[00:03:24] take 200 200 off even though they lying but let's welcome back miss brooke cam hi the winner of our amazing race season 29 not to be confused with 27 or 25 brooke was popping i really really thought you were gonna pull stacer up and be like it's stacer and i'd be like you but you didn't you're so nice how are you you just flew in where you were i'm tired literally when i tell you we had a bryce

[00:03:51] and win event in chicago last night i was supposed to fly home early this morning but allegedly there were tornado warnings but american was the only place that canceled all their flights and because of my dedication to the podcast uh i booked another flight to get home so that we could record i did miss our exit interviews and so if you have not listened already make sure you listen to brooke and

[00:04:15] the six eliminated team brooke did an amazing job but i do want to say real quick though brooke shout out to the purple pants posse um bryce and win tour 48 is kicking off we just were in chicago we will be in austin in two weeks every tour stop this stop or of this tour uh also it's been a long day like i literally my bags are in my living room and if anyone knows me if you think brooke is neurotic

[00:04:44] about taking notes the one thing that i am very neurotic about brooke when i get home do not go to bed until you have unpacked i i subscribe to that it does not matter no how do you know that because i'm the same way i will it could be three in the morning i could be told go to bed do it in the morning no i can't do that i have to unpack i have to fold i have to put in the closet i have to start the wash

[00:05:07] and so it it is paining me start the wash but yeah i do yes but it is painting me looking at my i can see my bag right now and it's looking at me and it's saying shut the door shut the door me so listen i have had a time i've had to try to get on a flight got on a flight i missed our exit interview but i'm here then i left something in my uber so it's been a day but we are here but anyway that's not what i was saying came back and now you have it and life is good we're focusing on the positives

[00:05:37] and on what is definitely not whiskey okay and this is definitely not wine but also but i was saying that on every tour stop of tour 48 that we have been uh with the bryson wind tickets are available if you want to go come on pull up you know what's friendly amazing race there has been someone that has pulled me to the side to say hey the content that you and brooke are delivering uh

[00:06:04] on amazing race is not like any of the other amazing race content and we enjoy and we love and so i just want to say we appreciate you so much and last night it was not one but two people came up to me and you know if you know you know if you say something to me i'm like i gotta tell brooke can i record a message and one of the messages that i recorded to brooke last night uh the phone

[00:06:29] was upside down because i was like i i really get emotional about it because um i do feel like brooke and i are one of the best kept secrets uh brooke is just so amazing and so don't tell your friends let's keep it a secret i'm kidding tell everybody it's so fun honestly thank you for the people who say things and i did it was late at night and i crawled out of bed and i snuck into the office here and i watched them and then i crawled back into bed and i heard what's going on nothing

[00:06:57] you're dreaming and it's back into bed yes so it has been i didn't want to wait shout out to leah leah was one of the young ladies that came up to me and said that like she loves amazing race and she enjoys listening to us uh so i'm excited then i had to watch the episode on the plane and then i normally fly american that's just because i have status and i had to fly united and then they got me

[00:07:23] for eight dollars for wi-fi uh but then when i after i purchased the wi-fi then it's like it's social media emailing and texting not video streaming so i am freaking out on the airplane i sat next to this lady that was from uh i want to say like the brenmar area and i was having me a little fit she was like is everything okay i was like i gotta watch amazing race and she was like oh my god i used to watch that show with my daughter and this is a funny story because and

[00:07:51] i was saving this for the podcast also i'm so hot i don't know this story yet chicago was cold i came back to philly it's like 75 degrees and again i'm still in my travel don't complain about 75 degrees oh no we don't but i just was shocked but i'm sitting next to her and i'm like having a little like and also i had to get a middle seat and you know i don't like the middle seat i like a window seat because i empty the tank i don't have to go pee anyway so i'm sitting next to her i'm having a little fit and then she's like everything okay i'm like i'm supposed to watch this episode i'm

[00:08:21] missing this exit interview um and she was like well what show it was like amazing race and she's like oh me and my daughter uh before my daughter went off to college we used to watch it i was like oh okay and she was like um i can't remember the last season that i watched it was the season where it was the season where i don't think that people knew each other i was like oh i said wait a minute

[00:08:44] keep on going i said well who won she was like that really a this this really tall guy and the the lady that kept saying i can't i can't brooke i screamed on the airplane it's not me i know what you're talking about people were looking at me they were like because i was like i was like i said i haven't

[00:09:11] seen that season i didn't say that because i like i didn't want to like also when i'm in travel mode i don't like to i don't need to talk i don't want to but like i was just like oh my god really but i just felt like of course i said oh my god i podcast with her no you didn't i did i did uh and i was like oh my gosh she's like well what's the name of your podcast and mind you okay then that's the

[00:09:38] end of the story um so i told her i saw her texting her daughter and mind you first of all she wasn't older but she was like maybe in her 50s and her text front screen on her phone was like a hundred and so i could like read it and obviously i don't have amazing race to watch and she was like you won't believe who i'm sitting next to what was her name okay hi lady in the window seat hello beautiful lady

[00:10:06] she was rich she had a beautiful lady louis vuitton luggage she was uh doing something with her rolex anyway we are here to talk about amazing race season five season no season 37 episode there it is let me okay just want to give a little so i gave y'all have another sip of the wine that's good we're good

[00:10:27] so i uh i'm gonna run out okay i watched the episode i'm sipping you know i'm i'm wetting the whistle i will say this i do have some cuss outs to give this episode okay and after the day that i have had it was hot and i am hot right now you know what brooke you know what i'm gonna take a nap

[00:10:55] okay great i love when you just leave me to do this by myself okay first off r.i.p bernie and kerrigan you were missed i think this would have been a fun episode for them although i will say this is the first time since they not bernie and kerrigan since a certain team gray star screens where i would actually say a challenge was made for bailey and anthony

