that is said, right?

[00:12:05] Like, and me personally, I don't take it as derogatory.

[00:12:08] Or it's – you know, now the kids are saying no ditty.

[00:12:12] Or it's really like saying no homo is like saying pause.

[00:12:15] Now, obviously, it really is – it is problematic in the sense of, like,

[00:12:21] you say something that might be a little like, oh,

[00:12:23] and then you say the phrase to them mean like, oh, I don't mean it that way.

[00:12:27] However, I just feel like everybody be gay, okay?

[00:12:31] So when people use that, I be like, you are really gay, right?

[00:12:36] Because it's like, who's even thinking about that?

[00:12:39] They be like, oh, I tie my shoes, pause.

[00:12:41] Like, wait, like what?

[00:12:42] So I really do feel like it is a cultural thing where I –

[00:12:47] like, I personally don't take offense to it because, again, it's like –

[00:12:51] sometimes I'll say it.

[00:12:52] Like, it's funny.

[00:12:53] Like, it's like sometimes you say some crazy ish, and it's just like, whoa.

[00:12:57] I didn't mean that.

[00:12:58] Like, this week on the Challenge USA, there was an elimination challenge

[00:13:05] called Coming From Behind.

[00:13:07] Oh, wow.

[00:13:09] So, like, that's like a, oh.

[00:13:11] However, I do feel like LaMelo needs to understand he is in the NBA.

[00:13:17] The NBA does have standards, and I do appreciate the NBA

[00:13:20] for calling things out like this.

[00:13:23] I just – for me, I want to know where's the $100,000 going to, right?

[00:13:27] Like, because –

[00:13:28] Right.

[00:13:28] Like, y'all got money.

[00:13:29] Are y'all donating it to an LGBTQ plus organization?

[00:13:33] Like, are you giving – like, that for me is the question that I have.

[00:13:37] Like, I understand there's rules and censorships, but, like,

[00:13:40] where's the money going?

[00:13:41] Right.

[00:13:42] I agree.

[00:13:43] It's such a fine line.

[00:13:45] And, like you said, LaMelo needs to kind of not hold – he needs to hold himself

[00:13:50] to a higher standard, you know, because he is a role model for younger kids.

[00:13:54] And being an athlete, you got so many eyes on you.

[00:13:57] But, you know, this is something that is common with LaMelo.

[00:14:00] Like, he's not media trained because the Charlotte Hornets,

[00:14:03] I don't know what they are doing.

[00:14:04] They're the most wild franchise in the whole league.

[00:14:08] And I think we even talked about this last time.

[00:14:10] I was like, LaMelo, someone needs to start media training these guys

[00:14:14] because, you know, eyes are on them.

[00:14:17] And then next thing you know, someone says something like LaMelo here.

[00:14:19] And, you know, it's hard because, you know, I'm obviously a straight white guy.

[00:14:23] So, like, I'm not naive to me walking through life with privileges

[00:14:28] and being looked at without any sort of, you know, reper –

[00:14:33] what's it called?

[00:14:33] Repercussion.

[00:14:34] You know, I'm not naive to that.

[00:14:36] So, really, Bryce, I appreciate you talking about it and bringing it up

[00:14:39] because I like hearing that perspective.

[00:14:41] And it's so real, you know, because I need to understand all sides of life.

[00:14:47] And I think LaMelo – I don't think he meant anything, but I agree with you.

[00:14:51] So, me saying it is one thing, but you saying it means a lot more.

[00:14:54] So, I appreciate you bringing light to that.

[00:14:57] Yeah.

[00:14:57] And it's like we've watched – if it was someone else,

[00:15:01] I couldn't really speak on it, right?

[00:15:03] However, you and I have bonded over watching the Ball family

[00:15:06] on their Facebook reality show years ago.

[00:15:09] And, like, this is classic Melo, right?

[00:15:11] Like, this is who Melo is.

[00:15:14] And so it's like I don't necessarily think that he meant anything by it.

[00:15:18] However, in this day and age, I think words do matter.

[00:15:21] And I think that it's – like, I'm glad that the NBA fined him.

[00:15:25] But I also just feel like people use that.

[00:15:29] And it's just interesting.

[00:15:32] And so it's like I don't condone it.

[00:15:36] However, for me, it's a culture that I grew up in.

[00:15:40] And so it's just like – it's just an interesting subject.

[00:15:43] But, like, $100,000.

[00:15:45] Damn.

[00:15:45] Like, it's just like, hello.

[00:15:47] Hello, chill, bro.

[00:15:49] And I like that you said that because I like that the NBA is bringing the hammer down on that

[00:15:56] because someone has to.

[00:15:57] And like you said, I don't know where the fine is actually going.

[00:16:01] I think it would be a great idea to donate it to some sort of LGBTQ cause.

[00:16:06] However, I don't think the NBA is doing that.

[00:16:08] I do not think that they're doing that.

[00:16:09] I think it's going right into Adam Silver's pocket and they're moving on.

[00:16:13] Yeah.

[00:16:14] Well, I can tell you where it's going later in the episode.

[00:16:17] But I can't just bring up nothing – something negative about my man and not something positive.

[00:16:22] Just recently, Mello hit a career high scoring 50 points in a game, which is his personal record

[00:16:30] and also the Charlotte Hornets record in their franchise.

[00:16:35] Now, help me understand this, Shalinsky.

[00:16:38] Now, mind you, you know I love LaMelo.

[00:16:40] But are the Charlotte Hornets a relatively new franchise?

[00:16:45] Because I just am like, this is the first time y'all ever had somebody scoring 50 points in the game?

[00:16:51] Like –

[00:16:52] Yeah, they are a new franchise, a newer franchise in the league.

[00:16:56] In fact, I'm trying to think – so a lot of teams, like, they bounce from city to city.

[00:17:01] But this Charlotte Hornets team is one of the newest ones in the league.

[00:17:05] I'm trying to – I don't even know exactly when they were created.

[00:17:08] I want to even say early 90s, 92 maybe.

[00:17:12] Because there's a few players coming to mind that I know are some Charlotte Hornet greats.

[00:17:16] Like my boy Larry Johnson.

[00:17:18] He's a UNLV alumni.

[00:17:20] Shout out Larry Johnson.

[00:17:22] He was a beast.

[00:17:23] He was a 90s player.

[00:17:24] Alonzo Mourning.

[00:17:25] Muggsy Bogues.

[00:17:26] Oh.

[00:17:27] Yeah.

[00:17:28] So all those players are early 90s players and early to mid.

[00:17:32] So I know the franchise has been around for a little bit.

[00:17:35] But it's definitely a newer franchise.

[00:17:37] And LaMelo, man, he got me so geeked out of that game.

[00:17:42] Like I was watching that.

[00:17:43] And it was against the Bucs too.

[00:17:45] The Bucs had a bad year.

[00:17:47] But they got Giannis.

[00:17:48] So scoring 50 against Giannis, like that is – that's a huge accomplishment.

[00:17:53] Yeah.

[00:17:53] And here's the thing.

[00:17:54] Mello's been balling this whole season.

[00:17:58] I think they were in Philly maybe like three, two weeks ago.

[00:18:02] And him and Jarrett going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

[00:18:06] I'm like, yo, Mello is really cooking.

[00:18:07] But it just kind of sucks that like he just hit this career high, this franchise high of 50 points.

[00:18:13] And they still lost.

[00:18:14] Mello is cooking, scoring, making these incredible plays.

[00:18:18] And they still losing.

[00:18:20] I don't understand it.

[00:18:21] But listen, if LaMelo is happy and his check is still clearing, then continue to play ball.

[00:18:27] Oh.

[00:18:29] Man, see, I also love the Hornets.

[00:18:31] I hope that they don't change because like there is some sort of youthfulness and –

[00:18:36] Right.

[00:18:36] This fun energy about them that make them so fun to watch.

[00:18:40] However, they need to fine tune some things.

[00:18:44] But I really love their energy, especially Mello, man.

[00:18:47] He's really the greatest.

[00:18:49] Yeah.

[00:18:49] I feel like this episode is a continuation of our last play-by-play because we're kind of circling back to a lot of the topics that we talked about.

[00:18:57] And here is another topic that we need to discuss.

[00:19:00] Bronny.

[00:19:01] Last we talked, he had just entered in the NBA.

[00:19:04] It was the first time a father-son duo was in the NBA, made history.

[00:19:10] However, Bronny wasn't performing like an NBA player.

[00:19:14] It was talks that he was going to get put on the G League.

[00:19:17] That happened.

[00:19:18] He is with the South Bay Lakers.

[00:19:22] He is part-time on the G League, part-time in the NBA.

[00:19:25] He is the highest-paid G League player, making more than a million dollars.

[00:19:30] And there's been a lot of controversy about Bronny since then.

[00:19:35] Bronny does not travel with the team because the team flies commercial.

[00:19:40] He does not stay at the same team hotels because they stay at the Marriott Courtyard.

[00:19:45] Now, mind you, I'm very biased of hotels.

[00:19:50] I only stay at Marriott's.

[00:19:52] I am, you know, my status is ambassador elite at Marriott.

[00:19:57] So I love the Marriott.

[00:19:58] You know, the Courtyard is might be a lower brand of some of the higher JWs, the Marriott's, different things.

[00:20:05] But like these reports of Bronny coming out and kind of, I don't want to say Devo behavior, but so many people are criticizing him regarding this.

[00:20:16] Other people are coming out saying because he's the son of LeBron, he needs extra security, all of this.

[00:21:16] Also Shopify.de-Try.

[00:21:19] Made for Germany.

[00:21:21] Powered by Shopify.

[00:21:24] Then, to make matters worse, Jelinski.

[00:21:27] You know, the G League, I believe they have 336 players.

[00:21:33] And they recently just did the rankings of the players.

[00:21:37] 1 through 36.

[00:21:39] Bronny was at 330.

[00:21:42] He averages 4 points a game.

[00:21:45] Like, I be feeling bad, Jelinski, because anytime I'm, like, scrolling and watching TikTok and just watching my sports coverage, people are ragging on him.

[00:21:56] They're just saying he's not ready.

[00:21:58] He's not a bad player.

[00:21:59] Like, you know, if he were to play you, he would cook you, right?

[00:22:02] But, like, there are levels to NBA players.

[00:22:07] And, like, they are at an elite level.

[00:22:09] And Bronny just isn't there.

[00:22:11] And it just really seems to be causing a rift in the NBA where people are just saying, like, he is just, he should not be in the NBA.

[00:22:19] And he should not be in the G League.

[00:22:22] Thoughts.

[00:22:23] Something that I love that the NBA does, which I'm not sure they'll do now, but they love to do, like, anonymous surveys.

[00:22:30] So, I would really love to see, like, you know, kind of, like, some survivor-esque sort of deal right there.

[00:22:38] What are your thoughts on Bronny?

[00:22:39] Like, they would have, like, a yes or no sort of question.

[00:22:42] They'd be like, or I don't know, what do you think is, who's the worst player in the league?

[00:22:47] You know, blah, blah, blah.

[00:22:48] Say Bronny's rostered with the Lakers.

[00:22:49] They'd all be like, oh, Bronny.

[00:22:51] And the report would come out.

[00:22:53] Seems 99% of the league says Bronny James is the most undeserving player in the NBA.

[00:22:59] This, that, the other.

[00:22:59] So, I'd be interested to see the other players in the league's thought about it.

[00:23:04] However, it's bad.

[00:23:06] Like, from my perspective, and I watch a lot of Bronny's highlights.

[00:23:10] I mean, even the clip that you sent me of Bronny playing in the league.

[00:23:14] He had a few nice little buckets, but, see, not even a few.

[00:23:18] He had a couple.

[00:23:19] He had four points.

[00:23:20] And I hate to say that, but it's just, it's just the truth, man.

[00:23:24] It's so hard.

[00:23:25] I feel so bad for him.

[00:23:26] It's still a lot of negativity going his way.

[00:23:29] It's almost, if I were to put myself in those shoes, I almost find it impossible to even thrive in a bubble like that.

[00:23:37] You know, there's so much negativity and noise surrounding your mind and your thoughts.

[00:23:43] It eventually will take a toll on you.

[00:23:45] Now, I hope that Bronny is, like, off of his phone at all times.

[00:23:49] Just has a Blackberry where he only talks to his dad, his mom, and his siblings.

[00:23:53] Because I really feel like that's the best sort of way out of it.

[00:23:57] You know, keep your loved ones close and really don't feed into the noise.