[00:11:24] we'll get there but damn girl like i've always wanted to know how to surf i can't i paddleboarded i've never surfed i don't think i would be particularly good at it but i do have decent balance girl is fantastic anyway we're like so far gone we're listen the real talent is to surf and sleep okay because jonathan uh was it mike or nick who did the uh i don't know i wish i could tell them

[00:11:51] apart i can't i actually wrote it down i'm mike nick you're both so nice and wonderful we love the files brothers okay but i'm gonna get it i'm sure to god that's that's the real challenge can you surf and sleep okay because one half of the files brothers and jonathan they mastered that okay jonathan was snoring i said well we'll get there i might have words for jonathan oh okay listen

[00:12:17] because i gotta let jonathan know with love i have words i i mine is with like i don't know i have love for anna and and words for okay anyway whatever okay so before let's talk about the like before the leg starts the teams get to stay somewhere this time they got to stay with local families i love this this is so cool because there's no better way to learn about the culture

[00:12:43] of where you're where you are than actually living with a local so they got to stay with local families for the night very cool the sun rises and i think we should do all of these while we have been i think so oh the sun rises jonathan honor our first at 458 carson and jack are like 45 minutes later at 5 40 but we don't worry because we obviously know there's going to be an equalizer

[00:13:09] and this equalizer you know me i was flipping jealous okay scott and laurie are 5 41 um erica melinda 557 alissa and josiah six o'clock and then at 601 603 604 605 we have hon holden brent and mark nick and mike and jeff and pops come on jeff okay come on yeah but this episode it was

[00:13:31] come on pops he he okay so rude information says travel by taxi to the sacred monkey forest i need to go here bryce i want to add this for my trip that's fine there are 12 000 monkeys how many monkeys do you think i'm taking like 10 two dozen there would be a monkey sanctuary in my outdoor

[00:13:56] space monkey and one stray dog from the beach because that dog was really cute you don't have tiktok because girl videos of some of the monkeys in the touristy spots that will come and take people's phones no no and for you if anybody's listening have y'all seen any of those videos the monkeys will take their phones and the monkeys will make the people give them food and stuff those are smart

[00:14:23] monkeys those are enterprising monkeys take my phone y'all girl i am if they still we at the purple pants podcast do not condone animal cruelty of any kind i know but also here comes okay he heard you sorry but and also in some of the like exotic resorts where like if you'll leave your window open and the monkeys will come in and you'll see nope i don't know i used to love monkeys but i have seen

[00:14:50] too many videos and i just know me i feel like the monkeys would target me they can smell your fear and i would be screaming and acting a fool and people would be looking at me so no i actually was not excited for this i was like i was staying outside of the monkey sanctuary my god i've never been more in love one time in bonaire which is this little island up near aruba and curacao they're the abc islands aruba bonaire curacao off the coast of venezuela i went there it's a scuba diving you

[00:15:17] don't do anything with scuba dive on this island like if you don't dive there's no point in going there you like drive around in a pickup truck with your dive tanks and you just walk into the ocean all over the place it's incredible they have a donkey sanctuary okay i made very very clear to my then partner that we do not leave this island until we go to the donkey sanctuary we might have been there for too long that we missed her we didn't actually miss our flight this was a very amazing race moment we

[00:15:42] got to the airport 57 minutes before the flight it is a two-plane airport like it is not a big airport and the captain the plane was right there the captain said you need to be here an hour in advance we're not letting you on i went into full lawyer mode i'm like this sir this is ridiculous my then partner i'm like he is in the military he needs to get home and he was in all time out how was the captain saying that's you girl like shouldn't it be the gate agent no they called the captain the captain said they

[00:16:12] should know to be here an hour before but we had a connection in curacao to get home we had to hire a private plane to drive us from bon air to curacao to meet the main plane to take us home long story short i didn't hear the end of it that we missed whatever but i have so many said old partner or yours we shared it but i have so many pictures and videos of the donkeys just sticking their heads in your car like you drive through and you give them carrots and they run next to them it's the

[00:16:42] place where i can hang out with animals i am in heaven so this is we're on page one i'm so sorry this is like long story long i am in heaven with the monkeys like i would take them all home and i know you don't want to go in there but i so jealous okay sorry okay as i was saying

[00:17:09] on the way to the monkey sanctuary jonathan and anna are worried that the driver's seat decisions may come back and haunt them i worry they're right um we learn thank you to the 90 minute episodes that like this is a very sad story for them anna had had had an ectopic pregnancy the year before i of course start crying side note please protect women's health care in the united states this is not a political podcast but seriously reproductive health is health and people are dying this is

[00:17:36] ridiculous okay sorry i just had to get that off my chest i'm seeing too many stories and knowing too many people who are suffering through horrible things so women's health care is health care okay jack and cars thank you thank you jack and carson do the smart thing you're fine jack and carson he speaks up jack and carson gets the taxis and they immediately go who's the fastest snaps for them because they know what they're doing they realize they're going to a monkey sanctuary jack goes we need

[00:18:05] to keep all of our snacks in our bed and cars no jack knows okay carson's like i'm not me like no i was worried for them they're just i on the other hand would have taken my snacks out and while i'm standing there and phil's talking would have been like monkeys like somebody come hang out with me and you would have been swatting them away it's okay don't pop a monkey oh i will if he takes my

[00:18:29] phone i will girl i'm like you it's the amazing race you have no phone oh true so you're fine could have been the tourist phone that i'm getting directions from that's true that's not okay so okay so scott and laurie honestly don't think they're getting u-turn okay they say they think they're right in the middle but i think they're the only ones who think they think they're right in the middle and we do hear a little bit about their weight loss journey they've lost like a collective 200 pounds something's really incredible they look amazing