[00:24:01] And Bronny, he was really, really nice in high school.

[00:24:05] However, that perspective might be kind of jaded because, one, he was on one of the best high school programs in the country, Sierra Canyon.

[00:24:12] And a bunch of old NBA alumni's kids went there, like Shaq's kids, Mello's kids, a bunch of people's kids go there.

[00:24:22] A really good school.

[00:24:23] And he was nice.

[00:24:25] However, and a lot of other NBA players, like Zyra Williams coming to mind and just a bunch of people.

[00:24:30] However, he was always LeBron's son.

[00:24:34] That is one thing that has not changed.

[00:24:36] And he had a heart attack when he went to USC.

[00:24:39] So his freshman year, he was hooping.

[00:24:41] He had a heart attack.

[00:24:42] And people say that he hasn't been the same since.

[00:24:45] But I'm wondering if, you know, it might have been more that he was just kind of always that way.

[00:24:53] So I'm kind of wondering if the skill was ever there.

[00:24:58] And I hate to say it, but it's just the truth.

[00:25:01] And, you know, playing against better people will always make you better.

[00:25:04] However, one thing is for sure, it needs more time.

[00:25:08] Bronny needs more time.

[00:25:09] And I think to add injury to insult, it's like you're getting all of these negative criticisms about, like, just your skill level in general.

[00:25:17] Then, on top of that, you're not traveling with the team because they're flying commercial.

[00:25:22] You're not staying at the Marriott Courtyard.

[00:25:25] If anything, this is the time for you to be like, yo, I'm real.

[00:25:30] Like, I'm in the dirt.

[00:25:31] I'm in the mud.

[00:25:32] Like, I'm flying coach.

[00:25:34] I'm staying at the Marriott.

[00:25:35] I'm sharing a twin bed.

[00:25:37] Like, and the fact that he's not even doing that, that is the part for me.

[00:25:42] Like, forget all the criticisms, right?

[00:25:44] Like, listen, you in the NBA, period.

[00:25:46] Like, you can ball.

[00:25:47] Hopefully, you are improving on your craft.

[00:25:50] But it's kind of these other things that it's just like, wow.

[00:25:53] Like, are you like, did you have a silver spoon in your mouth?

[00:25:57] And, like, you're not even.

[00:25:59] And so, it kind of, like, really transitions to our next topic, Kayan Anthony.

[00:26:04] Now, listen, let me just be clear, right?

[00:26:08] Me, I'm a passive sports player, right?

[00:26:11] Like, I kind of sort of really just get into the sports for, like, the drama and the names.

[00:26:15] Like, I said to you early on, I, you always ask, people ask me, like, why do I love LaMelo Ball?

[00:26:22] It's like, I watched him as on The Ball Family.

[00:26:25] He was like a menace.

[00:26:26] He was funny.

[00:26:27] And I just, that was stuck with me.

[00:26:29] Kayan Anthony is the son of Melo Anthony and the son of Lala.

[00:26:35] I love Lala from TRL.

[00:26:38] Love Carmelo Anthony.

[00:26:39] I'm in that age bracket where Carmelo Anthony was the great in, you know, my time.

[00:26:44] And so, it's like, I've been watching Kayan from the very beginning.

[00:26:48] Another set.

[00:26:50] So, that's Melo, Kayan.

[00:26:52] I just also want to add someone else to my list.

[00:26:54] There are two people.

[00:26:54] Matt Barnes' sons, the twins.

[00:26:57] I love them.

[00:26:58] Like, I love Matt Barnes.

[00:27:00] I got kind of sort of introduced to Matt Barnes from Gloria Barnes, his ex-wife when she was on Basketball Wives.

[00:27:06] And then just following the twins since then.

[00:27:09] And like, mind you, the twins be really cooking.

[00:27:10] So, like, those are like my top young bulls in the basketball world.

[00:27:16] Now, back to Kayan Anthony.

[00:27:19] Kayan Anthony, his dad is a GOAT.

[00:27:21] Great.

[00:27:22] A legend.

[00:27:23] And he just committed to Syracuse, which is a big deal.

[00:27:26] That's where his dad went, I think, for two years.

[00:27:28] And it's just interesting when we talk about Kayan and we talk about Bronny.

[00:27:34] Like, yeah, Kayan has the name Anthony.

[00:27:36] However, I've been watching Kayan probably for the last three years.

[00:27:40] This past summer, Kayan was in, I forget what they call it.

[00:27:44] It's like the summer league where, like, they're hooping outside in those tournaments in the hood.

[00:27:49] Like, Kayan is out there balling.

[00:27:52] Not even just balling.

[00:27:53] He's getting into fights with kids in the hood.

[00:27:56] Like, we see the progression of Kayan.

[00:27:59] It almost reminded me of, like, the N1 tournaments from back in the day.

[00:28:02] I feel like I'm aging myself.

[00:28:04] But, like, Kayan is out there playing with kids in the hood.

[00:28:07] Like, you know, really leveling up.

[00:28:09] We don't see that from Bronny.

[00:28:12] And so it's like, although Kayan's dad is Carmelo Anthony, we see Kayan out here balling.

[00:28:20] And I love Kayan's personality.

[00:28:22] He's from New York.

[00:28:23] Very much from New York.

[00:28:25] He's cocky.

[00:28:26] He talk-ish.

[00:28:27] But he can ball.

[00:28:29] And he's like, I don't really like using the word aggressive with black men.

[00:28:34] But, like, he is dominant and cocky on the basketball court.

[00:28:38] And that's what I love.

[00:28:40] And so, you know, just shout out to Kayan for committing to Syracuse.

[00:28:44] Yes, sir.

[00:28:45] Yeah, well, that's well said.

[00:28:47] He's dominant.

[00:28:48] He has a high motor.

[00:28:49] And I like that.

[00:28:50] So I remember growing up, because I watched Key on myself.

[00:28:53] I was not high on him at all.

[00:28:55] Until recently, maybe about a year ago, I saw a clip of him playing against his dad.

[00:29:01] And I was like, wow.

[00:29:03] Yeah.

[00:29:03] He was really stepped up.

[00:29:05] Like, he was really holding his own against his pops.

[00:29:08] And his pops is one of the greatest scorers to ever do it.

[00:29:10] So I was really, really impressed.

[00:29:12] I'm really excited to see what he does.