[00:18:58] i can't lose five pounds side note but whatever they look incredible and they're doing incredibly but honestly you can't possibly think people aren't coming for you let's get real hmm jonathan anana show up but the monkeys don't open till 8 a.m now i of course would be sitting there being like trying to like get myself through the gate early but that's fine um erica and melinda are happy to let everybody else battle out in the front and then they're just gonna come in and slither in as the

[00:19:25] underdogs they are doing a really great job i am very pro erica and melinda and they are one of the only teams that i haven't actually met or spoken to they may hate me i don't care i love them uh alissa and jaziah are getting their mojo back i am excited to watch them climb the ranks today i know they're gonna do it they say they're gonna do it foreshadowing in a good way for once because everybody else is foreshadowing in a bad way um hon and holden are getting better every leg i really

[00:19:54] do think they could become a legitimate threat like i think i wrote them off too early i think i wrote them off to her brett and mike i i brett and mark i did a brace i was immediately like good things are going to happen for them this like because nobody's you turning them because nobody realizes how good they are because they've had shit taxi after shit taxi so even though they are very fast at the task no one's there to see them because they're always so far behind so excited for them

[00:21:43] but it does and it's a lot but i would be i would be a hypocrite if i did not say that laurie is me okay long day yes i was like i would do the same thing even though i'm sitting at home like girl no i do the same thing they are already getting u-turned who cares i would walk up and be like i mean tell me why because honestly just tell me why be honest put it out there own it tell me why

[00:22:08] you did it tell me i'm a threat tell me you wanted me out just tell me the truth fine jonathan anna say um they thought they used the 15 on themselves because they thought they were going to do the task and then they decided not to do it i mean i believe that i don't believe that they were just going to burn their express pass but i scott and laurie say they're going to put the issue behind them but i don't think they're putting it yeah that's not just not behind them the issue is like right here

[00:22:34] well both uh the dungeon brothers and scott and laurie lied to them because the dungeon brothers when they saw anna and jonathan they're like oh thank you so much for giving us the 25 pounds and they're like they got 20 20 they're like thanks for giving the 20 pounds but really right and then scott and laurie like it's behind us we're good we're good we're good it's not it's

[00:23:00] it's right there so erica is really excited about the monkeys but like one one millionth as excited as brooke would have been about the monkeys but i'm so injured so the sanctuary opens at 8 a.m all the teams are there i you would have to like drag me to fill because i would just be found we get it brooke likes the monkeys so okay i say can we add the stop to the trip you say no oh go it alone

[00:23:24] okay so everybody walks into the monkey sanctuary and there's bill and there's bill so i saw bill exactly i think twice on the race one time when we were in the front on like leg 11 we were running in south korea to make kimchi and we were the first team there and feels like now teams are arriving at this place to make kimchi i'm like say it again phil learn first like they didn't air that part but

[00:23:52] i was like overly excited um so phil stops everyone from racing and says hello everybody this week's shtick is we're gonna do a double u-turn vote in front of everybody and some of you will explain exactly why you're voting for your person and that will probably very much upset that person so all teams get to they get this packet of pictures because as if you don't know who's standing next

[00:24:16] to you can't just say the name and they get to discuss who they're going to u-turn now jonathan and anna are like caught me by a little surprise with that one they were like we don't want to u-turn anybody like okay or immediately u-turning jonathan they don't have to talk about it were u-turning jonathan and anna no why maybe they weren't allowed and i should find this out i'm immediately grabbing three other teams and being like guys who are we doing who are we doing who are

[00:24:44] we doing like why are we not discussing this so that we are certain as to who's getting u-turned we're not doing that because phil did that at the mat last episode okay phil had tribal council at the episode last week so that's why there's no need to discuss because phil was stirring the pot phil was being messy and i loved it i loved it too i would love even a little more mess because you know it would really upset certain teams if i go up to certain other teams and be like

[00:25:10] peas and carrots peas and carrots you know what i mean like we should figure it out anyway brett and mark vote for scott and laurie because they're strong john walk who yeah that and laurie shocked to the core jonathan and anna vote for nick and mike because they don't know them that well i don't even know what that means you had even like you've known all these people for exactly six days what are you talking about here's what i got from that on my uber ride home was that maybe the files brothers

[00:25:38] aren't being edited well i don't know because i was like oh i liked it because i knew that whoever anna and jonathan were going to go for they weren't actually going to get u-turned and i like the files brothers and i was like maybe there we're not seeing something that jonathan and anna are seeing but then after this episode and you know jonathan's like i can run this race by myself i can do it by myself

[00:26:02] like so i feel like maybe the files brothers look the most physically like comparable to jonathan and so i think that that maybe could have been what it was okay i didn't get the logic behind it but sure i mean the only thing i can think of is they thought other people were going to feel the same way but that's why you grab other people and you have the little conversation but okay pops and jeff vote for jonathan and anna because they gave them 25 pounds of rice fine i'm fine with it that makes sense

[00:26:31] to me hon and holden vote for scott and laurie they're surprised erica melinda scott and laurie uh no is that right yes because jonathan and anna gave 15 pounds of rice and so they were can't vote for them they gave us the little amount of rice we got to vote for scott and laurie carson and jack for jonathan and anna they gave them 20 pounds and they're like we're voting for you anyway they probably i don't know whatever nick and mike scott and laurie alissa and josiah

[00:26:58] for jonathan and anna and scott and laurie for jonathan on now this is where it gets like more awkward scott starts talking about how he feels like this is his children who are rising up against him and and it's it's a look i took it i take everything personally in life i guess this is a game and i i