[00:29:14] I love seeing the, not hometown, but I love seeing him follow his father's footsteps.

[00:29:19] Because, you know, there's a little bit of honor to that and a little bit of salute to the pops about it.

[00:29:24] And, you know, he was, that run Carmelo had in Syracuse was amazing.

[00:29:28] Like, my pops would talk about that.

[00:29:30] In 03, you know, the 03 draft class was loaded.

[00:29:34] And Carmelo, like, he really rose his stock through the tournament.

[00:29:38] So I'm really excited to see Key on Hoop.

[00:29:40] And, oh, and by the way, I love those N1 tournaments.

[00:29:45] One of my favorite Hoopers of all time.

[00:29:47] His name is Escalade.

[00:29:49] Rest in peace.

[00:29:49] He was one of the greatest to ever do it, man.

[00:29:51] He was like Jokic before Jokic.

[00:29:53] He was a big dude.

[00:29:54] He was like 400 pounds.

[00:29:56] But he was behind the back passes and dribble moves.

[00:30:00] Things a 400-pound man shouldn't be doing.

[00:30:03] Yeah, he was hooping.

[00:30:05] What you know about that N1?

[00:30:07] Mind you, I still got, I still got like seven N1 shorts around my house.

[00:30:12] They come down to my ankles.

[00:30:14] But, you know, that was, that was the era in the time back in the day.

[00:30:18] But I used to have a fight for sure.

[00:30:20] For sure, I had a few.

[00:30:22] Yeah, then I don't know.

[00:30:23] Then N1 just got corny.

[00:30:25] And then they just started selling them at like Walmart and Kmart.

[00:30:27] But I don't know what happened.

[00:30:28] But they did have their glory days.

[00:30:30] And I'm excited for Cayenne.

[00:30:31] Do you think he will do four years in Syracuse?

[00:30:35] Or do you think he will get fast-tracked to the NBA?

[00:30:39] Well, that's an interesting question.

[00:30:40] I think that he will be in college for four years.

[00:30:45] Whether it's with Syracuse, I don't know.

[00:30:48] But I could see it.

[00:30:50] I could also see a world where he progresses.

[00:30:53] And especially with the NIL, their prevalence and growth nowadays.

[00:30:58] I could see Keyon really moving.

[00:31:00] Cayenne, Cayenne.

[00:31:02] I could see Cayenne moving somewhere, not in Syracuse.

[00:31:07] I could really see him going to another program for success.

[00:31:12] And we'll see.

[00:31:13] It all depends about his growth.

[00:31:15] So we'll see.

[00:31:16] Yeah.

[00:31:17] Well, we will keep an eye out on Keyenne, as Jalinski says.

[00:31:22] But Cayenne Anthony, that's my dog.

[00:31:25] And speaking of the rookie class, it's a lot of things going wrong with the 76ers.

[00:31:31] Okay?

[00:31:32] We're going to get to that.

[00:31:33] But it's a lot of things going right.

[00:31:35] And with Joel saying he not playing back-to-back, Jared has said, I will play back-to-back.

[00:31:44] And let me just say, this rookie class, first of all, I just can't say enough about Jared

[00:31:50] McCain, right?

[00:31:51] Like, I, before we even get to why I'm even talking about him, I just love Jared McCain,

[00:31:56] right?

[00:31:57] I love the fact that he is a hooper.

[00:31:59] Not just a hooper.

[00:32:00] He is cooking mother.

[00:32:02] Like, he's killing it.

[00:32:03] But I love, that's not why I love Jared.

[00:32:07] Okay?

[00:32:07] Mind you, Jared is a little easy on the eyes.

[00:32:09] He's kind of handsome.

[00:32:10] But I love the fact that Jared does not subscribe to societal norms of what a basketball player

[00:32:19] should be.

[00:32:21] When Jared was in college and during the draft, he got a lot of slack.

[00:32:25] Jared wears nails.

[00:32:27] He colors his nails.

[00:32:28] He does a lot of TikToks.

[00:32:29] Some people would say a lot.

[00:32:32] He's been called gay a lot.

[00:32:35] And here's the thing.

[00:32:35] Like, people calling him gay.

[00:32:36] Well, first of all, is that bad?

[00:32:37] Like, I'd be confused when people are like, that's gay.

[00:32:39] Well, is that bad?

[00:32:40] Like, I'm confused.

[00:32:42] But Jared's not.

[00:32:44] However, he beats to the drum of his own or beat to the drum of his own beat or beats

[00:32:51] to his own drum or drums to his own beat.

[00:32:54] And I love it.

[00:32:55] And it was like in college when he was looking like he was going to go to the NBA and he was

[00:33:00] wearing his nails.

[00:33:01] If you're watching us on YouTube, you can kind of see in his photo, he's got blue and

[00:33:05] red nails.

[00:33:06] People are making fun of him.

[00:33:07] All of this.

[00:33:08] Jared said, oh, y'all want to make fun of me?

[00:33:10] Oh, okay.

[00:33:11] Jared has secured a sponsorship with a nail line.

[00:33:16] And so he's getting money off of that.

[00:33:17] So one, we just love Jared McCain.

[00:33:20] That's it.

[00:33:21] However, Jared McCain is showing the F out this season.

[00:33:29] It's a lot of things I can say about the Sixers.

[00:33:33] But what I will say about the Sixers is Jared is out here cooking.

[00:33:39] And one of his last games, he had said after he made a shot, he was like, I'm the next MVP.

[00:33:45] And in a press conference, they said, did you say that you want to be the rookie of the

[00:33:49] year?

[00:33:50] And Jared was like, that's something that I'm going for.

[00:33:52] And with his stats continuously rising like they're doing and the performance that he

[00:33:57] is giving, he very much likely could be the rookie of the year.

[00:34:02] He really could.

[00:34:04] Yeah.

[00:34:05] So with this draft class in particular, it's interesting because it has been said that this

[00:34:11] draft class is the worst draft class in a long time.

[00:34:15] Years.

[00:34:15] They got no talent and just no superstar or even potential all-star level players.

[00:34:22] However, I've always been high on Jared McCain.

[00:34:25] Like you said, I mean, he's just such an interesting and refreshing type of person.

[00:34:30] You know, he's just such a great individual.

[00:34:32] My cousin Brooklyn, his favorite player ever is Jared McCain.

[00:34:36] Right.