[00:27:24] also understand that if someone had ruined my game i probably would go scorched earth so i get it however yeah what happens next where laurie's like mark speaks up and says look you can't keep saying that you're weak when you keep being top three that's just a strategy we are voting for you laurie then says we are not friends with your kind and not your kind you know what i mean not like

[00:27:55] gay people like the people who feel that way and who are disingenuous we're not friends we're done and spend the rest of the time staring at phil and not looking at anybody because she has had it and you know what i probably would have had it too i would have done the same thing coming from i no disrespect to laurie i get it but also it's a game you got to kind of roll with it but also on the other on the first hand i think it would have been exactly the same way but on the other hand

[00:28:22] no one's returning me because frankly i'm i have to have the strength of a wet noodle so whatever shout out to brett and mark for like actually having that discourse with them because two things can be true right like yes can be genuine and be nice and it also come off as strategy and so like i think that that is maybe the nuance that laurie and um scott were missing is that like yeah you can be

[00:28:48] genuinely nice and like make good people again i relate everything to survivor right um and in survivor if you're a nice person and everybody likes you baby that's a threat because i don't want to sit at the end with you and honestly let's be clear and after this episode um no disrespect to any of the other teams but like as it's being edited scott and laurie by far are the best team like

[00:29:16] like they kill it and so i think that it again and i agreed with scott uh when i was listening to your exit interview what you should listen to now is that like um you forget that it's a game and i think that that is very true that you kind of you forget that it is a game and so you're taking this personal but like i also feel like it's kind of y'all fall a little bit like that you forgot that it's a game and that these are teams that you guys are competing for a million dollars and another thing i wanted to

[00:29:45] say to scott and scott was like i feel like these are my sons my sons would never i'm sorry y'all got 732 kids baby depending on who you gave that chore to depending on who you know what i'm saying depending on the day of the week of what time you told them babies to go to sleep one of them 732 kids might you turn your behind scott i just honestly when you're a threat you're

[00:30:15] gonna get you turned be crappy you're not gonna get you turned it's a compliment as far as i'm concerned it really is i mean it might be hurtful but it's still a compliment so i also think because scott and laurie are such good natured people right like i and clearly by their reaction i don't think that they saw how other people saw them right like i like i like i just and that also

[00:30:43] a credit to them being such good people like yeah you wouldn't know that and so like that's what it's i get it but also it just made for great tv because i love brett like kind of like clapping back but i also love mark i also love laurie's response to it because mish i'm giving you that same energy right no i get that like and you know what honestly the thing is this people you turn jonathan and anna

[00:31:09] sort of for vengeance like you gave me 25 pounds of rice i'm gonna u-turn you people you turn scott and laurie because they're good like right it's not we don't like you it's not we don't want you here it's you're beating us so we gotta do what we gotta do so i i get that it's you know sometimes it doesn't feel like a game but i think it should be taken sort of as a badge of honor and whatever anyway jonathan and anna get four sorry go i was gonna say with the u-turn being jonathan and anna and

[00:31:39] scott and laurie hey jonathan and anna what a great time to have had an express pass where is it oh we used it oh my goodness what a time to have had an express pass kids don't burn your express pass just

[00:32:03] a little bit of advice from your uncle bryce and auntie brooke okay so jonathan and anna get four scott and laurie get four nick and mike get one i don't even understand that but fine carson and jack are shocked they got no votes i am actually also shocked they got no votes and alissa says now the top spots are open for anybody to take and it's a wonderful world and we can take them i agree so the root information says to travel i didn't write down the name of the place someplace

[00:32:29] near the beach um but i start this is honestly i'm so jealous of this whole life there's monkeys and puppies and the beach and i would get to swim and i'm a diver so and in the preview they're going scuba diving i just want to go on this like i want to jump on this season because this season looks like fun there's singing there's dancing there's all sorts of fun so how do you have you have you seen a double u-turn in the seasons that you've seen so far is this the first

[00:32:54] vote that you've seen the first isn't this the first double u-turn this is uh no this is not the first double u-turn but and it's also not the first u-turn vote but i do like how they i do sort of like how they did it the last time the u-turn voter they just asked everybody to name names and as people started naming names other people i think were changing their votes to name those names so you know this is i think they made them like put their face up first yeah a lot better and shout

[00:33:19] out to annalee because i feel like annalee kind of like birthed this uh situation when she was asking the people and you know i will get to see annalee and bailey and uh bailey and anthony uh in austin for the bryson wind stop so i'm super excited i was just texting with her that's so weird it's like a weird simulation moment okay so anyway we get back in the caps jonathan tells anna to stop whining

[00:35:24] see it and also i just want to say that in my assessment of amazing race this is episode five this is where i say the winner emerges this is like this is the episode five six this is when you start to see where the winners is that's funny because remember i put five dollars on mark and breath before the season started so maybe i'm gonna win five dollars who knows this is gonna be great

[00:35:52] maybe but i'm just also when a hot and holding comes in new york for the finale can we please go get mcdonald's together i would like to be part of your mcdonald's order thing there's one not far from me so let's do it i saw a tiktok uh a tiktok shop that had a little like reusable or not a reusable but you know one of those like bags that you could take to the grocery store that's like yeah but and it had like mcdonald's on it and i was like oh my god i'm gonna order this and give it to uh give it to holden yes so he can have that's actually hilarious okay

[00:36:22] so haunted holden and mark and brett gets the clue box first this is a detour we have coconuts where you can use the bicycles to deliver 60 coconuts to a beach cafe and stack them to get your clue or we have coral where you can take a reef star attach five species of coral to it snorkel out into the ocean and place it on the ocean floor to replenish the reef community right i say i initially hearing

[00:36:48] uh phil describe all of this i initially was like oh the coral reef i want to do the coral reef it's fun and i was like i and normally i pick the wrong challenges this absolutely was a challenge all day all day all day from the real world and i love the coral reef so

[00:37:13] all day put me in the ocean and let me swim out like this is attention to detail and you get to go swimming this is no or or you can lug really heavy coconuts in the super hot heat on one bicycle while you walk coral all day all day now when we got to the coral reef and brett and mark were figuring it

[00:37:37] out then the dungeon brothers got there uh or dungeon and dragon brothers got there i was cracking up and like i just i love a little shady edit and so obviously brett and mark knew that there was a pattern you got to get it uh when carson and jack jack i'm so used to saying dnd that i'm like is it derrick and but no it's carson and jack when carson and jack got there and they like were stumbling a

[00:38:06] little bit and then they're like obviously like it's uh attention to detail i was like they have to be foreshadowing when anna and uh jonathan get there because they're like you you can't just zip tie 18 uh i'm about to say squids you can't just you you can't you probably cannot zip tie 18 squids that seems like an incredibly difficult challenge well that i would have to pass on that but you just can't

[00:38:31] zip tie 18 coral reefs and think that's it and baby jonathan and anna show up wait we're like hold on so coconuts is hard and hold in nick and michael listen josiah eric and melinda because they do not want to go into the ocean and pops and jack coral is jack and carson because they do want to go in the ocean and mark and brett because they want to replenish the ocean and i respect that i love that for both you have jonathan and anna who do the coral first and scott and laurie who do the coconuts first

[00:39:00] so um here okay so let's talk about the coral we have jack and carson who go to do the coral they realize very quickly that the coral are basically color-coded and different and they lie through they do great mark and brett get the coral on their first try as well and these two are like in the lead if you pay attention to detail this was hands down the easiest is it even a pay attention to detail

[00:39:26] i feel like it's the amazing race i mean jonathan and anna would tell you scott and lori would tell you you gotta pay attention to detail i feel like scott and lori paid more attention than anna and jonathan but yeah they were told to they got a hint well oh which i actually i was looking at the day i was looking at the dragon brothers like what are y'all doing why are you like i mean you want one of

[00:39:51] these youtube not youtube well they're going home anyway one of them is going home anyway why not give a little bit of help in case i'll tell you why in case god and lori make it through and on the next leg there's an equalizer scott and lori will not soon forget that carson and jack were like pay attention to the colors and help them in the future because scott and lori are nothing if not people who will return a favor i believe that and so i understand they didn't stop running they didn't do

[00:40:17] it for them they just as they went pay attention to the colors like yeah i'm okay with that i would have been fine with pay attention to the detail so i was just mad at them because i'm rooting for them and it's like get one of these bigger teams out long story short until six top more like eight tries to get the coral and we do know why so okay tell me and i'm also i was also a little mad at erica well we'll get there but i'm just saying listen this episode five yeah be nice

[00:40:47] but don't make it two nights right okay so john and anna um get to the coral as well it takes them six tries they get a lot of no's because they're not paying attention to the detail um we then hear a story about this is not on his day like when she's five years old she knows i like it too but like where are the happy stories like this is okay so anyway she's long story short she's scared of the

[00:41:13] ocean so she actually makes jonathan go check the rules to to see if she actually has to get in the ocean and it does say both teammates have to get in the ocean so she this girl's fantastic she she like woman's up gets a life vest and gets out into the ocean now you see the little rescue boat like right next to her just in case things go horribly wrong but like you very rarely see the behind the scenes people but that boat is right near her just in case she goes under you saw how choppy those waves were

[00:41:42] when they first got in it knocked jonathan and her both down so i'm just saying okay it didn't seem like the biggest waves in the world but okay i when i was on survivor i went to thailand and during our pre-merge trip uh we went to phuket and they didn't have lifeguards they just had flags and if it was a red flag it was like you don't go in the ocean you can die and we're not doing nothing if it's yellow it's

[00:42:08] like you can die we're not doing nothing if it's green it was like you can die and we're not doing nothing and it was not even so much the waves in thailand but it was like the current it would literally suck you in and valley thailand asia right and so like them waves side note if you ever get sucked out into the current no and turn sideways no this is helpful

[00:42:37] advice don't you i mean if you if you die it's not my fault but if like you get sucked in you need to go you want to go perpendicular so you want to turn yeah first thing i'm doing is then you're dead man go low and turn you want to go you want to go you want to go parallel to the shoreline against the currents that perpendicular i'm trying to help save your life but don't

[00:43:33] same time can we also talk about like if everyone wasn't right about scott and laurie they were the only team that i saw that completed that uh not the detour what is this is this the called the detour the detour the coconuts they were the only ones that completed it in two try this is the best part because honestly i wrote this down because i was shocked so alissa and josiah have 24 coconuts on

[00:44:03] their first trip maybe it's 29 and they want to take like the maximum they can josiah carrying coconuts in his teeth it's actually kind of hilarious like he's all slow and steady wins the race slow and unsteady also sometimes wins the race i'm just saying okay nick and mike have to yeah get 15 coconuts on their first trip so they need three trips to do it scott and laurie think they can miss 30 coconuts on at a time and i'm actually laughing you're like no you can't like they're

[00:44:28] not gonna do it but yes you can so shut up brooke like also you're not old you're not weak you get more coconuts than anybody else on the trip on the bicycle so let's call what's happening what's happening you guys are maybe actually the strongest team that's happening right now so whatever can i also give a gripe like i always and again always this is just me watching i thought it would have been more

[00:44:54] difficult if they had to ride the bike learning that they only had to push the bike i'm like and again i'm just this is just me monday morning quarterbacking watching i'm like we can fit a whole bunch more because i it is me i'ma the handlebar i'm gonna put my shirt on the handlebar hey josiah