[00:34:37] And yes.

[00:34:38] How old is Brooklyn?

[00:34:39] Brooklyn's 16.

[00:34:40] Okay.

[00:34:41] I was, I was cool.

[00:34:42] Yeah.

[00:34:42] Okay.

[00:34:42] He just turned 16.

[00:34:44] So yeah, you know, watching him on TikTok and YouTube.

[00:34:47] Cause in my era of growing up, they used to have like ball is life and a whole bunch of YouTube

[00:34:55] channels like that.

[00:34:55] And they do like these little documentaries, like Julian Newman was big at the time.

[00:35:02] And he, man, that's another story.

[00:35:04] That guy's just crazy.

[00:35:06] Um, but anyway, so now Jared McCain, he, he kind of is doing the same thing.

[00:35:11] Um, documenting his own life, doing TikToks.

[00:35:14] And there have been stories on him through YouTube and where you could just really see

[00:35:18] his life where he's so open and shares everything that he thinks.

[00:35:22] And like you said, he really marched to the beat of his own drum.

[00:35:25] And I love that.

[00:35:25] It's so refreshing.

[00:35:26] He is just such a unique person, man.

[00:35:30] And I love how, how he just has such high standards for himself.

[00:35:35] And like, I want to strive to be like Jared really.

[00:35:38] And back to the rookie class I was talking about, I'm getting distracted because of how

[00:35:41] great Jared really is.

[00:35:42] Like, I really love him.

[00:35:43] Um, he, he really has potential to be rookie of the year.

[00:35:48] I'm really impressed with his game so far.

[00:35:50] And it's been a, a light in the Philly organization for sure, because I don't know if you know

[00:35:55] this price, but I used to be a huge Philadelphia fan.

[00:35:58] Like I was a huge Ben Simmons fan and a huge Joel Embiid fan.

[00:36:02] So I'm glad Joel got his MVP honors, but I was super high on Ben Simmons.

[00:36:07] I thought he was next LeBron.

[00:36:09] Like he was an all star.

[00:36:11] And it's just, what happened to him?

[00:36:13] I love Philly, but I hate Philly because Philly, we are different.

[00:36:18] We love Ben Simmons.

[00:36:19] And then Ben Simmons stopped shooting and we stopped loving Ben Simmons.

[00:36:23] And it's been a love hate relationship ever since.

[00:36:26] But I love Ben Simmons too.

[00:36:27] It's also funny.

[00:36:29] Uh, I saw this meme where it's like Jared McCain being the only, uh, one smiling here

[00:36:34] is some intense, insane foreshadowing.

[00:36:38] Uh, everyone on this, I believe these are like the new players on the Sixers and everyone's

[00:36:43] just giving that serious face.

[00:36:45] I hear Jared McCain is out here just smiling and shining.

[00:36:47] And I love it for Jared McCain.

[00:36:49] Uh, and just also just a positive role model for men of color, right?

[00:36:54] Where it's like, sometimes there's this stereotype that like men of color, specifically sports

[00:36:59] and athletes, they have to fit this certain model.

[00:37:01] And I love the fact that Jared is breaking that and getting them buckets and telling y'all

[00:37:07] you can play basketball, paint your nails.

[00:37:09] You can do get ready with me and fit checks on TikTok and still be that man.

[00:37:13] And so we just love Jared.

[00:37:16] Yeah.

[00:37:17] Now let's get into some other Sixers stuff since you brought it up.

[00:37:20] Okay.

[00:37:20] I'm from Philadelphia.

[00:37:21] So I have to, uh, I've got to go for my, my team.

[00:37:26] I'm still trusting the process.

[00:37:27] I don't understand what the process is.

[00:37:30] However, we talked about Joel last play by play where he came out and said that, uh,

[00:37:36] he would not be playing back to back games because he didn't want to get hurt.

[00:37:39] Even though he played in Olympics.

[00:37:41] NBA said, Oh, for real.

[00:37:42] Well, let's launch an investigation.

[00:37:44] Nothing really came out of the investigation.

[00:37:46] However, uh, Tyrese Maxey, who was on the Sixers, uh, him and Joel have, uh, have had

[00:37:52] a relatively great relationship over the years.

[00:37:55] They kind of hold each other accountable in the locker room a couple of games ago.

[00:38:00] Tyrese said to Joel, like, Hey, uh, I mean, you're the franchise player here.

[00:38:06] It would be important if you were to show up on time, show up to these, uh, team events

[00:38:14] act like you want to be here because it really is affecting the Sixers.

[00:38:19] And we see it.

[00:38:20] Um, I was reading this article though, that was like, just interesting where they, they,

[00:38:25] everyone calls Joel, the captain, everyone calls him the leader.

[00:38:28] He's the franchise player, but not all franchise players are not all star star players are team

[00:38:37] leaders.

[00:38:37] And I think that this is absolutely the case in Joel, where he's not the leader of the team.

[00:38:43] Um, he is reserved.

[00:38:44] He doesn't do a lot of activities with the team.

[00:38:46] He keeps himself.

[00:38:47] He's only playing back to back.

[00:38:48] And I really think that the Sixers need a leader.

[00:38:51] Like you can watch when you watch the games and you're in the huddles.

[00:38:54] It's not like Joel is in their life.

[00:38:56] He's just standing there when he's there.

[00:38:59] Um, and so it just was interesting for Tyrese Maxey to actually call this out.

[00:39:04] It's like, Joel, do you not want to be with the Sixers anymore?

[00:39:06] Like what's going on brother?

[00:39:08] Because I'm confused.

[00:39:11] I agree, man.

[00:39:13] And you're playing for Philly Jalinski.

[00:39:15] You got about one more second before the Philly fans turn on you.

[00:39:19] And you know, we will, you better ask Ben.

[00:39:22] For real, for real.

[00:39:23] Look, so I was, I was, I loved this.

[00:39:25] I love seeing Tyrese Maxey call out Joel and I was not expecting it.

[00:39:30] All over my Twitter right now is like, who's the snitch in the Philly locker room?

[00:39:33] And I love those tweets.

[00:39:35] I think I'll be dying.

[00:39:36] It's like Joel and B minus 100.

[00:39:39] Like he, or minus 115.

[00:39:41] Like he's the favorite to be the snitch.

[00:39:42] Like what?

[00:39:43] But anyway, uh, it's just funny.