[00:45:15] load up my shirt while i'm holding the handle like like i'm using every aspect of that bike i agree i actually thought everything had to be on the bike but when one was in his teeth and ones were being carried like things not like that should be a lot we had a task in vietnam it's a throwback task on these shrimp on these bikes with these shrimp traps it's where one of the people on my season got

[00:45:39] medevaced out because he had heat stroke the only time that i wasn't the on the next amazing race contestant reaches their breaking point one time it wasn't me it was floyd this one time but he was medevaced out so they had to ride the bikes with like a gazillion shrimp traps on them in vietnamese heat and like he almost died um anyway but he didn't and he came back and they're amazing and i love floyd so anyway scott and lori put 30 coconuts on their bike jeff and pops do 15 on their first trip

[00:46:06] but then they put like 35 35 on the set 45 they do something and do it in like two it's ridiculous we gotta talk about jeff and pops but i loved after all the teams after you got the coconuts it wasn't done we see everybody struggling to like get the coconuts off bay bay pops and jeff was just they said shaker shaker shaker and all the coconuts was falling i said

[00:46:39] they said shaker shaker shaker shaker the coconuts came but falling we see like alissa like this is hard like we see people struggling pops and jeff shaker shaker shaker shaker and i said oh my god and then poor nick and mike who try so hard to stack their coconuts and get like 28 on the top you have

[00:47:06] to have 30 on the top section 29 on the top 28 on the top 29 30 like here first do the coral coral all you should absolutely here was another one of my gripes it had to do with nick and mike but it didn't have to do with nick and mike first of all you know here at the tell me more brooke and i we love a good judge okay i think from last season our favorite judge was like

[00:47:35] no we love a good judge okay the judge that nick and mike had i don't care what nobody says she did not count those coconuts did you see her she was like and like she was like good no count the coconut she did not you know she didn't count the coconuts right you know a producer counted the coconuts and then told her yes or no and then she came over pretending to get out of the

[00:48:03] coconuts and told them exactly what the producer okay so your acting skills were up to par for you but listen i am i also watched the amazing race for the judges okay love the judges okay like the judges are sorry cesar 37 they have the reason why i watch i love the judges i was not sis said one two good no

[00:48:27] no first of all after we just seen nick and mike struggle like that i want every coconut counted that's my little great that's that's all give him a break give him a break so well yeah no i like nick and mike send him through give him love them i can't tell you which one's which but i love them i will get it right before the finale because otherwise i'm just gonna go up to

[00:49:21] whatever yeah carson jack in first mark and brent in second elissa and jesire in third jeff and pops are in fourth hon and holden in fifth nick and mike because they can't stack the damn coconuts are in sixth erica and melinda are in seventh and then you've got the last two teams battling out they switch sides so on the way to the switch scott and lori pass carson and jack and carson and jack say make sure you pay attention to the colors right actually asked scott lori did you hear them or

[00:49:49] would you have like great splinters on because it seems like you didn't pay attention to the colors apparently we have a second time this season and we talked about a lot of things so still watch the exit interview but i did learn hi bacon i did learn that when the coral dried the colors went away and so they put their coral out and it dried and then they were like we don't know what's wrong with this this was a hot nope this is a cordy and jazzed moment when your paper dries

[00:50:19] your words disappear when your coral dries your colors disappear keep your coral wet pour that water right back on them so anyway despite being told the details scott and lori don't get it on their first or second or sixth or whatever try now on the other side but their spirits are still up they are still cheering for each other they are still happy and i still like them

[00:50:43] that i can't hang on the desk then on the other side we we have jonathan and ar jonathan jonathan helps them she says he gives them like a little bit of advice john i didn't love that for erica at this point erica like yeah we understand scott and lori are a threat

[00:51:11] but also sorry erica and jonathan listen you're the only two female teams left you and my girl melinda erica stop helping but i appreciate it love you girl but stop helping i don't mind it so anyway here's what i do mind a little bit and i i hesitate because edits are real but i don't think this was the edit so okay uh jonathan is it's hard to follow what he wants because hold the bike

[00:53:28] something like anna got a good arm or she could throw things right like i don't think anna is an angel i've met anna i love anna i know anna got it in her right and so i feel like obviously the edit we're seeing a lot more of jonathan but i really do feel or we're seeing more of this personality from jonathan and i think that they're married they've been together we they've talked about their

[00:53:53] ups and their downs and i think it is a strong sign of a partner that like hey we're in an extremely frustrating situation it's hot like we're not figuring it out and the way that jonathan might communicate also how i communicate sometimes like let's be clear like okay also and this is and this how this is so true before we were started recording again like i said i just got home my bags are

[00:54:22] still here i had to do some things brooke what was okay i was having a brice moment and brooke was like do you want me to go i'm like no just stay here and listen to me yeah i said tell me what you need i you just what do you need me to do i will do it we can take our time and you know we we have moments right and so that's what i'm saying like in this jonathan is clearly having a moment we all have our moments we're all we don't we're all not on tv but it is the way that the

[00:54:51] like his partner anna just supported him through it didn't take it personal because i think someone like a me would have taken it personal and so i'm sure there are people saying like ah jonathan's this and that uh like listen ain't nobody perfect but it's the way that anna responded to it to me that i was okay i can get down with this i see it right like do i love how jonathan is talking no do i love how i was

[00:55:20] screaming in my phone while brooke was there listening no but we have moments and yeah so that that's what our moments are captured on national television moments i screamed at my partner now my partner was not an honor my partner screamed at me and sometimes he screamed at me first and sometimes they didn't show that part so it looked like i was screaming first which is totally fine like we but we didn't have a pre-existing relationship like we didn't know what the