[00:39:45] Cause they're like, Joel's trying to figure out who the snitch is.

[00:39:47] And he's the snitch or it could be Eric Gordon.

[00:39:49] And then plus 20,000 is Jerry McCain.

[00:39:52] Cause no way it's Jerry McCain.

[00:39:54] But it's just, it's just crazy.

[00:39:56] I love the whole situation.

[00:39:57] I love seeing Tyrese Maxey called Joel out because, you know, for as big of a Joel fan

[00:40:02] as I am, I mean, I was a fan of him even back in Kansas, you know, cause I loved his story.

[00:40:07] Like he didn't start hooping until he was 17.

[00:40:09] Next thing you know, he's 18 in Kansas, hooping in college and playing great.

[00:40:13] And now he's an MVP level player.

[00:40:16] So my, my thing is last season, we saw a different Joel and B.

[00:40:20] Like we saw Joel and B who was hungry for the MVP award.

[00:40:24] We saw Joel and B who, and I remember one interview in particular, they asked Joel,

[00:40:29] Joel, what's the goal here?

[00:40:30] Do you want to win MVP this season?

[00:40:32] He said, I just want to win.

[00:40:34] So that, I don't know.

[00:40:37] It's so weird to me because now not only does he not want the MVP, it seems like he doesn't

[00:40:41] even want to win anymore.

[00:40:42] And you said it best, you know, ask Ben Simmons, the Philly fans will turn on you.

[00:40:47] So I don't know what it is with Joel, man.

[00:40:50] Like I love Jerry McCain and I love Tyrese Maxey.

[00:40:54] I think those are two positive, positive dudes who can both hoop.

[00:40:59] And they, they have Joel right now.

[00:41:00] I really hope that Tyrese can get Joel in check because like you said, he's not necessarily

[00:41:05] the team leader, but he is the franchise player.

[00:41:09] And I hope they get it around.

[00:41:11] What is Paul George doing?

[00:41:12] I love my boy, Paul George, but he hasn't been doing nothing.

[00:41:16] Don't even, Jalinski, don't even get me started.

[00:41:20] First of all, Thanksgiving is this week.

[00:41:21] And this is what I'm going to have to be surrounded by this chatter and talk.

[00:41:26] Like in my family group text, my brother, literally my brother said that the other day.

[00:41:30] And my brother is from Philly.

[00:41:32] He is a diehard Philly fan.

[00:41:35] And I can't tell you how many, I probably shouldn't even be telling you this, but I

[00:41:40] can't tell you how many growing up, how many TVs in my brother's room were broken because

[00:41:45] he punched them or threw them due to the 76ers and the Eagles.

[00:41:51] And so like my brother really, he really gets into this.

[00:41:55] And so it's like, I have to prepare myself for the conversations that will be had at the

[00:42:01] Sixers.

[00:42:01] But listen, that's why I'm preparing myself talking to you.

[00:42:05] Now, an interesting battle that is coming about is the NBA and the NFL.

[00:42:13] The NBA, although y'all finding my man $100,000 and y'all getting this money, their ratings

[00:42:19] are down significantly.

[00:42:22] Now, normally the ratings of the NBA kind of pick up after Christmas, right?

[00:42:29] Because the NFL is going to be ending soon.

[00:42:31] And normally Christmas day is a big basketball day.

[00:42:34] There's multiple games going on.

[00:42:38] However, the NFL said, well, our ratings are pretty good.

[00:42:42] Let's get Beyonce to do the halftime show on a Christmas day.

[00:42:49] And so you already know, ain't nobody going to be watching no NBA on Christmas day.

[00:42:53] We are all tuning in to Netflix.

[00:42:56] Now, here's another thing before I even start.

[00:42:58] Netflix.

[00:43:01] Net-flix.

[00:43:03] I saw the Mike Tyson fight.

[00:43:06] I saw the Get Show-ish together for Beyonce.

[00:43:11] Okay?

[00:43:12] Don't like, if I see a buffering, I'm joining the class action lawsuit.

[00:43:16] Do you know there's a class action lawsuit with Netflix?

[00:43:19] I am one email away from joining.

[00:43:22] So don't play with me, Netflix.

[00:43:23] But there is this battle for ratings.

[00:43:27] And with the NBA doing bad or just not doing as well, the NFL said, checkmate.

[00:43:34] I have theories, Jalinski.

[00:43:36] For me, I really feel like the issue in the ratings, just in all sports in general, is the damn streaming.

[00:43:44] What happened to the days if you had ABC, Fox, or CBS, you could watch sports whenever?

[00:43:54] Now it's TNT.

[00:43:57] They went to cable.

[00:43:58] Now TNT's contract is up.

[00:44:00] Now it's about to be Amazon Prime.

[00:44:01] Now it's about to be Netflix.

[00:44:03] Now, you know, people are streaming.

[00:44:05] We're getting away from cable because who's paying $400 a month for cable when you can pay for Hulu or Netflix?

[00:44:12] And they've got these sport packages.

[00:44:14] I really feel like the viewership is down because of streaming and capitalism.

[00:44:20] Like, who wants to buy?

[00:44:23] Like, I have YouTube TV.

[00:44:25] I got to get an extra sports package to watch the sports.

[00:44:28] And I don't even watch the sports, but I wanted the sports package just in case I get a man and he want to watch a little something.

[00:44:33] He can watch it when he at my crib.

[00:44:35] You know, foreshadowing.

[00:44:36] I'm trying to be Jared McCain in the photo.

[00:44:39] It's like, it's just so much.

[00:44:42] It really is, too.

[00:44:44] And it's funny you mention that because, look, I'm a big sports banner and I just love sports.

[00:44:49] So, like, I'm trying to, I'm in my room like, hey, Cox, turn on the Mavericks game.

[00:44:54] Oh, you need to subscribe to NBA TV.

[00:44:56] I'm just like, oh, my God.

[00:44:58] Like, I can't even watch anything anymore.

[00:45:01] And it really is true.

[00:45:03] So, NFL, it is a checkmate because, I mean, it's Beyonce.

[00:45:06] Like, who's not going to watch the halftime show?

[00:45:08] Like, let's be for real.

[00:45:10] But, you know, I remember when I was a kid, like, watching.

[00:45:14] Tell us, get out with yesterday, but go on.

[00:45:16] For real, for real.

[00:45:17] Like, watching the Warriors and Cavs on Christmas Day.

[00:45:20] Like, I felt like that was the finals.

[00:45:22] And I was so, like, hyped watching that.

[00:45:31] And it really just is difficult.

[00:45:32] And everyone is so greedy nowadays.

[00:45:34] Like, I'm going to be watching basketball games on Disney Plus soon.

[00:45:37] It just makes no sense.

[00:45:38] Like, that's where we're going.

[00:45:40] Right?

[00:45:40] It's coming.

[00:45:41] And so, yeah.

[00:45:43] Get y'all ish together.

[00:45:44] I understand y'all want to make money.

[00:45:45] But if you want viewerships who are the people that essentially pay y'all because we're watching the ads that the ad companies pay.

[00:45:52] You get it together.

[00:45:53] Like, it's just, you got to get these packages to NFL, NBA.

[00:45:56] Like, it's like, oh, yeah.

[00:45:58] And Bryce, listen to this.

[00:45:59] I found something out recently that you'll find interesting.

[00:46:01] So, I just saw a tweet from, like, an NBA source.

[00:46:06] Because I follow all those little things.

[00:46:08] We know.

[00:46:11] Mavericks are my squad.

[00:46:12] They're one of my squads.

[00:46:13] I love Mark Cuban.

[00:46:14] He just sold the team, though.

[00:46:16] However, you know, I just love the organization.

[00:46:19] The thing is, the Mavericks are doing something revolutionary.

[00:46:23] They have created an app where you can watch all Mavericks games for the entire year for free.

[00:46:32] Isn't that crazy?

[00:46:35] Isn't that crazy?

[00:46:37] Then you could just stream it to the TV.

[00:46:39] Oh, now that's smart.

[00:46:41] Yup.

[00:46:41] And it's such a Mavericks thing to do because, you know, it's kind of like, you know, Mark Cuban.

[00:46:47] He's an entrepreneur and just business-oriented guy.

[00:46:52] So, I thought that was super interesting.

[00:46:54] I got to find out some more details on that.

[00:46:56] And I'll send them your way.

[00:46:57] Because I'm not fully, I don't remember fully what they said.

[00:47:01] But that, you know, that's kind of game-changing.

[00:47:04] You know?

[00:47:04] Because why watch NBA TV when I got to pay $120 a month or a year when I could go watch the Mavericks game and watch my team that day?

[00:47:14] I feel like the NBA going to put a stop to that.

[00:47:17] But, like, I feel like it's too good to be true.

[00:47:19] Like, I feel like the NBA going to be like, nah, we're not doing that.

[00:47:23] But, yeah, that's smart.

[00:47:25] But it is just, it's crazy to think of, like, all the subscriptions.

[00:47:28] And then it's just like, you know, I have all of this stuff.

[00:47:31] And then it's like, the second I get a second to just lay in my bed, put a little herbal menisal something in the air and just chill out.

[00:47:44] I got a HBO.

[00:47:46] I got a scroll.

[00:47:46] It takes me 45 minutes to find something to watch.

[00:47:52] And then, Jalinski, I just settle on effing long order and go to sleep.

[00:47:55] Like, it's so frustrating.

[00:47:57] I hate it.

[00:47:59] But another thing that most people have been hating, hate to love it, is the state of boxing.

[00:48:06] We had this, it's Jake Paul, right?

[00:48:09] Is it?

[00:48:10] Yeah, that's Jake Paul.

[00:48:11] Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight.

[00:48:13] It was the most streamed boxing fight in history with 65 million people viewing.

[00:48:21] And it was an interesting fight, obviously.

[00:48:24] Jake Paul won against almost 60-year-old Mike Tyson.

[00:48:31] However, a couple of things to talk about this.

[00:48:33] Just the state of the career.

[00:48:34] Just the state of boxing and these fights.

[00:48:39] These expedition fights.

[00:48:41] Did you see hours before the fight took place, the script of the fight that leaked on Twitter?

[00:48:56] That essentially, round by round by round by round by round by round by round, and ultimately having Jake win.

[00:49:06] So that leaked on TV.

[00:49:08] So we're like, okay, this is fake.

[00:49:10] Jake is going to win.

[00:49:11] And it's like, I don't really love boxing.

[00:49:15] However, when big fights like this happen, I love when they do those documentaries and you're following the people.

[00:49:24] Like, for me, I'd be needing anything to watch when I'm at work or doing work.

[00:49:28] And so it's like, these things.

[00:49:29] Like, I was watching Mike Tyson on this promotional trail.

[00:49:33] And like, the Mike Tyson that I saw training was not the Mike Tyson in the gym.

[00:49:41] Then we learn of these contracts that come out.

[00:49:44] So I think Jake got $40 million.

[00:49:47] Mike could earn up to $20 million if the rounds, if he went the full 10 rounds.

[00:49:55] 7 to 10, I think if he made 1 to 3 was like $3 million.

[00:49:59] 4 to 5 was like $10 million.

[00:50:02] 7 to 8 was the $20 million.

[00:50:03] However, in the contract, Mike couldn't hit him with the uppercut.

[00:50:07] Because if you were watching like me, you know Mike hit you with a boom.

[00:50:09] Then the uppercut comes.

[00:50:11] Couldn't do that.

[00:50:11] Mike also has that like, I forget the grip thing where he was like biting the glove.

[00:50:16] So it just was a lot.

[00:50:19] And I have a lot of respect for Mike Tyson because the day of the fight, I was like,

[00:50:25] what's Mike Tyson's net worth?

[00:50:27] It's $10 million.

[00:50:28] So I mean, hey, I'm mad.

[00:50:31] I'll get in the ring.

[00:50:32] But $20 million, I really do.

[00:50:35] People I saw a lot online that people were like, Mike Tyson sold out for the legacy.

[00:50:41] Or for the well-being of his children, right?

[00:50:44] Like essentially like this fight, he shouldn't have to work again.

[00:50:48] But it also just goes to show you that like these legends, they weren't taught money management.

[00:50:55] Like you should not have to be 60 years old.

[00:50:59] To do one last fight to lose to a Jake Paul.

[00:51:03] Then it also just kind of like the state of boxing.

[00:51:07] I remember an era where it's like the greats against the greats and this and that.

[00:51:14] And it's like, you know, these heavyweight champion boxing matches, like everything around it of like the work.