[00:55:46] other one needs to get through those all jonathan moments or brooke moments or bright moments like so let's so jonathan and get their 60 coconuts but jonathan's head hurts they don't see other teams they're just pretty down like she starts running and he's sitting there this is the only thing i have a little bit that pissed me off so she starts running she's like let's go babe and like come on and he's all i will go when i'm ready and just drinking a water like that is the one thing that

[00:56:13] would annoy me i get if you're hot i get if you're tired i get if you have to pee like i get all of it i hadn't i had several bad moments like a stressful moment a yelling moment i get it the one thing i never did was stop i may have gone slowly but i didn't stop moving like i feel like he just sort of gave up he thought they were last and he didn't give up and the frustrating part was they were not last like they were not and the one rule of the race is like you don't know where other people are like

[00:56:42] most of the time so just like they don't give up well no they didn't because he thought they were last and scott and laurie were still had dry coral and didn't know what they were doing because their coral changed color because it was dry coral oh dry coral life is not good when your coral is dry so anyway i don't even know what that doesn't even mean just so we're clear though your coral is never dry okay

[00:57:09] okay just in case josiah's brother is listening okay don't do that that's legit funny okay anyway okay so hold on so when you finish this detour you have to go to this noosa beach or whatever and find your next clue so jack and carson um this is where they pass scott and laurie and they tell them watch the color of the coral okay jonathan's not on the bike scott maurie are at the coral so mike um wait hold on hold on okay so and then they get to the roadblock

[00:57:38] but before we get to the roadblock so jonathan's giving up scott and laurie are not done with the coral at this time but they get an okay after like i don't know 312 tries not that many and there but they never stop cheering for each other these two are each other's biggest cheerleaders and i absolutely love it the thing that's cool is as they they're finishing the coral right before they're supposed to swim out meanwhile scott swims like a damn fish like the dude can do anything he's taught

[00:58:03] he's taught 400 kids how to swim so he knows what he's doing they see out of like the corner of their eye jonathan and on are running to get to the roadblock so they know they're on last but jonathan and don't see that so like yeah whatever moving forward and whatever they were slugging what it was the slogging slogging exactly so they see them going so scott and laurie if anybody has a right to

[00:58:28] feel like pissy it's scott and laurie but they don't they constantly are happy for each other and i appreciate it jonathan on is trying to be supportive but jonathan is now telling her to be quiet his morale is low they're just not it's not their day so whatever out the roadblock carson and jack and mark and brett get there first and it is it says who wants to meet their mates

[00:58:55] let's just be clear i would have been out there that would have been me fine if you really want to otherwise i would have totally been out there i'm very anything in the water just throw me in the water i'm cool so you have to grab a surfboard and swim out to find a surfer with an identical decal on your board now jack thinks you have to find the sweet four that's orange so but the one thing is to stitch jack he left his clue on the shore and so

[00:59:21] he didn't know exactly what he was looking for now he figured it out ultimately but maybe just a little too late so while jack and brett are doing the roadblock carson mark are sitting on the beach and having a little beach date which they call on their little gay holiday which is so cute can i be on the gay beach with y'all because it looked great and again i just feel like representation is so

[00:59:44] important and so on an amazing race when it's mostly a you know heterosexual male dominated you know winners but i loved that we had these two uh queer teams out there i just love to see it i like that they kept that in yeah yeah and i just love brett and um jack jack no brett and mark i just feel like they

[01:00:08] have had such a shitty go at a rough time right and again for them to emerge in the top three like this it's like i have my eye on you too but honestly i think it's really great that they had a shitty beginning and i'll tell you why because if they had been strong strong right right because they went to the bright school of knowing what the hell was going on i think i wrote that somewhere honestly i feel like i said they followed bryce's advice and lived in the middle until they came to the

[01:01:58] grew up near the ocean and i believe he surfs and he knowing to look for the matching decal finds his mate very very quickly jack on the other hand thinks he's looking for an orange surfboard uh doesn't take the clue with him but then realizes his mistake and he's not very far behind brett's in first jackson second then josiah and alissa show josiah is looking for his surf brother he learned to swim by his dad throwing him in the ocean fishing him out telling him to calm down and then throwing

[01:02:25] him back in the ocean again this is they're so heartwarming like they just seem so happy to be there okay so they finish in third pops and jeff get there and this one's for pops so he's a good swimmer he finds his guy very quickly he looks good doing it high pops and then they get out of there quickly you have han and holden show up next han is a surfer this is the one this is the singing in italian for brooke is the surfing in bali for han so uh holden is all on the shore being all good vibes

[01:02:55] only i love that like he even talks like a surfer she legitimately catches a wave on her way back and she's like i saw a wave coming i decided i'm gonna do it and i it was the way she was holding the surf board going out she knows what she's doing oh she's a that's a comfort world yeah like she knows exactly what she's doing so she catches the wave back and she's a badass i love it so mike i want to say

[01:03:18] because his eye isn't hurt i think um yes he's a slow he's not a fast swimmer he's a slow swimmer he tips over but he's trying he really is he's um doing his best and i give him credit for that love him you took me out when he said you know what because this is something i would do okay he said you know what i'm gonna lay down and i'm gonna go okay because i'm gonna i'm gonna lay down but he wasn't laying down because he was giving up he was laying down because like that's the best way he

[01:03:48] knew how to do what he was doing anyway he gets it he gets back to the shore he promptly throws up and he boots and rallies and keeps going so good for him there in six erica melinda was gonna do this one but let's get real this was very physical so erica's like i'm doing it she flies her match on the first surfboard like this is the beauty of a needle in a haystack like she also picked the easiest surfboard to find your match but that's honestly if i were in the front i would have taken

[01:04:13] a second to look at the decals like hers was very easy it was a huge circle the other she did right she's smart i'm giving her credit she picked the right one she luckily girl i don't think that was a okay some of them let me just say jack's decal there were like several with these angel wings just in different colors erica's was his big circle one and it was probably easier to see and