[00:51:20] It took years.

[00:51:21] And now it's like, if you have a social media following, if you can fart on YouTube, if you can like, you know, you can build yourself up to this status.

[00:51:32] And now you're getting these rigged fights and you're fighting 60 year old legends that need a paycheck.

[00:51:38] And I don't know what to say about it.

[00:51:42] Yeah, it's so different now.

[00:51:44] It's so different.

[00:51:45] And I don't know if you know this, but like I was actually close with the Tysons for a while growing up.

[00:51:51] Yeah, my dad was Mike was always in the casino and my dad and him just really kicked it off.

[00:51:58] So I went over to Mike's house like often.

[00:52:00] Like I was super close to this family, like Kiki, Rafi, her son, Mike's son.

[00:52:06] I'm super close to all of them.

[00:52:08] So I've been to their house multiple times.

[00:52:10] And to your point, money management is real because it's been a while since I had seen them.

[00:52:16] But I had ran into Mike on the plane, leaving Jersey, going back to Vegas.

[00:52:22] And he was sitting there in first class.

[00:52:24] And it was like, I forget what airline I was even on.

[00:52:27] I want to say, I don't even remember.

[00:52:31] But, you know, it's just a casual airline.

[00:52:33] And he was sitting there in first class.

[00:52:35] And it's still first class, whatever.

[00:52:37] But like you just don't see people of his caliber, like his status as an athlete and fame on the same plane as you.

[00:52:46] Like honestly, there was a day like that would be LeBron James on the plane.

[00:52:49] You know, like you just would not see.

[00:52:51] Not Bronny.

[00:52:52] Exactly.

[00:52:53] You would see Bronny on the plane.

[00:52:54] You'd be like, hey, what's up, man?

[00:52:55] What game are you going to?

[00:52:57] But he's just trying to listen to some music.

[00:52:59] Anyway, yeah.

[00:53:02] So I agree with you, man.

[00:53:03] It's like money management is not taught.

[00:53:07] And I respect Mike that he's he got in the ring and do what he did for eight rounds.

[00:53:11] And, you know, he got money for his family.

[00:53:13] And that is definitely respectable.

[00:53:15] But however, it's just like it's just not the same.

[00:53:18] Like anyone like you said, we saw videos of my life.

[00:53:21] Like, like, right.

[00:53:22] Like I didn't even see him throw a punch after the second round.

[00:53:25] And I was I was mad about that.

[00:53:27] I wanted to see Jake on his ass.

[00:53:29] Right.

[00:53:30] And it's just like, I don't know.

[00:53:35] Everything isn't about race.

[00:53:37] But sometimes it is for me because it's like that's just the way that I see life.

[00:53:41] And it's just like I just don't like seeing my black legends having.

[00:53:48] To do stuff like this, like, I mean, I get it.

[00:53:51] Don't get me wrong.

[00:53:52] But like, I just feel like, like, I hate it.

[00:53:56] Like, it's just I don't know.

[00:53:59] Something about it just doesn't feel right.

[00:54:01] And I just I hate the fact that Mike is in a position where it's like he although he doesn't have to do it is I feel like you had to do it because if you didn't have to do it, why are you doing it?

[00:54:13] You're relevant enough.

[00:54:15] You're Mike F. and Tyson.

[00:54:16] Right.

[00:54:16] Like, I don't know.

[00:54:17] I just like it's just not a great day in boxing.

[00:54:21] And now this Ryan kid, Jake Ryan is like, oh, I'm the greatest.

[00:54:25] Like, how about you?

[00:54:26] How about you fight a boxer?

[00:54:29] That's your age.

[00:54:30] That's coming up right now.

[00:54:32] That's like you go into the senior citizens home and getting people like I just.

[00:54:38] Yeah, I saw a tweet that said it was announced that he actually announced that Joe Biden is his next.

[00:54:43] Opponent.

[00:54:44] So and it did not surprise me.

[00:54:46] I looked into it.

[00:54:47] I said, is this real?

[00:54:48] When is this happening?

[00:54:49] But yeah, to your point, like, it's just sad, man, especially on Jake Paul's part.

[00:54:53] Like, dude, what are you doing, man?

[00:54:55] Like, it's crazy that it got 65 million viewers.

[00:54:57] Shout out Netflix for even like putting that on.

[00:55:00] Get your servers together.

[00:55:02] Get the servers together.

[00:55:03] And it even speaks to our further point that it's all capitalism.

[00:55:07] Everyone's just making money these days.

[00:55:09] And if you've got an Internet following like Jake Paul and whoever the hell you are, anything like that can happen.

[00:55:15] And it's just it was a sad sight, man.

[00:55:18] But nothing will change my love for Mike.

[00:55:20] He's a super great individual.

[00:55:22] But like you said, now that you mentioned it, I kind of wish that we didn't have to see that, you know?

[00:55:27] Right.

[00:55:28] There's a lot of truth behind that.

[00:55:29] I feel like it was one.

[00:55:31] I don't know if it tarnished his legacy because we all saw like, you know, that was not the same Mike Tyson.

[00:55:36] But it shouldn't have had to have ever come to that.

[00:55:38] Right.

[00:55:39] It shouldn't be a part of his legacy.

[00:55:40] Like, I don't think it tarnished it, but it's just like, why?

[00:55:42] And also, with your servers, pay-per-view would never.

[00:55:47] OK, pay-per-view and never have no issues like that, Netflix.

[00:55:51] For real.

[00:55:52] For real.

[00:55:54] Yeah.

[00:55:54] So crazy.

[00:55:55] But, you know, if it's sports related, we got to talk about it.

[00:55:59] And I can't thank you enough, Jelinski, for coming on for another play-by-play and getting this roster down with me.

[00:56:06] I appreciate you so much.

[00:56:09] I appreciate you having me, Bryce.

[00:56:10] I really enjoy doing these.

[00:56:11] It's refreshing.

[00:56:13] It got me in the mood.

[00:56:14] I'm going to put in a little parlay after this, man.

[00:56:16] The Lions game.

[00:56:17] So let's see what we can do.

[00:56:20] Yes.

[00:56:21] Well, I appreciate you so much.

[00:56:22] This has been your November's Play by Play.

[00:56:25] We'll be back soon.

[00:56:26] Take care.

[00:56:26] Happy Thanksgiving.