[01:04:39] fine but i give her credit for it i'm not saying what why do you think i'm being i'm not being negative this is a no no i'm not i'm not saying that you're being negative whatever no you're saying like she picked the easiest one girl it's a million of no i'm saying that she's smart enough to look at them for a second and pick the easiest one to see everyone should have done that i give her credit kudos to eric this is a positive thing no it is but and they're in seven well sure okay great but luck

[01:05:09] plays a big part in the amazing race so now those seven are on their way to the pit stop we have the last two heading to the roadblock okay so this was hard to watch so jonathan gonna get their eighth and jonathan does it because on is scared of the ocean honestly i feel like if she wasn't scared of the ocean she would have done this and they probably would have finished

[01:05:32] faster because he has just maybe he hasn't but it looks like he has just given the hell up like the part that makes me upset is scott and maurie very much have not given up scott swims like a damn fish to get out there like they're there at the same time on it keeps trying to be supportive but jonathan keeps telling her to be quiet like his morale is gone like i feel for her and so they get to the roadblock and jonathan is doing it but he is cranky like the thing is this also they get there

[01:06:01] and she's gonna have seen another clue in the clue box like you have to know you're not last that should light a fire under your ass to be like go a little bit faster but no he does this he laid there and decides i'm gonna get a tan even though i'm in a rash garden and i'm just gonna be here for it and bob around in the ocean yeah that like i need some i i need some more information from jonathan

[01:06:22] specifically about this name because it is hard to determine because jonathan did say doesn't do well in heat but like i feel like when we were watching scott do this and at the end we could see scott was exhausted uh and scott was laying down as well but scott was still kind of pushing hard and so it it does

[01:06:47] give the allure that jonathan just kind of like just gave up and also yeah he stops paddling like i get you're tired but like do a little like take your feet a little bit like do something again we see how kind of like uh we see how upset you are throughout this episode so it doesn't lend to this so i need to know from jonathan like were you physically exhausted with something else medically going on that we just

[01:08:08] so i underwent hypnosis which i don't really believe in but the whole goal was to just be able to kill a spider right and to prove to myself that it worked my one of my best friends in the world growing up is an elementary school science teacher and she taught in the city for a while and the other science class had a pet tarantula horrible pet why would anyone have that as a pet that's not a pet that's horrible i went in and touched it just to like prove that i could worst day of

[01:08:36] my life so anyway but i did it so hypnosis works any that's i don't know how we got here but the point of my story is she is paralyzed with fear she's not doing it he is paralyzed with cranky he's also not doing so scott and laurie get there scott is going fast like he wants it like you could tell they do not want this to be over and laurie is so supportive she's screaming from the shore and the nicest part is when jonathan does get the clue laurie's all oh he got the clue like shoot but good for him but

[01:09:04] but also great like you she they are genuinely nice people and she goes over and she hugs on and she says you know good for you good luck we wish you nothing but the best and i honestly believe that's not for show that's not for strategy that's just generally they're nice people so jonathan doesn't even rip the clue like he walks away and it's like just he's had it like he's making it hard to cheer

[01:09:26] for him at this point like i want to cheer for them i i am cheering for her but like he's really making it difficult so he stopped to put his shoes on scott is running barefoot like he is just get me there i need this to be it you have to go to the pit stop which is the stage and tell us art stage or something like that and they have to go on foot so you know it's not that far so there's really not that much of an opportunity to get lost at the pit stop brett and mark are first yay okay

[01:09:57] they get ten thousand dollars to split and i really hope this is not the last time they're in first place like i very much i like i like this order that's happening you have carson and jack in second they followed the price advice like stay in the middle at the beginning and then come out and strength yes alissa and josiah dance their way into the pit stop because they were just that's a good family to try and get into see if he has a cousin for you because that's a legitimate good call i'm out of that we gotta finish this okay we got jeff and pops in fourth

[01:10:27] ton and holding coming to fifth i really love the shake up eric and melinda come in sixth they're shocked because their damn sense of direction is so flipping good that they actually pass nick and mike who are ahead of them honestly she's got like internal gps it's really incredible and then nick and mike are seventh jonathan and anna come in eighth um they said we knew we were a target i say save your express pass kids like don't burn it when you don't need to burn it and then last and most certainly not

[01:10:55] least we have scott and laurie they start crying i start crying like they hug and they kiss and it's absolutely so sweet and they probably went back to the hotel and made another baby because scott can apparently get her pregnant by looking at her and she's incredibly fertile so i don't know coming fall 2025 baby bali i don't know they're great and then we see about next week where they get to go to dubai where there's camels and skydiving and apparently scuba at some point i'm freaking jealous

[01:11:23] and the fast forward is the gimmick that makes its way into the next episode so i'm excited about that it was a great episode i was very sad to see scott and laurie go home but uh with them going home it kind of opens the race up a little bit more and it gives the room for these other teams to kind of like

[01:11:46] slide in and so uh season 37 is off to a an amazing start dare i say even though we're kind of getting midway but it is one that i am yeah no we're right i mean this is five right so yeah sorry go ahead yeah no no i'm just excited we're at five now so like we're right smack dab in the middle i'm really like i feel like you have three sections like the first four the middle four the last four so now we're

[01:13:14] suitcase and within my over-the-shoulder bag are my toiletry bags so like i unpack bags within bags and i'm like if i do toiletry i start with the easiest and make its way to like the biggest do you have the same kind of system something kind of sorta i get all the clothes out i separate the ones that need to be like put in the wash right they need to be put back then i like then put my toiletries i don't put them up but i'll put them in the bathroom i'll put my computer up i'll put my electronics up and then after everything is out i'll like wipe out my bag put my bag up and then
